She talks about the night that she was managing a retail store, part of a national chain. While taking care of customers, she heard the words that she will never forget. During the armed robbery, the armed gunman took all of the store's money, all of her and her customer's money and all but one cellphone. The gunman ushered them all to a backroom where away from the front of the store. They had no idea if he was going to kill them all, or lock them in the room and leave. Fortunately, the robber locked them in the store room and one of the customers managed to hide her cellphone and used it to call police. After a few minutes, what seemed like an eternity a police officer arrived to rescue them. Jen talks about the incident, the impact it had on her life and how it motivates her to do her podcast, which tells the stories of real life survivors and gives much needed support for law enforcement officers. Due to the fact that Matthew was facing criminal charges. In 2020 then Officer Matthew Dages arrested a subject which was caught on video. Almost immediately the protests began. Christina talks about how the minimal use of force applied by then Police Officer Dages, her husband, was ruled justified by the Police Department. Someone leaked their information including their address to the public and angry protestors arrived at the door of their home. Then Matthew Dages was fired by the police department and brought up on criminal charges. He is a retired DEA agent. During his career he was a member of the DEA's FAST (SWAT team) assigned to Afghanistan. Their mission was to eradicate Poppy fields and the industry that turns it into Heroin. That DEA team in Afghanistan encountered numerous violent confrontations with members of the Taliban and those involved in the Heroin industry. During one of those deployments he was shot through the head with a high velocity machine gun round. Though many of his team thought he was killed, thanks to a miracle plus great first aid and surgical teams he survived. His severe injuries, including total blindness have not stopped him. Victor tells the horrific story of the incident when he and his partner, Federal US I.C.E. Agent Jaime Zapata where ambushed and shot on a Mexican road by members of the Zeta Cartel. During the violent attack they were both shot multiple times and Jaime Zapata was killed. Victor tells the traumatic story of the attack, having to wait for almost 40 minutes before aid responded. The terrifying security concerns in the Mexican hospital and worst of all the treatment he, and his family received from US Federal Agencies when he returned and was trying to recover from the injuries.
