MLB has dropped the official Minor League All-Star teams, MVPs, and Pitchers of the Year for each league within the minors, as voted on by the minor league managers. On today's Farm Friday, we're checking in on the Oakland Athletics! Daniel Susac (#3) is one of many well-regarded catchers in this system, and he spent time in Single-A Stockton after the draft with TJ rehabee Gunner Hoglund (#10), who was moved from Toronto in the Matt Chapman deal. High-A Lansing, the Lugnuts, saw MLB's other Max Muncy (#6), this one an infielder from the 2021 MLB draft, spend time with the club. Double-A Midland features some good pitchers who had injuries and bad numbers this season in RHPs JT Ginn (#8) and Ryan Cusick (#13), who are both spending time in the Arizona Fall League to make up some innings. Triple-A Las Vegas has yet another well-regarded catcher in Tyler Soderstrom (#1), but he played more first base this season than catching and a decision needs to be made soon about his defensive home. He took throws from SS Zack Gelof (#4), who hits to all fields but had higher than ideal strikeouts due to chasing breaking stuff and is going to the AFL to work on it. On today's show, we've looking at two-way players in the minor leagues. On Saturday, Los Angeles Angels pitcher Shohei Ohtani threw a 101 mph pitch and had a batted ball with an 106 exit velo. Is there anybody in the minor leagues that could possibly do both of those things in the same game? We look at four possibilities: SS Masyn Winn of the St. Louis Cardinals, RHP/DH Bubba Chandler of the Pittsburgh Pirates, RHP Hunter Greene of the Cincinnati Reds. and 1B/LHP Reggie Crawford of the San Francisco Giants. Some of these guys actually got into the bigs this year, like OF Esteury Ruiz of the Milwaukee Brewers and 2B Michael Massey of the Kansas City Royals. Some of them have an outstanding tool and answered a question about the rest of the package, like 2B Edouard Julien of the Minnesota Twins and OF Justin Durden of the Houston Astros. 2B Lenyn Sosa of the Chicago White Sox scuffled a bit in his first taste of the bigs, but will have more chances. OF Dominic Fletcher of the Arizona Diamondbacks is going to complicate the already crowded outfield depth chart for the Snakes.
