Driving alone along a desolate, remote desert highway can be a slightly unnerving experience that touches us on some deep level of our psyche. The endless, monotonous surroundings stretching as far as the eye can see can instill a distinct sense of time standing still and of crushing loneliness, as if civilization or perhaps even the universe somehow no longer exists beyond the road, and all that remains are the relentless expanses of cacti, brush, boulders, and desert dirt. Along with this feeling of stark desolation comes a certain level of menace, with the prospect of somehow getting stuck out in some untamed, unforgiving wilderness along one of these deserted stretches of road enough to create a palpable dread that pokes at the edges of our basest primal fears. Perhaps nowhere is this sinister air of danger more pronounced than on one particular highway in America’s “Four Corners” region of sections of Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico that has garnered such an intense, enduring reputation for being cursed and haunted that is has rightfully earned its morbid nickname “The Devil’s Highway.”

Throughout history we have sought to preserve pieces of history and the world around us through the use of museums. Here both the history of our civilization and of our natural or even unnatural world can be protected from being lost to the tides of time and studied by all who care to look at them, and museums can cover quite a wide range of fascinating wonders. It also appears that they can house their share of horrors as well, and while equally important in their own way, they manage to crawl under our skin to unsettle and disturb. Here are some of the creepiest, even sinister museums in the world, where one can be just as shocked and horrified as they are educated.Many of the creepiest and scariest museums out there have to do with medical research, anomalies, and flat out body horror. One such place is the so-called Plastinarium, in the town of Guben, Germany. In 1977, the anatomist Gunther von Hagens developed a way to use polymers to preserve human tissue, in essence injecting them with plastic in a process he called “plastination.” To achieve this, almost all of the water is extracted from dead tissue, and the bodies, both human and animal, are submerged in acetone to remove any extraneous fatty tissue, after which they are placed in vacuum sealed vats of synthetic polymer to infuse the tissue with plastic and perpetually freeze the bodies into whatever pose or state is desired. This rather gruesome embalming process proved to be quite controversial at the time, but von Hagens spent many years perfecting the process to the point that he could immortalize the dead in all manner of incredible states.

As society becomes ever more crammed into sprawling cities and our buildings become higher and higher in feats of architectural wizardry, it seems that the landscape of hauntings has in some respect changed as well. Far from being confined to old, secluded houses, ghost stories too have moved into our cities to inhabit our highest buildings. As our cities soar higher, so too it seems do the specters and phantoms that prowl our nightmares, evolving right along with us. These are the stories of those haunted places of the world that lie not around us but over us, from which spectral eyes gaze down upon our city streets below. These are the haunted skyscrapers of the world.There are few cities on the planet where there are skyscrapers that are more ubiquitous, more advanced, and more awe inspiring than Tokyo, Japan. This is a place full of bright lights, neon, giant TV screens, and vast skylines of towering buildings. The crowded streets of Tokyo’s many districts, which churn with tireless activity and bustling people, are lined with soaring monoliths of steel and concrete that loom over their domain like colossal giants. Among these many skyscrapers is one of the most famous in the country, and certainly the most haunted; the majestic, yet cursed, Sunshine 60.

Yet, most of the time these are solitary places of spookiness, anomalous locations that stand on their own; a house, a building, perhaps a hospital or even a forest among other things, all existing alone and in contrast to their surroundings as something… other. There may be one ghostly presence or even several, but they still remain relatively secluded and sparsely inhabited places that lurk in the corners of the dark world we don’t yet understand. However, there is one island right off shore on Lake Huron in the great lakes where almost every square inch seems to be haunted by something or other. A popular summer tourist spot, this is a bustling, well-travelled island that nevertheless seems to be as crowded with ghosts as it is with visitors, so much so that it is often said that the dead outnumber the living here. Let us take a look at this deeply haunted mysterious island, a place absolutely brimming with the paranormal and which harbors more hauntings and ghosts per square mile than perhaps anywhere else in the world.

At first it sounds ominous, but it’s actually promising that the Taliban and the niece of Osama Bin Laden endorse President Trump. Yes, a spokesman for the Taliban told U.S. media that the Taliban endorses Trump. But, when someone from the Trump campaign rejected this, it spawned a retraction from some other members of the Taliban. At first, one might think ’Taliban is bad', so that means Trump must be ‘bad'. But, in fact, the Taliban and thePresident have a common goal: to get American troops out of Afghanistan, and Trump has been trying to make this happen in a way that still protects the U.S. from terrorism. Noor bin Ladin, the niece of Osama bin Laden, (though she spells her name differently), is a big fan of President Trump and has been from the beginning. In fact, she says, only Trump can prevent another 9/11 - and she ought to know! Meanwhile, Greta Thunberg, the teen Swedish climate change activist, endorses Joe Biden. She obviously hasn’t been paying attention to Biden's flip-flopping on his environmental positions regarding fracking and the Green New Deal. But, Greta’s backing seems more to do with her discomfort at being considered irrelevant, than what Biden is thinking at the moment.
