On today's episode I reflect on 2023. I begin by talking about the great year for the Sacramento Kings which saw them reach the playoffs for the first time since 2006. I also read a few reviews from listeners and react to some of their comments. I really don't like mixing sports and politics, but sometimes it in unavoidable. I spend a few minutes talking about the biggest problem I see facing our country. I then talk about what I want to see in 2024 and the first things is good health. The Dodgers have agreed to a 12-year $325 million dollar deal with Japanese pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto. This comes on the heels of the Dodgers signing Shohei Ohtani for $700 million over 10 years. Oh yeah, the Dodgers also have to pay an additional $50 million to Yamamoto's previous team in Japan. On today's episode I talk about the broken sport of baseball and the unbalance among the teams in MLB. I also reflect on the days before players demanding trades and free agency. Gosh, I miss those times! I don't see any upside to a team paying two players over $1 billion total dollars. I think this is bad for the sport of baseball which already has many problems. I continue my series of giving thanks. I begin by talking about recent comments made by former Reds and Fox announcer Thom Brennaman. Thom lost his career when he used a homophobic slur over a "hot" mic back in 2020. Recently, Brennaman said he wouldn't change a thing about his life the past three years. It got me thinking, would I change anything about my life the past three years? That is very difficult to answer, but I am grateful I have this platform. I talk about Sean Salisbury and the life changing event he went through when he took in a homeless person. I discuss a call to my radio show from "Dan" who lost everything in the Camp Fire. I reflect back on my conversations with Paul Westphal who we lost nearly two years ago. I reminisce about my situation back in 2020 and the impact that people had on me.
