Now that we have the business end out of the way we can jump headfirst into today’s dark enigma… and the first female serial killer in the United States, Lavinia Fisher…Legend has held that the first widely recognized first female serial killer in the United States is Lavinia Fisher, born in 1793, but, the location of her birth, her maiden name, or any information about her childhood, is unknown. Historical records do not agree with all of the legend but in the end, Fisher was hanged for her crimes.Lavinia grew up to marry a man named John Fisher and the couple lived near Charleston, South Carolina. The pair made their living operating a hotel called the Six Mile Wayfarer House, which they managed in the early 1800’s. Mysteriously, men who were visiting Charleston began to disappear. As more and more reports were filed with the authorities regarding these missing men, it was determined that they were last seen at the Six Mile Wayfarer House, which was called such because it was six miles outside of Charleston.Though the local authorities began an investigation, there was no evidence that the Fishers were involved. This, coupled with their popularity in the town, led to the investigation being dropped.

Epstein on Saturday was arrested in New Jersey on sex trafficking and conspiracy charges. The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York (SDNY) on Monday alleged he exploited at least 40 underage women at his residences in New York City, Florida, and his private Caribbean island between 2002 and 2005.“He has enormous wealth. The charges are very serious and carry with them a maximum sentence of 45 years, which to someone of Epstein’s age is basically a life sentence,” said U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman of New York on Monday. “So we think he has every incentive to try and flee the jurisdiction.”

The researchers crossed two types of genetically engineered mice. The maternal mouse encoded a Cas9 protein, a CRISPR-protein that is inactive unless guided by special “guide-RNAs.” The paternal mouse encoded these guide-RNAs on the Y-sex chromosome, a sex chromosome present only in males. After fertilization, the guide-RNAs from the paternal sperm and the Cas9 protein from the maternal egg were combined in the male mouse embryos, but not in the female embryos (because the females lack the Y chromosome). The combination of guide-RNAs with Cas9 results in a complex that eliminates the male embryos.“We showed that Cas9 was specifically activated only in male embryos,” said Qimron. “Our results pave the way for a genetic system that allows biased sex production. When two transgenic types of mice encoding Cas9 or Y-chromosome-encoded guide-RNAs are crossed, lethality of males occurs because Cas9 is guided from the Y chromosome to target essential genes. This does not happen in females because the Y chromosome is not transferred to them. This cross thus halts embryonic development of males without affecting the development of females.”

Jen Gennai, head of responsible innovation and global affairs at Google, wrote in a Medium post that members of James O’Keefe’s conservative group Project Veritas filmed her without her consent and “selectively edited” her words to make it seem like Google was influencing the 2020 election. Gennai called this nonsense and wrote that “I was explaining how Google’s Trust and Safety team is working to help prevent the types of online foreign interference that happened in 2016.” Gennai quotes Google CEO Sundar Pichai in saying that “we do not bias our products to favor any political agenda.”Gennai added that Project Veritas has done this to numerous other people working in tech, and that “they wanted someone who would give them juicy soundbites about tech’s alleged bias against conservatives.” The video Project Veritas posted on YouTube has been taken down due to “a privacy complaint by a third party.”
