Rumours began to swirl yesterday when NHL insider Darren Dreger suggested the Edmonton Oilers are interested in Brett Pesce. Pesce is a right-shot defenceman from the Carolina Hurricanes and has one year left on his deal at $4,025 million, according to cap friendly. Should Pesce be an option for the Oilers? Of course, we had game four of the Stanley Cup finals, which saw Vegas take a 3-1 lead, the Denver Nuggets did the same in the NBA Finals over the Miami Heat, and then Nick Taylor capped it all off with an incredible 72-foot putt to win the Canadian Open. After that, they will move more into the Oilers talk and continue their player grading series. Tempers got high in game four between the Edmonton Oilers and the Vegas Golden Knights, which resulted in a defenceman from each team getting suspended. Alex Pietrangelo received a one-game suspension for his slash on Leon Draisaitl, and Darnell Nurse got the same punishment for an instigator penalty. Somehow the NHL Department of player safety determined that they were equal punishment. The Edmonton Oilers took care of business over the weekend eliminating the Los Angeles Kings. It was a back-and-forth game six but the Oilers found a way when Kailer Yamamoto scored the game winner with less than four minutes to go. After winning round one versus the Kings, the Oilers are now rewarded the Vegas Golden Knights, who finished first in the Pacific Division and won the Western Conference in the regular season. The Golden Knights eliminated the Winnipeg Jets in five games after trailing 1-0 in that series.
