S2 Ep 57#57: "Your Story Matters"
#57: "Your Story Matters" In this Monday Mindset Episode we talk about how all of our stories matter. When we are going through difficult times we tend to retreat from the world and hide. It is our way of avoiding being hurt, judged, criticized or even being seen. The problem is that living this way provides no solutions and definitely no changes! Today I share the tops reasons why our stories all matter. When we acknowledge that our stories, experiences and lessons are the make-up of who we are and who we are becoming, we truly can find and create freedom in our lives. In this episode we talk about: 1. Our stories all matter because we all matter. Everyone has something to contribute, share and give in this world and our stories create who we are. They make a massive impact in our lives and the sooner we acknowledge that, the sooner we can be on the path to being "free" from the weight of our stories. 2. Learn to stand ON your story instead of IN it. The reason why it feels like your story doesn't matter is because you are continuing to live in it. When we live in it, we are on a repeat cycle of frustration, comparison, resentment, anger and victimhood. No change comes from this cycle. 3. Our stories connect us, remind us that we are human and not alone. We all crave human connection, and we are connected by our stories, our pain and our emotions. We are more alike that different and when we stop giving our stories so much power we actually take back that power to help ourselves feel stronger. 4. What is the purpose or reason for your story? How is it nudging you to become the person you were meant to become? Finding a purpose in our stories, realizing that it is not all about us anymore can truly create a massive shift in our healing and in our energy! 5. Recall a time when you were searching for a solution to a problem and you came across a Facebook group or an online group and realized that there were so many other people struggling with the same thing. When we realize that we are not alone is when we stop judging ourselves for how we have handled our story. This small shift, realizing we are not alone can truly change everything. S2 Ep 55#55: "The Shortcuts to Success"
#55: "The Shortcuts to Success" In this Monday Mindset Episode we talk about the shortcut to success. Coming off the early bird launch of my Collaborative Book program last week, left me so grateful and excited, and truthfully with an empty tank. As we push towards deadlines and goals, it is so important to increase our self-care plan. It actually requires MORE self-care as we strive towards our goals, and for some reason that is when we actually do less self-care. We tend to continue on that track until we feel like we are going to implode! If you find yourself on a perpetual cycle of give, give, give and your cup is bone dry, then this episode is for you!! Today I share the tops tips I focus on when I am feeling burnt out and how I ground myself to get back on track, and fill my cup to overflow. In this episode we talk about: 1. Learning to listen to the signs, the whispers our body gives us before it starts screaming at us. 2. Turn off technology, set your timers, and stop incessantly scrolling. That only throws us into comparison and doesn't serve us or the life we are working to create. 3. Ask yourself what is missing, literally ask your body, mind what it needs? Does it need nature, rest, water, yoga, time with a friend, or time alone? Ask the question and be prepared for an answer. We always know the answers. 4. Set clearer intentions at the beginning of the week. I don't set goals, I set intentions. It is not a to do list. It is an intention list, that includes my health, fitness, nutrition, spirituality, short term and long-term goal planning etc. Then everything goes into my google calendar, colour coded before I start the week. 5. Cut yourself some slack, Seriously! Self-compassion is an absolute MUST! I talk about how hopelessness feeds into powerlessness and how to break that cycle! 6. Rest, water, nature, mediation, journaling, doing nothing or doing whatever you need to do to fill your cup to overflow, do that and do more of it! S2 Ep 54#54: "The Price of Perfection – How New Moms are Set up to Fail with Amanda Ingram"
#54: "The Price of Perfection – How New Moms are Set up to Fail with Amanda Ingram" Today we chat with Amanda Ingram. Amanda is the Glow Igniter and owner of Embrace & Glow. She has seen and experienced first-hand how new moms are made to feel bad about their bodies after having their babies. In fact, research shows that 60% of women wish they had their pre baby bodies back, bodies that don't even exist anymore. Her mission is to help them embrace their new bodies and Ignite their Momma Glow creating a world where millions of women are celebrating how powerful they are and redefining how we speak about postpartum bodies. "After having my first child I felt an immense pressure to listen to all of the messages I was receiving telling me bounce back and do it all. I punished my body through intense exercise all in the attempt to look as though I had never had a baby, to fit into society's ideals. I instead ended up stressed out and discovering I had not one but two prolapses. It was a huge blow. But it was also a gift. I discovered that there was a different way to view my body that the changes it went through were ones that should be celebrated, that I was powerful for having my baby not weak because of it. With my second pregnancy I honoured the time I needed to recover. I took the time to get to know the woman and mother I had become and build a strong foundation of body and mind. I now share what I learned with others mother in the hopes that no one feels the way I did again." Amanda offers an online program called, "Ignite Your Mamma Glow", that helps mothers go from feeling lost to limitless. Amanda also offers a Facebook community called, "Ignite Your Momma Glow" and she offers 30 minute "Grow You Glow" Coaching Calls. In this episode we talk about: 1. How we physically look is not equal to self-worth and self-worth is a completely different thing. 2. A lot can change when we stop owning the limiting beliefs of others. We can learn to build contrary evidence to change our limiting beliefs. 3. When we are setting goals without addressing the mindset piece, we do not set ourselves up for success. All goals should be set for us and not for others. 4. Self-compassion is one of Amanda's greatest lessons and she teaches this as a priority for her clients especially as new mom's. 5. Post baby it is important to recognize what our body has just accomplished instead of punishing it for not being where we think it should be by a certain time frame. 6. The mask of perfectionism and how it is impossible to maintain. 7. What we tend to believe is our weakness often ends up being our superpower! S2 Ep 53#53: The Journey of Sharing My Story
#53: "The Journey of Sharing My Story" In this Monday Mindset episode we talk about the my journey of sharing my story. Many people see me today and assume it has been easy. I wasn't vocal about my struggles during the early years. I didn't share the challenges, the pain or emotions. I was carrying a shield that made it impossible to feel or share my feelings. I wasn't ready to be vulnerable. Today I share the feelings before and after I learned to share my story. I share insight into the emotions and how hard that growth journey was and still can be in the present day. It is never as easy as it looks on the outside. I hope you find the freedom from owning and sharing your story. You won't believe the weight of it, until you decide to let it go. My wish is to help you to learn to stop standing in your story and learn to stand on it. In this episode we talk about: 1. My life before I decided to share my story. All of the emotions, pain, heartache I was experiencing. 2. How I shared my story one of the very first times live on CBC Radio and how my life changed almost instantly. 3. The immediate relief of learning that I was not alone and how this created a fuel inside of me to believe my purpose was to continue to share my story to help others. 4. How I changed myself and this changed how I handled my story, without changing our story. 5. The freedom I never anticipated finding. 6. The motivation to continue to teach others the power of owning their stories in their lives. 7. Taking this motivation one step further by teaching others how to share their stories and build a business to continue to impact others. This is a massive ripple effect that I am grateful to be a part of! S2 Ep 51#51: "You Cannot Give What You Do Not Have"
#51: "You Cannot Give What You Do Not Have" In this Monday Mindset episode we talk about the fact that you cannot give what you do not have. When your cup is completely dry, and you self-care game is lacking because life keeps throwing you massive challenges, it is time to break the cycle. It is the time to stop pushing and doing the do, and time to slow down and create space to allow grace, self-compassion, self-love, self-care, forgiveness and so much more to become the top priority. We cannot give what we do not have! In this episode we talk about: 1. Our stories happen to us for a reason, giving a purpose (instead of asking why) to our stories can be very healing for our journey. 2. Recognizing that we are done, we have no more to give to others. Instead of pushing to complete breakdown it is necessary to break the cycle and stop. 3. Shifting our words, perspective, language and thoughts can reframe what is happening to us. 4. Feel the feelings and emotions, if you need to cry, then cry. Numbing and blocking the feelings only delays the healing and gives power to the emotions instead of back to us! 5. Only when we learn to give to ourselves first can we truly give to others. 6. Focus on controlling what we can control, our responses, reactions, and our actions are all our choices. 7. The incredible opportunity to share our stories in the upcoming collaborative book and mastermind launching the first week of June. S2 Ep 49#49: "The Light at the End of the Tunnel Isn't for You"
#49: "The Light at the End of the Tunnel Isn't for You" In this Monday Mindset episode we talk about finding our way to the light at the end of the tunnel. Sometimes we find ourselves at the light and we forget how we got there…how many decisions, actions, tools, strategies we used to get there. In that space, others can reach out to connect to ask "how did we get there?" When we get to this space of working through our challenges, we may feel called to share our journey, and to take it one step further we may be called to pay it forward by building a platform of a business (speaking, coaching or writing) to increase our reach and support even more people! The light at the end of the tunnel isn't there to shine on us. It is there to shine through us to light the way for others to in turn find their way to the others side. If we are being called to do this, it is up to us to embrace this responsibility as it is truly "our purpose". Our mess truly has become our message! In this episode we talk about: 1. Our stories happen to us for a reason, giving a purpose to our stories can be very healing for our journey. 2. Recognizing what helped us to get to this point in our journey and honouring ALL the steps, no matter how small they may seem. 3. Embracing our calling to build our platform to impact others and to do so unapologetically! 4. The incredible opportunity to share our stories in the upcoming collaborative book and mastermind launching the first week of June. 5. The power of each of us stepping into our purpose, shining that light through us instead of on us, and how that can in turn help so many other people! 6. Understanding that some of us have been dealt unbelievable life challenges and that is calling us to a big level in life to do something with our stories. S2 Ep 47#47: "Stop Apologizing for Your Message"
#47: "Stop Apologizing for Your Message" In this Monday Mindset episode we talk about the power of owning our stories and why we should stop apologizing for our sharing our message. Our stories happen to us for a reason, and wanting to do something with our stories, building a business to serve, impact and support others is not something to be ashamed of. It is something to be proud of. We are passing the lessons onto others and shortening their learning curve. In this episode we talk about: 1. Our stories happen to us for a reason, giving a purpose to our stories can be very healing for our journey. 2. Not everyone will understand our journey and that is ok; they have their own journey to live with and be on. 3. I applaud and encourage people to talk about the stories that no one else wants to talk about; yet, these are exactly the stories that people spend endless hours on google searching for the answers. 4. The louder we speak, the more we use our voice to share our stories, the bigger the dent/impact we make on the power shame has over our lives. 5. Sometimes life truly takes balls of steel, the heart of a lion and the soul of an angel. Be proud if you have these ingredients! 6. Step up to make a massive impact and do it unapologetically. The lessons, experiences, the wins and falls all make up your platform of impact. Don't feel guilty for building a business to support others and charge for your services. You went to school for a LONG time to gain this experience! 7. Changing our bodies through physical transformations requires addressing our thoughts, feelings and choices. This work comes first and is the only way to work toward creating lasting change! 7. Patience, trusting the process and belief will always take us further. S2 Ep 45#45: "Is it Time to Raise Your Standards?"
#45: "Is it Time to Raise Your Standards?" In this Monday Mindset episode we talk about creating change in our life by raising our standards and deciding that we want more for our lives. We must be the catalyst for change, it all starts with the internal work. Our life doesn't change on its own, it changes by deciding to commit to doing the work to create change. Today I share the importance of being that catalyst and raising our standards, expecting more for our lives. In this episode we talk about: 1. We teach people how to treat us, and we decide to let the gossip or criticism dictate how we live our life. It is our choice how we let this impact us. 2. We decide the standards for what we want to create, how we want to live and how we want that life to play out. We can't choose what happens to us, we can choose how we responds what happens to us. 3. Everything can change when we own our story, honour our values, and create boundaries to support our life. 4. If we make ourselves a priority in our lives, and increase our self-care practice, we can change how we respond to what happens in our lives. 5. Respecting our energy and choosing to surround ourselves with people who help us grow, raise our energy and believe in what we are capable of. 6. We can be the catalyst and we can change our story at any time we choose to. S2 Ep 43#43: "The Storms We Walk Through"
#43: "The Storms We Walk Through" In this Monday Mindset episode we talk about what happens when we find ourselves in a storm, how easy it is to assume that we are alone and no one else "understands", and how to shift the energy and not stay in that space. I share 6 tools that I used and still use when I am stuck in a storm. It takes practice to shift that negative energy, yet it is so worth it because staying tied to that anchor will never lead to creating any positive change in our lives. Today I share the importance of recognizing and honouring that sometimes we are stuck in a storm and how to shift it to walk through that storm even stronger on the other side. In this episode we talk about: 1. The power/importance of self-care in the storms, and literally every day. 2. Determining "what" you can own, and what isn't yours to own. 3. How to focus on controlling what you can control and the power of surrender to let go of everything else. 4. Recognizing where you do have power in your life and where you are not using it. Also understanding the power of asking for help and the giving and receiving aspect of accepting help from others. 5. Shifting our energy by pouring kindness and compassion into others to shift ourselves and support others. 6. Deciding to show up as the person you want to have in your life. Be that person and your people will find you. 7. Remember that the storm will come and it will pass. Let it pass through and build yourself to be stronger because of the storm. S2 Ep 4141: "Loving Your Puzzle Pieces"
#41: "Loving Your Puzzle Pieces" In this Monday Mindset episode we talk about blooming where we are planted and appreciating each step of the process. When we step back and look at our journeys and learn how to own our stories, we tend to see in hindsight that there are puzzle pieces that have come together to help us get to where we are today. Each puzzle piece is important to creating the whole picture and sometimes we need to be reminded to love on each puzzle piece. Today I share the importance of recognizing and reflecting on our puzzle pieces. In this episode we talk about: 1. Grounding ourselves and learning to bloom where we are planted in the present moment, every step is truly part of our journey. 2. We have all overcome one challenge in our life that we never thought we would, and in reflection we are more capable, persistence and stronger than we tend to think. 3. Recognizing our puzzle pieces and how each one has an integral part of creating our life picture. Every piece of the puzzle is important and necessary. 4. The power of putting the puzzle together to own our stories and ultimately rewrite our stories. 5. Slowing down to appreciate all of the steps we have travelled to get to where we are today. They are trying to teach us something about ourselves. In this episode we talk about: 1. Triggers show us something that is unresolved in our lives. 2. Triggers represent toxic, trapped emotions that given the right circumstances (people, words, situations), can blow up and leave us feeling completely out of control…the exact opposite of what we are trying to do. 3. Short term solutions vs long term solutions for triggers. 4. Triggers are an invitation and a door opener for change to start. 5. Learning to step into the story where triggers have no power and you smile as if you are recognizing an old friend.
