Ep 7675. Work Smarter Not Harder by Tapping Into the Green Zone with Jessica Haley
Welcome Back to The Coachable Podcast. This week we are joined again by my dear friend Jessica Haley. Jessica's purpose isn’t to do ONE thing. Instead, it is to do everything that aligns to her truth. Activating, serving, and being a catalyst for transformation is where her heart is. Today, she activates CEOs and the companies they run to achieve peak states of growth, success and impact by teaching them the importance of energy optimization, mission development, and sales/marketing strategy. She helps high performers understand how to get into that flow state. Maximize it. & Allow the times that they aren’t in it to serve their highest growth/evolution.[1:00] Background of Manifest CEO "The neuroscience behind manifestation gives you an edge to be able to optimize your energy, tap into a flow state and condense timeframes." "Manifestation has this fluffy, airy fairy, super spiritual kind of thing around it, and it's not. This is science and if you use this to your advantage you can work smarter instead of harder." "Green Zone is the foundation - it's checking your energy and understanding how to tap into that flow state." [5:00] Auditing our internal reality "Internal cause external effect. If you're not 100% satisfied with what you've got in your external reality that you're staring at, then there's probably something you need to audit internally." "I'm not a victim of circumstance. I am a creator of it and I am choosing to see all things as something that's trying to help me expand and grow and move me closer to what I want, not further away from it." [20:00] Manifest Movie "A manifest movie is essentially a way for you to tap into the imagery and the music and the emotion of whatever it is that you're creating." "Find pictures that evoke the emotion in your physical body." "Everything that we create starts as a thought, but then having that music seals it, it it, it allows you to access a portal into what can be into this possible future that you're creating." [42:00] Green Zone "Our perception of our reality is one hundred percent dictated by the emotional state that we are in." "When you're in the green zone possibilities are endless. You can see opportunity. This is when we are most in alignment. This is when we are flowing downstream and just in that space of creativity and enthusiasm." And then you can expand it even more” “The easiest way to start to shift is to get around people who set points higher than yours.” “We think what we want is so far out there, but there are people living it and there is a recipe to it.” “It's just a matter of increasing your self-worth to the point where you will actually allow yourself to have that level of ease and wellbeing.” Connect with Hannahttps://www.instagram.com/hannamoneybliss/https://www.facebook.com/hannamarie.b/GET The 13 Money Bliss Affirmation Cards FREE https://www.hannabier.com/affirmationsYOU are invited to Join me each month foConnect with us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thecoachablepodcast/Connect with Tori on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/coachtorigordon/Guess what?! Ep 5959. Reconstructing Your Identify To Live A More Profound Life With Jake Kauffman
Welcome back to The Coachable Podcast. This week we are joined by Jake Kauffman. Jake is an Executive Life Coach & Business Consultant to 7 & 8 figure purpose driven entrepreneurs & CEOs and he was even a coach of mine back in the day. He supports other conscious entrepreneurs in expanding themselves personally so that they can exponentially grow professionally.[3:33] Jake’s Story After a recent traumatic brain injury Jake shares about what he's been learning about life and business and why he's choosing to do things differently [10:00] Admired Identity There is a transition from the first half of life to second. Death, disease, divorce, are the most common things that really thrust people into this dying process that is necessary in order for us to live up to our true potential and embrace our authentic identity. The only constant is change. Admired identity is simply who you've become in an effort to be loved, accepted and successful. The alternative is living in misery and confusion our whole lives about what we offer or where's our value outside of what we can do or what we used to do Waking up involves the killing of that persona, where we literally die to that persona because this is like our admired identity so that we can step into and fully embrace and live into our authentic identity. [25:00] Suffering Most people have it backwards. They think that they need to achieve their way to their full potential when really you need to die your way there. Our power lies in our ability to choose You have to go through hell to get to heaven You have to be refined in the fire. You have to go through the cave. It requires necessary suffering. Life isn't hard because you're doing it wrong. It's hard because you're doing it right. You are right where you need to be experiencing exactly what you need to. [36:00] Divine Blueprint We experience trauma as child which creates an identity to not re-experience pain growing up.. this requires us to confront the pain People don't have business problems, they only have personal problems that show up in their business Its shifting from focusing on a cash-based business to a results-based business. How do I have the biggest deepest impact possible? Play is part of the divine blueprint It's all about finding your worth in other ways and not dependent on performance The process of not just talking about it, but walking it out, living it out, embodying it at a deeper level. Its having a deeper level of beingness. Ep 5858. From Side Hustle to CEO of Foundr: The Future of Entrepreneurial Education with Nathan Chan
Welcome back to The Coachable Podcast. This week we are joined by Nathan Chan. Nathan went from a soul-crushing 9-5 job in IT to being the founder of one of the fastest growing online entrepreneurial brands in the world. Frustrated with the lack of REAL advice for those wanting to build and scale a business, Nathan launched Foundr in 2013 and set out to interview the world's greatest entrepreneurs. Flash forward, Foundr has now featured the likes of Richard Branson, Mark Cuban and Ariana Huffington, amassed a global community of 4+ million people, and grown into a multi-million dollar digital media network.[5:00] Growth Mindset “It takes taking the first step to actually get started and start to grow the momentum. “ “Fear of failure is a massive reason people don't try. I think it stems from this idea that how will you be perceived by others, around you.” “A growth mindset of seeing failure as opportunity to learn and to get better and to perfect your craft and try something new. It doesn't mean that you're not qualified or cut out for it, but it's saying that every rejection is redirection” [21:35] Keep hustling — it will come “You have to have the drive and the desire that out ways, the desire for comfort or stability” “I used to get up early in the morning before work and I would do interviews, I'd find a meeting room, take all my podcast equipment. And I'd do interviews before I started work.” Sometimes I do interviews on my lunch break and then I'd go home and do more work.” “I remember I was super scared to go all out on my own. What I did was I had a buffer. Somewhere between three to six months.” “It's easy to start. It's harder to actually build and actually to, to, to get that traction” [30:00] What makes someone successful? “It's really good to acknowledge that they're just human beings at the end of the day.” “It has to be an extreme obsession to keep you going.” “You have to have that mindset of just always wanting to evolve, always wanting to keep growing.” “You also can't be successful on your own. Successful people also have other successful people around them.” “Shortcuts — you want to get there faster” [41:00] Burnout “There's a cost and a payoff to everything.” “Everything we're saying yes to, we're saying no to a million other things” “Life is too short to not do things you love” “Identify that things aren't right and adjust” Connect with Nathanhttps://www.instagram.com/nathanchan/https://www.instagram.com/foundr/Get a free magazine subscription at www.foundr.com/membershipYOU are invited to Join me each month for 75 minutes of virtual breathwork JULY 20th @ 4:00pm PST! It's not just among leaders. It's, it's our entrepreneurs. Self awareness is a key predictor of success in our marriages, in our relationship with our children, with friends, with ourselves, with our higher power.” “Understanding who you are, how you show up for life, what the motivations, the hidden motivations are that drive our ways of typically acting, thinking, and feeling.” [19:00] Understanding Others “The Enneagram provides us with a low resolution picture of the interior world, of yourself and other people.” “Even if you got 10% more clarity about the inner experience of other people, that's a giant leap forward, a huge leap forward.” “The amazing thing is that you begin to develop this wisdom in your approach to other people.” “You also start to learn, “oh, this is how people experience me”’ “I've been able to, in real time, make decisions about how I relate to others, because I know there are types.” [27:00] Story of you ..”Realizing I can change the story. Through the ebbs and flows of his own entrepreneurial journey, his experience has provided invaluable insight to corporate leadership, organizational health, and cultural vitality [5:00] Playful/Childlike Spirit “Life doesn’t have to be so serious. We’re allowed to have fun. “Its about breaking up with the belief that play isn’t productive.” “Play helps you get to the next level not mal intent” “The opposite of play is resistance” “All aspects of your health goes up when more playful” “Along the journey we stop playing and start competing. Play is no longer play when you are attached to the outcome.” “Play is an immersive experience” [21:00] Play in the Workplace "Curious, engaged, and emotionally safe people are highly productive human beings. But people who are compliant, disengaged and emotionally void, just get by." "70 to 80% of people in the workforce today are either disengaged or unengaged. One recently said it's as high as 90%. It wouldn't surprise me because the workforce has become a performance place." "The whole paradigm just pits people against people that have a deeply immersed sense of competition instead of collaboration and the workplace needs more collaboration." [36:00] Play lab experiment with play “We have 43 now independently verified, highly useful experiments. Many of them have to do with games, toys, arts, and crafts storytelling. But in this case, one of the things that I encourage people to do is a tactile exercise that helps mental-pliability.” “Every human is different, but this is one thing I would start with because in general, any time I touch something that I want to manipulate, it allows access to neuro-plasticity.” “Must relax before it can be replaced” [43:00] Play saves the day “There are many modalities for human transformation, and I see play as a modality, but more importantly than a modality” “Next to breathing, which happens automatically, play is right there as a close second” Connect with Steve: www.playsavestheday.com and use promo code TORI30 for 30% off your copy of Play Saves The DayModern Fertility is an easy and affordable way to test your fertility hormones at home. Welcome back Coachable Fam! This week we are joined with AJ Vaden! AJ is CEO and Co-Founder of Brand Builders Group, one of the world's leading authorities on personal brand strategy. She’s also the co-host of the Influential Personal Brand podcast, named one of Forbes' top 10 podcasts to listen to in 2021. [7:00] Personal Branding in 2022 “You already have a personal brand. Everyone has one, it's not a matter of, do I want one or should I get one? You already have one.” “A personal brand is the intentional effort of building your reputation… It's a new trendy term for a very long old established a concept which is your reputation, what are you known for.” “We've all heard that old saying your reputation precedes you , and it really does. Believe it or not, you get to influence that based on who you hang out with, what you talk about, what you share, what you put online, it's all the different things that are, compartmentalized on a day to day basis, but they all make up this overarching, who am I?” “Your comfort will always hold you back from your calling.” [23:00] Study on Personal Branding “The majority of all Americans said, a personal brand to them is just someone who is simply recognizable to them.” “You are recognized by someone every day in your life.” “Millennials say that their most trusted source of product information is their friends.” “The number one thing that was most important to people when deciding to purchase from someone was whether or not they had testimonials.” “People want third-party validation that you are, who you say you are, and you do what you say you're going to do by people that look and feel like me.” [43:00] Future of influencer marketing “The trust is held with the individual, not the company.” “It's Not what you do, it's who you are.” “People fall in love with you, not what you do. And at some point we stopped doing that. We stopped letting people get to know us.” “Don't be vanilla, don't be neutral.. that's not what people need..I need someone who's going to be willing to speak some truth and it's okay if I don't agree with it.” “You need to be exactly where your audience is and you need to be in tune with that. I think one of the challenges today is that we try to serve a whole bunch of different masters and we think we have to be on every single platform to be successful.” Connect with AJhttps://www.instagram.com/aj_vaden/https://freebrandcall.com/torigordon/YOU are invited to Join me each month for 75 minutes of virtual breathwork JULY 13th @ 4:00pm PST! Ep 5454. How to Stress Less & Accomplish More with Emily Fletcher
Welcome back to the Coachable Podcast! This week we are joined by Emily Fletcher! Emily is the founder of Ziva and has taught the Ziva Technique to over 40,000 people. Her best-selling book, Stress Less, Accomplish More, debuted at #7 out of all books on Amazon and has been translated into 12 languages. In 2021, she launched zivaKIDS, the first meditation course of its kind for kids ages 4-14.[10:00] Meditation “The kingdom of heaven is in fact within, but none of us really are taught how to get there.” “If you think that the point of meditation is declaring your mind, you are always going to feel like a failure because the mind thinks involuntarily just like the heartbeats involuntarily.” “We meditate to get good at life. Not to get good at meditation.” “No one would leave their house without brushing their teeth because it's gross and rude. You should not be leaving your house without meditating because you're now then spewing your stress around everybody else.” [23:00] Time Management “I work with some of the busiest people on the planet and they're not meditating because they have extra time, right? They're doing it because they know it's going to improve their performance.” “Stress is making us stupid, sick and slow. That's a hard pill to swallow because we're addicted to it” “Ziva is so special that it's creating a trait change. This thing is actually healing you on a cellular level. It is changing your body and it's getting rid of all the stress from your past.” [35:00] Manifesting “Step one in manifesting is we actually have to get the brain out of fight or flight. We have to get it into, stay and play, start flooding the body with dopamine and serotonin.” “Moving from surviving to thriving is hard to do if you're exclusively approaching it through the left brain intellect.” “I recommend a stop gap between the meditation and the manifesting of gratitude." "By gratitude, I mean, enthusiastic gratitude for what is, and if you can get to that, if you can get to genuine, authentic, enthusiastic gratitude for exactly what is, that's one click away from enthusiastic gratitude for what's on the way.” [50:00] Process of Ziva “Once you take the course, you have these tools with you for life. You're not dependent on me/ an app to meditate" "Meditating with your phone is like having an AA meeting in a liquor store. Why would you go into the belly of the beast?” “It's based on something called niche, karma yoga, which means union attained by action. What people find is that it feels kind of like a nap sitting up without the sleep hangover. And in just 15 minutes, it feels like you've had an hour and a half nap.” Connect With Emily https://www.instagram.com/zivameditation/If you are interested in trying Ziva Meditation use code "tori" for 20% off at https://zivameditation.com/onliConnect with us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thecoachablepodcast/Connect with Tori on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/coachtorigordon/Guess what?! Ep 5252. How to Change Your Brain to Change Your Life with Dr. Caroline Leaf
Welcome Back Coachable Fam! You are in for a treat today! Dr. Caroline Leaf is a communication pathologist and cognitive neuroscientist with a Masters and PhD in Communication Pathology and a BSc Logopaedics, specializing in cognitive and metacognitive neuropsychology. Since the early 1980s she has researched the mind-brain connection, the nature of mental health, and the formation of memory. She was one of the first in her field to study how the brain can change (neuroplasticity) with directed mind input.[5:00] Brain Vs Mind “The Mind is us, a likeness or a humanness, being able to think, feel, and choose all the experiences of life.” “The mind is like gravitational fields. It can’t be seen, but we know it's there, because of the evidence, which is that we are not floating.” “The brain is a physical part. The thoughts come in the mind, which makes the experience into a physical thought.” [15:41] Power of Choice “The non-conscious mind is the biggest part of who you are. It's the most intelligent part of who you are.” “You can never change your story of what happened in childhood, adolescence, early adulthood and whatever stage of your life, because your stories happened. But what you can do is change what it looks like inside of you. And then therefore you can change how it plays out into the future.” “We spend way too much time ignoring the cause. And then once we do face the course, we then try and spend a lot of time trying to find why someone did that?” [25:08] Subconscious “The Subconscious is the bridge” “No emotions are bad, and no emotion should be suppressed because they are incredible messages.” “The non-conscious sends signals through the subconscious, into the conscious mind. So depression, that's an emotion. It's one of four signals, not an illness. It's a warning signal, embrace it.” “Energy is never lost. It's transferred. So as I did this, I'm starting to build a little replacement thought.” [34:00] Neurocycle “It's a systematic ordered mind management system that drives the neuroplasticity of your brain, therefore changing right down to the level of your DNA of every cell of your body.” “It's an embraced process to reconceptualize over time, to break these established patterns.” “It's not a mental health pandemic. It is a mismanagement of the mind. That's the real issue. We've got to reteach people how to manage their minds.” Connect With Dr.Caroline:drleaf.comhttps://www.instagram.com/drcarolineleaf/Be confident that you're getting all your necessary nutrients! You're moving towards a death, filled with regret.” “A radical acceptance of accountability is the only true sense of freedom that you'll ever have.” [29:00] OvercomingTrauma “With trauma and abuse it’s not the finger that was cut off. It’s the thing that we carry with us, it’s the theft of our identity.” “You have to get to the place in your life where you find the thing that forces you forward with momentum.” “Nobody's coming to save you. There is no Disney moment, whatever it is that you think is going to happen, it ain't happening.” “The more you try to figure it out on your own, the more confused you are..And here's why, because what, you know, got you to where you're at… And so if you want to get to where you want to go, you better go ask somebody else” "You can only build confidence through consistently doing incredibly uncomfortable things continually." [48:00] Mindset "Mindset is what you think becomes what you speak, what you speak, becomes your actions and your action becomes your reality." "You actually have to practice and the practice is what makes you competent. And it's the competent, that gets you confident." [13:00] Critic To Coach “What I've done is I've allowed a critic in my head to become my coach. I've literally had her now teach me and tell me what I'm fearful of and then have a plan in order to mitigate that from happening.” “I actually now very much use that negative voice in my head to help tell me what I'm about to face and then come up with a plan to help coach me into.” “When we get clear on what we really want, it becomes easy to say no to the things that are going to help us get there.” [26:00] Relationship With Failure “Growth mindset is putting yourself in situations that you do find comfortable and putting yourself in situations that you don't have confidence in. “I actually have the trust in myself that if I mess up, if I fail, I can get back up.” “Failure. Isn't really an option. It's just about learning and expanding” [36:00] Having a Why “I was evolving from my why to be this fear-based thing to then becoming a mission. I realized that the mission was the key piece to pulling the heartstrings.” “Having a why needs to be the first step” “When something comes at me that I don’t expect or I feel inadequate, I always can remember my why” [41:00] Relationship To Quitting “So many of us want to quit when it's hard, when we don't feel good about ourselves, when we try that new thing. But it's because of the emotion, it's not because of the thing.” “Identify in those moments, is it the thing or the emotion that you don't feel good enough about?” “Vowing “I'm not going to quit on a bad day” is a really, really powerful way to make sure that you don't give up too, too soon” Connect With Lisa:www.lisabilyeu.com @lisabilyeuBe confident that you're getting all your necessaryConnect with us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thecoachablepodcast/Connect with Tori on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/coachtorigordon/Guess what?! It is just a side effect of social media that swings into hype. "We start to slip into moments where we don't feel gratitude, where people start to look like numbers for us versus heartbeats.” “When did we stop thinking about impact as much and put income in its place?” [12:00] Your Why “I am committed to being a mission driven messenger and working with mission driven messengers, because if you don't have a deeper why” “Our job is to take people along our journey and to show our progression. It's not about this perfection.” “Faith it till you make it not fake it till you make it” “It comes down to this realization that we were worthy upon arrival. Worth is not earned. It was our God-given birthright.” [20:00] Becoming Iconic “It's this whole story of becoming iconic could be an iconic stay-at-home mom or an iconic entrepreneur and iconic corporate career, iconic relationships, and what to me defines iconic is the person who is willing to pursue a better version every single day.” “It's the pursuit of seeing all of ourselves and being all of ourselves.” “It's peaceful confidence and peaceful confidence to me is the ultimate for a woman.” “She's the woman who walks in a room and does not need to be loud and boisterous and declare her space. It is simply from the inside out.” [30:00] Leadership “These are my five pillars. The first is embodiment, the pursuit of your truth, your integrity, I believe the second one is relationships, the third being wellness. “The 4th being your business or what it is you do out in the world and the fifth thing being spirituality.” “Every single day, I'm going to intentionally do something to grow them, to foster them, to nourish them, to flourish them.” [40:00] Imposter Syndrome “I actually welcome things like that, because that tells me I've stretched into something and I am Uber uncomfortable. I am in territory that I've never been in before. So I better shape up and figure out the skills and learn the lessons.” “I stand a little straighter. People feel imposter and what do they do? They shrink. I would challenge anybody listening. If you're feeling imposter syndrome, walk towards it, that means you're doing something new.” [47:00] Student For Life “My hindsight becomes my foresight” “Tear the pede Connect with us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thecoachablepodcast/Connect with Tori on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/coachtorigordon/Guess what?! Randy is a New York Times Best Selling Author, Partner at High-Performance Institute, and Passionate Entrepreneur! His favorite thing in the world is to help grow companies and people. As a Partner at Tamarak, our focus is to help build durable and purposeful companies. He works closely with some of the world's most recognized CEOs, companies, thought leaders, and experts.[3:00] What drives you “Seeing those that I work with really win and that's winning to me.” “I really love being that servant leader and that role model leader.” “I am all about high performance leadership” [9:00] Playing at a high level “The very first habit is to seek clarity out of all the habits that are out there, like, do you set clarity and seek clarity out of every single day?” “If you don't have your strategy on one page, you don't have a strategy.” “Then the next habit is to generate energy. It's hard to have really good energy if you don't know where the heck you're going.” [16:00] Time “Time is free, but it's priceless. You can't own it. But you can use it. You can't keep it, but you can spend it. But once we've lost that we will never, ever, ever get it back.” “You need to take a break every 50 minutes, but you also need to plan time to really think "I used to feel guilty that I was taking a rest or a break. It's actually, a need you need to plan for it a lot” “High performance is doing things better than average over the long-term while maintaining relationships, you cannot be high performance by yourself.” [22:00] The Essence of Living “The master and the art of living actually makes little distinction between whether he's working or playing, his love and his leisure are the same, his mind and his body or a one.” “A lot of that breaks down to what are your daily habits? How are you spending your day? " “You can't do life alone and you can't win by only playing defense." “We like to say defense wins championships, but offense is what makes you score. And I think part of playing offense is being really intentional about the people that you surround yourself with.” [31:00] Increase “If You cannot maintain positive relationships. You cannot be a high performer.” “Once you seek clarity, that helps you generate energy, then the next one is to increase.” “If you don't have your own goals, somebody else will use you for theirs and that will drain your energy.” "What's the motive? That's what drives me and ultimately sustains me over time because if we don't have that deeper “WHY” we'll do the sprint, but then we'll quit.” Connect With Randy:IG: RandyGarnrandygarn.comBe confident that you're getting all your necessary nutrients! Welcome back Coachable Family! This week you are in for a treat! Tori Dunlap is an internationally-recognized money and career expert, and podcast host. After saving $100,000 at age 25, Tori quit her corporate job in marketing and founded Her First $100K to fight financial inequality by giving women actionable resources to better their money. And with that privilege came a responsibility.” “We don't have any sort of equality for any marginalized group until we have financial equality.” “I work to see personal finance education as a form of protest" “When you have financial stability, you have options, you have choices. “You can't talk about money and not talk about systemic oppression and talk about these narratives that are perpetuated in order to keep you underpaid and overworked” [13:20 ] Shame and Money “We have so much shame and judgment around money because no one taught us how to money. And we are then shamed for our choices. Women specifically, we are told, ‘stop spending your money on frivolous things’.” “Shame, loves silence and loves the quiet corner of the room, and that's what the talking about money is: this taboo narrative telling you “don't talk about money, that's shameful or you’re going to get judged” “Talking about money is a form of protest. That's why having financial resources and understanding the financial system are forms of protest against that society and that system that is actively keeping you and gatekeeping that information from you.” [22:00] Re-empower yourself “The vast majority of your money habits are cemented by age seven” “What is the first time you remember consciously having thoughts about money?” “Moving from defense to offense was replacing that belief with making money is a natural byproduct of doing things I love” Knowing it's okay to want money. It's okay to want choices. Every single person wants those choices. It's not bad. [30:00] Money = Choices “The vast majority of people don't just want money in order to see a literal stack of paper in their bank account. They want what that stack of paper gives them in terms of options. Wanting money, pursuing money is not a bad thing. “Money gives you choices. I don't have to stay in a situation I don't want to be in because I'm financially dependent on that situation” “99% of domestic violence cases Connect with us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thecoachablepodcast/Connect with Tori on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/coachtorigordon/Guess what?! Ep 4545. [HOT TAKE] How Your Mindset Is Ruining Your Motivation
Welcome Back Coachable Family! Today I break down the levels of self-mastery and what it takes to truly be successful in anything in life, and what are some of those pitfalls that continually trip us up. This is going to be really illuminating for some of you that find yourself continually starting things and never making the progress or getting the results that you really want.[2:00] Self-Mastery and Success. “Our culture tells us that if we understand something, we should be able to do it.” “Repetition is the mother of mastery.” “We tend to stay in our comfort zones of what we're naturally good at.” [7:00] Cognitive mastery “The first level of self-mastery or mastery of any skill begins with cognitive mastery. This is the intellectual understanding.” “Knowledge is not power applied Knowledge is” “In this phase we’re excited and we're committed. We're like, yes, I'm going to do this thing. And we have cognitively mentally decided, and we understand intellectually, what it's going to take.” “Maybe it's going to be 30, 60, 90 days to create this habit. But here's the thing. You can only do what, you know, so naturally the more, you know, the more you can do” [12:00] Repetition and emotional mastery “You have to feel it. And what you're going to feel here is resistance.” “The work doesn't start until you get uncomfortable. A lot of us want to stay in that comfort.” “Repetition: continually, consistently doing something is when you're starting to develop emotional mastery over that thing. You no longer allow fear to dictate your choices or decisions, or your willingness to show up and do it.” “This is where you develop the discipline to do the thing in the face of discomfort.” “When you're learning a new skill, if we can apply an emotional consequence, good or bad, it will help us to remember and to recall it when we need it.” [20:00] Lifestyle to Identity “This is the actual embodiment where it's not just a habit that you can learn in 30, 60, 90 days.” “This is who I am. Now, you embody it. You own it. It's in your psychology. It's in your physiology.” “Showing up consistently and doing the thing consistently actually pays off.” “Dare to care about something.. dare to want something so badly that you're willing to fail at it over and over and over again until you get it.” [30:00] Prevention vs Pain Relief “We live in a culture where we tend to not, you know, we don't invest in prevention.” “We invest in pain relief because when everything is good in your life, you're not motivated to do anything different when you've got the money in the bank.” “Look at where you are and think about where you've come from and the stretch of that journey that you've already co Connect with us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thecoachablepodcast/Connect with Tori on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/coachtorigordon/Guess what?! For over sixteen years, Gabby Bernstein has been transforming lives—including her own. She connects with her community through her books, her Miracle Membership, and her podcast Dear Gabby. [10:48] “We all have trauma. Sometimes it's trauma with a big T like mine, like yours with your sister trauma with a small being bullied, being told you're stupid.” “Whether we're aware of the trauma or not consciously, we do everything we can to push them down so that we don't have to let their presence be known in our day-to-day adult life." Triggers [15:03] “We have to be brave enough to look at and take an inventory of what triggers us and the ways that we run from it in order to begin.” “Typically a reflection of an unresolved wound from our childhood.” “What is it that triggers you? What does it feel like when you're triggered? How are you running and avoiding that trigger. Asking yourself those three questions and going down the list of all the triggers that are super active for you will help you notice the patterns.” IFS [19:34] “The goal of IFS is to recognize, honor, and respect the protectors and the managers, and then give yourself permission to get closer to the parts of you that are activated and honor, and respect them as well.” “When we're triggered, it's really the child, parts of us that are getting triggered..And then the protector parts come in to save us from having to feel the trigger” BEING A BEGINNER [32:33] “Being committed to being a student and being willing to learn and being willing to grow. And sometimes, that looks like being a beginner.” “There's purpose in the pain that you cannot see yet..find the holy in the s**t." COACHING WITH TORI [46:14] “I am focused on personal transformation and embodiment. My mission on this planet is to help relieve as much unnecessary suffering as possible." You can choose to be in that dance together despite the fact that no one is right.” “I am here for grieving and letting go of the myth that, “If you’re truly the right one for me,I’ll never feel discomfort, doubtful or hesitant.’” “Sometimes the healing has to start in the little spaces.” Love Today [23:00] “Dating is hard because it’s hard! Not because you’re broken or wrong or haven’t figured it out.” “We can’t have our grandparents' love story because the context is different.” “All of this noise is overwhelming out in the world. When you’re in the quiet space of therapy or coaching, you can finally start to see what’s yours and what is not yours.” “A couples love story belongs to them.” Our Original Love Classroom [34:00] “When we are little, we are observing and absorbing messages.” “The first type of message is observing the dynamics of the big people in the house. “Type 2 is relating to and becoming who the big people in the house need us to be.” “We’re in love with falling in love. When we get past that 6-12 month period and they start to show their baggage, your perception of that person starts to change.” “The more compassionate you are with yourself, the more compassionate you can be with your partner.” “That fear and shame that keeps us hiding is also the thing that keeps us from deep intimacy.” Not Being Chosen [46:00] “Not being chosen by someone is painful. Was it a social narrative, coming from a family member?” “Start communicating with a man how you want him to contribute.” “When a woman is vulnerable with a man, that is when you really meet the man. Is he able to stay grounded and respond in a vulnerable way?” Courage in Your Relationship [30:00] “Take the step and say, ‘I’m going to let the more feminine oriented parts of me come forward and be present. Leadership in a relationship is about helping to see where a relationship is going.” “Do you have agreements about how you’re going to operate in arguments?” Core Feminine Needs [39:00] “A core feminine need that is often not met by the masculine is being understood.” “When a woman says she’s hurt, the natural hard wired response is to protect. We move into a place where we want to solve your problem but we don’t know how because we don’t understand what you’re experiencing.” “Courage doesn’t happen in your mind, it happens in your heart and being in that experience with your partner.” Viewing The Unconscious Mind [45:00]“Most men live in their head and are detachedConnect with us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thecoachablepodcast/Connect with Tori on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/coachtorigordon/Guess what?! We’re letting people know what’s okay with us and what’s not.” “Your boundaries are composed of your preferences, desires, limits, and deal-breakers.” “Women are raised and praised for being self abandoning codependents.” “We should be asking ‘What about us?’ to ourselves.” “When we say yes when we want to say no, the people in your life do not know you.” “How can people love us, if we don’t let anyone know us?” Saying No [15:00] “For the next 7 days, don’t give anyone an immediate answer.” “Instead of saying, ‘Oh, yeah, sure’, you’re going to normalize having a 24 hour thinking period.” “It’s easier to give an authentic ‘No’ when you haven’t given a reactionary ‘Yes’.” Codependency [19:30] “Being overly invested in the feelings, states, decisions, outcomes, circumstances of the people in your life to the detriment of your internal peace- your physical, financial, emotional wellbeing.” “What makes you think you know what lessons others need to learn in this lifetime?” “When we’re being codependent, we’re centering ourselves in the middle of another person’s problem. It’s not about them-it’s about us.” “High functioning codependency-you make it look easy, but you’re still doing things for others that they can do themselves and putting yourself last on your list.” Our Intentions [28:00] “Allow yourself to feel relief that other’s beliefs, circumstances, and emotions are not and cannot be your responsibility.” “Stop auto-advice giving. If someone comes with a problem, ask expansive questions.” “Assume that the people you love are capable. Ask for consent when speaking to their problems.” “We are not valuable because of what we do, or the value we add to the life of others. We are inherently valuable because we are alive.” “Healthy boundaries are a language. We have to learn them.” Redefine and reclaim where your worth comes from [36:00] “Do you do what you need for yourself in your relationships?” “In your partnership, you can write down what each person does on a whiteboard and decide how it can be more equitable.” “When we give from a place of emptiness, even when people are grateful nobody will be able to be grateful enough.” “Fine really means feelings internally not expressed.” Express yourself [45:00] “You can always be kind when it comes to boundaries and the truth.” “The Connect with us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thecoachablepodcast/Connect with Tori on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/coachtorigordon/Guess what?!
