On May 25, Minneapolis police officers arrested George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, after a convenience store employee called 911 and told the police that Mr. Floyd had bought cigarettes with a counterfeit $20 bill. Seventeen minutes after the first squad car arrived at the scene, Mr. Floyd was unconscious and pinned beneath three police officers, showing no signs of life.By combining videos from bystanders and security cameras, reviewing official documents and consulting experts, The New York Times reconstructed in detail the minutes leading to Mr. Floyd’s death. Our video shows officers taking a series of actions that violated the policies of the Minneapolis Police Department and turned fatal, leaving Mr. Floyd unable to breathe, even as he and onlookers called out for help.The day after Mr. Floyd’s death, the Police Department fired all four of the officers involved in the episode. On May 29, the Hennepin County attorney, Mike Freeman, announced third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter charges against Derek Chauvin, the officer seen most clearly in witness videos pinning Mr. Floyd to the ground. Mr. Chauvin, who is white, kept his knee on Mr. Floyd’s neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds, according to the criminal complaint against him. The events of that morning weren’t unusual; according to Tara’s mother, Patty Doel, her daughter biked this route almost daily. Before leaving around 9:30 AM, Tara asked her mom to come get her if she wasn’t home by noon because she had plans with her boyfriend. Patty agreed and unknowingly said goodbye to her daughter for the last time. When she didn’t return by 12:00 PM, Patty set out to find her. After driving back and forth twice, there was no sign of Tara along her normal route.As panic set in, Patty called the Valencia County Sheriff’s Department to report her daughter missing. This year Jihadis call Coronavirus the ‘final nail in America’s coffin’, as they urge their followers to attack. According to Islamic beliefs, Ramadan is the month in which Allah contacted the prophet Mohammed, to give him the verses of the Koran. And terrorists exploit the notion that Ramadan is the month when Allah grants military victories to his believers, and those who gain martyrdom are doubly rewarded in Paradise. This year, Coronavirus makes it an especially tempting time to attack for several reasons. We are distracted, in lockdown, and some of our military is illor reallocated. People are feeling lost, have more time to scour terrorist propaganda on social media and vulnerable to being recruited. We end by peeking into the future and seeing China as a new target of Radical Islamists because of spreading coronavirus, and because of the way the Communist government has been treating the Uighur Muslims.

The rumor: The latest generation of cellular network technology, 5G, has inspired conspiracy theories in the past, with people claiming the radio waves can cause cancer, among other things. Now that the coronavirus is the biggest public health crisis in the world, conspiracy theorists are claiming that 5G is contributing to the problem, either by weakening peoples’ immune systems or even transmitting the virus. The theory is getting boosted by celebrities like Woody Harrelson, and arsonists have set fire to a number of 5G antennas in the United Kingdom, prompting YouTube to remove 5G conspiracy videos.The truth: First, let’s tackle the idea that 5G can transmit the virus. At the moment, public health organizations like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) describe the transmission mechanism like so: “The virus is thought to spread mainly between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet) through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.”It should be noted that 5G is a spectrum of electromagnetic waves, not droplets. Although viruses can survive for a limited time outside of a host, it’s generally a short period (research indicates that coronavirus can survive for up to 72 hours on stainless steel or plastic surfaces). There is no evidence that radio waves can transmit the virus, nor that 5G towers could sustain the virus for any significant amount of time.
