S7 Ep 148161 Solo Episode | Moving to a Small Town & Impacts On My Business

Today, I’m taking the mic for a Solo Episode. It’s been a while since I recorded a solo episode, for you. We’ve just had such incredible guests throughout Season 7 that I didn’t feel worthy of hogging the mic (lol!). Hopefully you had a chance to tune into some of the past episode we did, chatting with…Connor CarrickDr. StephanieJenn PikeJesse ChappusLeila KeshavjeeAll of the Season 7 Episodes can be found here >>In today’s episode of the podcast, I want to share a Personal Update on all things Visionary! I know that many of you have enjoyed these in the past. Where I just talk, raw and real, and let you know what’s happening. These are episodes I love listening to when I tune into other peoples podcasts, so let’s try it out!I’ll dive into...What it's been like moving from Toronto (population 3 million) to Paris, Ontario (population 15,000)How my business has been impacted by this moveInitial reflections on how I've changed as a person, since moving hereBefore I get into it, I want to share a few WINS (aka Celebrations from Visionary HQ!)This is something we do each week inside of The Visionary Method (whether it’s “I just started a Instagram Account” or “I signed my first client at my new pricing!” we are always looking for ways to celebrate the Visionary Community. To learn more about our Online Business & Marketing Coaching Programs, click the links below…Looking for a private Business Coach to help you Create, Launch or Grow your Online Business? https://kelseyreidl.com/privatecoachingLooking for a supportive community of early stage Business Owners who are ready to make their first $50,000 in business, but have no idea where to begin? https://kelseyreidl.lpages.co/tvm/Have an existing business that has generated $50,000+ and now you need a solid Marketing Strategy? https://kelseyreidl.lpages.co/marketingcoach/Onto the Weekly Wins!…We welcomed in 6 new visionaries in Visionary Coaching Experiences in the past 6 weeks. Life coach, financial experts, Nutritionists, bake shop owner, mountain bike experiences owner…Google rankings are crushing it (SEO is working in my favour BIG TIME!!!). I’ll be breaking this down on an April Visionary Method Coaching CallLanded 3 podcast sponsors for the Visionary Life Podcast, all of whom I adore and use frequently. My assistant Alex is now the TVM program manager and she runs much of the shipThere have always been challenges, among these wins… I need to get better at delegating. There’s a lot on my plate that I no longer need to be doing!Another thing I want to create space and time for is holding the vision of Visionary Inc, while showing up in the present for my clients. Making time to dream and explore what’s possible is something that easily falls away when time is tight. How about you? What are your wins? What’s challenging?Anything I can help you with?Let’s get into the episode - a recap on the past 6 months…Topic # 1What it's been like moving from Toronto (population 3 million) to Paris, Ontario (population 15,000)?My nervous system is calming down and unlearning the hustle and pressure I put on myself in TorontoI think I could be happy anywhere, so it’s been wonderfulThings I’ve enjoyed include: meeting new people, finding new ways to adventure (canoe, paddle board, night hikes, cycling routes, gravel rides)Of course, there is so much I miss from Toronto including: my VISIONARY HQ (office), meeting people at the Drake for beers, the endless amount of good food, the walking and running routes, my cycling crew BOW+, the beach volleyballTopic # 2How my business has been impacted by this move?I had a lot of hesitation around the limiting belief of “would I be able to run a business if I wasn’t in Toronto?”However, I have proved myself wrong! We are growing month over monthIn fact, March 2021 is our biggest month ever. In just 3 months I’ve surpassed the salary that I was once paid at a corporate job which blows my mind. It reminds me that there is NO limit when you own a business. The limit is your belief systemI’m still networking, but now it’s online! I’ve been meeting the most awesome people regardless of whether I am in Paris or Toronto Topic # 3Initial reflections on how I've changed as a person, since moving hereI haven’t! A move doesn’t change you…Same as when you travel (wherever you go, there you are)Dave and I always said in the house hunting journey, moving isn’t going to make us magically happier so just focus on being happy now.Houses, cars, fancy things… they bring you a quick dopamine hit and then what? You’re still left with the same life all around youI’ve found so much joy in simplicity here. Friday night fires, walking to our friends houses because everyone lives within 5 minutes, staring at the water

Many of you have been patiently awaiting this episode, and now I know why. Jenn is a true visionary. In addition to opening up about her many successes as a business owner of over 15 years, Jenn is also pulling back the curtains to share the challenges and tougher moments that brought her to where she is today.Opening & ultimately selling her brick and mortar Pilates studio,Reaching burnout multiple times,& failing to give her family her best energy…This is just SOME of the realness that Jenn and I are sharing in today’s conversation. If you don’t know Jenn, she is…A Best-Selling Author of The Simplicity ProjectCreator of 2 revolutionary women's health online courses -- The Hormone Project and Synced.Creator of 3 sensational video-based movement programs - Rock Solid Booty, Sleeveless Strength, and Fit Fierce and Fluid.Host to Simplicity TV on YouTubeShe’s also a Holistic Expert for Breakfast Television, Global, CHCH, Rogers TV and she writes columns for STRONG Fitness Magazine, iRun magazine, Savvy Mom and contributes to Inside Fitness Magazine, The Toronto Star and Sun.3 VISIONARY TAKEAWAYS FROM OUR CONVERSATION: Before we started recording, Jenn and I were talking about “the dips” that business owners so often experience, but don’t always share. You know, those low moments in a day (which occur almost everyday in my workday if I am being honest) when you just feel like “it’s not working”. Yes, even Jenn has those moments! She talks about a technique she uses, which is simply tapping in & taking a pause. Removing the earbuds, taking some deep breaths, and asking “why isn’t this working”. This is something I am going to implement immediately, as I find that I tend to experience moments like this at least a few times per week!Second, I loved her perspective on closing her studio and how she sees it as a completion and not a failure. I think it’s so important for all of us to adopt this mindset shift when one chapter of our life closes and another opens. It’s not failure, it’s not something to regret, it’s simply a completion that is preparing you for what’s next. Finally, I appreciate how Jenn is transparent about the challenges that come alongside opening a Brick & Mortar studio. She said it was the hardest and most rewarding 5 years of her life, while she owned and operated her fitness studio. When she shared how tough it was in terms of finances, managing her team, dealing with landlords… it reminded me that it’s so important to support our brick & mortar shop owners when possible. They make our communities what they are, add vibrancy to our communities, and they deserve to be celebrated.p.s. 152 Sara Monika | Building an Authentic Brand

You can follow a recipe line by line, and it can still turn out wrong. Whether you’re baking a new bread recipe, putting together an Ikea Bed Frame or launching a brand new online course – things don’t always work out perfectly. And that’s life.I think it’s safe to say that we all know that feeling of disappointment when things don't go according to plan. You work so hard on something, put your heart and soul into it, and then it falls flat. It can be disheartening, but it's important to remember that these setbacks are a normal part of life. Every successful person has experienced their share of failures– including Sara Monika, a Wedding Photographer, Educator and Host of The Shine & Thrive Podcast. The key is to learn from these experiences and use them to make you stronger and more resilient. This is something that Sara and I discuss at length inside of this podcast episode. So if you want to hear from a Business Owner who has BEEN THROUGH IT ALL, you’re going to love this convo with my friend Sara Monika.https://www.instagram.com/saramonikaphoto/IN THIS EPISODE, WE CHAT ABOUT…Why did you decide to launch a podcast? What’s been the most rewarding part of creating & producing the show?Any unforeseen challenges? Can you recap how 2020 went for you, as a professional photographer who shoots mostly weddings & in-person eventsRight at the start of the pandemic, you launched your first online course, Outsourcing Made Easy for Wedding PhotographersWalk us through your journey of building this courseWhy did you decide to take the plunge into the world of Online Course CreationIt’s a huge undertaking to build an online course - how did you stay on task and stay accountable?Any tips for aspiring online course creators, now that you’ve gone through the experienceWhy did you start with in person sessions, was there a strategy here?First, what types of tasks did you start outsourcing years agoHave you always been confident in the investment required upfront to pay a V.A?What would you say to someone who is hesitant to outsource? You actually have data that prove that outsourcing saves you 100’s and 100’s of hours per year - would your business be where it is today without outsourcing? You had your VA take an SEO course (you paid her $7 / hour to take it), it sounds like you have an amazing VA! Where did you connect with them?Something that you’re a true master of is Showing up Authentically...You share stories of yourself dancing, shuffling, walking your dog - and sometimes you go deeper & talk about your struggles with binge eating or feeling unmotivated… Why do you pull the curtains back on your life so authentically? You mentioned in a podcast that you had mastered “being you” in your wedding photography business, but when it came to your role as an educator you felt like you were still looking to others in the industry to show you how to act or performIn what ways did you catch yourself not being authentic? It takes self awareness to catch yourself being someone you’re not and to address it. Do you have any tips or practices that allow you to reconnect with yourself? One thing I admire about you is that you won’t use Skin Smoothing Filters… is this in an effort to be authentic, too?Growth & The FutureHow much of your success do you attribute to showing up consistently & authentically, and how much do you attribute to being an expert of your craftWhat drives you each day? This week we have a recharged episode for you because we’re in the process of recording season 7So for this week, we have recharged an episode from Season 5.In this episode I sit down with Marc LaFleur who is the co-founder of TruLocal, a subscription service that delivers high quality frozen meats to your doorstep.I decided to recharge this episode because just a few weeks ago, truLOCAL was acquired by a company called EMERGE for over 16 million dollars. What a milestone! Here’s a comment from Newswire, made by the Founder and CEO of EMERGE."In truLOCAL, we have acquired a profitable market leader in the lucrative food tech space that happens to be one of the fastest growing companies in Canada," (Source)Rest assured, the founding team as well as Marc seem to be staying in place so not much will shift from an outsider's perspective.Dave and I have a truLOCAL box shipped to our home each 6 weeks, for the past 3 years, and we’ve been blown away by the quality and customer service since day one.Congrats Marc and congrats truLOCAL team, you deserve all the success.Let’s get into my chat, recorded back in April of 2020, with Marc LaFleur.Order your first truLOCAL box by clicking this link >>https://trulocal.ca/?sscid=11k5_hqjl0&utm_source=shareasale&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=2299669_1212490
