Message | But First...The Bad News
Chapter 2 begins with Paul teaching the good news, but to accurately teach the good news, people need to hear the bad news. Paul shares the bad news first. There is a cultural idea that we are all good people: since we are all children of God we must do something really bad to have that status removed. "Good” is our default position., and we have to behave our way to “bad.”However, that isn’t what scripture teaches. We begin as those under the wrath of God, and without Christ, that is where we will remain.

Message | "In Christ"
This week our study of the church of Ephesus moves us into the book of Ephesians. This letter was likely written around 60 AD. Paul left his ministry in Ephesus around 56 AD. He went to Jerusalem and was arrested and eventually was taken to Rome. It was from his Roman detention that Paul writes this letter back to the people he spent over 2 years doing ministry with. The letter to the Ephesians begins with a reminder of all that comes with being “In Christ”. This term is used in some fashion 9 times in the first 14 verses.

Message | The Mundane Work Of Ministry
We often think of the ministry of the Apostles as always being adventurous and excited, filled with feats of bravery and miraculous events. Yet while that is often true, there is more to the story. In Acts chapter 19 we find Paul fulfilling his promise to return to Ephesus. He meets some disciples there, who, like Apollos, didn’t quite get the baptism piece right, so Paul corrects them. Then he does what he always did, he started preaching in the synagogue sharing about Jesus. He did this for 3 months. And when he wore out his welcome, he rented a local classroom…and preached and teached everyday for two years! Two years of faithful gospel proclamation.

The rich young ruler and Zacchaeus had something in common: they both wanted salvation. One got to hear "salvation has come to you today" and the other heard "it's so hard for a rich person to get into heaven." Why did they hear such contrasting responses from Jesus?

Message | How to use Worldly Wealth (Luke 16:1-15)
Jesus continues to make the connection between our money and our hearts with this parable in Luke chapter 16 verses 1 to 15. The shrewd manager leverages the resources he has available to him to invest into his future home, and is commended by his master. What can the church learn from this? How can we leverage our resources to invest in eternal dwellings?
Becoming Better | Transformed Heart (Matthew 6)
Well hey, welcome to the Becoming Better Podcast here at QuadCity. I'm Josh, I'm the host for today's episode.Myself, Jason, and a new guest to our podcast, Brad Greene who is new to our staff will be joining us as we talk about week one of our new series we just kicked off this past Sunday, "Transformed.""Transformed" is all about the heart and Jesus' teaching around generosity and our heart. And it ties in with this journey that we've been on as a church through Excel. So we are at the midpoint of our journey and as Jason mentioned as he kicked off the sermon, last year was focused on what God wants to do through us, but this series for these four weeks are all looking in at what God wants to do IN us. How God wants to transform us, which all of us would say we want if we are disciples of Jesus, that we want to be better. So as always if you haven't yet listened to the sermon this week, listen to that because it will help make sense and give more context around this conversation. We are grateful each week that you all listen in and join with us, so here's this week's episode.
Message | Transformed Heart (Matthew 6)
Jesus, in his sermon on the mount, makes it very clear that we will store up treasure somewhere. The act of storing treasure isn’t condemned, but we should pay close attention to the location in which the treasure is stored. Jesus makes a concise statement of “where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” So the question is, as Christians, where are we storing up our treasure? On earth? or in Heaven? It’s gotta be one or the other.

Message | The Early Church was Distinct in their Sexuality (1 Cor. 7) | DISTINCTIVELY CHRISTIAN
In a world where sex outside of marriage was expected for all men, the early Christian ethic of sex only between a husband and a wife was counter-cultural. The early disciples also saw sexuality as an equal gift and responsibility to both husbands and wives. The needs of women were never taken into consideration like this before. Early disciples saw sex, not just as a physical activity, but a spiritual one as well.
Becoming Better | The early disciples served the lowly.
Welcome to the Becoming Better Podcast. I am your host, Nate, and I am so glad you are here.In today's episode, Jason, Josh, and I sit down and talk more about how we serve the lowly. Message | The early disciples served the lowly.
Everyone is willing to do for those who can do for them. But what set Christians apart from the very beginning, was their care for those who could not care for themselves. Building on the foundation laid in the Old Testament, the early Christians took seriously the call to take care of the poor and the marginalized and alien in their midst. And we are called to do the same.
Becoming Better | The Early Church was PRO-LIFE (Matt. 22:37-40)
Well hey, welcome to another episode of the Becoming Better Podcast here at QuadCity Christian Church.I'm Josh, I'm the host for this episode. And today's episode Ken and Jason will be joining in and we will be discussing the topic of abortion. So we've been in a series here as a church looking at the things that made the first Christians, the first followers of Jesus distinct. And one of the distinctives is that they were fiercely pro life. And so, as always, if you haven't heard Sunday's Message we think you should do so, it will help bring a lot of clarity to answer the questions you have and make sense of the questions we ask moving forward.Just a heads up, this is a longer episode, because this is a conversation with a lot of nuance to it, and so we just ask that you hang in there with us and hopefully find some good pieces for you to have conversations with your neighbors and friends. And lastly, if you or someone you know has gone through with an abortion and made that choice, and the emotions or the pain are just as real as the day they made that decision, we here as a staff want to come alongside and help pastor and shepherd. You can email any of us here on staff, or you can call and speak directly to us at our church, all of our contact info is at Quadcity.ChurchYou do not have to go through this alone. So without further ado, here's today's podcast.
Message | The Early Church was PRO-LIFE (Matt. 22:37-40) DISTINCTIVELY CHRISTIAN (Ken May)
In a world where children were literally thrown out with the trash and left to die or to be picked up and sold to slave traders or sex traffickers, it was the early Christians who would take in those kids to raise them as their own. Knowing that all humans were made in God's image meant that all life was worth saving.
