How to Get a New Husband | Sunday Message

In this special message, Cathe Laurie joins Pastor Greg to speak to women on being godly wives. Let’s set what culture says aside and instead turn to God’s Word for biblical insight on marriage. It’s a message you won’t want to miss! Notes If we want a marriage and family that succeeds, we must do it as God tell us to! H. O. P. E Holding On with Patient Expectation. “Victory is not won by evacuation.” —Winston Churchill 1. Be the best version of yourself that you can be. Proverbs 31 speaks of a balanced woman strong in every way. The Bible reminds us to not focus on outward appearance alone. The Godly woman focuses primarily on the internal but does not forget the external. The word adornment is “cosmos” in Greek. Note: The Bible does not forbid women to look attractive. Paul gives a balanced view of a balanced believer. The godly woman is known for her wisdom as well as her beauty. 2. Respect your man. For a wife to win her husband requires her to respect him. “When a husband feels disrespected, it is especially hard to love his wife. When a wife feels unloved, it is especially hard to respect her husband.” —Dr. Emerson Eggerichs God is not calling on wives to feel respect; He is commanding them to show respectful behavior. Let your beauty be primarily inward, but don’t forget the outward. Respect and honor your husband. Focus on actions over words to influence your husband. A man needs to listen to what his wife has to say. A woman needs to avoid the temptation to nag. T. – True H. – Helpful I. – Inspiring N. – Necessary K. – Kind Often in communication, we are speaking from different perspectives. 3. Submit to the leadership of your husband. “There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.” —Galatians 3:28 The husband has the God-given responsibility to provide, protect, and lead just as the Lord does for the church! “But Peter and the other Apostles answered and said, “We ought to obey God rather than men.” —Acts 5:29 Scripture Referenced Song of Solomon 1:10 1 Timothy 4:8 Proverbs 31:26, 30 Ephesians 5:33 Proverbs 31:26 Proverbs 19:13; Proverbs 21:19 --- Learn more about Greg Laurie and Harvest Ministries at harvest.org. Life's Most Dangerous Word | Classic Crusade Message

In this classic crusade recording, Pastor Greg Laurie preaches a message titled, "Life's Most Dangerous Word." From this crusade event, we see the power of the gospel to change you and the power of God to satisfy your deepest longings. Speaking to a large crowd, Pastor Greg gives tragic examples of people who pursue happiness and cannot find it in this world. The answer, we learn, is only found in a relationship with God, and we're invited to believe on the name of Christ today—not tomorrow. Pastor Greg Laurie states, "Life's most dangerous word is tomorrow. Tomorrow sounds so innocent, but it's life's most dangerous word. Tomorrow is the road that leads to the town called Never. Tomorrow is the barred and bolted door that shuts people out of Heaven." If you would like to learn more about having a personal relationship with God, just go to KnowGod.org. How to Do Marriage Right | Sunday Message

Hear what Pastor Greg Laurie has to say about doing marriage God’s way! Husbands, this one’s especially for you! Notes A successful marriage is a total commitment. Wedlock should be a padlock. 1. God created marriage. Before God created the church, before God created the state, before God created the school, God created marriage. As marriage goes, so goes the family. As the family goes, so goes the nation. Satan hates what God loves. And the man said, “This is now bones of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, for she was taken out of man.” —Genesis 2:23 The Garden of Eden was perfection. Some are called to singleness, and for them, friendship can fill this gap. Neither Jesus nor Paul the apostle were married. 2. To have a marriage that works, requires you to do two essential things: leave and cleave. The Hebrew word for leave is often translated as “abandon.” The Hebrew word for cleave means, “to glue, to cling.” Companion: One you are united with in thoughts, goals, plans, and efforts. To dwell means, “to be aligned to or give maintenance to.” Keep working on, maintaining, cultivating, and strengthening your marriage, because the moment you stop progressing, you potentially start regressing. 3. Men hold the key to a happy and working marriage. Note: Paul takes more time and gives more space to what he says to the husband than he does the wife. A successful marriage is not about finding the right person; it is being the right person. 4. Doing marriage right requires constant communication. “A good marriage consists of two good forgivers.” —Ruth Graham “Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” —Proverbs 31:28 5. Doing marriage right comes back to a commitment you reaffirm every day. Marriage is tough. Dating reveals the best of you. Marriage reveals the worst of you. 6. We need the power of the Spirit to be a good spouse. The filling of the Holy Spirit will empower you to be a Godly spouse. The wife cannot submit to her husband without the filling of the Holy Spirit. If you are a Spirit-filled person, you will be a submitting person. If you are a Spirit-filled person, you will think of others over yourself. Wives are called to submit to the loving leadership of their husbands. Husbands are to bow to the needs of their wives. It’s not about you; it’s about your mate. Most marriages fail because of selfishness. Note: God uses marriage as a picture of His love for us. Jesus came to the earth and died for your sins; He will forgive you. Scripture Referenced Malachi 2:14 1 Peter 3:7 --- Learn more about Greg Laurie and Harvest Ministries at harvest.org. Which Side Are You On? | Warning Against Idolatry

We throw the word idol around pretty freely in our culture. “So-and-so is a teen idol” . . . “did you watch American Idol?” . . . “Humphrey Bogart was a matinee idol.” But, biblically speaking, an idol is a representation or symbol of an object of worship. “Where Our Focus Should Be” | Today's Daily Devotion from Greg Laurie

In this episode, we’re featuring the audio version of Pastor Greg’s daily devotion. You can get daily emails of this devotion delivered directly to your inbox when you sign up at https://harvest.org/resources/devotions/ or through the Harvest App, available for Android and iOS. --- Where Our Focus Should Be So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him, ‘Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?’ (Acts 1:6) After His resurrection, Jesus said to His disciples, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8 NLT). This statement was prompted by the following question from the disciples: “Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?” (verse 6 NLT). The disciples thought that the Messiah, Jesus, had come to establish the Kingdom of God on Earth. This was why it seemed like a mistake when He was crucified. But as the Scriptures foretold, the Messiah would come first to suffer and die for the sins of the world. Then He would return to Earth and establish His Kingdom therein. Jesus told them, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know” (verse 7 NLT). In other words, “Guys, will you get over this already? I’m not going to establish My earthly kingdom right now. That will come later. Stop focusing on when I’ll return and instead focus on what you are to do until I return.” Today, there are still people asking when Jesus is coming back. And an occasional misguided person will say they know the date of Christ’s return. But Jesus said, “No one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows” (Matthew 24:36 NLT). Our focus, therefore, should be on what we’re supposed to do while we await Christ’s return. The early Church had a job to do, and so do we. Jesus’s words in Acts 1 were not only for the first-century believers. He is still calling us to tell people everywhere about Him.Support the show: https://bit.ly/anbsupportSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

You’ve Got a Friend | Sunday Message

When it comes to our relationships, we should each ask, “Am I doing this right?” And we should turn to God for the answer. Kicking off a relevant series on relationships, Pastor Greg Laurie explores what the Bible says about godly friendships. Notes In a culture that is redefining everything, we need to go to God’s original plan. A friendship is made up of two people committing themselves to one another. Jesus said, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” We need Godly friendships. You become like the people you spend the most time with. Show me your friends, and I will show you your future. Some people bring joy wherever they go. Some people bring joy whenever they go. Which person are you? “There are friends that destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.” —Proverbs 18:24 Look for godly people to be your closest friends. If your friend has no relationship with God, and they are dragging you down, then it could be time to part company. Give serious consideration about who you want to be your friends. Friends matter because you will influence them as they will influence you. As friends, we need to encourage one another, not discourage others. True friends support each other through thick and thin. A friend can help you through the hard times. True friends share their burdens with each other. True friends tell each other the truth. A true friend will tell you when you’re doing the wrong thing, too. “A true friend always stabs you in the front.” —Oscar Wilde True friends resolve their conflicts. “Envy grows naturally in a relationship between equals.” —Aristotle Envy has been described as a small town sin that breeds on proximity. “The wicked envy and hate; it is their way of admiring.” —Victor Hugo Once you have had your disagreement, try to find a resolution. Fight to resolve, not to win. If you go into to win, you lose, even if you win. Try out these eight words that you should be willing to say everyday: “I’m sorry,” “Please forgive me,” and “I love you.” Jesus is the perfect friend. True friends of Jesus obey Him continually. True friends of Jesus obey God in even the smallest matters. Do you have a relationship with God? Jesus is much more than a friend; He is also a Savior. Christ’s Call to Courage | Speaking Up for Truth

Many people feel they just can’t function in the morning with their cup of coffee. But, long ago, coffee met with grumpy, nearly global opposition for hundreds of years (They were grumpy ‘cause they hadn’t had their coffee). People oppose lots of things, but then come to embrace them warmly. And today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out how we need to realize that people need the message we share, and we need to find the courage to share it even in the face of opposition. How to Live a Meaningful Life | Spirit of Generosity

Wouldn’t it be a remarkable world if everyone tried to out-give one another? If we saw someone in need, we automatically took care of it. We were always looking for ways to help. But we don’t live in a culture of givers, it seems like we live in a culture of takers. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us see how a spirit of generosity is part of the prescription for living a more meaningful life. It’s Time for Another Jesus Revolution! | Sunday Message

What does it take for God to turn around an entire generation? The answer may be closer to home than you think. In this special message, Pastor Greg Laurie gives reasons to hope for another spiritual awakening in your lifetime—and shares how you can play a part. Notes America is at a crossroads right now. We are seeking to redefine what God has defined. We are sowing the wind and reaping the whirlwind. The seeds we sowed in the ‘60s have become a crop of destruction today. This younger generation is looking for answers. Today’s younger generation needs help! God sent a spiritual awakening before, and we want this next generation to have one too! “Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You?” —Psalm 85:6 Our responsibility is to tell the next generation what God did for us. Revolution means, “upheaval” and “change”; it also means “turning around” or “rotating.” It’s returning to something. America has never been more divided. God says the source of the problems is His house, the church! An earmark of the Jesus Movement: The Holy Spirit was at work in our lives. An earmark of the Jesus Movement: There was a belief in the soon return of Jesus. Jesus has given us an unprecedented open door. We need to look for open doors to share our faith. We should never put a wall up where God has opened a door. God has given us the power and resources we need. We need to keep God’s Word and not deny His name. Open your heart and life to the work of the Holy Spirit. Be ready for the Lord’s imminent return. Walk through the doors God opens for you and take risks. Keep His Word and be faithful. How to Live a Meaningful Life | Giving It Your All

How to Reach Our Culture with The Gospel | Finding the Right Approach

As believers who want to share our faith, sometimes it would seem we’re attempting to deliver a message that many people just don’t want to hear. They think they don’t NEED to hear it. The truth is, everyone needs the hope of Jesus Christ. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie reminds us that God built us with a hunger for God. The Foolish Wise Man | Sunday Message

How can I serve God? That’s a question every Christian should ask themselves. As Pastor Greg Laurie says, every Christian is called to serve Him—and it should be our greatest joy. See what other insightful comments he has in this special message. Notes “For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his generation, fell asleep.” —Acts 13:36 To fall asleep means, “to die.” A long life is not the objective; fulfilling God’s purpose for your life is. 1. Focus on what God has given you, not on what He did not give you. One day, we too will give our final words. 2. Have an intimate relationship with God. 3. Serve God with a whole heart and willing mind—a person who really knows God will want to serve God. “The joy of the Lord is your strength!” —Nehemiah 8:10 Every Christian is called to serve God. 4. Put God first in your life and everything else will find its proper order. Prayer is about getting our will in alignment with God’s Will. God answered Solomon’s prayer and gave him great wisdom. Solomon compromised his relationship with God. Solomon disobeyed God’s commandments and married a nonbeliever. It’s much harder to pull someone up than it is for them to pull you down. Solomon compromised his morality. In Hebrew, to seek and explore means, “to investigate the roots of a matter.” Solomon looked to the pursuit of knowledge without God. After many years wasted, Solomon finally came to his senses. Solomon warned others to not make the same mistake (Ecclesiastes 12:1). The end of a life is known by its beginning, and the evening by the morning of it. If you leave God out of the picture, your life is going to be empty, meaningless, and futile. Before you know it, you, like Solomon, will have more life behind you than before. You have two major dates in your life: Your date of birth and date of death. “Four Warnings and a Promise” | Sunday Message (with Pastor Jonathan Laurie)

How important are our choices? When we look back at David’s failures, we get the answer: very important. In this Sunday episode, special guest Pastor Jonathan Laurie reminds us that our actions not only impact us, but also our children. With them, we lay their foundation. Tune in to see how you can ensure it’s a sturdy one! Notes The way we walk matters. “The chastening hand of a loving heavenly Father is a very different thing from the judging hand of a holy God.” —Alan Redpath The choices we make matter. 1. The Death of David and Bathsheba’s First Son The hope of Heaven guarantees a reunion. 2. The Rape of Tamar Monogamy is God’s original and best design. We cannot pretend that our actions do not affect those around us. When you engage in sin, it is easy to see the same sin in others, but hard to correct. 3. The Murder of Amnon 4. The Rebellion and Death of Absalom Then Joab came to Absalom at his house and demanded, "Why did your servants set my field on fire?" —2 Samuel 14:31–33 So Joab told the king what Absalom had said. Then at last David summoned Absalom, who came and bowed low before the king, and the king kissed him. Our actions today lay the foundation upon which our children and our descendants will build their lives. The Promise: God does not just sweep life away; instead, He devises ways to bring us back when we have been separated from Him. The God of Second Chances | Sunday Message

Have you ever thought your sin was so horrible that there was no coming back? Pastor Greg Laurie has good news for you: God gives second chances. In this Sunday episode, hear the story of a man who fell away from God and was in need of forgiveness. Notes “My heart is fixed; my heart is fixed, O Lord.” —Psalm 57:7 The actual sin David committed lasted only a minute, but the repercussions of his sin lasted the rest of his life. “Let him that thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.” —1 Corinthians 10:12 David’s fall came after great spiritual success. The sins we commit today may come back to haunt us tomorrow. 2 Samuel 5 tells us David took concubines, after he became king, in direct disobedience to God. You do not feed lust; you starve it! David was sleeping when he should have been fighting. Our greatest battles do not necessarily come when we are working hard; they often come when we have some leisure time on our hands and when we are bored. When deluded by sin, we do not think clearly because sin makes us stupid. Instead of confessing, David tried to hide his sin. “The thing that David had done displeased the Lord!” —2 Samuel 11:27 Psalm 32 describes the futility and misery of sin that is unconfessed. God disciplines those He loves. We have ourselves to blame when we fall into sin. There is only one correct response to being caught in sin: “I have sinned!” When David was confronted about his sin, he repented. When King Saul was confronted about his sin, he got worse. Despite David’s sin, he was given a second chance in life. Bathsheba made it into the Messianic line of Jesus Christ.
