On today's podcast I continue my series on giving thanks. There are so many great people I've met along the way, way too many to name, but they have all had an impact on me. I talk about the biggest thrill of my career when I announced a Knicks game courtside at MSG with my idol Marv Albert a few feet away. I think that was the first time when I realized that I achieved my dream of being an announcer. I talk about being around Bill Russell and Willis Reed when they coached the Kings. That was an incredible experience for me. I also discuss some of the biggest jerks I've been around such as Barry Bonds and Reggie Jackson. I then discuss some athletes who have changed because of their fame such as Aaron Rodgers. All in all, the vast majority of people I've met in this business are quality individuals. You really can't go much lower than Jamal Adams of the Seahawks. He got into it with a reporter from the Jets who posted a video on X showing Adams allowing the go-ahead TD against the Cowboys last Thursday. The reporter put "Yikes" on the post. So what did Adams do? He posted a picture of the reporter's wife with the same comment "Yikes". If you want to go after the reporter who you don't like, fine, but keep his wife out of it! Jets QB Aaron Rodgers unloaded on the Jets front office yesterday while appearing on the Pat McAfee Show. Rodgers is very upset at leaks coming from the organization regarding QB Zach Wilson. The Athletic wrote a story citing sources saying Wilson didn't want to risk injury by playing the final few games. On today's episode I continue to give thanks for the great things that have happened in my career. I begin talking about my love for hockey and how it led to me calling some Sharks games on TV. One of the games I announced involved Wayne Gretzky and the LA Kings. To this day, that was a great thrill for me. I also talk about working for the Raiders and being their TV announcer for the preseason. I had tremendous experiences including being around the legendary Al Davis. On today's episode I reflect back on some of my fondest memories that don't involve the Kings. I start off talking about doing mock play-by-play back in junior high school. All the students would chant my name at class assemblies if the program ran short and I would go on stage and do a game. Doing high school football and basketball games gave me tremendous experiences early in my career as well. This business is about reps. Perhaps the thing I reflect back on the most was working at ESPN Radio back in the late 90's. Going to the ESPN headquarters back in Bristol, Ct was a thrill! The people I met and the friendships that developed from that experience was life changing. I then talk about filling in for the legendary Jim Rome on his show. Thanks to Draymond Green the Warriors are imploding. Last night the Kings scored 69 second half points enroute to the big come from behind victory. On today's episode I continue with my "giving thanks" shows. I reflect on those who paved the way for me to enjoy a career beyond my dreams. I have been truly blessed to call three major sports leagues and countless other events. My career has taken me to ESPN and the Jim Rome Show in addition to my jobs in Sacramento. I begin the episode by talking about the first person who shaped my broadcasting life. Glenn Cerny owned WKIQ radio in Bowling Green, Ohio and he was the first person to accelerate my career. From there it was being in the right place at the right time and knowing people who were decision makers. I've always said this, it doesn't matter how people you know. Sports has dominated my life and I share some memories from my early years especially on Thanksgiving Day. Two plays that always stand out to me are Lawrence Taylor's 97 interception return against the Lions in 1982 and Leon Lett's blunder that cost the Cowboys the game against the Dolphins in 1993. Yesterday the MLB owners voted 30-0 to approve the move of the Oakland A's to Las Vegas. This leaves the city with no professional teams. The F1 is in Vegas for tomorrow's race and thus far things couldn't be much worse. The first practice session was called off after just 9 minutes when Carlos Sainz ran over a loose manhole cover that damaged his car considerably. With DeAaron Fox back for his second straight game from his ankle injury Domantas Sabonis has gone from a good player to a great player. Week 10 of the NFL season is in the books and there are several tight races.
