Work of Human Hands, Episode 13: The Communion Rite, Impiety in Action
In this episode Stephen Heiner and Father Anthony Cekada discuss Chapter 13 of Work of Human Hands, which is primarily about the Communion Rite. Father explains and discusses the changes in the Pater Noster and Libera Nos as well as familiar topics like Communion in the Hand and so-called "Extraordinary" Ministers of Communion. Father also discusses the blessing, dismissal, and ending of Mass, and what has been changed. Work of Human Hands, Episode 12: Deplorable Impoverishment (Part 2)
In this episode of Work of Human Hands Father Anthony Cekada finishes a discussion of Chapter 12 that began in the previous episode. Father examines in detail the elements that make up the new “Eucharistic Prayers” which were mostly contrived and have no roots in Christian tradition. He then goes on to look at the “institution narrative” as set up against the traditional words of consecration and concludes, using Magisterial teaching and sacramental theology, that the New Mass, even in the Latin, is invalid. Work of Human Hands, Episode 11: Deplorable Impoverishment (Part 1)
In this month's episode of Work of Human Hands host Stephen Heiner and guest Father Anthony Cekada tackle one of the longest and most important chapters in the book, Chapter 12, which addresses the Canon of the Mass. Father begins by addressing what a "canon" is, why the change to the term "eucharistic prayer" was so important, and then also speaks about the prefaces and the sanctus, the necessary bridge to the Canon from the Secret, which is where we finished our last episode. Father addresses the vileness with which the would-be reformers speak about the Roman Canon ("outdated," "superstitious," "folkloric," among other terms) and more importantly, why changing THIS part of the Mass was so very important. Work of Human Hands, Episode 10: Preparation of the Gifts, New Offerings
Father Anthony Cekada continues his monthly commentary on his bestselling work on the liturgy. This month we examine the "Preparation of the Gifts" - the replacement for the immemorial Offertory Prayers. If you want to learn the roots of the new "preparation of the gifts," the play-acting of the laymen who bring up "their" gifts, and the origins of the new and impoverished prayers, take a listen to this month's episode. Host Stephen Heiner speaks with Father about the changes in common with Luther, Pius XII's warnings in Mediator Dei, and how these changes perfectly prepare the faithful for what follows: the "Eucharistic Prayers." Work of Human Hands, Episode 9: Adroit Choices, Gigantic Voices
In this month's episode of Work of Human Hands we review Chapter 10 of Father Anthony Cekada's book: "Adroit Choices, Gigantic Voices." This chapter examines the new Lectionary in depth. We were supposed to get "more Scripture" but the reality is that we not only get a lot less Scripture through strategic editing ("adroit choice"), but we get the notion of "liturgy as classroom" (the "gigantic voice"). Gone is a consistent and thematic group of readings that can be counted on every season of the Liturgical Year, every year without fail. In its place is a set of stripped down readings, which unsurprisingly are missing the "negative theology" that the "reformers" so despise. If you are attending the Novus Ordo service, this is a great episode to listen to so you can understand yet another way you are being conned. Work of Human Hands, Episode 8: The New Orations
After a long winter's nap of nearly half a season, Work of Human Hands returns to the airwaves to finish its companion run to Father Anthony Cekada's recently back-in-print master study on the changes to the Mass brought on by the Second Vatican Council. In this episode host Stephen Heiner discusses Chapter 9 of Father's book, which was once, in large parts, a slim book called "Problems with the Prayers of the Modern Mass" that sold tens of thousands of copies when in print for TAN Books. This chapter (and episode) addresses the fact that 83% of these prayers were revised, and that not only the style but the content was revised, specifically the removal of: - "negative theology" - prayers for the dead - despising of the present world and life and mention of: - merits of the saints - miracles with new additions of: - ecumenism Should you wish to obtain a copy of Work of Human Hands to follow along, you may do so at SGG Resources: https://sggresources.org/products/work-of-human-hands-by-rev-anthony-cekada Original Air Date: May 7, 2015 Show Run Time: 1 hours 3 minutes Show Guest(s): Father Anthony Cekada Show Host(s): Stephen Heiner Season 4 Sponsor: Novus Ordo Watch http://novusordowatch.org/ Episode: https://www.truerestoration.org/season-4-work-of-human-hands-episode-8-the-new-orations/ Work of Human Hands: https://www.truerestoration.org/category/radio/work-of-human-hands/ Subscribe: https://www.truerestoration.org/member-signup/ Work of Human Hands℗ is a Production of the Restoration Radio Network. The Flagship Show, Episode 46: SSPX and Their New Imperfect Communion
In this flagship episode Father Anthony Cekada and Stephen Heiner discuss the announcement that the SSPX will receive faculties - confessions without concessions - as a part of the upcoming "Year of Mercy." Is this a brilliant move by Francis? What can the SSPX really do? How are their faithful reacting? Father and Stephen walk through these issues for all interested in the ongoing great drama of Econe. The Flagship Show, Episode 44: Williamson Watch
Our latest Flagship episode addresses a timely issue: a recent statement by Bishop Richard Williamson in a question and answer session in which he stated it was okay for a layman to attend the New Mass. Bishop Donald Sanborn and host Stephen Heiner discuss, in part, an article that Bishop Sanborn penned on the matter, as well as add personal reflections on the rather troubling musing of Bishop Williamson. The Flagship Show, Episode 42: Bishop Williamson Consecrates a New Bishop
On the 3rd anniversary of the establishment of Restoration Radio we welcome back Father Anthony Cekada to discuss the recent episcopal consecration of Jean-Michel Faure by His Excellency Bishop Richard Williamson. The new bishop was a classmate of Father Cekada's and was in his graduating class of ordinands. While Father Cekada shares some personal insights into this new bishop, he goes into the action taken and how it is situated within the Church law and teaching. Father also discussed the reactions of the SSPX, the Vatican, and various other media outlets while offering his own thoughts as to the significance of this action. Stephen Heiner is the host for this program which is provided free of charge by the Network in commemoration of its 3rd anniversary of existence. It was intentionally started on a major feast of Our Lady and we always thank her for her watchfulness over our apostolate. The Flagship Show, Episode 41: The Single Life
On this month's episode of the Flagship Show, we finally give some attention to a demographic of Catholics who seem to almost completely forgotten: the singles. What appears to be an ideal life to some is a misery to others, so why is this state of life so prevalent and so misunderstood at the same time? What are some of the underlying causes which have given us so many single men and women today in the traditional Catholic world? What are Catholics to do in this day and age to find a suitable marriage partner when so many of us live in isolation? We will discuss the importance of understanding the obligations of the single life and why it is so important to view it as a joyful time rather than a time of depression or despair. Father will give remedies for the despair and loneliness so often felt by those who find themselves single. We will also speak about understanding the single life viewed from the angle of a vocation - is it correct to call the single life a vocation? What about the consecrated single life? What signs should one be on the lookout for that would indicate to him that perhaps he should stay single or conversely, he should marry. What benefits do singles have that neither married nor religious enjoy? Further in the episode, we will discuss candidly the temptations which singles face and what those temptations may be telling the single man or woman. How does the single person combat those temptations and maintain a fervent spiritual life, which ironically, is something that seems to suffer due to having far too much time on one's hands? Join us as host Justin Soeder is accompanied by this month's guest, Father Stephen McKenna, assistant pastor of St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church and missionary priest to many mission chapels in the greater Midwestern United States, as they discuss the topic of the single life. Trad Controversies, Episode 7: Nuns and Funds, a Forgotten Past of the SSPV
On the first show in a new miniseries of Trad Controversies, His Excellency Bishop Daniel Dolan and Father Anthony Cekada join us to discuss SSPV's policy of forbidding parishioners to assist at the Masses of certain other traditional Catholic groups and clergy, and refusing sacraments to those who do. Father Clarence Kelly initiated this policy in 1989. In the more than twenty-five years that have passed since then, most traditional Catholics have the impression that the controversy originated in a dispute over the validity of sacraments conferred by Abp. Pierre-Martin Ngo-din-Thuc, or over associations with the CMRI (Congregation of Mary Immaculate) of Spokane, Washington. Most listeners will find it interesting to learn that what actually sparked the dispute and led to the SSPV policy to refuse sacraments had nothing whatsoever to do with either Abp. Thuc OR CMRI. These issues were tacked on later, well after Fr. Kelly first instituted his policy. Our purpose is not to attack anyone’s character, but only to help listeners — especially younger listeners – to understand why SSPV has retained its bitter and harsh position over the years in opposition to canon law, sound theology and the facts. We discuss the weaknesses of individuals only in order to provide the objective information necessary to form a complete picture of how SSPV’s disastrous policies really originated. The purpose of this series is to promote true charity among the small remnant of faithful Catholics, a charity that Our Lord Himself desires. We hope that this show, and the others that will follow, will help end, once and for all, a controversy which has affected, and in some cases destroyed, the peace and charity of so many families, homes and communities. Trad Controversies, Episode 6: In the Shadows Behind the Mask of the OSJ
The Military Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, the OSJ, is a historic religious order of the Catholic Church. As with all religious orders, the OSJ derives its jurisdiction directly from the pope and is not subject to the diocesan bishops. When the Vatican II revolution forced traditional priests to leave their dioceses, priests, desiring to serve the needs of the faithful who recognized the poison of the new religion, were still faced with the difficulty that they were not granted ordinary jurisdiction, for instance, to hear confessions. With the confusion of that time and unable or neglectful to study and explain how they received the required jurisdiction, priests of that time period grasped from anyway which sounded legitimate in order to acquire jurisdiction. One of these means was the organization called the OSJ founded here in America which held forth its hand as a means for these priests to have jurisdiction. Now while the OSJ has its headquarters in Rome and was still recognized as a legitimate Catholic Order, the American OSJ claims to be a separate branch of the order deriving its origin from the branch in Russia and independent of the Order in Rome. While being its claim to be a Catholic Order, if true, would give it ordinary jurisdiction separate from the diocesan structure, the OSJ in America also makes the extraordinary claim that it is only accountable to the Pope in faith and morals. This is but one of many extraordinary claims of this order. Father Anthony Cekada joins us again to discuss the research he did in the late 1970’s on the OSJ in Rome and the entity claiming to be the OSJ found here in the United States. As there are many pertinent concepts which pertain to other topics discussed in this episode, listeners will find the topic is still relevant today. Join us as we descend into the shadows to find out what lies behind the mask of the OSJ here in America. Trad Controversies, Episode 5: Anti-Sedevacantism: The Defense of the Indefensible
With the recent off the cuff comments and scandalous behavior from the current modernist pretender to the papal throne, Bergoglio, people who were entrenched in the "R and R," the position which recognizes these heretics still as lawful successors to St. Peter, have been forced to reexamine their position. In a furious attempt to stop this attempt of people beginning to rethink their position, which has degraded into a practical absurdity on its face, writers and publications who have dedicated themselves to the defense of the R&R position are desperately launching a flurry of articles against the Sedevacantist conclusion. Father Anthony Cekada joins us for another episode of Trad Controversies to discuss the basis for both of these two opinions and refute some of the more common objections to the Sedevacantist position. In a hope to shed some light on the faulty theology which has plagued the Traditional movement as a whole and become part of the seemingly endless book of Catholic mythology of today, Father Cekada with host James Schroepfer try to break down the two arguments to their very foundation. In this episode which is based off of a recent video Father Cekada did called Stuck in a Rut, Father reviews some of the inconsistencies found in the R&R position and shows why they are theological impossibilities. Basic definitions for such things as member of the Church, material heresy, public heretic are discussed to provide the listener with their classic definitions which often have been twisted or misapplied by modern writers. The second part of the show focuses on the new argument of the Sedevacantists which is Bergoglio, who was a public heretic prior to his election, never met the basic objective criteria to become pope in the first place. With the R&R position theologically on its death bed, Restoration Radio hopes this episode will provide a guiding light to those looking to find an opinion actually grounded in Catholic theology and doctrine. Trad Controversies, Episode 4: Masonic Bishops and Sacramental Intention
This month’s Trad Controversies returns with a new host, James Schroepfer, to examine the old legend of Archbishop Lefebvre’s orders being doubtful because the cleric who ordained and consecrated Archbishop Lefebvre, Cardinal Lienart, is said to be a Freemason. Unfortunately, this concept of a masonic bishop’s ordinations being doubtfully valid is still a prevalent idea in our day, and with many of the traditional priests coming from Archbishop Lefebvre, some of the Catholic laity have been quite disturbed with this assertion. Our regular guest Father Anthony Cekada joins us to give the background to the controversy and guide the listener through the sacramental theology which applies to this particular case. The show covers where the initial accusation of Cardinal Lienart being a Freemason and what proof is available to validate this claim. Tracing the sources back, Father is able to demonstrate the proof, or lack of, found to prove this assertion. Father then examines this from a worst case scenario point of view where the assumption of Cardinal Lienart being a Freemason is conceded, and walks us through the Catholic principles in regards to the intention of the minister. After exploring the relevant Sacramental theology, Father Cekada provides the listener with multiple historical examples of orders being conferred by documented Freemasons and how the Church viewed their validity. Hopefully, covering this material will help those listeners who have been disturbed by shoddy theology presented by lay people in the past or those who just enjoy a good campfire story for a dark night. Trad Controversies, Episode 3: The 1955 Changes to Holy Week
Ten years ago the questions behind the "Pius XII changes" to Holy Week (as they are so often called) seemed consigned to academia and the geeky liturgical fringe. However, as time has gone on, and as even many Motu groups have begun to take a serious and honest look at these changes, two questions have appeared: 1. Firstly, what were the changes to Holy Week? 2. What should Catholics do in light of both the Pius XII legislation and the current situation? Guest Father Anthony Cekada has researched this topic extensively and begins with the second question first, the legal question: if some Catholics consider Pius XII as the "last true pope" shouldn’t those Catholics obey his legislation? After examining that Father walks through Holy Week from Palm Sunday to Easter Vigil, explaining briefly the massive destruction wreaked on some of the most ancient ceremonies in the Roman Rite in the name of "Restoration" which we know the Novus Ordo sect uses in its most Orwellian sense. Many attendees of a 1958 or 1962 Mass don't realize that during one of the most special seasons of the year they are unwittingly participating in the Novus Ordo, for the liturgies that those attendees frequent during Holy Week are identical to those used in that sect. Host Stephen Heiner joins Father Anthony Cekada for this look at a topic that's very timely, given that Holy Week has just passed. Trad Controversies, Episode 2: The Una Cum Issue
Many Traditional Catholics, particularly since the advent of Jorge Bergoglio, have wondered how it is possible to pray "in union with" known heretics - be they "declared" or otherwise. But Catholics don't make decisions based on feelings; They base them on Church teaching and precedent. In this episode Father Anthony Cekada walks through what the "una cum" prayer is and why it is in the Canon, why we can not "opt out," remain silent, or "withhold consent" during that portion of the Mass, and the implications for naming a notorious heretic/apostate in that part of the Mass. If you are struggling with this issue or have never heard of it before, this is an episode that is well worth a listen. We never expect to "settle" a matter on Trad Controversies, but we do hope to put out some important points of reflection so that the Catholic of good will can go on to research and pray on his/her own to come to proper conclusions. Join us as host Stephen Heiner is accompanied by Father Anthony Cekada, Assistant Pastor of St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church in West Chester, Ohio as they discuss this deep issue on this month's episode of Trad Controversies. Trad Controversies, Episode 1: Home Alone
In this episode of Trad Controversies, Father Anthony Cekada addresses the "Home Alone" issue. "Home Alone" is a term that was coined by Father Cekada many years ago which describes this position held by a minority of Catholics which use proof texts from Canon Law to denounce Catholic priests currently living their lives as priests - providing sacraments and offering Mass - as doing something illicit and immoral and as such, they should not be approached for reception of the sacraments. As a result, those who hold this position choose to stay home and refuse to assist at Mass or receive sacraments from any validly ordained priest. While in the early days of the traditional Catholic movement, confusion about jurisdiction, the role of a diocese during a worldwide apostasy, and the proper application of epikeia could lead some to this position. In taking a serious look at the documents, Canon Law, and an appeal to basic Catholic sense should help most to overcome all of the objections of the "Home Alone" crowd. Join host Stephen Heiner as he asks Father Anthony Cekada, assistant pastor of St. Gertrude the Great Roman Catholic Church to explore the reasoning of "Home Aloners" and has Father explain why such a position cannot be considered a Catholic one. Trad Controversies, Episode 0: Why Can't We All Just Get Along
A new addition to Restoration Radio this season, Trad Controversies tackles controversial and sticky issues that Traditionalists often have to deal with either during or after their recognition that the Novus Ordo Sect is not the Catholic Church. In this introductory "zero" episode, host Stephen Heiner asks His Excellency, Bishop Daniel Dolan and Father Anthony Cekada why they think "trad controversies" occur in the first place and then go on to deconstruct a particular controversy from the 1990s in which some Catholic faithful were asked to sign a "loyalty oath" as a condition of receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. More than twenty years on, the clergy who were involved with this affair reflect on the matter then and now, and give those honestly searching for answers a template for how to examine other trad controversies that we will deal with this season. This is Catholicism, Episode 6: On the Three Divine Persons
This month on This is Catholicism, we welcome guest Father Nicolás Despósito and host Father Germán Fliess, seminary professors at Most Holy Trinity Seminary in Brooksville, Florida. On the Three Divine Persons: The doctrine of the Most Holy Trinity is most important; for it is the principal and fundamental doctrine of Christianity, insomuch that to reject it would be to deny the Christian Faith. On the Creation and Government of the World: God created, made out of nothing — the whole world, the heavens and the earth, and all that is in them. A Complete Catechism of the Catholic Religion by Father Joseph Deharbe, S.J. was originally written in German, was very popular in the 19th century, and was translated into English. Bishop Donald Sanborn finds the Deharbe Catechism to be the most complete to convert and instruct people in the Catholic Faith. Part I On Faith (continued) Chapter II. Chief Truths of Faith The First Article 'I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.’ Continuation: § 2. On the Three Divine Persons. 'I believe in God the Father.' 33. Why do we say, ‘I believe in God the "Father"’? 34. How many Persons are, then, in God? 35. Is each one of the three Persons God? 36. Why are the three Persons but one God? 37. Is any one of these Persons older, or more powerful, than the others? 38. Is there, then, no distinction at all between the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost? 39. How are the three Divine Persons distinct from one another? 40. But if the Son is begotten of the Father, and the Holy Ghost proceeds from both, why, then, is none of the Divine Persons older than the others? 41. Why is the Father called the 'first,' the Son the 'second,' and the Holy Ghost the 'third' Person? 42. What works are principally attributed to each of the three Divine Persons? 43. What do we call the mystery of one God in three Persons? 44. Can we comprehend this mystery? 45. Is the doctrine of the Most Holy Trinity also important to us? § 3. On the Creation and Government of the World. 'Creator of Heaven and earth.' 46. Why is God called 'Creator of Heaven and earth'? 47. How has God created the whole world? 48. Did God create the world because He needed it? 49. If God needs nothing besides Himself, why did He create other beings? 50. Did, then, God create the world for His creatures? 51. What does God still do, that the world which He has created may not return into its original nothing? 52. How does God preserve the world? 53. How does God govern the world? 54. What do we call this supreme care of God in preserving and governing the world? 55. But if God orders and directs all things in the world, why, then, is there so much evil done? Does He will it? 56. And if God takes care of all things, why are we subject to so many sufferings? 57. But why does God often permit the wicked to prosper, whilst evil befalls the good? 58. How ought we to receive the sufferings that come upon us? Episode Notes: The text is available in the public domain for free online as a PDF. Are we certain of the truths which the Church teaches? 14. Have not the Protestant sects also received their doctrine from Christ Himself, and preserved it uncorrupted? 15. What, therefore, must the Catholic believe? 16. By what sinful act is faith lost? 17. How is faith regained if it has been lost? 18. If, then, the true faith is essentially necessary to salvation, and the Catholic faith is the only true one, is it not a great grace to be a Catholic Christian? In this episode Bishop Donald Sanborn discusses the Jewish Nation and religion, and its role at the beginning of Christendom, throughout the Middle Ages, post French Revolution, and present day. Christianity has roots in Judaism so the question of Jews and their role in salvation history can often get lost in an age which looks for hatred, insults, and antisemitism under every rock and crevice. This episode doesn't engage in the standard hatred very much on offer in various parts of the world towards those who were formerly God's chosen people, but rather looks at the facts, often using the words of prominent and leading Jews to frame and understand the discussion. Root of the Rot, Episode 11: Paul VI, the pre-Bergoglio
In this month’s episode of The Root of the Rot, Bishop Donald Sanborn analyzes numerous quotes of Paul VI in the light of Catholicism. As it turns out, in the pre-internet era, Paul VI made many shocking statements that were simply not caught and analyzed. In his words and deeds Paul VI led the "revolution in tiara and cope" and paved the way, and probably in many ways, inspired men like Jorge Bergoglio. Find out what Paul VI said and what true Popes of the Catholic Church have said in direct opposition to him. Root of the Rot, Episode 10: Proto-Ecumenical Movements and Their Champions
This month on The Root of the Rot, host Stephen Heiner and guest Bishop Donald Sanborn discuss various programs to water down Catholicism, all in the 20th century and all before Vatican II. These programs all work within the new "religion" of Humanitarianism, which has as its two central doctrines the denial of a transcendent God and the affirmation of an immanent God. Humanitarianism seeks to achieve its goals by transforming existing religions so that they profess the same creed by setting aside doctrinal and dogmatic differences. The Universal Brotherhood of Humanity beckons. Learn more about how Catholicism turns its back on such nonsense. Root of the Rot, Episode 9: Secularism Rising and the End of the Catholic Order
The Root of the Rot returns to the air with fill-in guest, His Excellency Bishop Donald Sanborn. This episode focuses on three aspects of the 1870-1920 period: the secularization of society, the final overthrow of the last vestiges of Catholic social order, and the beginnings of the new world order rising to replace the Catholic old order that had been destroyed. Root of the Rot, Episode 8: Institutionalizing the Revolution
The Root of the Rot returns to the airwaves this month as His Excellency, Bishop Daniel Dolan and host Stephen Heiner try to clarify where our modern problems originated. This episode focuses on the years between 1866 and 1905, years in which Italy was unified (by stealing the Papal States from the Holy Father, and ultimately, from all Catholics), Germany was unified (at a massive cultural cost to Catholics), and France underwent ongoing aftershocks of the effect of murdering their king and overthrowing God. The bishop delves deeper into how these issues influenced American immigrants at this time, who very much wanted to be "accepted" in their new, Protestant-majority country. If you want to continue your education on the bigger issues that inform the doctrinal problems that plague us now, listen to this episode! The Catholic Home, Episode 11: Advent and Christmas Customs
To bring about the Restoration, we must simultaneously reject the modern culture. Yet, can we Catholics resist the trappings and enticements of these seemingly-inescapable worldly-influences, such as the continually expanding list of secular “holi-days” and other substitutes for religious services and customs, if we haven’t already a strong and integrated Catholic life, rich with meaningful practices? How about our children who are growing up with these counterfeit, “religion of Man” customs already well established and all around them? Nature abhors a vacuum, so we must ensure that we fill our lives, and those of our children, with the beautiful and sanctifying customs that God has intended for His children to cherish, and through which we thrive. Otherwise, we will seek to fill that void with these manifold Satanic imitations. Let our Australian guest, Camille, enlighten your start to the Liturgical Year with her presentation of many traditional Advent customs. Then spice up your Christmas with an abundance of enriching customs from her wonderful suggestions. Episode Notes: - Msgr. The Catholic Home, Episode 10: The Battle For Your Child's Soul (Part 3)
**PARENTAL WARNING: Parts of this episode are unsuitable for children** This final episode closes out our series with guests, Jacinta and Louise, exposing the main problems with children’s movies and TV. The assessments of other seemingly harmless movies will also prove very eye-opening. From these ladies’ insightful analyses, it is established that some of these problems are unbelievably grave and exceedingly disturbing. However, this doesn't mean we have to all literally throw out the DVD player because there is some suitable material available. For those who want to utilize this medium we provide some examples of what we consider safe and good. For those who have made the decision to entirely avoid screen-viewing, we do not wish to entice you to go back on this decision because of a handful of exceptions. Rather, we commend you on a choice which is undoubtedly much wiser than the majority alternative of virtually carte blanche movie-viewing limited only by a ratings system which has no basis whatsoever on Catholic morality. Brace yourself to be shocked further at the incredibly horrible messages being systematically taught to today’s youth via the mainstream media! The Catholic Home, Episode 9: The Battle For Your Child's Soul (Part 2)
**PARENTAL WARNING: Parts of this episode are unsuitable for children** The devil is trying to snatch the souls of our children. He poisons their minds and hearts in any way possible, targeting them at the youngest possible age. One of his greatest instruments of corruption in our times is the entertainment industry, including TV, movies, computer games and mainstream popular music. This series focuses mainly on the film industry to aid parents in discerning good from evil in productions marketed primarily to children. Last month, guests Louise and Jacinta, totally exploded the myth about Disney productions being safe children’s fare. For today’s episode, they braved Pixar’s, “Brave,” turned “Inside Out” inside out and “knocked for a six” Disney’s,“Big Hero 6” – so none of these come out smelling like roses, either! Children’s entertainment, in general, is also discussed whilst these Mums share some invaluable insights and suggestions. The Catholic Home, Episode 8: The Battle For Your Child's Soul (Part 1)
**PARENTAL WARNING: Parts of this episode are unsuitable for children** Navigating our families through the dangerous waters of modern mainstream media, in particular TV and movies, is an ongoing challenge, as any parent of young children knows. In this series our hostess, Theresa, welcomes back Catholic Mums, Louise and Jacinta, who outline some basic principles and guidelines to aid parents in managing this form of entertainment. The general features of the overall field of mainstream children's movies and TV are also discussed. For starters, two recent children's Disney movies are analysed in-depth to demonstrate some of the key issues to be on guard for. The Catholic Home, Episode 7: The Holy Face Devotion
"The Work of Reparation" – Defenders of the Holy Name Devotions – which are expressions of true devotion - are the foundation of every Catholic home. In this show, Veronica explains why this particular devotion is so critical for our current crisis, and how it came into being in its current form. The Holy Face devotion is the union, and representation, of all the devotions pertaining to the Sacred Humanity of Christ. Therefore, it is an especial antidote for the disfigurement of the human image in these times, as well as the making of the human image into an idol. Did you know that there was a public miracle associated with Saint Veronica’s veil in 1849, in Saint Peter’s Basilica, when Our Lord’s Face became very distinct, that lasted for three hours? Did you know that this devotion has received three Papal Approbations, and Indulgences granted by Pope Leo XIII, during the 1800’s? Did you know this “Work of Reparation,” being an integral part of the Holy Face devotion, was said by Our Lord in private revelation to be, His chosen instrument for the defeat of the revolutionary men of this age? Did you know that devotion to the Holy Face is associated with countless miracles, and that it has many wonderful promises associated with it? Even if you already know about the Holy Face and are a confraternity member, this show will encourage you to foster a deeper understanding and love for the Holy Face of Jesus - and will inspire you with more zeal for the spread of this monumental work. For those who are not aware of this devotion, you will surely succumb to the irresistible appeal of Our Divine Lord’s Holy Face which has been so disfigured by sin – both our own sins and all the sins of the world - especially those sins of modern times that offend God the most. "Rejoice, My Daughter, because the hour approaches when the most beautiful work under the sun will be born." The Catholic Home, Episode 6: Health and Healing with Herbs
Saint Hildegard Von Bingen writes in Causae et Curae: “It happens that certain men suffer diverse illnesses. This comes from the phlegm which is superabundant within them. For if man had remained in paradise, he would not have had the flegmata within his body, from which many evils proceed, but his flesh would have been whole and without dark humor [livor]. However, because he consented to evil and relinquished good, he was made into a likeness of the earth, which produces good and useful herbs, as well as bad and useless ones, and which has in itself both good and evil moistures.” In this episode of The Catholic Home we welcome Jacinta and Stephen Mocko of Eureka Wellness, Australia, who share some of their specialized knowledge as to which herbs are good and useful for various ailments. There is no need to be victim to the “mainstream medical paradigm” with all its harmful side-effects given God has provided us a wealth of plants for our food and our medicine! As an introduction to the subject of herbal medicine, we aim to share a few extremely-effective herbal-remedies for the more common health challenges that tend to arise. It is our hope that in addition to providing some immediately useful knowledge, that you will be inspired to expand and build up a comprehensive natural-medicine arsenal in your own home, for the benefit of your own family and your local Catholic community. If you haven't experienced success in your attempts at utilizing herbs for healing, in this episode you will find out the reason why this may be the case. You will also learn how to render “the common cold” no longer common for you, treat bee stings even for the most allergic, and hear a few other secrets from the experts. The Catholic Home, Episode 5: Establishing and Maintaining Catholic Homes - Part 2
In Part 1 we heard all about two Australians' "theological travels" which eventually led them into the true fold and into a mission locality to boot. Wow! What an adventure that was! The exciting journey continues as Phil explains some of the amazing resources his family uses regularly to fulfill the various duties in the Catholic home and how his wife accepted the challenge to take their children out of the "Recognize and Resist" school in order to home-school them, and thus provide a proper Catholic education. Louise's family do things a little bit differently, and she has some delightful insights and ideas of how to make the home vibrant, and one's family flourish, in the fullness of our beautiful and rich Faith! Louise even puts the hostess, Theresa, on the spot and assumes the interviewer's role towards the end. There is talk about the pioneering days in setting up the Australian Catholic mission, some amusing incidents that go part and parcel with such an endeavour - and German chocolate even gets a mention. The battle for souls continues in the antipodean mission and so does our trio's chat. Please do enjoy! The Catholic Home, Episode 4: Establishing and Maintaining Catholic Homes - Part 1
In our times, many mission countries are without permanent parishes and priests since the enemies of the Christ have torn down most of the external support structures of His One, True Church. Rest assured, however, that God has provided us a whole new host of wonderful supports in their place! Despite the grim world-situation, we faithful Catholics really do have very many things with which to be very grateful, and we definitely haven't been left as orphans! Coming to you from Australia, this episode of The Catholic Home will fascinate you as two Australian Catholics share their conversion stories. Their journeys eventually resulted in them also abandoning the seemingly "traditional" external support structures they were in, thrusting themselves apparently, "into the wilderness". You will also be inspired and encouraged as they share the various ways by which they have successfully managed to establish their homes and families as Catholic, through and through, without any of the support systems of a parish church nor associated school. Theresa our new hostess, will sit down with Louise and Phil for a fireside chat. Be motivated as Louise gets passionate and gives full opposition to the Modernist "Robber Church" in all its manifestations, and as Phil enthusiastically shares the details of his travels from beginning in a Protestant-like cult to eventually being led into the Promised Land of Catholicism. Our guests also touch upon the various, marvelous recourses and fabulous resources that Divine Providence has so generously given their families, and indeed all of us, as an antidote to the perverse modern "culture." Three Catholic parents on fire for the Faith, get together armed with prayers, books and cuppas. Look out! We all know what this recipe can produce! So, all of you Catholic parents, Godparents, Grandparents, valiant men and women, young and old, settle in with your cuppas and find out what those from "the Land down under" are doing in the tremendous battle for the salvation of souls and the Restoration of Holy Mother Church.
