0129: Make-a-Plan Monday | December 1-7

It looks like we’re going to be learning about temple work and its role in the redemption of the dead. I think it’s so beautiful that Heavenly Father prepared a way for all of those millions/billions of people who’ve never heard of Him or Jesus Christ to still have an opportunity to choose to make covenants with Him. Even if it’s after this life and well into the next one. I love how all of the little things were thought of and covered in the Plan of Redemption. Lots of people have talked about temple work. I’ve made our usual checklist that includes the talks, videos, and book chapters shown in this week’s “Come, Follow Me” lesson plan. You can check it out here: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-december-1-7/ Thank you so much for doing this with me! It’s so cool to know that we’re all working through the same things every week! #ScriptureStudy #ComeFollowMe2025 #DoctrineAndCovenants #RedemptionOfTheDead #TempleWork #GatheringIsrael

0128: Make-a-Plan Monday | November 24-30

It’s a sad week. We’ll be reading about the martyrdom of Joseph and Hyrum Smith and then about the beginning of the Saints’ trek west. What a hard time for them. We get to watch a part of President Holland’s talk about his testimony of the Book of Mormon. I remember when he gave that talk – it’s stuck with me ever since. How has your testimony changed this year? Do you feel closer to the people who came before us? Do you have stronger faith in the Book of Mormon and/or Joseph Smith? What’s changed for you as you’ve read, studied, and pondered this year’s “Come, Follow Me” lessons? There’s quite a bit this week. As you can probably imagine, a lot of people have born testimony of Joseph Smith’s call over the years. I’ve created two checklists to pick from. List A averages about 19-20 minutes every day, and list B averages about 28. You can find both of them here: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-november-24-30/ Tell me in the comments how you’ve changed this year. I would love to hear about it! #ScriptureStudy #ComeFollowMe2025 #DoctrineAndCovenants

0127: Make-a-Plan Monday | November 17-23

It’s interesting to me that President Oaks became our new Prophet right before we got to these two sections of the Doctrine and Covenants. Section 133 is about preparing ourselves for the Second Coming (which we’ve heard a LOT about lately), but section 134 is about governments and how they’re supposed to serve the people. President Oaks was a justice of the Utah Supreme Court – he knows a bit about governments and how they’re supposed to work. I also find it interesting that he’s our prophet now when it seems like our government is a bit of a mess (it has been for a while – this isn’t a new thing). As we prepare for the second coming, what should our government look like? Is it supposed to be in chaos? Or should things be calm?  It’s not a mistake. Our Heavenly Father has a plan and it’s in motion. And the best part? We get to CHOOSE which part we play in that plan.  There isn’t a lot of stuff to review this week – our average study time is only about 15-16 minutes each day. You can find the complete checklist here: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-november-17-23/ I would love to hear from you. What do you think about what these two sections are teaching us? #ScriptureStudy #DoctrineAndCovenants #ComeFollowMe2025 #SecondComing

0120: Make-a-Plan Monday | September 29 - October 5

How do you feel when you leave the temple? Do you feel the angels around you? Do you feel like you’re armed with the power of God? What does that feel like for you? I love going to the temple because when I’m there I feel like I’m home. We are so blessed to have so many around the world. There’s only one checklist this week, and we’re averaging about 20 minutes every day. Lots of good stuff specific to the Kirtland temple, but also quite a bit that’s applicable to us. There are at least 2 talks by President Nelson – the most applicable prophet to us. You can find the list here: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-september-29-october-5/ Thanks for joining me! #ScriptureStudy #DoctrineAndCovenants #ComeFollowMe2025

0126: Make-a-Plan Monday | November 11-16

This week could be triggering for some. We’re digging into marriage and families and polygamy. Please remember that we teach the ideal so that when (if) we make it to the celestial kingdom, we won’t be surprised by how it’s organized. We also need to learn about the ideal because that’s what we should be striving for. That doesn’t mean we will all get it, and our Father in Heaven knows that.  I’ve divided it up to an average of about a half-an-hour each day. A few days are longer and at least one of them is shorter. You can find the full checklist here: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-november-10-16/ Thank you so much for coming back! #ScriptureStudy #ComeFollowMe2025 #Polygamy #DoctrineAndCovenants

There’s a lot of “information” about baptisms for the dead out there. Before you believe something you read online, please go to the source. Then, if you don’t quite understand what you’re reading, please ask someone you know who does. If you don’t feel comfortable asking someone you know, you can set up a time to meet with some missionaries who would be happy to answer your questions. You can click on this link to set up an appointment: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/welcome/meet-with-missionaries?lang=eng I’ve created two different plans for us this week: Plan A: Average of about 16 minutes every day.Plan B: Average of about 24 minutes every day. You can find both lists at https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-november-3-9/. I would love to hear about what you learn this week. Maybe it was even something you relearned. Let me know! 0124: Make-a-Plan Monday | October 27 – November 2

There’s a lot going on this week and quite a few things to study. Do the best you can, but don’t burn yourself out. There’s so much that I’ve created two different plans.  Plan A will take, on average, about 24 minutes every day. The only section of the Doctrine & Covenants that we’re looking at this week is over 38 minutes by itself.  Plan B will take about an hour and 12 minutes every day. I don’t think we’ve had one that heavy since … Easter? But it’s all good stuff. From the Nauvoo temple, to patriarchal blessings, and beginning the trek west, there’s so much to learn, review, or remember. Don’t let the length of things discourage you. Your Father in Heaven knows what you can do and He only expects you to try. You can find both plans here: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-october-27-november-1/  Thanks for showing up! #ScriptureStudy #DoctrineAndCovenants #NauvooTemple #ComeFollowMe2025 #PatriarchalBlessings

When you’re feeling particularly down – left out, forgotten, depressed, stressed, or just wondering when things might get better – what do you do? Where do you go to find comfort or reassurance?  D&C section 122 is a favorite of mine. When I’m feeling out of sorts or stuck (or any of those other things above) I like to go to this section for a reminder that everything is going to work out. All of the hard things we have to go through are for our good. They’ll help make us stronger, more compassionate, more patient, or just smarter. Often there is no other way to get the experience (and knowledge or wisdom) that we’ll get from the really hard things. As you read section 122 this time around, remember Joseph and what he was struggling with and then think about the times when you felt like you were in your own Liberty Jail. We’ve discovered our own Sacred Grove, but what about those Liberty Jails? There are two checklists this week because there is a lot to cover. You can find them both here: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-october-20-26/ Keep your experiences sacred, but please make sure you’re sharing them when directed by the Holy Ghost. Your experiences are valuable to you and to others. We can learn so much from the things that we share, and the things that are shared with us. Thank you for being you.  #DoctrineAndCovenants #Overcoming #ComeFollowMe2025 #PersonalGrowth #ScriptureStudy

It looks like we’re going to be learning about tithing quite a bit this week. What has your experience with tithing be? For me… I pay it and I believe I’m being blessed, but I also don’t think that I fully recognize what blessings are specific to paying my tithing. What about you? There are a lot of things to look at this week, but we’re still only averaging about 20 minutes every day. Check out the full list here: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-october-13-19/ Thanks for sticking around! 0121: Make-a-Plan Monday | October 6-12

It’s probably safe to say that we’ve all had our faith and courage tested at some time or another – I know I certainly have.  Those who came before us faced those struggles too. They came in different forms and in different ways than ours do, but they came. This week, we get to learn more about a few of those trials in Doctrine & Covenants sections 111-114. We’re averaging about 12 minutes every day, but Wednesday and Saturday. Wednesday is just under 6 minutes and Saturday is at over 17. Feel free to split up that 17-minute chapter in Saints and do some of it on Wednesday if that works better for you. Here’s the checklist for this week: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-october-6-12/ Also – I would love to hear about your favorite General Conference talk! 0119: Make-a-Plan Monday | September 22-28

This week we get to learn more about how the Church was organized in its really early days. There’s more than that though. Check out the first paragraph in the “Come, Follow Me” manual for this week: “But there’s so much more to the divine instruction in section 107 than just how Church leadership should be organized. Here, the Lord teaches us about His power and authority, ‘the Holy Priesthood, after the Order of the Son of God’ (verse 3). The purpose of the priesthood is to unlock ‘all the spiritual blessings of the church’ so that all of God’s children can ‘have the heavens opened unto them’ and ‘enjoy the communion and presence of God the Father, and Jesus the mediator of the new covenant’ (verses 18–19). In teaching us about His priesthood, the Savior is teaching us about Himself and how we can come unto Him.” Isn’t that beautiful? The more I learn about the priesthood and my role in it, the more grateful I am for the Plan of Salvation and the opportunities available to all of us as we progress on the covenant path. Thanks for coming along on this journey with me! It looks like we’re going to be learning more about Zion’s Camp this week. I have a feeling, however, that we’re also going to be learning about how we can help create Zion now.  There’s a LOT to get into this week, and two checklists to choose from. List A averages about 26 minutes every day, and List B averages about 31 minutes. Both are posted here: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-september-15-21/ How are you working to help create Zion already? 0117: Make-a-Plan Monday | September 8-14

There’s a lot to look at this week, and it looks like it’s mostly about trials and adversity. It also looks like there are a lot of opportunities to apply how the Saints back then handled their trials, to how we handle our own. If you’re anything like me, that’s intimidating. Their trials seem so much worse than mine will ever be. BUT here’s the thing. We are different people going through different things. Some of the things I struggle with, you would find easy and possibly even laughable. And the same is true for me. Sometimes when I hear that someone is struggling with something that I think is simple or easy, I find myself judging them for not being able to get through it “better.” Shame on me. Heavenly Father gives us different struggles because we are different. We cannot go through this life exactly the same as anyone else – we would lose our uniqueness and some of our agency. That’s not to say that we can’t use our experiences to help others – that’s actually part of the point. We can! We can use our experience and our talents, gifts, and opportunities to help each other. And we should. Anyway – here’s the links to the lists this week. Yep – listS. There are two. The difference between them is that there are 3 chapters from Saints, Volume 1 on list B. List A has us studying for about 20 minutes every day, and list B has us at 29. That’s a 10 minute difference (about) so it was worth creating the two different lists. Have fun! https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-september-8-14/ #ScriptureStudy #ComeFollowMe2025 #DoctrineAndCovenants

0116: Make-a-Plan Monday | September 1-7

We get to learn more about the Kirtland temple this week, but also more about temples in general. There’s even an opportunity to look at the General Handbook and see what it says about our endowment. I’m excited! We’re looking at about 15 minutes every day this week, which is doable. Here’s the checklist to help keep us on track: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-september-1-7/ I’ve also been studying some other things lately and maybe it’s time I share. If you’re interested in seeing some of the things I’ve found about the Atonement, Spiritual Gifts, and the Plan of Salvation, check out paisleyimperfect.com and click on what’s most interesting to you. Thank you all for your constant support! I hope you’re loving the Doctrine & Covenants this year and, more importantly, that you’re growing closer to your Savior. #ScriptureStudy #DoctrineAndCovenants #ComeFollowMe2025

0115: Make-a-Plan Monday | August 25-31

This week we’re looking at section 93 of the Doctrine & Covenants. Based on the section header and the titles of the talks we’ll be looking at this week, we’re going to learn more about how to be more diligent in our homes so we can create “A Home Where the Spirit of the Lord Dwells.” I don’t know about you, but I could use all the help I can get. We can get through all the things this week with only an average of about 12 minutes every day! Two of the days are less than 8 minutes. Here’s the checklist for easy download: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-august-25-31/ What are some things that you’ve done in your homes over the years that have helped make it more peaceful, inviting, calm, and a place where your family wants to be? #ScriptureStudy #ComeFollowMe2025 #DoctrineAndCovenants

0114: Make-a-Plan Monday | August 18-24

We get to look at four sections of the Doctrine & Covenants this week - the first one being section 89 which contains the Word of Wisdom. I think we tend to remember the "don'ts" of the Word of Wisdom, but many of us fail to remember the "do's". This time, as we go through it, see if you can focus on the things we should do, rather than the things we shouldn't have. Does that make a difference for you? I know that it has for me. This week's checklist has us studying for about 15 minutes every day. You can download it here: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-august-18-24/ What are you looking forward to getting into the most this week? I think I'm most excited to listen to Elder Gong's talk on Thursday. Let me know what you're looking forward to! #ScriptureStudy #DoctrineAndCovenants #ComeFollowMe2025

0113: Make-a-Plan Monday | August 11-17

I read through the intro to Doctrine & Covenants 88 and it looks like it has a lot of stuff that's applicable to us. Of course I realize that all of the scriptures are applicable to us, but this section talks about faith, light, obedience, laws, sanctification, and signs of the Second Coming. It also talks about establishing a temple. As a Church, we're establishing temples everywhere! You can download this week's full checklist here: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-august-11-17/ I would love to hear about what you learn (or relearn) this week in your studies. Which talks helped you the most? What did you need to hear? Thanks everyone! #ComeFollowMe2025 #ScriptureStudy #DoctrineAndCovenants

0112: Make-a-Plan Monday | August 4-10

It's great that we had a little time last week to work on our family history because this week it looks like we're going to be learning about keeping a journal. Did you know that keeping a journal “counts” as doing family history? You're recording your own personal history and that's worth a lot to the people who come after us. To be completely transparent; I am a horrible journal keeper. Frankly, I use Instagram and Facebook as my journals. That and some photo backups. You'll get no judgement from me on how well you keep your own journal. There isn't a ton this week ; just enough to keep us busy every day for about 12 minutes. You can find the full checklist here: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-august-4-10/ How do you like to keep a journal? Or do you? #ScriptureStudy #DoctrineAndCovenants #ComeFollowMe2025

0111: Make-a-Plan Monday | July 28 - August 3

It looks like we're going to be learning more about the priesthood this week. I've learned a lot in the last year or so about how, as a woman, I can use the priesthood. Without getting too deep into it right here, there's a difference between the power of the priesthood and the authority of the priesthood. When we receive our endowment in the temple, part of it is being endowed with priesthood power. In our callings we have authority to act within the parameters of our calling under the authority of the priesthood. I feel like our Church leaders are teaching us more and more about this and I get really excited when I learn new stuff! You can find the full checklist here: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-july-28-august-3/ Spoiler; Friday is open for some family history work! I would love to hear about what you learn about the priesthood this time around. I love hearing it! Have a great week! #ScriptureStudy #ComeFollowMe2025 #DoctrineAndCovenants

Have you ever felt different after being set apart for a calling? And then felt different again when you were released? It's happened to me. That's a very "watered down"; version of what we're going to learn a little about this week. We're already into sections 81-83 of the Doctrine & Covenants. Can you believe it? This has been the most meaningful study of this book that I've had so far. You can find this week's checklist here: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-july-21-27/ Thanks for being here and for being you!
