He was on scene at the notorious Laughlin River Run Riot. When the Hells Angels and the Mongols motorcycle clubs exploded on each other on April 27, 2002, in Laughlin, Nevada. One Mongol was stabbed to death, and two Hells Angels were shot to death. There were numerous others injured. Filmmaker Saw PTSD Trauma Problem For First Responders, Now It’s His Passion. While filming a documentary about the Opioid problem he accidentally learned how widespread and devastating P.T.S.D. is for our Country’s First Responders. This inspired his film PTSD911 and his mission to raise awareness and create change. Filmmaker Conrad Weaver joins us for a special episode of the Law Enforcement Today Radio Show and Podcast. As a young child, Mr. Pham witnessed his parents sacrifice tremendously to rebuild their lives in a new and wonderful country. In 1985, the Phams were rewarded with their naturalized citizenship. Mr. Pham watched his parents work relentlessly as laborers to support a family and to put him through school at the College of William and Mary and then the University of Richmond School of Law. In 2020, Mr. Pham was appointed Principal Legal Advisor for ICE and later that year was named Acting Director of ICE later that year. In his capacity as Acting Director of ICE, Mr. Pham worked to ensure that the nation’s immigration laws were enforced in so-called sanctuary jurisdictions that harbor criminal aliens. Police Officer's Career Ending Injury. Her New Life After. A Line of Duty Injury Ended Her Beloved Police Career. Which Led To Owning and Operating Her Own Business. A routine arrest led to permanent injury that led to retirement from her police career. She talks about how much she loved the job, the retirement process and shocking challenges she faces from the local government. Robin Wallace is a medically retired Jacksonville, NC Police Officer. During a routine arrest, that involved physical resisting from the suspect she and her partner were injured. While her partner appeared to recover normally, it became apparent that one of her arms suffered significant injuries. Robin talks about how delays and bureaucratic procedures led to delays in her medical care, which led to surgery and limited use of her arm. She discusses the end of the career that she loved, the difficulties she faced from the City government and her forced transition into opening her own business. Murder of his Police Officer Father While he was in the Academy. He tells the story of the murder of Patrolman Harold Edgington, his Father. How it impacted his family and his police career. After retiring from police work, he took his experience to war torn Countries. All of which inspired his book. Gary Edgington is a retired law enforcement officer. He has worked for the Manhattan Beach Police Department, the Beverly Hills Police Department, and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. He was appointed a Special Agent with the California Department of Justice. He worked major narcotics cases, organized crime, unsolved homicide, and more. While in his third week of the LA Sheriff’s Academy his Father, Police Patrolman Harold L. Edgington was stabbed to death by a deranged man while issuing a parking citation. Even though he was mortally wounded by the stab wound, his Father, Patrolman Edgington was able to shoot the subject in the hip as the man fled. A bystander who witnessed the incident used Patrolman Edgington's motorcycle radio to call for assistance. Other responding officers shot and killed the suspect as he threatened them with the knife used to kill his Father. She and Police Corporal Jacain Colson were engaged to be married. Jacai was working as an undercover police officer and had driven to the police headquarters building to bring her some food. Mirian was working when a call came out for an active shooter at the P.G. County Police Building, where Jacai Colson was waiting to meet her. The suspect began shooting at the police station, and passing vehicles before being engaged by responding officers. Corporal Colson, who was in plainclothes, engaged the shooter, allowing the other officers to seek cover. Corporal Colson was inadvertently struck by a round fired by one of the other officers. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced. She arrived at the scene and began tending to Corporal Colson. And then drove him to the hospital where he was declared dead. She talks about the horrible incident and how her life began to spiral out of control with PTSD. Her agency the Prince George's County Police Department and County Government abandoned her due to the PTSD. For years she struggled until she found help. He got a call for an armed robbery at a jewelry store. When he arrived he was met by two suspects, one of which opened fire on him. As he got out of his police car while responding to a call for a robbery at a Jewelry store, Robert DeNapoli was shot six times, in the hand, arms, legs, and left eye. The first to arrive on the scene, Bob immediately exchanged gunfire with the suspect, hitting the suspect twice as DeNapoli took multiple rounds. When a round hit him in the hand taking off most of his index finger, the trigger to his gun was damaged and would no longer fire leaving him with no weapon. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition and after several surgeries and days of treatment, was able to return home. Though the 17-year veteran’s career as a law enforcement officer came to an end as a result of his injuries, which left him blind in his left eye and walking with a limp, he continues to remain active in the law enforcement community through Violently Injured Police Officers Organization.
