06: The Mind-Muscle Connection + Coaching Cues, Hard to Kill Methodology, and Dia De Los Muertos
Hey all! This week we start off by wrapping up our Memorial day MURPH weekend. The study we get into this week is the on the mind-muscle connection. Are internal or external cues better for lifting? Which to use when? and how results can be impacted by these. Then we go over what i means to be Hard to Kill and how our training covers all of the energy systems to make yourself hard to kill. Does your routine only use a couple of these? Do you want to be hard to kill?.. Lastly, the workout for this week is Dia De Los Muertos!
05: Is cold exposure worth it?, Recovery 201, and What the RUCK!?
Hey Athletes! This week we are talking a lot about recovery. The study we dive into compares recovery efficiency comparing cold water immersion and cryotherapy. But is there a 3rd option that is even better? Then we talk about our own recovery metrics, tips, tricks and how to read and act according to our recovery data. Finally this weeks workout is What The Ruck?!
04: How Mental Training Increases Gains, The Fat Loss-Muscle Gain Checklist, and MURPH
This week on the podcast we dive into a study that included mental training and visualization for some awesome results across the board. We also dive in to achieving the goal that the majority of athletes and people workout out want, go gain muscle and lose fat. How to succeed in that, is it possible, and how to go about it. Then lastly, Its been MURPH time for us all year long, but a ton of people around the world are about to do MURPH workout for their one time this year so we talk about best strategies and lessons learned.
03: Are supplements all in our head?, Knowing the 'why' behind your training, and DiCarlo
Hey athletes! This week we start off by talking about working out and doing MURPH at elevation. Then for this weeks study we are talking about how necessary supplements are (or rather arent) and the placebo effect around supplements. For our topic we wanted to dive into knowing the why behind what your doing for your workout. Usually when we talk about the 'why' its on the goal side but for this we are talking about stimulus and whether you are executing each movement to its desired intent or scaling appropriately to get the effect of the workout you are supposed to verses just doing something to do something. Lastly, our workout this week is a tough one on many levels. One of our athletes, Anne DiCarlo, passed away from leukemia so this workout has been created and dedicated to her.
02: Training to Live Longer (while being a badass), Fitness Pacing, and Sally's Revenge
Hey Athletes! This week we talk about a study that compared strength gains while doing either exclusively strength exercise or doing both strength and conditioning. There isn't a great strength difference but there is a great overall health difference. We also talk about pacing during workouts, cycles and achieving your goals. Going full ham isn't always the way to go. And our workout for this week is "Sallys Revenge."
