Brady has deja vu with his watch as he sets a 10k PB at Launceston as he recaps his race. Julian recovers from the previous week and gets some runs out with Surf Coast Track Club. There were fast times at the Launceston Running Festival, with Brett Robinson taking the win in the half marathon in 1:01:56 despite some less than ideal weather conditions at the start, ahead of Liam Adams and Joel Tobin-White. Sinead Diver won the half marathon in 1:11:14, clear of Abigail Nordberg and Vanessa Wilson Jess Stenson took out the 10km setting a Course Record of 31:49, and joined the show to chat about the race, her current training and plans moving ahead. Leanne Pompeani and Eloise Wellings rounded out the podium. Launceston local James Hansen won the men’s 10k race in 28:49 over Kieren Perkins and Riley Cocks. Launceston Running Festival Results Catriona Bisset posted a 1:59.73 for a season’s best in a deep field at the Roma Diamond League 800m. Jack Rayner paced the 5000m, taking the field through 3000m in 7:42. Rome Diamond League Results Ed Trippas set a qualifier and new personal best of 8:20.29 in the Men’s Steeplechase at the NCAA Track & Field Finals in Oregon. NCAA Men’s Steeplechase Final Results Portland Track Festival featured Amy Cashin taking out the Women’s 3000m Steeplechase in 9:27.91, while Pat Tiernan also took out a win in the Men’s 5000m in 13:19.14. Athletics NSW 4x4k XC Relays at Upjohn Park in Rydalmere taken out by Run Crew on both the Men’s & Women’s Open Divisions, with dominant performances from Kieren Tall, Ed Goddard, Abi Nordberg and Aynslee Van Graan. Athletics NSW Report Georgia Griffith took out the win in Jessheim, Norway setting a long awaited 1500m PB in 4:03.95, paced by Box Hill teammate Ellie Sanford. Olympic Bronze Medallist in the 1500m Tokyo Olympics, Josh Kerr of Scotland joins Luke Mathews on a wide ranging, in-depth chat, opening with setting the recent British 1500m & Mile Indoor Record in the same race at the Boston University Indoor, calling his shot beforehand and finding the drive to perform coming off the Millrose Games. With the records in the bag Josh talks about his decision to now focus on the Outdoor season over the Indoor Championships and his rivalry with Oli Hoare. Josh takes it back to his junior days in Edinburgh & Glasgow, running with Jake Wightman and making a name at the European Junior Championships while taking us through the process of getting recruited at the University of New Mexico in the NCAA. Josh recounts the 2017 London World Championships, dealing with the lows that came off the training camp at Font-Romeu and using that experience to better understand himself. Steve Moneghetti is back for another yarn, this time with his performances at the 1989 & 1995 London Marathons. After the debut in the distance in the 1986 Edinburgh Commonwealth Games winning the bronze medal and consistent selection for World Championship races, it was time to see how fast Steve was capable of in the distance. Steve chats about the allure of getting paid to travel and race at the 1989 London Marathon and taking his physio along for the ride, sharing in some of the misadventures in races during the training campaign. While highlighting some of the differences between training then and now, Steve enjoyed the low-key setting of Richmond between races, including 4th place at the World Cross Country Championships in Stavanger, Norway and even chipping in to help the organizers of the London Marathon, before the pressure really ramped up in the form of a young Bruce McAvaney, as well as other life circumstances. Steve shares how he handled that deep field and then recaps the race, including the drama at the drink station at 35k leading into the closing stages of that race and what doors that second place in 2:09:06 meant to him. From there they go to repeating the silver-medal performance in the 1995 edition of the race, bettering his time to 2:08:33 against Dionicio Ceron of Mexico and how the tactics of the race played out into the results, as well as just how many donuts Mona can eat at dessert.
