Ep 113OSMcast: Otakon 2011 8-22-2011

E

Continuing our Otakon podcast extravaganza, on the OSMcast proper we are joined by Hisui of Reserve Thieves fame as we talk about Otakon on a Saturday. The sights, the sounds, the movie premiers. The on-air crushing of a hearts as news of Satoshi Kon’s last work remains in limbo. We even get to talk to a few con goers to see how con was shaping up for them, at the con itself. All these and more await you in this episode of drama and pathos and being recorded waaaaay too late at night! Otakon: July 29 - July 31, 2011 Baltimore, Maryland OSMnotes Just a glimpse from the Art of Akira exhibit In case you have forgotten or somehow missed it (How you could have we have no clue, UNLESS YOU ARE IGNORING US. You jerks.), you can check out our guest appearance on The Speakeasy talking about Friday at Otakon here. You may have noticed we also got to talk to the guy that has brought the Art of Akira to the world. Let me tell you folks, seeing that stuff up close and hands on was quite amazing. Honestly, while Basil did take some shots of the Otakon exhibit on his phone, the stuff on the website is 10x more amazing and you should look at all of them. You can check out his website here, but if you can make it out to DragonCon and AWA this year please so check out the actual exhibit. You’ll be glad you did. On the next OSMcast, we’ll be talking about one of the premiers we were able to partake of at Otakon. We’ll be reviewing Makoto Shinkai’s Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below along with Gerald from the AWO. It’ll be fun!

Ep 111OSMinterview: Chris Cason @ HAMACON 2

E

It's like Chris Cason is going, "Here. have a podcast. On me." Back in the ye olden days of June 2011, we got to talk to one Chris Cason at HAMACON 2. Who is this mysterious Chris Cason, you ask? Why he’s a voice actor and ADR Director for Funimation Entertainment. He’s done several roles for Funimation, such as Gluttony in Full Metal Alchemist, Mr. Popo in Dragon Ball Kai, and Holy Roman Empire in Hetalia: Axis Powers, among others. He’s also done ADR work on such series as School Rumble, Birdy the Mighty: Decode, and YuYu Hakusho. It’s good times. But don’t take our word for it! Have a listen. OSMnotes Hope you all enjoy the interview, and once again thanks to Chris Cason for talking to us. But that’s not all! Next Monday we’ll be linking to the Reverse Thieves‘ Crime Scene Investigations podcast segment all about the Friday at Otakon, as sort of the precursor to when we’ll be talking about Otakon on Saturday night on the OSMcast proper with guest podcast buddy and No. 1 Saber fan, Hisui. But wait you say? You want to hear that NOW?! Well you can! For you see, the Reverse Thieves have already posted it! We’ll just be re-posting on Monday as a crazy double dip scheme.

Ep 110OSMcast: House of Five Leaves 7-25-2011

E

Because a house certainly cannot have four, or six leaves. That just wouldn't do. What’s this?! A podcast releasing on schedule?! Why yes… yes it is! The OSMcast_!_ once again returns faithfully to your audio-listening side as we discuss Natsume Ono’s House of Five Leaves, with the manga being released by Viz Media and the anime being streamed online by FUNimation. Joining us for this not so action packed episode is the voice actor extraordinaire that is Micah Solusod, and Charlie from PodcastSuperFriends™ the Chainsaw Buffet podcast. It’s 41+ minutes of podcast fun! OSMnotes House of Five Leaves is a thing that should be read! Or watched! So we expect that you all will be getting to that immediately. If you are already a smart, lovely, and amazing person that already knew about the wonders of House of Five Leaves, then would you like to try an awesome visual novel-styled game that isn’t porn? Perhaps a murder mystery? Might we suggest you take a look over at sakevisual? While you folks are working on that, we’ll be heading out to super hot and also steamy Baltimore, Maryland this weekend for an exciting adventure at Otakon. It will be exciting! And adventrous! And at some point I’m sure we’ll be telling you all about it. In podcast form.

Ep 109OSMcast: MTAC Goes To 11! 5-2-2011

E

It's a con that knows how to rock out with it's uh, anime out! THE OSMCAST IS BACK! And we have brought back with us the motherload of Middle Tennessee Anime Convention con report in audio form goodness. You can even tell it was even recorded at the con4! (Some parts, more than others. Also we originally planned on releasing this much, much earlier.) Since MTAC decided this year to Go to 11, so did we. We start off being all self absorbed and talked about our panels with the wonderful gentlemen of Akihabra Renditions (and SeishunCon). Then we drug in the guys from Tennesse’s own Chainsaw Buffet podcast to talk about the convention istelf. Finally, we get to have a chat with Nicholas Qualls (Senior Director of Public Relations), Christi Binkley (Director of Media Relation), and the big man himself Lucas Leverett (Convention Chairman, Senior Director of Venue & VIP Affairs). And in-between all these bits are on the spot and off the cuff interviews we had with the con goers themselves. FUN FACT: We would have called this the MTAC Omegacast, but their name for next year is MTAC Omega! So I guess we’ll have to wait until next year as well. Darn! Also, this is probably now officially our longest podcast ever. OSMnotes Sorry that we have been away so long! But rest assured, we are back and ready for action! And by action, we mean Otakon. It’s going to be _exciting! _ If you would like to read even more words about things like anime and what not, Basil even updated his blog somewhat recently-ish.

Ep 108BONUS: The Speakeasy #018: Ghostbuster, A Kekkaishi Introduction

E

This is the stuff! It’s BONUSPALOOZA! This time, Basil goes to digitally chill with the intrepid, dashing, and always classy Reverse Thieves on their Speakeasy podcast as we talk about Kekkaishi. You know, the greatest and most awesome shonen series you people still aren’t paying attention to! See, we know this, because we talked about this show on the OSMcast waaaaaay back in show #11. That was back in June of 2008 (holy crap we’ve been doing the OSMcast longer than I thought!), before the anime was licensed and only the manga was coming out under people’s noses. Three years later, it’s been on Hulu, Cartoon Network, and soon to DVD. NOW IS THE BEST TIME TO HOP ON THE KEKKAISHI TRAIN GUYS. JUST SAYIN’. The Reverse Thieves: Fightin' crime and bloggin' about anime and manga. OSMnotes JUST SAYIN’. I meant to get this bonus up sooner, but work intervened. And Infamous 2. And the new Zelda 3DS game. And three volumes of Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service. And a volume of 20th Century Boys. … Maybe I was lazy. (Nah!)

Ep 107BONUS: OPJ Podcasts! E3 2011: “This is the Second Coming of Hats!”

E

For those keeping track from the previous BONUS, the PSN won. :( The MTAC podcast is on it’s way, but in the meantime here’s a podcast where Basil joins the fine fellows of One Pixel Jump and talk about this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, aka E3. Listen on as they discuss the conferences, the Cheetos, the Reggies, the Vitas, the Kinects, the dramas, the _pathos _of video games. And by pathos I mean ModNation Racers, and also Dragon Quest. Because that’s what you get when you let me (and by me I mean Basil) talk about video games. OK look. ModNation Racers is awesome, and so is Dragon Quest, alright? Really, it’s s shame we never got around to doing a Dragon Quest IX podcast. Maybe one day I’ll hound down Greggo and force him to talk about it for an hour with us. Ah, dreams~

Ep 106OSMcrap: Well, er, how about…Late and Uncut?

E

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Basil releases a podcast a week and a half late! Not only is it late, but it’s fractured, depressed husk of a glorious experimental OSMcast that failed to be realized. In other words, pretty much you get Basil, Rail, and Kevin talking about some cool stuff then we tell you all about this awesome local anime con that has now already happened. That said, most of that time was spent getting ready for the con, working said con, the recuperating after previously stated con. So anyway, roughly 20 minutes of it is worth listening to, more or less. Next time, MTAC OMNI SUPER DUPER OSMCAST!

Ep 105BONUS: Sestren Dreamcast Episode 3 – PSN Gets 6.9′d

E

Now let's see who gets back online first, the OSMcast! or PSN! So, unfortunately due to the nature of our producer’s job constantly sending him out of state as bookends to the natural disaster that hit Alabama, we haven’t had a chance to get our MTAC podcast mastered yet. However, Basil has also been pulling regular duty on another podcast, a video game podcast by the name of the Sestren Dreamcast. So here’s the latest of the said podcast! We talk about concept and usefulness of video games reviews, the new Nintendo Console, and the PSN being down. If you’d like to check out the Sestren forums, here’s a link to that place too!

Ep 104OSMcast: Summer Wars 4-18-2011

E

Hey when you get to watch animation looking this good, your jaw is going to drop it like it's hot as well. Since last time we talked about a movie that was awesome and incredibly hard to find at a decent price, we decided to instead talk about a movie that is awesome and quite readily available! So here’a s a podcast all about Mamoru Hosoda’s and studio MADHOUSE’s Summer Wars. OSMnotes The internet is down and I’m having to update this from my phone, sooooo here’s some copy and paste about our plans for MTAC: And as you no doubt may have heard on said recording, we are doing a variety of panels at MTAC! From teas to engrish to Go Nagai, we’ve pretty much going to have you covered about what’s important in life. (Note: The times are of course tentative and subject to change at MTAC’s needs and/or whims!) Engrish Jambore (Panel 3, Friday 2PM) : Basil and Drew shop off a bunch of Engrishy-clips. Tea: Green and More! (Panel 4, Friday 6PM): the elusive Doug throws down on the haps in tea. Anime’s Creepy Uncle: Go Nagai At A Glance (Panel 4, Friday 9PM) : Basil and Kevin look through the works and craziness of anime and manga creator Go Nagai. Getting Your Anime Groove Back (Panel 3, Saturday 5:30PM): Think you might be getting out of anime? Well Basil just might have some shows to get you back in the game, as it were.

Ep 103OSMcast: Urusei Yatsura 2: Beautiful Dreamer 4-4-2011

E

Urusei Yatsura 2: Beautiful Dreamer So what happens when Mamoru Oshii decides to stretch his directing chops with a Rumiko Takahashi property? You get the excellent film Urusei Yatsura 2: Beautiful Dreamer. What happens when you get two anime geeks in a room with a microphone to talk about said film? You get this podcast. OSMnotes You know, back when I bought this film last year, I paid around $20 for it. Now it’s $80-150. That’s pretty crazy! It makes Crusher Joe seem kinda reasonable online in comparison. And as you no doubt may have heard on said recording, we are doing a variety of panels at MTAC!

Ep 102OSMcast: Drive Angry 03-07-2011

E

The best movie of 2011 you probably never saw! This podcast was in fact so angry, we had to let it cool down for an extra two weeks just so we could get it out here. It’s all about Nicolas Cage’s latest vehicle of awesomeness, Drive Angry. Always angry special guest Daryl Surat joins us for this drive-filled action packed people talking exciting episode of excitement. We talk about all sorts of things that seemed really important at the time! And quite possibly still do! OSMnotes Sadly, as it turned out that even two eeks ago, Drive Angry was already out of our local theaters. It’s a real shame. But these things do tend to come out in home media form, so when it does, you should watch this film, 3D or no! Also, Momocon has already happened, but it was fun! A good time was had by all. Next up on the OSMcast Road Show? MTAC! We’ll be present two lovely panels for your education and also possibly amusement! We’ll be rocking out with the Getting Your Anime Groove Back panel that was discussed IN THIS VERY EPISODE. And also, Anime’s Creepy Uncle, a Glance at Go Nagai, which may or may not have been mentioned, I can’t remember. Still, it’s gonna be fun. It’s gonna be crazy. It’s gonna be awesome.

Ep 101OSMcrap: “The REALLY real real Kami-Con 2011 Experience”

E

Kami-Con's mascot, Kosho. Apparently the con has sister mascots, and she's the dark one. I think. The con season has already kicked into full swing and lo, we bring you once more the REAL SHIT about a recent convention, specifically Kami-Con, in the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa that happened this past weekend. So here it is, a whole lot of on the spot audio interviews. At Kami-Con. OSMnotes I swear we will have a regular podcast at some point! Really! Also, several people asked me (Basil) what clips I showed at the Pain Train at Kami-Con. I’ll probably bang out a new post with that stuff later.

Feb 21, 201137 min

Ep 100OSMcrap: “The REALLY real real PixelCon 2011 Experience”

E

PixelCon 2011 On a whim of a flight of fancy, basil decided to take a quick road trip over to Tuscaloosa to check out PixelCon: A Convention for Gamers, and see what the haps were. Is haps even used nowadays? Hmm. Well, here’s the haps anyway, straight from the con goers mouths, into a microphone, then regurgitated into mp3 format. Share and enjoy! OSMnotes Okay, so actually Rail drove Basil there, but he was too busy _actually playing video game_s instead of harassing people with a microphone. But we all know what was important here! So where will the OSMcast journey to next? Why, to Kami-Con! It’s an anime con, also in Tuscaloosa. And rumor has it, that Basil will even have panels there! It will be exciting! Adventurous! Panelriffic! It will be the haps.

Ep 99OSMcast: 2010 OSMawards! (AGGRESSIVE Edition) 01-24-2011

E

OSMrobo got into the whole video game thing a little bit TOO much... It’s time to kick ass, take names, and chew some gum as the OSMcast wraps up the 2010 OSMawards with 2 hours of video game talk. Which is a lot. OSMnotes The OSMcast have been pretty busy lately! Basil guest-started on the one of the latest episodes of the Chainsaw Buffet podcast, where they did even more year in review hijinks! Although, after a total of almost 4 hours of OSMcast yearing in reviewing you’d think we would cover it all, but no. The Chainsaw guys have proven that the Basil Rock of OSM can be squeezed yet for more blood. Of awesome. And perhaps Basil will actually make use of his blog now? Well, Basil certainly has no clue, but he did churn out a post about liking Ghost Trick a lot. And as always, Lee churns out his webcomic Hazard’s Wake like a MADMAN. A hazardous madman.

Jan 24, 20111h 38m

Ep 98OSMcast: 2010 OSMawards! (Passive Edition) 01-10-2011

E

According to Lee: "The blue lines aren't because I drew it on notebook paper. They are in fact the enemy robot's barrier shield that the OSMrobo is ripping through." As we all know, the first thing you do in a new year is to look back at the previous year, unless you have a decade to deal with. So to ring in 2011 we have got the first half of the 2010 OSMawards! In this just-shy-of-two-hours BEHEMOTH of a podcast we tackle the “passive” media of 2010. TV shows, movies, anime, novels, stuff you consume but don’t interact with… pretty much everything expect video games. So strap in, get some nice hot cocoa a warmin’, and listen to us yammer for a while! Bonus: And gaze up the MAJESTY that is OSMrobo that Lee drew while recording. His fists are fists of JUSTICE. And awesomeness. OSMnotes Bonus props to Narutaki of Reverse Thieves for rising to the challenge letting us know her picks via Twitter to help us fill in the gaps! If you’s also like to your thoughts in on a particular subject before we record, just keep an eye out for Basil’s twitter feed. Usually the day of recording or so, he’ll be asking for input. Speaking of asking for input, Basil was invited onto the Chainsaw Buffet podcast to further talk about the year 2010, which he did with gusto. Keep an eye for it!

Ep 97OSMcast: Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier 12-20-2010

E

Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier To finish off the year, we here at the OSMcast decided to give the gift that keeps on giving: chest puppies a podcast! In this case, we talk about Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier, from Atlus by way of Banpresto and Monolith Soft. And in the spirit of fan service, for the second half of the podcast where we actually TALK about the boobalicious video game that gives us our episode title, we’re joined by Gerald from the always awesome AWO, who got roughly five minutes warning to be on the show. Because Gerald is a man of ACTION. And just in case you need a visual aid about the subject matter at hand (hurr hurr), here you go: Just look at'em go! OSMnotes It’s not impossible to find this game, you just have to look online. Being that we have to be a form of online media, we can help point you in the right direction! And just in case you were curious, here’s David Cabrera’s post all about the crazily awesome localization of the game. _ ALSO IMPORTANT NOTICE DRAGON QUEST 6 IS HEADING FOR THE US IN FEBRUARY WHOOOOOO!!!!! _

Ep 96OSMtable: A Roundtable About Christmas Specials

E

You kids still like that Soul Eater, right? The OSMcast returns somewhat triumphant from our holiday hiatus with an episode all about holiday Christmas Specials! So warm up some eggnog, curl up at the fire, and do whatever holiday things that you do while we spin you a yarn of holiday cheer and bullets. OSMnotes We tried something off the cuff with Basil asking for comments from his Twitter. It seemed to go well, so expect for such tom foolery in the future. Thanks to every one that responded!

Ep 95OSMcast! Show 75: Cross Game 11-8-2010

E

It’s time to hit another OSMcast out of the park as we talk about Mitsuru Adachi’s Cross Game! That said, the only actual OSMcast player on this one is Basil, as everyone else was brought in from other podcasts. We’re joined by the Reverse Thieves: Hisui and Narutaki, as well as by Drew of Akihabra Renditions. So one could say it’s an All-Star team this episode. Also, it’s two hours long, probably because there was no one to keep Basil in check.Musical Interlude: Girl Talk! Drew’s Moment of OSM becomes the soundtrack to which this episode rocks to. Considering the mash-up nature of this episode, it is somewhat appropriate! OSMnotesYou can stream Cross Game in anime form via Hulu, and you can purchase Cross Game in manga form from Amazon, among other retailers. And you should! It is amazing stuff, that will harm your heart and crush you soul, if you’d just let it!Also watch Sym-Bionic Titan. And Star Driver. Both are quality mecha-fied experiences that deliver top-notch giant robot but also kids in high school action. And if you happen to be in Huntsville, AL this weekend we’re helping throw a pretty awesome minicon on Saturday, where Basil will be running panels and DJ Inubito will be spinning beats.

Ep 94OSMinterview: Micah Solusod @ HamaCon

E

Micah Solusod Back in June at HamaCon here in Huntsville, AL we got the chance to talk to one of Funimation’s freshest talents, Micah Solusod! He’s probably best known for his work as Soul Eater Evans in Soul Eater. However he has already been in several roles, including stuff from Birdy the Mighty Decode, Big Windup!, and Corpse Princess. He recently has reopened his website which you should totally check out. Protip: When conducting podcast interviews, do not record them right beside air conditioning units. This is very important!

Ep 93OSMcast: RIN-NE 10-11-2010

E

dollar dollar bill y'all Some people say that today is Columbus Day, where some _dude _in 1492 took an unexpected vacation to the Bahamas. Some others will tell you that today is National Coming Out Day, a day of civil awareness and discourse about LGBT, in which I have discovered is NOT the acronym for Legend of the Galactic Heroes, I just always get those confused! BUT NO. Today is actually the OSMcast Releases a Podcast about RIN-NE Day! This Awesomely Recognized holiday (recognized by all human beings that like awesome things, and also puppies) is so called because today was the day we released an episode about Rumiko Takahashi’s latest manga work, RIN-NE. How exciting!

Ep 92OSMcast: Anime Weekend Atlanta 16 09-27-2010

E

Anime Weekend Atlanta - September 17th-19th, 2010 Another year, another AWA. Another AWA, another podcast about AWA! So here is our con-report on Anime Weekend Atlanta 16, recorded late late Saturday night in our secret lair within the confines of the Renaissance Waverly Hotel. It covers Friday and Saturday since at the time of recording, Sunday hadn’t even officially happened yet! We are joined by the most dapper of gentlemen that are the Chainsaw Buffet podcast. So come listen in on te THRILL that is us talking about panels! The EXCITEMENT as Basil talks about locking his keys in his car! The WONDER of anime fans in Atlanta! OSMnotes As always, AWA was a grand ol’ time. We could type out all the awesome things we went to, but chances are you just listened to all of it! So instead I’m going to tell you all to go check out Dave Merrill’s webcomic ZERO FIGHTER. It’s pretty good stuff! Also we know that the Scott Pilgrim podcast file is ending early. It apparently finished rendering too early and we didn’t catch it. We are in the process of fixing it and once we do we’ll edit this post to let you know the fixed version is in place so you all can re-download it. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Sep 27, 20101h 22m

Ep 91OSMcast: Scott Pilgrim 9-13-2010

E

When in doubt, video games. Running with a full four man crew the OSMcast_!_ is BACK and talking about SCOTT PILGRIM. Vs, uh, I dunno, a bunch of stuff! We talk about the graphic novels by Bryan Lee O’Malley, the movie adaption of said graphic novels directed by Edgar Wright, as well as the video game that adapts from _both _those things made by Ubisoft Montreal. That’s a lot of stuff! GET YOUR LINKS ON: Anime3000! Empire Building Architect Sean Russell is the man with the plan, and that plan is to have all sorts of podcasts and other sorts of crazy stuff for your perusal. From his A3K Panel and Bonus Round, Reverse Thieves’ The Speakeasy, and Josh Dunham’s Animēshon Podcast, there is a TON of stuff to listen to. A TON. (Also, a ton of links.) OSMnotes I GUESS you could go see the movies, but really the best thing you can do is get you some of those BOOKS. Most of the bi ol’ booksellers of the land should have them thanks to to movie, or you could just order then from Amazon. And sure, we have absolutely nothing to do with Anime Hell, but it's always, always a highlight of the show. And hell, the Scott Pilgrim website even has the first few pages up from each book to check out if you are so interested. Or you could not, I guess! THE CHOICE IS YOURS. And THIS WEEK. AWA. Anime Weekend Atlanta. MAN OH MAN. They even have a PDF OF THE SCHEDULE. It is filled to the BRIM with bombastic anime con panel goodness. And this year we actually are getting to help add to that gumbo of greatness, goulash of grandiose, guacamole of gloriousness. That anime con schedule of anime con_isity_. The gameplay is as good as the plot is generic. That's Ys! The OSMrenditions Panels of Power both happen on Friday. At 1 in the Special Events room in Kennesaw we’ll be having an Engrish Jamboree! Come celebrate politically incorrect racism as we laugh at Japanese people failing at the English language. Then at 4 in one of Panel Rooms (Galleria 104) we’ll be hosting the AWA Wild World of Sports (Anime). I bet you’ll never be able to tell what we are talking about! Of course, we _could _be making surprise appearances at other panels. Say for example at 3:30 on Saturday in Kennesaw there is a Podcaster roundtable, and we just happen to be a podcast! That podcasts a lot about anime! Hmmm! And also on Saturday earlier at 1:00 in Galleria 104 there is a Con DJing 101 panel, and we happen to have a DJ on deck, who tends to spin at anime cons… HMMMM. And, as always, one can never tell when Basil is going to assault random con goers with microphones. Good times!

Ep 90OSMcast: Black Jack 8-30-2010

E

Black Jack. He's a REAL DOCTOR. For this episode of the OSMcast_!_ we decided to tangle with Osamu Tezuka’s Black Jack, being released by Vertical. But frankly the dark doctor was more than we could handle alone, so we had to call in some back up. Who in the world could save us? None other than Clarissa from the Anime World Order podcast! So come listen in as we talk about the surgical sweetness that is Black Jack. OSMnotes While I know locally it’s not terribly hard to track down volumes of this manga, I also know you can always pick up a copy on Amazon. So buy it. You’ll thank us later. You hear that, you're ALL going DOWN. ... With Laughter. At AWA. And yes, that’s right in a mere matter of weeks the OSMcast_!_ shall be taking our annual sojourn to greatest anime con of the southeast, Anime Weekend Atlanta. There will be thrills, chills, excitement, PODCASTING. Worlds will be rocked. Minds, BLOWN. Also, we have panels. Basil will be teaming up with Drew from Akihabara Renditions for two action-packed riveting panels of amazement. Now, if you listened to the podcast, and why wouldn’t you, you already know what’s going down. But for those of you that for some reason are reading this instead of immediately clicking on that arrow for audio epiphany, he’s some spoilers. Okay I'll admit it. I just wanted an excuse to post this amazing poster. For one, we’ll be hosting an Engrish Jamboree. Yeah, a whole panel of Japanese people trying to speaking English and failing spectacularly. It’s incredibly politically correct! And THEN, or perhaps before (I have no clue which panel comes first), we’ll he hosting AWA’s Wide World of Sports (Anime). In case you haven’t figured it out yet, it’s a panel on sports anime, and why it’s awesome. And if you disagree, why you’re WRONG. And speaking of being wrong, the Expendables was awesome and you like stuff being blown up, shot at, or stabbed and hearing wonderfully horrendous dialog you should have already seen it. Oh wait, I guess everyone already did. So uh, go see Scott Pilgrim! Apparently no one has gotten around to doing that yet.

Ep 89OSMcast: ModNation Racers 8-16-2010

E

Truly, only on the master system that is the PS3 can one truly enjoy the Spirit of the Drift™. In this fast and FURIOUS episode of the OSMcast_!_ we decided to take the best kart racer around for a spin. And in case you haven’t read the title yet, that game is United Front Games’ ModNation Racers. OSMnotes You can buy ModNation Racers everywhere video games are sold! And also PS3s, in case you need one of those. And you would like some free entertainment, our pal Victor has started updating his website with his brand new novella Chairshot: A Love Story. It’s an exciting tale of triumph, anguish, and wrestling. You can start reading it here.

Ep 88OSMinterview: Travis Willingham and Laura Bailey @ MTAC Odyssey

It’s a veritable two for one interview bonanza here on the OSMcast as we interview not one, but _two _awesome voice actors at once while we were hanging out at this year’s MTAC. Travis is probbaly best known for his work as Roy Mustang from Fullmetal Alchemist: (Nazi-verse as well as the superior Brotherhood persuasion) and Guile from Street Fighter IV. Not be out done, Laura played the role of Lust in the Fullmetal Moneymakers as well as Chun-li fom Street Fighter IV.

Ep 87OSMcast: A Drifting Life 7-18-2010

E

Gekiga: The Other White Meat, if Meat was Manga, and not Meat After going two months, almost to the day, of not having a podcast with an actual date in the title, we bring it back old school with a podcast about something really old school. We speak of a most super-hyper-mega-awesome manga A Drifting Life, by Yoshihiro Tatsumi: A Drifting Life. It’s his auto-biography, but done in manga form. Since you know, he creates manga and all. It’s awesome. This is Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies of Awesome You Should Play This The Video Game OSMnotes A Drifting Life is just under $20 at Amazon at the time of this post. You should go buy it! You can also buy Dragon Quest IX from Amazon, but I’m pretty sure you can buy that wherever video game are being sold. It’s a pretty good one! But seriously, make sure you get A Drifting Life. The manga is an inspiring work, and anyone with a love for manga is sure to come away a better person for having read it. A work like this is honestly an incredibly rare treat for us, and something that everyone should indulge themselves in. Because sometimes even webcomics needs a shot of espresso. And if you are interested in reading things like online comics, Eric and Lee have kicked off a brand new webcomic called Affogato Style. And if you are not, then uh… Go anyway. It’s got coffee, and explosions, and sometimes, it’s even funny. *Since manga doesn’t exactly have a soundtrack, our stupendous soundman picked out some tracks for the breaks. They are: Gabriel & Dresden Ft. Molly – Tracking Treasure and DownPaul van Dyk – We are alive (DJ Iceys Arctic Bass Mix).

Ep 86OSMtable: A Roundtable About Internet Television

E

Hulu has lots of things on it, that you can watch. Like House of Five Leaves. You should watch that. It's pretty great. What’s this?! A new podcast? INDEED IT IS! And lo and behold, it’s another roundtable episode! We had some really good feedback the last time we did it, so we’ve decided to keep doing them whenever we think up a topic we can round about at a table. This time, we talk about Online or Internet TV, specifically online streaming for the most part. OSMnotes Okay so sometimes it’s every other _other _week. It happens! Maybe next time we won’t try and cram two cons in a month… No we probably will! Especially when they are as fun as HamaCon and SeishunCon.

Ep 85OSMinterview: Carl Gustav Horn @ Ohayocon 10

E

Carl Gustav Horn in all his glory, representing the Big D. H. When we started the OSM cast_!_, there were a few people we knew we just _had _to interview. This is one of them! So we decided to finally dust off our interview from Ohayocon 10 and present to you The Life and Times of Carl Gustav Horn, Dark Horse’s most baddass manga editor. the man has worked on such titles as the manga version of Neon Genesis Evangelion, The Shinji Ikari Raising Project, Clover, and others. He talks to us on how he got started in the industry, he thoughts on the importance of buying anime and manga in the US, and more. OSMnotes I don’t know why you are reading this and not listening to Carl Horn talk. I mean all we had to REALLY do is just say “Start!” and the man whisked us away on a tale of adventure and manga editing.

Ep 84OSMcast: The Worst 10 Anime of the 2000s OSM(crap)awards!

E

I have nothing witty to say here. Normally on the OSMcast!, we tend to try and talk about the things that we like. Things that are awesome. Sometimes awesomely good, sometimes awesomely bad. Occasionally however, we do decided to get our hate on. This is that kind of show. HOWEVER, what we DO bring along with this (2 HOUR) cornucopia of bile and anger is an awesome guest: Gerald of Anime World Order! Haters Gonna Hate WARNING: This is a podcast about griping. Sometimes on things we have gone on the record of saying that are awesome! It happens! Nothing is perfect, not even Giant Ro- Okay ASIDE FROM GIANT ROBO, everything has it’s issues. And we will be talking a lot about those things. Please realize that we also do like many, many things, that you can find in other the OSMcast’s Index of OSMs Past, and AWO’s Review Index. OSMnotes THERE. DONE. OVER. Now nothing more can be said that hasn’t about the 2000s! We just finished it off! Boo-yah! Well, OK. Perhaps that is not the case. But nevertheless, we should look our eyes upon to THE FUTURE! And the future is the OSMcast will be in TWO count ‘em TWO anime cons in June. INSANITY. Those two cons? Why had you read the entry for the previous podcast, you’d know! They are HamaCon (June 4-6, Huntsville, AL) and Seishun-Con (June 25-27, Atlanta, GA). We will be doing a bazillion panels and things there. You should check them out if at all possible!

Ep 83OSMcast: Kick-Ass 5-17-2010

E

The name says it all, really. With summer comes summer movies. Comic book movies. We tend to like both these things so we have a podcast for people who like comic book movies. In particular this go-around, Kick -Ass! PROMO: Anime82! Host, mad-man, genius Regan Strongblood had a dream. He would talk about anime, and then get a bunch of other podcasters to talk about anime on his same show. The results, they are substantial. OSMnotes Speaking of the Anime82 podcast, the last third of the OMEGA-MECHA-THON-2000 should be posted soon, and will have Basil, Kevin, and Lee blabbing on about Mazinkaiser. Pretty good stuff! And in OSMcast news, June is filled with ACTION-PACKED PANEL EXCITEMENT. DJ EXCITEMENT. We are going to two cons. Same month. MADNESS. HamaCon, and Seishun-Con.

Ep 82OSMinterview: Spike Spencer @ MTAC Odyssey

E

Spike Spencer What’s this?! A bonus episode out of nowhere?! Say it ain’t so! You see, at MTAC Odyssey we teamed yup with the wonderful gentlemen of the Chainsaw Buffet podcast to interview Spike Spencer. Spike, has done many a role in anime and video games, but is most likely best known for doing the voice of Shinji from Neon Genesis Evangelion. And since the Chainsaw Buffet guys have already released their version of interview, we decided to use the magic of RSS feeds to let you in on the action! So if you notice the completely different opening song, that’s why.

Ep 81OSMcast: MTAC Odyssey 5-3-2010

E

“It is said that as many days as there are in the whole journey, so many are the otaku and podcasters that stand along the road, each microphone and netbook at the interval of a day’s journey; and these are stayed neither by snow nor rain nor heat nor darkness nor asstons of even more rain from accomplishing their appointed course with all speed.” – Podcaster’s Creed of the Persian Empire (trans. B.A. Berchekas 2010) MTAC Odyssey That’s right folks, despite the crazy, crazy rains that have plagued Nashville and it’s metropolitan area ss well as the rest of Tennessee, the OSMcast has soldiered on through crappy hotel dives and Dunkin Donuts to bring you you our super-omega-omni-cast MTAC Odyssey con review. It’s a whopping knee-slappin’ one hour, twenty fours minutes, and thirty nine seconds of Middle Tennessee Anime Convention Goodness. It has our con reviews spanning all three days, interviews with you the con-goers yourselves, as well as a chat we had with Media Relations and Advertising Director Christi Binkley and Community Relations Director Nicholas Qualls.

Ep 80OSMcrap: “The REALLY real real Ohayocon 10 Experience”

E

The realliest! Since we are about to go to a whole other new con in a matter of weeks, it’s high-time we finish what we started with Ohayocon and bring to you The REALLY real real Ohayocon 10 Experience! That’s right, REAL podcasters talking to REAL con-goers. It’s so real, you’ll probably not want to listen to it the car, for fear of wrecking due to the high amounts of Real involved. And not because since it was stuff recorded on the show floor its kinda hard to make it out sometimes NOPE. OSMnotes OH GOD MTAC IS SO SOON ALSO SO NOT READY 20th Century King : A look at Naoki Urasawa: the OSMcast! will be looking at one of the most awesome manga and anime creators of our time, Naoki Urasawa. Perhaps you may have heard of him! We’ll be looking stuff from as early as Yawara! A Fashionable Judo Girl (Maybe even Beta!!!), through Master Keaton and Monster, and even his latest stuff like 20th Century Boys, PLUTO, and Billy Bat. We’ll also be coving the various forms his works have taken, like the Monster anime (that has been running on SciF- I mean, SyFy, and the 20th Century Boys live action films. Tsundere: Why do we love the ones that hate us most?: The panel we ran at Ohayocon returns, bigger, badder, slightly less out of our asses! Ah, tsunderes. You know the “I hate you! But I love you! But I hate you! But I-” types best exemplified by say, Akane from Ranma 1/2. This is a panel dedicated to those wonderful ladies (and guys in some cases) that can go from raging demon to moe moe in under six seconds. We, the intrepid risk takers and go getters here at the OSMcast! will be talking about this most classic of anime tropes. The history, the whys, the hows, and we’ll probably even get pissed off at you, before secretly showing that we actually like you. The Works of Rumiko Takahashi: This is a panel borne from the hot fiery shounen brolliance that is the OSMrenditions (OSMcast! + Akihabara Renditions) this is a panel where we talk about Rumiko Takahashi. And probably argue about her stuff a lot. It should be pretty entertaining!

Ep 79OSMcast: Mass Effect 2 4-5-2010

E

Mordin: This is the new why you play Mass Effect. It’s a new month! To celebrate the OSMcast_!_ decided to talk about a game from the even more not-too distant past than the last time. So here’s a podcast where we talk about BioWare’s scifi RPG/shooter hybrid sequel Mass Effect 2! OSMnotes The OSMcast_!_ is once again going to MTAC! And, craziness of craziness, we are running panels. Several, in fact! 20th Century King: A look at Naoki Urasawa : the OSMcast! will be looking at one of the most awesome manga and anime creators of our time, Naoki Urasawa. Ep 77OSMcast: The Top 10 Anime of the 2000s OSMawards!

E

The gold color scheme means it's special. That’s right! AWO isn’t the only podcast doing a “decade in review” podcast months after everyone else did one! We’ve got one too! Although ours is a little different. Basil, Eric, Kevin, and Rail worked up our each individual Top 10s and then we talk about them in a monolithic almost two hours ironcaged deathmatch of DEATH. While wearing audio-tuxedos. Because we’re classy. OSMnotes Hopefully you have found something you liked! If not, that only means you are _already _us relistening to ourselves talk. So cut it out, will ya?! As always, comment, email, voice mail! If anyone wants a full listing, I know that I (Basil) have my list that I can post, and I’m pretty sure so does Kevin, and probably Eric and Rail, too. Or I guess we could listen and jot everything down manually…_ Nah…_ Next time, something from the wacky fun-filled world of OHAYOCON!

Ep 76OSMtable: A Roundtable About Webcomics

E

See it's from a webcomic and it has a round table! That's COMEDY! In this episode we try something new and exciting! In this episode Eric, Sooz, Lee, and Mysterious Racer X talk about webcomics. The Whats, Hows, Whys, all that jazz! AND MORE! Or perhaps not. The only way to find out, however, is to listen! I stole Lee’s image Promo Link: HAZARD’S WAKE! It is a comic. That Lee does. It makes RPG jokes. Usually they are pretty good ones. You should read it. And laugh. I stole Sooz’s image last time Promo Link: Reliquary! This is also a comic. That Sooz does. It tends to not make RPG jokes. You should read this too. OSMnotes So in lieu of these exciting experimental times, you should also break tradition and tell us what you think! Comment! Email! Call! Although as we said in the opening bit, the first 14 minutes will be somewhat choppy, but totally listen-able. SO LISTEN.

Ep 75OSMinterview: Jerry Jewell @ Ohayocon 10

E

This photo of Jerry Jewell is evidence that all photos taken in Texas must look like they come from old Westerns. It's true! Trudging back forth from the cold, cold North to the slightly less cold, cold South, the OSMcast brings you this interview from the always awesome voice actor Jerry Jewell! He has done some greats roles such as Barry The Chopper from Fullmetal Alchemist, Claire Stanfield from Baccano!, and all sorts of stuff. Super Cool Music Link: The Peach Truck Republic! This is the fact the jamband that Jerry speaks of! The one that he plays bass in and also vocals! Turns out, Jerry plays a pretty mean bass. And the songs, they are rockin’. We played some of their music in the breaks to give you all a taste, but clicking that link can lead you on to even more amazing things like CDs filled to the brim of music, that you can actually buy. OSMnotes Okay so it’s been a month between updates… again. We’d try and say we promise to not be more like AWO in this instance… But now that they’ve started splitting up their episodes to have a different chuck each week instead of one huge update a month, we can’t even say that! But this really should not be a problem in the foreseeable future. We hope. The Peach Truck Republic, serving out pipin' hot tunes since 1993 Also, welcome everyone from Ohayocon that might be visiting us right now! We are glad you came! You should check out the Index of OSM and see what other podcast goodies we may have lying in wait for you. Or hell, just subscribe to the RSS feed with you podcatcher of choice! You know you want to. We recorded a few different segments at the con, which we’ll be rolling out to you all as time marches forward. In the meantime, you can also email us, comment, or even call the OSMline (which may or may not also be Aaron Dismuke’s phone number)! But here’s a fun fact! I don’t know if we mentioned it or not in this version of the interview, but Jerry has gotten the most google search hits out of anything ever for this podcast. The only term that’s asked for more is “OSMcast” itself. So we know you like Jerry, folks. We know!

Ep 74OSMcast: Mass Effect 1-04-2010

E

Wrex: This is why you play Mass Effect. (He also has way more porn drawn of him than any other character. Think about that.) It’s a new year! To celebrate the OSMcast_!_ decided to talk about a game from the not-too distant past. So here’s a podcast where we talk about BioWare’s scifi RPG/shooter hybrid Mass Effect! Protip: Also the sequel is coming out super-soon so you have to get prepared! Therefore, if you have already played Mass Effect consider this podcast a primer as for why the series is awesome. (Like you _need _reminding, right?) OSMnotes Gentlemen, this game is _everywhere _you want to buy it. You can even just download the game straight to your Xbox 360. Or straight to your PC via Steam. NO EXCUSES PEOPLE. I guess since Zero is actively USING his geass, we don't HAVE to watch. Yeah. So it’s a new year and you may have noticed we are now officially Bi-weekly! In the “New podcast every two weeks” sort of way, and not “Two new podcasts every week” sort of way. While we would love to blab at you that much, between school, work, and everything else under the sun, it’s just not feasible. BUT things are also on track where we will should be hitting that wondrous and wooshy-sounding deadline for the vast foreseeable future. That’s good, right? Right? Ahem. As always! You can email us, call us, comment at us, what have you! The next OSMcast_!_ will be a strange new kind of episode! So different, so strange, so _ bizarre _, even I, Basil, Lord Prophet of OSM and also, sometimes commas , do not know it’s contents. But in a couple of weeks, we ALL will know. ALL. That listen, anyway.

Ep 73OSMcast: Akira (the movie) 12-28-2009

E

Yes only the latest and greatest anime here on the OSMcast! Now you may ask yourself: “I just possibly celebrated the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and/or got some awesome swag from Santa! What could be even better?!” The answer: A podcast from the OSMcast_!_ all about the anime movie Akira! Listen now in the comfort of your own home! Take it for on the car ride back home from those obnoxious aliens relatives! Or use it to ring in the new year. The manga is pretty good stuff, too! This podcast about the movie adaptation of the manga both written and directed by Katsuhiro Otomo is _both _multi-faceted _and _enjoyable no matter what the circumstances might be! It’s not like this movie hasn’t been talked to death or anything! OSMnotes So after recording this podcast and looking where one might want to pick this movie up, we discovered that while the Blu-ray edition is plentiful and can be bought most anywhere, Bandai (via their Honneamise label) never bothered to release an equivalent DVD version. That means the last DVD version of Akira made on DVD was the Geneon Signature Series one released in 2004. Hey remember these guys? Yeah, that’s right. Geneon. On the plus side Right Stuf has it for cheap! Or you could also start buying the manga, as Kodansha has resumed publishing rights the manga series and has put out the first volume, with the rest being released in 2010. Till next week (hopefully)!

Ep 72OSMcast: Skip Beat! 12-7-2009

E

Love This Direct from the Echo Chamber, deep as Heino’s voice, the OSMcast returns! In this thrill-packed episode of thrills, chills, and _excitement _we talk about butts, ninjas, and movies. And also a manga and anime series called _Skip Beat! _by Yoshiki Nakamura. OSMnotes Skip Beat can be obtained in one of two ways! You could A.) Buy the manga being released by Viz or B.) Watch the anime based on the manga via Crunchyroll. Of course there is only so much anime and so much more of the manga, one’s mileage may vary. That is, as long as you are man enough for it! And as long as you made it to the end of the podcast, you should be! Go you! Edit: Oh hey! I guess I should edit this further, huh? OKAY HERE WE GO. CHECK THIS OUT IT’S GOING TO BE AWESOME. … Live the Creed It appears to be that I have completely forgotten what I was going to type about. These things happen when you work retail during the holidays. So instead you should go see two movies: Ninja Assassin, which I talked about on the podcast you should totally go see. But also Disney’s Princess and the Frog. It’s very good, easily one of my favorites. And now… a Lee’s List! Lee’s List: How cool it is when the OSMcast updates on time. BURN DAMN RIGHT IT’S COOL JUST LIKE THIS ONE WHICH COMPLETELY UPDATED ON A MONDAY OH WAIT WE KINDA UPDATED A WEEK LATE AND THEN THIS UPDATE WASN’T FINISHED TILL LATE ON TUESDAY CRAP. Hm. Aren't they so WACKY?! Let’s ignore that one. Lee’s List: The Best Gift to Give to an Immortal who’s marrying your Best Friend’s evil twin? The entire series of Seinfeld. It’s something they’ll either appreciate, or hate you forever for. Either way, the evil twin will think you’re cool. And as always, email us! Send us some love on the OSMline! Comment! Next week we’ll be amazed that a film that is hailed as one of anime’s greatest works in movie form wasn’t half bad!

Ep 71OSMcast: Shin Mazinger Shougeki! Z Hen 11-16-2009

E

This is the REAL Mazinger, MAN. For this TWO HOUR BEHEMOTH of an OSMcast_!_, we are once again joined by Daryl Surat of Anime World Order and Otaku USA to talk about STUFF. We talk about anime, video games, the State of The Mecha Genre, but really we mostly talk about S** hin Mazinger Z**, the awesome new re-imagining of the classic Go Nagai series, as the director Yasuhiro Imagawa only knows how: By making it really, really awesome. Protip: Due to magical and mystical nature of audio processing Daryl sounds a touch softer than Kevin and Basil. It makes us feel more important than we actually are. Also we trip over each over a little bit, as while Daryl is used to talking via the Internets, Basil and Kevin are not. You have been warned! Promo: THIS IS NOT AN ANIME PODCAST! Those liars! They talk about anime ALL THE TIME. We met these guys at AWA and thought they are pretty cool. These dues talk about anime and video games and other neat nerd stuff that means they tend to cover similar stuff as us. Which again, means they are pretty cool. They will be even cooler when they get an RSS feed! (Just sayin’.) Durarara!!, It's like BACCANO! only in modern day and less caps lock, but extra punctuation. OSMnotes First off, technically we are releasing late on Monday but it’s still Monday so it counts! The file initially exported to mp3 wrong so we had to reprocess it. after DJ Inubito got home from work. Crazy, I know. Sadly right now the only way to get this show is via fansubs. This would probably be a good place to start. And if we ever get a retail release you can be sure that we will be preaching it from the mountain tops. Before this episode went up I (Basil) asked for suggestions to fill the text space up. After a few posts of nothing (well Cleavland has an idea) Lee then bombarded me with 15 bazillion ones. I suppose he must have been really bored at work today. I was going to delete post once I had a good topic but since he gave me SO MANY topics the post will stay up so I’ll have a list of options whenever I need to fill up space. I’ll call it Lee’s List. Like so~ Dragon Age: Orgins AKA Baldur's Gate III. This is a Good Thing. Also Ogres turn out to be wusses in this game. FYI. Lee’s List: Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People – I don’t know I only play good games. I kid, I kid! I haven’t played it. Too many other games I want to play before I get to before I lose myself into the land ofTelltale Games. Well. That was too short. Okay how about… Lee’s List: How Annoying it is when one of your coworkers CLIPS THEIR TOENAILS in the cubical next to yours. Geez, guy. NO MAN FUCK YOU. I GOT TO CLIP THIS SHIT BEFORE IT GETS OUT OF HAND! THESE TOENAILS. OH GOD. THESE TOENAILS. THEY ARE GROWING LIKE A CANCER THAT GROWS LIKE A TOENAIL OU** T OF TOE FUCK!** PS: While Pad is still the worst name ever in the history of ever, you can’t actually change names in Nostalgia so just accept it and find better things to complain about. Like Gonzo! But that’s pretty much beating a dead horse. Hmm…

Ep 70OSMcast: Fist of the North Star (1986 Movie) 11-02-2009

E

Chances are, if you are looking up from the ground at this man... You're already toast. After talking about Black Lion and Brutal Legend we felt, “Why stop here?” So we decided to watched what on it’s DVD box cover proclaims as “The most violent, action packed animated film of all time!” And that is the 1986 anime film adaptation of Fist of the North Star by Tetsuo Hara and Buronson. OSMnotes Savvy shoppers can find this DVD pretty easily for around $20-25. If you want to watch the TV show, you can stream it. All 152 episodes. And from what we hear, it is very entertaining. As long as people exploding in amazing fashion along with equally amazing 80’s fashion is your thing (How can that NOT?!}. You may also consider on picking up Nostalgia, if the idea of a classic turn-based J-RPG on the go sounds appealing to you. Which you _should _find compelling, because it’s awesome. How did this happen? And awesome is kind of what we do around here. (We also talk into a microphone.) However you do not need a microphone to talk to us! Just a phone that’s capable of dialing 1-209-OSM-LINE. Or perhaps (209) 676-5463. If you would rather type to us, you can always just comment down below, or send us an email at [email protected]. I suppose there is also our forum link on the sidebar, too! While you do have to sign up for it, there is a world of message boarding goodness inside! It's as fun as it looks. (We mean that in a good way!) BUT BEFORE I FORGET! The illustrious renegade remixers at Dou(gai)jin Recordings have finally released their latest album, Renegade Remix Force, up for download! They guys over at This is Not an Anime Podcast! seemed to dig it in their review, so perhaps you shall as well. You can go straight to their Releases page and download the album, or you can be EXTRA lazy and download from our mirror. (The one plus from our mirror is that Basil went through and re-tagged everything to work properly with his Zune. So if something like that matters, go ahead and suck our bandwidth dry! At the moment we have plenty.) Until next week! … Or maybe the week after! We aren’t what’s getting recorded yet or not.

Ep 69OSMcast: Brutal Legend… And Friends! 10-19-2009

E

You want to talk Brutal? I had to edit this in Paint. Makes it all jaggy and shit. While a day late and a dollar short, the OSMcast_!_ returns with some _slightly _less than hot off the presses podcasting action! Since the latest season of anime hitting Japan pretty much blows, we’ve discovered that we’ve ended up playing a lot more video games than usual! So we took the whole Moment of OSM/Whatcha Been Playing segment into the entire podcast. ISN’T THIS EXCITING!?! In the end we talk the most about Brutal Legend, but we cover the bases from Uncharted 2 to Phantasy Star IV and a whole bunch inbetween. Old, new, we don’t care! OSMnotes This was supposed to have shown up on the 19th, sure. But Basil’s flash drive died. So we had to find another way to transfer the files (Which ended up being a new flash drive). Then Basil installed Windows 7! Which means all his programs went bye bye and he didn’t realize quite what all that meant until he had to upload and format the podcast for publiscation and stuff. So you can forward all complaints to [email protected]. Or any other comments you may have! It’s all good.

Ep 68OSMcast: Black Lion 15 10-05-2009

E

Black Lion A podcast that primarily deals with anime (and video games) talks about a anime? Shocking! This time, we take on Go Nagai’s _BLACK LION! _ OSMnotes Black Lion is cheap as hell online. Just check the Amazon listing. Really, unless you hate violence and gore, why aren’t you buying this right now? Next week’s episode is up in the air, as schedules are being worked out and what not. However! We have some good stuff hopefully down the pipe in the near-ish future so keep a look out! Until then: Comment. Email. OSMline. You know the drill.

Ep 67OSMcrap: “The REALLY real real AWA 15 Experience (abridged)”

E

The Ozone Commandos also keep things real Once again we bring the real scoop on what really goes down at anime cons. This time we went to the fifteenth Anime Weekend Atlanta. We talked to lots of people! And yet, only 24 minutes came out of it. So next time I guess we need to talk to _more _people. OSMnotes Due to technical-ish things occurring to make this post late, this post was made late. These things, they happen. Basil’s Internet could have been attacked by notorious waves of grizzsquirrles sent by the nefarious Other Kevin.Or perhaps the initial mp3 files did not mater correctly. I dunno! Maybe it was the Ozone Commandos. Or a secret cabal of moe fanboys. Who can say? Dou(gai)jin Recordings CD 001: Renegade Remix Force If the music in this podcast pleased you, perhaps you should make your way to Dou(gai)jin Recordings, where the music came from. We talk about them here from time to time, because they are awesome and people do not talk about them enough. They passed out CDs to the con goers at AWA, and should be uploading their latest said CD online sometime soon. So by chance you got of these CDs, you should tell them all about it in this thread they made on the AWA forums. Next week: Bloody. Gory. Ninjas. It’s Black Lion!

Ep 66OSMcast: Anime Weekend Atlanta 15 09-21-2009

E

Hell, I dunno either! This latest podcast is all about the anime con that just happened. It’s called Anime Weekend Atlanta. It was pretty awesome. And so here are two nightcap sessions we recorded on Friday and Saturday night. Aside from the usual crew of OSM Central, we also have our ever-present buddies over at Akihabra Renditions. And add that extra something with just adding Basil won’t cut it, Chad Bonin of GaijINside on Friday’s section and Niko of MTAC and GMX fame on Saturday’s section. Oh! And some guy named Dusty who happened to be on the room Friday night. We get the BIG NAMES here folks! MAJOR SCREW UP: And once again, we apologize for mixing up names on the first half. When we say Rikki Simons, we actually meant Jonathan Tarbox. These two gentlemen are both awesome guys and we feel bad for mixing up names. We blame the fact that it was really late at night. Because honestlt, Tarbox is a freakishly amazing name and I have no idea how we could forget such name. I mean, Tarbox. Man. OSMnotes Do you? AWA was amazingly awesome! Most excellent panel shout outs go out to Drew, Richard, and Dave Merrill for the great Classic Mecha panel. Clarissa’s Blackjack panel was also kickass, and major thanks for joining us for the Podcaster’s Roundtable. Gerald’s History of Hentai and AIC ( Darius was awesome too!) panels were wondrous. And, of course, I do in fact Believe in Daryl Surat. Helen McCarthy’s Unknown Tezuka Panel was illuminating. Carl Horn’s and Jonathan “Completely not Rikki Simons” Tarbox’s State of the Manga Industry was excitingly candid. And any other panels I’m not thinking of, were also probably amazing. I'd like to say Rail took the picture at this angle. So I will. … Like Vertical’s which has helped me start working on my Xmas list. See, there was just too much stuff to remember it all. Speaking of the Podcaster’s Round table, I know one or two new podcast start-ups were there talking to us after the panel was over. EMAIL US. Basil commands this! It is [email protected]. Anyone else, they can do this too! But especially the ones I’m talking about you know who you are. Also, everyone can always call us on the OSMline: (209)-OSM-LINE aka (209) 676-5463. And before I forget! Basil was a guest on the Channel Z podcast from Dragon*Con, and this one is _ video_. Where we read Naruto fanfiction. Terrible Naruto fanfiction. You have BEEN WARNED. Next week we’ll get real about AWA. _Really _real.

Ep 65OSMcrap: “The REALLY real real Dragon*Con 2009 Experience (abridged)”

E

Somewhere underneath all that text? There's a dragon. From our long and toilsome journey into the VERY HEART OF GEEK MEDIA MAYHEM we bring you, dear listeners, the SEEDY UNDERBELLY of the BEAST known as DRAGON*CON. But only 20 minutes of it. OSMnotes AWA IS THIS WEEK HOLY SHIT. SO NOT READY. So anyway, the OSMcast is going BACK to Atlanta this weekend for Anime Weekend Atlanta! I’m sure we’ll running amok wherever we go, but we’ll definitely be crashing the podcast panel again, and possibly a Gundam panel (since it will be hosted by some guys we know). And I’m pretty sure we’ll be going to these panels. Because by god SOMEONE HAS TO We’ll probably will be submitting some panels ourselves for next year, but this year there just wasn’t time. BUT! In theory we’ll be wearing our brand new OSMcast T-Shirts, but that’s only if the printer found our shirts. Also our pals at Dou(gai)jin Recordings are releasing their newest CD! For free! And while we say pals, the truth is that two of the members are in fact DJ Inubito and Basil.* Our intrepid beatsmith provided a wonderfully oonst-a-riffic rendition of a Blaster Master theme while Basil banged his head at a computer until a cover design came out. So keep an eye out for that! And although AWA will most likely be our last convention stop this year, that doesn’t mean there aren’t cons that YOU should miss out on! The question should be not What is GMX? It should be, Why not GMX? For those that like Nashville and the whole Tennessee shebang, there’s GMX. It should be exciting, new, shiny, and all around fun! We want to go, they want us to go, but previously planned things like college and weddings and whatnot get in the way. So instead, YOY SHOULD GO. And for the Georgia side, there’s Nerdacon! We had a chance to meet them at Dragon*Con, and they seem like they know how to have a good time. So if you can swing that, it’d be swell. Giant robots and signs with the letter N just go well together. And speaking of people we met at Dragon*Con, Basil had the chance to be on a future video podcast episode by Channel Z. They read Naruto fanfiction until they could read no more. (As it turns out, it’s about an hour’s worth.) As soon as they get that out, we’ll let you know. And of course, email us! Call us! Comment! Or see us AWA! That would be cool, too! (Now I’m just adding in lines so the formatting is correct.) *And Dou(gai)jin’s fearless leader, DJ Cynispin, was the secret live audience for our Gundam 00 podcast. So this CD is really just crammed with delicious OSM.

Ep 64OSMcast: Webcomics de la Pimp Edition 08-31-2009

E

Alcolla: Worst alarm clock? Or BEST ANNOUNCER? I think we all know the answer! In a stunning return of returningness, Lee has returned! Returning with him are Sooz and Basil as we talk about a bunch of webcomics we read! _EXCITEMENT! SHOCK -AND- AWE! _ PS: Did we say a bunch? We meant millions. OSMnotes The orginal plan was that we had this great written list that we were going to use make a virtual one here, one that you could click on things. And then Basil, in his infinite majesty, lost the list. Oops! However we can tell you that the image to your right is from Reliquary, Sooz’s awesome webcomic. You should check that out! Along with Lee’s webcomic, Hazard’s Wake. It is also, most awesome. Some of us at the OSMcast have twitter accounts! Like, Basil and also Brad. If you are into the whole twitter thing, you should check that out. And finally, the OSMcast is at Dragon*Con! … Right now! (It was the first chance Basil has had to edit this post. Crazy times!)
