Frederick Reynolds, their friend and fellow Compton Police Officer was assigned to handle the initial investigation and crime scene. The killer was a parolee in possession of a handgun. The subject was able to break free as the officers attempted to handcuff him. He fired at both officers with another gun he still had concealed on his person. After investigating hundreds of bars and brothels throughout SE Asia with police, they began The Exodus Road. Matt Parker is our guest. He and his Wife started working undercover to investigate, expose and prosecute sex trafficking work in Thailand. They began when they directed a children’s home for girls in rural Thailand. During that time, Matt began networking with local police about sex trafficking of children. He was deputized by police and started working personally to find those trapped in slavery as an undercover investigator. Armed with hidden body-worn cameras, he posed as a “john,” a man interested in sex for sale, and gathered evidence for police partners. It was gritty work that neither of them expected when they first began their journey. Matt and Laura began The Exodus Road in January of 2012 with the belief that justice is in the hands of ordinary people – just like them. Panic Gripped the City the Arrest of the Shenandoah Rapist. Arresting A Serial Rapist. Panic Gripped The City. The suspect’s victims ranged from 11 - 79 years-old. After his arrest, panic ensued again after he escaped from jail. From 2002 - 2003 the serial rapist preyed on females in Little Havana and the nearby Shenandoah neighborhood. His victims ranged from 11 - 79 years of age. The suspect was able to blend into the community and panic took hold in the City. After months and countless man hours a suspect was arrested, his DNA was matched to samples collected at crime scenes. The relief was short lived because the Shenandoah rapist escaped from jail and the manhunt was on again. Wayne Cox is our guest. He is a detective in the Miami - Dade Police Department. He lived one of the most horrific traumas any law enforcement officer would ever wish to face. Being responsible for putting the public's fear at rest, Det. Cox was challenged with finding and arresting the Shenandoah Rapist in one of the country's largest cities. Son and Two Others Murdered. Is A Sanctuary County To Blame?The sanctuary county wouldn’t hold the suspect on a prior charge and let him out. An Angel Mom whose son was shot 23 times and killed while sitting on a sofa at a friend’s house. The gunman was able to engage in this heinous crime because he was protected from removal from the U.S. by a New Jersey community’s sanctuary policies. Months earlier, the suspect was incarcerated in Middlesex County, New Jersey and ICE had issued a detainer to take custody of him. Due to the sanctuary status of that area, they released him prior to his being picked up by ICE. He had been arrested for domestic violence charges when they chose to release him because ‘Middlesex County does not honor ICE detainer holds’. After New Jersey officials let him go, he left the area and came to Springfield, Missouri, where he killed her son, Aaron Joshua Hampton, along with Steven Marler and Sabrina Starr, and severely injured two other people. Suspect Arrested for Killing Her Daughter, But Never Tried. Even though he was an illegal immigrant, with prior arrests, he was given a low bail and he has never been seen since. Her daughter, Sarah Rae Ann Root, was killed January 31, 2016 by an illegal immigrant who was driving with a blood alcohol level of .241 (several times the legal limit) and reported to be street racing at more than 70 miles per hour. Sarah had just graduated from college the day before with a 4.0 GPA. While stopped at a red light, her car was slammed at high speed by the other driver, who came to this country illegally and unaccompanied at the age of 16. He had several prior run-ins with the law, including failure to appear before a judge, and more. Despite all of this his bond was set at $50,000, he posted the required $5,000 a few weeks after killing Sarah and hasn't been seen since. Her Son's Killer Was He Enabled by US Policy? Maureen Maloney’s 23-year-old son, Matthew, was killed on August 20, 2011 by an illegal alien who was drunk and driving without a license when he ran through a stop sign and collided with Matthew, who was on his motorcycle. Matthew should have survived the collision with just abrasions and bruises. However, while fleeing the scene, the illegal alien ran over Matthew causing him to become lodged under the truck. Matthew was dragged a quarter of a mile to his death while horrified witnesses were banging on the truck and screaming for the driver to stop. Police Sergeant Murdered. Mysterious Lack of Prosecution. No Justice...The Murder Of Wellston Police Sergeant Jesse L. Henderson. Still questions about the mysterious lack of prosecution. On October 1st, 1981 Police Sergeant Jesse Henderson was shot and killed as he interrupted a burglary at a local liquor store in Wellston, Mo. He was shot once in the chest as he exited his vehicle. One adult and one juvenile were arrested and charged with capital murder. Ken Dye is our guest. He was the lead homicide detective on the case. Ken talks about the type of person and Police Sergeant Jesse Henderson was. He also discusses the inside perspective of the handling of the murder investigation, from developing suspects to the arrest of the murderer. Though charged with the murder of Sgt. Henderson, he was never prosecuted, the charges were inexplicably dropped by the prosecutor. Her Life Changed after an Armed Robbery. Give me all the money and no one will get hurt. Jen Lee talks about the armed robbery that changed the course of her life. Jen Lee is our guest. She talks about the night that she was managing a retail store, part of a national chain. While taking care of customers, she heard the words that she will never forget. During the armed robbery, the armed gunman took all of the store's money, all of her and her customer's money and all but one cellphone. The gunman ushered them all to a backroom where away from the front of the store. They had no idea if he was going to kill them all, or lock them in the room and leave. Fortunately, the robber locked them in the store room and one of the customers managed to hide her cellphone and used it to call police. After a few minutes, what seemed like an eternity a police officer arrived to rescue them. Jen talks about the incident, the impact it had on her life and how it motivates her to do her podcast, which tells the stories of real life survivors and gives much needed support for law enforcement officers. I know his character and he would never have done what they allege. Christina Dages is our guest. Christina's husband Matthew Dages was a police officer with the La Mesa California Police Department. Due to the fact that Matthew was facing criminal charges. In 2020 then Officer Matthew Dages arrested a subject which was caught on video. Almost immediately the protests began. Christina talks about how the minimal use of force applied by then Police Officer Dages, her husband, was ruled justified by the Police Department. Someone leaked their information including their address to the public and angry protestors arrived at the door of their home. Then Matthew Dages was fired by the police department and brought up on criminal charges. Retired DEA Agent Survived Being Shot through the head in Afghanistan. Joe Piersante survived, despite his severe injuries, including blindness he lives an inspiring life. Joe Piersante is our guest. He is a retired DEA agent. During his career he was a member of the DEA's FAST (SWAT team) assigned to Afghanistan. Their mission was to eradicate Poppy fields and the industry that turns it into Heroin. That DEA team in Afghanistan encountered numerous violent confrontations with members of the Taliban and those involved in the Heroin industry. During one of those deployments he was shot through the head with a high velocity machine gun round. Though many of his team thought he was killed, thanks to a miracle plus great first aid and surgical teams he survived. His severe injuries, including total blindness have not stopped him. Federal Agent Shot Multiple Times And His Partner Was Killed In An Ambush By The Zeta Cartel. Victor Avila is our guest. He is a retired US Federal Agent and author of the book Agent Under Fire. Victor tells the horrific story of the incident when he and his partner, Federal US I.C.E. Agent Jaime Zapata where ambushed and shot on a Mexican road by members of the Zeta Cartel. During the violent attack they were both shot multiple times and Jaime Zapata was killed. Victor tells the traumatic story of the attack, having to wait for almost 40 minutes before aid responded.
