A Georgia man has died of a 'respiratory illness' while on holiday in the Dominican Republic - becoming the 13th American to die there in under a year.Jerome Jester Jr. of Forsyth, Georgia, died on March 17 this year just a day after going sightseeing in the Caribbean nation, according to his family. The 31-year-old had been on vacation with his sister, who called for an ambulance after he started having difficulty breathing.Jester's sister told ABC News: 'He just dropped to his knees and started throwing up blood, and was calling for Mama.'The closest towns nearest to the earthquake, Ridgecrest and Trona, both about 30 miles southeast of the epicenter, were calculated by the U.S. Geological Survey to have felt shaking on the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale of between 1 and 2 — either so faint it wasn’t felt, or “weak” shaking that it might have only been felt by a few people, even those sitting still.

Ironically, while this was happening, a Syrian refugee’s terrorist plot to bomb a Pittsburgh church, was foiled. Mustafa Mousab Alowemer planned a second bomb to go off when first responders came, and to leave an ISIS flag with a sign, “We’ve arrived."

The pair made their living operating a hotel called the Six Mile Wayfarer House, which they managed in the early 1800’s. Mysteriously, men who were visiting Charleston began to disappear. As more and more reports were filed with the authorities regarding these missing men, it was determined that they were last seen at the Six Mile Wayfarer House, which was called such because it was six miles outside of Charleston.Though the local authorities began an investigation, there was no evidence that the Fishers were involved. This, coupled with their popularity in the town, led to the investigation being dropped.

The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York (SDNY) on Monday alleged he exploited at least 40 underage women at his residences in New York City, Florida, and his private Caribbean island between 2002 and 2005.“He has enormous wealth. The charges are very serious and carry with them a maximum sentence of 45 years, which to someone of Epstein’s age is basically a life sentence,” said U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman of New York on Monday. “So we think he has every incentive to try and flee the jurisdiction.”

The maternal mouse encoded a Cas9 protein, a CRISPR-protein that is inactive unless guided by special “guide-RNAs.” The paternal mouse encoded these guide-RNAs on the Y-sex chromosome, a sex chromosome present only in males. After fertilization, the guide-RNAs from the paternal sperm and the Cas9 protein from the maternal egg were combined in the male mouse embryos, but not in the female embryos (because the females lack the Y chromosome). The combination of guide-RNAs with Cas9 results in a complex that eliminates the male embryos.“We showed that Cas9 was specifically activated only in male embryos,” said Qimron. “Our results pave the way for a genetic system that allows biased sex production. When two transgenic types of mice encoding Cas9 or Y-chromosome-encoded guide-RNAs are crossed, lethality of males occurs because Cas9 is guided from the Y chromosome to target essential genes. This does not happen in females because the Y chromosome is not transferred to them. This cross thus halts embryonic development of males without affecting the development of females.”
