0027: Finding Hope and Comfort in the Plan of Salvation | Understanding the Spirit World
I know I've mentioned it before, but I love to talk about the Plan of Salvation. Some call it the plan of happiness, and today, I want to focus on that part of it; the happiness and hope that can come to us because we know what the plan is. From start to finish, we've been given the Father's plan. In this episode, I'll be talking specifically about the part of the plan that comes between death and the resurrection. We'll explore quotes from President Eyring and President Oaks, insights from Alma chapter 40, and teachings from the temple prep manual. This topic has been on my mind a lot recently, and I felt compelled to share my thoughts with you. Here's what we'll cover: The Importance of the Holy Ghost: A quote from President Eyring about the comfort and hope the Holy Ghost provides. Alma's Teachings on the Spirit World: Insights from Alma chapter 40 about the spirit world and the division between the righteous and the wicked. Personal Stories and Reflections: My personal experiences and thoughts on the topic, including a recent impactful moment at church. Official Church Doctrine vs. Personal Opinion: Understanding the importance of distinguishing between official church doctrine and personal opinions, as highlighted by President Oaks. ✨ Key Takeaways: The Plan of Salvation provides hope and comfort, especially in times of loss. The spirit world is a place of learning and progression. We must trust in the Lord and His plan, even when we don't have all the answers. Thank you for joining me in this discussion. 0024: Having the Holy Ghost as a Constant Companion
Hi everyone, Paisley Imperfect here! Today, we're looking at the vital role of the Holy Ghost in our lives. Throughout our discussions, the common thread has always been about listening to the Spirit and following its guidance. Today, I want to share insights from President Henry B. Eyring's October 2015 talk, "The Holy Ghost as Your Companion," and explore how we can achieve and maintain the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. In This Video, You'll Learn: What the Holy Ghost Does: Warns us to resist temptation. Protects us and our loved ones from increasing temptations. Makes what is good more attractive and temptation less compelling. Gives us the power to discern truth from falsehood. Verifies and confirms eternal truths. Benefits of the Constant Companionship of the Holy Ghost: Never lack knowledge of the truth. Always have strong faith and fullness of joy. Increased power to choose the right. How to Obtain and Keep the Companionship of the Holy Ghost: Have hearts full of charity. Let virtue garnish our thoughts unceasingly. Act on promptings from the Spirit. Pray in faith and study the scriptures diligently. Additionally, I share a personal experience about how the Holy Ghost tried to protect me from temptation and discuss President Eyring's emphasis on the importance of revelation and personal testimony, especially in trying times. Personal Struggles: How I dealt with feelings of abandonment and anger during my infertility journey and how sincere prayer helped me through those tough times. Practical Advice: The importance of addressing God with reverence, but also the significance of starting where you are, no matter how clumsy your words might feel. I reference powerful talks by Elder Scott and President Kimball, emphasizing that Heavenly Father wants to hear from us, no matter how we address Him. We'll also discuss the importance of listening for answers through the Holy Ghost and trusting in God's greater plan for us. Key Quotes: "Prayer is a supernal gift of our Father in Heaven to every soul."; - Elder Scott "It is essential that we really speak to the Lord, having faith that He will reveal to us what we need to know and do for the welfare of our families."; - President Kimball Join me as I share heartfelt stories and practical tips on how to make your prayers more sincere and meaningful. 0021: The Word v. The Sword
Welcome back, everyone! It's Paisley Imperfect here. I apologize for not being on camera today—I'm down with a summer cold, and my puffy eyes aren't exactly camera-ready! In today's brief message, we'll take a quick look at Alma 31:5 and think about how the word of God can be a more effective tool for change than any weapon. With the world facing so many divisive challenges, it's crucial to remember that love and faith can lead us to righteousness and unity. 📖 Scripture of the Day: Alma 31:5 "And now, as the preaching of the word had a great tendency to lead the people to do that which was just—yea, it had had more powerful effect upon the minds of the people than the sword, or anything else, which had happened unto them—therefore Alma thought it was expedient that they should try the virtue of the word of God."; Let's imagine if our leaders today echoed Alma's wisdom. Instead of responding to violence with violence, what if we chose to spread love and God's word? Key Takeaways: Understanding the power of the Word of God over physical force Reflecting on President Nelson's quote: "Satan delights in your misery" Embracing love as our primary motive in all interactions Inspiring others to come to Christ through love and example Thank you for joining me today. Your patience and support mean the world as I recover. I'll be back on Monday with our regular content. Until then, stay blessed and keep spreading love! 0020: Organically Sharing the Gospel
Hi everyone! In this episode, I'll talk about Elder Dallin H. Oaks' October 2016 General Conference talk, "Sharing the Restored Gospel." Elder Oaks provides practical advice on how we can share the gospel, even if it's our first time. Key Takeaways: Pray for the Desire: Seek the motivation to share the gospel. Keep the Commandments: Lead by example and attract others through your faith. Pray for Inspiration: Ask for guidance on how to share the gospel in your unique circumstances. Additional Tips from Elder Oaks: People learn when they are ready, not when we are. Focus on inviting others to learn about Jesus Christ, not just the church. Be authentic and show genuine concern for others. Reach out beyond your immediate circle. Plan special sacrament meetings for visitors. Stay connected with people of all backgrounds. 0017: It’s OK. Keep Going
Hi everyone, it's Paisley Imperfect here! 🌸 Today, I'm sharing three powerful quotes that I recently found on Pinterest, all focused on our journey to becoming better versions of ourselves. 💪✨ Elder Holland reminds us that "if for a while, the harder you try, the harder it gets. Take heart. So it has been with the best people who ever lived." It might get tougher before it gets easier, but we can push through! President Nelson encourages us to "keep studying the scriptures. Keep doing things that build your faith in Jesus Christ. Notice the wise choices you're naturally drawn to make." Our dedication to faith will guide us to better decisions. Brianna Wiest beautifully states, "Your new life is going to cost you your old one. It's going to cost you your comfort zone... but it doesn't matter because the people who are meant for you are going to meet you on the other side." Embrace the changes and let go of what doesn't help you improve. As we strive to improve ourselves and strengthen our faith, remember that it's okay to leave some things behind. This journey might get challenging, but we are on the right path. Keep studying, keep growing, and take heart! 💖 Thanks for joining me today. Have a wonderful week! 0014: Creating Happiness
Hi, everyone! It's Paisley Imperfect back with some reflections on a topic that's been on my mind. Lately, we've been diving deep into President Nelson's talk, "A Plea to My Sisters," and exploring how we can become the best version of ourselves through his guidance. One part that particularly stands out to me is his emphasis on happiness. President Kimball mentioned that we will draw people to the church because we will be distinct and different in happy ways. Happiness is a recurring theme that resonates with me, and it's something I've been striving to understand better. Sister Eubank's talk, "Turn on Your Light," offers a powerful insight into true happiness. She emphasizes that being happy isn't about wearing a plastic smile but about keeping God's laws and lifting others. This brings blessings that trials cannot take away. From these teachings, I've gathered two key points about happiness. First, real happiness stems from our relationship with God. It's an internal feeling, not just an outward display. Second, happiness manifests when we do good for others and see the positive impact of our actions. Reflect on a time when you've helped someone; how did it make you feel? I've faced some personal trials lately, including a significant career change after 14 years with a company I deeply love. This transition has been tough, but it has also provided me with a new perspective on happiness. Despite the challenges, moments with my family, late-night talks with friends, and witnessing my children's growth have brought me genuine happiness. These experiences remind me that happiness isn't about avoiding trials but finding joy amidst them. Sister Eubank beautifully stated, "There is an energy that comes from happiness and optimism that doesn't just bless us. It builds everyone around us." My goal is to cultivate happiness and share it with others, creating an environment where everyone can feel God's love and joy. To wrap up, remember Sister Eubank's words: "Put yourself in a place where you can feel the generous love God has for you." His love and blessings are always within reach, and through keeping His commandments, we can be part of His work and glory, bringing others closer to their Savior. Take some time to reflect on what true happiness means to you. Look around at your loved ones, lend a helping hand, and share your experiences with me. I'd love to hear how you're finding and creating happiness in your life. Comment below, send me an email, or tell me in person. Let's inspire each other to embrace the true essence of happiness. Thank you for joining me today. Your time and presence mean a lot. 0012: What’s Your WHY?
Hey, everyone! Paisley Imperfect here with a fresh message. 🌟 Today, we're diving into a fun topic: why do people strive to improve themselves? 🤔 I've been reflecting on the different traits we can cultivate to become our best selves. But what truly drives us to embark on this journey of self-improvement? Is it just because we're the only ones who can do it? Or simply because life demands it? Or is it something deeper? In this video, I share insights from my research and personal thoughts on the reasons behind self-improvement. From fulfilling personal goals to understanding our divine purpose, join me as we explore various motivations and how they shape our lives. We'll also touch upon powerful quotes from President Nelson, Elder Patrick Kieran, and Sister Sheri L. Dew, to inspire us on our journey. 💡 Don't forget to check out the links below for the articles and talks mentioned in this episode! 0011: Being A Significant Force
Hey everyone, Paisley Imperfect here with another thought-provoking message! 🌟 I was trying to decide which of the many things we pulled from President Nelson's talk, "A Plea to My Sisters"; to start working on first and stumbled on a landing page I'd never seen before (link below). The page is titled, "The Vital Role of Women"; and has six great talks on it that we should all take a good long look at. For this episode, though, I chose to look at Sharon Eubank's talk called, "Turn On Your Light."; Join me as we dig in a little and learn more about Sister Eubank's main points: Be Righteous Be Articulate Be Different Be Distinct Be Happy You can check out her full talk here: Turn On Your Light (churchofjesuschrist.org) Feel free to like, comment, and subscribe for more weekly messages and discussions. 0010: Make-a-Plan Monday
In today's Make-a-Plan Monday we're going to dive right in and look at what's there in the Come, Follow Me plan. Remember the three D's from last time: Decide, Document, Do! This week's chapters and talks include: Alma 13 Alma 14 Alma 15 Alma 16 "Spiritual Treasures"; "The Priesthood and the Savior's Atoning Power"; "Overcome the World and Find Rest" "Infuriating Unfairness"; My goal is to read or listen to at least one chapter in Alma or one of those talks each day this week. Alma 13 and 14 are about 8 and 9 minutes (respectively), and if I combine chapters 15 and 16 that's about 10 minutes total. That would leave me open the other nights of the week for those talks ("Infuriating Unfairness"; is one of my favorites so I'm hoping to get that one in!). This week will be a challenge because I'm working full time and have kids attending various camps, but prioritizing scripture study is key for me. I've got my plan documented and now it's time to execute! What's your plan? Share it with me; I'd love to see it! Thanks for joining; happy studying! #MakeAPlanMonday #BookOfMormon #ComeFollowMe #LDS #ScriptureStudy #ChurchOfJesusChrist

0009: We Are Needed! Us and Our Strong Personalities!
Hey everyone, welcome back! 🌟 This month, we've been focusing on the theme of being still, but today, we're shifting gears. We're diving into how to harness our strong personalities, inspired by President Nelson's talk, "A Plea to My Sisters." In this episode, I've categorized his teachings into seven key areas: character, vision, wisdom, strength, faith, listening to the Spirit, and grit. Join me as I break down each category a little bit more. Whether it's developing our character, using our intuition, applying our wisdom, strengthening our families, deepening our faith, listening to the Spirit, or demonstrating grit, there's so much we can learn and grow from. Let's embark on this journey together and use our strong personalities for good. #StrongPersonalities #PresidentNelson #Faith #Character #Vision #Wisdom #Strength #ListeningToTheSpirit #Grit #WomenOfFaith #PersonalDevelopment #LDS #SpiritualGrowth #Inspiration #HarnessYourStrength 🙏 Don't forget to like and subscribe for more spiritual study tips! 0008: Being Still and Strong
Hey everyone! 🌟 It's Paisley Imperfect back again, and today, we're diving into something a bit different. I've been reflecting on the idea of having a strong personality and how it's often perceived negatively. Inspired by Elder Ballard's devotional "Be Still and Know That I Am God" and President Nelson's powerful words from "A Plea to My Sisters," I realized that having a strong personality can be a blessing, not a curse. 🙌 In this video, I explore these teachings and share how we, especially as women of faith, can harness our strong personalities to make a positive impact. We'll discuss how to balance strength with happiness and how to work on personal growth together. #StrongWomen #FaithJourney #PersonalGrowth #PaisleyImperfect #LDSWomen #BeStillAndKnow #APleaToMySisters Stay connected: 🙏 Don't forget to like and subscribe for more spiritual study tips! 0007: Make-a-Plan Monday
Hey everyone! Welcome back to our third "Make-a-Plan Monday". In today's video, I'm excited to introduce you to a concept I stumbled across this week: the Three Ds of making a plan - Decide, Document, Do. 📝✨ 📌 Three Ds of Making a Plan: Decide: Look at what's available and decide what you can realistically accomplish. Document: Use a premade list or template to write down your plan and prioritize your tasks. Do: Follow through, check off your tasks, and celebrate your wins! This week, I'll be focusing on my scripture study from June 17th to 23rd, which includes chapters Alma 8-12 from the Book of Mormon and the Come Follow Me manual. 📅 My Weekly Plan: Decide: Check my calendar to see how much I can handle this week. Document: Use the Gospel Library app on my iPad to create a plan and prioritize my scripture reading. Do: Read or listen, check off each task, and celebrate my progress! Join me in making a plan for this week and let's share our journeys together! What's your plan for the week? Let me know in the comments below. 0006: 7 Tools for Building Our Personal Foundation
Hi there! Paisley Imperfect again! This month we've been exploring the theme of stillness, but today, let's shift gears and talk about building our foundation. Inspired by Elder Bednar's talk, I've been reflecting on my own spiritual foundation and what might be missing. Building a foundation is a lifelong journey. Think of it as laying the groundwork for our heavenly mansion. We stand on this foundation every day, and while some days are better than others, our efforts are cumulative and eternal. Today, I'll share insights from various articles and talks, outlining essential tools to strengthen our spiritual foundations. From quality prayer and daily scripture study to selfless service and following prophetic counsel, these practices help us build an unfailing foundation. Join me as we dive deep into these tools and remember: you are a child of God. Embrace your divine identity and continue building your foundation with faith and diligence.Thank you for watching! 0005: Building Stillness in Our Foundation
Hello again! Before diving into Elder Bednar's profound talk from the recent General Conference, I need to correct an error about Alma from last week's video. I mistakenly said that Alma the elder became the first chief judge of the Nephites, but it was actually Alma the younger. He took on the role when Mosiah's sons chose missions over kingship. Thanks for bearing with me as I set the record straight! Now, let's explore Elder Bednar's talk, "Be Still, and Know That I Am God."; This month, we've been focusing on finding stillness, and Elder Bednar provides valuable insights on how to create and build it. He emphasizes the importance of relying on the Savior and building our spiritual foundation on Him, referencing Helaman 5:12. Join me as we delve deeper into what it means to be still and how we can achieve this spiritual stillness by building our lives on the rock of Jesus Christ. I'll share my personal reflections on stillness and how it aligns with Elder Bednar's teachings. 0003: Theme - Calming the Storm? Or the Sailor?
Hey everyone! It's Paisley Imperfect here with another video about finding stillness in our busy lives. Today, we're diving into an article from the February 2023 Liahona magazine titled "Peace, Be Still: Calming Our Storms" by Stephen Turcotte, who was part of the physics faculty at BYU-Idaho. I love how he brings physics into the explanation of Jesus' miracles. The article starts with a powerful thought: "The Lord's miracles showed that sometimes He calms the storm, and sometimes He calms the sailor."; This really resonated with me. It made me wonder if God is calming the storm around me or if He's calming me. We'll look at two miracles from the article. The first is when Jesus calmed the storm on the Sea of Galilee. Despite the apostles' fear, Jesus rebuked the wind and sea, demonstrating His mastery over the elements and providing a lesson on faith. Stephen Turcotte explains the weather dynamics of the Sea of Galilee, showing Jesus' profound understanding of nature. This miracle teaches us that as we deepen our faith, we can become less affected by life's storms. The second miracle is when Jesus walked on water. Peter attempted to join Him but started sinking when his fear overtook his faith. Jesus saved him, showing us that sometimes, we must step out in faith amidst our storms. We need to trust in the Savior's power to help us overcome our fears. I want to share a personal story. Last month was tough for me, filled with misunderstandings and gossip. Instead of letting it fester, I confronted the issue directly. It was uncomfortable, but it led to a positive resolution and deeper understanding among friends. This experience showed me that sometimes, God doesn't calm the storm; He calms us. I also drew inspiration from Alma's story in Mosiah 26. When faced with a problem, Alma sought advice from a friend and then turned to the Lord. His troubled heart found peace through seeking divine guidance, just as I did. Thank you for joining me today. I hope this discussion helps you find your own stillness. If you enjoyed this video, please like, subscribe, and share. Let's continue this journey together towards peace and faith. 0002: Finding Refuge From the Storms of Life
Being Still | Finding Refuge from the Storms of Life Hi there! Paisley Imperfect here. 🌿 This month, we're diving into the theme of being still. After a rough May filled with hard emotions, hurtful gossip, and challenging situations, I found myself seeking relief and kept hearing, "Be still." It took some time for the message to sink in, but eventually, it resonated deeply. In today's video, I'm sharing insights from Elder Ricardo P. Gimenez's talk from April 2020, "Finding Refuge from the Storms of Life."; He discusses facing unexpected challenges and how suffering is universal, but our reactions are individual. His words reminded me that faith is the antidote for fear and that true joy comes from our Savior, Jesus Christ. Throughout June, let's explore what being still means for each of us. Whether it's a sticky note reminder, yoga, meaningful prayers, or another practice, let's find our way to stillness and refuge. Thank you for joining me on this journey. I hope this video helps you find peace and refuge in your own life. 🌿 Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more insights and inspiration! 🌿 #BeStill #FindingRefuge #Faith #JuneChallenge #PaisleyImperfect Links and Resources: Elder Ricardo P.
