Ep 163OSMinterview! Vedetta Marie & ScatterDOTFashion @ MTAC In Love
EVedetta Marie ScatterDOTFashion Sometimes, you gotta spin the wheel, play the cards, hit the Greed button in an MMO and hope you come out of the dungeon with a pretty cool new thing. At this past MTAC (that MTAC In Love con you’ve been hearing so much from us about?), we took a chance. We had an interview that we seriously had no clue what was going to happen. Thankfully, we came out of it with a pretty cool new thing! And that thing is this interview. We got the chance to sit down and chat with Vedetta Marie and ScatterDOTFashion, a cosplay and Japanese fashion due par excellance. Now, you may think that the OSMcast is nothing but glamor, pizazz, and fashionability, but really all we know about fashion comes from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures and Paradise Kiss. Which isn’t nearly enough keep up with these fashionista kids. However, they are totally cool people and it ended up being a really fun talk. Would chat with again! Five stars (Out of OSM, obviously)! OSMnotes We want to give a gigantic thanks to both Vedetta Marie, ScatterDOTFashion, and MTAC for the chance for the interview. And since it was more press conference style, we were’t the only ones there asking the questions! You also heard questions from Charlie from the Chainsaw Buffet, as well as Andrew from A Man and His Pod, among others. So big shout outs to them as well. Yes, we gave them shout outs before, and will likely do so again. In, you know, about a week or two. Next week, what could it be?! Well we haven’t recorded yet, buuuuuuut it’s probably Godzilla.

Ep 162OSMcast! Samurai Flamenco 5-12-2014
EJUST ONE uh… something? Just one.. Yeah… What happens when you get a starry-eyed fresh cut vigilante paired up with an only slightly-nonsense cop? Oh, and make it an anime? You get Samurai Flamenco, animated by Manglobe. What happens wehn you get some people talking into a microphone about an anime about a starry-eyed fresh cut vigilante paired up with an only slightly-nonsense cop? You get a podcast about Samurai Flamenco. OSMnotes Watch Samurai Flamenco on Crunchyroll and stuff. You should get on that. And have some Time Cues , while you’re here: We start the OSMcast!ing – 00:00 General Gabbing – 00:37 Moments of OSM – 4:49 Dragon Quest Minute – 5:12 Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars- 6:38 The Green Dragon Public House – 8:17 Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn – 12:37 Season of Spoooorts: Haikyu!! – 18:14 Samurai Flamenco The Not So Spoilery Flamenco 22:27 The Spoilery Flamenco – 42:42 The Oh So Spoilery Flamenco – 61:22 Questions from Listeners Like You about Samurai Flamenco – 75:42 OSMs Out of OSM – 93:05

Ep 161OSMinterview! Samantha Inoue-Harte @ MTAC In Love
EThe Hatmaster. Or Meister. Anime loves Meisters. We’re not done MTAC in Lovin’ yet, folks! We had a chance to sit down several amazing people during this year MTAC, and we have only just begun releasing those interviews! But out of all of them, Samantha Inoue-Harte might be the most interesting of bunch. At the very least, she has them all beat in just sheer quantities of hats she has worn throughout the years. We’re talking animator hats, voice over artist hats, producer hats, gore effects person hats, and more but pretty much all around delightful hats. Lately, according to MTAC, “Samantha is a Producer and Partner at Animetropolis, a boutique transmedia studio that develops and produces compelling cross-cultural creative content with partnering Japanese Anime studios. Animetropolis partnered with IDA (International Digital Artists) as production partner and lead animation unit for a Japanese/American co-produced CG-animated feature adaptation of Tailchaser’s Song, the acclaimed best-selling fantasy novel by author Tad Williams.” She talks about that, and a whole lot more. So much more. OSMnotes We want to give a gigantic thanks to both Samantha Inoue-Harte and MTAC for the chance for the interview. And since it was more press conference style, we were’t the only ones there asking the questions! You also heard questions from John and Charlie from the Chainsaw Buffet, as well as Andrew from A Man and His Pod, among others. So big shout outs to them as well. Yes, we gave them shout outs before, and will likely do so again. In, you know, about a week or two. But what’s next week going to hold? Flamencos. Samurais. Samurai Flamenco.

Ep 160OSMcast! MTAC In Love 4-28-2014
EAnother Year, another Easter, another MTAC. Like in years of the past, we ventured into the Middle Tennessee Anime Convention for their latest year, MTAC In Love. But. were we in love with the con this year? Well, like any loving relationship, we had our ups, and our downs. There were some missed communications, but at the same time there were moments of bliss. Ultimately though, at the end of the day or con or whatever, we could look into each other’s eyes and see that the fire was still there. Speaking of loving relationships, we are once again joined at the hip with the Chainsaw Buffet podcast for this episode. We wouldn’t want to have it anyother way. OSMnotes Next week, we’ll be updating! Again! With another interview! How exciting! But hold your horses folks, but we still have Time Cues. Oh boy! We start the OSMcast!ing – 00:00 General Gabbing – 00:34 Middle Tennessee Anime Convention (In Love!) Ep 159OSMinterview! Dan Green @ MTAC In Love
EIt’s time to ta- ta- ta- talk! At MTAC in Love, we got the rare opportunity to interview the king of games himself, Dan Green. Dan Green is an American voice actor, voice director and script adapter who has worked for 4Kids Entertainment, DuArt Film and Video, NYAV Post and Central Park Media. He is best known as the voice of Yugi Muto from Yu-Gi-Oh!, Trudge from Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s, Knuckles the Echidna in Sonic X and some of the Sonic the Hedgehog video games, and is also known for his script adaptions of Kurokami: The Animation and Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn. This was Dan’s first appearance at an American anime convention to date. OSMnotes We want to give a gigantic thanks to both Dan Green and MTAC for the chance for the interview. And since it was more press conference style, we were’t the only ones there asking the questions! You also heard questions from John and Charlie from the Chainsaw Buffet, as well as Andrew from A Man and His Pod, among others. So big shout outs to them as well. Next week will be our traditional recorded late at night with Chainsaws MTAC podcast that I’m sure everyone is excited for!

Ep 158OSMcast! Kill la Kill 4-14-2014
EDon’t lose your- Man does that joke get old? So far… no! No time for filler introductions, this OSMcast is about studio Trigger’s first time to really shine and put on it’s Sunday Best for their latest show: Kill la Kill. It reunites director Hiroyuki Imaishi and writer Kazuki Nakashima of Gurren Lagann fame, and we talk all about it. We also talk about the merits of owning a Nintendo 3DS versus a Playstation Vita, star kiddies, dwarf planets, braving and defaulting some more, shadows, gears, solids, and more! BUT THEN A WHOLE LOT of kills, las, and some more kills. OSMnotes Watch it! There are a whole bunch of ways. Also, we’ll be heading to MTAC this weekend! Much like Kami-con, no panels… Until Basil shows up at some anyway. Hopefully we’ll see Dylan’s latest game! He has at least 2-3 days to make it! If you see him, make sure to ask about it. Ep 156OSMcast! Wolf Children 3-17-2014
ELook, it may come as a surprise to discover that the children might also be wolves. But don’t worry, it’s cool. So when we last OSMcast!ed we ended up trying a Japanese animated film from an acclaimed filmmaker, we ended up not liking the film nearly as much as we hoped. This time, we decided to go back to our standard method of talking about something we knew we already really liked. Which, so it goes, ended up being yet another Japanese animated film from yet another acclaimed filmmaker: Mamoru Hosoda’s and Studio Madhouse’s film, Wolf Children. Of course we talk about many other things beforehand, like how magical farts can be, why dragons need to be kicked, and er, iPhone games? Also, something or other about Norway? Geez what were we thinking… OSMnotes Buy Wolf Children! Right now, it’s looking like our next update is happening right before April 1st. How… auspicious. But worry you not, OSMfriends. We take every update and podcast incredibly seriously. No joking around here! Ep 155OSMcast? Show #115: The Wind Rises
EThis past weekend the OSMcast decided to hit up our local cinema and see the latest (and perhaps last) film by Hayao Miyazaki, and Studio Ghibli. And as it turns out, it’s kind of a conflicted movie. So here is our own conflicted take on this dual adaption of both the life of Jiro Horikoshi, the man who designed the Mitsubishi A6M Zero, as well as Tatsuo Hori’s short story, The Wind Has Risen. It’s probably not the most glowing review of the movie you’ll find around, and might a touch spoiler-y here and there. But before you think we are all a bunch of sourpusses, we make sure to gush about some Japanese RPGs and some other things!OSMnotesTheoretically, the movie should still be in theaters! Here’s a link to the movie’s website. If you can go, you should. To at very least, make up your own minds about the film. And then let us know what you think!Unless you hated what we thought. In which case, you know what to do.But until then, have some Time Cues:We start the OSMcast!ing – 00:00General Gabbing – 00:48MOMENTS OF OSMBravely Default – 05:30Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII – 12:05American Horror Story – 17:45Dog Backpacks- 22:40The Wind Rises- 27:31OSMs Out of OSM – 60:35

Ep 154OSMcast! Kami-Con Season 6 2-17-2014
EKami-Con Season 6: Heartless in Wonderland, where the hearts roam free and wild and uh, less? In our first con report of 2014, we decided to head down to Birmingham, AL to check out Kami-Con‘s sixth year. As it turns out, we had a great time at the con! Sadly, not such a great time in the city. However, you’ll be able to hear all about the good, the bad, and the awesome contained in audio form therein! We also brought back our “REALLY real real” segments for this conquestable podcast. What are those, you may ask? The “REALLY real real” segments are when we go forth and talk to the con goers themselves on how they enjoyed the con and their own person highlights. Sometimes they get their own episode, but this time we decided to included them during the breaks. OSMnotes And we mentioned it during the podcast, but once again we want to congratulate Ray and Chelsea on their getting married and wish them nothing but the best. We also wish Kami-Con the best but the con itself did not get married. That would have been weird. But you know what aren’t weird? Time Cues! Ep 146Bonus! Geek Media Expo Volume 5 Recap with Chainsaw Buffet
ESo with Hamacon’s Minicon going on this past Saturday (Which went very well thank you for asking!), we did not have a chance to record an OSMcast proper. However, we didn’t want to leave you hanging and as it just so happens… Basil was on the latest episode of the Chainsaw Buffet talking about GMX, Tennessee’s Geek Media Expo. Listen in on talks of Peggle! Awesome shojo-esque Kickstarters! How Basil reads books! AND SO MUCH MORE!

Ep 145OSMcast! When Planning is Few, Impromptu Will Do 10-28-2013
EYeah, I got nuthin. But chainsaws. Why hello there! Would you like a podcast? Because we have one! The story of this podcast is thus: Basil was super busy and did not have to plan or assemble a normal OSMcast, and so enlisted the mightiest warriors from throughout the land. And ended up with John and Dylan from the Chainsaw Buffet. And as we had more Buffet than OSM this time, the podcast runs the gambit of wild and crazy things such as TV shows, anime, table top gaming, and more. It’s a cornucopia of a scattershot of topics that will be sure to please one and all. Or at least Hisui. OSMnotes LOOK YOU ARE LUCKY TO GET A PODCAST, ALRIGHT?! We’ll try to get some time cues in here, but no promises.

Ep 144OSMcast! Anime Weekend Atlanta 2013 10-14-2013
EAWA 2013 So here we are. A podcast about Anime Weekend Atlanta 2013. A podcast about Anime Weekend Atlanta 2013 with Basil and Kevin as well as Charlie and Dylan from the Chainsaw Buffet. A podcast about Anime Weekend Atlanta 2013 with Basil and Kevin as well as Charlie and Dylan from the Chainsaw Buffet where they talk about many things, from the sudden conventions growth, to food trucks, to what they did, panels that we were, lines that were long, fun that was had, some food trucks again, and just how big of a Carl Horn fanboy really is Basil, anyway? So in other words, it was a podcast about Anime Weekend Atlanta 2013. OSMnotes This was recorded on Sunday, edited all night on Monday, and released before we went to sleep. Ep 142OSMcast! The Legend of Korra: Book One, Air 9-16-2013
EMmmm, cartoons! They are the best. So, you may have heard about this Korra cartoon THING that just had it’s second season opener and you may wonder if you should go back and catch the first season. But hey, if you ARE wondering that, well we have the answer for you! Short answer: Yes, of course you should. We even did an OSMcast all about it. Long answer: You listen to our latest episode that tells you all about it. That’s right here. You can just click about or download it or maybe you have done one of those things. In that case you should have already begun watching the first season. If you haven’t, I guess just listen to the podcast again. TL;DR: This episode of the OSMcast is about The Legend of Korra: Book One, Air. It’s a pretty cool cartoon made by Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino and a sequel to Avatar: the Last Aibender. You can go listen to us yap on about how cool we think it is. OSMnotes Firstly, here’s a link to the Blu-ray of the first season. Here’s a link to the DVD version. Secondly, ACTUAL SHOW NOTES?! Those sure are some TIME CUES. Now how about some PANEL CUES?! Panel Cues for Anime Weekend Atlanta, as told to Basil by way of AWA unless things change which they totally can! Manga You Need to Buy Right Now! (9/27/13 3:30 PM-4:30 PM | CGC – 104): Manga, the world of Japanese comics. There used to be an absolute ton of these things on the market, but times are changing… and not for the better. However, there are still a great many series and one shots that are being published today. And we’re going to tell you all about them! Petals and Penguins: The Work of Kunihiko Ikuhara (9/28/13 5:00 PM-6:00 PM | CGC – 106): The creator and director of Revolutionary Girl Utena, Kunihiko Ikuhara is a man who loves imagery. And metaphor. And messing with your mind. His works make you think, make you feel, and usually not in the ways you’re probably meant to when you started your day. But yet, we always keep coming back for more. From his start in the anime adaption of Sailor Moon, to Penguindrum and beyond, we look into the twisted body of work that has defined Kunihiko Ikuhara. Getting Your Anime Groove Back (9/29/13 11:00 AM-12:00 PM | CGC – 104): Anime burn out happens all the time. Sometimes life gets in the way and people lose interest in keeping up with the latest shows and news. This panel looks at a few shows that may rekindle that anime fan deep inside that just wants to be free again. The Weird Side of Go Nagai (9/29/13 2:30 PM-3:30 PM | CGC – 106): While Go Nagai is easily one of the most prolific and influential anime and manga creators of our time, not everyone knows his stranger side. Sure, some anime fans may know the popular stuff like Cutie Honey or Mazinger Z, but what about Aztechkaiser; a tokusatsu pro-wrestling live action show where the hero beats his enemies by turning into animation? Now that’s weird! Boy that sure was a whole lot of cues!

Ep 141OSMcast! Otakon 2013 9-2-2013
EOTAKON 2013 AUGUST 9-10-11, 2013 Con season* is upon us again folks and this time the OSMcast went to one of the biggest anime cons of them all: Otakon! The anime con SO big the city it is in can barely contain it. And so big, the OSMcast alone could not handle it. Well, we probably could but we thought it would be fun to chat about the con with some friends. And what better friends could we have asked than Daryl and Gerald of the Anime World Order podcast!? True friends, you know the kind that make sure to get their burger orders right, so that nothing terrible can happen. … As you listen, you may discover that we may not be the best judge of character, at least with THAT criteria! But all that, and more, so much more on this episode of the OSMcast! OSMnotes Here is the Otakon 2013 mug. The Chi’s Sweet Home is used for scale. Sorry for the couple of days hiccup, folks! But things are back on track! We would once again like to thank Otakon for their kindness and generosity for letting us cover their convention, and to thank Gerald and Daryl for taking the time to chat with us! Also we’d like to thank Ink for letting us use his picture of Basil before the Yoko Kanno concert! By the way, he did a great write up about the concert for Ani-Gamers that you should check out! *No not the webcomic GEEZ although it’s pretty cool you should check it out.

Ep 140OSMcast! OSM100: The 100th Episode and 5 Years of Podcasting of the OSMcast! 8-19-2013
EYikes, time moves forward what’s the deal with that. 5 years and change ago, three idiots with a microphone sat down and started talking into it. Then, they turned that microphone on. And plugged it into a computer. And conned a friend to edit the audio. And created a podcast. Today, those same idiots release their 100th full-featured episode. This the OSM100, where the OSMcast looks back to the eerie past of the five years ago, to today, and to the future. We thank you all for this most amazing and well, awesome ride, and thank you for sticking with us for so long. Here’s to 100 more.

Ep 139OSMcast! Pacific Rim 8-5-2013
ESorry folks there are no more blockbusters now, this one took all the blocks. Well, when when we decided to podcast about monsters we created a monster podcast. Clocking in with 2 hours and change, the OSMcast returns with a rousing episode dedicated to Guillermo del Toro’s love letter all things giant, monster, and robot, the movie Pacific Rim. We also talk about comments and emails and things! BUT NOT ONLY THAT, we also dig into Shin Megami Tensei IV, Shadowrun Returns, Free!!, The Eccentric Family, and more. And by more we mean Overdrift, which will make more sense at the end than at the beginning. So strap in and get ready to drift into some OSMcast~ OSMnotes SO GO SEE THIS MOVIE ALREADY OKAY thanks a bunch folks. As we said, Basil and Kevin will be at Otakon maybe we shall see you there! But at any rate, please feel free to send us comments, and emails, Facebook us, or whatever correspondence you like to send our way. We always appreciate it.

Ep 138OSMcast! Level E 7-22-2013
EAnd when you see Micah at conventions, make sure you ask him for that Fresh Tokyo Smile. He’ll appreciate it! In a world where ALIENS live on EARTH and listen to podcasts that no HUMANS know about… That’s right in our latest episode of the OSMcast we are chatting about Studio Pierrot’s and David Production’s anime adaption of Yoshihiro Togashi’s Level E. We are joined by our fellows the Chainsaw Buffet as well as the man, the myth, the LEGEND (in our own minds) Micah Solusod. Who also happens to be the voice actor for the up and coming baseball player Yukitaka Tsutsui, and much like character is known for his Fresh Tokyo Smile. OSMnotes BUY IT. STREAM IT. STREAM IT SOME MORE. It’s Good Stuff™. One might even say… OSMstuff. I mean, OSMstuff™. And once again, much thanks for Micah for coming on and chatting with us this year. You should immediately go read his webcomic Ties That Bind_ right now_. It’s also OSMstuff®©£¥¶™. Two updates on the correct updating schedule MY word what have we gotten ourselves into?! Now people will start to expect things from us oh man what have we done… Thankfully, Otakon is coming up and we going again this year! This should provide plenty of chances for recording goodness, if the last time is any indication. So if you see, well hear, us, say hi!

Ep 137OSMcast! Penguindrum 7-8-2013
EThanks a bunch for coming back to anime, Kunihiko Ikuhara. We appreciate it. In the latest, greatest, and most Fabulous Max episode of the OSMcast_!_ to date, we talk about all sorts of things. But by far the most important thing we talk about in this episode is all about Kunihiko Ikuhara’s (with studio Brain’s Base) latest project, Penguindrum. Or as the cool kids liked to call it, Mawaru Penguindrum. And we talk about it. A lot! You might even say we liked the show, or something. But probably not. It’s not like this show is over two hours long. Why would we ever do that?! Spoilers: You can totally say we like the show. OSMnotes As we mentioned during the podcast, Sentai Filmworks has released the show on Blu-ray and DVD and Amazon has it for $45-$35 a set at the moment. Which is a pretty awesome deal, befitting of an awesome show. Set 1 on Blu-ray | Set 2 on Blu-ray | Set 1 on DVD | Set 2 on DVD Unleash your walle- I’m sorry I can’t go through with that pun. but please check out Shaintar: Legends Unleashed. It’s a good time. In other news, if you like tabletop role-playing games, fantasy, and portraying awesome characters in a fantasy setting tabletop role-playing experiences, boy do we have a link for you! Sean Patrick Fannon’s magnum opus, Shaintar: Legends Unleashed, is being kickstarted right this very second and you still have time to give him your cash by way of Amazon Payments. Basil has called Shaintar “It’s like Lord of the Rings meets Die Hard,” and it’s about as awesome as it sounds. It uses Savage Worlds as the tabletop system, which is a pretty great one. The system was born from Deadlands, which was this awesome horror-western game. As it turns out, it’s just as good for epic high fantasy. You should check it out! Speaking of awesome tabletop games, Shadowrun 5th Edition is hitting soon and we are so hyped you have no idea. Also the Shadowrun Returns PC game is imminent and that could destroy us. BUT WORRY NOT. Because, we already have the next episode recorded! So be back in a week after next as we talk about space aliens and baseball.

Ep 136OSMtable: A Very, VERY Late Roundtable about Toonami
EHey folks this was a podcast re recorded last year at Hamacon 3 about Toonami with the Chainsaw guys and voice-over artist Micah Solusod. We had a lot of fun please listen also come to Hamacon 4 it’s in Huntsville this week it’s gonna be great and oh god our panels aren’t done what are we gonna do oh gooooodddd

Ep 135OSMinterview! Nao Yazawa @ MTAC Devil’s Dozen
ENao Yazawa This episode of the OSMcast! is one of those chances that when presented to you, you just have to take. It’s a truly rare thing to get to interview a creator of something that you love, and even rarer for it to be someone from another country. In this case, it was manga and and a manga creator from Japan. Specifically, we had the most wondrous opportunity to talk with Nao Yazawa, who has created such things as Wedding Peach, Nozomi, and most recently a series called Moon and Blood. We got to chat about her experience at cons, creating manga, and more. It was conducted at this year’s MTAC. Some may even know it as MTAC Devil’s Dozen. OSMnotes Once again, gigantic thanks for MTAC and Nao Yazawa for this opportunity to chat with her. While Wedding Peach is out of print, it’s currently not the hardest thing to track down. That said, Moon and Blood is very much in print, very shojo-riffic, and is a pretty enjoyable read. This is coming from Basil, who normally can tolerate vampire stuff only as Castlevania and Hellsing. The manga page in question that Kevin asked about. And as a favor we would like to ask the world: Like we mentioned in our previous MTAC podcast, when you have a chance to see a panel or talk to the creator of something? Take it. When it comes down to it, it’s that craziness that rests beneath their cranium that gives all the awesome in the world. The shows, games, comics that we get to experience and talk about in tweets, blogs, audio recordings set loose upon the internet. In many ways they are unsung heroes and heroines, and they are some of the most important people around in geekdom. In other OSMnews, we already have the next episode mostly ready, so you should see an actual update next Monday! It is the last long lost episode we had left in the Pile of Shame that was last year, a roundtable about Toonami with the Chainsaw Buffet and Voice-Over Actor Supreme Micah Solusod. It’s only almost a year out of date! That’s still fresh, right? RIGHT? So anyway look forward to it!

Ep 134OSMcast! MTAC Devil’s Dozen 4-11-2013
EMTAC Devil’s Dozen March 29-31, 2013 It’s currently raining like mad out here in Alabama so what better time to curl up, grab a beverage of your choosing, and listen to us as we spin the yarn of MTAC 2013, aka MTAC Devil’s Dozen. The hopes, the dreams, the tribulations, the successes, and all the rest that this con brought to us, nay, the world. Including, not to the fault of the con, the worst panel we have ever, EVER been to! Listen in as Basil gets angrier than he ever does in life. And he works retail! As per Official OSMcast Guidelines, we are joined at the hip by the Chainsaw Buffet podcast. OSMnotes MTAC’s next year is going to full of LOVE so that should prove interesting! Speaking of love, we are planning to release our interview with Nao Yazawa this upcoming Monday. As I think we mentioned during the podcast it was kinda split into two small segments and Basil is currently figuring how to best handle that. And after that, we’ll have a LONG LOST EPISODE brought forth from the year previous year. It’s about the relaunch of Toonami! Topical. That’s the OSMcast Guarantee!™

Ep 133OSMinterview! Mark Meer @ Momocon 2013
EIt’s like he’s pointing at himself! In tonight’s ACTION PACKED episode of the OSMcast!. we team up with the Chainsaw Buffet to interview one Mark Meer at Momocon 2013. You probably have heard him giving voice to the male half of everyone’s favorite Commander on the Citadel, Commander Shepard of Mass Effect*. As it turns out, he’s worked with BioWare for much longer than one might be aware! *Not that the OSMcast has liked the Mass Effect series of games or anything. OSMnotes We’d just like to thank Momocon and Mark Meer for letting him chat it up with us, even if all it did was make us wish we could have talked with him more! Also, hey did you see the new website? We have one! It’s looks all NEW. Unless this is your first time, in which case it probably looks all old. Or at least normal, I guess. Either way, welcome! If you haven’t checked us out lately, please peruse our Index of OSM, the archive of all our audio to date. As it turns out we have been running on and on for five years and you tend to accumulate a bunch of stuff in that time! In fact, we are dangerously close to hitting episode 100! If you have any ideas for that, let us know! We’re plumb out.

Ep 132OSMcast! Momocon 2013 3-35-2013
EMomocon 2013 What the- A podcast posted by the OSMcast! about a con that is more recent than a year ago, perhaps even posted within the month it actually OCCURRED in?! Could… we be actually getting our act together!? Maybe! Although really it’s with the help of the wonderful, gallant, and lovely gents from the Chainsaw Buffet, our ever awesome OSM compadres from the land of the North (of Alabama, in Tennessee). Once more, we have teamed up our forces to bring you the tales of derring-do! This time, we have dared Momocon: Atlanta’s Anime, Animation, and Gaming Convention. And we have returned to audio spin those yarns! OSMnotes Speaking of cons, we will be heading out this weekend to the Middle Tennessee Anime Convention, or you know, MTAC. As is his want, Basil will be hosting some panels at the con! They are: Even More Manga You Need to BUY RIGHT NOW (Friday 10 AM, Fan Panel 2) Manga, the world of Japanese comics. There used to be an absolute ton of these things on the market, but times are changing and not for the better. However, there are still a great many series and one shots that are being published today! And we are going to tell you all about them! Engrish Jamboree (Friday, 3PM, Panel 2) Rs may not be Ls but when you are speaking English in Japanese the lures go light out the window! The Engrish Jamboree is what happens when you take one language and churn it through another language with hilarious results. Anime and Live-Action clips, music videos, if people are fumbling through English, we got it. Getting Your Anime Groove Back (Saturday, 9PM, Panel 2) Anime burn out happens all the time. Sometimes life gets in the way and people lose interest in keeping up with the latest shows and news. This panel looks at a few shows that may rekindle that anime fan deep inside that just wants to be free again. Of course, times for these things can always change. We’ll see you… next week! Or perhaps… EVEN SOONER?! We have some smaller, more bite sized episodes we can upload. So you will be hearing more from us much sooner than one would normally think.

Ep 131OSMcast! MTAC Omega 2-28-2013
EMTAC Omega. Another world, another time. And our first actual episode of 2013! Recorded in 2012! It is the interview we had with some of the wonderful people that run MTAC we recorded on site last year. Sadly the file is the most tsun tsun file we have ever had and as such is mostly unedited. But the staff we got to talk to are anything but dere as they tell us all sorts of things about last MTAC and this upcoming MTAC. Which you should totally go to. To MTAC. Go to MTAC. Also Momocon.

Ep 130BONUS: Geek Media Expo Volume 4: Doug Walker by way of Chainsaw Buffet
EWelcome to 2013! The usher in this bold new year, we decided to run content that we were in as an update so you know that we are not quite yet out of the game. And by we, I mean Kevin. He joined up with the Chainsaw Buffet guys at this past GMX to talk to “That Guy With The Glasses” himself, Doug Walker, to talk about his past, present, and upcoming projects. Or so UNDERSCORE JOHNNY GO claims. Next week, something no one HAS EVER HEARD OF BEFORE!!!!!!!!!

Ep 129OSMcast! GMX Vol. 4 11-14-2012
EGeek Media Expo Volume Number Four It’s Catch Up Week* here at the OSMcast where we realize that the Chainsaw Buffet guys posted audio we were in and so we should PROBABLY post that up as well. So for today’s** Catch Up we have got for you the greatest GMX Vol. 4 topic-ed podcats a podcast could podcast about in a podcast. Basil and Kevin from the OSMcast throw down with John, Charlie, and Dylan-chan* from the Chainsaw Buffet to rap about all things GMX Volumed The Fourth. The guests, the events, the DENZELS, and all the rest, here on OSMbuffet Isle! *Actually it’s just today. **We posted both Catch Ups today. *** OSMnotes I thought we should point out that the Chainsaw guys are celebrating their FIFTH BIRTHDAY this year and and now that they enter their Fabulous Fives we hope that they continue on in epic fashion. While at GMX, they filmed several of us recording some of our most loved memories from their fives years of existence, in a documentary that is all 100 percent true and factual. It’s in three parts, and you can find all three here, here, and also here. Coincidentally. in March the OSMcast will ALSO turn 5! Also, as this is episode 93, next year (hopefully) we will be reaching OSMcast 100! 100 episodes! One hundred! ONE HUNDR THEHELL THATSALOTOF EPISODES So please let us know how you think we should celebrate this! Because we have no clue!

Ep 128The Rob Paulsen Press Conference at GMX Vol. 4
EHellooooooo, Rob! It’s Catch Up Week* here at the OSMcast where we realize that the Chainsaw Buffet guys posted audio we were in and so we should PROBABLY post that up as well. So for today’s** Catch Up we have got for you the audio from the press conference the wonderful people at GMX set up for Rob Paulsen. Chances are, Rob has voiced everyone from cartoons you cared out that wasn’t done by Steve Blum*** or John DiMaggio***. He’s the the voice behind Raphael from the 1987 cartoon of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Yakko Warner and Dr. Otto Scratchansniff from Animaniacs, Pinky from Pinky and the Brain and Animaniacs, and ALSO voice of Donatello from the NEW Ninja Turtles cartoon. And he’s also pretty amazing. But chances are you know that already****! *Actually it’s just today. **We posted both Catch Ups today. ***HINT HINT, GMX! ****You know that already because you already listened to this thanks to the Chainsaw Buffet podcast. Right? RIGHT??

Ep 127OSMinterview: Jessica Straus @ HAMACON 3
EJessica Straus This is ACTION PACKED episode full of DRAMA AND PATHOS Basil interviews voice over artist Jessica Straus! She has done many a voice from many a thing, like Juri from Super Street Fighter IV, the Amazon in Diablo 2, Gidget from Eureka 7, Sasha from Infamous 2, and a whole bunch more. And we should point out, while we are known far and wide throughout the land as the podcast that asks HARD HITTING questions, we don’t think you have heard questions asked quite like some of these. This could be both our greatest and worst interview ever done to date. OSMnotes An update?! On a Monday! What is this…? I dunno but maybe it will continue…??? This interview is dedicated to Dylan of the Chainsaw Buffet podcast and website au gratin, the Habe of My Heart and Soul Dylan is the moe-est!

Ep 126OSMcast! Anime Weekend Atlanta 2012 9-29-2012
EAWA 2012 OK so you would THINK we would release the MTAC podcast before the AWA but that would make sense now wouldn’t it? WELL TOO BAD DEARIES. The Habe of My Heart, Dylan edited this up so it goes up now! He even posted a description I’m gonna totally steal but then edit so why did I bother who knows: Basil, Kevin, and Mike from the OSMcast and Hamacon join Charlie, Dylan, and John from the Chainsaw Buffet at Anime Weekend Atlanta in the wee hours of the morning to talk about the con, the experience of the frequent con-goer, running panels, and… a lot of other things. We forget. It was really late, OK? OSMnotes New episode on Monday! Now I have to commit! EDIT: Unrelated but VERY IMPORTANT: Unrelated but important:

Ep 125OSMcast! Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance 3-12-2012
EGhost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance And here it is, the long lost episode that is now waaaaaay out of date, but still contains messages and meanings most dire. And the message is all about Neveldine/Taylor’s Nicolas Cage-starring blockbuster of a Marvel film, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. We also discuss other things, like Mass Effect 3, Street Fighter X Tekken, Tales of the Abyss, Knights if the Old Republic, and Doritos tacos. Joining us on this epic take is Daryl Surat from AWO, Niko from CineGeek, and Basil’s buddy Caleb. Oh and I guess I was there, too. OSMnotes BUY BUY BUY BUY. Also, we are back! And we will have another episode… SOONER THAN YOU THINK! Which considering how long it’s been since the last update, we have some leeway there. But sooner!

Ep 124The Jason David Frank Press Conference at MTAC Omega
EJason David Frank at MTAC Omega So we have not updated in forever… Sorry about that! Meanwhile, while you wait for the more traditional OSMcast podcastion (we even have a few episodes recorded already!), here’s something that may interest you. This is the entire press conference that Jason David Frank, power ranger, master of the red white and green, and mixed martial arts extraordinaire, answered questions for us at MTAC Omega. The OSMcast was not alone in asking questions, we were in fact merely one of many. Wondrous other media shindigs that were asking questions alike where groups such as 2ShotsofGeek, One Pixel Jump, HJU Radio, Space Gypsies, CX2 Media, NickiDtv, and more! Probably much more. If we missed anyone please let us know so we can fix that. And extra props goes out the Chainsaw Buffet guys for recording and editing the audio for us! OSMnotes OK! So we have some episodes recorded that are in dire need of editing before they get exposed out into the world wide web. But here is the inteneded order of release. Ghost Rider 2: Best Superhero Movie of 2012 A Podcast Roundtable about Toonami MTAC Omega OSMinterview with Jessica Straus After that who knows what craziness will ensue. Probably podcasts. UNTIL THEN.

Ep 123OSMcast! Mass Effect 3 4-16-2012
EThis is the most desu podcast on the Citadel We did a podcast for the beginning. We did a podcast for middle. It is now time to release our podcast for the end. Of Mass Effect 3, anyway! Basil and Twitterless Kevin is joined up with Hisui from the Reverse Thieves to cover the highs, the lows, and everything in between on defeating the Reapers once and for all. And yes, we even cover the ending. OSMnotes Protip: And despite recording before the DLC was announced, we even called it! Special super duper awesome thanks goes to Hisui for not only chatting with us, but also editing it as well! The man deserves a medal. So hit up their website and check out all their SWAT reviews for all the new anime of the season! Next time we will FINALLY release the long lost episode on a certain Ghost Rider film that was in theaters for like, a week. It will be the most timely thing ever!

Ep 122OSMinterview: Richard Epcar @ MTAC Omega
EThe Man Who Voices It All: Richard Epcar So there we were at MTAC Omega, and I (Basil) looked at Kevin and said, “OK, we GOTTA interview Richard Epcar. This is a thing that must occur.” Kevin responded, “Uh, ok! But I have no clue what to say I mean I don’t really follow US voice actors and-” “Kevin,” I then expertly cut him off, ” Trust me. You’ll understand once we do.” I then proceeded to drop kick like 15 ninjas then got a sweet hair cut. Man my hair so light and fluffy now! But the important part of the story was the Sunday of MTAC Omega. I sadly I had to educate the masses via pane form while Kevin got to interview people. We met up afterwards and I asked, “So how did it go?” “Basil.” Kevin gallantly stated, “We GOTTA interview Richard Epcar again. This is a thing that must occur. That man is amazing.” This is that interview.

Ep 121OSMcast! Redline 2-27-2012
ERedline When you have a podcast dedicated to everything awesome, you gotta put your best foot forward. To the peddle. So far forward you break the peddle, but you keep the foot down anyway because by god that makes you go even faster. Yeah that’s right, we’re talking about Redline by Takeshi Koike and animated by studio MADHOUSE. We also talk about the merits of Blue Exorcist, why you check out some streaming anime sites, and just a hint of Star Driver discourse. All this and more, on the latest greatest most currently updated episode of the OSMcast! OSMnotes BUY THIS NOW. On Blu-ray! On DVD! It doesn’t really matter! Buy two, give one to a friend! Hell, you can even stream it as a rental if you so choose. It really is that good.

Ep 120OSMcast: Much Apodcast About Nuthin’ 2-13-2012
EBEHOLD! The logo Basil was making for the Chainsaw guys that they didn't know about and never finished. AT LONG LAST. THE LONG LOST EPISODE THE WAYWARD PODCAST. IT HAS RETURNED! WITH A CAST OF THOUSANDS. WELL OK. A CAST OF FIVE. THOUSANDS! DIVIDED BY A THOUSAND. SO FIVE. OSMnotes Yes we are back and in 2 weeks we may even have another new episode! Exciting times my friends. ANYWAYS special shout-outs to the OSMfriends that made this episode possible. John, Dylan, Pat, Niko. They are all amazing and wonderful people. And not out to get me like Charlie is. I’m on to you and your double spaces after periods!

Ep 119OSMcast: GMX Volume 3 10-31-2011
EGMX Volume 3, October 21-23. 2011 Happy Halloween! But for the OSMcast, it’s just Monday. Another day, another convention. The last con the OSMcast_!_ decided to cover this year was the Geek Media Expo in glorious Nashville, Tennessee. It’s a cornucopia of all things geek, media, and exponential and so we realized we couldn’t do this sort of thing alone. So we drug in the wonderful Chainsaw Buffet dudes and dames to chat with us about the con. We talk about panels, parties, parking, and the most annoying fangirl around. It’s a fun time! OSMnotes That said, while this the last con the OSMcast_!_ is covering, it’s not the last con the OSMcast_!_ will be at! We’ll be at the HAMACON Holiday Minicon in Huntsville, Alabama on November 12, 2001! Basil is one of the directors of the con, so we can’t very well objectively cover it. That said, you know it will be awesome. Basil guarantees it! (He kinda has to, as he is the Director of Awesome of the con.)

Ep 118OSMcast: Anime Weekend Atlanta 2011 10-17-2011
EAnime Weekend Atlanta, September 28th - 30th, 2012 It’s that time again! The OSMcast continues it’s tradition of being a podcast where we cover conventions lately and occasionally some other stuff by going over the latest and greatest Anime Weekend Atlanta. The panels we ran, the panels we went to. The thrills, the parties, the giant robots, it’s all here! Warning: Our wonder and amazing producer, DJ Inubito, is currently studying for a pretty major certification test, so Basil ended up hacking this episode into shape. Don’t worry though, it will never happen again! For all our sakes. OSMnotes You’ll have noticed that the very same Ninja Consultants podcast we mentioned has already released and you can find it at the very post below this one! Also not mentioned, but totally should have, is the fact we got to meet Guy from DEEP Hurting and Jeff from Colony Drop. They are both awesome dudes and if you haven’t checked out DEEP Hurting or Colony Drop yet, you really should! The latest DEEP Hurting is Guy talking with Dave Merrill and Steve Harrison about Lensman and was probably the greatest audio thing to actually have come out of AWA. Next time on the OSMcast, we finish out our con coverage for the year by talking about GMX in Nashville! Whoo, cons!

Ep 117BONUS: Ninja Consultants Show #99 – Anime Weekend Atlanta 2011 Part 2 with AWO and the OSMcast
EThey can be kinda sneaky. Expertly. So. Funny story. Possibly even a cool story, bro kind of story. It’s really up to you to decide. ANYWAY. While we were recording our AWA podcast tonight, mentioning how we somehow ended up (I blame Daryl) on a future episode of the Ninja Consultants that was also about AWA (in theory), they went ahead and posted it! … Maybe they are ninjas. Also wow they are already at 99! Good job guys! And congrats st AWO for finally breaking 100 “real” episodes! That said, we’re at 85 “official” episodes so far. Which means we are dangerously close to hitting 100 next year. That’s kinda scary…

Ep 116BONUS: Podlabor Episode 8 – We Are Hell
EMazinkaiser SKL The OSMcast is back from another great time at AWA! However, we were SO busy this year we didn’t have time to record anything about it yet. So in the meantime, you should instead listen in on the latest episode of Podlabor! In this episode Basil got to chat with Pat Sutton of Insert-Disc and David Cabrera of Colony Drop, Astro Toy, and Subatomic Brainfreeze to talk about Mazinkaiser SKL. Mazinkaiser SKL is the latest work by Go Nagai’s studio Dynamic Pro and is one of the best things out on DVD today. You should go out and buy it right now! Or just order it online and listen to us blab on about it while you wait.

Ep 115OSMcast: Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below 9-19-2011
EDunno if it wins the award for Longest Anime Title Ever, but it at least deserves an honorable mention. During our wondrous Otakon escapades we got the chance to see a couple of their premiers, and since Otakon was nice enough to have them so we decided to review them. The second premier we wanted to talk about is Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below by Makoto Shinkai. You probably know it better as “That New Makoto Shinkai Movie” as the title is just so gosh darn long! Joining us through the magic of the internet is Gerald from Anime World Order, who also gives us his run down on Anime Festival Orlando 2011. OSMnotes Now, no one knows when this film will reach American shores. We hope it’s soon, as we’d love to see this movie again! But you never know. Knowing how the Japanese anime industry seems to roll, it’s much more likely that they’ll instead take the time to farm out the movie to movie festivals for a couple of years, then release the DVD and Blu-Ray in Japan at inflated prices and refuse to allow it to be sold in America for another year to reduce the chance of reverse importation, which only causes everyone to pirate it then forget about it, sabotaging US sales. Not that this is has ever happened before or anything. AWA Fun Times are a comin’! What kind of OSMcast panels are we throwing out for AWA this year?! Well here they are: Engrish Jambore II – Engrish Haldel: Basil and Drew started this panel at AWA last year, and we are returning once again to deliver tlue rove for all that rove engrish. Anime’s Creepy Uncle – Go Nagai At A Glance: Basil and Kevin gush how awesome Go Nagai is and why you should think he is awesome too. Getting Your Anime Groove Back: Think you might be getting out of anime? Well Basil just might have some shows to get you back in the game, as it were. And is an excuse to show off the first 13 minutes of Redline.

Ep 114OSMcast: Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos 9-5-2011
EThe gang's all... here? Just when you thought we were going to post our review of the new Makoto Shinkai movie first, we double back and release our FMA movie one instead! That’s right, this time the OSMcast tackles the movie Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos, animated by Bones and directed by Kazuya Murata. We’re joined by Daryl Surat of Anime World Order, Otaku USA, Crunchyroll News, and wherever there is justice to be found. We also delve into the nature of the reoccuring shonen film staple, and Trigun: Badlands Rumble. It’s a fun time! OSMnotes When will Funimation out Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos? Chances are, as soon as they can. They know how to strike while the iron is hot, unlike some other studios (Anchor Bay!). However, Trigun: Badlands Rumble is hitting September 27th! You can tell Basil’s opinion of Trigun: Badlands Rumble as he keeps referring to it as Trigun: Badass Rumble. And Basil didn’t even like the original Trigun that much! So it should be a pretty safe buy. If you know, you like awesome stuff. Which we assume you do since well, you’re on our site. We’ll probably have actual times and places for these panels closer to the con itself. Next time, we’ll actually post our review of the latest Makoto Shinkai film Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below, along with AWO‘s Gerald.
