164. Rapid Transformational Therapy with Marisa Peer
Therapy is about understanding yourself and changing behaviors, but Marisa Peer, world-renowned speaker, Rapid Transformational Therapy trainer, and bestselling author, is a great believer that you can't change what you don't understand. We live in a fast world and people are no longer willing to go and spend a year talking about a symptom when they can use the technique that can show them the cause of the symptom and removing it. Marisa says her therapy and most hypnotherapies is about finding out why you do something and simultaneously stopping it, whereas conventional therapies really just talk about it for a long time with the idea that they might find out why you do it and they might stop it, but they might not. Marisa says people are saying your mind's job is to make you happy. Unfortunately, it isn't. Your mind's job is to keep you alive, and so the only way your mind can work out what's going on with you is by the way you talk to yourself. The way we think and feel about anything is down to two things - the pictures we make in our head and the words we say to ourselves. If you can just take control of the words, then the pictures tend to follow.

140. Reining in Your Reactivity with Kabbalah with David Ghiyam
Join me and David Ghiyam in a deeply spiritual episode that will dive into such topics as clairvoyance, reactivity, desire, mercy, and so much more. David is a senior lecturer at The Kabbalah Centre as well as the founder of MaryRuth Organics. David is full of powerful age-old wisdom that has changed my life, and that I hope and believe will change yours too. Find Out More About David Here: David Ghiyam at The Kabbalah Center David Ghiyam on Twitter David Ghiyam on Facebook David Ghiyam on Instagram David Ghiyam on LinkedIn In This Episode: [01:34] - Let's talk about Kabbalah! David explores what the light is before clarifying the difference between the light of wisdom and the light of mercy. [04:11] - David clarifies that the only way that someone can reveal the light of mercy is to overcome their nature, not just to do good deeds. [07:44] - The light of the creator has all of the types of pleasures and fulfillments that we're looking for within it, David explains. [10:17] - Stephan takes a moment to give a specific example to clarify what it means to give proactively without expectations. [11:57] - David differentiates the kind of prayers that are typical (like praying for health and financial abundance) from praying for things like certainty and desire. [17:34] - We should be excited about finding a negative attribute ourselves because we can now fix the problem and expand our vessel. [18:24] - David talks about the various aspects of ego. He then digs deeper into pride specifically. [21:28] - As long as we follow the steps that Kabbalah outlines for us, we'll know how to handle any challenge that we face. [25:15] - David talks about the Ana b'Koach prayer and the role it plays as a tool. [27:58] - We hear about the concept that truth before mercy creates chaos, which led Stephan to make a lot of changes. [31:25] - Stephan gives an example from his own life that illustrates the importance of coming at something with mercy instead of just truth. [33:34] - If you eat meat with consciousness, prayer, and gratitude for the animal, then that elevates the animal's soul. David points out that just about everything that you do needs to have this kind of consciousness. [36:31] - David talks more about the Bible, the Zohar, and how they relate to everything he and Stephan have been discussing. [38:01] - We learn about the tree of life and the tree of knowledge. [40:05] - David stumbled on financial success early, and talks about how this experience propelled him to learn the system and wisdom of the Kabbalah. 134. The Spiritual Underpinnings of Financial Success with Rabbi Daniel Lapin
Rabbi Daniel Lapin is here to talk about the fascinating connection between spirituality and financial abundance. These things may not immediately seem connected, but as you'll hear, they're intimately related. If you want to have financial abundance, the trick isn't to want money itself. You need to create an environment in which you enter into mutually beneficial situations. Rabbi Lapin will share his deep and powerful insight into how matters of the spirit relate to finances, and offer solid advice for how to achieve financial fulfillment. Find Out More About Daniel Here: Rabbi Daniel Lapin Rabbi Daniel Lapin on Facebook @DanielLapin on Twitter In This Episode: [01:55] - Daniel talks about the intersection of finance and spirituality, because people tend to treat them as completely separate. [24:21] - How would Daniel define prosperity? In his answer, he points out that wealth and poverty are terms that make sense for animals, but not for human beings, because they're relative terms. [29:05] - We hear Daniel's thoughts on the differentiation between tithing and giving to the homeless. [30:56] - Daniel shares a question that someone asked him about the most beneficial way of distributing money. [33:14] - Where does the 10% number for tithing come from? [34:40] - We learn about Daniel's ten commandments for making money in a sustainable way that benefits others. 133. Dancing With Your Fears with Kristen Ulmer
In this transformational conversation with Kristen Ulmer, you'll learn how to dance with your fears. You'll learn how to talk to your feelings of fear in a way that honors yourself instead of rejecting part of yourself. Kristen is a true expert on fear. She was recognized as the best female big mountain extreme skier in the world for twelve years and was voted the most fearless woman athlete in North America. As you'll learn, though, she isn't fearless. Instead, she knows how to appreciate fear in a healthy, productive way. Find Out More About Kristen Here: Kristenulmer.comKristen Ulmer on FacebookKristen Ulmer on Instagram In This Episode: [02:17] - What was Kristen's impetus to write about fear? She answers, then addresses how she balances fear and flow. [06:18] - Kristen addresses the question of what unraveled for her after ten years of ignoring fear. [10:33] - "Whatever you won't look at is the key to freedom," Kristen explains as she discusses what she did after having her revelation about fear. [11:54] - What's the process for repairing your relationship with fear? In her answer, she lists four distinctly different ways that people deal with fear. [16:14] - Kristen discusses what she would say to someone who argues that lots of what we fear will never come to pass, so fear is a waste of energy. [18:53] - We hear more about the significance of Kristen's analogy of fear being locked away in the basement. [21:15] - Whatever fear feels, you feel, Kristen points out. Whatever you feel toward fear, you also feel toward yourself. [24:14] - Kristen gives an example of how she tries to talk to fear now, instead of telling it that she hates it and wants it gone. [25:58] - Stephan takes a moment to share his experience with tapping and how it allowed him to do things that he had previously felt too much fear about. [28:00] - Tapping is great and successful for getting you through a difficult moment, Kristen explains. She then offers a healthier alternative that doesn't suppress fear or push it off to deal with later. [33:28] - Stephan shares his reactions to the tool or strategy that Kristen has just suggested, comparing it to the concept of letting the tiger devour you. [35:44] - Our language is important in how we look at fear, Kristen explains. [38:48] - Is Susan Jeffers' message about "feel the fear and do it anyway" is in conflict with what Kristen is saying, or is it part of the same message? [39:50] - Kristen explains why it's important to feel your fear instead of think about your fear, or even think about feeling your fear. [44:29] - Most people who come across as fearless, or who are doing big things in their lives, are blocking out their fear. Kristen reiterates that this only works for about ten years. [47:03] - Kristen points out that fear lies behind many different shadow voices, such as guilt, unworthiness, and shame. [49:19] - What are some exercises that Kristen would recommend to help people stay meta-aware when it comes to fear? [52:03] - Fear isn't what holds you back; it's your resistance to fear, or your unwillingness to feel it, that holds you back. Stephan then shares his own experience with the power of words. [55:09] - In response to Stephan's story about his stem cell procedure, Kristen shares the only experience with doing the procedure without anesthesia. 131. Unlock the Secrets of Your Soul with Eliyahu Jian
Eliyahu Jian was my very first Kabbalah teacher. He's been teaching for nearly three decades, and has developed an uncanny ability to simplify esoteric wisdom. In addition to being a spiritual teacher, he's a coach, speaker, and founder of the nonprofit Vital Transformation. The mind is split into two parts: the positive and the negative. Whatever you feed grows stronger, and it takes a lifetime of work to ensure that negative thoughts don't take over. You need to act on positive thoughts or they will eventually become rotten. This is just one of many gems of wisdom from Kabbalah that can transform your life. Find Out More About Eliyahu Here: Vital Transformation Eliyahu Jian Eliyahu Jian on Facebook @eliyahujian on Twitter Eliyahu Jian on LinkedIn In This Episode: [01:32] - We start things off with a very simple question: what's the meaning of life? [02:57] - Eliyahu talks more about body consciousness as opposed to soul consciousness. [05:03] - We hear about the deeper implications of the fact that we don't have free will about what thoughts come into our minds. [06:56] - Many people who struggle in life are actually struggling with their own minds, Yehuda explains. [08:28] - Eliyahu shares the parable of two wolves, illustrating the importance of feeding positive thoughts. [11:48] - With every new president that's elected, Eliyahu points out, people have hope that their lives will get better. This takes away their free will. [15:51] - When we look at a historical great leader, such as Gandhi, they were a personification of the collective consciousness. Stephan and Eliyahu discuss this concept, as well as the concept of saviors. [21:25] - Stephan talks about an example he experienced of a time when he resolved a conflict with light instead of by locking horns. [23:25] - Eliyahu shares his thoughts and wisdom on the example that Stephan has just shared. [25:40] - If you're experiencing a lack or a void, doesn't that awaken or attract more lack and more voids in other areas? [28:36] - Stephan shares a story that Ephraim Olschewski told about what he asks his kids when they're unhappy about something. [30:26] - Eliyahu elabores on the Kabbalistic concept of creating negative angels. [33:47] - Stephan brings up the role of numerology in Kabbalah. [34:52] - We hear about the concept of the evil eye, and how it's related to jealousy. The question of "how many," Eliyahu explains, creates the evil eye. [40:18] - Eliyahu moves on from the topic of the evil eye to the concept of evil speech. [44:47] - Stephan describes a point that has been one of the cornerstones of his spiritual development in recent years: restriction. [46:53] - Eliyahu discusses a lesson he learned while he was working in a rehab in Florida for two years. [49:12] - We hear a specific example to clarify what Eliyahu has been saying about restriction. Stephan then shares an example of his own to illuminate how this concept has improved his life. [43:50] - Jacob had panic attacks for six and a half years, but got rid of them using the techniques he has been describing. [46:07] - Stephan works to evolve meta-awareness, or awareness of his awareness. Jacob then digs deeper into this concept, elaborating on what Stephan has said. [53:02] - Jacob uses the example of a TV to explain his point in more detail, clarifying that just as we're not the TV we're watching, the observer is not the activity that is being noticed occurring in the mind. [60:46] - What Jacob has been saying about direct experiences rings true for Stephan, who offers an example. [64:13] - Jacob digs into something that Stephan said about "truth without mercy." We'll spend quite a bit of time digging into the fascinating strengths of personality assessments, and why you (and just about everyone in your life) should take them. We also cover imposter syndrome, disempowering beliefs, sleep hacks, kinds of light, health gadgets, and so much more! In our more recent conversation, we discussed extreme biohacking, spirituality, and how this combination can lead to a higher level of consciousness. He's the #1 bestselling author of books including What They Teach You at the Wharton Business School and Speaking Game: 7-Figure Speaker Secrets Revealed. So far, he hasn't needed to pay that out to anybody. [21:55] - Clint points out that his program is Celebrity LaunchPad, meaning it's the beginning of your journey as a celebrity. [23:01] - No matter how big an introvert you are, you still have to talk about people. Clint makes this point while talking about speaking and how to become a better speaker. [26:12] - Clint has put together a list of five things you should never say if you want to make more money, and one of five things you should always say if you want to make more money. He launches into these tricks. [29:06] - What Clint has been saying reminds Stephan of how many times J.K. Rowling got rejected before the Harry Potter series found a publisher. [29:20] - The third thing you should never say is "I would've/should've/could've." Clint then describes why it's so important not to offer discounts. [34:24] - Bartering is terrible and Clint has only had horrible results from it. [35:18] - Clint discusses talking about these five things you should never say on TV shows. He then launches into the five things you should always say if you want to make more money. [38:47] - Stephan recommends an earlier episode of the Optimized Geek with Ross Jeffries. Stephan then expands on the larger idea of not compromising your values. 126. Finding a Higher Level Consciousness Through Extreme Biohacking and Spirituality, Part 1 of 2 with Luke Storey
Luke Storey joins me in an episode that is a fascinating combination of biohacking and spirituality. We'll talk about both extreme higher-level consciousness topics as well as extreme self-experimentation. Because we are fundamentally unable to access ultimate truth, we shouldn't think of our beliefs as true or false. Rather, we should view our beliefs as either empowering or disempowering. Choosing empowering beliefs leads to an empowered life! This is one of my favorite episodes, and I think it'll be one of your favorites too! Find Out More About Luke Here: Luke Storey @MrLukeStorey on Twitter Luke Storey on Instagram Luke Storey on YouTube @MrLukeStorey on Facebook Luke Storey on LinkedIn In This Episode: [02:23] - Luke talks about how he and Stephan met, which was by being part of Neil Strauss' mastermind The Society. Stephan then talks about how he got involved in the group. [07:14] - The weekend at the intensive Luke has been talking about was the catalyst to Luke living what he believes is his true purpose. [11:09] - We hear about Luke's shift away from fashion, which he did for 17 years. In hindsight, he can't believe he didn't quit much sooner. [15:08] - Stephan talks about the importance of getting the right wardrobe and understanding basic fashion principles, using himself as an example of a transformation. [16:33] - Luke isn't quite sure how to categorize himself or what to call himself, since he works in the health, wellness, and biohacking space but is more deeply invested in the inner work of spiritual growth and learning spiritual principles. [20:16] - Luke still does some consulting in terms of personal style. [22:32] - We learn that Stephan had a moment of realization at a Tony Robbins event when he participated in the fire walk. [25:52] - Luke responds to the way Stephan has been framing a particular concept. He likes the idea of keeping most of one's attention in the stillness and present moment, while staying a little bit grounded. [27:59] - Stephan recommends setting aside the desire to seek the Truth, and instead focusing on what is empowering (rather than disempowering). He and Luke then talk about the benefit of going for what yields results. [31:04] - Luke discusses the polarization of the world and our culture. He also points out the importance of being able to admit it and adjust when you've been wrong about something. [34:41] - Stephan responds to Luke's points with a quote from Dan Sullivan. [36:00] - Recently, Luke listened to Jack Canfield on Oprah's podcast. He shares his thoughts on Jack Canfield, including his brief thought of wondering why Jack still works so hard when he must be very financially well-off. [39:36] - After having talked about recycling, Luke points out that he feels guilty about not having a good system for recycling used electronics and batteries. [40:44] - Stephan shares a story that Tony Robbins tells about deciding who was going to pay for a meal. [43:08] - Luke doesn't know a lot about Kabbalah, but was very struck by the book Becoming Like God by Michael Berg. [46:29] - For the last part of the episode, we move onto the topic of biohacking. Luke digs into the topic of EMFs and offers advice on how to minimize your exposure. [51:48] - Stephan started taking EMFs seriously at the recent Bulletproof Conference after he saw how dedicated Dr. Mercola is to avoiding them. [52:48] - Luke shares more of his thoughts on EMFs, including that in this age you'll inevitably be exposed to some of them. He also describes more habits he's changed to minimize his exposure. [05:01] - When did Lawrence start practicing tantra with other people, as in tantric sex? [07:24] - Lawrence discusses what tantra is, and how you can use it to take normal sex to a whole new level. [10:21] - Stephan talks about his interview with Jaiya on this podcast, relating some points he learned from her to what Lawrence has been saying. [12:27] - What's the framework that underpins tantra, and why does that framework work so well for so many people? [16:33] - The reason Lawrence feels so strongly about this is that after traveling the world teaching, he has discovered that people always have questions about tantra, no matter where in the world he is. [18:38] - Lawrence's experience is that most people are unable to articulate their fantasies to their partner, or to share them openly. He then discusses why so much of our sexual exploration in our culture is related to porn. [21:04] - Lawrence's views on porn aren't black and white, he explains, and in certain situations it can be a good choice. Stephan then talks about the ways in which porn can be problematic. [26:12] - We hear about what it means to be turned on and existing in that state without just rushing for the ejaculation. A natural consequence of this, Lawrence explains, is foreplay. [28:42] - Stephan talks about the fact that pornography is two-dimensional and performance-based, not reality. [31:20] - Lawrence compares tantra to a college class that you actually get to have fun studying. [31:55] - One of the exercises Lawrence recommends is taking the time to slow down and create safe space with your partner. [35:29] - For a lot of people, Lawrence explains, the issue is accepting that pleasure is okay. [36:25] - Lawrence talks about multiple orgasms for men. [39:56] - The first step is understanding what is possible in terms of expanding pleasure and your runway. [43:15] - Stephan points out that this isn't about being hedonistic, but rather that it's sacred. He recommends listeners check out his conversation with Dr. Pat Allen. [45:34] - Lawrence talks about how the chakras relate to tantric sex. They're a metaphor for understanding or thinking about energy, he explains. [51:33] - Lawrence discusses connecting sexual energy all the way from the root to the brain and the crown. [53:00] - Stephan talks about an exercise that he did, similar to the energy work Lawrence has been talking about. [54:34] - What are Lawrence's thoughts on squirting? It's not about the physical act, he explains, so much as what goes into allowing that to happen. [57:50] - How can people reach Lawrence?
