A Number-Crunching Look at the Music Industry
We don't think about it but the music industry plays a huge part in generating a country's economy. For Malaysia, the industry contributed between RM5.5 billion and RM6.1 billion to the GDP per year, and as a result created between 75,000 and 83,000 job opportunities per year too. These findings are based on the Economic Impact Study of the Malaysian Music Industry; a first-time study carried out by the Recording Industry Association of Malaysia, in collaboration with PwC. Malaysian Woman and Child Banned From Leaving China
A Malaysian woman, Cheng and her son, also of Malaysian citizenship, have been banned from leaving China. This comes as a result of a long and complicated child custody struggle, involving Cheng’s ex-husband, who is a Chinese national. According to reports, her ex-husband abducted their son twice. After 820 days, Cheng was reunified with her son, only to find out two days later that a travel ban had been imposed on them. Cheng's family has started a petition to get the Chinese government to address this issue.
