The Edmonton Oilers did not make it easy last night, but they managed to come away from game two with the tie the series up at one. Much like game one, the Oilers came out and dominated the first period. Derek Ryan and Leon Draisaitl each got the crowd rocking, making it 2-0 after the first period. It was not just offensively that the Oilers dominated but defensively, too, not allowing the LA Kings to have a shot until the last five minutes of the first. Edmonton had a stranglehold on the game still in the second period until Phillip Danault finally beat Stuart Skinner. Shortly after, the Oilers put themselves on the penalty kill killing their momentum. The game was tied heading into the second intermission after Gabe Vilardi scored his first of the playoffs. Game one did not go as planned for the Edmonton Oilers. After holding a two goal lead in the third period, the Los Angeles Kings clawed their way back into the game tying it with 16 seconds left and then winning in overtime. The Edmonton Oilers were sitting pretty after two periods in game one of round one versus the Los Angeles Kings. Leon Draisaitl got the scoring going in the first period with a quick one timer by Joonas Korpisalo which was later followed up by an Evan Bouchard goal on the powerplay. The Oilers dominated the first period making it seem like the Kings had no chance in the game. However, LA found a way to claw back into the game and with 16 seconds left, Anze Kopitar tied the game at three. The regular season wrapped up last night for the Edmonton Oilers with a good old-fashioned victory. The Oilers defeated the San Jose Sharks 5-2 at Rogers Place to close out their 82 game season with a 50-23-9 record. Mattias Janmark opened up the scoring with what would be his first of two goals on the evening. Leon Draisaitl followed his lead with his 52nd of the season, and then Evan Bouchard and Evander Kane helped extend the cushion a little more. Stuart Skinner had another strong performance between the pipes, too, stopping 27 of the 29 shots he faced. After the buzzer sounded at Rogers Place, attention turned to the Vegas Golden Knights and Seattle Kraken matchup. A win for Seattle would crown the Oilers as Western Conference and Pacific Division champions. After going down 1-0 in the first period, the Oilers responded immediately with a heavy shot from Mattias Ekholm. Neither team could score another in regulation sending the game to overtime. Over the weekend, the Edmonton Oilers went into San Jose and gave it to the Sharks defeating them 6-1. The Edmonton Oilers went the majority of the season without a shutout. That drought finally ended last week against the Los Angeles Kings after Stuart Skinner stopped all 43 shots. The next drought only lasted two days after Jack Campbell put together his best game of the season stopping all 36 shots on Saturday night. With that, Campbell ended a seven game streak of allowing four goals or more. On top of Campbell's great game, the Oilers put up run support firing six goals by John Gibson in the Anaheim goal.
