DATA:  https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/arti...  https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1... https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1... Today we’re going to talk about zinc and the coronavirus. Can zinc actually kill the coronavirus?  In one of my other videos, I talk about a drug called chloroquine. Chloroquine is a malaria drug. There have been derivatives of this drug used in other countries as a coronavirus treatment.  This specific drug acts as a zinc ionophore, which means it allows zinc to penetrate your cells. Once the zinc is inside of the cell, it can stop the replication of the virus.  There was a report done titled, “An effective treatment for coronavirus COVID-19.” The report summary explains that “chloroquine is showing favorable outcomes in humans infected with coronavirus including faster time to recovery and shorter hospital stays." It also “has strong potential as a prophylactic (preventative) measure in the lab, while we wait for a vaccine to be developed.” There are some credible data that shows the relationship between chloroquine allowing zinc to kill the virus or at least inactivate the virus.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Why Diabetes Makes You More Susceptible to Viruses

Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! Did you know diabetes makes you more susceptible to viruses (like COVID-19)? Find out why.  GET YOUR EATING RIGHT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMZfy... Today we’re going to talk about why diabetes can make you more susceptible to getting viruses like COVID-19. Being a diabetic actually triples the mortality rate from the COVID-19 virus.   The virus enters the cell through your own body’s receptor. This type of receptor is called the ACE2 receptor. The virus enters and starts to replicate. The more ACE2 receptors you have on your cells, the more susceptible you could be to this virus.  • Diabetics have a lot more ACE2 receptor proteins on their cells.   • People with high blood glucose have more ACE2 receptor proteins on their cells.  • People with higher amounts of insulin have more ACE2 receptor proteins on their cells. A few additional things to be aware of:  • Insulin resistance can impair your immune response to a virus.  • People with hyperglycemia (high sugar) have a decrease in neutrophils. Neutrophils eat viruses, they release anti-microbial chemicals that kill pathogens, and they use NETS to dissolve microbes with chemicals. If you don’t have enough neutrophils, your immune system is going to be compromised, and your body won’t have the weapons to fight off viruses.  If you have diabetes and you’re concerned about COVID-19 (coronavirus), you may want to consider decreasing your carbs (the healthy keto diet) and intermittent fasting. This could potentially help greatly improve diabetes and help support the immune system. There is another coronavirus treatment out there that’s being investigated. I like this coronavirus treatment. It’s actually been around for a long time. The name of it is convalescent antibody-rich plasma. The word convalescent means that you’re recovering from some type of infection.  With the convalescent antibody-rich plasma treatment, they use plasma from people who have been through the infection and fully recovered.  Plasma is rich in antibodies. People who recovered will have antibodies against COVID-19.  This treatment will actually give you the experience of someone else’s immune system without you having to go through it. It can help protect you. If you’re critically ill, you have antibodies with all of this experience that can help speed up the recovery. Are Ventilators for COVID-19 Doing More Harm than Good?

Today we’re going to talk about the coronavirus and ventilators. Could ventilators for COVID-19 do more harm than good?  A ventilator is a machine that breathes for you. It uses forced air and oxygen. New York officials have said that at least 80% of COVID-19 patients in the city who were on a ventilator died.  If someone becomes critically ill with COVID-19, they are typically sedated and put on a ventilator. This is because this coronavirus targets the lungs, and it becomes more and more difficult to breathe. But, the problem could be that in severe cases, the lung is so fragile that adding more pressure to the lung could create more damage to the lung.  It could be that this condition is less like pneumonia or ARDS and is more like high altitude sickness. It’s possible that the pressure that the ventilators are giving in this situation is too high. One doctor who is treating patients with COVID-19 in New York believes that the pressure in the ventilators used for COVID-19 needs to be turned down, and the oxygen needs to be increased.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Potassium, Muscle Strength and Exercise Endurance

Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! In this podcast, we are going to talk about potassium and how it affects your muscle strength and exercise endurance.  The first thing you need to know is that you have tiny pumps on the membranes of your cells, which are called sodium-potassium pumps. They are small protein molecules that have enzyme activity. You have billions of these, and they work 24/7.  30% of your body’s energy is allocated to these tiny pumps. So what do they do exactly? All they do is push out sodium and push in potassium. Essentially, what this does is it turns your cells into little batteries to allow the muscles to do their work.  Now, if your sodium-potassium pumps aren’t working, you’re going to feel it—you may experience weakness and a lack of endurance.  There are several things that can cause a problem with these pumps: • Low potassium diets • Inactivity • Insulin resistance/diabetes • Slow thyroid • Low magnesium • Diuretics • Too much caffeine  • Cortisol (too much stress) Start by boosting your potassium and see if your energy levels increase. In this podcast, we’re going to talk about how you can bulletproof your immune system. First, let's talk about what the immune system is.  The immune system is basically your body’s army for fighting off pathogens, which cause disease. In particular, the pathogens we’re talking about are microbes, like bacteria and viruses.  There are three main barriers to the immune system—skin, mucous lining, and inflammation.  Once a pathogen is in the body, your body deploys its counter-attack using white blood cells (WBC) and friendly gut microbes.  White blood cells and friendly microbes… • Make acid to rid pathogens • Secrete poison  • Releases free radicles • Created hydrogen peroxide • Create enzymes • Compete for food/space • Generate music and inflammation • Have a memory so they can easily deal microbes they’ve encountered before • Promote phagocytes, which are cells that destroy unfriendly microbes Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. The #1 Most Powerful Epigenetic Trigger: SURPRISING

DATA: https://library.noetic.org/library/pu...  The shocking truth about your health with Lissa Rankin M.D. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tu9n... Today we’re going to talk about the most powerful trigger of epigenetics.  What is epigenetics?  Epigenetics are the factors that are outside of your genes that affect your genes and turn them on or off (expressed or silenced). Epigenetics are the controlling factors for what diseases you may get, how long you may live, and what may happen to your health. What influences epigenetics: 1. Environment  2. Drugs 3. Diet 4. Age  5. Nutritional deficiencies 6. Stress 7. Exercise 8. Thoughts, beliefs, etc.  There is a term called spontaneous remission. For example, let’s say someone has a disease, and all of a sudden, it goes in remission, or they’re HIV positive, and all of a sudden they’re HIV negative, or they have a tumor and all of a sudden it disappeared. In her book, “Mind Over Medicine,” Lissa Rankin M.D. talks about spontaneous remission as well as the placebo effect.  Your mental state and your thoughts can have a huge effect on epigenetics. This helps explain why it can be much more difficult to heal if you’re in a stress state.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Why Has Keto Gotten a Bad Rap?

Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! In this podcast, I want to talk to you about why keto has gotten a bad rap. You may have heard about things in the news or other media outlets about keto being dangerous and having side effects like: • Constipation • High uric acid • Low calcium • Low magnesium • Kidney stones • Gall stones • High cholesterol • Vomiting • Diarrhea • Fatigue • Hypoglycemia • Slow growth • Abnormal heart rhythm Is the ketogenic diet dangerous?  The truth is, these symptoms can happen when you’re doing keto… But here’s the reason why: The traditional/classical version of the keto diet wasn’t designed to be sustainable—it was designed to treat children with epilepsy. However, this is a much different ketogenic diet from the healthy version of the ketogenic diet. The diet that causes these side effects is a dirty version of the ketogenic diet.  Healthy Keto doesn’t allow foods like: • Mayonaise • Unhealthy salad dressings • GMO soy oil • Refined vegetable oil • Soy • Non-organic, low-quality casein  • Certain carbs — bread and rice • Diet soda • Orange juice • Corn syrup • Maltodextrin  If you consume these foods, you are going to deplete nutrients—vitamins, minerals, trace minerals, etc.—and you’re going to create a lot of fo gallbladder issues and bloating with unhealthy fats.  Most of all, Healthy Keto highlights vegetables. Dirty keto includes very few quality vegetables in the diet. This causes nutrient deficiencies and lots of side effects.  So when you see studies on the news about the “ketogenic diet,” you’re only seeing the unhealthy version of keto, which I don’t recommend at all.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. In this podcast, I want to talk about how intermittent fasting has the potential to improve your vision greatly.  Let’s start by looking at one of the biggest causes of poor vision—diabetes. When you’re a diabetic, there are four main issues that are affected: kidneys, heart, nervous system, and the eyes.  There’s actually a condition caused by diabetes called diabetic retinopathy. This is damage to the retina. There’s also a chance of developing glaucoma when you’re a diabetic. When you have a blood sugar issue, it destroys the tiny vascular system that goes to the optic nerve. This can cause blindness.  We also have another problem called macular degeneration. This is another situation where you have poor circulation in the back of the eye.  And finally, we have the common issue of cataracts. Cataracts are very common in diabetics.  What these all break down to is insulin resistance.  So if insulin resistance is a cause of poor eyesight, then doing the opposite could help reverse the damage and help improve eyesight.  Intermittent fasting is fantastic for insulin resistance. It helps normalize your blood sugar, and it helps your body run on ketones, which also helps with blood sugar levels.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. The Hidden Cause of Vitamin D Deficiency

Talk to a Dr. Berg Keto Consultant today and get the help you need on your journey (free consultation). Call 1-540-299-1557 with your questions about Keto, Intermittent Fasting or the use of Dr. Berg products. Consultants are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 9 pm EST. Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! In this podcast, we're going to talk about another important huge cause of a vitamin D deficiency. There are over 1 billion people on this planet that don't have enough vitamin D.  There are many reasons for this big problem. A few causes of a vitamin D deficiency are:  • You don't get enough sun  • You're sitting in front of a computer screen all of the time  • It's almost impossible to get the vitamin D you need from food   • You have insulin resistance   • You consume a lot of sugar and refined carbs  But there's something else that's very important going on. Vitamin D can only work if it connects to a receptor. There is something called the vitamin D receptor (VDR). A few vitamin D benefits are that it helps regulate calcium and supports bone health. But, that's only a small part of what it does.  The vitamin D receptor is responsible for 229 genes. So, this receptor has the ability to create a lot of different effects. A really big function of vitamin D is immune modulation. This means that it can control your immune system to a great extent.  One of the primary strategies used by pathogens is called "successive infection," which means it slows down the immune system by interfering with the vitamin D receptor.  Some microbes that interfere with the vitamin D receptor:  • TB  • Lyme (Borrelia burgdorferi)   • Syphilis   • Leprosy   • EBV  • HIV So, could your vitamin D deficiency be caused by a microbe shutting down the receptor, or could you have a vitamin D deficiency allowing these microbes to invade? If you have an infection, you may want to take vitamin D. Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. 4 Ways to Neutralize Uric Acid

Today we’re going to talk about how to help decrease uric acid in the body. We’re also going to talk about some of the conflicting information that revolves around that topic.  Uric acid is formed when it’s trying to breakdown purine, which is another compound found in foods. It’s mainly found in organ meats and meats but, it’s in certain vegetables as well.  Uric acid can act as an antioxidant in the body, and that’s one of the reasons it may elevate when you’re doing fasting—as a way to enhance your immune system.  When the pH of your urine becomes too acidic, this uric acid can leak out into the joints and cause gout. It can also leak into the kidneys causing uric acid kidney stones.  Ways to control uric acid levels:  1. Alkalize the body  You can try:  • Consuming potassium citrate  • Consuming more alkaline vegetables  • Taking baking soda  • Taking other alkalizing minerals like magnesium and calcium 2. Apple cider vinegar  3. Vitamin C (from lemons or lemon juice) 4. Reduce glucose and fructose  Uric acid food to avoid:  • Organ meats   • Sardines   • Asparagus   • Spinach   • Green peas  • Cauliflower  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. The #1 Thing Missing in Addiction Recovery

Talk to a Dr. Berg Keto Consultant today and get the help you need on your journey (free consultation). Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! In this podcast, I want to talk to you about the biggest thing that is missing from addiction recovery.  If you’re recovering from alcohol, for example, you have to realize that alcohol acts like a carbohydrate in the body. However, alcohol itself isn’t a carbohydrate, which means that you’ll have the fluctuations of blood sugar issues.  The symptoms of these blood sugar highs and lows are: • Anxiety • Exhaustion • Moodiness • Cravings • Dizziness • Confusion When you are at something like alcoholics anonymous, for example, you are going to replace alcohol with carbs and sugars—think doughnuts, cookies, and sweetened coffee. What we’re really dealing with are nutrient deficiencies. Addictive substances pull nutrients out of your tissues.  As your blood sugar fluctuates, you develop something called insulin resistance. When you have insulin resistance, you have a difficult time absorbing nutrients in the first place.  So not only is the alcohol (or other substance) causing nutrient deficiencies directly, it also causes nutrient deficiencies by contributing to insulin resistance.  The best things to help combat these problems are:  • Keto • Intermittent fasting • MCT oil • Nutritional yeast • Trace minerals • Vitamin C Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Your Major Stress is Hidden in Plain Sight

Today we’re going to talk about the number 1 source of stress that you may not think of.  The #1 source of hidden stress is the news. TV, radio, the web, and magazines—all of these news outlets could be causing you stress.  Sensationalism: The use of shocking stories at the expense of accuracy to provoke interest.  Get the newspaper, and try to find some good news. Yes, we need to be informed. But do we really need to be informed of the negativity 24/7 everywhere we go?  All of this negativity all of the time may not be good for your health. Consider trying this simple experiment on yourself. Limit the amount of bad news you expose yourself to. As you do this, refocus on some good news instead. I believe your health may actually improve.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Subclinical Hypothyroidism and Zinc Deficiency

Today we’re going to talk about subclinical hypothyroidism and a zinc deficiency.  Subclinical hypothyroidism is a situation where you have a slow thyroid, but the blood values are still normal. If you’re looking at blood tests alone, you can completely miss this condition.  There are several important trace minerals involved in thyroid function, such as:  • Iodine  • Selenium   • Copper  • Zinc  Zinc is not emphasized enough. Zinc is not only involved in the conversion from T4 to T3 but, it’s also involved in the synthesis of T4 and T3, as well as the thyroid-stimulating hormone. Without enough zinc, you can’t convert these hormones, and you can’t make thyroid hormones. Once you have a hypothyroid condition, you’re going to have a hard time absorbing zinc. Having a slow thyroid may actually cause a zinc deficiency.  If you have any thyroid symptoms, don’t forget about zinc. One great way to get more zinc is to consume more shellfish, sea kelp, or take a supplement.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. On the flip side, 69 % of the population has vitamin D insufficiency.  Research indicates that:  • Non-burning sun exposure is associated with a decreased risk of melanomas.   • Getting too much sun, like a sunburn, is associated with doubling the risk of melanomas.  • Outdoor workers have lowered incidences of melanoma than indoor workers.  Realize that vitamin D has a protective function that may help protect from the potential damage to your DNA that the sun can cause. The 5 Reasons for Stomach Pain on the Ketogenic Diet

In this podcast, I want to talk to you about 5 reasons you may have stomach pain while on the ketogenic diet. Many people have asked me why they get stomach pain when they first start keto. These are the most common reasons:  1. Sugar alcohols Most people who first start keto consume a lot of “keto bombs” and other sweet keto treats. The problem is, your stomach may not be used to the sugar alcohols in some of these treats. This includes erythritol, xylitol, mannitol, and maltitol. A sensitivity to these will give you a lot of bloating and stomach pain. Try cutting back and see if it helps you.  2. Fiber Too much fiber can cause some stomach pain on keto. Why? Because your gut may not have enough of the friendly bacteria that deal with the fiber in 7-10 cups of vegetables. If you’re not used to eating all those vegetables, start small, and gradually increase your intake. This will give your body time to build up more of those microbes.  3. Not enough fluid When you first switch from carbs to fats on keto, you are going to get rid of a lot of excess fluid. You have to replace that fluid to keep your body hydrated. The fiber that you consume with vegetables requires more fluid to get through your system. Otherwise, it can suck moisture from your large intestine and leave you dehydrated.  4. Dietary fat Many start consuming too much fat too quickly. You don’t have the gallbladder capacity to break down a large number of fats until your body adapts. Start slow and work your way up. Also, keep in mind that low-quality fats can also cause stomach pain. 5. High protein and low stomach acid Too much protein can also cause stomach pain on keto. This is especially true if your stomach’s acidity isn’t at a pH between 1 and 3. You need a highly acidic stomach to break down proteins. Betaine hydrochloride and apple cider vinegar can help with this.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Does Losing Weight Reduce Insulin Resistance?

Talk to a Dr. Berg Keto Consultant today and get the help you need on your journey (free consultation). Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! In this podcast, I want to answer the question, “will losing weight reduce my insulin resistance?” Insulin resistance is the thing that comes before diabetes and pre-diabetes. So if you have diabetes or pre-diabetes, you also have insulin resistance.  Insulin resistance is a situation where your cells are no longer absorbing insulin, so your body starts producing way more insulin than it should.  In turn, this causes a lot of problems: • Prevents your ability to burn fat • Stores excess amounts of fat • Causes weight to plateau So, if you lose weight, can you help improve insulin resistance?  The answer is this: It all depends on how you lose weight. If you lose weight incorrectly, you are going to gain the weight right back. This is because if you don’t cut back on carbs, you won’t really fix insulin resistance—even if you cut calories and exercise.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. How Stress Affects Your White Blood Cells (WBCs) and Immune System

Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! In this podcast, we’re going to talk about how stress affects the immune system.  When we’re talking about stress, we’re talking about the hormone cortisol. Cortisol has a purpose of suppressing white blood cells. Your white blood cells are basically the army of your immune system. Cortisol suppresses that function. Stress activates cortisol.  There are two types of stress: 1. Acute stress 2. Chronic stress Chronic stress is the type of stress that’s behind so many health problems. When you chronically elevate cortisol, you could create cortisol resistance. This is very similar to insulin resistance. The amount of cortisol may even appear normal in your blood. But, the cells are not sensitive to cortisol anymore, and cortisol is no longer working. This means it’s not going to have a good effect on the immune system.  It may create a spike in the white blood cells, which could increase your risk for all sorts of issues. Or, it could cause you to lose your immune protection and make you more susceptible to getting sick.  Before you get sick, there is almost always something that happens. It’s some type of factor that lowers your immune system. It could be a combination of stress and a nutrient deficiency, or it could be stress itself. A virus can also cause a nutrient deficiency. It can even block vitamin D. This can cause the infection to stay.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. In this podcast, we’re going to talk about keto-friendly condiments. It may seem like a straightforward topic, but there are exceptions to the rule and things that can actually get pretty confusing. Many different condiments have hidden sugars, high-fructose corn syrup, or soy oil. Even organic condiments can have hidden sugar and ingredients that aren’t keto-friendly. Consider making your own condiments to be sure they're keto-friendly. Give a few of my tasty recipes a try. Condiments to watch out for on the keto diet: • BBQ sauce • Ketchup • Mustard (usually ok) • Mayonnaise • Herbs (just fine) • Pesto (most of the time it’s ok) • Dressings • Hot sauce (usually ok) • Salt Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. In this podcast, I want to cover the most common low-carb myths.  9 low-carb myths, and what I have to say about them:  1. Low-carb is a fad diet. (A fad is an intense and widely shared enthusiasm for something that is short-lived)  • The keto diet is growing in popularity because it works. 2. It’s okay for weight loss, but not for long-term health. • Why would something work short-term and not long-term? 3. All that fat is unhealthy.  • We recommend healthy fats. Fats have benefits.  4. It’s not sustainable.  • Low-carb diets get rid of cravings and hunger.  5. It’s not healthy to omit a food group. • There is no such thing as healthy sugar or refined carbohydrates.  6. Low-carb means you have to cut down on vegetables. • We recommend 7-10 cups of vegetables a day.  7. The brain needs carbs—you’ll be tired. • Your brain thrives on ketones.  8. It’s not good for a diabetic. • Low-carb may actually help your blood sugar levels.  9. Low-carb means high-protein  • We recommend a moderate amount of protein. What is the Dietary Requirement for Carbohydrates?

Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! DATA: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/arti... In this short podcast, we’re going to talk about carbs and carbohydrate requirements.  There are no RDAs for carbs. There is no such thing as essential carbohydrates. There are essential amino acids and fatty acids but no essential carbohydrates. The definition of “essential” that I’m talking about means that your body can’t make it. It needs to get it from the diet.  Can your body make glucose? Yes, it’s called gluconeogenesis. Some things say glucose is necessary for the brain and red blood cells. That’s true. But when you reduce glucose and cut down on carbs, your body starts burning ketones and fatty acids. The body can actually turn ketones, fat, and protein into any glucose that it needs. You do not need glucose.  That being said, your microbes do like to eat fiber, and fiber is a carbohydrate. But, it is the only carbohydrate that has zero effect on insulin. Fiber is okay.  A low-carb diet will do a lot of great things for you even if you consume more fat. When you lower your carbs and raise the amount of fat you consume, your cholesterol can actually go into a really good range. Your LDL may go up temporarily, but the good LDL will be high, and the bad LDL will be low. A high carb diet may increase your risk of high cholesterol, diabetes, and heart problems.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Avoid Carb Withdrawal Symptoms When Starting Keto

Talk to a Dr. Berg Keto Consultant today and get the help you need on your journey (free consultation). Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! Today we’re going to talk about how to avoid carb withdrawal symptoms when starting keto.  Carb withdrawal symptoms:  • Irritability   • Grouchiness   • Lightheadedness  • Cravings   • Fatigue   • Hunger With the keto diet, what you’re trying to do is switch from running on sugar to running on fat fuel as your primary energy. This process is known as the keto-adaptation phase, and it can take some time. Your body has to adapt to your blood sugars coming down. But, your brain doesn’t need to adapt, it’s already ready to run on ketones. Ketones are the preferred fuel of the brain.  Carb withdrawal remedies and prevention tips: 1. Start keto and intermittent fasting gradually 2. Add ketones (ketone salts or MCT oil) A big mistake people make when they are starting keto is not being strict enough. Their carbs are lower but still not low enough. What’s going to happen is that they will prolong the withdrawal symptoms. Frequent eating will also make it take longer to adapt. How to speed up keto-adaptation:  • Bring your carbs down as low as you can.  • Decrease the frequency of eating. Don’t eat if you’re not hungry.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Use Spanish Black Radish for Gallstones

Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! Today, we’re going to talk about a fantastic natural remedy for gallstones. It’s called Spanish black radish.  You could potentially use any type of radish, but the Spanish black radish seems to work the best for gallstones.  Spanish black radish may work the best because it helps reduce cholesterol while at the same time stimulating bile flow. A gallstone really occurs because of super-concentrated cholesterol with a reduction in bile. Bile salts can actually help keep gallstones from forming.  Bile is made by your liver. It flows through small ducts and eventually is stored in the gallbladder. The gallbladder concentrates the bile. But, if there is something going on with the liver, you might not be able to produce enough bile. Saturated fats also trigger the release of bile. If you’re on a low-fat diet, you may not have enough bile to dissolve cholesterol and keep the cholesterol from forming gallstones.  Incredible potential health benefits of black radish:   • Anti-gallstones   • Anti-cancer  • Anti-diabetes   • Antimicrobial   • Hepatoprotective   • May help get rid of mucus  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Let's find out.  Step 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMZfy...  DATA: https://www.citizen.org/news/vyvanse-... Could your snacking or binge eating be a medical disease? In this podcast, we're going to find out.  The newest eating disorder is called Binge Eating Disorder or (B.E.D).  Signs of a binge eating disorder:   • Excessive eating at least 1 time a week for 3 months  • Eating every 2 hours  • Eating more rapidly   • Eating until uncomfortable   • Eating alone   • Feeling guilty after eating   • Being on a fad diet where you cut out food groups   • Engaging in sporadic fasting and binging  There is a drug for a binge eating disorder called Vyvanse. This is a new application of an old drug that has been used for other things. It's the only FDA approved solution for this disease.  Side effects of a Vyvanse:  • Sudden cardiac death   • Stroke   • Significant high blood pressure   • Psychosis   • High rate of abuse   • Seeing and hearing things  I am definitely not promoting Vyvanse as the solution to this disease. It's my opinion that snacking and binge eating is not a medical disease. I think it's a normal thing that a lot of people go through, and if they just did healthy keto combined with intermittent fasting, their need for snacks would go down. Why Does Insulin Cause PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Disease)?

Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! In this podcast, we’re going to talk about PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and why insulin may be behind it.  Polycystic ovarian syndrome or polycystic ovarian disease is a condition that occurs in females, which involves having too much androgen. Typically males have more androgens and/or testosterone. Women do naturally have androgens, but not at the same levels. High levels of androgens in women can cause polycystic ovarian syndrome symptoms. Polycystic ovarian syndrome symptoms:  • Facial hair  • More body hair  • Acne  • Hair loss (a receding hairline)  • Deeper voice   • Irregular cycles or no cycles   • Cysts on the ovaries  I believe insulin causes PCOS with two different mechanisms.  Mechanism #1  The first one involves a hormone from the pituitary called LH. When you increase insulin, you’re going to get a spike in LH, which comes down from the pituitary to the ovaries. Once this hormone connects with the ovaries, it triggers this certain cell called a theca cell, which increases androgens. Mechanism #2 There is a buffering mechanism in your liver called SHGB. This compound buffers androgens. When you increase insulin, you decrease this compound. Then, you get less buffering and more free testosterone.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. People become addicted to prescription drugs, and there are a lot of side effects of prescription drugs. Really, I believe these drugs help you patch up the problem over and over instead of really fixing the root issues.  There are three categories of pain:  • Tissue damage   • Nerve damage   • Referral pain  *Referral pain is very common and often misunderstood. Many people have pain that’s being referred from another place in their body—primarily the digestive system.  Examples of conditions that may be referral pain:  • Chronic back pain   • Cancer pain   • Fibromyalgia   • Headaches   • Arthritis   • Post-surgery pain   • Rheumatoid arthritis   • Trauma pain  The best natural pain killers: 1. DMSO  2. Benfotiamine  3. Stinging nettle root 4. Vitamin D 5. Willow bark (salicylic acid) 6. In this podcast, we’re going to talk about how to strengthen your red blood cell. What do red blood cells do?  • Red blood cells are called erythrocytes. They are there as a method of carrying oxygen.   • Your body makes 2.4 million red blood cells per second.   • Red blood cells are made in a factory inside of your long bones.   • A red blood cell will last between 100-120 days.  • It takes 60 seconds for a red blood cell to travel from your lung, through your body, and back to your lung.   • It has no nucleus or DNA. Viruses use your DNA to replicate, so viruses can’t hurt red blood cells.   • You have between 20-30 trillion red blood cells. That makes up 70% of all of your cells.   • The red blood cell can’t use ketones as fuel. It uses glucose. Your body makes its own glucose (gluconeogenesis). You don’t need to consume glucose to feed the red blood cell. Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Today we’re going to talk about how to stop a panic attack. A panic attack is severe anxiety. Many times during a panic attack, people feel a lot of fear, and they may also feel like they can’t breathe. During a panic attack, the adrenal glands are involved. These are stress glands. Also, in your brain, you have something called the amygdala. The amygdala is similar to the adrenals because it’s also involved in the fight or flight mechanism. It has been found that when the amygdala is removed, a person loses all fear. The amygdala is involved in fear. Fear is a survival mechanism.  How to help stop a panic attack: 1. Slow down your breathing  Breathe in for 4-5 seconds and then breathe out for 4-5 seconds. 2. Take long walks Take about a 40-60 minute walk every day. Get out in nature, get space, and get oxygen.  3. Stop watching the news  You don’t need the negativity.  4. Vitamin B1 Vitamin B1 is necessary to help counter stress. Refined carbs deplete vitamin B1. People that have panic attacks or anxiety attacks are typically on a high-carb diet.  5. Acupressure  Acupressure may really help pull someone out of a panic attack fast. 6. Adaptogens  These are herbs that help people adapt to stress. My Opinion on Dry Fasting: Dr. Berg

USA Only. Take the Free Keto Mini-Course   Today we’re going to talk about dry fasting, and I’m going to share with you my opinion about it. There are a lot of benefits of fasting, but is one type of fasting better? Let’s look at dry vs. wet fasting.  What is dry fasting? Dry fasting is fasting (not eating) without any water or liquids of any kind.  What is water fasting? Water fasting is when you’re fasting, but you’re drinking water.  There are also two types of dry fasting: Soft dry fasting:  This is when you’re allowed to use water when you brush your teeth or take a shower.  Hard dry fasting:  This is when you do not expose any part of your body to water at all.  The body can typically only go around three days without water. But, your body will go a lot longer if you’re just restricting food and not water because you still have a fat reserve to live off of.  There is no research or studies comparing dry fasting and wet fasting side by side. But, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s a bad thing or that you won’t get amazing results. In theory, dry fasting may work well for some people for one day. If you wanted to try dry fasting, I wouldn’t go longer than one day. Then, you can compare a day of doing a dry fast and a day of doing a wet fast and see what works best for you.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Decrease stress 7. Avoid TV or watch a comedy before bed 8. Cut down on caffeine 9. There are certain co-factors or nutrients that are involved in making melatonin 10. There are certain types of foods that contain tryptophan 11. Is Tapioca Fiber Keto?

Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take the Free Keto Mini-Course   Please Give Me Your Unbiased Review Here: http://bit.ly/drbergreviews  Tapioca fiber may be in your so-called keto-friendly products, but is it actually a keto-friendly ingredient?   DATA: https://convenientketo.net/tapioca-fi... Today we’re going to talk about tapioca, and I’m going to answer the question, “is tapioca fiber keto-friendly?” Where does tapioca come from? Tapioca is a starch that comes from the cassava plant.  It’s actually quite high in carbohydrates. In fact, the carbohydrates from cassava flour are 25% more than white flour.  If we compare tapioca flour to almond flour, this is what we find:  • 1/4 cup tapioca flour — 27 net carbs   • 1/4 cup almond flour — 3 net carbs  There is an ingredient found in many so-called “keto-friendly” products called soluble tapioca fiber. Soluble tapioca fiber is the same thing as prebiotic tapioca and organic non-GMO tapioca fiber. Soluble tapioca fiber is a big source of IMO, which is a common sweetener. I used to think this was fine, but I no longer recommend it. More recent studies show that IMO has the same glycemic effect as glucose and dextrose. It’s actually worse to use than sugar. If you want to eat keto-friendly foods and stay in ketosis, you may want to stay away from tapioca flour and tapioca fiber. I’m going to explain the interesting effect magnesium has on calcium.  Magnesium is involved in over 350 biochemical reactions. It’s a coenzyme involved in enzyme reactions. It’s also a key electrolyte.  Magnesium is also involved in:  • Muscle relaxation  • Nerve transmission   • Fluid balance   • pH  • ATP production  • Mood   • Anti-stress  • Sleep   • Bone physiology   • Heart physiology   • Supporting insulin Magnesium is very important. But, up to 60% of the population has a subclinical magnesium deficiency. Subclinical means that it won’t show up on a blood test, but you’re still deficient. The deficiency is inside of the cell. 98% of your magnesium is inside of the cell, not outside of the cell. So, if you get a blood test and find that your magnesium levels are normal in your blood, it may not really mean anything.  • The RDAs of magnesium for men are 420 milligrams.   • The RDAs of magnesium for women are 320 milligrams.  Good sources of magnesium:  • Pumpkin seeds   • Spinach   • Swiss chard   • Sunflower seeds  • Leafy greens   • Salmon Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Today we’re going to talk about the dangers and benefits of erythritol.  What is erythritol? Erythritol is a sugar alcohol. It’s an alternative sweetener, and it’s 60-70% as sweet as sugar. It has less than 25% of 1 calorie per gram. Sugar has 4 calories per gram. Erythritol has .24 calories per gram. It has 95% less calories than sugar.  Erythritol gets absorbed in the small intestine, it gets in the blood, but it gets excreted by the kidney unchanged. The microbes don’t like to eat it. There aren’t many negative side effects of erythritol. It has zero impact on insulin—it doesn’t affect the blood sugars.  *As long as it’s non-GMO, I think erythritol is a great alternative sweetener.  The dangers of erythritol in high doses (greater than 50 grams):  1. Gas 2. Bloating  3. Stomach noise 4. A laxative effect  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Vitamin D: How Much Food Would You Have to Eat?

Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take the Free Keto Mini-Course   Vitamin D may be one of the most important vitamins, but can you get enough from food alone? In this podcast, we’re going to talk about how much food you would have to eat to get your vitamin D requirements.  In my opinion, vitamin D is one of the most important fat-soluble vitamins out there. Vitamin D is beneficial for bone health, calcium absorption, the immune system, and to help lower inflammation.  But, there are many things that can deplete your vitamin D that go beyond not getting enough vitamin D from your food or from the sun.   A few causes of a vitamin D deficiency:  • Microbes that block the vitamin D receptor  • Stress  • Sugar   • Lowered sun exposure   • Age  • Darker skin has less conversion on the skin of vitamin D from the sun   • Poor health   • Inflammation   • Insulin resistance  The RDAs for vitamin D are 400-800 IUs, which is 10-20 micrograms. I believe those numbers are way too low. I think, at a minimum, you need 5,000 IUs per day. But, if you have health issues, you may need a lot more.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods.
