Ep 233Lessons Learned During a 30 Year Mining Career With Steve Letwin Chairman of Cassiar Gold

In this episode, we chat to Steve Letwin, Chairman of Cassiar Gold, a Canadian exploration company focused on the exploration of its two gold projects in British Columbia — the Cassiar Gold and the Sheep Creek Gold projects. Steve brings over 30 years of experience from the resource sector, where he specialises in corporate finance, operational management, and merger and acquisitions, including 10 years as President and CEO of IAMGOLD. He talks about his career, lessons he learned, and the importance of NPV within a mining company and discusses his exciting new project with Cassiar Gold. KEY TAKEAWAYS Having a strong team on the ground and listening to them is vital. It makes the impossible possible. Hire locally and help the community to build the skills they need to continue to prosper even if the mine closes. You can't do it all. Get the right people in the right slots. Then, empower and equip them. Show your shareholders a path to success to maximise your share value. Cassier Gold has just over a million ounces, which are economically recoverable and of high value. There is already infrastructure, water, and power, from past mining activity, on-site. The relationship with the community is excellent. When it is easy to raise cash, raise as much as you can. Poor cash flow kills profitable companies. Gold has a huge future. The dollar as a haven is coming under pressure. Other reasons for gold´s strength are discussed in the episode. Invest in companies that can replace depletion. Junior CEOs always overestimate their honeymoon period. If you don't demonstrate progress, investors will leave. BEST MOMENTS ‘If you give people the opportunity to succeed, they will perform. ´ ‘Never lose control of the balance sheet and get into the position where you have to give the company away.’ ‘I see a very, very robust future for commodities.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://cassiargold.com/ Shirley Antony Cassiar Gold LinkedIn: https://ca.linkedin.com/in/shirley-anthony-5a93348 Shirley Antony Cassiar Gold Email: [email protected] VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. In this episode, we chat with Mitch Vanderydt, CEO of NorthGold AB. A Swedish-listed gold exploration and development company with resource-stage projects in Finland Mitch has a background in geotechnical engineering and metals and mining research. He has stepped into a CEO role recently and talks about NorthGold AB and what it’s like mining in Finland. A jurisdiction that has been ranked 3rd highest in the world by the Fraser Institute. KEY TAKEAWAYS North Gold´s assets are in central Finland which is a relatively under-explored area. Around half of the 4 million euros raised during their recent IPO will be spent on core drilling. North Gold has a broad and experienced team in place. They are an advanced stage explorer with 725,000 ounces of gold equivalent resources. There is also some copper. Finland is a mining-friendly country, for the most part. It takes a while to get a mine up and running in Finland. But from that point on things go smoothly. NorthGold is commencing drilling in May 2022. IP surveys at both sites will be completed during 2022. In 2023, they are planning to drill another 5,000 meters. BEST MOMENTS ‘Our goal is to grow our resources, hopefully, make discoveries …it’s the best way to get share price appreciation. ´ ‘We try to keep a lean team to minimize our GNA costs.’ ‘We think Finland is a great place to do business.’ EPISODE RESOURCES LinkedIn North Gold: https://www.linkedin.com/company/northgold/ LinkedIn Mitch Vanderydt: https://www.linkedin.com/in/mitch-vanderydt-41551022 VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 230The Benefits of Taking Social Performance Seriously With Tricia Wilhelm

In this episode, we chat with Tricia Wilhelm, Head of Social Performance for Anglo American, one of the largest and most diversified mining companies in the world. Tricia has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the mining industry. Her experience has been around Sustainable Development, Social Performance, Stakeholder Engagement, Resettlement, and Social Impact Assessment. We are here today to have a more in-depth discussion around ESG and social performance and how we as a mining community can better prepare ourselves for future changes in the industry. KEY TAKEAWAYS Social performance is about everything you are doing to maintain your social license to operate. It is not about philanthropy or one-off donations or infrastructure builds. Modern miners need to take a proactive approach to social performance. Social performance needs to be a consideration at all stages. In the same way, things like cost and technology are. A lot of mining companies do not employ people with the right experience or provide them with enough resources to be able to work proactively. Social performance is a bit part of the E and G aspects of ESG. In the podcast, Tricia demonstrates why that is the case. People do not want to work for companies that do not have a positive impact. To get your social performance right you need to work in a truly cross-disciplinary way. The industry needs to work more collaboratively to improve social performance. It costs less, is more effective, and improves the acceptance of mining as an industry. BEST MOMENTS ‘Social performance is all about those ongoing activities that are happening with local communities and stakeholders. ´ ‘When you don't do this right (social performance) it will cost you.’ ‘Leadership commitment is really critical.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://www.angloamerican.com/ LinkedIn: https://uk.linkedin.com/in/tricia-wilhelm-4a400412 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/angloamericanplc/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/AngloAmerican Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AngloAmerican/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/angloamerican SlideShare: https://www.slideshare.net/angloamerican VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 228Mining High-Grade Copper-Gold And Polymetals in Sweden With Peter George

In this episode, we chat with Peter George, MD for Alicanto Minerals who are an exploration company with a portfolio of historically producing, high-grade Copper-Gold and Polymetallic Skarn and VMS projects located in Sweden. Peter is a mining engineer and mineral economist with a background in operations and management and more recently in executive management. He talks to us about Alicanto Minerals and their historic Sala project plus what it’s like to mine in Sweden. KEY TAKEAWAYS Alicanto has been uncovering rich deposits of copper, gold, zinc, silver, lead, and other assets in Sweden. They are a couple of months out from setting up their maiden resource at Sala. Gaining access to the historical records revealed 20,000 litres of the historical core. At 1244 grams per tonne, the historical silver grades were crazy high. Drilling using the latest technology has revealed assets that were not in the historical data, at Sala. Security worries, the drive to zero carbon, and low stockpiles are pushing governments to facilitate faster permitting. Free trade is being replaced by protectionism, which means a will to mine raw materials locally. Not all areas of Sweden move as quickly as the authorities have done in the Sala area. To succeed in mining, push yourself to learn new things, put yourself out there, and do as much as you can before you have family responsibilities. BEST MOMENTS ‘Sweden has its own particular nuances around permitting and timing, but with experience, you can navigate yourself through. ´ ‘The stockpiles of copper, zinc, the basics we need for everyday life are down to weeks.’ ‘I see massive opportunities for European mining.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://www.alicantominerals.com.au/ LinkedIn: https://au.linkedin.com/company/alicanto-minerals-ltd Twitter: https://twitter.com/AusAlicanto Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AlicantoMinerals/ VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 227Multi Metal Mining in Wales And Other Global Assets With Jo Battershill

In this episode, we chat to Jo Battershill, MD, and CEO of Anglesey Mining - a UK mining listed company that is listed on the LSE (and soon to be AIM). It has interests in Wales, Sweden, and Canada. The main property is their Parys Mountain project in Wales. It hosts a significant polymetallic zinc, copper, lead, silver, and gold deposit. Jo has a mining geology background but has also worked in finance and has a well-rounded career and more recently worked in a non-executive capacity for a few mining entities. Jo tells us all about their historical Parys Mountain project in Wales. KEY TAKEAWAYS The mine on Anglesey was established in 1988, but when the zinc price plummeted development stalled. The most recent analysis shows that this is now primarily a copper asset. Between 40 and 45%. Zinc represents circa 35% of the deposit. With silver, lead, and gold making up the rest. The site can be mined using a very small footprint. The local community is immensely proud of the mine and their heritage and are supportive. They are planning to extract between 15,000 and 20,000 tonnes per year. Resources are sitting in 4 bands from just beneath the surface to a depth of about 600 metres. The Grangesberg iron ore site in Sweden is a strategic asset. What Sweden is doing with zero carbon steel production is amazing. In April, Anglesey Mining will be on AIM. BEST MOMENTS ‘The project never failed for technical reasons. It´s failed because of market timing. ´ ‘I think it’s actually harder to permit a new operation than it is to find one.’ ‘It’s really part of the heritage of the town and people are genuinely supportive.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://www.angleseymining.co.uk LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/anglesey-mining-plc Twitter: https://twitter.com/AngleseyMining VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. There is a lot of liquidity, but environmental concerns mean that not enough of that cash is reaching the mining industry. At the same time, the world is desperate for the metals needed for green energy infrastructure. Demand for uranium is likely to boom. Calls for nuclear energy are growing. Africa is perfectly placed for this. Renewables will continue to grow, but people are now questioning how viable and green they really are. Africa has great potential for mining. But large swathes of it have been mortgaged to the Chinese. Investors with fewer ESG concerns than Western investors are moving fast and are picking up vital assets in Africa. African brownfield exploration is uncovering large deposits. Africa still has huge thermal coal reserves. They will use it to produce power and global demand means this is a growth area. Clean coal technology makes it far greener than most people realise. Some of the world´s most important mines are in countries with resource, political unrest, and war issues. Most Western infrastructure is 100+ years old and needs replacing. So, demand for iron ore should increase. BEST MOMENTS ‘There´s a lot of questions around renewables that one has to be awake to. ´ ‘Platinum and palladium are repositioning themselves very strongly as energy metals.’ ‘There´s a huge reset coming, in my view, and the mining and energy sector values will go ballistic.’ ‘Almost every base metal commodity will be in serious deficit by next year.’ EPISODE RESOURCES LinkedIn: https://za.linkedin.com/in/alan-m-clegg-pr-eng-00227a9 VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 225Extracting Low-Cost High-Quality Heavy Rare Earths From Adsorption Clay Deposits With Tim Harrison

In this episode, we speak to Tim Harrison, MD of Ionic Rare Earths that is focused on developing its flagship Makuutu Rare Earths project in Uganda into a significant, low-cost, supplier of high-value critical and heavy rare earths. Tim has a chemical and metallurgy background with a track record across both mineral processing and hydrometallurgy. He has worked with a wide range of commodities and talks to us more about Ionic Rare Earths. Including providing a project update. KEY TAKEAWAYS The Makuutu Rare Earths project in Uganda is an ionic adsorption clay deposit. It is easier, faster, and cheaper to extract Rare Earth Elements (REEs) from clay than it is from hard rock ore. Adsorption clay deposits give you a different basket of metals. Heavy Rare Earth Elements are used across multiple sectors including zero-carbon, medical, military, and EVs. Without heavy rare earths, you cannot have the permanent magnet motors the electric vehicle and offshore wind industries need. Thirty-three percent of their production is magnetic rare earths. Ionic liquids technology is making separation far faster and easier. Ionic Rare Earths are also involved in developing technology that recycles spent magnets. Demand for rare earths will increase drastically in the next 10 years. Without magnet rare earths, net-zero goals cannot be achieved. BEST MOMENTS ‘Organic adsorption clay produces a different composition of rare earth elements. ´ ‘We've got 33% of our basket being neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium, and terbium, which are the four key magnet rare earths.’ ‘We´ve had tremendous support from the Ugandan authorities.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://ionicre.com.au/ LinkedIn: https://au.linkedin.com/company/ionic-rare-earths-limited Twitter: https://twitter.com/ionic_re?lang=en Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/124924299561369/ Email: [email protected] VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 224How Sustainability And Digital Tools Are Reducing Production Costs With Ricus Grimbeek

In the episode, we chat to Ricus Grimbeek, CEO of Trevali Mining Corp. A global zinc producer operating three revenue-generating mines focused on delivering sustainable shareholder value through transformative technology and ESG practices. Their property portfolio is focused and located in established mining jurisdictions of Canada, Burkina Faso, and Namibia Ricus is a mine engineer by background with over 30 years of industry experience in South Africa, Australia, and Canada. He tells us how he is leading a team that is building the world’s most sustainable underground mining company. KEY TAKEAWAYS It is possible to guarantee the safety of people who work within mining or live in mined areas. If we don't aim for the stars we are never going to reach them. Challenging goals stretch us and improve the industry as a whole. It is possible to protect the environment, while mining. For example, one of their mines gets 30% of its power from solar. Mentoring and coaching are powerful tools everyone should be using. The difference between the two is discussed in the podcast. Trevali plans to expand its mine by 86%. Trevali has developed digital tools and a hybrid working approach that enables them to plan the work to the hour and drop production costs from $1 to 67cents. Planning and scheduling enable you to get the most out of digital tools and the data it produces. The mine life has already been extended to 12 years and with a JV they believe that can become 20 years. Their Caribou, Canada multi-metal mine is using rapid oxidative leeching to treat ore and tailings and turn them into metal. The initial results of oxidative leeching are good. The technique will result in the production of saleable gold. Putting tailings underground shrinks the mine´s footprint and reduces water usage. Creating a safe workspace where people can speak up and be themselves automatically creates an inclusive and diverse workforce. BEST MOMENTS ‘I took the role…to create the most sustainable mining company. I know that is bold. But if you don't aim for the stars you will never reach them. ´ ‘You can use AI to monitor high-risk areas and improve safety.’ ‘You can´t bolt sustainability onto your business. It has to be at the core of how you design.’ EPISODE RESOURCES LinkedIn Ricus Grimbeek: https://ca.linkedin.com/in/ricus-grimbeekWebsite: https://trevali.comLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/trevaliTwitter: https://twitter.com/trevaliFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/TrevaliMining VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 223How True Inclusivity is Benefiting the Mining Industry with Stacy Hope

In this episode, we chat with Dr. Stacy Hope, who is the MD of Women in Mining UK and a global advisor on subjects including ESG, Social Investing, Climate, gender Smart Cities, and Resilience. She has a background in Anthropology and talks to us about Women in Mining and their purpose and discusses some topics around ESG, social investing, and gender equality. KEY TAKEAWAYS Dr. Stacy is a strategic advisor for various multilateral agencies including the UN Group and The World Bank, and also works across the fields of agriculture and water. In many cases, mining really defines the communities in which it takes place, which makes it a potent force for social change. Mining companies are increasingly seeing the value of having women working within the industry. Being underrepresented within an industry creates challenges. In the episode, Stacey explains some of them and how this leads to a high drop-off rate. The progress paths within the industry still fit in better with the family responsibilities men tend to have than those that many women have. Internships are an excellent way to attract more women into the industry. Having women working at all levels of an organization in a range of roles changes the organizational norms. It opens everyone´s minds to the possibilities. The industry employing more women in jurisdictions where women are still treated as 2nd class citizens is proving to be a very powerful catalyst for social change. WIM100 is raising awareness of the possibilities for women in mining, across the world. Demonstrating the benefits of diversity in mining, while boosting the careers of nominees. BEST MOMENTS ‘We need to think of innovative ways to bring all genders, all ethnicities to the forefront.’ ‘Maybe mining needs to think a bit more about the skill set. About the talent as opposed to the education.’ ‘Let´s get that forward-thinking, future-proofing strategic thinking going.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Dr. Stacy Hope LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/stacyhope84/ Dr. Stacy Hope Twitter: @SAAHConsultancy WIM100 website: https://www.womeninmining.org.uk/wim100/ WIM Twitter: @WIM_UK WIM Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/WomenInMiningUK WIM LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/women-in-mining-uk-/ WIM Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/women_in_mining_uk/?igshid=7tm9rcyywmwp INDABA 2022: https://miningindaba.com/Home VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 222Exploiting Gold, Copper, Vanadium And More Assets in Multiple Jurisdictions With Scott Hicks

In this episode, we chat with Scott Hicks, VP of Corporate Development & Communications for Luminex Resources, a Vancouver-based Canadian & precious metals exploration and development company focusing on a Gold and Copper project in Ecuador. Over the last decades, Scott has worked on a variety of equity, debt, and advisory assignments in Canada and Australia. He talks about the company, its projects, and the general outlook for commodities. Luminex Resources is one of Ross Beaty’s development companies so be sure to listen. KEY TAKEAWAYS Luminex has the largest gold deposit in Ecuador, one of the biggest in the world, which also contains billions of pounds of copper. In 2022, the focus is their gold drilling programs and are advancing permitting for their vanadium and other projects. Their Ecuador-based partners include Anglo American and JOGMEC. Much of Ecuador has not been thoroughly explored using modern techniques. In 2013/14, the government began to actively encourage mining once again. The infrastructure in Ecuador is excellent, with good roads, hydropower, modern port facilities, and plenty of water. Many communities welcome mining, but in certain areas, there is some resistance. There is potential for more vanadium redox battery usage, so Luminex has a small company targeting that metal. Vanadium batteries don´t degrade, which makes a leasing model viable, that reduces the upfront costs involved in their use. Luminex has a good mix of assets in mining-friendly jurisdictions. The price outlook for gold is positive. In the podcast, Scott explains why he believes that is the case. With copper, grades from existing mines are degrading and new facilities are not coming on stream fast enough to meet demand. So, the copper price should remain strong. The company is also investing in and incubating other people´s mining projects. Examples of which are shared in the podcast. BEST MOMENTS ‘We are sitting at about 17 million ounces of gold right now and about 2.2 billion pounds of copper. ´ ‘In Ecuador, the permitting process… is actually pretty fast.’ ‘It´s early days in the vanadium space... but we´ve seen prices north of $600 a tonne for pig iron.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Websites: https://luminagold.com/ https://luminexresources.com/ https://strategic-res.com/ Twitter: @Scott_ITBM @lumina_gold @LuminexRes @StrategicRes VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 221Transforming Mine Planning to Improve Profits with Mark Bowater

In this episode, we chat with Mark Bowater, an experienced mine engineer and business owner with over 30 years of industry experience. In Australia, he worked with some of the majors and, during his career, has had directorships & ownerships of companies. Mark has recently written a free book called "Crimes Against Mine Planning". During this podcast, he tells us more about the book and why he thinks mine planning is a broken model, and what needs to be used instead. KEY TAKEAWAYS Mark´s aim is to leave the mining industry in better shape than it was 30 years ago. His book is a part of that. The book is written so that stakeholders, surveyors, and everyone can understand the mine planning process. The current approach to mine planning does not take enough account of the physical realities of mining. Probabilistic planning is a far more effective approach. It enables you to recognise that delays happen and have a plan in place that can quickly be adapted. Optimistic planning assumptions shorten the shelf life of the plan, which undermines the role of mine planners. Using software, that is being developed, it will be possible to plan using a probabilistic approach rather than continuing to use a deterministic model. Performance motivating should not be a part of the mine plan. It needs to be benchmarked separately. BEST MOMENTS ‘I´ve spent 30 years working in the industry. I would now like to work on the industry. ´ ‘The solution is stochastic or probabilistic planning.’ ‘We have a lack of KPIs that measure the quality of mine plans… we focus on the wrong things.’ ‘Writing the book has forced me to think at a deeper level.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Link to the free PDF version of Crimes Against Mine Planning: https://markbowater.com/shop/ols/products/crimes-against-mine-planning-ebook The paid version of the book: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Crimes-Against-Mine-Planning-Pitfalls-ebook/dp/B09SXL8MVR/ Website: https://markbowater.com/ LinkedIn: https://au.linkedin.com/in/mineplanningguru VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 219Trends That Are Redefining Mining in 2022 with Andrew Swart

In this episode, we chat with Andrew Swart, Global Mining and Metals Leader at Deloitte. He talks about their recently released 2022 Global Mining Trends Report. A report that focuses on the top 10 trends that will impact the mining industry in the next 12-18 months. KEY TAKEAWAYS This year´s report focuses on redefining the mining industry. There are currently many external forces driving change. Including, ESG, changing values, labour forces, and changes in demand. A lack of talent is making a huge difference to the culture of mining. Turning to less traditional talent pools and adopting more flexible working practices is helping the industry to bridge the gap. Many talented people now want to be a part of positive change and look for that when deciding where to work. Companies are now thinking more about how to mitigate the risk from climate change, e.g., more flooding and inclement weather. The value chain is changing, new customer bases are coming on stream. There are broader geopolitical and tax risks. Something Andrew covers in detail during the podcast. A lack of cyber security is a big issue. They operate in Mexico where they engage in exploration, development, and operation of polymetallic mineral resource projects Ralph is a geologist by background. He has been with the company for an incredible 36 years. Ralph is on the podcast to talk about the company and its gold and zinc projects, entrepreneurship, and growth areas in the industry. KEY TAKEAWAYS Altaley Mining Corp is just a few weeks away from getting their first ball mill up and running at Tahuehueto. With the 2nd one coming on stream later in 2022. By mid-2022 production will be at 1000 tonnes a day. They are close to completing testing of two technologies. Both of which have boosted gold and silver extraction levels. They are currently pulling in $2 to $3 million EBITA from their Campo Morado polymetallic mine. By mid-2022 they will start to produce a copper concentrate alongside the zinc they already mine. Copper is a commodity that should perform well for the long term. The Campo Morado mine produces around 2,000 tonnes a day and has a 20-year life. Both projects have several opportunities to expand, which Ralph talks about in the episode. There is a lot of growth potential for the Alt-a-lay stock price. Ralph explains why, during the podcast. The fact there are not enough people around with the right knowledge means that there are still lots of opportunities within the mining sector. BEST MOMENTS ‘Mining companies are making great money these days. ´ ‘We hope to be able to justify an expansion from 1000 tonnes per day….to 3000 tonnes in 3 to 5 years.’ ‘There are some very good opportunities for young people…in the mining sector.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://www.altaleymining.com/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/altaleyminingTwitter: https://twitter.com/altaleyminingFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/AltaleyMining/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/altaleyminingEmail: [email protected] VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 215Mining a Tier One USA Asset for Gold and Silver with George Salamis

In this episode, we chat to George Salamis, President, and CEO of Interga Resources who is a development-stage mining company focused on the exploration and de-risking of the past-producing DeLamar Gold-Silver Project in Idaho, USA. George has a geology background and over 30 years of experience in the mining and resource exploration industry and has been involved in over $2 billion of M&A transactions, either through assets sales or his involvement with junior mining companies. He tells us more about Interga Resources and what the future holds for them moving forward with the PFS. KEY TAKEAWAYS The DeLamar project was acquired from Kinross. Interga is taking a different approach to once again extract gold and silver there. The infrastructure that was left behind when Kinross stopped mining there in the 90s, is still available. Using heat bleaching will create cash flow to build the mill, should it be financially attractive to do so. The project can be scaled slowly or quickly, to fit in with market conditions, which minimises risk and maximises profits. When in full production again DeLamar will be one of the largest gold and silver producers in the USA. Idaho understands the benefits of mining and are very welcoming. Integra has already found over a hundred intersects of high-grade finds and has many more targeted areas to explore. This is a tier-one asset in a low-risk jurisdiction. Ep 214Mine No. 3 Profitable Ahead of Schedule and Annual Production Reaches Half a Million Ounces with Jeff Quartermaine

In this episode, we have a returning guest who appeared back in July 2019 (Episode 36). Jeff Quartermaine is the MD & CEO of Perseus Mining who are a rapidly growing, West African gold producer, developer, and explorer who currently operate 3 gold mines in Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire. Jeff has been with Perseus for over 12 years and has more than 30 years of experience in senior corporate, financial, and strategic management roles with ASX and TSX-listed resources companies involving operations in Australia, as well as countries in the Asia Pacific, South America, and West Africa. Jeff gives us an update on the tremendous progress the company has achieved over the last 2.5 years and what the outlook is for the company over the next few years. KEY TAKEAWAYS Despite CoVid Perseus has been able to finish the construction of their 3rd mine (Yaouré), ahead of schedule and under budget. They have built 2 successful mines, in the past 4 years. In December 2021, they poured the first gold at Yaouré and started commercial production in March 2021. During the remainder of 2021, they produced 199,000 ounces from Yaouré. The Yaouré Gold Mine and area has far more minerals than anticipated. Currently, the company is producing half a million ounces of gold, per year, with between 300 and 400 million in cashflow Over the next 10 years they are planning to grow by exploring and possibly via acquisitions. Mining in Africa holds challenges because there is a lot of competition for land and in some places rogue miners to deal with. Due to difficult geo-politics both the Saudi and Namibian shields are under-explored. But conditions are now right for extensive exploration to start. BEST MOMENTS ‘That rapid increase got us to 199,000 ounces in calendar 21. ´ ‘It looks very much to me that we will be mining at Yaouré for many years to come.’ ‘We are very resilient, we don´t get knocked off course easily.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://perseusmining.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/perseus-mining-limited Twitter: https://twitter.com/perseusmining Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/PerseusMiningOfficial/ Previous Episode (36) with Jeff Quartermaine: https://backtracks.fm/discover/s/dig-deep-the-mining-podcast-podcast/c3e27a531b2932b7/e/jeff-quartermaine-of-the-challenges-of-mining/f8801451b981d0c5?primaryColor=%232DDBAD&theme=light VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 212Gold Has Weathered the Storm and the Future is Bright with Krishan Gopaul

In this episode, we speak to Krishan Gopaul, Senior Research Analyst at the World Gold Council. He discusses what happened with Gold Demand Trends in 2021 and in more current times, the Gold Market outlook for 2022, and what the Gold market expects. KEY TAKEAWAYS In 2021, the jewellery, technology, and motoring sectors recovered, so demand for gold was strong from them. The Indian jewellery market was especially interesting. Demand from banks was high. Krishan explains why and which ones bought the most. Inflation is leading to consumers investing in gold coins. Krishan shares the figures and the story behind that. But high ETF outflows dragged down the overall investment level. For ETFs, there are currently very strong competing forces at play, which makes it hard to predict what will happen. In January, inflows into ETFs were strong. Krishan explains why, during the podcast. For mining, the picture was mixed. Krishan talks through which jurisdictions were up and which were down and explains why. Most supply issues have been resolved. So far, higher demand for cryptocurrencies has not really impacted demand levels for gold. The dynamics for gold, during 2022, are likely to be similar to 2021. BEST MOMENTS ‘For gold ETFs, we saw outflows of about 173 tonnes, which was the first outflows for a couple of years. ´ ‘We saw about 463 tonnes of gold demand from central banks, last year, that 82% higher.’ ‘Gold will face very similar dynamics in 2022 as it did in 2021.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://goldhub.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/KrishanGopaul VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 210How Technology and Robotics are Transforming the Mining Industry - with Michelle Ash

In this episode, we chat with Michele Ash again who appeared back in April 2019 (Ep 22). She is about to join OZ Minerals in a newly created role as a technology executive which will involve work around digital, robotics and automation, mining technology, and transformation Michelle talks about how the industry is using robotic mining now and will do so in the future. As well as the subjects of using small swarm robots to mine and using blockchain as a way to drive exploration investment. KEY TAKEAWAYS If the industry wants to lower costs, drive zero-carbon, and improve people´s lives it has to embrace technology fast. Robots can solve 5 broad problems for the mining industry. In the podcast, Michelle explains what they are and how robots will help. Finding every last scrap of a resource is essential. Especially copper, which we desperately need to decarbonise. Technology will help. Automation creates data that the industry can use to better understand and improve processes as well as solve more of its problems. Robots make mines safer, for example, barring and blast robots. Automated technology has the potential to make mining more precise, reducing waste and impact. When mines are more productive, more people will be needed to process the ore and to maintain the robotics. Free robotic repair and technology courses are now widely available, including online. The industry must not grab technology then look for a problem to solve with it. How the industry applies risk is slowing the adaption of technology down. Michelle explains why in the podcast. Working on technological solutions collaboratively with other companies greatly reduces the cost. BEST MOMENTS ‘Mining touches every person on the planet, every day. ´ ‘There are 5 broad problems the mining industry is trying to solve… all of which robotics can help with.’ ‘Flipping from focusing on the technology to focusing on the problem will be really important.’ EPISODE RESOURCES LinkedIn: https://au.linkedin.com/in/michelleash Michelle´s last appearance on DDM podcast - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/interview-chair-gmg-global-mining-guidelines-group/id1440020656?i=1000436364498&l=ca VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 209Exploring and Mining the Virgin Mineral and Gold Resources of Greenland with Eldur Olafsson

In this episode, we chat to Eldur Olafsson, Founder, and CEO at AEX Gold, a Greenland-focussed mining company engaged in the identification, acquisition, exploration, and development of gold properties in Greenland. Eldur has a background in geology. He talks about AEX Gold and what they have been up to recently. Eldur also discusses Greenland as a mining jurisdiction and talks about the companies exploring this under-developed country with huge potential. KEY TAKEAWAYS Southern Greenland has a lot of surface minerals and rare earth, as well as a gold belt. The whole country has barely been explored. Now that demand is high, it is economically viable to explore and mine in Greenland. $150 million has been invested in civil infrastructure and Greenland is a stable country. With the right equipment, it is easy to operate year-round in Greenland. Most of it is barren, so it is relatively easy to mine in an environmentally friendly way. All of the political parties are highly supportive of mining. Most of the country is now licensed and is being explored by well-established companies. Bringing Nalunaq, a high-rate gold mine, back into production is currently AEX Gold´s main project. Nalunaq has full permits and there are other high-grade minerals there, close to the surface. In AEX Gold´s other assets they are finding multiple minerals and metals. Including the ones needed for the green revolution. The island is sparsely populated, so recruiting enough people will be difficult. But many Greenlanders are choosing to train to work in the industry. The aim is to ensure that when the mines are finished the community continues to benefit e.g., green power sources and re-vegetation of areas. BEST MOMENTS ‘Nalunaq is one of the highest gold rate mines in the world. ´ ‘Greenland opened up only in 2009.’ ‘We are now sitting on what I believe is one of the best land and districts for strategic precious metals.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Twitter: https://twitter.com/AexGold LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/aexgold/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/aexgoldnews/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Nalunaq-AS-102208515575690/ Website: https://www.aexgold.com/projects/nalunaq/ VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 207Upwards And Onwards: The Continuing Success Of Altus Strategies - with Steven Poulton

In this episode, we chat with a returning guest that appeared in June 2019 on episode 31. Steven Poulton is the co-founder of Altus Strategies who are a project and royalty generator in the mining sector with a focus on Africa who creates value by making mineral discoveries across multiple licences. They are listed on the London & Toronto Stock Exchange, and we get an update on what they have been doing since we last spoke and discuss what projects they have been involved in. KEY TAKEAWAYS Since 2020, there have been major disruptions around the world. In Atuls's case, they have doubled in size, and found even more ways to work harder - first because of royalty acquisitions, and secondly because of the company's ability to train up geologists and the mobilisation of operations. In Egypt, there are many opportunities for gold exploration, including projections of six-to-ten million dollars in cashflow per year from the royalty portfolio, as well as monetising the gold deposits in other areas. Africa has been quieter in terms of royalty, but tis is largely due to 90% of the royalty base being North-American based these days. There is a huge geopolitical move towards electrification in terms of economy in the next two to three years, but this will depend on what the western world can achieve when it comes to renewables such as wind and solar. BEST MOMENTS 'It's been a busy two-and-a-half years!' 'We have found new and innovative ways to work even harder' 'If we're successful with Mother Nature, we'll be able to replicate what we've done' 'We think that gold is a great place to be for the next two to three years' EPISODE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: altus-strategies.com Twitter: @Altusstrategies LinkedIn: linkedin.com/company/altus-strategies VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ben has a background in the financial markets and also worked as an investigative writer so has been involved in many transactions within the mining industry. He is going to tell us about Kavango Resources and give us an update on the exciting things they are involved in. KEY TAKEAWAYS Kavango Resources is a single jurisdiction business with 15,000 sq. kilometers, in Botswana, set across several geological regions. The fact that 70% of the country is desert has restricted historic exploration. So, there is a lot of potential. Modern remote sensing technology is penetrating the deep sand and uncovering opportunities. Successfully deploying new technology has given Kavango a real competitive edge. Kavango plans to focus on making discoveries, then, selling them. Keeping things simple and cashing in fast. In Nov 2020, they raised £2 million at £2.75 per share. Ben explains how he is using his knowledge of how the market works to protect and grow Kavango Resources the right way. Investing in small-cap exploration stocks is something you need to be careful with. But you really can make life-changing money. BEST MOMENTS ‘While fire can nourish and sustain, it can also burn, so people have to be careful to understand the environment they are working in. ´ ‘Botswana is largely virgin territory. Upgrades in remote sensing technology is helping explore it.’ ‘I will do the right thing. I am not the sort of person to put my name, my reputation to a company that I didn´t truly believe in.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: www.kavangoresources.com Twitter: @ben_turney @KavangoRes Email: [email protected] YouTube: www.youtube.com/channel/UCCsih6H-kRxDm9Zc8aMZ2Ag VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 200Building a Career You Love While Making a Positive Difference with Mark Cutifani

Our 200th podcast episode features Mark Cutifani, CEO of Anglo American, one of the world’s biggest mining companies. In April of next year, he will be stepping down after 9 years at the helm. We have the privilege of spending some time with Mark to understand more about his career, his thoughts, wisdom, and his perception of the future of the mining industry as we enter a new era. An episode not to be missed. KEY TAKEAWAYS The best way to get to the next job is to do the current job well. Think about your career and plan. Maximize what you get out of your current and future roles. Be true to yourself, while supporting your people and building trust. When making tough decisions do the analysis, use your head, but if it does not feel right in your heart, don´t do it. Don´t avoid making decisions. Studies show that good leaders make twice as many decisions. Monitor how your decisions are turning out and fix anything that is wrong as quickly as possible. People want to be part of a purposeful organisation. Defining a purpose for your organization is an important aspect of successful leadership. Provide your general managers with the support to do their job well. They are the ones that directly manage 90% of your people. Mining has the smallest environmental footprint in the world with the largest economic benefit. Most people do not realise that. Miners are making a positive difference to the communities they work in, and most are striving hard to do even better. You can learn a huge amount from other sectors. Many of the recent mining efficiencies have come from outside the mining industry. There are seventy-six minerals in a smartphone. People simply do not realize how crucial mining is. Using wind, solar, hydropower, AI, and other tech, Anglo American will be carbon neutral by 2040. Anglo American conceived, designed, and launched their 300-tonne hydrogen truck in less time than it took Tesla to put their prototype on the road. Ep 199Starting Gold and Exploring on an Orogenic Mesothermal System in Nicaragua with Akiba Leisman

In this episode, we chat to Akiba Leisman, CEO of Mako Mining Corp who is a publicly listed gold mining, development, and exploration company operating the high-grade San Albino gold mine in Nicaragua. Akiba is a chemical engineer by background and worked in investment banking and holds a few board roles. He talks to us more about Mako Mining and what exciting things they have been up to in their ramp-up and exploration. KEY TAKEAWAYS Makro Mining has an area of 200 square meters to explore. Mako Mining has now commercialized the highest-grade gold open pit in the world in San Albino, Nicaragua. They have been in commercial production since July and are planning to ramp up to 1000 tonnes a day, in about a year. They are also fully permitted to start mining the Las Conchitas area from late 2022. Initial explorations show high-grade gold and silver at Las Conchitas. They believe that they are sitting on an orogenic mesothermal system covering 200sqkms, which typically contains millions of ounces of gold. There are currently 4 rigs turning at site, with 2 more due to start turning in January. In the podcast, Akiba explains in detail where they are and what they are looking for. All of this has been achieved despite CoVid and several severe weather events. The budget was $31 million, and it came in at $32.5 million. Nicaragua is a good jurisdiction for mining. Gold is one of the country´s largest exports. There are challenges, which Akiba talks about in detail. Including explaining how they have overcome them. The quality of labor in Nicaragua is excellent, they work hard and are happy to learn new skills. BEST MOMENTS ‘We have now commercialized what is the highest-grade open pit in the world. ´ ‘Pretty universally, the government is supportive of mining, particularly gold mining.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://makominingcorp.com/Twitter: https://twitter.com/MakoMiningCorpTwitter: https://twitter.com/AkibaLeismanEmail: [email protected] VALUABLE RESOURCES mailto:[email protected]://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson-3a26a68/http://www.mining-international.orghttps://www.facebook.com/MiningInternational.orghttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UC69dGPS29lmakv-D7LWJg_Q?guided_help_flow=3 ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is the Founder and Director of Mining International Ltd, a leading global recruitment and headhunting consultancy based in the UK specialising in all areas of mining across the globe from first world to third world countries from Africa, Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Australia. Ep 198Mining Silver in Mexico and Germany with Brendan Cahill

In this episode, we chat to Brendan Cahill, President & CEO of Excellon Resources who is a TSX listed Canadian mining company that is in full production with their 100% owned Platosa Mine in Durango in Mexico. It has been Mexico’s highest-grade silver mine since production commenced in 2005 Brendan has a background in law with a proven track record within the mining industry and talks about the fortunes of Excellon Resources and their Silver City project in Saxony, Germany which has a long history that many know. KEY TAKEAWAYS Excellon Resources has two projects in Mexico. Platosa Mine in Durango and a milling operation. In 2019, they optioned a project (Silver City) in Saxony Germany, which is a big focus of their exploration. In 2020, they acquired Otis Gold that has two projects – Kilgore and Oakley, as a way of diversifying their portfolio. The Kilgore project is open-pit with a low strip recovery ratio, only 1.1 to 1. Kilgore is a growth project. The plan is to explore deeper and go underground there. Coming out of the bear market many gold companies were undervalued, which is why they bought. Historic miners in Saxony mostly only mined near the surface. There is huge potential, a little deeper. Germany is now a good jurisdiction for miners. The government wants reliable access to the raw metals the country´s industries need. Shipping metals over long distances is not environmentally sustainable and politics mean it is not necessarily a stable option. The Chinese are stopping bitcoin mining and buying gold mines everywhere. BEST MOMENTS" "Kilgore has about a million ounces of gold. $300 million NPV at $1,800". "Coming into 2020… diversification… multi precious metals was a very effective strategy". "We in the Western world are losing access to raw materials". "The Chinese are stopping Bitcoin mining and yet continue to try to buy gold mines globally". Mark gives us an update on Cerrado Gold and around their Minera Don Nicholas operating mine and an update on what’s been happening at their Monte do Carmo project. KEY TAKEAWAYS Monte do Carmo, in Brazil is one of the highest-grade open-pit deposits in Latin America. In just one year, despite CoVid, they have nearly doubled production at Mineiro Don Nicolas, in Argentina. They are looking at expanding in Argentina by using heat leaching. If they go underground as well, there is potential to eventually double production in Argentina. Cerrado Gold went public in February 2021. Cash flow is excellent. They have finished their restructuring and caught up from the CoVid delays. There are a lot of incentives available in Argentina because the government wants to bring in US dollars. BEST MOMENTS ‘We´re generating 30 to 35 million of free cash. ´ ‘It’s a big property with lots of potential, lots of growth.’ ‘The infrastructure is amazing.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Episode 109 - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/taking-mining-public-with-mark-brennan/id1440020656?i=1000501146601 Website: https://www.cerradogold.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/cerrado-gold/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/CerradoGold Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cerrado.gold/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Cerrado.Gold.Inc Email: [email protected] Mark Brennan LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-brennan-356a59157/ VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ Twitter: @MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MiningInternational.org YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is the Founder and Director of Mining International Ltd, a leading global recruitment and headhunting consultancy based in the UK specialising in all areas of mining across the globe from first world to third world countries from Africa, Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Australia. Ep 195Tapping Into the Rich Metal Resources of Cornwall Richard Williams, CEO of Cornish Metals

In this episode, we chat with Richard Williams, CEO of Cornish Metals who is an Associate Company of Osisko. They are building a portfolio of strategic metals assets in the United Kingdom and North America. Their near-term strategy is to focus on exploration of the near-surface high-grade copper and tin mineralization at the United Downs project in Cornwall, UK. Richard is a Professional Geologist who has over 30 years of experience in the mining and mineral exploration sector. Principally in southern Africa, and south and Central America. He talks about Cornish Metals. As well as the rich history of mining in Cornwall and what the area has to offer in the decades to come. KEY TAKEAWAYS The Cornish South Crofty asset they acquired already has planning permission and a new mine permit. It is the highest-grade tin project in the world that is not yet in production. Tin is essential to the tech markets, Internet of Things, and electrification. There is still a lot of high-quality tin, and other metals, available in Cornwall. The community around the South Crofty site is extremely supportive. They know it will generate wealth for the area. Old workings mean that 100% of the tailings can be put back underground. There is also copper, zinc, lithium, and silver in the area. Something that has been re-confirmed by recent drills. It is estimated that there will be around 33/34 pounds of tin for every tonne of rock. Extremely high grade. The process they plan to use to dewater the mine is specifically designed to improve the environment. Opportunities to generate green energy using the resources available on site are being investigated. The surface impact is anticipated to be minimal. South Crofty should be in production within 5 years. BEST MOMENTS ‘Today, about 50% of all tin consumed goes into solar electronics. ´ ‘The recorded average grades from those (old) mines was in excess of 7% copper.’ ‘A tonne of rock would be worth something in the order of $550 to $580 US.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Twitter: @CornishMetals LinkedIn: Cornish Metals Inc. They provide custom mining solutions, designs, engineers, and manufactures site-ready Paste Backfill, Shotcrete, and Grout plants with pumping systems for on-surface and underground mining which plays an important role in the mining process. Phil is the technical director and Tony is the Vice President and they tell us more about the company and the importance of backfill solutions within mine production. KEY TAKEAWAYS Simem engineers work collaboratively, across all systems and go into the field to install what they build. They work fast. For example, for the Polaris mine, they had a massive cement rockfill plant with heating built and on its way to the Canadian Arctic, within 12 weeks. Several other examples of their complex projects are explained, in detail, in the podcast. They have experience of working in every environment, including the most extreme conditions. There is a comprehensive explanation of what the different types of backfill are, in the podcast. CAF gives you better strength. Dried-out tailings can be used in Paste Backfill. The strengths are reproducible and known. Underground backfill plants present many challenges, which are discussed in the podcast. Paste Backfill is costly to set up, but for flagship, long-term mines they are usually the way to go. No job is too challenging for Simem Underground. BEST MOMENTS ‘We don’t look at just Canada or just North America, we are truly global. ´ ‘We do the full engineering design of the plants.’ ‘The biggest differentiator we have is experience…30 years of mine plant building.’ ‘No one is pigeonholed…. Ep 193Easy to Finance and Scale Eco-friendly Potash Production Interview with Mike Ferguson

In this episode, we chat to Mike Ferguson, President, and CEO of Gensource Potash who are a Canada-based fertilizer development company, which is focused on developing resource opportunities with a specific focus on potash development. Mike is a professional engineer with over 25 years of experience in potash and uranium and is leading the development of this greenfield property and tells us all about the company and their Tugaske project and the sustainable production methods used. KEY TAKEAWAYS Gensource Potash trades on the Toronto Venture Stock Exchange and the London AIM Market. Financing was very Europe-centric, so London is a good fit. Taking a modular approach enables them to start small and easily find finance, then ramp up as fast as the market allows. A single module of 250,000 tonnes production is a strong economic unit all by itself. These small modules can be run at 100% capacity from day one, which improves capital efficiencies. All product for the Saskatchewan facility is presold. A setup that virtually eliminates risk. Gensource is turning potash mining into something more akin to a manufacturing process. No salt tailings are created, which means no surface brine ponds. All of their power and heat are self-generated. They plan to become a true net-zero operation. Tugaske will be co-owned by Gensource and their partner Helm. The cyclical mining approach they use enables them to use 75% less freshwater per tonne of product. Working with Helm, Gensource is disrupting the market providing an alternative supply in a market where just five producer accounts for 75 to 80% of the supply. Gensource´s supply chain has been greatly simplified, which saves a lot of money. It also has an extremely low carbon footprint. A growing global population means demand for potash will continue to grow. Construction is due to start production, in 2024. BEST MOMENTS ‘We are dedicated 100% to potash development. ´ ‘Gensource is about doing things differently.’ ‘We simply have no waste; we have no tailings.’ ‘We self-generate all of our own power and heat.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://gensourcepotash.ca Twitter: https://twitter.com/gensourcepotash Email: [email protected] Call: 001 306 974 6414 VALUABLE RESOURCES mailto:[email protected] https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson-3a26a68/ http://www.mining-international.org https://twitter.com/MiningConsult https://www.facebook.com/MiningInternational.org https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC69dGPS29lmakv-D7LWJg_Q?guided_help_flow=3 ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is the Founder and Director of Mining International Ltd, a leading global recruitment and headhunting consultancy based in the UK specialising in all areas of mining across the globe from first world to third world countries from Africa, Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Australia. They have also commenced drilling at Mogollon, New Mexico Galen is a geologist by trade and has over 15 years of experience in discovery and capital markets. Apart from heading up Summa Silver, he also sits on a few different boards. In this episode, he talks about both projects, the progress they have made and gives us an update on the current silver market. KEY TAKEAWAYS Summa Silver is a new silver exploration company that focuses on the Southwestern US. They have two historic properties that have not been explored using modern technology. At the Tonopah, Nevada project they are getting grades above one thousand grammes per tonne on multiple targets. The best hole at Tonopah is 4408 grammes per tonne silver equivalent over 2.8 meters. They are about to start drilling at the New Mexico Mogollon project. Currently, between 60 and 70% of silver is used for industrial purposes. In the future, that percentage will rise sharply as demand from the electric car industry grows. Good silver assets are hard to find, so servicing that demand is going to be hard. Another reason prices are likely to rise. Despite doing a lot of drilling Summa Silver is still quite well-financed- The outlook for the silver market for 2022 is good. In the podcast, Galen explains why. Many junior silver miners are undervalued at the moment. BEST MOMENTS ‘Historically, in precious metal bull markets, silver outperforms gold. ´ ‘The demand for silver in a situation like that is gonna almost double from what it is today.’ ‘We are not trying to reinvent the wheel.’ EPISODE RESOURCES LinkedIn: https://ca.linkedin.com/in/galen-mcnamara-02a52911 Twitter: https://twitter.com/galenmcnamara?lang=en Summa Silver Twitter: https://twitter.com/SummaSilver?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor LinkedIn Summa Silver: https://ca.linkedin.com/company/summa-silver-corp VALUABLE RESOURCES mailto:[email protected] https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson-3a26a68/ http://www.mining-international.org https://twitter.com/MiningConsult https://www.facebook.com/MiningInternational.org https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC69dGPS29lmakv-D7LWJg_Q?guided_help_flow=3 ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is the Founder and Director of Mining International Ltd, a leading global recruitment and headhunting consultancy based in the UK specialising in all areas of mining across the globe from first world to third world countries from Africa, Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Australia. Ep 188Exploiting Gold and Copper Resources in Safe Jurisdictions with Martin French

In this episode, we chat with Martin French, Executive Chairman of Chesterfield Resources. It is a mineral exploration company operating in Canada and Cyprus, focused on copper and gold and listed on the London Stock Exchange. Martin has over 30 years of experience in capital markets, investment banking and mining and has worked all over the world in Asia, South America and Africa and tells us the story of Chesterfield Resources. You can get 10% off with the discount code DIGDEEP10 when registering at: https://minesandmoney.com/ So, listen to this podcast, get your tickets today and we will see you there... KEY TAKEAWAYS Chesterfield Resources has just finished drilling at their Cyprus resource. Polymetal International, the gold specialists, backed them in November 2020. In July, they purchased a big copper exploration project in Labrador, Canada and partnered with Altius Minerals to explore it. Most big mining companies want to get exposed to copper and many are doing so by buying into exploration companies. The Canadian site is a sedimentary basin. Geology which typically results in good yields. There are already around 250 copper shows on the surface, so it is clearly heavily mineralised. Yet, due to it being isolated very little drilling has taken place, to date. Their first meeting with the Inuit First Nations Grand Chief, Etienne Rich went well. The Canadian brokers have responded well to their offering. Having Dr Neil O´Brien on board is paying dividends. He is well known and respected in the industry. Bottlenecks at the assay labs are causing problems. In Cyprus, exploration of the Limni South dumpsite is yielding good results, so they are looking to put together a gold oxide project. They plan to roll out IR programmes in London, then Toronto. Followed by a secondary listing in 2022. BEST MOMENTS ‘We´ve now got two really good partners. So, for a small company, we´ve come a long way. ´ ‘It´s in a very very low-risk jurisdiction…. Also, Labrador is regarded as the best province in Canada for mining.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://www.chesterfieldresourcesplc.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/chesterfield-resources-inc. They are involved in the mining and mineral development of base metals with interests in North and South America. Kerem has a geology background and a wide range of career experiences and is here today to talk about Metallum Resources, the progress they are making in this great mining jurisdiction and talk more about Zinc as a metal. KEY TAKEAWAYS Metallum Resources is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchanges (MZN) Their flagship project is located near Thunder Bay, Ontario, which already has excellent road, rail, and port connections. They have about two million tonnes at 18% zinc, 1% copper, 34grams per tonne of silver and half a gramme per tonne of gold Their project has almost twice the world´s average percentage in copper richness terms and extremely rich zinc deposits. Using current prices, the EBITA numbers reach $80 million, per year. The team are experienced mine developers as well as explorers. Relationships with the main First Nations group and other communities are currently good. For zinc for the next 5 to 7 years, there will be a deficit. Plus, the demand for zinc-air batteries is growing rapidly. Potentially, creating an even bigger deficit. Metallum Resources are perfectly placed to take advantage of this demand gap. BEST MOMENTS ‘It's an exciting time for mining, especially for zinc and copper. ´ ‘We have one of the highest-grade deposits, in the world, for zinc.’ ‘Very profitable because of the low CAPEX numbers and very very high-grade ore.’ ‘I think this is the right project, with the right commodities, at the right time.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Twitter: @metallumzinc LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/metallum-tsxv-mzn Facebook: @metallumzinc Instagram: https://instagram.com/metallumzinc?utm_medium=copy_link Website: https://www.metallumzinc.com/ VALUABLE RESOURCES mailto:[email protected] https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson-3a26a68/ http://www.mining-international.org https://twitter.com/MiningConsult https://www.facebook.com/MiningInternational.org https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC69dGPS29lmakv-D7LWJg_Q?guided_help_flow=3 ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is the Founder and Director of Mining International Ltd, a leading global recruitment and headhunting consultancy based in the UK specialising in all areas of mining across the globe from first world to third world countries from Africa, Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Australia. Ep 186Fast Progress for Inflection Resources and Headwater Gold with Alistair Waddell

In this episode, we chat to Alistair Waddell, President & CEO at Inflection Resources & Chairman at Headwater Gold. Both are junior explorers working across Australia and the US focusing on high-grade precious metals and copper assets. Alistair is an exploration geologist with a background working in Australia, South America, and North America. He is here today to talk about the exciting projects he is involved in and his experience travelling the world as a geologist. KEY TAKEAWAYS Get out there and create your opportunities by knocking on doors. Get exposure to different deposit types, people, and jurisdictions. Young geologists need a bit of drive and perseverance and must not be afraid to take a leap of faith to gain experience. Working for junior miners as well as major mining companies really broadens your understanding. Inflection Resources has two main projects. Both mining gold and copper. The geologist Dr Douglas Haines was involved in putting together the exploration proposal for both projects. Many of the targets were on open ground, close to existing paved highways. They are currently working their way through thirty-five truly greenfield drilling targets in their NSW project. Drilling is also about to commence in their Croydon goldfields. An area that has produced spectacularly high grade finds in the past. Brownfield sites usually come with more risk than people realise. There is a trade-off. Alistair explains why he prefers to drill greenfield sites. Headwater Gold is focused on high-grade epithermal veins in the Great Basin area of Nevada. There are twelve projects to explore in Nevada. BEST MOMENTS ‘Get out and travel before life gets more complicated with mortgages, families and whatnot. ´ ‘I recognise the self-driving geologists. They have that little bit of extra entrepreneurial attitude.’ ’I’m certainly very comfortable at taking a swing on greenfield targets that have the potential to deliver a large tier one.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://inflectionresources.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/waddellalistair/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/inflectionaucu Email: [email protected] Headway Gold: https://headwatergold.com/boardofdirectors/ VALUABLE RESOURCES mailto:[email protected] https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson-3a26a68/ http://www.mining-international.org https://twitter.com/MiningConsult https://www.facebook.com/MiningInternational.org https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC69dGPS29lmakv-D7LWJg_Q?guided_help_flow=3 ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is the Founder and Director of Mining International Ltd, a leading global recruitment and headhunting consultancy based in the UK specialising in all areas of mining across the globe from first world to third world countries from Africa, Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Australia.
