Ep 548Mastering the Top 3: How to Set and Execute Your Most Impactful Goals

Do you have a habit that affects your daily productivity and performance? In this episode, Tyson discusses the approach to getting things done by focusing on the top three tasks for the day. It is perfect for those who have busy work days and need to keep their heads down with no distractions.Tyson suggests writing down the top three most important tasks each day, focusing on those that will have the greatest impact on your goals. But why only three goals? Why not five or ten? Having a long list of daily tasks means all of them are not important. This approach is about finding the balance and narrowing down your priorities to a select few.Think about your long term goals and what daily actions will lead you to achieving them. For those in the legal field who want to grow their firm, tasks might be reaching out to referral partners or working on a high profile case. It is all about figuring out your vision and then tying critical goals to it.Create space in your day to focus on these important tasks. One great way is to knock them out at the beginning of your day. Block time in your calendar and mute your emails and notifications so you are not distracted. That way they are complete and you can go about your day doing other things.Achieving your goals through focusing on 3 tasks is a mindset that will only lead to greater success. This approach will create momentum and boost productivity.Take a listen!1:15 Tyson discusses the concept of focusing on the top three tasks for the day and how it can significantly impact productivity and performance.5:15 Tyson explains the importance of executing the top three tasks and how it sets you up for a successful day and boosts productivity.07:07 Tyson discusses common mistakes in choosing tasks and emphasizes that mastering the top three tasks is not just a productivity hack, but a mindset of knowing what matters most.🎥 Watch the full video on YouTube here. https://youtu.be/nY0-nM6H6XI Resources:Join the Guild MembershipSubscribe to the Maximum Lawyer Youtube ChannelFollow us on InstagramJoin the Facebook GroupFollow the Facebook PageFollow us on LinkedIn

Ep 515How to Use 'Red, Yellow, Green' to Check in on Employee Well-being

Look no further than the "red yellow green" system!Jim and Tyson, hosts of the Maximum Lawyer Podcast, discuss the benefits of this simple yet effective tool. By rating yourself on a scale of red (over capacity and stressed), yellow (pulled in several directions), or green (everything is good), you can communicate your current state to your team without feeling the need to filter or explain. One of the real powers of the system is the pause between when the question is asked and when the employee answers. It allows for a revealing question and answer into what's going on in their life if they choose to share. This system helps reveal problems in the machine and helps leaders address issues quickly. The hosts emphasize the importance of digging deeper if someone reports being in the red, and checking in on their well-being outside of work as well. Ep 513The Stress of Practicing Law: How it Affects Attorneys' Mental Health

As a lawyer, the pressure to succeed and maintain a certain level of professionalism can be overwhelming. The recent suicide of a fellow attorney who was publicly called out in a Facebook group for being disbarred is a stark reminder of the need for mental health awareness and self-care in the legal profession. In addition to the stress of practicing law, running a law firm, and paying off student debt, it's important to recognize the need to charge a fair price for legal services to avoid undervaluing one's services. But what about the adversarial nature of the profession? Why do attorneys feel the need to be so aggressive towards each other? It's important to resist the urge to pass on negative information about other attorneys and instead reach out with kindness and support. At the end of the day, mental health and fairness should be at the forefront of every legal practice. Let's strive for growth and success while also taking care of ourselves and each other.04:30 How suicide can be prevented by reaching out to those in need.08:58 The differences in how each state handles bar complaints and the surprising automatic bar complaint for malpractice10:19 Undervaluing one's worth, and the importance of making a viable living19:50 Being kind and supportive to fellow attorneys, even if they have been disbarred or suspendedJim’s Hack: Book by Dr. Ben Hardy and Dan Sullivan 10x Is Easier than 2x: How World-Class Entrepreneurs Achieve More by Doing LessTyson’s Tip: Be kind to each other. Ep 502Managing Client Expectations to Create Raving Fans

Building a firm and starting a firm is not easy! But what Bill is going to cover today is easy. It's easy to learn. It's easy to do. And it will have a disproportionate positive impact on your business. The reason this stuff works is that it goes to the core of any successful business, which is client happiness! That is at the core — If your clients are happy, they will go out and rave about your business and any people they talk to.If those people need help in the same area in the future, they are the easiest leads to convert. Let’s think about client happiness in a different way. There are two components to client happiness.ObjectiveClient expectationsThis and more is what our podcast guest Bill Farias talks about today in this throwback MaxLawCon 22 presentation. Ep 501Should Your Law Firm Run Without You?

Is it realistic for a law firm owner to strive for a law firm that runs without them? Jim and Tyson have changed their thinking around this topic of a law firm owner working towards the goal of being only in the owners box. Is this possible? It’s an interesting idea, however, we don’t think it's really possible for a law firm owner to be in the owners box only and run a highly successful firm that you can scale. You probably could get most of the way there, but the nature of what we do requires that we be deeply integrated into the firm. There are some exceptions but not many in today's world, and we don't think it's realistic to expect that you are going to be in the owners box and be able to just let the firm run itself. This and more is what Tyson and Jim discuss in today’s episode.
