Show Notes
Dr. Carole's ‘psychological autopsy’ of Sudesh Amman takes interviews of
family, friends, his ex-girlfriend, neighbors and his own diary to piece
together the picture of who he was, and why he became a terrorist.
Sudesh, 20, was the terrorist who perpetrated a knife attack on Streatham
High Street on February 2, 2020, wearing a fake suicide vest, just 10 days
after being released early from prison where he'd been serving time for
terrorism charges.
Since he was killed by police, and dead man tell no tales, the Terrorist
Therapist puts him on her couch to analyze what went wrong in his
childhood that made him vulnerable to being radicalized - first online
and in a mosque, then in prison. Though he told people he was going to
become a terrorist when he grew up, and played terrorist in his room, no
one took him seriously or got him help, in denial of these early clues
that family dysfunction was filling him with rage.
You will hear about abuse, an absent father, homophobia, his sudden
termination of college ambitions, a smashed up house, a girlfriend
who broke up with Sudesh after he told her to behead her infidel parents,
and more.
