Work of Human Hands, Episode 11: Deplorable Impoverishment (Part 1)

In this month's episode of Work of Human Hands host Stephen Heiner and guest Father Anthony Cekada tackle one of the longest and most important chapters in the book, Chapter 12, which addresses the Canon of the Mass. Father begins by addressing what a "canon" is, why the change to the term "eucharistic prayer" was so important, and then also speaks about the prefaces and the sanctus, the necessary bridge to the Canon from the Secret, which is where we finished our last episode. Father addresses the vileness with which the would-be reformers speak about the Roman Canon ("outdated," "superstitious," "folkloric," among other terms) and more importantly, why changing THIS part of the Mass was so very important.
