Ep 383Supporting Clients Through the Process w/ Nathan Harris

Today on the podcast Jim and Tyson sat down with Nathan Harris. Nathan has been focused on helping people in the Hispanic community in Alabama for most of his life. His mother is from the tiny Spanish speaking country of Ecuador in South America and met his father while he was stationed in the peace corps in Ecuador in the 1970’s. After Mr. Harris’ parents were married in Ecuador, they moved to this country, the country of opportunity. Mr. Harris was born shortly thereafter and took advantage of this opportunity granted to him by going to law school at the University of Alabama. Mr. Harris opened the firm in 2010, which eventually became Abogados Centro Legal, by building trust, fighting hard, and taking advantage of opportunity.Today, Abogados Centro Legal is still helping Hispanic folks solve their legal problems in the following areas: serious injuries, car wrecks, accidents, overtime and minimum wage disputes, and immigration. Our Hispanic clients rarely feel comfortable with the U.S. legal system at first; but our firm, being fully bilingual and bicultural, is able to better relate to the Hispanic community and set our clients at ease during these stressful situations. All people, including undocumented immigrants, have rights and access to justice. Everyone who has been injured, through no fault of their own, has the right to seek justice in the form of a jury trial in a court of law. We assist our clients in telling their stories and fighting for the justice they deserve. We also assist other attorneys to navigate the complex issues that arise in civil cases involving Hispanic clients.3:20 learning from experience3:53 buying a firm5:44 marketing to a niche clientele9:54 finding the right people16:12 marketing in Spanish 17:28 getting rid of a practice area18:53 direct referrals20:20 helping clients 100% through the process 22:08 can’t be too serious with yourself Jim’s Hack: Steven Levitt’s Book: Freakanomics or watch the TED talk: The freakonomics of McDonalds vs. drugsNathan’s Tip: Listen to the Maximum Lawyer podcast!Tyson’s Tip: Try out Finilize for personal accountability!Get yourself an all access pass to Lorman.com to give your staff courses to learn at their own pace. Ep 376Active Reporting w/ Nick Mahurin and Dean Whalen

Today on the podcast Tyson sat down with MaxLawCon 2021 co-title sponsor Readback Active Reporting. The market insights are almost obvious, but the solutions have been evasive. The shortage of court reporters has been well known for many years. The shortage was acute prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, and it’s getting worse. Reporters are in an enviable position of enjoying strong demand for their services, but that doesn’t provide an incentive to innovate.Additionally, attorneys and clients have been growing increasingly frustrated with escalating costs – especially the add-ons. There are fees per page, fees for copies, fees for rough copies, fees for rushing, fees for appearing, and on and on.Finally, elite litigators were gladly paying much higher fees for real-time reporting in which they could see the transcript as the steno operator worked. We learned that they were getting an advantage, and we wanted to figure out how to deliver a similarly powerful experience to everyone. Tune in to this episode to learn how they’ve done just that. https://www.readback.legalWatch the interview here.Subscribe to our YouTube channel so you never miss an interview, presentation or training! We only get one go through this life, might as well spend it having fun with those you love.8:56 running two businesses11:12 personal branding 12:50 implementing systems14:56 marketing for growth 20:08 from a different angle Jim’s Hack: Do you have enough space to make decisions? Ep 371An Opposite Approach w/ Jesse Cole

Today on the podcast Jim and Tyson joined Jesse Cole. Jesse is known as the PT Barnum of Baseball, Cole is the founder of Fans First Entertainment and Owner of the Savannah Bananas baseball team. The Savannah Bananas have sold out every game since the 2016 season, have a waitlist in the thousands for tickets and have been featured nationally by MSNBC, CNN, CBS and ESPN. Cole has turned the games into a circus with dancing players, the Banana Pep Band, the Banana Nanas senior citizen dance team, The Man-Nanas Dad Bod Cheerleading Squad, the Banana Baby, and the famous break dancing first base coach. Cole believes "Whatever is normal, do the exact opposite." He is a keynote speaker and author of Find Your Yellow Tux - How to Be Successful by Standing Out. His newest Book Fans First, Change the Game, Break the Rules & Create an Unforgettable Experience launches in January 2022. Jim’s Hack: Think real hard before letting someone go back to an old job if they've tried something new. It's not great, but I think you're going to be better off in the long run because it's sort of either up or out. It's as hard to get them to fit back into their old role.Jesse’s Tip: Walt Disney always said we're always going to plus the show. We're always going to plus this theme park. It's a living breathing thing. And the plus is just continuous improvement. He wanted people to always get more and expect more. And so, we talk to our team, “How are we going to plus the experience today? How are we going to plus this promotion?” And when you look at every area of your business and look at a way to plus it, it's pretty amazing the results that come from it.Tyson’s Tip: Break down every stage of the process for the firm when it comes to the client. We went through the entire client journey. But we just asked these questions, ”What's the client currently doing at that point in the case? So, what's the client doing? What's the client thinking? What and who do they interact with? What is the client feeling? And then, what needs to be done?” We broke down each of these things. After that, we did opportunities. What can we do that no one else is doing? So, I highly recommend going through that with your team. So, break down the entire process for the client. And then, at each phase, answer those questions. You know, go a long way. And then, ask the question, “How do you plus it?” because we're going to add that to our questions. “How do we then plus it?” Because I really do think that that is the magic question.Watch the interview here.Subscribe to our YouTube channel so you never miss an interview, presentation or training! Stay ConnectedPodcastInstagram FacebookYouTubeLinedInJim’s Hack: I think that we either need to do a lot more prep the night before to get ready for the next day. But if you're running out the door-- I did that one day this week, I overslept because I've been up late, and it just changed the whole trajectory of my day. So, for me, getting up, meditating, reading something of value, trying to journal, I just can't recommend that enough. David’s Tip: Take one client and double your prices and actually do it because if you see yourself do it, if you give yourself the experience, it will shatter your belief system around what's possible. It can be done in any industry with any client.Tyson’s Tip: Heropost. They have a limited time offer where, for lifetime, it’s $197. But Ideal Team Player is the one that I think people should use.Tyson’s Tip: Finilize, a really cool productivity tool that takes in that concept that Jason Selk teaches where you pick your top number of things for the day.
