Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! In this podcast, I want to talk to you about black pepper. Is it good, or is it bad? The truth is, there’s something very good and very bad about black pepper. Let me explain. The main phytonutrient in black pepper that benefits your health is called piperine. Pepper can: • Relieve stomach aches • Improves dopamine and serotonin levels • Reduce inflammation • Provide vitamin K, iron, and magnesium • Improves bioavailability of some compounds (by up to 2000%) By far, the most amazing part of black pepper is its ability to increase the bioavailability of other compounds, including: • Curcumin • Selenium • B12 • B6 • Vitamin A The problem is that piperine can also increase the bioavailability of toxic substances. It can prevent your liver from getting rid of toxins in the body, so you will retain it. It’s not good if you’re taking certain medications, including: • Lithium • Tegretol • Rifampin • Dilantin • Viramune XR Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Doesn't Keto Cause Gallstones Eating All That Fat?
Talk to a Dr. Berg Keto Consultant today and get the help you need on your journey (free consultation). Call 1-540-299-1557 with your questions about Keto, Intermittent Fasting or the use of Dr. Berg products. Consultants are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 9 pm EST. Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! In this podcast, we’re going to talk about keto and gallstones. Can you do the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting if you have a gallstone? What is a gallstone made of? There are several different types of gallstones, but the most common is the cholesterol gallstone. The different types of gallstones contain several of the same ingredients, such as: • Cholesterol • Bilirubin • Phosphates • Calcium carbonate What causes gallstones? It’s mainly a combination of two things: 1. Too much cholesterol 2. Too little bile The most important thing you need to know about gallstones: • The composition of a gallstone is not the same thing as bile Another important point about gallstones: • Fasting does not cause gallstones What can cause a super-saturated amount of cholesterol? A situation where the gallbladder is not contracting anymore. It’s not releasing bile. It just sits there, and cholesterol comes in and forms stones. If you’re not triggering your gallbladder to release its contents, over a long period of time, that could cause a gallstone. What triggers the release of bile from the gallbladder? The answer is saturated fats. A ketogenic diet is a low-carb high-fat diet. So, when you do keto, you’re going to be releasing a lot of bile on a regular basis. If you add intermittent fasting, you’re going to concentrate the bile. * Healthy keto and intermittent fasting may actually decrease the risk of gallstones. * What increases the risk of gallstones is a low-fat diet. Scoliosis, Kyphosis, Lordosis and Vitamin D
In this podcast, we're going to talk about scoliosis, kyphosis, and lordosis, and how these conditions relate to vitamin D. Scoliosis is an abnormal curve in the back. Kyphosis is more of a hunchback. Lordosis is a condition where the person has a swayback. When you look up the cause of scoliosis, it's very unclear. A study out of Hong Kong found that 30% of people with scoliosis have osteopenia. Osteopenia is the start of bone loss, which can be caused by a lack of calcium or (more likely) low vitamin D3. A few symptoms of a vitamin D deficiency: • Scoliosis • Kyphosis • Lordosis • Muscle spasm • Bowed legs • Knocked knees Vitamin D has a lot to do with the development of the skeletal system, especially the spine. It's very important for a mother to have enough vitamin D while carrying her baby and while breastfeeding. But, 50% of pregnant women are deficient in vitamin D. How to know if you're vitamin D deficient? If you press on your breastbone or shin and it's tender—that could be a sign of a vitamin D deficiency. Other signs of a vitamin D deficiency: • Muscle spasms • Depression • Weekend immune system Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Adrenal Insufficiency and Low Cortisol: Symptoms, Causes & Solutions
In this podcast, we're going to talk about adrenal insufficiency and low cortisol. I've talked a lot about the adrenal gland and cortisol, but I want to touch on a condition called Addison's, which is an autoimmune condition. By the time you notice Addison's complications, over 90% of your adrenal glands are destroyed. This means you're not able to produce enough cortisol and other hormones. Symptoms of this are: • Fatigue • Weakness • Weight loss • Can't sleep • Salt cravings • Low tolerance to stress Though cortisol helps the body respond to stress, it actually has over 200 other functions throughout the body. It helps regulate blood pressure, immune response, and insulin levels. In fact, it can help counter hypoglycemia. What causes Addison's? There are three primary things: 1. Tuberculosis Around 25% of the population has TB. However, it can remain dormant until later in life. I recommend 20,000 IUs of vitamin D to combat TB 2. Fungus Certain funguses can cause cortisol levels to drop. This often goes unnoticed. 3. Stress and trauma Both mental and physical stress can cause Addison's disease. Stressors can cause the adrenals to shut down or becomes overwhelmed. I recommend using acupressure to help the adrenal glands function properly. Just to the right of the belly button, use your thumb and middle finger to apply pressure. This will help relieve and extract stress. How to Get Rid of Bloating and Abdominal Distention
Today, we’re going to talk about how to get rid of bloating and abdominal distension. The major source of stomach bloating is microbial fermentation. This is the chemical breakdown of carbohydrates by a microbe. These microbes have the ability to breakdown fiber, whereas the body can’t. When the microbes breakdown these undigestible fibers, they turn them into some interesting things: 1. SCFA (small-chain fatty acids) 2. Lactic acid 3. Methane 4. Hydrogen 5. CO2 6. Nitrogen 7. Hydrogen sulfide What you can do to help reduce bloating: 1. Adjust or eliminate your consumption of certain carbs/fiber like: • Fruit • Garlic • Onions • Asparagus • Milk • Yogurt • Beans 2. Add a good probiotic 3. Try certain foods to reduce bloating: • Fennel • Ginger • Anise • Peppermint 4. Take apple cider vinegar or betaine hydrochloride Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. I'm also going to show you how to use certain acupressure techniques to help get rid of stress and sleep better. I understand the feeling of not being able to sleep. It can feel like torture. I really want to help you learn the best way to sleep better. The two big problems with sleeping pills: 1. 6 out of 10 people experience side effects from sleeping pills A few side effects of sleeping pills: • Drowsiness • Confusion • Forgetfulness • Tiredness during the day 2. Sleeping pills may only give you a small amount of extra sleep (less than 30 minutes), and only help you go to sleep 8-20 minutes faster. How to get rid of insomnia naturally: 1. Read a book instead of watching TV before bed 2. Walk (45-60 minutes) 3. Stretch before bed 4. Neck technique 5. Avoid too much caffeine Another good remedy for sleep disorders: • L-tryptophan (take on an empty stomach) The sleep aid I recommend not only has l-tryptophan, but it also has all sorts of other ingredients to help extract stress and allow you to drift off into a wonderful sleep. Not only will it help you get to sleep faster, but it will also help you wake up more refreshed. Will Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) Break Your Fast?
Talk to a Dr. Berg Keto Consultant today and get the help you need on your journey (free consultation). Call 1-540-299-1557 with your questions about Keto, Intermittent Fasting or the use of Dr. Berg products. Consultants are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 9 pm EST. Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! In this podcast, we’re going to talk about apple cider vinegar and fasting. Apple cider vinegar does have carbohydrates. So, will apple cider vinegar break your fast? One tablespoon of apple cider vinegar (ACV) has .01g of carbohydrates. So it’s not really going to break the fast more than a nanosecond. Balsamic vinegar has 3g of carbs, and rice vinegar has 6g of carbs. So, comparatively, these two types of vinegar both have a lot more carbs than apple cider vinegar. But, if you’re just using a small amount as a salad dressing, I think it’s going to be just fine. What is vinegar? Vinegar is mainly acetic acid. Acetic acid comes from acetic acid bacteria that ferment carbs. It breaks down certain carbohydrates with enzymes and eventually turns them into vinegar. Fermentation is pretty much the breakdown of carbs, sugar, or alcohol by bacteria. The really interesting thing about apple cider vinegar is that it has a tiny amount of carbohydrates, but it still has a lot of benefits. A few apple cider benefits: • It can help stabilize blood sugars • It may lower insulin • It can help improve insulin resistance Anything that decreases insulin will help you lose weight. Because apple cider vinegar stabilizes your blood sugar, your hunger will go down, and your energy will go up. You don’t have to worry about consuming apple cider vinegar while fasting. In fact, I actually encourage it. Apple cider vinegar may even help you fast for longer and have more energy. Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! In this podcast, we’re going to talk about the dangers of an ultra low-fat diet. I’m talking about a low-fat diet where the fats make up only 15% of your total calories. With the diet I recommend, fats make up about 70% of your total calories. Why low-fat diets don’t work: Well, there are a lot of things in fat that we need, such as fat-soluble vitamins and essential fatty acids. Fat is also needed to make structural parts of our tissues—including cell membranes. Dangers of an ultra low-fat diet: 1. Decrease in vitamins A, D, E, K 2. Risk of mental problems 3. Increased risk of cancer 4. Decrease in HDL/increase in triglycerides 5. Decreased fat—increased carbs 6. Never satisfied—hungry 7. Low-fat high protein—hard on kidneys Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Will Zero Carb Alcohol Stop Ketosis?
Talk to a Dr. Berg Keto Consultant today and get the help you need on your journey (free consultation). Call 1-540-299-1557 with your questions about Keto, Intermittent Fasting or the use of Dr. Berg products. Consultants are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 9 pm EST. Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! Today I’m going to answer the question, “will zero carb alcohol stop ketosis?” Has carbs: • Beer • Wine • Mixed drinks • Coolers Has no carbs: • Whiskey • Vodka • Brandy • Tequila • Dry martini Alcohol does not turn to sugar. So, is alcohol keto-friendly? Alcohol has seven calories per gram, whereas carbohydrate has four calories per gram. These calories have to go somewhere. Despite the fact that it doesn’t turn to sugar or raise insulin levels, the alcohol calories will turn into fat. Within one minute, it’s already into your bloodstream and up to your brain. Alcohol goes to the liver, where the liver considers it a priority. In the liver, you have an enzyme, which breaks the alcohol down into a highly toxic chemical. This chemical can create: • Fibrosis • Inflammation • Fatty liver • Oxidation This chemical can also stop fat burning. Alcohol depletes: • Vitamins B1 and B12 • Folate • Zinc • Vitamins D and A • And more Realize what your body has to do to get rid of this alcohol. If you’re going to drink, try to drink small amounts and make sure your diet is super healthy to counter the complications, side effects, and nutritional deficiencies that alcohol can create. Can't Sleep Without Carbs: Do This!
In this podcast, we're going to talk about what to do if you can't fall asleep without carbs. Why can't I fall asleep without carbs? It can take a long time to fix insulin resistance, even once you make the switch to a ketogenic diet. With insulin resistance, you have higher amounts of insulin. With keto, you consume lower amounts of carbohydrates. But, you're still going to have high insulin despite cutting out the carbs because of the resistance problem. Higher amounts of insulin can push the blood sugars down too low in the middle of the night. With low blood sugars, you have counter hormones that keep your blood sugars from going down too low. The two main ones are cortisol and adrenaline. These two hormones are behind many sleeping problems. What to do if you can't fall asleep without carbs: 1. Time (as you fix insulin resistance, this problem will get better) 2. Take electrolytes (potassium, magnesium, and calcium) 3. Take apple cider vinegar before bed 4. Adjust the amount of protein you consume as your last meal 5. Consume more vegetables 6. Take vitamin B1 7. Limit caffeine consumption 8. Take exogenous ketones before bed 9. Get more vitamin D by being in the sun or by taking vitamin D Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Stem cell This is a cell that hasn’t turned into anything yet. When you do a periodic fast for 72 hours, you’re going to stimulate some stem cells. This can help build new tissue. • These effects may happen after 72+ hrs. 6. Stubborn weight If you have a really stubborn weight situation, consider doing OMAD every other day. Make sure you’re getting your nutrients. • For stubborn weight, try eating one meal every 48 hours. 7. Diabetes This is a problem with excess sugar. With diabetes, you can really help the blood sugar situation with fasting. The problem is that you must check your blood sugars routinely, and talk to your doctor about adjusting your medications. Today we’re going to talk about which is better for digestion, baking soda, or apple cider vinegar (ACV)? There is no doubt that both of these home remedies for indigestion work. But I want to talk about the long-term effect of baking soda vs. apple cider vinegar. Hypochlorhydria is a situation where you either don’t have enough stomach acid, or the acid is weak. The purpose of stomach acid is to help break down protein, to help kill pathogens, and to help with the absorption of minerals and trace minerals. Symptoms of hypochlorhydria: • GERD • Acid reflux • Indigestion • Anemia • Constipation • Stomach infections • Malabsorption • Carcinoma • Heartburn Baking soda vs. Apple cider vinegar: Baking soda Baking soda for indigestion will make you feel better because it’s going to help remove some of that excess acid in your esophagus. But, the next time you eat, you’re still going to have the same symptoms because it’s not corrective. Baking soda also contains a tremendous amount of sodium. When you increase sodium, you deplete potassium, which is connected to many different conditions. You also deplete chloride. This can cause you to deplete hydrochloric acid in your stomach and then cause you to need more baking soda. Apple cider vinegar Apple cider vinegar is a great natural remedy for indigestion. You need to dilute it. Mix one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water and take it before you eat. The fluids in your stomach should be acid, but the blood in the body should be slightly alkaline. Alkalizing the body is not the best thing to do in every situation. The Difference Between the Colon and Intestines
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about the unique difference between the small intestine and the large intestines. The small intestine: The small intestine is a lot longer. There are three parts: • The first part is 10-15 inches • The second part is about 8 ft. • The last part is 8-13 ft. 90% of all the digestion occurs in the small intestine. You have enzymes that are generated from the pancreas and the small intestine that help break down proteins, carbohydrates, and fat. In the first part of the small intestine, you have the contents of the stomach and some of the juices from the pancreas coming out to help neutralize the acid from the stomach. You also have the absorption of iron happening here. The next part of the small intestine is where you will absorb certain vitamins and nutrients. In the last part of the small intestine, you will absorb and recycle bile salts. You’re also going to absorb vitamin B12, fat, fat-soluble vitamins, and certain electrolytes. The small intestine is alkaline, which triggers certain enzymes. When the microbes from the large intestine back up and get into the small intestine, that’s called SIBO. SIBO can cause nutritional deficiencies and a lot of bloating. The large intestine is a bit smaller at around 5 ft. This is where fiber starts to ferment. You’re also going to absorb water, fluids, certain electrolytes, salts, and potassium. There are a lot more bacteria in the large intestine than in the small intestine. The pH of the colon is going to be more acidic to help kill pathogens that should not be there. But, it doesn’t affect good bacteria. When the fiber is fermented, it’s going to turn into small chain fatty acids, such as butyrate. Butyrate is actually the preferred fuel for the colon cells. Butyrate also helps stabilize your blood sugars, increase energy, and helps improve insulin resistance. Benefits of Probiotics That You Never Considered

Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! I this podcast, we’re going to talk about the benefits of probiotics that you may have never heard before. Well-known health benefits of probiotics: • Helps with digestion • Decreases inflammation • Gets rid of gas/bloating • Fights against pathogens • Good bacteria help digest fiber • Good bacteria make vitamins (biotin, vitamin K) Little-known benefits of probiotics: • Decreases stress • Elevates the mood • Decreases acne • Helps with blood sugar control • Decreases body odor • Promotes better sleep • Improves sinuses • Supports weight loss I would recommend probiotic supplements that are in a liquid form that can survive the stomach. I also recommend taking your probiotics before bed. Start by taking a very small amount and gradually work up to taking a tablespoon. If you find yourself detoxifying or feeling congested, then start taking smaller amounts again over a long period of time. You have to let your system get used to the new good bacteria that you’re adding. The good bacteria kill off the bad bacteria, and you can have a little bit of an immune reaction going on in your gut. But, overall probiotics may help improve gut health and much more. Jaundice is a situation where your skin and the whites of your eyes turn yellow. This is caused by bilirubin backing up into the skin. Bilirubin is a compound that comes from the breakdown of red blood cells. This happens because your liver isn’t clearing them out. With infants, this can mean that their liver is underdeveloped. With adults, it’s typically liver damage. There are 8 things you can try to help get rid of jaundice. 1. Sunlight (or phototherapy) 2. Vitamin D 3. Rosemary 4. Lemon juice 5. Ginger 6. Amla berry 7. Oregano 8. Milk thistle Give these a try and see if they help you get rid of jaundice. Key Reasons For a Zinc Deficiency

Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! Today we’re going to talk about zinc. I want to cover the key zinc deficiency causes and the things that can help increase your absorption of zinc. I believe zinc is probably one of the most important trace minerals. Over 2 billion people are at least somewhat deficient in zinc. The big problem with zinc is that we don’t store zinc very well. So, unless you’re consuming it every day, you could end up having a zinc deficiency. Zinc can affect: • The reproductive organs • Skin health • The immune system Here are a couple of things that can decrease the absorption of zinc: • Too much calcium • Too much iron • Excessive amounts of copper • Phytates (bran, rice, grains, corn) • Cadmium • Casein • Gut damage • A lot of tannins • A lot of sulfites • Infection • Refined sugar • Stress Here are a couple of things that can increase the absorption of zinc: • Strong stomach acid • Enough protein • Red meat • Shellfish (especially oysters) • Nuts/Seeds • Cheese The amount of zinc you should consider getting per day is 8-13 mg. Hypothyroidism May Not Be a Thyroid Problem
Talk to a Dr. Berg Keto Consultant today and get the help you need on your journey (free consultation). Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! Did you know that the majority of hypothyroid conditions are not really a thyroid problem? 90% of all hypothyroid conditions are Hashimoto's. This is an autoimmune condition. With this autoimmune condition, the thyroid has antibodies that attack itself. This is immune dysfunction, not necessarily a thyroid problem. But, it does affect the thyroid. This could be why many people with this condition never see any change—because they're treating the wrong problem. If you look up hypothyroidism, you will see that the cause is low thyroid hormones. But what's causing the low thyroid hormones? If you have hypothyroidism that's not involved with Hashimoto's, it could be secondary to something else. 80% of the conversion of T4 to T3 happens through the liver. So, if there's something going on with the liver or the gallbladder, it could mean that you're just not getting the conversion of T4 to T3. You could also have a situation where there is too much estrogen in the body. In this case, the estrogen can block the thyroid. Some other data talks about consuming too many cruciferous vegetables being behind a thyroid problem. But, the studies on this are very sparse. You would also have to consume a tremendous amount of cruciferous vegetables to deplete enough iodine to cause a weakness in the thyroid. There is no data that says consuming cruciferous vegetables will kill the thyroid. If you're worried about cruciferous vegetables causing a thyroid problem, you could steam them or ferment them. You could also have some sea kelp to help replace the iodine that could potentially be depleted by cruciferous vegetables. But, cruciferous vegetables can help regulate estrogen, and really, cruciferous vegetables benefit the entire body. Sharp Stomach Pain That Comes and Goes

Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! Today, we’re going to talk about why you might have sharp stomach pain that comes and goes. What causes stomach pain that comes and goes? 1. SIBO The worst thing to consume if you have SIBO is vegetables. If you have SIBO, try taking betaine hydrochloride. 2. Inflammation/Ulcer This could be caused by damage from something you’re eating or a food allergy. Try a food allergy test to identify the problem. For an ulcer, taking chlorophyll may help. 3. Gallbladder/Bile ducts Eating the wrong types of foods, or high levels of certain hormones can cause a stone. This can create irritation. 4. Pancreas/Duct Carbs can cause your pancreas to work too hard. If it’s working too hard, the stimulation can interfere with the normal flow of digestive juices, which can cause a lot of problems. 5. Gluten For some people, this can be poisonous and cause a lot of damage to their system. 6. Fortification (iron) Enriched flour products contain iron. Excessive amounts of iron can be very toxic and cause a lot of damage. 7. Vegetable oil Vegetable oils are highly inflammatory to the digestive system. 8. GMO grains GMO grains are sprayed with glyphosate, which can irritate your digestive system. 9. Low stomach acid If you don’t have enough acid in your stomach, it will cause food to go through undigested—causing problems. Try consuming apple cider vinegar and betaine hydrochloride. 10. Frequent eating Intermittent fasting allows the gut to heal and rest. Other than those things, try consuming moderate amounts of protein and keep your carbs low. Also, consume plenty of vegetables except if you have SIBO. Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. How Intermittent Fasting Affects Your Heart (Cardiovascular System)
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about intermittent fasting and how fasting affects the heart. It all starts with lowering insulin. When you fast, you lower insulin. Insulin controls what type of fuel your body is going to run on. Fatty acids from fat cells are the main source of fuel to the heart. Your heart actually prefers a type of ketone called acetoacetate. Fasting switches your body from glucose to ketones. But, when you eat, you go from ketosis to glucose. Ketones also have the ability to feed the heart if the heart is in a damaged state. So, if you have any type of cardiovascular disease, you may benefit from intermittent fasting and providing your body with ketones through a low-carb diet. More benefits of intermittent fasting for the heart: • Improvement with atherosclerosis • Less stiffness in the arteries • Lower blood pressure • Improved insulin resistance which will improve your ability to absorb electrolytes Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Is Vaping Better than Smoking?
Talk to a Dr. Berg Keto Consultant today and get the help you need on your journey. Call 1-540-299-1557 with your questions about Keto, Intermittent Fasting or the use of Dr. Berg products. Consultants are available Monday through Friday from 8 am to 8 pm Est. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! Is vaping actually better than smoking? In this podcast, we’re going to talk about the harmful effects of vaping. 480,000 people die each year from an issue related to smoking. How many years did it take to recognize that smoking kills people? It took 50 years. Vaping has only been around since 2003, and there are no long-term studies on it. With vaping, you’re actually inhaling an aerosol, which is a certain gas. It’s a vaporized mist of propylene glycol and glycerin. Some of the pods that are used for vaping actually contain more nicotine than a pack of cigarettes. If a person starts to experiment with nicotine before the age of 20, the risk of addiction (to more than just smoking) goes way up. You’re also vaping from a device that has the capacity to explode. With flavored vaping, the chemicals are cytotoxic to your lungs. There are heavy metals, and it has the ability to impair DNA. It can also cause oxidation to the inside lining of your arteries. Can't Live Without Bread...Not Doing Keto

Did you know this: • The average American consumes 53 pounds (26 kg) of bread per year. • The glycemic index of bread is 71 - 81. • Low-fat bread has too many carbs that turn into fat and then spikes insulin, which blocks the ability to burn the fat. • A lot of white bread has bleach (chlorine dioxide) in it, which may lead to type 1 diabetes. • Transglutaminase is an enzyme that can worsen the sensitivity to gluten. • When you consume whole grains, you're getting bran, which is loaded with phytic acid that blocks zinc. • The more bread you consume, the more you're deleted of B-vitamins, vitamin E, and zinc. Vitamin B1 and vitamin E are essential for the heart. Keto-friendly alternatives to bread: 1. Oopsie bread (cloud bread) 2. You can make bread out of almond flour, cauliflower, chia seed, flaxseed, coconut flour, and zucchini 3. My keto-friendly bread recipe If you're craving bread, you're usually deficient in vitamin B1. Taking nutritional yeast can help reduce these cravings. Healthy keto and intermittent fasting can also help make your hunger go down, making it easier to avoid bread. Plantar Fasciitis and Heel Spurs: The Biggest Mistake
Today we’re going to talk about one of the biggest mistakes people make when they have plantar fasciitis and heel spurs. I’m also going to show you an effective plantar fasciitis stretch that may help with this condition. What is plantar fasciitis? The plantar fascia is a connective tissue sheath right underneath the foot. A lot of times, it can become inflamed, and you’ll feel pain mainly in the heel area, but sometimes in the middle of the foot. You could have micro-trauma going on, or you could also have a build-up of uric acid crystals. You could even have oxalate crystals that are depositing in your foot from certain things that you’re eating. Some people think that heel spurs are what’s causing their foot pain. But, this is not what’s actually causing the heel pain. There are a lot of people with spurs who don’t have pain, and people with pain that don’t have heel spurs. One of the biggest mistakes people make with plantar fasciitis is stretching the calf or foot. Stretching this soft tissue when you have micro-tearing can aggravate the tears. The last thing you want to do is stretch something that is torn or irritated. Oxalates come from certain foods. They can form kidney stones and can deposit in your joints, causing foot pain. Avoid these high oxalate foods: • Spinach • Almonds • Parsley • Chocolate • Peanuts • Kiwi You could also try consuming cheese or calcium with the above foods because the calcium will bind with the oxalates and block some of the absorption. Stimulates faster hair growth *There are caffeinated shampoos that may work as a hair loss shampoo. One reason some older men and women experience hair loss is because of their free testosterone going down. A lot of other problems can accompany a low testosterone issue. Hidden Cause of Depression and Anxiety

In this podcast, we’re going to talk about a hidden cause of depression and anxiety. It has to do with your microbiome—the good bacteria in your gut. There is actually a connection between your brain and your colon through what’s called the vagus nerve. But, what’s interesting about the vagus nerve is that only 10% of the information is going from the brain to the colon. 90% of the information is going from the colon to the brain. So, you’re getting a lot of feedback in your brain from things that are happening in your gut. The microbiome (your good bacteria) makes a lot of neurotransmitters, which are identical to the ones that your own body makes. Your microbiome makes: • Acetylcholine • GABA • Norepinephrine • Serotonin • Dopamine All of these neurotransmitters can help make you feel calm, stress-free, and happy. If there is a problem with your microbes making these neurotransmitters, you might not feel that great. This part of the nervous system is a part of what’s called the parasympathetic, which is all about rest, digestion, and recovery. It’s possible that things like depression and anxiety can occur if your gut is not right. Your good bacteria also eat fiber from vegetables, and they make small-chain fatty acids. This is a specific type of fat that can provide 90% of the energy for the colon cells. It can also help improve insulin resistance and supports the integrity of the gut lining. There is a huge connection between your state of well being and your digestion. On the flip side, if you’re stressed, this can also affect your digestion. Hydroxychloroquine May NOT Work Without Taking Zinc
Talk to a Dr. Berg Keto Consultant today and get the help you need on your journey (free consultation). Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! Today we’re going to talk about something really important concerning COVID-19 and hydroxychloroquine. Dr. Anthony Cardillo is using hydroxychloroquine with zinc and is having great success. His patients are actually becoming asymptomatic within 8-12 hours. Hydroxychloroquine should not be taken without a prescription from your doctor, and it also shouldn't be taken if you’re healthy. Hydroxychloroquine allows zinc to go into the cell. If there’s more zinc in the cell, then the virus (COVID-19) can’t reproduce. Dr. Anthony Cardillo has found that hydroxychloroquine only works with zinc. Zinc does a lot of things, including increasing resistance to infection and decreasing susceptibility to viruses. People with viruses like COVID-19 typically have a zinc deficiency. Zinc not only helps the immune system, but you need zinc inside the cell to help kill the virus. Hydroxychloroquine may be able to do that if there is enough zinc inside of the body. You might want to consider taking zinc as a preventative measure right now just as an immune-supporting nutrient. The Book that Turned My Health Around: Dr. Berg

Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! I’m back with a slightly different podcast than I usually do. I’m going to talk to you about the book that turned my health around. The name of this book is “Mastering the Zone” by Barry Sears, Ph.D. This is a quote from his book: “Obviously, fat was not the enemy. If fat isn’t the enemy, then what is? The answer is insulin. It’s excess insulin that makes you fat and keeps you fat. And your body creates excess amounts of insulin when you eat either too many fat-free carbohydrates or too many calories at a meal. Therefore, when you talk about the zone, it is really the zone of insulin. Not too high, not too low—a zone of insulin controlled by your diet.” In the second chapter, he goes on to talk about protein: “More important, protein is so vital because it stimulates the hormone glucagon.” Glucagon opposes insulin. It was the exact opposite effect, which means you can reduce the effects of insulin by increasing glucagon. Protein and exercise both work to increase glucagon. Carbs, of course, stimulate insulin. “Glucagon has the opposite physiological action of insulin. In fact, glucagon acts as a major governor of excess insulin production.” He goes on to write, “It is excess insulin that makes you fat, makes you hungry, makes you mentally foggy, decreases physical performance, and increases the likelihood of chronic disease.” This information blew me away. It is at the heart of my Healthy Keto and intermittent fasting diet. However, I improved on this method by increasing his recommended fat intake from 40% to 70%. I also recommend 20% protein, 5% vegetables, and 5% carbs. Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Alzheimer’s Simplified

Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! Today we’re going to talk about Alzheimer’s disease. I think everyone needs to know this basic information about Alzheimer’s. It may even help you if you have Alzheimer’s disease, or if you want to help prevent it. With Alzheimer’s disease, the neurons that connect to other neurons, called the synapses, are damaged. They’re damaged to the point where they can’t use glucose fuel efficiently. They’re basically starving to death. With a normal aging brain, you’ll have a loss of glucose uptake of roughly 10%, but only in the frontal lobe. With this 10% loss, you may not experience any Alzheimer’s symptoms at all. With the Alzheimer’s brain, there is not only a loss of glucose uptake in the frontal lobe, but it also happens in other parts of the brain as well. More of the brain is involved, and the brain can’t absorb glucose very well anymore. The good news is that ketones can be used as fuel to bypass the damage and feed the neurons in the brain. Ketones are actually the preferred fuel and the type of fuel that our brains desperately need. How to feed the brain more ketones: 1. A low-carb diet (healthy keto) 2. Do intermittent fasting 3. Get exogenous ketones (ketone salts) 4. Do MCT oil Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. 7 Best Natural Laxatives

Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! In this quick podcast, I’m going to share with you the 7 best natural laxatives. If you’re constipated, it could be that the problem that you have is mainly in the large intestine more than the small intestine. The large intestine has smooth muscle that allows it to contract and push food along the tract. The best natural laxatives: 1. Senna 2. Cascara sagrada 3. Black psyllium (swells with water) 4. Castor oil 5. Magnesium 6. Vegetables (fermented) 7. Probiotics People often say they don’t want to take a laxative because they may be addicting. But, the toxic effect of having chronic constipation can be very dangerous to the body vs. the minor side effect of taking a laxative. You might experience a small drop in potassium from taking a laxative, but you can easily take more potassium. Ultimately, you want to correct what’s really causing the constipation, which usually is what you’re eating, or a lack of friendly bacteria. What is Menopause... Really
Today I’m going to cover what menopause really is as well as a few things that may help with it. What is menopause? It’s a situation where a woman is running out of eggs. Around age 51, you don’t have any more eggs left. This means no more menstruation or pregnancy. Symptoms of menopause: • Hot flashes • Vaginal dryness • Vaginal atrophy • Mood changes • Weight gain • Loss of libido • Bone loss • Atrophy What actually is happening with menopause is you’re getting a shift in hormones. There are three hormones that are involved: estrogen, testosterone, and progesterone. After menopause, you have a drop in these hormones, especially progesterone. Progesterone works with estrogen—it counters estrogen. This massive drop in progesterone can cause estrogen dominance symptoms even though estrogen has dropped as well. Progesterone makes estrogen seem higher because it drops so much more. Progesterone is really behind many of the issues that occur during menopause. You have a back-up mechanism called your adrenals. The adrenals also make estrogen, testosterone, and progesterone. But, if the adrenals are weak going into menopause and they aren’t able to back up the ovaries appropriately, you may start seeing problems with these hormones. In reality, the menopause symptoms above are not normal. If the adrenals are weak, that’s when you start to see problems. It’s important to support the adrenals before you get into menopause and try to keep your stress low. Natural things you can do to help with menopause: 1. Support the adrenals 2. Do not go on a low-fat diet 3. Counter high cortisol 4. Increase progesterone 5. Vitamin E Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. In this podcast, we’re going to talk about vitamin C, and something called a subclinical vitamin C deficiency. You may have heard of scurvy, which is a severe vitamin C deficiency. This is also called a classical vitamin C deficiency. A subclinical vitamin C deficiency means you have some vitamin C, but you don’t have the full amount. What does vitamin C do? • It works as an antioxidant • It’s involved in collagen growth and repair • It helps make noradrenaline • It’s necessary in the function of carnitine • Your white blood cells are saturated with vitamin C Scurvy symptoms: • Wounds that can’t heal • Gingivitis • Perifollicular hemorrhage • Fatigue • Red/purple blotches Foods that are rich in vitamin C: • Papaya (I don’t recommend) • Kiwi (I don’t recommend) • Bell peppers • Greens • Berries • Cruciferous vegetables Many people also take vitamin C supplements. Just be sure your supplement is not synthetic. Make sure it’s food-based. Acerola cherry is also a great source of vitamin C. Things that can inhibit vitamin C absorption and potentially cause vitamin C deficiency signs: • Smoking • Pregnancy • Age • Overtraining • Sugar Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Egg Yolk vs Egg White: What's the Difference?

Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! I want to talk about the difference between egg yolk and egg white. This is a question I get a lot. Many people only eat egg whites because they think that egg yolk is unhealthy, and it will lead to clogged arteries. This is a big mistake. Most of the good nutrition is in the yolk. Yes, egg yolks contain cholesterol, but this will not clog your arteries. Keep in mind that when you consume cholesterol, your body simply makes less of it. In fact, only around 25% of your cholesterol comes from your diet—your body makes the other 75%. You need cholesterol for your brain, cells, membranes, and hormone production. Egg yolks also contain healthy fat-soluble vitamins—A, E, D, and K2. In addition, it contains trace minerals, vitamin B12, folate, phospholipids, calcium, and immunoglobins. Egg whites contain most of the protein, avidin, B2, B3, magnesium, and potassium. I recommend that you consume both egg yolk and egg white. Always go with farm-raised and organic eggs. Why Your Fat Determines Your Vitamin D

I recently did a video on why vitamin D can help you lose weight. Today, we’re going to talk about the reverse of that. This is a complex subject, but I’m going to try to make it really simple. Basically, we’re talking about how much fat you have on your body, and you’re vitamin D levels. There are two things you need to know: 1. The fatter you are, the less vitamin D you’re going to have. 2. When you lose weight, you increase your vitamin D level. Why do your vitamin D levels go up when you lose weight? There is a relationship between body fat and vitamin D. A lack of vitamin D can increase weight. But, the missing piece of the puzzle is insulin and insulin resistance. Insulin resistance causes your body to store fat and prevents fat burning. It’s also behind type 2 diabetes. Insulin causes pre-fat cells to turn into fat. Insulin and insulin resistance increase fat. The more fat you have, the more insulin and insulin resistance you’re going to have. When you take vitamin D, you actually lower insulin and improve insulin resistance. This is why it’s so essential for people who have prediabetes, diabetes, or insulin resistance to take vitamin D. The reason why your fat cells determine your vitamin D levels really has to do with this: • The more fat you have, the more insulin you have. The more insulin you have, the more insulin resistance you have. • When you lose weight, and you have less weight on your body, you’re going to have less insulin, less insulin resistance, and more vitamin D. Why Do I Feel Worse When Eating Red Meat?

Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! I want to talk about why you might feel bad after consuming red meat. There are actually two reasons you might have problems with red meat. First, you may not have enough hydrochloric acid in your stomach to digest the protein. This is a common problem, and it’s easy to fix. All you need to do is to take some betaine hydrochloride and apple cider vinegar capsules. This will help increase your stomach’s acidity so you can properly digest red meat. Many people have this problem as they get older. The second issue that you may be accumulating too much iron. While iron is essential for a healthy body, too much can be a problem. The thing is, our bodies don’t have a natural mechanism to get rid of iron. So if you have too much, you can develop some problems, including liver issues, headaches, joint pain, fatigue, and insomnia. The two types of iron are heme iron and non-heme iron. Non-heme iron doesn’t cause as much of a problem as heme iron. How to reduce iron: • Give blood • Avoid heme iron • Avoid iron supplements • Phytate (IP6) • EDTA • Antioxidants Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! We’re going to talk about the side effects of vitamin D and how they can actually occur because of a magnesium deficiency. Side effects of vitamin D: • Headaches • Insomnia • Restlessness • Muscle cramps • Palpitations • Anxiety • Constipation Magnesium is needed for vitamin D to be absorbed. Magnesium helps lower the side effects of taking vitamin D, even though the side effects are not from vitamin D—they’re from a magnesium deficiency. Most people have a subclinical magnesium deficiency. Magnesium: • Is a cofactor for 300 enzymes • Is involved in protein synthesis • Helps regulate blood sugars • Is involved in energy production • Is involved in making glutathione The only side effect of vitamin D (large amounts without vitamin K2) could be hypercalcemia symptoms. But this is very rare. Magnesium-rich foods: • Leafy greens (at least 7 cups per day) • Pumpkin seeds • Nuts What you can do in this situation is take some magnesium with your vitamin D, and that may help these symptoms clear up. There are some cases where vitamin D won’t work, and that can be because of: • A problem with the gallbladder • Liver damage • Kidney damage • Not taking vitamin K2 • Gastric bypass • GI issues Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods.
