Ep 63OSMcast: inFAMOUS 08-17-2009

E

Boom. This week we decided to change things up a bit and talk about a video game! You kids like video games, right? The game in question is Sucker Punch’s inFAMOUS on PS3. And with all the goofy capitalization that it implies! Not that the OSMcast_!_ knows anything about that… Well, about as much as we know about being punctual lately. OSMnotes You know I was going to be responsible and get some sleep so I can start classes tomorrow on time… But screw that! So, inFAMOUS. You can buy it, in stores! Right now! And now that PS3s are affordable-ish it’s a great game to pick up with that shiny new system. Or if you wait I guess you could get a matte and slightly slimmer system. Either way, it still looks like a George Foreman Grill. This is a totally legit mock up I spent HOURS making! ... Or minutes. But really all I ever dream about now is of Next Gen aka Current Gen But We Call It Next Gen Anyway Wing Commander. I mean just look at that image to the right, and imagine that in HIGH DEF. In fact, you don’t have to! Just click on it and I’ll show you my vision. Of the future. It’s bright. You know what else is bright? Emailing us: [email protected]. Calling us: 209-OSM-LINE/(209) 676-5463 Hitting up our forum: Click the link. Comment down below! So very bright. You’ll need sunglasses. For your computer monitor.

Ep 62OSMcast: Mobile Suit Gundam 00 08-12-2009

E

Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Okay so it’s slightly late but here’s our podcast all about Mobile Suit Gundam 00. It’s got giant robots and stuff! And space elevators. Joining us is Richard from Akihabara Renditions. OSMnotes You can watch the show on the Sci Fi Channel! Or I’m sure DVDs exist. Chances are you know what this show is if you want to see or not and probably already have. Oh well! We have a new voicemail! It’s 209-OSM-LINE. Or for those that like actual numbers, it’s (209) 676-5463. I know we said this last time, but it bears repeating! And it also bears YOU CALLING IT. You can also send us emails at [email protected]. That would also be pretty swell. PS: I just realized that the last two shows we covered are Bandai mecha shows that aired backed back with one-another. Crazy.

Ep 61OSMcrap: “Seven podcasters enter, none leave. Film at Eleven.”

E

Let's News Crappy! Never has the saying “The road to hell is paved with good intentions” as this episode. Four from the crew of the OSMcast combines with three of the members of Akihabara Renditions to deliver a massive recap of the news from past couple of weeks in Anime Land. What actually happens, however, is something else. Hopefully it still ends up entertaining on some level. OSMnotes We have a new voicemail! It’s 209-OSM-LINE. Or for those that like actual numbers, it’s (209) 676-5463. The contest is still going! Post in the comments! Email us! Okay I think that’s it.

Ep 60OSMcast: Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion 07-20-2009

E

This is a mecha show. No, really! We thought we’d do something special for our 50th episode*. But I doubt anyone has ever heard of the Sunrise show we decided to talk about. It’s an extremely unknown show called Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. I mean it’s not like it wasn’t the new cock of the walk or anything as anime goes. But we talked about it anyway! Special Bonus Guest Star Buy Her Book: K. E. Ireland totally showed up for this episode. She has this book thing called Playing The Hero that you can buy and read about the universe it’s set in and more at her website known only as the Natan Fleet Show. Totally NOT the Nathan Fleet Show, nope. Spoiler Warning! Spoilers happen. We tried to keep them away in the first half, but some still slipped out anyway. You have been warned! OSMnotes We may never know what lies underneath his mask... Unless you see him besides during Halloween. *(Actually, we had no clue that this is the 50th episode until a few days after we recorded it.) So there are all sorts of ways you can buy this show! Therefore I’m not going to be posting any links this time! I’m sure you people will know how to find it. And you may have noticed that Anime Expo totally happened more than a week ago. In fact, by now both Otakon and Comic Con has happened! Hopefully we can get to that stuff next week. But for this week we talked about Otakon and we stole many a news story from our buddy Niko. You should also check out his blog, Nikoscream. It is a blog that, unlike mine, is actually updated. On a regular basis. It’s a crazy idea, that. Crazy. Playing the Hero, by K.E.Ireland. Check it out at The Natan Fleet Show. Do it. You should also check out our current contest, now running until the end of August! Just send us an email at [email protected] and tell us what books you think are pretty awesome. We’ll try our best to get a hold of them and check them out. If deemed awesome, nay, OSM enough… We’ll probably get to a podcast about it! However, no Twilight ladies. That stuff gets enough traction as it is. Also no Anita Blake stuff after book 4. The prize for two lucky email senders will be signed copies of Playing the Hero, by K.E.Ireland! You can check out more at The Natan Fleet Show.

Ep 59OSMcast: Soul Eater 07-13-2009

E

Soul Eater This time on the OSMcast! we decided things were getting little too old in the mix, so we thought we’d review something a bit newer. So here’s a podcast all about the anime adaptation of Soul Eater by BONES, from the original work by Atsushi Okubo. OSMnotes Rail kept complaining that the opening wasn’t HARDCORE enough. So hopefully it sufficed. While Funimation has the rights to the Soul Eater anime and will surely be releasing the DVDs at some point, Yen Press has the manga rights and will start releasing the manga in stand alone volumes starting in October. In the meantime the Soul Eater manga is being printing in their monthly Yen Plus magazine. So, we asked in this episode about the use of our forum. Would you like for us to have our own set of forums, or would you just like us to use the forums we actually have? Let us know! There is also contest stuff but Basil is lazy and has work in the morning so you can just scroll down and see what’s up in a previous OSMnotes.

Ep 58OSMcast: My Dear Marie 06-29-2009

E

No seriously, plug her in. You'll like it. We’re back in the groove! We decided to kick things back into second gear with our take on the ADV release of My Dear Marie , the 3-part anime OAV adaptation of the manga by Sakura Takeuchi. Musical Interlude: The Phenomenauts. If you could somehow define the word awesome as a band, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better one. I mean, there are the guys that have founded the genre of ROCKET ROLL. They know nothing but cold steel and laser beams and space ships. And they can rock out with honor. _Science _and honor. OSMnotes You can still find this DVD hanging around, both packaged by itself and also as a bundle with Cosplay Complex. The bundle is oddly enough cheaper. Probably because it was released later. Whether or not it’s worth getting Cosplay Complex in addition to My Dear Marie for cheaper… Sure, I guess! One could say they are phenomenal. I have no clue is Cosplay Complex is good or not, but My Dear Marie is worth it. You can use the other for frisbee golf or perhaps a target for left over firecrackers. You know, if Cosplay Complex sucks. In any case I highly doubt it’s as fun, quirky, or as much fun to watch as My Dear Marie. She’s got spunk! And circuits. You should also make a circuit with our latest contest! It’s our escapade into the wide world of books, and we want your help to get us diving in. We’ll even throw in a brand new novel in the mix, one that’s so new and hip it’s self-published. Playing the Hero, by K.E.Ireland. Check it out at The Natan Fleet Show. Check back with us next week as the talk about something a tad bit more recent, the anime and manga series Soul Eater!

Ep 57OSMcrap “A mediocre podcast for a mediocre movie: Dragonball Evolution”

E

Blah. Well, the original plan was to have this last week and a full lenngth podcast this week, but at least this gets us back on track. And this tracks starts off with Basil and Kevin half-heartily discuss that live action film Dragonball Evolution while all the cool kids talk about the new Transformers movie. Whatever! OSMnotes If you were hoping for something more scathing, you can go read this. You’ll find waaaaaay more hate and vitriol in it than we could ever muster about this movie. In other news hey, new contest! IT’s deisgne dto help us kick off our foray into the exciting thrill-packing world of um… books! Playing the Hero, by K.E.Ireland. Check it out at The Natan Fleet Show. We so crazy. The prize for two lucky email senders wiull be signed copies of Playing the Hero, by K.E.Ireland! Ep 56OSMcrap: “The REALLY real real MTAC Ninja Experience”

E

No other self-respecting podcast would even attempt something THIS real! Man, just when you thought it was safe to listen to podcasts, we had go and post this. It’s our long lost MTAC episode! Okay, so it was never really lost, but I guess it is kind of long! It’s also REALLY keeping it real. How real? Well it’s a collection of interviews we took as ran around like idiots as we talked to any attendee we could talk to. And also possibly some that didn’t really want to, either. So I guess that’s pretty real. Doesn’t get much realer than that, really. Yeah, I have no real idea what I’m talking about either. But I guess I _should _mention that the audio quality is kind of crap, really. Mad Props : Akihabra Renditions! Mark from said Renditions ran around with me as we did this and ended up doing a lot of talking in the end. So check them out when you get the chance. They do some pretty cool stuff. OSMnotes Sadly the poster does not look nearly as awesome as the DVD cover. But the poster could STILL be yours! Boy I kinda sound dumb in that there intro! That’s what I get for doing something alone. But don’t forget THE DRAGONBALL BASIL WANTS TO DUMP OFF THESE STUPID POSTERS CONTEST! Send us an email at [email protected] and tell us what you thought about the new Dragonball Evolution live action film. Perhaps you liked it! Or mayhap you hated it with a passion of a thousand suns. It could even be you are somewhere in between. Hell it can even be about the PSP game. No matter what the opinion is, we want to hear about it. To sweeten the pot, we are giving away two Dragonball Evolution posters. One is for our favorite email, and the second will be an email picked at random. Once you get said poster, do with it whatever you desire. Put it on your ball, or burn it in effigy! We don’t care! Also, talk to us via the OSMline aka 206-202-0071 , and you may obtain the freakiest homemade Sackboy head EVER. No really one day, I’ll post a picture.

Ep 55OSMcast: Fanboys 05-25-2009

E

No really. They're terrible at math. Here on the OSMcast, we thought what better way to celebrate Memorial Day than to remember all those wonderful, brilliant thoughts and dreams that were snuffed out so many years ago when we all thought Episode One was going to be good. That’s right, we are talking about the movie Fanboys. It’s a (totally not true) story about some dudes that were so hyped to see a rough cut of The Phantom Menace that they road tripped to the Skywalker Ranch to steal it. This story ends up being way better than the movie they wanted to steal. Promo: The Greatest Movie EVER!We’ve reviewed two live action movies and not pimped the good Mr. Chapman’s podcast. Well this has now been fixed. He talks a lot about movies. In a podcast format. It’s pretty great. You should probably listen to it. OSMnotes So you may ask yourself, “Where can I find this Fanboys movie? I’m curious to watch it now. lol!” You can most likely find it online for either DVD or even Blu-ray, if you really want to! A glimpse of the chaos that is when you pit Plants against Zombies. But truly, do you want to order something like this online? What you _should _do, is make an event of it! Gather your friends! Take a trip to go get it. In fact, don’t go to your local Wal-mart or Target, head over to the town next over! Have some madcap adventures while you’re at it. Trust me, it will be more fun that way. If nothing else, this movie truly shows one that the trip is worth more than the destination. And this is when I pimp the contest: Send us an email at [email protected] and tell us what you thought about the new Dragonball Evolution live action film. Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon GAAAAH WHY IS THIS GAME'S TITLE SO LOOOONGGG Perhaps you liked it! Just sayin’.

Ep 54OSMcast: Star Trek (2009 Movie) 05-18-2009

E

Star Trekkin' across the universe... It’s taken a few movies this year to get to it, but we finally got it. A _really _good geek film. Perhaps you’ve heard of it? It’s called Star Trek , and it’s the topic of this week’s episode of the OSMcast! Promo: Black Flower Music! We met this wonderful individual at the podcast panel at MTAC this year, as he was the guy running the panel. It turns out his podcast also went to the OSM School of Fine Podcasting, in that his subject matter (like rock and roll) is not held back by gender or nationalities. Or you know, once specific genre of media. Check them out! OSMnotes It’s out in theaters so if somehow you haven’t seen it yet go do so! The podcast will still be here when you get back. But speaking of geek films, we have a contest about something that wasn’t so hot: Send us an email at [email protected] and tell us what you thought about the new Dragonball Evolution live action film. Perhaps you liked it! Or mayhap you hated it with a passion of a thousand suns. It could even be you are somewhere in between. Hell it can even be about the PSP game. No matter what the opnion is, we want to hear about it. To sweeten the pot, we are giving away two Dragonball Evolutionn posters. One is for our faveorite email, and the second will be an email picked at random. Once you get said poster, do with it whatever you desire. Put it on your ball, or burn it in effegy! We don’t care!

Ep 53OSMcast: They Were Eleven 05-11-2009

E

Hell yes it's "engaging!"Oh Animerica, the world is a sadder place without you. Since out last podcast was on stuff that was really new, we decided to check out something that’s a little bit older. So in honor of Cinco de Eleven we talked about They Were Eleven*, an anime adaption of the manga by Moto Hagio. *Hey it was this or Ocean’s Eleven. Which begs the question, if they ever did a sequel using the same premise, would it have been called “They Were Twelve… No Wait, Still Eleven” followed by perhaps “They Could Have Almost Been Thirteen, But Nah! Still Eleven.” And the answer is actually no, it’s “Horizon of the East, Eternity of the West.” Color _me _disappointed. Musical Interlude: Koda Kumi – Taboo (Cynispin Remix)! Perhaps you have hear of Dou(gai)jin Recordings? That group of rag-tag brash musical reimagineers? Well their leader, their Red Ranger if you will, is man known as DJ Cynispin. You can hear the full version of his track, and other awesome tunes in the Dou(gai)jin Recordings 2009 Promo EP. OSMnotes This is Makinami Mari Illustrious. Yeeeep. Like we said in the podcast, now that Central Park Media is gone this DVD is out of print. But you can still find it pretty cheap, if you act on it soon. So here are a few places to buy it. Honestly between the six days ago when we recorded this and today’s release, prices on They Were Eleven and other CPM stuff have already started to go up. And this is a show that every one of you should have in your collection. Did we mention just how awesome Frol is? Frol is one of the most fun characters to watch do their “thing.” And by “thing” I mean “run around being onrey for onrey’s sake.” For a movie like this, good levity is key and Frol is some of the best at it. Keeping our promise, our pact, to you dear listeners you will note that we have to the side the images were talking about of Mari Illustrious Great Gatsby the III. See the wonders of her frog-like nature! Will she actually roll out with some form of awesome motorized wheel chair? Will said wheel chair also have it’s own AT Field? If so, will be represented in it’s eventual inclusion into some Super Robot Wars game? The world may never know. But what we want to know is your opnions! Hence our latest contest: Four wheels of THUNDER! Or something, I dunno. The contest is easy! Simply send us an email at [email protected] and tell us what you thought about the new Dragonball Evolution live action film.

Ep 52OSMcast: The Spring Anime 2009 Preview 05-04-2009

E

Sanada Yukimura and Date Masamune are about to each other's ass in Sengoku BASARA. Hint: It's great. So we heard that a whole bunch of new shows just started airing in Japan last month, so we thought we’d talk about the shows we’ve started keeping up with. Hence, the Spring Anime 2009 Preview. Or as Inubito called it,_ “Desu in Springtime.”_ Promo: Akihabra Renditions! We first met these guys at AWA in 2008 and then again at MTAC this year, and pretty quickly became podcast BFFs. They actually focus more on the classics of anime, or at least older anime. You know, stuff that’s pre-2000. Which is the exact opposite of the topic of this episode! Oddly enough, Basil and Kevin are featured in their latest episode! OSMnotes So we talked about a bunch of anime! Like for example: Asura Cryin’ Basquash! Cross Game Dragon Ball Kai Eden of the East Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Guin Saga K-ON! Natsu No Arashi Pandora Hearts Ristorante Paradiso Sengoku BASARA Shin Mazinger Shougeki! Z-Hen We are positive that you are all enterprising individuals and you can find these shows on your own. Many of them can actually be seen streaming, like FMA! That said, I Basil have now heard that Asura Cryin’ is in fact the worst show out right now? Is it? I have no clue! I’ve made my picks and I’m sticking with them. But if you want to tell us your picks, or what will never be your picks, feel free to let us know! You can send us an email at [email protected], leave us a comment, or call up the OSMline at 206-202-0071. And while you are sending us tons of emails, tell us what you thought of the Dragonball: Evolutions movie! You may just win a poster of said movie, that you can do with whatever you like. (But if you decide to destroy in some spectacular fashion, we want pictures.)

Ep 51OSMcast: Fallout 3 04-27-2009

E

Fallout 3 In this week’s episode of the OSMcast, we’re joined by the Anime World Order‘s Daryl Surat to talk about Fallout 3. It’s Bethesda Game Studios’ take on the classic video games series Fallout by Black Isle Studios. So of course we talk about those too. All in all it’s a very Fallout-y podcast. Except when it’s not. Spoiler Alert: After the podcast Inubito and I did leave to try and see Crank: High Voltage. However, the fools that we were decided to get food first and missed the last showing. So instead we saw Fast & Furious, which was neither fast nor furious. OSMnotes You can pretty much find this game everywhere that you can find remotely new games. Hell, I think some places still have Collector’s Editions floating around at discounted prices. And who _wouldn’t _want a Pip-Boy bobble head and a Fallout 3 lunchbox. I mean really. As far as I can tell, this game is pretty awesome, and you all should totally buy it. Speaking of things you can buy… You know it's good when the cover art in some regions features a guy punching through another guy's head. Rumor has it that Toys ‘R’ Us has the PS2 game God Hand around for $20. This one of the best action games around. In fact some may say it’s even the best action game, EVER. (It also has the best ending credits song, too!) We’ve mentioned the game in the show before, as it’s one of those weird games that’s really good but got some really bad scores. Why? I have no clue, maybe some people just don’t like fun. Oh, and if you too lazy to leave your house, that’s fine! It looks like their website has it, too. We’ve mentioned it before butjust in case: Our glorious DJ Inubito, has teamed up with some fellow DJs and have formed Dou(gai)jin Recordings and have already released their first promo EP. And best of all? You can download it right now. Beyond Nerdcore, BEYOND REMIX. ... NERDMIX. OK, so I need to work on better taglines. In the next thrill-packed episode of the OSMcast, it’s all anime all the time as we tackle several shows that just hit for the Spring 2009 Anime Season. Not exactly full reviews since at most we’ve seen maybe three episodes, but our takes on what the show looks to be about and if it should be on your radar or not. We’ll also be announcing a brand new contest! It’s EXITING. If you’d like to contact us, you can send us an email at [email protected], check out our forum, leave a comment in the comments section, or even give us a call on the OSMline (206-202-0071). And finally we hear at OSM Central wish Daryl all the best of luck on his surgery today. But frankly, we aren’t worried. We're positive that he can take it like a champ.

Ep 50OSMinterview: Sonny Strait @ MTAC Ninja

E

Sonny Strait, being awesome This week we bring you our_ super-short_ interview with voice actor and artist Sonny Strait that we got at MTAC. He’s done many roles, like Krillin from Dragon Ball Z, Maes Hughes from Fullmetal Alchemist, Lupin the 3rd from… Lupin the 3rd, as well as the current voice of Usopp from One Piece. On top of that he’s also done directing work for FUNimation. Oh by the way, he _also _has his own webcomic called Car Bombs, and worked as a penciler for Elfquest for a couple of stories. TL,DR: Sonny Strait is a man of many talents and he gifted us some of his time to throw some questions at him, so here they are for you to enjoy. Protip: This was done on the spot in the Artist Alley at MTAC as the man ignored his lunch to talk to us. But due to the hustle and bustle of the con this may be an episode for the home rather than for the car.

Ep 49OSMinterview: Robert and Emily DeJesus @ MTAC Ninja

E

The DeJesuses... Or is that DeJesusi? Either way I'm pretty sure this image is made by Robert DeJesus. This week we decided to kick it off with our epic-ly long interview with two of the hardest working folks in anime fandom today: Robert and Emily DeJesus of Studio Capsule. They talked about all sorts of things with us, like what it takes to make it out there as an artist and the Best Con Slogan Ever. Did we mention Emily also is the con chair for Ohayocon? Also joining us was (I believe) Richard from Akihabara Renditions. OSMnotes There are a myriad of ways you can find Robert DeJesus on the Internet. There is his main site, Studio Capsule. But if you want to go where the action is, you want his YouTube page. You can also check out his DeviantArt page as well, if are feeling a little… You know… Devious. Whenever I hear our Skippy Promo I think of this. Robert DeJesus is an inspiration to us all. You know, with all of these various Internet sites (and there are actually more if you know where to look), I find it really weird someone had to write a “ What ever happened to Robert DeJesus?” page. Did the idea of using Google just never come up? Of course I’m sure that you can find out about Emily using those same sites, but I’ve heard talk that she runs an mean anime con. Hopefully when 2010 rolls around we’ll get to find out! Special props goes out to MTAC who arranged for the space and Akihabara Renditions for the tools to make this happen. SUPER special props goes out however to our buddy Elvis, whose quick cell phone action ensured that this interview took place, and for introducing us to the DeJesus duo in the first place. And of course, thank you once more to Robert and Emily for spending their time with us. It's good stuff! In other news our sound guy, the illustrious DJ Inubito, has teamed up with some fellow DJs and have formed Dou(gai)jin Recordings. Further more, they have already released their first promo EP. It contains four awesome tracks and you should totally check it out. As always, if you’d like to contact us, you can send us an email at [email protected], check out our forum, leave a comment in the comments section, or even give us a call on the OSMline (206-202-0071).

Ep 48OSMcast: MTAC Ninja 4-6-2009

E

Middle Tennessee Anime Convention It’s the Monday after MTAC Ninja but the OSMcast must go on! Speaking of the Middle Tennessee Anime Convention, here’s a chat we had about the con with Christi Binkley, MTAC’s Director of Media Relations and Advertising. In other words, “Press Wrangler.” We talk a bit about the con and what it takes to make one of these con things happen. Also joining us was the wonderful Marc Smazik of Akihabara Renditions. Protip: Speaking of Akihabara Renditions, we _totally _stole their set up for this. Sadly, we also had no clue how to actually _use _any of it. As a result there is a lot of noise where we held the microphones like retards and the audio reflects this. Our apologizes. This probably isn’t a very good episode to listen to in the car. OSMnotes These made us feel all important and crap. We could post the full picture, but really we have faces perfect for radio. Photo courtesy of Tarrence Grigsby. This is actually merely one of many episodes that we recorded during MTAC. We’ll be doling them as they get edited, so stay tuned for more! It was an incredibly fun convention, and mad props go out to both Christi as well as Niko, the Director of Community Relations of Community Relations, for making it all possible. It was my biggest regret that we couldn’t nail down Niko down long enough to get him on a mic. There’s always next year, though! If any of you fine readers and/or listeners have recently come to the site from MTAC, hello! Please feel free to check out our Index of OSMs Past, or just go on ahead and plug our RSS Feed into the podcatching program of your choice. If you’d like to contact us, you can send us an email at [email protected], check out our forum, leave a comment in the comments section, or even give us a call on the OSMline (206-202-0071).

Ep 47OSMcast: Retro Game Challenge 03-31-2009

E

It's like the Eighties... but BETTER. The OSMcast goes forth once more as Basil, Kevin, and special guest commentator JP grapple the numerous and awesome 8-bit modern games that comprise one of the best DS titles to come out in years: known only as Retro Game Challenge! Protip: So okay I said that it’s the 31st when it _actually _released on the 30th. Whoops. OSMnotes WHY HAVEN’T YOU BOUGHT THIS GAME YET. There are people at XSEED who _could _be bringing us the sequel but instead are DYING because they cannot feed themselves and their families due to the rest of you NOT BUYING THIS GAME. /hyperbole (Here is a link to amazon.com so you can buy this game. Or go to a Best Buy or Gamestop or whatever you have to do!) Legend of the Galactic Heroes Incidentally guys and gals, MadWorld is also mad fun. There is nothing more visceral on the Wii than yanking on the Wii Remote and Nunchuck and watching my enemies be ripped in twain. I literally have not had so much fun on this system since Mario Galaxy. They need to take this engine and gameplay and give me a Fist of the North Star varient. Good stuff. Very fun. Sadly what wasn’t fun was that as I was talking during this recording I could feel my throat dying. Lo and behold this past week it turned for the worse as I’ve had a monsterously bad throat infection. So what do I do when I get sick? I watch seasons of anime! And for this purpose I downloaded obtained two series: Library War and all of the Legend of the Galactic Heroes (Well the main 110 episodes). Of course I haven’t watched ALL of the show yet, but I’ll get through them eventually. It is now only a matter of time. Yeah, it's kinda like that... Speaking of only and matter of time and anime, this weekend is MTAC! I (Basil, aka the guy who writes all these crazy posts and “show notes” ) will be on at least two panels at MTAC. I’ll be a part of the Podcast Roundtable Panel which is being held Friday night at 7:00 PM in the Fan Panel room. Then on Sunday at 1 in Panel Room 2 I’ll be the “token male” in the Shojo Mojo Panel: Feminism in Anime. I could be in some risky waters here! Thankfully, I’m pretty sure they never listened to Weeadicks… (I hope.)

Ep 46OSMcrap: “That Stupid Chun Li Movie”

E

More like Street Fighter: The Legend of CRAP-Li HUR HUR HUR A coworker asked me over this past week: “So what happened to the Survivor Horror in Resident Evil 5?” I told him: “It’s now called sitting through Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.” I know this, because I have sat through this movie. This episode is pretty much just a PSA to the world that no one ever should go see Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.EVER. But you all probably knew that. We went to go make sure, because sometimes you have to stand, even when it’s hard to stand. And now our horrors have been shared and brought to you. Please do not go see this film. Do not rent this film. This isn’t a bad-good. This is just poor. Do not say that we did not warn you. Also, we have a forum now. Please go post in it!

Ep 45OSMcast: Watchmen 03-16-2009

E

I wonder if this is a spoiler? Deep within the underground (and also echo-y) OSMbunker, keeping the awesome alive, we decided to talk _not _about the movie adaption of Watchmen , the amazing graphic novel by writer Alan Moore, artist Dave Gibbons, and colorist John Higgins, but the graphic novel itself. Promo: Dead Workers Party Network! We are actually a part of this network, but we have never really talked about it. They are a collective of a bunch of awesome guys with a ton of various podcasts for your listening enjoyment. WoW, Warhammer, Team Fortress 2, other video games, and even more are topics these podcasts may cover. So check them out, or else. OSMnotes The Watchmen graphic novel is _incredibly _easy to find. Just go walk into a book store or comic book store, they’ll have a copy. Or you could just use Amazon… I guess. This is the good stuff. Cave Story is also easy to find… On the Internet, anyway. Here’s a fansite that has links to download the game and the patch to make it readable via the English Language. And here’s the official WiiWare version’s site, if you are like me and want to play it on a TV easily and give Pixel (the creator) money. You could also play Peggle, which is way too addictive, seriously. I’m now wondering if I shouldn’t have talked about it. Maybe you all should not download and play this game. This is the kind of game that ruins lives. Do you want your life ruined by happiness? I mean, really. Have we mentioned MTAC? MTAC MTAC MTAC. … This is the addictive stuff. ( MTAC.) Nah, we probably haven’t . Okay what we haven’t mentioned before is that the Dead Worker guys have set us up our own forum! There is actually a whole slew of forums covering all sorts of subjects as well. This is nothing really in our forum… yet. You could help change that! But if super easy way of joining the totally awesome forum isn’t your speed, here are some other equally easy-peasy options! SUPER OBAMA! … Really? > - Leave us a comment in this very post! Or another post, if you _really _want. > - Call us at the OSMline (206) 202-0071, and if you ask us a question, we’ll answer it for you in the following OSMcast! > - Or just send us an email at [email protected]! (You can also ask questions here, too.)

Ep 44OSMcast: Full Metal Panic! 03-09-2009

E

Full Metal Panic! We had made plans. Awesome plans. But then those plans were dashed! So we made new ones. BETTER ONES. Then those were dashed and we said NAY SIR and to prove it we did a podcast on the anime adaptation of Shoji Gatoh’s Full Metal Panic! by GONZO. Protip: This may be one of the few times we actually say something good about a show that GONZO has touched. I was amazed too. Promo: Robotronic Dynamite! These gamer guys are pretty great (and also elegant). For example, they have us listed as one of their Super Friends. Secondly, they just nabbed the voice actor for Fei Long to talk about Street Fighter IV with them. Did I mention they were elegant? Also mighty. So please check them out. OSMnotes Pluto is freaking sweet Okay so it turns out this show is more expensive than I thought. I thought it would be closer to $30, but it turns out it’s closer to $50-60. Then again this is 26 episodes we are talking about here, so I guess it’s not such a bad deal. I noticed when I was working up the update today (the 8th), the OSMcast is_ one year old!_ WOW. I was never sure if we’d last a year, yet now I can’t see how I couldn’t. The OSMcast is one of the most fun and rewarding things to do ever, and it’s because of Listeners Like You that we are still around. Star Ocean 4 is very pretty So thank you, and here’s to another year of awesome! And to follow up my thank you, I must now apologize. You see, our CONTEST is over and we have a WINNER. … We just forgot to talk about it. Sorry dear listeners! You will discover the winner next week. However if you’d like to talk to us, we are ALL ABOUT THAT. IN CAPS. You can leave a comment in the comments section. Or send us an email at [email protected]. Oooooor, as always, the OSMline is open to be called up and what not. The number for that is (206) 202-0071.

Ep 43OSMcast: Slayers Revolution 03-02-2009

E

Slayers Revolution In this episode of the OSM cast_!_ we decided to throw down with the latest adventures of Lina and the gang by talking about Slayers Revolution! OSMnotes Right now Slayers Revolution is kind of hard to get to at the moment. When the series started up a small while back, you could find fansubs of it. But with a _quickness _Funimation grabbed up the rights to both it _and _Slayers Evolution-R. Fansubs dried up really quick (because if anyone knows where to look for places to throw some cease and desist orders, it’s Funimation.). Not that this is a bad thing! Especially since they’ve promised us streaming versions of Slayers officially subtitled soon. How soon, I have no clue. I’m sure that we’ll talk about in a future World of OSM when it happens. Baccano! It's pretty darn awesome. Speaking of streaming and Funimation, they also have Baccano! You can actually watched the first episode on their site, although it is dubbed. We talked about Baccano! in Show #10, although it is spoileriffic and me might have missed a fact there or two. If you would rather have a less spoiler-filled podcast, Daryl Surat of the AWO recently covered it. Or you could just buy it. Trust me, this was the best show of 2007 this side of Gurren Lagann. You will not be disappointed. Just to remind everyone who might be going to MTAC, so are we! Infact we’ll be on the podcasting panel, where there will be special secret prizes. What will these be? I don’t know I’m not handling it! But I hear that there will be some. And I’ll be there to run my mouth off in person. I see no reason why this is a bad thing, really. Maybe we can try that whole taking photos thing again, the cosplay kids seemed to like that. MTAC: It's where it's AT, come April 3rd-5th anyway! We mentioned that the nerdcore anime hip hop group The Band of Seven will be there to run MTAC’s dance off. I asked them for a link so that you all could check them out and what do they do? They sent us three. These guys have their stuff together way more than we do, with our measly one URL. To wit: They are planning to release their second album at MTAC, that is said to be produced while on a spaceship. If this is true, I want to know where one can _find _one of these things. I’m in the Rocket City and so far, no dice. Spaceships are the best. How do these guys do it? I know not, but if you do, let us know! Or how this podcast was, a question you’d like answered, or maybe you were trying to conatct someone else but found is instead! So if you would like to contact us, fret not! There are many, many ways one can acconplish this. And by many, I mean three. Way Number One: Leave a comment in this very post! Way Number Two: Email us at [email protected]! Way Number Three: Send us a voice mail at 206-202-0071! It is fact, _that _easy.

Ep 42OSMcast: Street Fighter IV 02-23-2009

E

Street Fighter IV Hey kids! It’s the OSMcast_! _And tonight/today/whenever you are listening to this, we’re talking about Capcom’s latest fighting game, STREET FIGHTER IV! And other stuff, too. Like God Hand, Lost Odyssey, Shiren the Wanderer, Senko no Ronde… and Superman 64. (Sorry about that.) OSMnotes Street Fighter IV is out on Xbox 360 and PS3, and in fact is _so _brand new it hasn’t even been out a week when this podcast gets posted. Therefore you should go out into the world, walk into a store, and go buy it. Because that may just be the last time you see the sun for some time. However finding a decent stick or one of those fancy fightpads… Not so easy. Thumbnails tell you nothing, so I made a larger version clickable. So I suggest that spend your money on Senko no Ronde instead (Please ignore the stupid cover art. Yeah, Ubisoft didn’t have a clue what to do with this thing.). That is, if the idea of Street Fighter in the context of a shoot ‘em up appeals to you. On the other hand, the good man Inubito would suggest that perhaps Slide America – A Nationwide Documentary on Drifting in North America might be something you hip drifting cats would be interested in. It will certainly be a more accurate portrayal of the sport than other movies releasing this year. If you ain't outta control, you ain't IN control! And in a stunning change of events, we got an email! Shock! Awe! Baseless pandering finally paid off! Yes, YOU TOO (!!!) can be mocked by us for the Internet to preserve for all of eternity! All it takes is sending us an email! There are other ways you can contact us, but I’ll leave to you to read on down to the contest copy-pasta or to the lovely information in the side bar. But yes, it is now proven by one of our intrepid listeners : if you send us an email, we _will _answer it. The rules for this contest are very simple! You just have to talk to us! No matter what, we’ll need an email. You can send us one at [email protected]. Also, you could leave us a comment in the comments section below this post. Or call us up on the OSMline at (206) 202-0071. However you do it though, we’ll need an email to contact you. The PRIZE AS WE HAVE NOW ANNOUNCED, is an OSMcast T-shirt! Possibly a one of a kind! Or at least a very few of a kind…

Ep 41OSMcast: Gunsmith Cats 02-16-2009

E

Gunsmith Cats Look out because the OSMcast_!_ is updating on time! For this episode we decided to tackle the manga and anime series by Kenichi Sonoda,_ Gunsmith Cats._ Protip : Ignore the fact that I think the music that we ended up playing was from Riding Bean. We can’t help the fact that we’re hustlers. Promo: Anime World Order! These guys certainly don’t need any of our help finding listeners, but they were the first podcast to play our promos. So we thought we’d return the favor. I have yet to get a bad recommendation from them, even if it’s for all the wrong reasons. Usually however, they’re good ones. OSMnotes Sadly, the Gunsmith Cats DVD is severely out of print and plan on paying $30+ if you want the DVD. However the manga is easily found and at some pretty decent prices too. MTAC Ninja: April 3rd-5th And it looks like we’ll be returning to MTAC this year! It should be quite fun! I’ve heard there might be a podcasting panel or two, so we are going to try to crash get invited to them. Last year was good times and I see no reason why this year should be any different. It’s April 3rd through the 5th, in Nashville at the Sheraton Music City hotel. And don’t forget, the contest still exists! Ep 40OSMcrap: “Weeadicks”

E

Raven is probably going, "You guys are idiots, and coming from me that's saying something." So since schedules did not align to their proper alignments this past week, we decided to show you a different side of the OSMcast. The side that shows that not all recordings are good ones. Some… can be very bad. This is one of those recordings. I apologize now, and promise a real episode next week.

Ep 39OSMcast: Tales of Vesperia 01-26-2009

E

Tales of Vesperia After way too long, we are now able to post our take on Namco Bandai Games’ latest game in the “Tales of” series, Tales of Vesperia! It’s our actual original recording too! We (aka DJ Inubito) were able to salvage it after all. (Which is good because our attempt to rerecord was _not _so good…) Protip: We’re still using the travel mcrophone, so the audio isn’t at it’s best yet. One day Samson will get my orginal mics back to me! OSMnotes Tales of Vesperia is possibly the best Xbox 360 JRPG out there, depending on who you ask. But chances are you’ll like it, if not love. And it’s still crazy-easy to find. So you should go buy it. However Namco Bandai’s Dragonball: Evolution for PSP? Not looking so hot. But hey I guess it’s still better than Street Fighter: The Movie: The Video Game. Both of them. No wait… I think I’d _still _rather play those. Sorry Dragonball! And if you haven’t lamented the fate of Winter, please do so. Giest was an alright game, and the Wii gets precious few enough actually interesting games as of late. Ep 38OSMcast: 2008 OSMawards! (Anime & MORE!) 01-19-2009

E

Yep, still gold-colored! It’s a better late than never podcast as the crew at OSM Central takes a crack at our favorite Japanese animated things for the year 2008! The EPIC CONCLUSION of the 2008 OSMawards! Yay! OSMnotes I’m kinda tapped out of things to say, so we’ll just repeat the contest again and call it a week. Next week’s OSMnotes will be more awesome, I promise! The rules for this contest are very simple! You just have to talk to us! No matter what, we’ll need an email. You can send us one at [email protected]. Also, you could leave us a comment in the comments section below this post. Or call us up on the OSMline at (206) 202-0071. Ep 37OSMcast: 2008 OSMawards! (Video Games) 01-12-2009

E

Because awards have to be gold-colored! What’s an easy way to kill time on the mic when a new year arrives? You talk about the previous year! So here’s our OSMawards! for the video games of 2008. Protip: We had to rasie the gain in order to get this podcast listenable. So it might get static-y at times. OSMnotes So I guess Bob’s Game isn’t. Oh well! We talk about it and then what happens? It’s GONE. It’s enough to make a man weep! … or not! Now he just sounds like (more of an) idiot. NO MATTER. But now we are going to talk CONTEST TIME. The rules for this contest are very simple! You just have to talk to us! No matter what, we’ll need an email. You can send us one at [email protected]. Also, you could leave us a comment in the comments section below this post. Ep 36OSMcast: Ghost in the Shell 01-05-2009

E

Everyone is CAH-RAZY over those zany robots! Because we just weren’t done talking about hot chicks blowing up robots, we decided to continue forth with our opinions on Mamoru Oshii’s movie adaptaion of the Masamune Shirow classic, Ghost in the Shell! Spoiler: We lied! The movie is _actually _about basset hounds. OSMnotes One of the pluses on reviewing a hallmark of Japanese animation, especially as one so uh, _digital _as Ghost in the Shell, is that you can find the DVD for it pretty cheap. I mean, like $12.04 and $12.14 with free shipping cheap. Or if you have a really banging 6.1, 7.1, or Whatever is the Lastest Greater than 5.1 Surround Sound System then I suppose you could pony up the extra 10-20 bucks to grab the special edition that’s floating around. Of course, chances are that if you an afford such a sound system, you can afford the extra money for the DVD. Apperently "tensai" means "genius." ... Yeah. Ol’ Robert Pelloni (aka Bob) is still hard at work living locked up in his room as protest to Nintendo for not getting to him the tools he needs to move his project (the eventually DS game “Bob’s Game”) into the realm of retailability. Good luck Bob! After I’ve started playing Chrono Trigger on the DS, I’ve realized I need more RPGs that look and play like they should on the SNES in my life. And yours looks like an SNES-era Enix knockoff, so I have hope! Robotrek is awesome and Bob should be inspiried to even greater... greatness by these pixels. I know I am. I’m serious here, unheard of Enix games like Soul Blazer and Robotrek are the best. Okay, so most all the Quintet-developed games pre-Grandstream Saga are_ the best_, but still! I loved those games and your (Bob’s) game reminds me off them. I only worry that much like many other projects that started with much fanfare and the devleoper shooting his mouth off on how the great his game is only for the games to crash and burn, yours will not stand the test of time. I hope you can prove my worries are for naught! As long as, you know… Nintendo calls you back and stuff.

Ep 35OSMcast: Bubblegum Crisis 12-29-2008

E

Bubblegum Crisis Tonight we dethrone the AWO’s “Last podcast to podcast about Bubblegum Crisis” crown with our our podcast about Bubblegum Crisis! … Mostly. Okay _sometimes _we talked about Mega Man 9. But it’s usually about Bubblegum Crisis, really! OSMnotes Looking at the various places one can buy the boxed set of Bubblegum Crisis, I discovered that the best place was actually AnimEigo themselves. And if you like anime form the 1980s and/or hot chicks blowing up robots and/or cool mecha designs and/or awesome synth and rock music, you now have the links. Get on it. 8-Bit Jesus: Classic Christmas Songs ala chiptunes And as we said, we all here at OSM Central hope you all out there had an awesome Christmas and a future Happy New Year! Like we said you still need some holiday music, 8-Bit Jesus is still there, just waiting for you. To you know… Download it. Of course, what _better _way to give the gift of commenting than to give us some comments! We have that whole comments section just for that, too! Or send us an email at [email protected]. Ep 34OSMcast: Macross Frontier 12-22-2008

E

Macross Frontier It’s all about high flying, mecha, idol sings, and guns, lots of guns in this episode of the OSM cast_!_ Of course, the topic is the latest Shōji Kawamori epic, Macross Frontier. OSMnotes Okay I think we are back on track and ready to rock. Inubito’s actual main computer should be arriving this week, which means he won’t have to try and hack at editing this podcast on his laptop. This is good news for the world. (What’s not good news for the world is that as I’ve been editing the post for this podcast my power has gone out twice. So let’s rush though this and gte this suck up before it’s too late.) Macross Frontier is, like we said, in no way licensed for the US and may never be. So our only recourse is the wide wonderful world of torrents and downloading. I’m pretty sure that the right Google search can point in you the right direction. This is how Singapore sees Bubblegum Crisis. In very small preview images. Next week we plan on talking about Bubblegun Crisis, that classic 80’s anime about hot chicks in powered armor blowing up robots. It really doesn’t get more awesome than that. Of course, I now realize that I think that Daryl Surat of AWO is also revivewing BBC in their next episode… So let’s see who updates with thier BBC podcast first! It’ll be exciting! … Or possibly not. As always we are starved for attention so please give us some by either posting in the comments below, sending us an email at [email protected], or giving us a call on the OSMline at (206) 202-0071.

Ep 33OSMcast: Adolescence of Utena 12-01-2008

E

Adolescence of Utena The OSMcast rises from it’s grave of computer woe’d-ashes to deliver unto you our take on one of the most awesome, trippy, postmodernist, animated movies ever : Adolescence of Utena AKA The Utena Movie. Protip: And while I know that this is _technically _the 15th of December, this was recorded with the intent of getting up on the 1st, so it’s still dated for that time. OSMnotes There are still a few options for you to go buy this movie, and you most definitely should. Sadly, while we have been able to finagle an actual podcast for your listening enjoyment, Inubito’s computer is still down for the count. On the plus side, Lee no longer has mono! But yes, we are back in business so there shouldn’t be any interruptions again for the near or distant future. We hope. So in the meantime we give you a glimpse into a world where bulletproof tigers run rampant and polar bears need not fear the arctic wastes: The consequences of this action could be... deadly!

Ep 32OSMcast: Nekocon 11 11-24-2008

E

This is the con we are talking about! Over two weeks past due, we bring you our Nekocon 11 con report! Short version: Totally fun. Long version: Listen to our podcast! /Basara (We also complain about Gonzo and how much Rosario + Vampire sucks.) Protip: We had to use the travel mic and it so happened the room we were in was really echo-y. You have been warned. OSMnotes So yeah, we had fun! We totally want to go again next year if we can! If you live in the area and somehow have not gone, make plans for next year. For real. You have now seen the entire show in this one screen cap.Congratulations! But we all now know that Nekocon is awesome. Now I’d like to point something we forgot to mention in in the World of OSM. You see that screen cap on the left there? See the next one below that? The place I stole the screens from is a site complaining on now two of the three main networks that air the recent season of this crap are censoring the fanservice. This is the travesty that others have now bemoaned and wailed and the gnashing of teeth and crap. Bats are not fanboys' best friends! Apparently the one factor that people are drawn to the show (more panty shots per capita than a season run of Ramna episodes starring Happosai) has gotten _so _outrageous the networks that agreed to let this show get advertising money that they are throwing cute bats everywhere to cover up the said 50+ panty shots per episode. Go figure. Legend of Galactic Heroes 2 or Irresponsible Captain Kamina? Only the Future knows! Now, I will make no judgments upon the person for instead of using the phrase “panty shot” instead they use the phrase, “pantsu.” Whatever. The point is that even they are confused as to why the networks are even bothering. And to that sentiment I agree with them. However I have a different solution for you Osaka TV and Aichi TV. It’s really easy: Stop showing the show and show Nodame or Tytania or something I dunno… Good. Sure, it’s a wild idea that has no place in things like contacts or anything resembling logic and how these things actually work. I’d just rather see good shows being shown more than bad shows. Well that was an unexpected rant! As always, you can contact us in an innumerable amount of ways. Commenting in our Comments Section always works. Email ([email protected]) also works! Voice mails (206-202-0071) do too! … Okay so there’s three ways! But they are all excellent ways of doing it. Ergo, so you should be doing it

Ep 31OSMinterview: Troy Baker, Aaron Dismuke, & Jerry Jewell @ Nekocon 11

E

Troy Baker, Aaron Dismuke, and Jerry Jewell In a strange twist of fate, our shortest episode actually has the longest title. Go figure! At this recently past Nekocon we got the chance to chat with three awesome voice actors: Troy Baker, Aaron Dismuke, & Jerry Jewell. Protip: Since it was the portable microphone, you’ll need to turn up the volume to hear us. But there’s not a whole lot of background noise so it’s all good. OSMnotes: Thanks to the awesome staff at Nekokon for making this happen, as well as our guests for sitting down with us to talk, even though it was only a little while.

Ep 30OSMcast: Azumanga Daioh 11-10-2008

E

Azumanga Daioh In tonight’s episode of the OSM cast_!_ we talk about J.C. Staff’s adaptaion of Kiyohiko Azuma’s awesome series: Azumanga Daioh! With special guest star DJ Inubito as “The guy playing Fable II while we talking about stuff.” OSMnotes Thanks to ADV’s awesome habit of making collections of stuff they make, you can not only now own the entire anime in a Thinkpack box set, you can also buy the entire manga run in one giant omnibus edition. This is coming out soonish! Normally we have this stuff uploaded by Sunday night so it’ll be ready for your listening enjoyment bright and early Monday morning. But we just got back from Nekocon _late _last night and could not stay conscious enough to make it happen. Hopefully Monday evening will be just as nice! And if you _must _have it in the morning, I hear Tuesday is also a good day for it! Speaking of Nekocon, it was a blast. This comes out soonish after! I’m sure we’ll be doing a con report on it at some point in the near future! Possibly even next week. If you have any questions about the con, or about Azumanga Daioh, or you know, anything… Just leave us some feedback in one of our many myriad ways. Like for exmaple, the comments section! Ep 29OSMcast: The World Ends With You 11-03-2008

E

The World Ends With You Expand your horizons, your world, as it were, with our latest podcast all about Square-Enix/Jupiter’s awesome game for the Nintendo DS: The World Ends With You! And also where we try not to talk about the World of Warcarft! … Too much. OSMnotes This game is in steady supply, but sadly no matter where we checked, the “Square-Enix tax” is in full effect and you are looking to be spending $40 for this game. It’s totally worth it though! We just got back from CrisisCon, and it was pretty fun! Definitely an enjoyable con, and we’ll be sure to come back next year. I’m sure we’ll talk more about it on our next podcast, but by then Inubito and Basil will have already been to Nekocon! Such is the way our recording and update shcedule works… There's a joke in this, I just know it... Street Fighter IV is looking like it’s shaping up to be pretty awesome. They’re even having a contest where if you art is rad enough, it’ll be on the inner cover of the game! But right now all we care about is the awesome magazine ads we were talking about. Until then, we’ll just play more Third Strike and I’ll weep that Makoto isn’t in SFIV yet. Oddly enough the most repeated question at the Crisis Con panel was “Do you get enough feedback?” And the answer is a resounding “NO, WE DO NOT AND IT MAKES OUR SOULS UNHAPPY. D:” So, if you would please be so kind as to comment down below, shot us email, or even voice mail, you’ll be our favorites. Unlike those _other _listeners… Oh and for the record the Burning Crusade expansion of World of Warcraft came out January 16, 2007… so almost two years between expansions… almost. Just _sayin’. _

Ep 28OSMcast: Hellsing Ultimate (1 thru 3) 10-27-2008

E

The Bird of Hermes is my name, eating my wings to make me blah blah blah To conclude our October extravaganza of Octoberness, we’re finishing out with another set of three with a podcast all about the latest take on Kouta Hirano’s epic tale of vampires, Nazis, and blood, lots of blood. So yeah, Hellsing Ultimate. OSMnotes As it turns out this time Buy.com has the best deal on Hellsing Ultimate, with all the discs running you around $16.63 a disc. Hellsing Ultimate Vol 1 Hellsing Ultimate Vol 2 Hellsing Ultimate Vol 3 Hellsing Ultimate Vol 4 Astroboy so did love the world so much that he... er... saved it. With machine gun butt attacks. We only covered Hellsing Ultimate Volumes 1 thru 3, but you should go on ahead and buy all four. the fourth volume actually has our favorite villain yet, Rip van Winkle! Protip: If the image to your left does not melt your heart, then there is no hope for you, as your heart is now cold, bitter stone. And you should feel bad. I mean just look at him. And don’t forget to check out Chris Kohler’s write-up on “The Famous Takahashi.” It’s a really interesting look at a marketing guy you can’t help but to love. That’s really, really hard to do. The Man, the Myth, the Pictures courtesy of Chris Kohler/Wired.com Though I guess it helps when you can mash on a video game controller sixteen times in one second. Also, we know when our podcasting panel will be at CrisisCon! It’s on Sunday November 2nd, from 11:30-12:30 in the Main Events room. It’s called Podcasting 101. We will be joined by our fellow Huntsvegas-ian podcasters Dead Workers Party Network! I suppose we will be talking ahout the basics of getting into podcasting and whatnot, which should be enjoyable. If nothing us you’ll get to listen to us ramble on for an hour of your day. Only this time it’s live and in person! I believe the DWPN guys are playing to pull off either a stream or a live recording of the panel, so I’d imagine we’ll be linking to that when we can. And then we’ll be heading up north for Nekocon the weekend after! Not that we have any panels or anything planned, but we’ll be there all the same. As always, please fell free to comment in the comments section, or send us an email at [email protected]! Or even call us up on the OSMline! The number is 206-202-0071. We’ll see you next week!

Ep 27OSMcast: The Evil Dead Movies 10-20-2008

E

Shop smart... shop S-Mart! Kicking reason to the curb once more we take on a terribly terrific trilogy of movie-ocity with Sam Raimi’s and Bruce Campbell’s epic cults classics, The Evil Dead, The Evil Dead II, and Army of Darkness. Oh, _and _the musical. You can blame Eric for that one though! OSMnotes Right now Best Buy has all three movies on sale for $6.99 a pop! The Evil Dead The Evil Dead II Army of Darkness So you shouldn’t keep yourself away from these films any longer. Unless you’re scared. Of awesome. Best Buy also has the musical for $14.99, but you can also get it at the same price from Amazon. You know you want one. Speaking of good ol’ Amazon.com, you could also pre-order the KORG DS-10 Synthesizer! If you ever wanted to make beats on the go, I don’t think you can go very wrong here guys. I mean if it’s good enough for Yasunori Mitsuda, it’s good enough for all of us. I wish I could also tell you all the reserve the Ghostbusters game but who knows when the game will even be out. Though man, Bill Murray is looking kinda old. But that still doesn’t stop him from asking the _relevant _questions. Though sadly he may have received his relevant answer… Who you gonna call? Also, don’t forget that in a few weeks (Halloween weekend in fact) we’ll be at CrisisCon in Huntsville, Alabama! When the panel will be… I’m not sure. Hopefully they’ll get back to us soon enough so we can post about it and talk about in our next episode. Also we’ll be kicking back the very next weekend (November 7th – 9th) at Nekocon, in glorious Hampton, Virginia! We don’t have any panels or anything planned there, but we’ll be sure to crash something. And as always, you are more than welcome to let us know you, dear listeners, exist! I uh, guess that works! There are many ways you can let us know this! You could… Leave us a comment in this very post! Call us at the OSMline (206) 202-0071, and if you ask us a question, we’ll answer it for you in the following OSMcast! Or just send us an email at [email protected]! It really is _that _easy!

Ep 26OSMcast: Silent Hill (1 thru 4) 10-13-2008

E

Silent Hill 2 To further our Halloween tendencies, we decided to rock out with a crazy-long podcast all about Konami’s uber-creepy video games series Silent Hill. Lee takes us on a course of wonder and horror as he details the first four games, while we chime in like the silly fools we are! This is also the podcast that Refused to Upload, but that’s a story for another time. OSMnotes October 31st - November 2nd Okay so we lied last time. Well not a lie really, we just temporarily forgot one. You know how we said we had one more con to hit this year? Well, we are actually going to two! November 7th - 9th Not only shall we be attending CrisisCon Halloween weekend in Huntsville, Alabama… But we’ll also be going out to Hampton, Virginia for Nekocon the week after! Which means a 13 hour+ drive for us. But that means a whole new world of people that will get to exprenice the power, majesty, glory that is us, the OSM cast! … Right?

Ep 25OSMinterview: Gina Biggs @ AWA 14

E

Gina Biggs © Gina Biggs Here’s our first ever OSMinterview with one of the most awesome women in webcomics, Gina Biggs! She’s the creator of the romantic drama Red String (now being published by Dark Horse Comics) as well as the Grand High Poobah of Strawberry Comics. Protip: We ended up recording right outside the dealer’s room, so the audio quality isn’t that great. You’ll probably have to turn up the volume a good bit so I wouldn’t recommend listening to in the car or anything. OSMnotes Once again thank you Gina for taking the time to talk to us! And if you still have no idea who Dr. Horrible and Cpatain Hammer is, please go educate yourself . You’ll be glad you did.

Ep 23OSMcast: Kimagure Orange Road 9-29-2008

E

In our first true post-AWA podcast Basil and Lee weigh in on the 1980’s anime classic, Kimagure Orange Road (KOR)! OSMnotes: Fun Fact #1: Basil’s first ever anime soundtrack on CD was bought during AWA 5. It was a KOR soundtrack and costed him around $30 for a second-hand copy. Later on he ended up buying another several soundtracks from another dealer but it only costed him like $12 a disc. He was amazed at his good fortune and wondered why the Kimagure Orange Road one costed him so much. Basil soon discovered out after the con that all the cheap ones were in fact bootlegs and his KOR one was actually legit. D’oh! Fan Fact #2: The director for the TV series of KOR, Osamu Kobayashi, also directed another romance drama show called Paradise Kiss as well as the rockin’ show BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad. Even more recently however he guest-directed the fourth episode of Gurren Lagann. By the way this is also the worst episode of the show and caused such an uproar on 2chan that one of the founders of Gainax made fun of the forum-goers, then stepped down from the studio days later. D’oh x2! In other news something amazing has occured! Street Figher IV is one of the few video games ever to sport the most awesome cover art for the US region as opposed to Japan or Europe! This like, NEVER HAPPENS. But I guess someone in Capcom decided to throw us a bone. So props to that! Also we do have our new OSMline number! It’s 206-202-0071! You should totally call it! Or email us! Comment! DO IT. … And ignore that we accidently used the old number at the very end there. Use the new number we said previoulsy instead!

Ep 22OSMcast: AWA 14 9-22-2008

E

It’s only the first day back from the Anime Weekend Atlanta 14 and we’ve already got our podcast up and running about it! Listen to us talk about standing in line for things and panels we attended! And eating Stir-fry! The alternate title for this episode is “Should Have Spanked Me With an Asteroid.” OSMnotes I... Don't even know. But no, really, AWA was a ton of fun. We got to meet the folks behind AWO (Daryl, Gerald, and Clarissa), Greatest Movie Ever (Paul Chapman), and fellow new kids on the block podcast Akihabra Renditions (Drew Sutton). Not only that, but they actually let some of us (Basil and DJ Inubito) on the podcasting roundtable panel. THOSE FOOLS! But no really it was great and hopefully we didn’t sound too stupid. I also (along with Lee) had the chance to interview Gina Biggs of the webcomic Red String (and the Strawberry Comics collective) for a little bit on Sunday, which will get it’s own segment later on in the week. And Inubito also took some photos at the con, and once I edit them I’ll post’em up on the site. Sadly while we knew there was some awesome FF12 cosplayers there that we had met at MTAC earlier this year, we somehow missed our chance and nabbing their photos. Sorry about that awesome FF12 cosplayers. And if you are just tuning into us from AWA, welcome! Check out our Index of OSMs Past for previous episodes! Leave us comments! Send us emails! I’d say call us, but I think the OSMline is borked, and we may have to look into a new one. But again, welcome new folks, hello again to our current listeners, thank you to podcasts that are greater than us, and until next time, stay frosty. And also stay tunned later on for our first ever OSMinterview!

Ep 21OSMcast: XBLA Trifecta! 9-15-2008

E

Because one game just wasn’t enough, we decided to tackle three Xbox Live Arcade games for this episode of the OSM ast_!_: Castle Crashers, Bionic Commando, and Braid. Check it out! OSMnotes That’s right, we’ll be at Anime Weekend Atlanta this weekend, so you should track us down and say hello! Also, if you happened to head this direction by way of the AWO, hello and welcome! Hope you enjoy your stay. And I apologize about Indy IV. Really, I do. However I will defend the honor of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates to the uh, death. I guess. See you folks at the con! Or not! ( Then throw us an email!)

Ep 20OSMcast: Gurren Lagann 9-8-2008

E

Finally our current tagline will now make sense as the OSM cast_!_ tackles Gainax’s Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann! OSMnotes Image of the hottie whiskey bottle © Go Nagai/Dynamic Planning, Honey Production Committee Now this podcast really isn’t a day late or anything. I mean, it’s not like _a bird hit a plane _causing Inubito’s friend’s flight to be delayed so he was busy entertaining his guest to mix down the podcast until late Monday night. And it _surely _wasn’t Basil being too busy playing Spore to actually update the site once he had the file. I mean… obviously. By the by, hasn’t anyone noticed how the theme of Spore is kinda how creatures must use the power of evolution to grow, expand, and survive as well as you (not I of course) the player also evolve by varying games of complexity? And how it expresses it’s theme by the use of a galaxy as imagery. And how galaxies kinda like like spirals? You know, like Gurren Lagann? Not that I’ve been playing Spore or anything, and that my race of creatures are called the Gurrens. Nope. Not at all!

Ep 19OSMcast: Cromartie High School 9-01-2008

E

WARNING: We talk about Eiji Nonaka’s Cromartie High School in this episode of the OSMcast_!_ There… YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! OSMnotes We talk about a lot of stuff that’s actually kinda out of date! But that’s OK, because it’s all still awesome. And so is Cromartie and you should buy a version of it right now. Also: Best. Trailer. Ever. Check back with us next week when we take on Gainax’s Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann!

Ep 18OSMcast: Wild Zero 8-25-2008

E

We aren’t dead yet! In this triumphant return to the OSMcast Basil, Eric, and newcomer Lee tackle Tetsuro Takeuchi and Guitar Wolf’s wild and crazy “Jet rock ‘n’ roll”/zombie horror/comedy/cult classic/movie thing, Wild Zero! And succeed with marginal success! WARNING: Guitar Wolf’s music can be _really loud. _ OSMnotes We actually recorded this a week or two ago, so the Wold of OSM news is kinda old, but it’s all still vitally important, at least as far you should go buy Bangai-O Spirits RIGHT NOW. What’s actually important is that we’re back and we’ll be now updating on Mondays , not Fridays. And we should have it set for next Monday as well, where Lee and I talk about Cromartie High School. Be prepared!

Ep 17OSMcast: The Dark Knight 8-01-2008

E

We’re rollin’ into the month of August with Christopher Nolan’s latest take on the Batman, The Dark Knight. And more! OSMnotes First off, you can now see Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog once more without buying it off iTunes! You just have to deal the occasional commercial. You know, like _regular _TV. And you should go buy some Freakazoid RIGHT NOW. Really this is the best week for super heroes and super villains ever.

Ep 16OSMcast: Mushishi 7-25-2008

E

Mushishi, by Yuki Urushibara is the topic of tonight’s OSMcast_!_ And it’s definitely awesome. But don’t take our word for it! … Well, actually _do _take our word for it, but listen to us talk abut why first! OSMnotes Really you should go buy a copy of Mushishi in one form or another right now. Though you’ll probably have to special order it. But that’s okay because this manga and anime _is _pretty special. In that good way, not that short bus special or anything. So go git it. Like, now. Go!

Ep 15OSMcast: Catchin’ up on the World of OSM 7-18-2008

E

Okay so for the past two weeks we’ve skipped out on the World of OSM… And it kind of built to a great big pile of stuff that needed to be caught up to. So here it is! OSMnotes So we talked about this stuff (more or less): Chrono Trigger DS! Slayers Revolution! Rock Band 2 DCvsMK fatality correction FF13 on Xbox 360!! OMG SQEENIX YOU COMMIT SUDOKU!!!11! Xbox Live + Netflix = Win! (However it was later clarified that everyone has to have a Netflix account to watch the movies. Still awesome though!) Mii Avatars! And other Xbox 360 stuff. Microsoft made a pretty good press conference. However… Nobody is interested in Animal Crossing: City Folk. And by that I mean the person we know as Nobody. Wii Sports Resort is pretty cool we guess. Wii Music makes my soul sad. So much. My heart: broken. So sad. Sony’s conference was pretty meh for us as well. But uh… 256!!! I guess. That game was called MAG (Massive Action Game). But we really don’t care. Really Penny Arcade got it right. Song Summoner for iPod Anime Expo! Maybe they did well attendee-wise? Who knows! Persona 4! In the US! December 9th! This year! YAY! Hayate the Combat Bulter via Bandai Entertainment The Girl Who Leapt through Time manga based on the film, actually via Bandai and not CMX like I said! (CMX released a different adaptation of The Girl Who Leapt through Time.) Funimation now RULES THE WORLD! Ouran High School Host Club and 30 titles that was once held by ADV. Kodansha is setting up a U.S. subsidiary to publish their own manga starting in September. Good, bad, or awesome? Guess we’ll find out! Yeah, it was a lot of stuff.

Ep 14OSMcast: Metal Gear Solid 4 7-11-2008

E

And we’re back! This week DJ Inubito and Basil talk about Nerdapalooza 2008 and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. OSMnotes So it sounds like Nerdapalooza 2008 was pretty bad ass! If you want to check out CSHC with our man DJ Inubito on the plates, check out their YouTube page. And like we said, MGS4 is gosh darn awesome. And you do end up feeling pretty bad for Old Snake sometimes, when they make fun of him for being old and his Psych meter goes down in the saddest noise possible.
