584 | 3 Ways to Visualize Today
BELIEF WORK is our golden nugget secret weapon as mindset coaches. It's one of the first principles I teach to any athlete or MCA student. When it comes to achieving our goals, a huge part of our success hinges on our ability to maintain belief over time. In this episode, I explain how belief work can and will change the way your brain processes discomfort, help you find cognitive peace and equilibrium, and raise your performance over time. -------------------------For more on the ripple effect of belief work, check out our full blog, "The Counterintuitive Way to Set Goals": https://www.positiveperformancetraining.com/blog/the-counterintuitive-way-to-set-goals For help with letting go of self-limiting narratives and stepping into your purpose, make this visualization part of your daily mindset practice. 583 | Myth-Busting Sports Psych Buzzwords with Dr. Arman Taghizadeh
Today, I am putting Arman Taghizadeh (or Dr. T) in the hot seat! Dr. T is a former NCAA D1 college wrestler-turned-psychiatrist, A TEDx speaker, and the host of The Mindset Experience Podcast. As an athlete and a psychiatrist, I couldn’t have dreamed up a better guest for this podcast. In this interview, Dr. T. re-defines common mindset terms that get tossed around in the coaching space, but are often misunderstood. As a medical professional with a sports background, Dr. T. has so much valuable insight for mindset coaches and anyone working with athletes. He dives into: How mindset coaches and psychiatrists can work together The problem with positive affirmations (and how to make them actually work) How to break down goal setting to create a road map The science behind positive self-talk How to change your neurochemistry with a “culture of appreciation” Throughout this episode, I am constantly impressed with the way Dr. T. pulls from his scientific knowledge of the brain and human psychology to strengthen his work with athletes. This one is packed with gold for coaches, athletes, parents, and mindset coaches, so grab your headphones and get ready to laugh, learn, and level up your mindset! Follow Dr. T.: Instagram: @dr.t_sportspsych Website: https://armantaghizadehmd.com/ Here’s a glance at this episode: [0:34] Dr. T. begins with a quick introduction, outlining his experience as an NCAA D1 college wrestler, and his journey to becoming a coach, then a psychiatrist. He shares what he’s most proud of, and the importance of living what you teach. [5:53] As a college wrestler, Dr. T. participated in a sport that was widely misunderstood at the time, and discovered the importance of a strong mental game first-hand. He shares how his love of sports led him to med school. [12:13] Where is the line between Mental Performance and Mental Health? Dr. T. believes physical health is the precursor to physical performance, and that the same is true for mental health. He explains why practitioners with higher level degrees don’t necessarily provide the best care for certain athletes. [17:37] Lindsey asks “When should athletes be referred out to a mental health professional?” Dr. T. outlines important red flags, and when collaboration is the best form of action. He shares why he doesn’t use the word “normal” anymore, and warning signs that indicate the need for psychiatric help and/or parent involvement. [23:19] As a mental performance coach, Dr. T. offers an extensive first session with any athlete. He brings parents into the training, and spends a lot of time inquiring about an athlete’s home life and past experiences in their sport. [27:59] Dr. T. shares how he structures his curriculum, and how he builds on each session. Lindsey asks for an example, and Dr. T. teaches his unique take on positive affirmations and self-talk. [36:23] Lindsey asks Dr. T. how (and when) he would teach a teenage athlete about the subconscious brain. Dr. T. talks about the science of “getting in the zone” and how he illustrates brain activity in different performance states. [38:35] Dr. T. dives deep into his unique take on goal setting, and why 90% of New Years Resolutions fail. He explains the importance of a roadmap, and the “magic number” of steps between you and your goal. [45:45] Lindsey and Dr. T. discuss their definition of the word “belief”. Michael Jordan missed more game winning shots than he made; Dr. T. explains how his story perfectly illustrates belief. [48:56] Dr. T. talks about the #1 thing he wants people to remember about him 20 years from now. He explains how he builds a “culture of appreciation” and talks about why an intentional gratitude practice has the power to change your neurochemistry. But I think it’s usually so much deeper than that. Money, purpose, contribution, and value can be sensitive topics, especially for moms. So today, I want to create space to talk about what YOU want. 571 | How to Coach Gen Z, with Betsy Butterick
My guest today is my friend and PPT community favorite, Betsy Butterick! Betsy is a lifelong athlete who played college basketball, a coach, and communication specialist. She is known in the industry as “The Coaches’ Coach”, mentoring leaders - from the boardroom to the locker room. Betsy has committed her life to helping leaders learn essential communication skills to help them better connect with the people they serve. As a communications expert and a generous teacher, she deeply understands the sociology of sports teams, and the importance of creating an optimal sports environment. More than anything, Betsy is committed to the lifelong practice of learning. If you are a coach, a leader, a parent, or around humans in general, you can learn something from Betsy. In our episode today, we chat about one of the most relevant topics in today’s sports landscape: Coaching Gen Z! We cover: How to get athletes to buy-in and co-create their sports environment The challenges Gen Z faces that older generations did not. Modern coaching challenges that are causing coaches to leave their careers Simple tips to communicate with Gen Z, without sacrificing “old school values”. How psychological safety on a team impacts performance. Why strong-arming Gen Z athletes won’t work, and what to do instead This episode gives coaches a new perspective and actionable tips to help them connect with their team in a way that makes the coach-athlete relationship and the team stronger. Follow Betsy: Instagram: betsy_thecoachescoach Facebook: www.facebook.com/betsbutter Website: www.betsybutterick.com Here’s a glance at this episode: [1:42] Betsy talks about how catching up on reading led her to one of her newest favorite resources, “The Art of Disagreement”. She then defines ”Gen Z”. [2:50] Betsy asks coaches to finish the sentence, “Kids these days are… “ and explains what that helps her discover about a team. Lindsey and Betsy discuss the few defining challenges that Gen Z has that older generations didn’t have. [6:33] How can I get Gen Z to listen to me? Why do they seem to care so much about what other people think of them? Betsy shares her perspective and explains the extreme way in which Gen Z internalizes failure. Rather than - “I failed”, it’s - “I am a failure”. [9:46] Betsy shares an example of one big mistake she sees many coaches making when it comes to giving feedback to Gen Z athletes. Lindsey and Betsy discuss why many lifelong coaches are now leaving their careers because what they’re doing is no longer working with this generation. [14:54] “It’s not that old school values are irrelevant, I would argue they’re more needed than ever. Our ability to connect with athletes today is paramount to our ability to transform them.” [16:56] Lindsey asks Betsy for a few actionable tips to give coaches who work with Gen Z. Betsy chats about the importance of co-creation and defines what that looks like. [21:00] Lindsey draws a parallel between the best practices for coaching Gen Z and the way she approaches parenting. [22:50] Betsy tells a story about working with a coach who had a sign saying “Because I Said So” mounted to the wall. [26:46] Betsy outlines the huge risk to coaches who want to strongarm their way into coaching athletes their way. The two discuss the importance of “psychological safety” in sports. [28:28] How has the attention span of Gen Z shifted, and what can we do as educators to meet them where they’re at? Lindsey talks about the importance of practicing what you preach. [32:56] Betsy peels back the curtain to share the highlights and structure of her Gen Z workshops. [35:28] Betsy talks about her new workshop, “Updates from the Field, Coaching Gen Z in an Optimal Sport Experience” - based on the last 5 years of conversations she had with Gen Z athletes, and why it has become the most requested keynote. 568 | How I Built This Biz
I used to dream of playing D1 basketball. I would lay awake at night, imagining myself wearing the uniform, doing the drills, and playing at that level… but it was just out of reach. 567 | How to Improve At Anything
Critiquing vs. criticizing your performance is an essential part of getting better at ANYTHING. But as athletes, so many of us are really hard on ourselves, and with that comes a huge resistance to really looking at ourselves. For me, watching film was excruciating, I did it anyway, but I was relentlessly hard on myself. In today's episode, I'll share how you can create a system of critiquing without judgement. Without this system, I would never have played basketball at the level I played.-------------------------In The Psychology of Competition toolbox, you’ll gain a scientific understanding of the psychology of competition, and be introduced to printable worksheets, on the go guided visualization, and exercises you can use to help you and your team get your mind right before, during, and after competition: https://www.positiveperformancetraining.com/PSYCHOLOGY-OF-COMPETITION Rate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts “I love Lindsey’s straight forward, realistic approach to motivation and living your best life.” <– If that sounds like you, we'd love for you to rate and review the podcast! 565 | Self-Compassion vs Self-Blame (Repost)
Are you carrying the weight of self-blame? I launch this Mental Monday with a quick mindset check-in.A key characteristic of athletes and high performers is HIGH STANDARDS. These are the same high standards that fuel late workouts, final sprints to the finish, and fierce competitiveness. But the dark side of high standards is often shame. Shame when you miss a shot, don't make the starting lineup, or let down the team. But what if it didn't have to be this way? What if you could have high standards without shame? 564 | Interview with NFL Reporter, Stacey Dales (Repost)
Episode Bio Stacey Dales has an impressive sports resume, playing for the Canadian National Team in the Olympics and earning all-american status at Oklahoma. Collecting so many awards along the way, she was drafted 3rd into the WNBA, and went on to expand her repertoire as a reporter for ESPN. This all-around powerhouse is currently killing it as a reporter for NFL network. In addition to her iconic career in sports, Stacey leads with humor and kindness (I’ll give her a pass for a little gametime trashtalk). Although we met as opponents, I have always looked up to Stacey. She’s had her eye on the prize since I’ve known her and bleeds integrity into everything she does, making her an inspiration to myself and so many others. As a prominent sports reporter, this woman is paving the way for future generations of female game players and reporters, and I truly can’t think of a better role model. From start to finish, Stacey’s interview is full of tough-love nuggets of wisdom, honest reflections, and refreshing humility. To have the opportunity to turn the tables on an expert interviewer and put her in the hotseat was an absolute pleasure. You can follow Stacey on IG @staceydales and watch her kick butt as a reporter for the NFL Network! Here’s a glance at this episode: [3:08] Lindsey introduces Stacey Dales, former Olympian and current sideline reporter for the NFL [8:04] “I believe that champions are made when nobody’s watching” and “confidence comes from demonstrated ability”. Stacey shares what both of these phrases mean to her and how her mindset training as an athlete informs her career today. [10:18] Stacey describes how she’s learned to embrace fear and shares her process for preparing her mind for high pressure assignments. [13:30] What’s an NFL reporter’s mental training routine like? From physical workouts, to memory hacks, and an intricate storytelling ritual, Stacey lets us in on her secrets to success. [16:25] We all self-sabotage. It’s human nature. But once you have awareness around all the ways you self-sabotage, you reclaim your power. [18:30] You can both expect greatness and expect that failure will happen. Learning to live with human imperfections and high expectations isn’t always easy, but learning to see your imperfections with grace can fuel greatness. [22:25] Stacey makes a case for simplicity; i.e. creating guidelines and routines that reflect your natural strengths and support the success you want to see in your life. [24:53] What are the most joyful moments of Stacey’s job? Her vulnerable answer includes the very real responsibility of telling other people’s stories and the pride she feels for being a woman in sports today. [27:40] Lindsey and Stacey chat about kindness, putting in the work, and always delivering early. And wrap up their episode by discussing Stacey’s next steps in work and life and the importance of self-grace. 561 | Lindsey's Life Update: 3 of My Favorite Things
Last fall, I recorded an episode all about 5 things that bring me joy. It was an outlier of an episode, and one that I had to be convinced to record, but I got a great response. Many of you told me that you enjoyed learning more about my personal life and what goes on behind the scenes as a mom and business owner. It’s been about a year since that episode, so I figured it was time for life update #2! This episode is centered around 3 things I’m into right now. As I chat about each one, some deeper themes come up, including: How creating things with your hands can make you feel empowered and safe How often the simplest way is the best way. How It can be hard to get back into something you were once great at - (and why the reward is worth the discomfort). If a life update isn’t what you’re looking for, go ahead and skip this episode. 558 | 360 Your Goals
Despite goal setting becoming super mainstream over the last decade, most of what you hear about it just barely scratches the surface. Sure, breaking down your goals, building vision boards, and learning to manifest is great, but what happens when you don’t feel like getting out of bed? What happens on weeks when you lose the spark and motivation to achieve your goals? Is the payoff of your goals really worth what it’s going to take to get there? When you rely on mainstream goal setting techniques you leave yourself vulnerable to all the real life shit that makes it hard for anyone, even the most disciplined people in the world, to make real, lasting change. So in today’s episode, we’re going to dig deep. We’ll talk about: Planning for discomfort (before you feel it) Emotional goals - and why they motivate your subconscious What it means to break down you goals into numbers (and why it matters) Negative visualization and the Worst Case Scenario exercise The #1 question you should ask yourself when you set a goal + So much more. If you have a big goal, whether that’s to start a business, make the Olympic team, or move out of the country, this episode breaks down 6 key questions that will give you the absolute best shot of taking your goal from a dream to a reality. Listen to the full episode for context, and come back to these 6 questions whenever you need them. 8 KEY QUESTIONS FOR GOAL SETTING Let’s say your goal is to get in shape, here’s how you might answer these 8 questions. #1. How will achieving this goal change your life? I’ll have more energy in the morning to play with my kids, I’ll feel strong and able to do the activities I love. It may help my mental health. #2. What is the (literal and figurative) cost of my goal? The cost of gym memberships, a workout program, and healthier groceries. The social cost of not going out for food and drinks as often. #3. What can I do to increase the likelihood of my success in this goal? Getting a trainer, planning ahead, getting friends on board, getting a babysitter, meal planning, joining a meal delivery service. #4:What are some numbers behind the goal? Are they realistic? # of hours I’ll work out every week, $ of a membership/training, # of months to achieve my goal, # on a scale. #5. What is the best case scenario and what is the worst case scenario? Will it be worth it either way? Best case is I hit my goal and I feel great! Worst is I try and don’t hit my goal, but I get closer to it, and I make some healthy changes along the way. #6. Who am I going to become in this process? I get to become the person who shows up for myself and works at what I want, I get to become someone who works hard even when I don’t feel like it. I get to become someone who sets an example for my athletes and my kids. #7. What will I need from others?I’ll need someone else to walk the dog so I can make a healthy breakfast, I’ll need someone else to make dinner so we don’t order out as much. I’ll need someone to pick up the kids so I can go to the gym. #8. What’s my plan when I get off course? When I get off course, I’ll journal about my goal and re-commit to it. I’ll reach out to my accountability buddy and schedule a workout. One of my coaches used to have this thing he called "The 5 Minute Rule". I come back to this rule anytime I don't want to do something. For example, when I'm feeling sluggish and don't want to work out, when I'm uninspired and don't want to work, or when I feel overwhelmed about cleaning my house. 555 | Solution Blindspots
Today I am diving into something called The Motivation Triad. The motivation triad basically says that your brain won’t waste energy on something that it doesn’t believe is going to work out. Now, this manifested in my own life recently in a silly way, where I was struggling to figure out a new app and gave up, not realizing the solution was right in front of me. And I see it manifesting in the lives of my students as they build their businesses. Honestly, you can see the effects of The Motivation Triad everywhere and in your own life, once you understand what it is. I highly recommend you listen to the full podcast, and remember this key takeaway: Before you decide to give up on something, whether it’s using a new app, or building a business, or working on any new skill, remind yourself to keep looking for a solution, even if one isn’t obvious right away. Because the second you stop looking for a solution, that’s the moment you stop being curious. And when you stop being curious, it’s over. your creativity will shut down and you’ll get stuck in your own blindspots. What makes you feel STRONG?What makes you feel powerful, like you can tackle anything, like you can take on the world? Personally, for me, it's exercise. Specifically, it's pushing myself by lifting heavy weights. It not only makes me feel strong, it makes me feel sane. Today on the podcast I'm challenging you to think about the thing that makes you feel strong and to make time to do it in your life more often. Maybe for you it's exercise, or maybe, it's a deep conversation with your partner, eating healthy, intentional alone time, learning a new skill, doing something that scares you, or taking time for self-care. For more on this, check out today's Mental Monday on the pod! _________________________Want a guided visualization you can use anywhere from your phone? 552 | The Simplest Mental Training Tool You Need NOW
When people ask me "What's the easiest way to get started with Mental Training?" The mistake ritual is one of the first tools I recommend. The Mistake Ritual is a lifeline for competitive athletes (and coaches). It's a way to center yourself in the middle of chaos - after a mistake, when the ref makes a bad call, when you're distracted by the weather or someone in the stands, etc. It's a very simple tool that can completely transform your mindset and your confidence in competition. In today's Mental Monday, I'm sharing a story about a time I used the Mistake Ritual (and it made a massive difference). I end the episode with a full breakdown about how this tool works, and why it is massively important (and how you can implement it)-------------------------Mistake Ritual Magic Workshop: This course is a 30 minute online video workshop that will prepare you with everything you need to teach your athletes how to bounce back from mistakes in competition: www.positiveperformancetraining.com/mistake-ritual Rate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts “I love Lindsey’s straight forward, realistic approach to motivation and living your best life.” <– If that sounds like you, we'd love for you to rate and review the podcast! 551 | Finding Opportunity with Positive Psychologist, Chris DeSantis
My interview earlier this year with Positive Psychologist, Chris DeSantis was such a goldmine that I immediately asked him to come present to our Insider Mastermind to teach them about positive psychology. In our first episode together, Chris introduced positive psychology, but we really just scratched the surface. I’m thrilled to say that this episode goes so much deeper and leaves you with so many actionable ways to better help your athletes. In this episode, Chris dives deep into his positive psychology philosophies. As the first person to get his advanced degree in Positive Psychology, he has a unique, valuable, even revolutionary perspective on just about everything related to mental training. Chris shares personal stories and examples of his coaching, and shows what it’s really like to take a client through negative visualization. He even shares the script he uses with athletes so that you can start using this tool right away in your own coaching practice. And since we were live on a coaching call with The Insider Mastermind, he answers loads of real questions from real mindset coaches. This episode is robust enough to listen to on it’s own, and is also a great follow up to our first interview together, so tune in and let me know on IG @lindseypositiveperform what you think of the episode! Follow Chris Website: https://chrisdcoach.com/Instagram: @chrisdcoach Resources: Download our free e-book: “How to Become a Mental Performance Coach”: This FREE, ultra-simple guide will show you how YOU can make mindset coaching your full-time career or part-time hustle. [3:30] Classical psychology asks, “What’s wrong here, and how do we fix it? Positive psychology asks “What is the situation, and where is the opportunity?” [6:06] Why do people practice visualization? Chris explains the value of visualization, and how it helps the human brain prepare for high stakes situations. [8:46] There are a lot of unwitting disciples of BF Skinner, The King of Behaviorism. Chris believes humans are more complex than these studies are able to measure. Chris talks about how behaviorism feeds oversimplified assumptions about visualization. [13:58] If your goal is to NOT think about something, you’ve set an impossible goal. Chris gives a “white bear” analogy that proves his point. [17:54] Chris describes what’s happening in your brain during fight or flight, and how he helps to coach swimmers through the “worst case scenario”. [20:15] Chris shares a specific example of working with an athlete and how he utilized negative visualization to help her move through her fears proactively. [24:53] Sharing personal examples, Chris talks about a situation with a swimmer, one challenge of working with young athletes, and the importance of keeping everything in perspective. [31:35] Bianca asks how Chris handles athletes who say “I don’t know” in response to his questions. Chris talks about his background in sports media and what it taught him about getting information out of athletes (like Michael Phelps). [34:59] Lindsey shares a different way she has used negative visualization as an athlete, and the way she teaches it today. [39:39] Lindsey and Chris discuss the role of negative visualization in calming the nervous system. Chris answers some questions from the group, starting with one student that asks if negative visualizations should be followed up with positive visualizations. [45:40] The Insider Mastermind students are challenged to come up with a metaphor to help athletes release feelings after going through a negative visualization. [47:36] Chris chats about his understanding of the relationship between Michael Phelps and his coach. A student asks how Chris finishes a negative visualization session with an athlete. Chris explains his intuitive approach, and relates to feeling nervous about using negative visualization as a coach. [51:39] Lindsey wraps up the episode with a quick chat about fear of failure, how to anticipate obstacles, and how anxiety can increase by ignoring the worst case scenario. Chris shares his contact information and plugs his podcast, The Swim Brief. NEGATIVE VISUALIZATION - SCRIPT Ask your athelte to sit

548 | #1 Way to Improve Your Coaching
How many times in your career have you really gotten support or structure to help you coach the mental game? You have athletes that struggle with confidence. You have athletes that get injured and have to be benched. You have athletes that get super nervous before games. This is a normal part of coaching, and a huge part of your job. And as a coach, I know you’re doing your best. So many of us try to solve problems as they come up, but, even with the best of intentions, this can create an unhealthy and overwhelming dynamic where athletes lean on us more than they should. If you feel like you are running around putting out fires, it’s time to set up a sprinkler system. It’s time to help your athletes help themselves! In today’s episode, I’m talking about the very real impact of coaching (which almost makes me tear up because it’s so freaking important). Most importantly, I am teaching you 6 foundational pieces to help you coach the mental game. What I teach in this episode has the power to transform and strengthen your team. These foundational tools will help your athletes to manage their own nerves, confidence, disappointment, etc. so that they are more empowered, and you are freed up to coach at a higher level. In case no one ever set you up for success with a mental training toolbox, I’m giving it to you today! You can read a bunch of books, and listen to podcasts, and google topics on the internet, AND still have no idea what to teach on a Tuesday afternoon. My goal for this episode is for you to walk away with an understanding of everything you need to coach the mental game. Because you deserve a system! Press play to get started! 545 | Mindset, Motherhood, and Moving Forward with Basketball Coach and Cancer Survivor, Brooke Wyckoff
I reconnected with my friend and colleague, Brooke Wyckoff, for what I thought would be a conversation about modern coaching, but ended up being a much deeper conversation about her battle with cancer. Brooke is a former professional basketball player, and current Head Coach at Florida State. Even through chemotherapy and a double mastectomy, Brooke did not let her diagnosis slow her down, and continued to lead her team. She is a badass and a pillar in her community, and her unwavering strength and positivity shines through in this episode. In this episode, we talk about: The emotional and mental challenges of being diagnosed How mindset work prepared Brooke to battle cancer How Brooke’s experience will influence the way she navigates coaching, parenthood, and life moving forward The foundational importance of team building - and how Brooke nurtures trust and closeness on her team. The vulnerability of asking for help, and how Brooke’s community stepped up. I’ve always been such a big fan of Brooke’s, and getting to dissect the mental and emotional components of what she’s been through, and for her to share her heart on this platform, is really powerful and such an honor. From someone who has faced the unthinkable and gone through it with so much grace, this episode offers a perspective shift that we can all benefit from. I know this episode will become a fast favorite! A huge thank you again to Brooke for coming on The MCA Podcast to share her story! [4:45] Through the lens of a competitor and a mom, Brooke shares what it was like to get diagnosed with cancer. She discusses the emotional journey and highlights her feelings of gratitude. [8:50] Sharing her cancer journey with her daughter was a challenge for Brooke. She talks about her and daughter’s emotions around chemo symptoms like losing her hair. Brooke explains how her symptoms reframed the way she thought about her age and her appearance. [16:16] Going through chemo as an athlete is incredibly challenging. Lindsey asks about how she handled feeling sick from chemo while coaching basketball. Brooke talks about how it helped her slow down and prioritize. [21:56] Lindsey asks, “How will this experience inform the way you handle things in the future?” Brooke talks about what she thinks her team missed out on with her limited coaching time, and how she plans to move that foundational piece forward this next year. [27:09] Brooke discusses the importance of building closeness on her team, and how she nurtures team building. [32:56] Being a public figure with an illness comes with its own unique challenges. Brooke shares about why she didn’t want to be public with her diagnosis, and the outpouring of love when she announced it. [37:03] You can’t go through cancer without a serious perspective shift. Brooke talks about her renewed gratitude for her family and how facing her mortality helped her focus on what really matters. Lindsey and Brooke discuss the vulnerability of asking for help. 542 | 3 Steps to Getting More Done in Chaotic Times
What can you do when you know your schedule is about to shift? Perhaps you’re about to go into a season of chaos like a job change, summer vacation, the holidays, starting a business, or going back to school. Or maybe you’re about to quit your job, take maternity leave, or go on vacation and you know you’ll suddenly have a lot of time off (maybe too much time). I’ve experienced both sides of this. As a former professional athlete and mom of 4, I will say, I’m much more comfortable with chaos than I am with days and days of free time. And when I don’t plan ahead and set myself up for success, I can come out of the other end feeling really s*****. If you are about to enter either a busy season without a plan, it’s really easy to end up in a shame cycle which can erode your confidence and make you feel like you don’t know how to manage your time. Planning ahead can totally change your experience and remind you that you are in control! This is a marathon, not a sprint. And you’ll find that it’s way easier to stay steady and keep the momentum going by planning ahead. Listen to the full episode for context, and come back to the 3 step outline below whenever you need it. Step 1: Fight for your time. Don’t let decisions get made for you. Q: What do I need to do to create space in my life this summer? Q: What would having that time mean to me?Q: How would it feel? Step 2: Commit to less than you think you can actually get done. And overcommit to those few things. i.e. Come hell or high water, I WILL do these 3 things. Q: What do you actually want/need to accomplish? Q: What do you need to do to make sure it gets done? Q: How will you mark your progress along the way? Q: How can you clarify the path forward for yourself? Step 3: Schedule mindset work. Your mindset work is the key to aligning your thoughts and your actions with what you want. Q: How will regular mindset work help you? Q: How will you feel at the end of this season when you’ve stuck to your plan? 539 | Accountability and Vulnerability with The Bodacious Brotherhood
I had the great pleasure of interviewing The Bodacious Brotherhood. The BB came together in The Mindset Coach Academy Certification when they were randomly assigned to the same small group. I always say that you “get out of the small group what you put into it”, and these men showed what’s possible when you cut the bullshit, get vulnerable, and put it all on the table. I first noticed this group had a special bond when they started calling each other out during our weekly big group calls. I knew I had to get this group of men on the podcast to talk about how they pushed past social norms to create this special group centered around radical honesty and vulnerability. In the episode, we cover: The key moment early on that defined their team culture How rare it is to have vulnerable male friendships Advice for men wanting to develop deeper relationships The massive ripple effect of accountability and support If you’re interested in joining The MCA Certification, see what’s possible! Take a peek inside one of the most valuable pieces of the program: The small groups!
