Ep 491EFR 491: How to Make a Career Pivot to Pursue Your True Passion with Sean and Dala McDevitt
Up till only a few years ago, Sean and Dala McDevitt never saw themselves leading a fast-growing community of wellness enthusiasts with 19 coaches on staff that has led to over 2800 people completely transforming their lives. The couple had always had a passion for health and fitness (they actually met at a gym) even back when they worked traditional jobs (Sean was in sales and marketing, and Dala was a labor and delivery nurse). In 2016, Dala set up her Instagram profile @dalalovesdumbbells to share how she found and healed herself through fitness, with the hope of inspiring and elevating others as well. Monetizing the brand was not on her radar; that is, until her budding community began referring to themselves with the hashtag #DLDNation. Two years later, Sean and Dala decided to quit full-time employment to fully dedicate themselves to #DLDNation. There was nothing easy about both Sean and Dala leaving their traditional career and plunging headfirst into the world of entrepreneurship; specifically in the health and wellness coaching space. What's more, neither Sean nor Dala were "certified" trainers or nutritionists. Listen in as the McDevitts go down memory lane and speak on lessons learned since their life-changing decision to become online trainers exclusively through the #DLDNation brand, including how they navigated the many challenges of running a coaching business brought on by the pandemic. Ep 490EFR 490: Breaking the Cannabis Stigma and Achieving Homeostasis with Plant Medicine with John Malanca
John Malanca was inspired to start United Patients Group in 2011 after a totally unexpected episode when his father-in-law Stan was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer along with a brain tumor on his brain stem. The situation seemed hopeless, seeing their father going from being a seemingly healthy 77-year-old one day, to being given a mere two weeks to live the next. "When you're diagnosed," says John, recalling those moments of desperation, "you'll try anything." That "anything", as fate would have it, was cannabis. They started by giving Stan THC capsules infused with coconut oil in order to get him to start eating again. It worked. A day later, he was back at work on a computer. Nine months after the diagnosis, John's family got an email that simply stated "no evidence of recurrent disease." That was in 2011. Today, Stan is alive and well. Listen in as John shares the exciting journey that emerged out of that harrowing experience. He describes the many benefits of the cannabis plant and, by extension, naturopathic modalities, and how these can help bring the body back to homeostasis. Ep 489EFR 489: Why Male Fertility is Radically Declining, Sperm Testing, and How to Preserve Your Legacy with Khaled Kteily
"I don't know any guy who grew up dreaming of starting a male fertility company," says today's guest, Khaled Kteily, before proceeding to share the story of why he, in fact, decided to do just that. "There are moments in your life that sometimes take you down unexpected paths." Khaled's own unexpected path began with a freak accident in Tulsa, Oklahoma during his time as a health and life sciences consultant. One day, after a coffee run during a road trip with colleagues, the car was forced to do a sudden break, causing the scalding hot beverages to spill all over Khaled's lap. His skin was ripped clean off and he suffered second-degree burns that took a month-and-a-half to heal. Months later, a close friend of Khaled's found out he had cancer, and so he froze his sperm before beginning a chemotherapy process that would likely leave him infertile. Inspired, Khaled visited a sperm bank to do the same. Frustrated by the awkward and clinical process involved in sperm freezing, alongside the alarming lack of conversations around declining male fertility rates, Khaled sought to make a change. This was the spark that led to the founding of Legacy in 2018 and its release of the first product which allows men to test and freeze their sperm in the comfort of their own home, and obtain personalized recommendations based on their results. They also offer advice on communicating with a partner who gets out of hand or is acting inappropriately in a social setting, whether their behavior is a one-off or has been recurring for quite some time. Ep 484EFR 484: Natural Ways to Improve Your Balance, Performance, Recovery, and Sleep with Matt Lombardi and Kevin Moran of beam
Born from the aches and pains that come with the territory for every professional athlete, Beam was co-founded by Matt Lombardi and Kevin Moran. As avid crossfit competitors, ironman triathletes, marathoners, the two decided to search high and low for an all-natural remedy that met their personal wellness standards. Their choice? CBD. In this conversation, Matt and Kevin go in-depth on what they call the "Beam 4"—the four pillars of health embodied by the Beam brand. These are balance, performance, recovery, and sleep. The Beam 4 was conceived out of the desire to cater to the needs of both professional athletes and the general wellness consumer. Listen in as Matt and Kevin explain how they developed Beam's current lineup of products. Some of the topics we cover include how they collect and interpret data, both quantitatively and qualitatively, to improve the efficacy of Beam's sleep product, dream; how the focus, elevate, and clarity, products boost your energy without the crash; and why they decided to separate "recovery" and "sleep" into two different categories. Ep 483EFR 483: How Your Darkest Days Can Be Your Catalyst for a New Identity with Taylor Ellis
Every single one of our habits, good and bad, spring out of a thought process that has been (and continues to be) molded and shaped by how we interpret our day-to-day experiences. If we want to change any negative aspect of our lives, whether it be around our physical or mental health, how we communicate with others, or manage our time or money, it all starts with becoming self-aware of our own deep-seated beliefs and paradigms, then reframing our interpretation of the events that formed those beliefs and paradigms. Listen in as Taylor Ellis shares how to nip destructive habits in the bud by catching negative thoughts as they come, and how to establish habits that are in alignment with the identity of the person that we want to be. She talks about her previous struggles with an eating disorder and how she turned memories of her darkest days into inspiration for a brighter tomorrow. Ep 481EFR 481: Soft Tissue Hygiene, Improving Total Body Recovery, and Disrupting the Health Technology World with Jim Huether of HyperIce
There's been a rising trend in recent years of using technology to better understand and optimize the human body. Through these tools we track, tweak, and train not only our wellness but also our ability to perform, and even use these tools as a means to increase our lifespan. We can now do all these things through the lens of the "quantified self". Today's guest explains how his company, Hyperice, has taken the tools and technologies used by the world's most elite athletes and brought them to the masses to help them "warm up quicker, recover faster, and move better." Listen in as Jim Huether shares the approach Hyperice uses to continuously develop technology in order to more precisely meet the needs of the human body as we come to better understand how it functions. In particular, he touches on their new HyperSmart ecosystem which pulls activity data from their wearable devices and provides wholly personalized recommendations based on that data. He talks about how the technology guides users toward behavior change in the most natural, human way possible, as opposed to the overly restrictive, one-size-fits-all approach that many coaches take. Ep 480EFR 480: Coming Home to Your Body, Building Healthy Relationships With Food, and the Power of Human Connection with Kara Campbell
Relationships isn't normally the first word that pops to mind when we talk about food. Today's guest illustrates what it truly means to embody our relationship with food and defines "healthy eating" in terms that go way beyond calories, macros, and choosing so-called "good" foods. When we're in tune with what we're eating, food allows us to connect to ourselves, to other people, and to the world on a visceral and emotional level. Listen in as Kara Campbell shares how she came to embrace the connective power of food at an early age, just from sitting around the table with her family at dinner time every night. She explains how this evolved into the idea that dining with others and asking intentional questions leads to friends and strangers alike mirroring pieces of themselves back to one another through conversation. She then unpacks the topic of intuitive eating and why most people fail to reconnect to their bodies and simply trust that they know what they need. Kara then talks about how her upbringing within purity culture had a profoundly negative impact on her relationship with food and why women growing up in such an environment almost always have body image issues and destructive eating habits. Finally, Kara touches on why our body is our wisest teacher and the surprising benefits beyond the physical that one experiences once they are able to repair their relationship with food. What makes a good coach? How do you know how to pick the right one? What if you view success differently when it comes to your personal health and fitness? Coaches Alyssa and Christy are both very good at what they do and how they help their clients reach their goals but how they go about doing so is drastically different. Does that make one right and one wrong? In this episode, Chase mediates between the two online coaches using input from real, live human beings that are interested in coaching (some for a repeat experience) but have reservations about what will be expected of them, what the work will look like, and what goals are realistic based on their individual needs and unique backgrounds and lifestyles. Ep 478EFR 478: From Fitness Stage to Center Stage and How Mindset Can Both Help and Hinder You with Savannah Lynx
Savannah Lynx is a singer/songwriter and fitness model. In this conversation, she discusses how she successfully made the leap from the world of pageantry into music and entertainment. Savannah reflects on how singing and performance had always been her calling. She hearkens back to her college days at Fordham, remembering that "without music as the centerpoint of my life, I really lost it. I wasn't engaged in class. I wasn't excited. I wasn't working out. It was the keystone that put my life together and made me realize who I was and who I wanted to be." At the age of 21, she was inspired—to her parents' disappointment—to put her college education on hold, fly from New York to L.A., and pursue her music career seriously. Along the way, her ever-present passion for fitness helped her win the coveted titles of Miss Las Vegas International Model Search and Miss Swimsuit USA International. Listen in as Savannah dives deep into her mindset toward success in both her career and life as a whole. Ep 471EFR 471: The Dangers of Mineral Deficiency and How to Improve Nutrient Absorption in the Body with Barton Scott
Barton Scott is a chemical engineer and nutritionist. In 2025, he founded Upgraded Formulas, a company offering a line of supplements "that are 100% bioavailable and are absorbed better by the body than any other brand on the market today." Our bodies, Barton claims, only "absorb about 25% or less" of most supplements on the market. This fact, he says, is less telling of what is and isn't in most of today's supplements and more of a reflection of how inefficient our bodies are at absorbing the nutrients in them. In fact, this inefficiency is only going to get worse for many as certain trends of modern living continue to wreak havoc on their gut health. From bad diets to excess drinking to living stressful lives, a variety of factors that too many people today are familiar with contribute to gut dysfunction. "Because of that," continues Barton, "I knew that trying to heal the gut was not going to be enough." Listen in as Barton reflects on the personal experiences which would lead to the founding of Upgraded Formulas. He also shares some hard-to-swallow pills regarding mineral deficiency and what we all need to focus on to fill common nutrient gaps. Ep 466EFR 466: Hot and Cold Therapy, Breathwork, and Mitigating Environmental Stressors with MindStrong Project
Harvey Martin and Matt Arends of the MindStrong Project speak on the modalities used at the MindStrong Project, particularly heat and cold therapy, as tools that "bring you back to yourself faster", that help anybody recover and reach a refreshed state of consciousness in the most natural way possible. Their work, ultimately, is around helping a person, through their own physiology, take control. The MindStrong Project believes in "respecting the animal" in our humanity while exercising the power that puts us at the top of the food chain, namely "advancing our cognition". As Harvey and Matt explain, advancing our cognition tends to be prioritized at the expense of respecting the animal. Their team uses the modalities that they do in response to the environmental stressors of the modern world in an effort to prepare and allow the body to recover from those stressors. The MindStrong Project was founded in 2017 to shape the world of human performance by improving the physical, mental, and emotional capacities of top performers through tried-and-tested natural breath, movement, and mindset protocols. Ep 464EFR 464: Shut Up and Sit: Finding Silence and All the Life-Changing Magic that Comes with It with Yedda Stancil
The secret to mindfulness, according to Yedda Stancil, is understanding that "beliefs are not who we are." She stresses the importance of self-awareness to be able to catch the thoughts that feed into our belief system, because our truths define neither us nor the people around us. Chase and Yedda look back on the evolution of their respective careers. They reflect on the various opportunities they've faced and the many challenges to their beliefs over time, and how these experiences gradually shaped their purpose and their truth—what Yedda calls "the awakening of my narrative." Yedda goes on to share how she works with clients looking to experience change by helping them bring to the surface those things that are already inside them—to help them realize that they are enough. Ep 463EFR 463: Pain Science and Bridging the Gap Between Muscle Therapies with Sam Visnic
Sam Visnic believes staying on the cutting edge is the key to FASTER results. Learning new techniques, research, & integrating the best approaches to both clinical massage therapy and movement re-education are essential to understanding pain. Sam is the founder of Release Muscle Therapy, where he provides pain relief through clinical massage and movement. He is also the owner of the Visnic Center For Integrated Health, whose focus is "on assisting clients with achieving the highest levels of health and vitality through an integrated approach." Sam began his career as a personal trainer at 19 during the fitness boom of the 1980s. He quickly found his niche in corrective exercise and decided to become a massage therapist subspecializing in neuromuscular therapist. He describes the trajectory of his career and his expertise in his field as ever-evolving as knowledge about the human body expands over time. He quips, "What happens is, the more you learn in this field, the more challenging your clients get." Sam explains how his approach progressed in the past two decades, from an initial perspective that was purely mechanistic in its view of the body to one that is entirely holistic—known as the Biopsychosocial model of pain assessment and treatment. His open-mindedness and relentless drive to learn as much as he can earned Sam the reputation of being the go-to guy for difficult cases among his peers. Listen in as Sam shares why developing the ability to build rapport with clients can be a game-changer for anyone in his field, why hypnotherapy is "the next thing", how your brain controls how you feel pain independent from what's actually happening to your body, and how to rewire your mind to dismantle unproductive beliefs. Ep 461EFR 461: Perform, Adapt, Evolve - The Three Pillars of Human Optimization with Jeff Byers
How do we not just train harder, but also maximize everything around it including the mind, body, and soul? This is the question that drives Jeff Byers, a former NFL player and the current CEO of Amp Human, which offers innovative products that help athletes push the limits on their performance, adaptation, and recovery. With an interest in both sports and entrepreneurship from an early age, Jeff always harbored an interest in finding creative ways to push his boundaries for growth as a human. "I was always thinking about the little things I could do to get better," he says. "I tried to use my brain to work smarter than always just work harder." After retiring from the NFL, Jeff worked for a few years in the finance space before joining an early-stage biotech startup in late 2015. This company had discovered a way to deliver pharmaceuticals through the skin, bypassing the GI system which often limits the body's ability to optimally absorb vitamins and minerals taken orally. Not long after joining the company, Jeff and one of his partners developed a broad vision for a business offering products specifically formulated to optimize human performance, a space in which they saw, at the time, a huge gap in the market. Ep 458EFR 458: Improving Metabolic Health and Potential Indicators That Your Blood Sugar Levels Are a Problem with Dr. Casey Means
Dr. Casey Means, MD is the Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer at Levels, a metabolic health company that provides individuals "real-time continuous glucose biofeedback coupled with machine-learning driven insights to inform personalized diet and lifestyle choices." Glucose, unlike other biomarkers, provides us a closed biofeedback loop which if tracked helps us make better diet and lifestyle choices on the fly. Other biomarkers, such as genetics or cholesterol, do not provide that real-time information which means we cannot track changes around them based on our nutritional and lifestyle choices on a day-to-day basis. "The beauty of glucose," says Dr. Means, "is that there are tools, right now, that can measure our glucose levels in real-time, at home, with a wearable sensor. Unlike these other variables, we can actually see how this biomarker is changing based on choices that we made five minutes ago." For several years, glucose monitors have been available as a treatment tool for diabetes. What Levels has done is take this technology to the mass consumer market to be used as a precision nutrition tool. Adam Lowry is an entrepreneur and one of the four co-founders of Sugarbreak, launched last September 2, 2020 as the first all-natural, complete solution to help reduce sugar consumption and promote healthy blood sugar management. Sugarbreak, which raised $3 million in seed funding, offers pills and tongue strips to reduce sugar cravings. A suite of products backed by science was the goal. The brand itself was built on three pillars: all-natural, proven, and measurability. Sugarbreak's marquee product is Resist, a dissolvable minty breath strip that blocks your taste buds from tasting anything sweet for about 45 minutes, curbing sugar cravings on the spot. Its key ingredient is gymnema sylvestre which makes sugar taste like "sand on your tongue". In other words, "it interrupts your ability to enjoy sweets" by "break[ing] that connection between your brain and the reward of sugar." Its other two products are Stabilize, a pre-meal capsule which helps block carbs and sugars and stabilizes post-meal sugar spikes and crashes, and Reduce, which supports consistently healthy A1c and blood glucose levels. The company was founded to support diabetics and prediabetics through a clinically-tested supplement line that supports healthy blood sugar levels. He looks at each new day as an opportunity for growth, and believes fully that he is a better man today than he was at any other point, regardless of past successes. Ep 453EFR 453: You Turn - Get Unstuck, Discover Your Direction, and Design Your Dream Career with Ashley Stahl
Ashley Stahl is a counterterrorism professional turned highly sought-after career coach, TEDx speaker, Forbes blogger, podcaster, and author. In January 2021, she published her first book, You Turn: Get Unstuck, Discover Your Direction, and Design Your Dream Career. She illustrates her approach to getting "unstuck" as traveling from one lilypad to another. The first lilypad is where most people start out: They have a dream (or at least the outline of one) but are too afraid to take the next step thanks to the myriad of what-ifs plaguing their mind. Getting over to the second lilypad is all about creating a "river channel" by figuring out your unique gift and learning how to harness your primary skillset. It's about acknowledging that the key to getting unstuck in your career is to not do what you love, but to do what you are. The third and final lilypad is "a level of dharma" achieved only after consistently putting that skillset into action. Ashley explains that "when you're vibing in the current of your gifts, what happens is, on the periphery, people start noticing where you're talented." When you work only where you thrive, and you own your unique gift, opportunities naturally arise and your career creates itself. Ashley goes on to share how to get clarity on your best career fit, uncovering your identity, nipping resentment at work in the bud and finding your purpose, and the biggest myths that keep you stuck in your career. Key Highlights Ashley explains how to get unstuck in life by hopping from the first lilypad to the second and to the third. She addresses the many challenges that everyone will encounter on their personal journey along the way. What did Ashley carry over from her previous career in intelligence into her current work as a coach? Dr. Anthony Balduzzi is a naturopathic doctor, national champion bodybuilder, and founder of the Fit Father Project and Fit Mother Project—online health and fitness communities aimed at empowering busy parents to get healthy, lose weight, and build muscle through practical nutrition and exercise plans. Seeing his father suffer through sickness and pass away at the age of 42 imprinted in young Anthony's mind that life is both finite and fragile. Being faced with mortality so early on, no less through a parent, catapulted him into the world of health and fitness. He realized, as he went down this path, that it all comes down to "how we manage our nutrition, our sleep, our movement, and our mindset." The tragic, early experience of losing his dad planted a seed within Anthony to help others like his father who were "just busy and caught in the throes of managing everything" at the expense of their healthy routines. "Health," he continues, "is often put on the backburner when we have bills and responsibilities, and I saw that happening to so many people." To this end, Dr. Balduzzi created the Fit Father Project alongside the Fit Mother Project, programs that simplify—and make sustainable—exercise and nutrition for everyday busy parents. Ep 450EFR 450: Tips to Maximize Your Workout Time With Your Significant Other with May Yazdi Chewning
May joins Chase to discuss ways to become more intentional with your time and find ways as a couple to stay on track with your physical health and wellness goals. One of the many challenges 2020 presented was very limited access to gyms and other fitness resources, especially for folks based in Los Angeles like Chase and May. It was a huge hurdle that made it harder not only to get regular workouts in, but also to stay motivated to maintain healthy eating habits. With their local F45 having opened back up recently, there's finally been some semblance of normalcy in the couple's routine. And while F45's high-intensity, circuit-based workouts aren't exactly Chase's cup of tea, the two agreed to make it a part of his routine alongside hers while waiting for other gyms to reopen. This way, each partner became accountable to each other to keep up the new shared routine. Another new relationship hack that they embraced is sharing their calendar. "It just helps so much with planning life," says Chase. "You're more mindful of your partner, too." And, adds May, it incentivizes either partner to make their daily priorities work around pre-existing tasks for the day. Liz highlights the importance and necessity of family, and how to grow and nurture your relationship with your partner and children. Liz recalls that "something was amiss" in that moment, and yet she decided she would not "stay in that spot". She knew that it was no one else's job—not even her husband's—to lift her up. It was ultimately hers and hers alone. That was the catalyst behind her mission to promote self-love for mothers everywhere. Listen in as Liz shares how it is possible for a mother to dedicate time to and nurture a deep relationship with their loved ones while chasing dreams outside of family. Ep 448EFR 448: How Music Saved My Life - The Relentless Pursuit of Life's Callings with Natascha Bessez
Natascha Bessez is an international recording artist, model, spokesperson, and former beauty queen. While her career has taken her to L.A., Natascha was born and raised in New York, where she was crowned Miss New York Teen USA at 18. She has since performed around the world with some of the biggest names in the music industry, bringing her two Billboard Top 30 dance hits along the way. Her global ambitions paved the way for the opportunity to headline Madrid's World Pride, place runner-up for Denmark's Eurovision Song Festival, compete in The Voice in Holland, and, most recently, star in The Bachelor Presents: Listen To Your Heart. Asked how she knew the career she wanted to build for herself, Natascha replies, "I think it's not something that you know. It's something that you do." With music as just one of her many passions, the last thing she wants is to be boxed in and labeled, identified only by what she happens to be most known for. "Performance is what I love the most," says Natscha. Growing up with a Chilean mother and a father of French descent exposed her to different types of music from the day she was born. That developed her love of opera as a kid. She recalls dressing up, belting out, and dancing her heart out on most of those early days. "I enjoyed being watched. I enjoyed expressing." This love for performance and expression, along with her natural sanguine personality, led Natascha to all the different creative opportunities that have come her way so far. Through it all, she strives to keep her feet planted firmly on the ground, stay true to herself, and leave a legacy to young girls looking to chart a path on their own terms. "Why would I want to do something that's not authentic to who I am? In time, you realize what you're not in order to find out what you are." Follow Natascha @nataschabessez Follow Chase @chase_chewning Key Highlights One of the most obvious threads that runs through Natascha's career is her desire to serve as a role model to girls. Ep 447EFR 447: Leading Amid Crisis and Navigating Life's Transitions with Greg Anderson
Greg Anderson is a former Law Enforcement Officer and Special Forces veteran. He caught the public eye with a viral Instagram video he posted on May 6, 2020, in which he, in full uniform, challenged the constitutionality of enforcing strict stay-at-home orders. Greg was promptly terminated. His video went on to garner millions of views and counting. Asked how the video was received, Greg says that "95% of people were supportive. Tons of police officers, too." He even got a message from a sergeant who told him that he played the video during roll call. "It's crazy," continues Greg, "how eight minutes changed the entire trajectory of my life—defined my life, really." A year following the incident, Greg says that the experience freed him from a career that, while he was thankful for, never really felt passionate about. He felt law enforcement was "a kind of natural progression" after his time in the military, and he ended up giving the profession a good eight-year run. "But it was never me. So, this forced me to step outside of that and focus on some things that I'm passionate about." Today, Greg dedicates most of his time to his Jiu-Jitsu academy and CrossFit gym, Electric North Jiu Jitsu, which he founded back in 2015. With Chase's help, through Operation Podcast, Greg also recently launched his own podcast, Endless Endeavor. That was when he sought the help of a psychologist. Recollecting the whole experience of healing, he says, "I went through a whole series of learning how to cry, learning how to communicate, learning how to speak. And I think as I got back in touch with my emotions, I think that one has me so lit up and excited to help other people go into emotional vulnerability. Some of the leadership qualities like revealing and taking emotional risks." David shares the silent symptoms of depression he had realized he was showing all the while. He says, "My body clenches up and gets really tight, probably because of emotional stuff that still isn't handled." Two compelling avenues that you can try are stillness and movement. It worked for him and would probably do so for you too! Going ahead, David shares his love for helping people reinvent and change their lives for the better. Ep 445EFR 445: Live Through Love with Ruben Rojas
"I want to see more people come from the action of using love. And again, that's from being proactive. That's finding solutions. That is, you know, listening to people, seeing them, and letting them be heard." In this episode, Chase speaks with Ruben Rojas, a Los Angeles-born artist and muralist, about his clothing line and print collection, Live Through Love, his art, and all things love. His mission is to ignite creativity and inspire others to see the world through the lens of love. Ruben is also the author of the book of the same name- Live Through Love. In this conversation today, Ruben walks us through his journey in life so far, talks about the switches he made in his career, and how he finally decided to start with his current business. He shares that art had always been a significant part of his life- he enjoyed doodling and painting back during his school days. While at college, one of his friends suggested he try real estate investment, and he went on for it. But the business took him to the extent of bankruptcy, and he put an end to it. Later, he tried his hands on investment and retirement services. That, too, did not go as expected. It took years of testing and switching careers to finally get him to start with what he has always been passionate about- art and the idea of love. In his own words, "I would say it wasn't that clear. It was like, the I never is running through quicksand. So at first, it was really, can I do this? What does this look like? Can I sustain myself? Can I build a life off of this?" The benefit Ruben says he's had in everything is he has always been self-employed. So whether it was as a personal trainer or as someone making sales commissions or in real estate, everything was still on him. He has never had a salary and never had to worry about just being comfortable in that space. Ruben's decision to take on mural gigs and mural projects happened because he wanted to know if he could make money out of that. He wanted to know if that could help him create a business and sustain something while he continued to build. A valuable takeaway is Ruben's advice on treating yourself with kindness, whether or not your choice in career gives you the anticipated success. "Maybe that wasn't your thing at the moment. And it's just another step to that next thing that actually gets you to where you need to go." Follow Ruben @rubenrojas Follow Chase @chase_chewning Key Highlights Ruben shares his backstory with us- trying and pursuing different professions before venturing into his dream business. Holding on to something that keeps you from greatness, opportunity, and believing in yourself is worthless. When you're on a service, the return is the validation and the acknowledgment you get from them. Living a life ever forward, to Ruben, means taking responsibility for your decisions and actions. If we take responsibility for our actions, no one can let us down. Knowing without doing is the same thing as not knowing. Ruben shares his thoughts on what love is and what it is not. Ep 444EFR 444: Surrendering to Our Body's Innate Wisdom Through Imagination and Altered States of Consciousness with Dr. Katelyn Dowling
"Humans are creators. But I think we've lost touch with the divine creativity that exists inside of each and every one of us because we've forgotten somehow that we are part of a larger story." Katelyn Dowling, Ph.D., is the Founder and CEO of Sustainable Self, Inc., which offers coaching and consulting services broadly within the sustainability space. She is also a sought-after speaker who covers a variety of topics from imagination and creativity to the secret superpower of your heart's electromagnetic field. Chase and Dr. Dowling discuss his personal experience undergoing The Quantum Clinic, a service offered at Sustainable Self which uses the experimental scalar energy device, the RASHA, to soften the veil between one's conscious and unconscious world. The goal of the session is to usher a person into a state of oneness, gather unique insights about themselves, and heal—all in ways that can only be achieved upon surrendering to their body's innate wisdom. On a macro level, Dr. Dowling calls for humanity to "return to indiginous ways of knowing, being, and relating to oneself and one's environment." With the planet collapsing ecologically, she believes that if more people were capable of tapping into those other centers of wisdom within their subconscious, they become more aware and, therefore, more capable of addressing urgent issues around sustainability. In fact, it was only as recently as last year, in the wake of the pandemic, when Dr. Dowling realized how serious the state of our planet truly is. She was compelled to widen the scope of her profession to encourage the "massive consciousness revolution" that is already taking place around the world. "My personal mission," says Dr. Dowling, "and the reason I started Sustainable Self, is to create greater harmony with human, natural, and technological systems. [...] How do we use things like artificial intelligence and data analytics to actually make real changes in the world—not just to develop insights, but to bring about healing?" Key Highlights Dr. Dowling describes her service offering at Sustainable Self, The Quantum Clinic, and its experimental scalar energy device, the RASHA, which allows its users to access a deep state of regeneration and self-healing. As a species, we urgently need to make the switch from an egocentric way of life to one that's more ecocentric. Dr. Dowling explains how her work ultimately aims to make more people responsible stewards of the environment. Dr. Dowling shares her goal of amplifying the "massive consciousness revolution" that is currently underway. Ep 441EFR 441: The Seasons of Nutrition and How to Turn Disease On and Off Through Our Eating Habits with Hollan Hawaii
Hollan Hawaii is a cordon bleu trained chef, health advocate, former restaurant owner, and mom of three. A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Hollan studied at Le Cordon Bleu before settling in Kauai, Hawaii where she ran the vegan restaurant Caffe Coco until the end of 2017. Today, Hollan writes on all things health and wellness. She recently published the vegan cookbook Good Food Gratitude. The journey toward the vegan lifestyle and stellar health overall wasn't an easy trek for Hollan. Over a decade ago, just shy of her 30th birthday, she was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and was warned that she had a 60% chance of developing type 2 diabetes within the next several years. Holland was also overweight and struggled with endometriosis and kidney stones. Determined to reclaim agency over her young life, Hollan changed her diet, lasting a whole day as a vegetarian before committing wholeheartedly to veganism. The results were immediate. "What I started to realize really quickly was that you can control your health—or at least your body's health—through food. I literally felt like I could turn disease on and off with what I was eating." One of Hollan's biggest revelations is that you can "turn disease on and off" depending on what you eat. After going vegan and discovering that her body functions best by adapting to different "seasons of nutrition", Hollan felt liberated knowing that she was in control of both her physical and mental wellbeing. While she is an advocate for the transformational benefits of the vegan lifestyle, Holland encourages everyone to find the nutrition protocol that works for them. Our bodies don't need a lot. We just need to give it a little change so our brain can catch up and have some of those ah-hahs.
