S5 Ep 1Becoming Better | How Perseverance is Produced (James 1:1-12)
bonusWell, hey, and welcome back for another episode of the Becoming Better podcast. I'm your host, Brendan Krismer, and I am so glad you are here. Well, on today's episode, Jason, Josh, and I sit down and discuss all that we know about James, the brother of Jesus and the writer of the book that we will go through over the next 11 weeks. We also talk about how important it is to persevere in our faith and how we have an internal perspective on our suffering. As always, if you have questions or comments from Sunday's message, join us at Quadcity.church/podcast. You can submit your questions to be answered right here on the show. And hey, if you are new to the Becoming Better podcast, welcome. We are so glad that you are here. A little bit about the show, this podcast: these episodes are intended to dig a little deeper into the context and anything that we couldn’t get to from our Sunday's message, as well as answer any questions again. You can submit those at QuadCity.church/podcast but because this podcast is all about Sunday's message if you have not yet listened to the message from this past week go ahead and pause this episode now go back and listen to it, which it can be found on this same quad city podcast feed and then you can continue as it will help this conversation make much more sense to you. Well, again, thanks for joining us today. We hope you enjoy this wide-ranging conversation as we kick off Beyond Belief: The Study through James.
S5 Ep 1Message | How Perseverance is Produced (James 1:1-12)
How can we consider it "pure joy" when we face trials? It's not that the trials are joyful, but rather it's what the trials produce that we should take joy in. Trials test our faith and produce perseverance. Therefore we should be joyful in the perseverance that is produced through trials, which strengthens our faith.
S4 Ep 1Becoming Better | Family Meeting
bonusHappy New Year, and welcome back to the Becoming Better Podcast. This show is where we break down more of what we covered last Sunday and dig deeper into how we should apply what we learn to our daily walk.On this episode, Jason, Brendan, and Josh sit down, and they discuss what they enjoyed from last Sunday's message. They also talk more about what you can expect this coming year. If you have any questions from Sunday's message, you can submit them to Quadcity.church/podcast, and we will answer them right here on the show. We are excited about what this year offers, and we hope you join us.
S4 Ep 1Message | Family Meeting
For our annual Family Meeting, we review all that happened at QuadCity during 2023 and discuss upcoming things to look forward to in 2024.
S5 Ep 1Message | Made New
We've all heard of the "New Year New Me" mentality when it comes to New Year's resolutions. This year, instead of starting a diet or workout routine, becoming more productive, or other self focused improvements, maybe we should shift our focus to God and becoming more like Him. If you've already dedicated your life to the Lord, this year could be "New Year, New EVERYONE ELSE" as you focus on sharing the gospel and making more and better disciples of Jesus. Everywhere. Always.
Message | Christmas Eve Service
Over the last few weeks as a church, we have been focusing on some parts of the Christmas story that often get skipped, namely the four songs recorded for us in the Christmas story in Luke chapters 1 and 2. Today we will look at a few thoughts about the least known song from the first Christmas, the song of Simeon, a guy who knows what it means to wait.
S3 Ep 3Becoming Better | The Angel's Song (Luke 2:14)
bonusJoin us Saturday 3:30 and 4:30 and Sunday at 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00 for our Christmas services. You can find more info at https://quadcity.church/Christmas. We will also not be recording any other episodes until January 7th so come back then and hear what the guys have to say about the next year. We hope that you have a great Christmas and hope to see you at one of our services.
S3 Ep 3Message | The Angel's Song (Luke 2:14)
Luke 2:14…14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”This is one of the most famous lines connected to the Christmas story…Peace on earth. You will see this phrase written in lights…crocheted on pillows…painted on coffee cups…we love to talk about peace this time of year. Peace on earth is a message that everyone can get behind. But don’t miss this…the peace that Jesus came to give…isn’t for everyone.
S3 Ep 2Becoming Better | Zechariah's song
bonusWell, Hey, and Welcome to the Becoming Better Podcast. I am your host, Brendan Krismer, and We are so glad that you are here. On today’s episode, Jason, Josh, and I sit down and discuss. The song of Zechariah in Luke chapter 1, we talk a lot about his son John the Baptist and his role and the role of his ministry all the way through the life of Jesus. But before you continue in this episode. If you have not yet listened to this past Sunday's message, then go ahead and pause now and go listen to that first as that will give you context to this podcast for you. That message can be found wherever you are listening to this podcast and can also be found on our website at Quadcity.church and on our YouTube channel. And as always if you have any comments or questions from last Sundays message then you can submit them at Quadcity.church/podcast as we would love to answer those questions right here on the show. Thank you so much for joining us we hope you enjoy this show.
S3 Ep 2Message | Zechariah's song
Zechariah was a priest, and the father of John the Baptist. He and his wife were very old and unable to have children. Then one day the angel Gabriel visits Zechariah to tell him that God has chosen his family to fulfill the final promise of the Old testament, that they would give birth the the "prophet of the power of Elijah" who would declare and pave the way for the Messiah. Because of his doubts, Zechariah was made mute (and possibly deaf as well) until the birth of his son. When Zechariah names him John, his tongue is released, and the response is praise and thanksgiving in the form of Zechariah's Song.
S3 Ep 1Becoming Better | The Magnificat: Mary's Song of Praise (Luke 1:46-55)
bonusHello and Welcome to the Becoming Better Podcast. My name is Brendan Krismer and I am so glad that you are here. Well on today's episode Jason, Josh and I sit down and talk through how mary was blessed and who Jesus was more blessed in Luke chapter 11. We unpack Luke 1 26-30. Then we discuss the 400 years of silence before the coming of Jesus. As always if you haven't heard the message from Sunday we will encourage you to do so as it will help make this conversation make more sense. Also want to invite you to our Christmas services this year. We will have 8 services across both of our campuses and would love to see you at one of those.
S3 Ep 1Message | The Magnificat: Mary's Song of Praise (Luke 1:46-55)
We don't know a lot about Mary, but we do know from the book of Luke that she was highly favored by God. But why was she so "highly favored?" Why did God choose her as the one to birth and raise the Messiah? What made Mary so special? The answers are found in "The Magnificat" also known as "Mary's Song of Praise" in Luke 1:46-55.
S2 Ep 9Becoming Better | You are the Temple of the Holy Spirit
bonusThanks for joining us on the Becoming Better Podcast. This week, Jason, Josh, and Brendan sit down and wrap up the sermon series that we were in Someone Is Missing. If you have questions that you would love to have answered on the show you can submit them at Quadcity.church/Podcast . We hope that you join us next Sunday as we dive into a new series called "Songs of Christmas".
S2 Ep 9Message | You are the Temple of the Holy Spirit
God once resided with His people in the sinless garden, and later in the Holy of Holies. But today, when the Holy Spirit dwells in us, our bodies become the Holy of Holies. We are the Temple of the Holy Spirit. How should that affect the way we live our lives?
S2 Ep 8Becoming Better | The Miraculous Gifts of the Holy Spirit
bonusWell, hey, and welcome to another episode of the Becoming Better podcast I am your host, Brendan Krismer, and we are so glad you are here. Well, on this episode, Jason, Josh, and I sit down and talk a ton about how to know what gifts of the spirit you have been given and how and when they should be used in the local church expression. The purpose and place of the gift of speaking in tongues. Paul has a lot to say about that one, so we want to make sure we are as clear as possible from the text. As always, if you have any questions or comments on Sunday, message that you would like to be answered here on the Podcast. Then, you can head to Quadcity.church/podcast and submit your questions there. Well, we hope that you enjoy this podcast.
S2 Ep 8Message | The Miraculous Gifts of the Holy Spirit
People get fixated on the miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit. Some say those supernatural gifts don’t apply to us today, while others say that spiritual gifts like healing, prophecy, speaking in tongues, etc, are the only way to know that the Holy Spirit truly dwells in us. Which is correct? What does the Bible say about it?
S2 Ep 7Becoming Better | Learning to be Led by the Holy Spirit
bonusWell, Hey, and welcome to the Becoming Better Podcast. My name is Brendan Krismer, and I am so excited you are here. On this week's episode, Jason, Josh, and I sit down, and we go over practically how to be read by the spirit and dig real deep into the spiritual discipline has role in us doing just that. We talk about what it looks like to read your bible consistently, practice silence and solitude, and get away so that you can intentionally listen to the lord. If you haven't listened to this last Sunday's message, then we encourage you to do so, as it will help to make this conversation make more sense to you. If you have any questions you would love to be answered on the podcast, we invite you to submit them at Quadcity.church/podcast to be answered right here on the show.
S2 Ep 7Message | Learning to be Led by the Holy Spirit
Most people who believe in God expect to be led by the Spirit. The issue isn’t that we don’t want to be led by the Spirit, the issue is that we don’t know how to be led by the Spirit.
S2 Ep 6Becoming Better | What the Spirit is trying to produce.
bonusWell Hey, and welcome to the Becoming Better podcast. My name is Brendan Krismer, and I am so glad that you are here. Well, on this week's podcast, we take the Show on the road. Jason Josh and I and the rest of the team at Quadcity are heading out to our annual staff retreat. just a warning that the audio may get a little wonky since we are recording this on the road but we do hope you enjoy the episode.
S2 Ep 6Message | What the Spirit is trying to produce.
This week, we learn what types of fruit the Holy Spirit is trying to produce in us.
S2 Ep 5Becoming Better | This is what the Holy Spirit WON'T do...
bonusWell, Hey, and Welcome to the Becoming Better Podcast. I am your host Brendan Krismer, and I am so glad you are here. Well, on this episode, Jason, Josh, and I sit down, and we discuss our call to do more than just pray for our friends and family. We also discuss some of the differences between the spirit's actions in the old vs the new covenant. Lastly, at the very end of the episode, we end with a super fun 90s throwback that you will not want to miss. As always, if you have any questions or comments that you would like to be answered on the show. You can submit them at quadcity.church/podcast.
S2 Ep 5Message | This is what the Holy Spirit WON'T do...
What won’t the Holy Spirit do for you? You can rest assure that the Holy Spirit will never: Speak for you, control you, overpower you, replace your need for scripture, or contradict God’s word.
S2 Ep 4Becoming Better | What Does the Holy Spirit Actually Do?
bonusWell, Hey friends, and welcome to another episode of the Becoming Better podcast. I am your host Brendan Krismer, and we’re so glad you’re here. We hope this finds you well wherever and whenever you listen to it. On it Jason, Josh, and I sit down and we discuss how the spirit shows up in our lives, a proper theology of worship involving the spirit at the end of this episode we take a little bit of a turn and discuss revelation chapter seven. if you weren’t able to make it on Sunday or gone back and listen to the message, than I encourage you to go on to help this conversation make much more sense. Additionally, if you weren’t here on Sunday, you wanna go back and watch the full service on our YouTube channel. We were able to share some exciting news in regards to Excel initiative, not only were we able to share how many commitments came in and some exciting stats around those commitments. But we also were able to share the total amounts committed and expected gifts in the Excel initiative over the next two years. As a reminder, These funds are not only gonna help us with our dedication to Jesus and show our willingness and eagerness to grow in the grace of giving but they’re also the same funds going towards our Prescott Valley location, permanent location in Preskett Valley to building balcony in Preskett giving $1 million away to our local global missions partners if you want to hear that part of the message and Jason share that exciting news then go ahead and go to excel.quadcity.church right there is a landing page where the clip from the sermon on Sunday will be posted, last but not least if you have any questions or comments from last Sundays message we do encourage you to join us at QuadCity.church/podcast where you can submit your questions to be answered right here on the show.
S2 Ep 4Message | What Does The Holy Spirit Actually Do?
So what does the Holy Spirit actually do? In a quick summary, He comforts, advocates, intercedes, convicts, guides, teaches, seals our adoption, gives us words to speak, empowers us, helps us, and sanctifies us (just to name a few).
S2 Ep 3Becoming Better | So How Do I Get the Spirit?
bonusWell, welcome to another episode of the Becoming Better podcast. I’m your host, Brendan Krismer. And we are so glad you’re here. Thanks for joining us again. As we are in week three of the series, we are taking a deep dive into the role and Personhood of the holy spirit in the life of a believer. This week's message spurred a ton of questions, and so did Jason. Josh and I sat down. We discussed primarily the role of baptism in our indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and because of how many questions we had on this specific topic, a couple of other topics were revolving around this one. This is a longer episode, about 90 minutes in total, but I do hope that you stay all the way through to the end, even if you have to do it in a couple of sittings, because the last question is a really, really fun one so I do hope that you stick around for that at the very end of this conversation, and as I hope you do see in this conversation your questions really do make these conversations so much more productive for us. So we are grateful if you’ve ever sent any questions, but if not, and you do have any questions, I hope you join us at quadcity.church/podcast where you can submit your question to be answered right here on the Show. as I said, I hope you buckle up for a longer episode of the Becoming Better podcast. Let’s go ahead and jump in now.
S2 Ep 3Message | So How do I get the Spirit?
The Holy Spirit can’t be purchased, so how do I receive Him? Is it when I believe? When I am baptized? Does someone need to lay hands on me? Can the Spirit be taken away?
S2 Ep 2Becoming Better | Isn't Jesus Enough?
bonusWell, welcome to the Becoming Better Podcast (Week 2). Talking about Someone is Missing, deep dive into the Holy Spirit, and on today’s episode, Cory, Jason, and myself, Josh. We discussed Cory and his role with us, specifically at the Prescott Valley campus. Jason shares a little bit about his weekend and his hunting story, which they’re always fantastic, and then we spend just a couple of minutes talking about Israel and Palestine and just stuff that’s happening on that side of the world and have a moment of opportunity to pray. Our intro may be a little longer this week. It’s about 20 minutes, so if you are looking to fast-forward into the conversation about this week's sermon. You can jump over to the 20-minute mark to do that, but we’ll talk about some of the roles of the Holy Spirit, ask why the Holy Spirit isn’t talked about as much, and then we’ll finish off talking about the gender of a God and the gender of the Holy Spirit, and it’s a fantastic conversation as always.
S2 Ep 2Message | Isn't Jesus Enough?
Jesus promised that He wouldn’t leave us as orphans, but rather He would send an Advocate to help us. The Holy Spirit comes as a great promise of the New Covenant. He is the great gift that the Father and Son want to give us.
S2 Ep 1Becoming Better | Let Me Reintroduce Myself
bonusWell, hey, friends, and welcome to another episode of the Becoming Better podcast. I’m your host, Brendan Krismer. We’re so glad you’re here. Well, on today's episode, Jason Josh and I sat down and discussed the launch of a brand new series called "Someone is Missing | A Study on the Holy Spirit," and we talked a lot about why the Trinity has this doctrine of a trying God can be so difficult to understand. As always, if you have any questions from Sunday’s message, please join us at QuadCity.church/podcast, where you can submit your questions to be answered right here on the show. This week, we’ve got four great questions that we get to answer, and it just always gives us such a fruitful conversation when we can directly answer some questions you ask. Last but not least, if you were with us on Sunday, you heard us talk about Candy Crawl. Our Halloween event is approaching, and we need your help. We had a pretty good response of people raising their hands and saying they want to serve candy, but just a reminder, this is the largest outreach event that we do as a church every single year. The point of Candy Crawl is to open up our campus to everyone who trick-or-treats just right down Mount Vernon St. from us people who may or may not have a church background because what we know is we want to give opportunities for people to walk through the doors of the church who may not be comfortable doing so on a Sunday morning and I have a great experience to feel welcomed to allow their kids to have a fun festive Halloween evening and we need your help to do just that to learn more about candy crawler to sign up to serve as part of that event go to QuadCity.church and then look for the event tab we would love to have you serve alongside our team on Halloween all right I hope you enjoy the episode.

S2 Ep 1Message | Let Me Reintroduce Myself
Understanding the person of the Holy Spirit. Talk about the Trinity. Who is he? Who not what? Paraclete. He can be grieved, lied to, pleased, quenched, resisted.
S1 Ep 6Becoming Better | Week 6
bonusWell, hey, and welcome to another episode of the Becoming Better podcast. I am your host, Brendan Krismer, and I am so glad you are here. On this episode, Jason, Josh, and I sit down and wrap up our series in Excel. It’s been an exciting season for our church. We discuss some things that we’re looking forward to over the next couple of years as we see it to Fruition, and we talk about the future we talk about the next series; as always, we would love for you to engage by asking questions or sharing some comments from Sunday’s message you can do so, by joining us at QuadCity.Church/podcast where you can submit your questions to be answered on the show. We hope you enjoy this episode.
S1 Ep 6Excel: Week 6 | Excel in Commitment
It doesn’t matter what you are committing to; it is tempting to walk away. We often make a commitment with excitement and joy, but over time that excitement wanes, and only the commitment remains. The people in Corinth were once excited about joining in the generosity initiative that Paul was inviting them into. But it seems as if that excitement waned, and they needed a little prodding. Today is the day we make a commitment. The question is, what do we need to do to keep it?
S1 Ep 5Becoming Better | Week 5
bonusHey friends, and welcome to another episode of the Becoming Better podcast. I am your host, Brendan Krismer, and we’re so glad you’re here. In today’s episode Josh Ken and I sit down and discuss the financial hoarding warnings in the New Testament and how to know if we have saved too much some practical of how we will track our excel goals and how to stay on mission as a growing church. As always, if you have any questions or comments from Sunday’s message, be sure to join us at QuadCity.church/podcast, where you can submit your questions to be answered right here on the show. We hope you enjoy this episode.
S1 Ep 5Excel: Week 5 | Excel in Thanksgiving
When we invest in the kingdom of God, it has eternal ramifications. We are thankful for those who invested before us, and others will be thankful for our generosity. And we give to God because he first gave to us…and overflow in thanksgiving!
S1 Ep 4Becoming Better | Week 4
bonusWell hey, and, welcome to another episode of Becoming Better podcast. I am your host Brendan Krismer. I’m so glad you’re here. On today’s episode Jason, Josh, and I sit down and discuss other scriptures that talk about generosity and where the idea of a tith comes from, and we take a deep dive into our own financial accountability process here at QuadCity. As always, if you do have any questions or comments from Sunday’s message, I do hope that you join us at QuadCity.Church/podcast where you can submit your questions to be talked about right here on the show. I hope you enjoy this episode.
S1 Ep 4Excel: Week 4 | Excel in giving joyfully!
Like a tip that is mandatory, or a tax that is required, or a gift that is obligatory, compelled giving doesn’t honor the recipient, which is why God loves a cheerful giver. Cheerful giving moves God to act. He promises that he will supply and increase our righteousness. He will enrich us, not so that we will have more…but so that we can be even more generous!
S1 Ep 3Becoming Better | Week 3
bonusWell, hey, and welcome to another episode of Becoming Better. I’m your host, Brendan Krismer, and we’re so glad you’re here on this episode. Jason, Josh, and I sit down, and we discuss the common misconception that the people that have the most are the most generous what it means to Chase after the goal of sacrificial giving, and how debt plays into your ability to get there. as always, if you ever have any questions or comments from Sunday’s message, do me a favor and join us at QuadCity.church/podcast, where you can submit your question to be answered right here on the show or without further ado. I hope you enjoy this episode
S1 Ep 3Excel: Week 3 | Excel in your Sacrifice
Generosity in the church is a shared sacrifice. While not all people can or should give the same amount, we should all give with the same sacrifice. We are called to give according to our means. And our giving will be accepted, according to what we have…in other words…God doesn’t just look at what is given he also looks at what is left. Question: Has your giving grown with your means?
S1 Ep 2Becoming Better | Week 2
bonusWell, Hey friend, welcome to the Becoming Better Podcast. I am your host, Brendan Krismer, and I am so glad you are here. On today’s episode, Jason, Josh, and I sit down, and we discuss optimism versus pessimism, the idolatry of money, and how to move from obligatory giving to eager generosity. As always, if you have any questions from Sunday’s message, we encourage you to join us at QuadCity.Church/podcast where you could submit your questions to be answered right here on the show. The last thing before we dive into today’s episode. Be sure on Friday to scan the QR code in your Excel booklet or just go to the resource page on the Excel website Excel.QuadCity.Church to see our Friday Devo will be dropping every week of this series. This week Josh will be sharing about a five or six-minute Devo about this week's study, and you’re not going to want to miss it. Thanks again for joining us today. Without further we hope you enjoy this episode
S1 Ep 2Excel: Week 2 | Excel in your Eagerness
Generosity isn’t something we have to do; it is something we get to do. Our generosity is an outward reflection of our devotion to God. It reveals the sincerity of our love for God and others. And our sacrificial giving is a reflection of the sacrificial love of Jesus, who went from rich to poor for us!
S1 Ep 1Becoming Better | Week 1
bonusWell, friends Brendan here, and welcome to the first episode of becoming better. Becoming Better is a weekly podcast that takes the message from Sunday and digs deeper in an effort to help each of us become better disciples of Jesus. This is an avenue for further dialog contexts and even a place for your specific questions to be answered from Sunday's message. The reality is that we all want to become better followers of Jesus, and this podcast exists to help us do just that. On today's episode, Jason, Josh, and Brendan sit down and discuss this new season that QuadCity Christian Church is entering. We discuss the new Excel initiative and why we are so excited about what God has in store for us. And we answered many frequently asked questions from our vision night and Excel series. As always, if you have a question from Sunday's message of your own, we hope that you join us at https://quadcity.church/podcast. We hope you enjoy this episode.
S1 Ep 1Excel: Week 1| Excel as a discipleship.
When it comes to surrendering ourselves to Jesus…often the last part of our lives that we surrender is our money. Jesus expects that as Lord of our lives, he is Lord of all. Yet, for many, we live as practical atheists. Where we say we believe in a Gracious God who will supply all our needs, but we live as if God doesn’t exist. As if the only way to have all our needs met is to disobey what the God we believe in commands us to do. And for those who have grown in their discipleship and do give…they believe that giving at all is giving enough. Whether it is an amount or a percentage, there is a line to reach, and once it is crossed…we can check the box forever. But Paul has to teach us that just as we are called to grow in our faith, and grow in our speech and grow in our knowledge, and grow in our earnestness, and grow in our love…we are to keep growing in our generosity. “Gave themselves first to God then by the will of God to us.”
Silence and Solitude - Spiritual Disciplines (Joe Zizz)
Even after Jesus had a full day of ministry, the first thing he would do is retreat to a place by himself to commune with the Father. Why did He do this? What benefit would it be for us to do the same? Silence, solitude, praying, and listening to God were intensional essential times for Jesus and His ministry. Therefore we should consider what that should look like for us in our modern time where constant noise competes for our attention.
PRAYER - Spiritual Disciplines
Special guest Jay Greer from Mustard Seed Network (a church planting ministry in Japan) brings us a message about the importance of spending intentional time praying in humble reverence to our Creator. It's a spiritual discipline that we often feel we are great at, but when we take a closer look at what the Bible says about prayer in our lives, it might be a blind spot we neglect.
SABBATH - Spiritual Disciplines
We live in a culture that values productivity, so many of us are constantly on the move. From our 9-5 to our side hustle, sports tournaments, and hobbies, we have become accustomed to this relentless pursuit of "Busy." But what if there was a practice from the Way of Jesus that directly contradicted the anxious and marginless lives most of us live? As we dive into the spiritual practice of the Sabbath, we see that scripture teaches us that Sabbath is more than just a day off... It is the biblical rhythm that God wrote into the DNA of humanity from the very beginning of time.
COMMUNITY & CONFESSION:
Being fully transparent with people is one of the hardest things to do. However, we see in James chapter 5 the importance of being a part of a community that has confession. When we live out this spiritual discipline of community with confession we find healing and freedom. Community with confession can produce change and help us become better disciples of Jesus.
MEMORIZING SCRIPTURE
Memorizing scripture is not only biblical; it's awesome, and everyone should do (it including you). Be more awesome.
Ep 3BIBLE INTAKE
If you’ve been around church for much time at all, you probably recognize that as Christians, we should be reading our Bibles. But the unfortunate truth is that most Christians aren’t spending time in the Word of God nearly as much as they should be, which may be caused by not understanding how valuable scripture truly is. When we are healthy in our spiritual discipline of Bible intake, we will better know our Lord and become better disciples of Jesus.
S2 Ep 2Serving
Have you ever connected eternal life with service to others? Jesus does. Jesus' words define what love is...His actions demonstrate what love is: Service to others is how we express our love for God. Please join us as we learn to carry out the answer to the question, "Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
S2 Ep 1Fasting
This year during our variety pack, we have some of our pastors sitting down and reviewing some of the Spiritual habits we need to work on as Christians. We are excited for the next seven weeks as we uncover this with you all. I hope you join us this summer in what we call Variety Pack.
