And it was simply because I was self-sabotaging." "The beautiful thing about books is it's literally the distillation of all of the brilliance, the failures, the pain, the difficulties, the challenges, the successes, the breakthroughs of that individual who took the time to write that down and to give that as a gift." "The things in your life that you are resenting and that you take for granted are actually your greatest gifts." "Success and sales start with serving." "Clarity to me is this foundation for all of us to grab a picture, to create a picture of the version of us that we want to. Not to say like, "Oh my gosh, I'm in this terrible spot. I could never get there." But no. Instead to say, "Okay, this is who I want to be as a father, as a husband, as a wife, as an entrepreneur, as a friend. This is how I see myself." "If you want to change something in your life, you have to literally change your mind." "There's the pain of staying the same, and there's the pain of change. When the pain of change becomes less than the pain of staying the same, then things change." And because it didn't originate with you, that means it doesn't really belong to. Because it doesn't belong to you, it is meant to be shared. So share your best stuff, not your leftovers. Because if you're good enough to get great stuff and you pass it along, that means you're good enough to get more great stuff." "A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle." "I wanna make sure that I am living and modeling what it is that I preach from stage or on page." "If someone were to see me behaving in a manner that is not congruent with what I share on stage or what I share on page by my definition, that would make me a hypocrite. And that is one of the last words I ever want to be associated with my name or my brand." "I acknowledge that I'm flawed and I'm fallible. I'm far from perfect. I'm going to make mistakes. I'm gonna say the wrong thing. Occasionally I'm gonna have a lapse in judgment. So this is not about holding myself to an unrealistic standard, but it's about doing the best that I'm capable of consistently to live up to what it is that I'm preaching for others to do." "Just because something's understandable, it doesn't mean it's acceptable." "When it comes to commitment, you're either in or you're out. There is nothing in between." Begin to work on those things so that you can get better because when you get better, when you begin to heal, then you can have better relationships going forward." "Getting upset can't change this in any way. So, why get upset because getting upset only makes me feel bad. It doesn't make anybody else feel bad. It doesn't ruin anybody else's day. It ruins my day. So if getting upset doesn't change it. Why get upset? I'm not saying I gotta be happy about it, but. Getting upset just doesn't change it." "It is cheaper to stay together and work on it than it is to get divorced." "Create experiences for your kids that they can have one on one with you because long after they've forgotten about whatever trinket toy thing that you got them, they will forever remember the experiences that they had with you." "The only way you and I can learn is by doing things wrong. When we do it wrong, we learn what not to do so that we can get closer to what we're supposed to do the right way to do it." "Clarity leads to competence, which leads to confidence, which leads to influence. And that leads to the impact that eventually leads to income." "Confidence means you know that you know and nobody's gonna convince you differently because you know it. Arrogance typically means you're trying to compensate for something else and overinflating how good you are at something." "I was scared about doing multiple short-form videos. I was afraid I was gonna look stupid … And it was that fear that kept me from doing that, and when I finally said, "I'm okay with looking stupid. I'm okay with looking ridiculous in videos. "I know that leadership is within me, but I also realize that growing up, we weren't really taught to go and seek other leadership skills, other leadership opportunities. But that's something that I've developed now, the importance of going out and educating yourself, learning a little bit more…." "Why would you give up? Martin Luther King didn't give up. Obama didn't give up. Oprah didn't give up. I've met a couple of these people and they're human. They didn't give up. They had a dream, they had a vision and they kept going." What are you trying to do or envision for the next one to three years? What's going to get you by for 80 to 90% of the time without too many hang ups? That's gonna be your camera. [13:13] - When you're looking at gear and equipment, people are looking at spot buying stuff… The easiest way to approach this is to… look at a system of equipment that serves your purpose. [27:27] - When you have to look up for the how to do things, you might always find a tutorial. It may always look easy, but in application and use is how I think you'll figure out what's honestly gonna work for you. [30:12] - Short-form content is a great way to be a great content creator when it comes to even just the regular longer-form horizontal videos. So 60 seconds or less is a good range to learn and get really proficient with doing. [36:17] - Video is the king of content because it is one of the few forms of content where you can really interact with people… it's close to normal human connectivity and relationship metrics that we would just naturally get from meeting somebody and being with people. Video does that in a way that the other mediums can't transcend and haven't over many years now. Very quickly, I started to look at this neck injury as a gift to me. Now, of course, I would feel differently. I'm sure if it had been more catastrophic or the outcome had been worse, but I cannot help thinking how much this has given me already in terms of forcing me to sit still, to be perfectly honest, getting back to my writing." "There is a spiritual gift of slowing; it is a discipline to do that, to force yourself to slow down and be in the moment." "I've never believed that God does this or that, but I've always believed through my life that there are signs that are in front of you, and they're put there by God … but you only see them when you're open to seeing them." "Another thing that being a mom does to you is it makes you forgive so many more people because everybody is somebody's son or daughter." "Sometimes it wasn't the best people who survived. Sometimes it's the people who were ruthless or self-serving who did survive." "The only way it gets better is if you actively pursue it and you work on it. I don't care what the skillset is. It doesn't matter. If you're not spending time working on it, it isn't gonna get better." "I don't care where they go to college. I don't care if they go to college. And that time that's left over, you make time for everything else." "Everything in the world is ever so elastic and changing its system." "It isn't about the destination. It's about the journey. It's about getting better that itty bitty baby steps at a time. So each one feels like hardly anything, but they become cumulative. And then you really start to see the progress." "We can learn from every situation and everyone we run across, no matter their place in life." "Passion is for us. Purpose is what we give to others." "What's ordinary to you is magic to others." "Wake up broke. Wake up single, even though you're married and you're successful." And if we could fill our responsibilities in those areas, so many of the other problems in the world would just vanish." "I don't believe business is cutthroat. If you're building a successful business long-term and not helping people, you're not going to have a long-term business. It's gonna fall apart. You can fool people for a while, but if you want a long-term business, the only way you survive is to provide valuable products and services for people they know they can count on." If you are not doing well, your business is not. And one of the main pillars of human health is community." "You don't know the level of support you can have until you give someone the opportunity to support you. And the feeling that connected, supported, cared for, and loved bolsters every part of your life." "If you are a personal brand, business, or a CEO, the more supported you are the more full you are; the more connected you are, the more heart-centered and heart-driven you can be." "Most awesome thing about humanity is that we have the capability to become wildly invested in something." "You have to know what it is that you need to do for you. And once you figure those things out, those are the things you need to do." "We have to build in white space … because there has to be room for life to happen." "Figure out who you want to be, not what you want to do." "Pain leads to purpose, which leads to the platform." "The problem with most people is that they pretend the pain is not there. And some of the more dangerous ways that people pretend the pain isn't there is by trying to cover it up, putting salve on it, and using things like alcohol, drugs, and promiscuity. And none of those things are healthy because they don't help. All they do is push off what you're going to have to deal with anyway. And the further you push it down, the worse it gets." "Many times, people confuse happiness with joy. Happiness means I feel good about this at the moment because something is driving it at the moment. And as soon as the moment is gone, I am no longer happy. So striving for happiness is fool's gold." "Joy says, even in the midst of the most horrific things that could possibly happen in life, i.e., the Holocaust, I can still be filled with this sense of purpose. Joy is being fulfilled regardless of the circumstances." "A lot of the time, when you've been living with a certain amount of pain for a long time, you don't necessarily realize how much discomfort you're in." S8 Ep 95Episode 95 Introduction to NFTs with Andy Storch

In recent years, the hype that NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) have created is unmatchable. From art and music to stories and selfies, people are selling and buying everything they can as NFTs. But what is NFT actually? Andy Storch is back on the show to break down NFTs. Andy is a speaker, author of the book Own Your Career Own Your Life, a cancer survivor, a podcaster, an NFT investor, husband and dad. Listen to this episode to learn more: [02:47] - About NFTs (Non-fungible tokens) [06:36] - What are blockchain and cryptocurrency mining? [09:36] - What is a digital wallet and how is it related to NFTs and blockchain? [15:57] - Andy's NFT journey [17:00] - About Ethereum [21:27] - About Andy's podcast, My NFT Journey [22:33] - How to build a personal brand in the NFT space [27:16] - About Metaverse [30:39] - Advice to someone who is thinking about investing in NFTs [37:43] - Networking in the NFT space [39:17] - How to create an NFT collection even if you're not an artist [47:29] - Making an NFT out of your own quote or meme Key Takeaways: NFT: It is a unique digital code representing some kind of digital item, like art or music, as an investment, or it could be intellectual property or an access code, etc. The keys are: it's digital, trackable, and on the blockchain. An NFT can be verified as authentic or not or how many pieces there are in the world. Blockchain: A chain of computers running mathematical equations all around the world to verify and agree on transactions. It is like a digital ledger that's available to everybody worldwide. Every transaction in the blockchain is recorded, and anyone can see that transaction. Digital Wallet: A Digital wallet is like a digital safe which is protected by a password, but people can also see what you have if you choose to share them publicly. If your password to your digital wallet is lost, you can recover it using the seed phrase, but if you lose the seed phrase, it's lost forever. Seed phrase: A seed phrase is a series of words generated by your digital wallet that give you access to the items associated with that wallet. As long as you have your seed phrase, you'll have access to all of the crypto associated with the wallet — even if you lose the wallet. So that's no longer a part of your life." "Truth tellers are the change agents." "The inherent behavior of a man is to help others. And unfortunately, it's been dismissed in our society." "Be really careful about who you choose to have as a truth-teller in your life. Because it is not what they say it is how they say it. Find truth-tellers that will tell you the truth with love." "A bad truth-teller is the one who doesn't love you. She/he's not helping you or serving you."
