Ep 275Bonanza Grade Discoveries of Gold, Silver, and Other Metals in Peru With Peter Dembicki

In this episode, we chat with Peter Dembicki, President and CEO of Tier One Silver which is an exploration company that was spun out from Auryn Resources in 2020. The Company is focused on creating significant value for shareholders through the discovery of world-class silver, gold, and base metal deposits in Peru.Peter has a background in wealth management and gives us an update on the companies Curibaya and Hurricane Projects and the significant discoveries they have made and how his first 18 months as the CEO have been.KEY TAKEAWAYS The grades they have been finding are bonanza grades far better than anyone in the industry had seen focused in one area before. Their first drilling program had an unprecedented success rate of 30%. They got excellent results, including 2.5 grams of gold and over 1000 grams per tonne of silver. The Hurricane Silver project is progressing well and has copper, cobalt, platinum and surprisingly nickel too. Tier One Silver has the only complete system in Southern Peru, which means immense potential for multiple metals. They have got their exploration licences and have not experienced any operational delays due to the jurisdiction that they are working in. The civil unrest has not negatively affected them. Peru wants mining and local communities understand the benefits too. Christian Rios, who has a well-deserved reputation for making discoveries, is their new exploration SVP. Unlike others, they are successfully raising capital. BEST MOMENTS ‘There is a huge gap between investor and geologist knowledge. I was asked to bridge that gap. ´ ‘Nobody in the industry had seen grades like this before.’ ‘People want to work, they don't want to stop mining in Peru. They know that it is a big part of their GDP.’ EPISODE RESOURCESWebsite: https://www.tieronesilver.com/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgW9vCEIjzmUsziJAbsGdawTwitter: @TierOneSilverLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/tier-one-silverPrevious Dig Deep Podcast with Peter Dembicki - https://omny.fm/shows/dig-deep-the-mining-podcast/mining-world-class-silver-gold-and-base-metals-inVALUABLE RESOURCESmailto:[email protected]://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson-3a26a68/http://www.mining-international.orghttps://twitter.com/MiningConsulthttps://www.facebook.com/MiningInternational.orghttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UC69dGPS29lmakv-D7LWJg_Q?guided_help_flow=3ABOUT THE HOSTRob Tyson is the Founder and Director of Mining International Ltd, a leading global recruitment and headhunting consultancy based in the UK specialising in all areas of mining across the globe from first world to third world countries from Africa, Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Australia. Ep 273Focused Exploration of Never Before Explored Epithermal Veins Yielding Fast Results With Caleb Stroup

In this episode, we chat with Caleb Stroup, who is the President and CEO at Headwater Gold, a junior miner that is exploring for High-Grade Precious Metals in Nevada and Idaho in the US.Caleb is a geologist with a background working in gold and base metal exploration. He gives us an overview of their recent deal with Newcrest and what the future holds for Headwater Gold. KEY TAKEAWAYS Headwater Gold was set up to explore high-grade epithermal veins in the Western US. Until now, exploration focused on finding close-to-surface deposits, which means there is enormous potential for large, but deeper finds. Focusing on generating new projects, from scratch, avoids the sometimes-negative baggage that comes with developing established claims. High grades in a good jurisdiction is a recipe for high profits. They have a big pool of high-quality projects that are ready to be developed. Their new partnership with Newcrest will enable them to develop multiple projects rapidly. This year, they have 3 new drill sites planned along with exploration of a new stake. BEST MOMENTS‘Through generative work and claim staking, the properties are 100% owned and royalty-free. ´‘Our philosophy is to have a very specific technical criterion…. but, to drill early and see if it is there right away.’EPISODE RESOURCESWebsite: https://headwatergold.com/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/headwater-gold-inc/Twitter: https://twitter.com/headwatergoldFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/Headwater-Gold-105759361618271Corporate Presentation: https://headwatergold.com/presentations/VALUABLE RESOURCESmailto:[email protected]://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson-3a26a68/http://www.mining-international.orghttps://twitter.com/MiningConsulthttps://www.facebook.com/MiningInternational.orghttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UC69dGPS29lmakv-D7LWJg_Q?guided_help_flow=3ABOUT THE HOSTRob Tyson is the Founder and Director of Mining International Ltd, a leading global recruitment and headhunting consultancy based in the UK specialising in all areas of mining across the globe from first world to third world countries from Africa, Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Australia. Ep 272How Taking a Different Approach and Looking at Things With Fresh Eyes Pays Dividends With Diane Garrett

In this episode, we chat with Diane Garrett, CEO of Hycroft Mining which is a precious metals development company that owns the Hycroft Mine. The 2nd largest gold mine in the US, located in the prolific mining region of Northern Nevada. Diane has a background in minerals economics. She is an engineer with 20 years of senior executive management experience in the mining industry. Someone who has an exceptional track record for developing projects and building companies. During this podcast, Diane provides us with an update on Hycroft Mining and what they are planning to do next. KEY TAKEAWAYS Diane´s team is taking a mining operation that has been successful since the 1980s to the next level, by transitioning from near surface oxide heat bleaching to a large-scale sulphide milling operation. Hycroft has over 20 million ounces of gold equivalent and has a very large silver deposit. During the transition, they are not actively mining, but are still producing gold and silver off of the leach pads. When Hycroft Mining takes over a project, they do not simply continue with the same approach. Instead, they take a step back and look at things with fresh eyes and use the most up-to-date technology to re-explore the asset. The former owners never allowed their geologists to explore fully. Diane´s team drilled all 3 of the feeder systems and have had significant hits. Tapping into the power of social media has attracted a lot of new investors. Women still tend not to think about working in mining. Diane´s advice is for women to just try it. BEST MOMENTS ‘Hycroft has a very long successful history of open pit heap leach mining, dating back to the 1980s. ´ ‘We come in with a fresh pair of eyes… you have to remember that technology does change, our thinking changes.’ ‘I'm not a woman in mining, I'm not a woman CEO, I'm just a CEO… it never occurs to me that I am the only one…I am just there to do my job.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Diane’s personal Twitter account: @DianeG_CEO Other social media pages: Hycroft Twitter: @HycroftMining Hycroft website: www.hycroftmining.com Hycroft YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmyva8FkEqdn7bizFjMG8tw Diane’s LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/diane-garrett-hycroft/ Hycroft LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/hycroftmining/ VALUABLE RESOURCES mailto:[email protected] https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson-3a26a68/ http://www.mining-international.org https://twitter.com/MiningConsult https://www.facebook.com/MiningInternational.org https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC69dGPS29lmakv-D7LWJg_Q?guided_help_flow=3 ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is the Founder and Director of Mining International Ltd, a leading global recruitment and headhunting consultancy based in the UK specialising in all areas of mining across the globe from first world to third world countries from Africa, Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Australia. Ep 271Solving Mining Industry Supply Chain Challenges Using Digital Technology With Arnoud Starr Busmann

In this episode, we spoke to Arnoud Star Busmann who is the CEO of Minehub Technologies. A platform company dedicated to realising the digital transformation of the global mining & metals supply chains. Arnoud has a background in Maths & Science and has over 20 years of experience in strategy execution, enterprise transformation and “blue chip” start-ups. He is one of the pioneers in the intersection of commodities, finance and blockchain technology. Arnoud tells us more about Minehub and how they are working with companies in the mining industry to solve their supply chain challenges in the digital world. KEY TAKEAWAYS Minehub has created a unique way of managing information exchange in supply chains. The efficiencies found in the supply chain are huge, so big that, in some cases, they are cancelling out inflationary rises. Improvements have been made in supply chain resilience, security, ESG compliance, cash flow, compliance with local regulations and access to capital. When supplies are moved, they go through dozens of companies and agents, all of whom spend time exchanging information. Sometimes the information is not available on time, is miskeyed or is lost. Minehub stops all that. They have also streamlined the assay exchange process. The blockchain Minehub uses is quite different from the one used by cryptocurrencies. The blockchain creates an immutable audit trail. BEST MOMENTS ‘We signed BHP a couple of months ago as a launching customer. ´ ‘We put all that information in one place, one database, so everybody´s on the same page, all of the time, in real-time.’ ‘I believe we will be an enabler for cleaning up supply chains, because of the level of transparency.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: www.minehub.com Information for investors: www.minehub.com/investors LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/minehubtech/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/minehub Email: [email protected] VALUABLE RESOURCES mailto:[email protected] https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson-3a26a68/ http://www.mining-international.org https://twitter.com/MiningConsult https://www.facebook.com/MiningInternational.org https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC69dGPS29lmakv-D7LWJg_Q?guided_help_flow=3 ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is the Founder and Director of Mining International Ltd, a leading global recruitment and headhunting consultancy based in the UK specialising in all areas of mining across the globe from first world to third world countries from Africa, Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Australia. Ep 270Are We On The Cusp of a Metals Bull Market? With Ivan Bebek

In this episode, we have a returning guest who appeared in Dec 2019 (Episode 57). Ivan Bebek is an entrepreneur in the private and public Mining / Exploration sector with over 20 years of experience with a strong ability to finance, monetize and advance exploration assets into the development stage. He is on a number of boards. Including Torq Resources and more recently co-founded Copernico Metals, also splitting Auryn Resources into three companies Fury Gold Mines, Coppernico and Tier One Silver. He is here to give us an update on these companies. Plus, a general talk on the junior space and financial markets. KEY TAKEAWAYS Currently, prices and sentiment are flat or negative, which is not uncommon when a bear market transitions into a bull one. When things are down that is when the best opportunities exist. Recent discoveries are boosting the price of Torq Resources stocks. Gold price increases tend to come in waves. With the upcoming election in the US, more money is likely to be printed, which should trigger a change in the markets. Ivan thinks that most junior and mining equity companies are shorted. Small companies explore and the big guys mine it. Tier One Silver is a robust silver find with one to 300 kilos of silver in 80 samples. Fury Gold has over a million ounces in Quebec and another half a million in Northern Canada. They are following up on a silver find in Peru and are also expecting to find copper there. Coppernico is likely to be listed between this September and January 2023. The current market conditions are similar to the way they were in 2009 before things took off. BEST MOMENTS ‘I personally think that we´re in the transition phase from bear to bull market for junior and mining equities. ´ ‘Watch the dollar, watch fiscal monetary policy and how things are evolving.’ ‘For gold August is a great buying month, September is a good selling month... February is one of the best performing months’ EPISODE RESOURCES Twitter: @ivanbebek71 on Twitter Email: [email protected] LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ivan-bebek-73038763/ Previous Dig Deep Mining Podcast episode with Ivan Bebek - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/a-conversation-with-ivan-bebek-of-auryn-resources/id1440020656?i=1000460774533 VALUABLE RESOURCES mailto:[email protected] https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson-3a26a68/ http://www.mining-international.org https://twitter.com/MiningConsult https://www.facebook.com/MiningInternational.org https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC69dGPS29lmakv-D7LWJg_Q?guided_help_flow=3 ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is the Founder and Director of Mining International Ltd, a leading global recruitment and headhunting consultancy based in the UK specialising in all areas of mining across the globe from first world to third world countries from Africa, Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Australia. Ep 269Developing a Deep Metal Mine in Bosnia With Paul Cronin

In this episode, we chat to Paul Cronin, MD, and CEO of Adriatic Metals, an ASX and LSE-listed precious and base metals explorer and developer that owns the world-class Vares silver project in Bosnia and the Raska zinc deposit in Serbia. Paul's background is in corporate finance, investment banking, funds management, and commodity trading and is a co-founder of Adriatic Metals. He describes their journey in developing this world-class polymetallic underground mine in Eastern Europe and what this is going to bring to the region. KEY TAKEAWAYS Bosnia has a well-developed coal mining industry. But their regulations are a little outdated compared to other jurisdictions. About two-thirds of their staff live locally, which is good for their standing in the community. Bosnia is rich in natural resources. The country has an abundance of cheap power and a fairly young diaspora that is starting to return to Bosnia, bringing all of their skills and experience with them. Inflation is having an impact. For example, the cost of diesel has proved to be a big issue. But, in Bosnia, the cost of power has not soared as it has in other jurisdictions. Bosnia is a vibrant, extremely beautiful, culturally rich, and welcoming place. People are extremely helpful, although some elements of bureaucracy move slowly. The expectation is that they will hit the ore body on their underground mine by October 2022. Production is scheduled to commence in Q2. BEST MOMENTS ‘If we look at the way the two exchanges have behaved, we are still getting more liquidity on the ASX. ´ ‘We are a company that delivers what it says it’s going to deliver. Largely on budget and on time.’ ‘The prime minister was quoted in the Financial Times last year speaking very positively about the company and the industry.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://www.adriaticmetals.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/adriatic-metals-limited/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/AdriaticMetals Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/adriaticmetalsplc/ VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 268The Current State of Financing For The Mid-Tier Miners With Scott Levy

In this episode, we chat to Scott Levy, the CEO of Bedford Row Capital who is a non-bank originator that exists to serve a diverse range of firms who are unable to access the services of banks and want to raise finance in the debt capital markets. Scott has a background in financial services which includes asset-backed securities, securitisation, debt capital markets, structuring, Islamic finance, and asset management. We talk about current financing for mining companies and in particular, the royalty and streaming model that is becoming increasingly popular in the mining industry. KEY TAKEAWAYS Bedford Row Capital´s primary function is to create access to finance using alternative sources. Over the last 15 years, vanilla investment banking has gone increasingly vanilla. A reluctance to invest in things that are not seen as totally ESG or green is making it increasingly difficult to secure capital for industries that need it. Since 2016, Bedford Row Capital has completed over 150 transactions, with most of the firms they arranged finance for being listed. It is the mid-tier transactions that need support. Streaming and royalty financing is used to fill the gap until you are ready for investors. For investors this form of finance is attractive, Scott explains why, in the podcast. It is in everyone's interest to continue production, which keeps the cash flowing. Not enough people yet understand the royalty and streaming model. Miners who want to tap into this form of finance must be sensitive to the sensibilities of new investors. BEST MOMENTS ‘We´re in very interesting times, at the moment. ´ ‘Merchant banking, at least in the UK, is virtually dead.’ ‘Royalty financing is a way to attract new investors into the sector.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://bedfordrowcapital.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/bedford-row-capital-advisers/ Website: https://www.raptorcapitalstreaming.com/ VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. In this episode, we have a returning guest who appeared back in March this year (Episode 217). Marc Bishop Lafleche is the CEO of Anglo Pacific Group who is a global natural resources royalty and streaming company listed on both the London and Toronto Stock Exchanges. They are giving investors exposure to commodities such as cobalt, copper, nickel, vanadium, and uranium. Marc has a banking and international finance background and has been with Anglo Pacific for the past 8 years. He moved into the CEO role, early this year. Marc gives us an update on the company and their latest acquisition of a $185m copper and nickel royalty portfolio from South32. KEY TAKEAWAYS Anglo Pacific Group is dual listed in London and Toronto. They are focused on future-facing commodities – the metals needed to achieve a more sustainable world. Their strong financial performance has enabled them to repay debts and de-risk their balance sheet. The royalty model they follow has insulated them from many of the current economic issues. Anglo Pacific has just completed a copper and nickel royalties acquisition from South32, which now holds a 16.9% stake in Anglo Pacific Group. They have reported their fourth consecutive quarterly record portfolio contribution. The current market and economic conditions suit the way the Anglo Pacific Group operates. In this episode, we have a returning guest who appeared back in May 2021 (Episode 138). Tony Reda is the founder, President, and CEO of Tectonic Metals. A mineral exploration company, which is focused on the acquisition, exploration, discovery, and development of mineral resources from district-scale projects in politically stable jurisdictions that have the potential to host world-class orebodies in Canada and the US Tony has been in mining for 20+ years and has been involved in several developments and acquisitions in the past. He gives us an update on Tectonic since we last spoke and talks about junior exploration and what Alaska has to offer as a mining jurisdiction. KEY TAKEAWAYS In the last 15 months, Tectonic Metals has acquired a new project which has 50 historical drills that showed extremely good grades. The mineral belt they are working on has enormous potential. The details are shared in the episode. They contact the native corporation in Alaska early and ask if they want to work collaboratively on mining projects. Alaska is vastly untapped. There is a lot of potential for tier one projects. The weather and lack of daylight in the winter are challenging. But this can, and is, being overcome. Now, is a good time to consider investing in mining. Tony explains why he thinks that is the case. We are likely to see more global companies setting up their own exploration and mining companies as Elon Musk has. BEST MOMENTS ‘We work directly with native corporations in Alaska on native-owned land. We engage early as part of the acquisition process. ´ ‘Alaska is an untapped jurisdiction for mining.’ ‘The fundamentals behind the mineral space, in my opinion, are quite strong.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://www.tectonicmetals.com/contact/ LinkedIn Tectonic Metals: https://www.linkedin.com/company/18826447/admin/ LinkedIn Tony Reda: https://www.linkedin.com/in/tony-reda-319b9211/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TectonicMetals/ Email: [email protected] Previous Tony Reda episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Whajviz1VS0 VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 265Zinc Mining in Canada with Ritch Wigham

In this episode, we chat to Ritch Wigham, CEO and Director of Slave Lake Zinc. A mineral exploration company focused on the development of critical and precious minerals at its O'Connor Lake property located in the South Slave regions, in the Northwest Territories of Canada. Ritch has a finance background. He is leading this junior miner into the future. Today, he talks to us about the history and what the company is looking to do to move their project forward with this critical mineral. KEY TAKEAWAYS O´Connor Lake had a shaft built in 1952. The operation was shuttered when the price of zinc dropped. Decades ago, 25 showings of zinc and lead were found, but the project was shelved and forgotten. Recent airborne geophysics confirmed historic analysis and shows the area has rich deposits. Slave Lake Zinc has a collaboration agreement in place with the indigenous people of the area. Ep 264Achieving an 80% Success Rate Exploring for Gold in British Columbia with Robert Boyd

In this episode, we chat with Robert Boyd, CEO, and Director of Endurance Gold Corporation. A project generator exploration company, exploring gold and rare earth projects in British Columbia, Alaska, and the Yukon. Robert is a mining executive with a background in geology with a career spanning over 40 years. In addition, he holds many other board positions. Including being a board director for PDAC, the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, and the Canadian Hall Of Fame. We talk about Endurance Gold Corp, the history of the Gold Bridge Bralorne Gold district, and the outlook for Canadian junior mining companies. KEY TAKEAWAYS Endurance is a prospect generator company. They are currently focusing on developing their Reliance Project in British Columbia. The success of that project has moved them into the 55 or 60 million Canadian dollars valuation category. They have already picked up gold intersections that are about 435 meters of strike, within the overall gold system. Around 80% of their drill intersections have found gold. Fifteen to twenty percent of those are exceptional gold intersections. Hydropower is available locally and the mine is located very near the road. Canada is a good place for junior miners to raise venture capital. The green economy proving to be very good for mining. BEST MOMENTS ‘Until 2020, it had never had a gold soil survey completed on it. ´ ‘We expect to be able to drill right through the fall; this is a very road-accessible property.’ ‘Mineral exploration is the R&D of mining.’ EPISODE RESOURCES LinkedIn Robert Boyd: https://ca.linkedin.com/in/robert-t-boyd-72012413 Website: https://endurancegold.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/endurance-gold/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/EnduranceGold YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-UG7-pzSVK_JLPliid-a-Q VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 263Two New Assets Acquired And Cash Flow Vastly Improved in Zimbabwe With Mark Learmonth

In this episode, we chat to Mark Learmonth, CEO, and Director of Caledonia Mining who is a profitable cash-generative gold producer with a strong growth profile, with their primary asset, the Blanket Mine in Zimbabwe. Mark has a finance and investment background. He joined the company back in 2008 and talks about his journey with Caledonia Mining, what they have been upto including their central shaft project and their Bilboes project, and why Zimbabwe is a great place to invest in mining. KEY TAKEAWAYS Caledonia Mining had to grow slowly. Initially, it only had access to the cash they made; there were virtually no 3rd party investors. Drilling the central shaft has transformed the company’s profitability. The workforce in Zimbabwe is very high quality, so there is no need to hire expensive expat staff. They are now producing around 80,000 ounces per year. Currently, they are diversifying and becoming a multi-asset producer. Focusing on Zimbabwe is the plan. They know the jurisdiction well, the workforce is good and the geology is very sound. The fact that Zimbabwe has very high inflation barely impacts the business. Why is explained, in the podcast. Caledonia Mining are building a 12 megawatt solar project, which will save around $3 million per annum. Last year, Caledonia acquired a million ounce resource for $4 million. A few weeks ago, they acquired a nearly 2.5 million ounce asset. With grades of about 2.25 grams per tonne. With the extra cash flow, growth will be faster from now on. BEST MOMENTS ‘I learned the importance of really rigorous cash flow management and paying close attention to investment programs. ´ ‘There’s a lot of gold in Zimbabwe, the country has never been properly explored.’ ‘The mine has been operating for nearly 100 years. Over that time a sophisticated infrastructure had developed, which we have enhanced.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://www.caledoniamining.com/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/caledoniamining Email: [email protected] VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 262Focusing on Delivering Cashflow in Namibia, Kenya and South Africa with Dennis Edmonds

In this episode, we chat with Dennis Edmond, CEO of Kazera Global Investments. An investment Company focused on developing early-stage assets in Africa towards meaningful cash flow and resource realisation. We talk about the various projects they are involved in, lithium, minerals sands and their recent acquisition of a rare earths project in Kenya and what the exciting future holds for them. KEY TAKEAWAYS We have built value without requiring investors' money to keep the company going. The lithium deal they are negotiating for their tantalum Namibia project will transform the company. Lithium is ripe for commercial exploitation. They are currently upgrading the processing plant in Namibia to increase tantalum production and start to separate lithium too. This will turn the Namibian project into a cashflow positive one. Recently, they introduced a pan plant to their diamond operation. Producing a positive cash flow. For their rare earths project, non-scientific valuations indicate the deposit could be worth around $3.3 billion US. BEST MOMENTS ‘I´m trying to build assets into a position where they are either generating cash or saleable. ´ ‘it’s a considerably undervalued company at the moment.’ ‘We now have a team that is very focused on opportunities.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://kazeraglobal.com/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/kazeraplc VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 261Mining Gold in Sweden, Finland And Australia With Ivan Fairhall

In this episode, we chat with Ivan Fairhall, Director and CEO of Mawson Gold, a TSX-listed gold exploration company in two safe, Tier 1 mining-friendly jurisdictions: Finland and Sweden. Ivan is a chartered engineer and mine finance professional with over 15 years of mining industry experience and talks about Mawson Gold and their projects in Finland and Sweden plus their Southern Cross project in Victoria, Australia. Ivan also gives his insights into how junior (pre-development) mining companies operate in quite a nuanced world where projects, strategy and market timing need to work in harmony. KEY TAKEAWAYS Mawson Gold is an exploration and development company. Their main project is the Rajapalot gold-cobalt project which covers 17,989 hectares of exploration permits in Finland. The field it sits in is a multi-million ounces greenfield discovery Their other project in Sweden is in the initial stages of exploration. They also own a large stake in Southern Cross Gold, in Australia. There are many similarities between mining in Sweden and Finland. They are very trustworthy and good to work with. Mining is not all about the technical merits of a project. Having a balanced team is key. You need to be sure you can raise more money before spending all of what you have on drilling holes. Mawson Gold owns 60% of the very exciting Southern Cross, Australia project. BEST MOMENTS ‘Junior mining is not black and white. ´ ‘Nothing goes according to plan ever in mining. So what matters is how you respond to change.’ ‘Our stake in Southern Cross is effectively worth more than Mawson Gold.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://mawsongold.com/ LinkedIn: https://ca.linkedin.com/company/mawson-gold-ltd Twitter: https://twitter.com/MawsonGold Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MawsonGold/ Email: [email protected] VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 258How to Uncover the True Value of an Ore Deposit With Craig Hutton

In this episode, we chat with Craig Hutton, who is the CEO and President of Iron Bull Mining. A junior mining company that is on a mission to open up the next big African copper basin in Namibia. Craig is an economic geologist with over 25 years of experience. He is going to talk about a book he wrote titled, “Mining Economics Explained” which is aimed at boards, executives, managers, and technical mining professionals. It unpacks the economic optimisation of a mine so that mining teams can maintain capital investment discipline against consistent criteria. KEY TAKEAWAYS Harmony Gold Mining embedded Craig’s approach to mine analysis into their thinking and in just 7 years became the world’s fifth largest gold mining company. Miners really need to understand economics to succeed over the long term. During the last commodity boom, it was noted costs rose as volumes increased. The opposite of what the industry expected. Craig´s algorithm determines what an ore body can sustain. How much production levels can rise before costs begin to escalate. Craig´s algorithm welds ore body signatures with economics. Many investors do not fully appreciate that mining is a long-term game. In the next 26 years, demand for copper will be higher than what humankind has consumed up until this point. Unpacking the cost curves, in advance, is key. There is a difference between viability and feasibility. A distinction that few in the mining industry fully understand. 3D models and Craig’s spreadsheet-based algorithm work well together. BEST MOMENTS ‘There’s a point at which actually costs begin to rise, you get to a point of diseconomies of scale. ´ ‘We are going into a new super cycle and the danger is that we repeat what we did in the last super cycle.’ ‘Every single orebody has a different financial signature.’ EPISODE RESOURCES LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/craig-h-3755a612/ Email: [email protected] VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. We also chat about why people in West Africa understand mining whereas people in Western countries do not. KEY TAKEAWAYS Since its launch, Mako Gold has made three gold discoveries. The Napié Project and the Korhogo Project, in Cote d'Ivoire and a third one which they sold last year. The Napié Project is their focus. They recently announced their main resources of 868,000 ounces at 1.2 grams per tonne. Within a year or less production will grow to 1.5 million ounces. Currently, they are drilling the Korhogo Project. West Africa has changed dramatically since the nineties. It is now relatively easy to hire experienced people from the local population. West Africans get mining in a way that most people in Western countries don't. They appreciate that we need mining. The outlook for mining in West Africa is good. The governments there are very pro-mining. In West Africa, you can put a mine into production far quicker than you can in most other jurisdictions. Ep 255Building Scotland's First Gold Mine With Phil Day

In this episode, we chat to Phil Day, CEO of Scotgold, a junior mining company that is Scotland’s first gold producer. They are growing their company with further exploration activities in and around the Scottish Highlands. Phil is a highly experienced senior mining executive with a career spanning over 25 years. He has a background in metallurgy and chemistry and has many senior appointments in his career in Africa and the US before taking the helm at Scotgold and talks to us about Scotland’s first gold mine and what it means to the area and the Scottish people. KEY TAKEAWAYS The geology of the Cononish Mine, in Scotland, is the best Phil has seen throughout his career. Lead was first mined in Cononish in the 1700s. The quartz vein was found in the 1980s, then gold. Gold production started in 2020. Gold is being found in places they were not expecting, in the mine. They are operating in a National Park. Phil explains how they are handling this. In particular what they are doing with the tailings. They are predicting an EBIT Da of about 21 to 24 million. The plan is to take the company into the million-tonne area, by running an exploration programme. They produce a concentrate, as well as gravity gold. So, they will be able to make Scottish gold coins, bars and jewellery. BEST MOMENTS ‘I was incredibly impressed with the geology, it’s the highest-grade gold mine I have ever seen in my working career. ´ ‘The enthusiasm here is contagious.’ ‘We are on the cusp of having a gold rush in Scotland.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://www.scotgoldresources.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/scotgold-resources/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/scotgoldresltd Email: [email protected] VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 254New Technology That Shaves Millions Off The Cost of Mine Investigations With Jaco Van Dalen

In this episode, we chat with Jaco Van Dalen, an experienced underground mine planner and surveyor who is currently working with Harmony Gold, in South Africa. As an avid listener of this podcast, he reached out to us as he wanted to talk about how advances in technology like virtual reality can help capture data from incidents that have occurred in mining. Data can be used to help to reduce the number of incidents or tragic events that occur, in the future. We must take responsibility for improving our understanding of unwanted events so that we can effectively mitigate the re-occurrence. Jaco hopes to continue his research after completing his Masters by utilising data from incidents. Using machine learning applications to predict incidents, which are likely to occur in the future. KEY TAKEAWAYS Jaco started his mining career as a labourer and is part of a mine rescue team. For mining incident investigators gathering the data to conduct a proper investigation is extremely challenging. Good quality safety investigations automatically lead to safer mines. Investigations can be safely conducted in a day using new technology. Instead of the standard 3 to 5 days. Faster investigations can translate into millions of dollars saved, per incident. VR enables specialists from across the world to take part in investigations, anywhere. Potentially, you will be able to scan an existing workspace and machine learning will be able to recognise similarities and highlight potential risks. Digital twins are an excellent tool for mine planning as well as incident investigation. BEST MOMENTS ‘I realised that there are better and smarter ways that we can conduct these investigations to get a better insight into what we see at the scene of an incident. ´ ‘There is a negative correlation between the quality of investigations and the safety performances of an operation.’ ‘After 3D scanners, virtual reality scanners are definitely coming… and we will gain extra information from that.’ EPISODE RESOURCES LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/jaco-van-dalen-7490288b Email: [email protected] VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 253Mining Gold And Copper in The Pilbara Area With Alastair Clayton

In this episode, we chat with Alastair Clayton, Executive Director at Artemis Resources, a gold and copper-focused resources company. They have major assets in the Pilbara area, at Paterson Central and Carlow Castle. Alastair has a considerable amount of experience with raising capital for ASX and AIM-listed companies as well as extensive experience in evaluating and financing large-scale mining projects. He tells the story behind Artemis Resources and what they are looking to achieve in developing their gold assets in the Pilbara area of Western Australia. KEY TAKEAWAYS When Alastair and his colleagues picked up Artemis it was quite undervalued. Artemis had too many projects running, so they stripped the portfolio back from 10 to 2 projects. Rationalising the portfolio saved money and generated a lot of cash. They are focusing on the Carlow Castle copper/gold project and their Paterson Central project. Artemis still has an eye on developing new projects, at a later date. In the past, Pilbara was only about iron ore and liquified gas. Now, high-grade gold has been discovered there. They largely have heritage approval across their projects. For copper the supply side is shocking. So, demand for Artemis copper is sure to be high. All the access infrastructure is already in place. BEST MOMENTS ‘Who would have thought it a gold-copper province in the Pilbara. ´ ‘When would you ever get a chance to drill next to a virgin 20-million-ounce gold discovery in Western Australia? Now, you can.’ ‘We own 100% of our project. We are the only Junior in the area to retain 100% of their land.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://artemisresources.com.au/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/ArtemisResources VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 252Playing a Role in Diversifying And Strengthening The Potash Supply Chain With Mike Ferguson

In this episode we have a returning guest who appeared back in Dec 2021 (episode 193), Mike Ferguson who is the President and CEO of Gensource Potash who are a Canada-based fertiliser development company, which is focused on developing resource opportunities with a specific focus on potash development. Mike is a professional engineer with over 25 years experience in potash and uranium. He is leading the development of this green-field property. Mike gives us an update on their Tugaske Project and on the potash industry as a whole. He also covers the issue of the 40% reduction in supply which is a consequence of the Russian/Ukraine war. KEY TAKEAWAYS GenSource is growing to 3 million tonnes per year of potash production. Doing so in a modular and scalable way. Their approach can bring a new site into production in 2 years as opposed to the typical 8 to 10 years. Their production method consumes 75% less water per ton compared to conventional solution mining. They leave no salt tailings. This is good for ESG and makes licensing far easier. There is a genuine shortage of potash. 40% of the world’s supply is under a cloud right now. Higher construction costs are making scaling more difficult. BEST MOMENTS ‘The methods we are using have been proven in different parts of the world. ´ ‘There is a genuine structural supply-side problem, in the (potash) industry.’ ‘We started this with the idea of using a form of solution mining that allows us to avoid salt tailings altogether.’ EPISODE RESOURCES LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/gensource-potash/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/GensourcePotash?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/GensourcePotash/ Previous Mike Ferguson episode / https://omny.fm/shows/dig-deep-the-mining-podcast/easy-to-finance-and-scale-eco-friendly-potash-prod VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 251Don´t Be Afraid to Get a Lawyer Onboard at an Early Stage with Tim Foden

In this episode, we chat with Tim Foden who is a partner at Boies Schiller Flexner, the global disputes law firm who are internationally recognized and known for its creative, aggressive, and efficient pursuit of success for its clients. Tim is a dual-qualified English-US lawyer and specialises in international arbitration in the mining sector. He has acted for both the world’s largest mining companies and a host of junior mining companies. Tim talks about disputes that happen within the industry and provides some valuable advice about how to act when faced with them. Sometimes you need a lawyer when you’re in trouble, but you have to engage with them before you are fully in need of their services. Doing so enables you to strategize how best to navigate disputes to get the best outcome over the long term. KEY TAKEAWAYS Miners get a bad rap, so often end up being treated badly, especially junior miners. There are two main types of disputes that Tim handles – commercial and claims against sovereign states. Disputes with sovereign states include a failure to protect the mining site from unrest. If you are investing in a country, first check that your country has a treaty in place with that country. Using holding companies is an effective way to better utilise treaties. Ask the hard questions. Think about what could go wrong, what your rights would be and how to strengthen them. Be very careful about what you say in public and to governments. As soon as things start to go wrong consult a lawyer. They will help you to put together a strategic response to secure the best possible outcome. Resource nationalism is a powerful force that underpins many disputes. Treaties make it hard for states to cease assets off of companies because they are foreigners. BEST MOMENTS ‘Being a lawyer is being a perpetual student, you are always having to learn new industries. ´ ‘It is not just risky jurisdictions that you need to be wary of.’ ‘They should watch what they say to the government and recognise that there´s going to be diminishing returns when interacting with the government.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://www.bsfllp.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/boies-schiller-&-flexner-llp VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 250The World Still Needs Coal to Keep the Lights on with Nathan Tinkler

In this episode, we chat to Nathan Tinkler, a well-known Australian mining executive with a colourful and interesting past who began his career as a qualified electrician in the coal mines of the Hunter Valley. He soon became one of the leading mining executives in Australia’s coal mining industry. He made some very shrewd investments between 2006 to 2012 and was named by the BRW Magazine as Australia’s youngest billionaire. His career, unfortunately, took a turn for the worst over the next few years which we will cover. Nathan is now the CEO of Bentley Resources and is going to give us an insight into his career, his highs, and lows, and more importantly talk about his passion which is the coal industry and why coal is needed, and what the future holds for the black stuff. KEY TAKEAWAYS For Nathan, going from being a tradesman to CEO was a natural progression. He just continually built on his knowledge. Continuous improvement is what generates results. The coal sector improves slowly, there is no real leadership in the industry. Mining is a great employer, the fact that people are well paid gives them the chance to transform their lives. The industry needs to develop the people they already have better. You cannot turn off coal if you do not have an alternative. Australia is just starting to experience the power issues Europe has been suffering. There are plenty of industries that pollute more than coal. The climate change story is all clickbait, it is not being told accurately. Coal assets that are being gotten sold off are still economically viable. Investor pressure is forcing companies to unload their fossil fuel holdings. BEST MOMENTS ‘If you improve something once it can be improved again. ´ ‘People want to sell assets, but they do not want to sell it to anyone who´s going to make it successful.’ ‘Be mindful of the people below you and your objectives and how much you need those people.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Websites: https://www.bentley.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/bentleysystems Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BentleySystems YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/BentleySystems Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bentleysystems/ VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 249Tackling Mental Health Issues - with Grant Budge

In this episode, we chat with Grant Budge, founder of Integrity Media (UK) who is tackling mental health through literature and creative writing. Grant originally came from the coal mining industry. He discusses mental health management in the mining industry which is increasing. We look at the symptoms and how mental management can be better managed in the mining industry. KEY TAKEAWAYS One in four people will suffer a mental health issue, every year. With mental health problems, accepting where you are at is one of the most important steps. Creative writing gives you headspace and helps in other ways to restore mental health. Mental health issues are still stigmatized. People hide their mental health problems, very effectively. Working in mining is stressful by its very nature. Levels build over time. Exhaustion is also an issue in the mining industry. Societal change is important. There is no point in healing someone. Then, throw them back into the same pressure cooker. Mining companies need to be on the front foot to help people to nip the issue in the bud. BEST MOMENTS ‘There´s a number of stages in going through mental health challenges. ´ ‘You need to know that when you disclose something to somebody, you can trust them.’ ‘One in four people have a challenge per year, it is normal.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: www.integrity-media.co.uk Twitter: @RebuildRelaunch Instagram: @RebuildRelaunch Facebook: Integrity Media VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 248Why The Soft Commodities Market is Likely to be Short-Lived With Anthony Milewski

In this episode, we chat to Anthony Milewski, Chairman of Nickel 28, an innovative battery metals-focused investment vehicle with a focus on metal streaming and royalty agreements offering our investors exposure to metals integral to key technologies of the electric vehicle and energy storage markets. He previously appeared on the podcast back in July 2021, in episode 153, so check that out. Anthony is an entrepreneur with a background in Finance and Law and gives us an update on Nickel 28 and also talks about what is happening in the world with Russia, China, and the markets and how this is impacting the global supply of materials now and in the future. KEY TAKEAWAYS Nickel 28 has had a run of great quarters with production. They are now in a position to pay back their debt. When you see new demand emerging like there is for battery metals, the opportunities are huge. The global supply chain issues have created big challenges, especially for nickel. The current weakness in some commodities is likely to be temporary. When China comes back online properly that is likely to change. The sanctions and war in Ukraine have been highly disruptive. De-globalization is highly likely to happen, which should make mining easier in some countries. The biggest issue for the industry is a lack of funding. BEST MOMENTS ‘When you have a new technology, a new demand for a given commodity, you see a complete structured change in that commodity. ´ ‘The market might be soft until the entire world is back online and operating as normal.’ ‘The longer-term fix here is de-globalization.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Twitter - https://twitter.com/a_milewski Website - https://www.nickel28.com/ Episode 153 with Antony Milewski - https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/streaming-royalties-investments-understanding-carbon/id1440020656?i=1000528907518 VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 247Recognising and Managing Climate Risks and Opportunities with Catherine Perry

In this episode, we chat with Catherine Perry, an Associate with Climate Risk Services. A company that are supporting clients in understanding, assessing, and managing climate risks and opportunities. Catherine is a geoscientist by background and worked for a number of mining companies and consultancies. She talks about climate risk within our industry. Sharing how companies can adapt and embed climate into their governance, strategy, risk management, their metrics and targets with the goal of improving their climate resilience. KEY TAKEAWAYS TFCD stands for Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures, which is becoming mandated in more countries. Climate Risk Services helps companies to understand climate risks. Giving them access to the data they need to make sound decisions. They offer scenario planning and analysis and encourage people to embed this into their day-to-day work. They look at 4 areas in particular, which Catherine explains in the podcast. Mining companies have to consider the indirect risks of climate change as well as the direct ones like the increased risk of flooding. Some mining companies are building desalination plants to deal with a lack of water from drought. Net zero is definitely the preference. When it comes to climate, standards and guides are changing rapidly, which is an additional challenge. For some strategies there is often government funding available to help. BEST MOMENTS ‘When we talk about climate risks, we´re not just talking about direct climate risks, we are also thinking of indirect risks. ´ ‘It´s not all about climate risk, it is also about recognising climate opportunity.’ ‘Push to have a climate resilience committee set up and push to be a part of it.’ EPISODE RESOURCES LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/climate-risk-services/ Website: https://www.climateriskservices.com/ Catherine Perry LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/catherineperrygeo/ VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 246Letting The Drill Bit Talk With Robert Quartermain And Jonathan Awde From Dakota Gold

In this episode, we chat with Robert Quartermain and Jonathan Awde from Dakota Gold, a responsible gold exploration and development company with a specific focus on revitalising the Homestake District which has high calibre gold mineral properties covering 40K acres in South Dakota. Robert the chairman of the company has a wealth of industry experience and is this year’s newest inductee to the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame. Jonathon is President, Director & CEO and has a finance background raising financing for various junior resource companies, focusing on institutional accounts, high net worth and family offices within the natural resources industry. We talk about Dakota Gold which they have recently formed and what the plans are for the future with the exciting discovery they have made. KEY TAKEAWAYS In the nineties discoveries were made that were not followed up because the gold price was too low. Now, exploiting them is viable. They have seen proof of concept, from their first hole. The mineralisation is dense. There are high concentrations of gold in a small geographical area. The mining area is well connected and has sound infrastructure. Pulling together and digitising historic exploration results quickly uncovers new opportunities. Dakota Gold is listed on the New York exchange. Robert Quartermain came out of retirement to get involved. BEST MOMENTS ‘We have 125 years of data throughout the region that has never really been followed up systematically. ´ ‘Nobody has looked at it through a $1,800 gold price lens, only through a $300 gold price lens.’ ‘You've got forty-one million ounces spread across just a couple of miles - one of the most concentrated areas of high-grade gold mineralization in the world.’ ‘It is located in a safe jurisdiction where you can operate and function with the rule of law.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://dakotagoldcorp.com/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSLkhlM4U1iL3RRwC24iueg/videos LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/dakotagold/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/DakotaGoldCorp VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 245Tight Drilling Uncovers New High-Value Gold Resources with Jim Greig of Benchmark Metals

In this episode, we chat to Jim Greig, President and Director of Benchmark Metals, a mineral exploration company focused on proving and developing the substantial resource potential of the Lawyer’s Gold and Silver project, located in the prolific Golden Horseshoe area of northern BC, Canada. Jim has a geology background and has worked in Africa and Canada over the past 25 years. He talks to us about Benchmark Metals which currently has a 3-million-ounce 43-101 compliant resource with an updated Mineral Resource Estimate coming out shortly and much more…. KEY TAKEAWAYS Benchmark Metals is a gold and silver developer. In 2021, they provided nearly 3 million tonnes from 3 open pits. They are averaging 1.5 grams per tonne for gold, which is higher than normal for the area. A new find is averaging 2 grams per tonne. They are on the verge of disseminating an updated and much better resource estimate and PA. The quality of the gold and silver uncovered by the tight drilling is of a much higher grade. Canada is an excellent mining jurisdiction. Jim explains why he thinks Benchmark Metals is under-valued. The entire management team are all heavily invested in the company. BEST MOMENTS ‘So, we´ve really de-risked the project with tight space drilling. ´ ‘We have two core zones in the open pits that have +2 tram material at the surface’ ‘There are multiple major mining companies looking to buy in this region.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://www.benchmarkmetals.com Email: [email protected] VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 244Building the Right Culture and Leveraging it to Grow Fast in Mexico with Jody Kuzenko

In this episode, we chat to Jody Kuzenko, President & CEO of Torex Gold Resources, a Canadian-based gold producer engaged in exploring, developing, and operating its Morelos Gold Property in the highly prospective Guerrero Gold Belt in Mexico. Jody is a senior mining executive with over 20 years of operational and business experience with a background in law. She has been with Torex Gold since 2018. Moving from COO to CEO within 18 months. Jody gives us an update on what has been happening since we last spoke back in October 2020 in episode 98. We also cover the recent approval of their Media Luna Project. KEY TAKEAWAYS In just a few years Torex has grown to become the second-largest gold producer in Mexico. They run open pits and underground mines as well as an integrated mill and processing plant. Work on their new Media Luna, a gold, silver, and copper project, in Guerrero, is progressing well. They have already found 3.3 million ounces at just over four and a half grams per tonne gold equivalent. Not being realistic about CapEx is a bad habit the industry has gotten into, which is undermining investor confidence. Torex has been extra careful to be realistic about the CapEx, e.g., factoring in true inflation. El Lion and Guajes are still producing well. Seventy-five percent of their land package is still to be explored. For mining companies’ culture is vital. It is a hugely complex industry that relies on good relationships with so many others. It takes a lot of work to get to the stage where employees turn up and willingly do their best, but it pays huge dividends for everyone. Torex takes a different approach to culture than many mining companies, which Jody explains in detail, during the episode. If the industry wants diversity, “hiring from the club” has to stop. BEST MOMENTS ‘Given the prosperity of the land package, we believe we will be mining it all for decades to come.’ ‘We are absolutely committed to delivering this project on time, on budget… we have consistently delivered on our commitment to the market, over the past 3 years.’ ‘We will transform finite mineral resources into lasting prosperity and make a change in the lives of the people that we touch.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://torexgold.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/torex-gold-resources-inc Twitter: https://twitter.com/torexgold Email: [email protected] Previous podcast with Jody - https://omny.fm/shows/dig-deep-the-mining-podcast/revolutionising-underground-mining-with-jody-kuzen VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 243Recognising Artisanal Miners’ Role and Working to Positively Impact Their Lives With Hugh Brown

In this episode, we chat with Hugh Brown, a Best-Selling Documentary Photographer within our industry. He is in the process of photographing a major book about the lives of the world's 40 million artisanal miners. Hugh is on the podcast to talk about artisanal mining. To make us aware that these people exist within our industry. He shares details of the many challenges they face, daily. Explaining how we as an industry need to acknowledge them and work to protect them in our pursuit to mine the land. He also discusses the Garimpeiros Project which is all about putting pressure on the world’s richest nations and companies to properly plan for what happens to these artisanal miners once they lose their jobs. KEY TAKEAWAYS Garimpeiros is a Portuguese word that is now used globally to describe independent artisanal miners. Forty million artisanal miners are working in all kinds of conditions, across the world. Most artisanal miners are working in extremely poor countries. In general, artisanal mining pays far better than other work does. When third parties suddenly say to them you cannot work like that, they lose their livelihood and any chance of lifting themselves out of poverty. Usually, when big firms move in, they strike deals with the government and the artisanal miners receive nothing. Artisanal miners have no voice, no say in how their industry changes. Billions of dollars are being spent on responsible sourcing initiatives. Yet, most of it goes on consultants. If we want to change the way things are done, we can. But, if it negatively impacts others, we need to do something to mitigate that. BEST MOMENTS ‘These people I am photographing don’t have a voice. ´ ‘We need to take into account the impact of decisions on employment. If there’s a detrimental impact, we need to mitigate it.’ EPISODE RESOURCES If you’d like to support Hugh in this important work, please click here. Ep 242Developing a Multi-Million Ounce District in Mexico with Michael Konnert

In this episode we chat with Michael Konnert, CEO and Founder of Vizsla Silver Corp, a junior mining company exploring, developing, and acquiring precious and base metal assets in Mexico. Michael is a young entrepreneur and businessperson who has founded several companies. He has cemented himself as a mining executive with a bright and prosperous future. We are going to talk about Vizsla Silver and some of the other companies he is involved in. Plus, we talk about ESG, gold, and inflation. KEY TAKEAWAYS Vizsla Silver has produced over 106 million ounces of mixed resources in 18 months. There is a pathway for the district to become a multi-million-ounce producer. Vizsla is running the largest silver exploration project in the world and has already made multiple, high-grade discoveries. Michael is also involved in Vizsla Copper and Surge Copper. For copper there is a big demand gap. Archer Corporation, which focuses on nickel is another project Michael is working on. Supply chain challenges are slowing things down occasionally. As is a lack of qualified people. There are also long delays from assay labs. The recent fall in some mining shares, represents a big opportunity. Michael explains why he believes that is the case. Inflation and stock market conditions are creating the ideal conditions for gold and silver. Generalist investors are not investing in metals at scale, but it is coming. Despite ESG and metals being essential for modern life, the mining industry still has a big image problem. BEST MOMENTS ‘We were able to put out over 106 million ounces of combined indicated and inferred resources. ´ ‘I think that creates a huge opportunity, and quite possibly a generational buying opportunity here.’ ‘We need to do a job as a mining industry to communicate with mainstream, secular audiences.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Twitter: https://twitter.com/VizslaSilver Vizsla Silver Corp - https://vizslasilvercorp.ca/ Inventa Capital - https://www.inventacapital.ca/ VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Masan Resources is positioning itself to be ready for when raw materials like lithium will be in short supply. Sustainability is no longer seen as a cost. Doing it well saves money. Urban mines that recycle urban waste are an important part of the future. Technology has its place, but you can´t beat face to face for building relationships, sharing knowledge, and solving problems. Now we socialise less with colleagues, it is harder to build relationships and mentoring does not happen naturally. BEST MOMENTS ‘It is a polymetallic site with tungsten, fluorspar, copper, bismuth, and a bit of gold.´ ‘The quality of your people is the difference between a poor company, a good company, and a great company.’ ‘When you are adding value to that process, you are adding value to your customers.’ ‘Face-to-face collaboration adds greater value to an organisation than the cost of a flight and accommodation.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://masanhightechmaterials.com/ LinkedIn: https://vn.linkedin.com/in/craig-bradshaw-8334a125 LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/masan-hightech-materials YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/MasanHighTechMaterials/featured Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nuiphaominingcompany VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 239Why Hard And Fast Exploration Works For Gold in Canada With Terry Harbort

In this episode, we chat with Terry Harbort, President, CEO & Director at Talisker Resources, a junior resource company involved in the exploration of gold projects in British Columbia, Canada. Including the Bralorne Gold Complex and its historical high-grade producing gold mine as well as its Spences Bridge Project. Terry is an experienced campaigner, with a background in structural geology with his experience being across Australia, South America, and Canada. He’s here today to share his journey, provide some useful education around epithermal gold, and tell us about Talisker Resources and the projects they are involved in. KEY TAKEAWAYS Mining in Canada and Australia is in some ways similar. But the tax structure in Canada makes it far easier to raise capital. The bitcoin and marijuana era had a significant impact on mining capital. Terry explains why in the podcast. Talisker is all about grass-root, early-stage exploration. They do it at scale and assess projects quickly. They take advantage of being the first explorer in an area. Talisker Resources has taken control of 85% of the soon-to-be emerging Spences Bridge gold belt. The area is extremely well connected and has excellent infrastructure. There is a grade range of 7 to 9 grams. The plan is to take it to 100,000 tonnes annually at Bralorne by upgrading the current permit. At Golden Hornet they have found evidence of gold in every one of the fourteen holes they have drilled. Their two other projects in the pipeline are showing promise too. Listen out for Terry's potatoes in a boiling pot analogy, which he uses to explain what they look for during the early stages of exploration. BEST MOMENTS ‘We see gold exploration, particularly, as a numbers game, a statistical game. ´ ‘We were able to conduct the largest single land stake in British Columbia, in history.’ ‘We are not a company that looks for just one win, then goes to the Bahamas. Ep 233Lessons Learned During a 30 Year Mining Career With Steve Letwin Chairman of Cassiar Gold

In this episode, we chat to Steve Letwin, Chairman of Cassiar Gold, a Canadian exploration company focused on the exploration of its two gold projects in British Columbia — the Cassiar Gold and the Sheep Creek Gold projects. Steve brings over 30 years of experience from the resource sector, where he specialises in corporate finance, operational management, and merger and acquisitions, including 10 years as President and CEO of IAMGOLD. He talks about his career, lessons he learned, and the importance of NPV within a mining company and discusses his exciting new project with Cassiar Gold. KEY TAKEAWAYS Having a strong team on the ground and listening to them is vital. It makes the impossible possible. Hire locally and help the community to build the skills they need to continue to prosper even if the mine closes. You can't do it all. Get the right people in the right slots. Then, empower and equip them. Show your shareholders a path to success to maximise your share value. Cassier Gold has just over a million ounces, which are economically recoverable and of high value. There is already infrastructure, water, and power, from past mining activity, on-site. The relationship with the community is excellent. When it is easy to raise cash, raise as much as you can. Poor cash flow kills profitable companies. Gold has a huge future. The dollar as a haven is coming under pressure. Other reasons for gold´s strength are discussed in the episode. Invest in companies that can replace depletion. Junior CEOs always overestimate their honeymoon period. If you don't demonstrate progress, investors will leave. Ep 230The Benefits of Taking Social Performance Seriously With Tricia Wilhelm

In this episode, we chat with Tricia Wilhelm, Head of Social Performance for Anglo American, one of the largest and most diversified mining companies in the world. Tricia has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the mining industry. Her experience has been around Sustainable Development, Social Performance, Stakeholder Engagement, Resettlement, and Social Impact Assessment. We are here today to have a more in-depth discussion around ESG and social performance and how we as a mining community can better prepare ourselves for future changes in the industry. KEY TAKEAWAYS Social performance is about everything you are doing to maintain your social license to operate. It is not about philanthropy or one-off donations or infrastructure builds. Modern miners need to take a proactive approach to social performance. Social performance needs to be a consideration at all stages. In the same way, things like cost and technology are. A lot of mining companies do not employ people with the right experience or provide them with enough resources to be able to work proactively. Social performance is a bit part of the E and G aspects of ESG. In the podcast, Tricia demonstrates why that is the case. People do not want to work for companies that do not have a positive impact. To get your social performance right you need to work in a truly cross-disciplinary way. The industry needs to work more collaboratively to improve social performance. It costs less, is more effective, and improves the acceptance of mining as an industry. Ep 228Mining High-Grade Copper-Gold And Polymetals in Sweden With Peter George

In this episode, we chat with Peter George, MD for Alicanto Minerals who are an exploration company with a portfolio of historically producing, high-grade Copper-Gold and Polymetallic Skarn and VMS projects located in Sweden. Peter is a mining engineer and mineral economist with a background in operations and management and more recently in executive management. He talks to us about Alicanto Minerals and their historic Sala project plus what it’s like to mine in Sweden. KEY TAKEAWAYS Alicanto has been uncovering rich deposits of copper, gold, zinc, silver, lead, and other assets in Sweden. They are a couple of months out from setting up their maiden resource at Sala. Gaining access to the historical records revealed 20,000 litres of the historical core. At 1244 grams per tonne, the historical silver grades were crazy high. Drilling using the latest technology has revealed assets that were not in the historical data, at Sala. Security worries, the drive to zero carbon, and low stockpiles are pushing governments to facilitate faster permitting. Free trade is being replaced by protectionism, which means a will to mine raw materials locally. Not all areas of Sweden move as quickly as the authorities have done in the Sala area. To succeed in mining, push yourself to learn new things, put yourself out there, and do as much as you can before you have family responsibilities. BEST MOMENTS ‘Sweden has its own particular nuances around permitting and timing, but with experience, you can navigate yourself through. ´ ‘The stockpiles of copper, zinc, the basics we need for everyday life are down to weeks.’ ‘I see massive opportunities for European mining.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://www.alicantominerals.com.au/ LinkedIn: https://au.linkedin.com/company/alicanto-minerals-ltd Twitter: https://twitter.com/AusAlicanto Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AlicantoMinerals/ VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 227Multi Metal Mining in Wales And Other Global Assets With Jo Battershill

In this episode, we chat to Jo Battershill, MD, and CEO of Anglesey Mining - a UK mining listed company that is listed on the LSE (and soon to be AIM). It has interests in Wales, Sweden, and Canada. The main property is their Parys Mountain project in Wales. It hosts a significant polymetallic zinc, copper, lead, silver, and gold deposit. Jo has a mining geology background but has also worked in finance and has a well-rounded career and more recently worked in a non-executive capacity for a few mining entities. Jo tells us all about their historical Parys Mountain project in Wales. KEY TAKEAWAYS The mine on Anglesey was established in 1988, but when the zinc price plummeted development stalled. The most recent analysis shows that this is now primarily a copper asset. Between 40 and 45%. Zinc represents circa 35% of the deposit. With silver, lead, and gold making up the rest. The site can be mined using a very small footprint. The local community is immensely proud of the mine and their heritage and are supportive. They are planning to extract between 15,000 and 20,000 tonnes per year. Resources are sitting in 4 bands from just beneath the surface to a depth of about 600 metres. The Grangesberg iron ore site in Sweden is a strategic asset. What Sweden is doing with zero carbon steel production is amazing. In April, Anglesey Mining will be on AIM. BEST MOMENTS ‘The project never failed for technical reasons. It´s failed because of market timing. ´ ‘I think it’s actually harder to permit a new operation than it is to find one.’ ‘It’s really part of the heritage of the town and people are genuinely supportive.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://www.angleseymining.co.uk LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/anglesey-mining-plc Twitter: https://twitter.com/AngleseyMining VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 226Mining Challenges That Many Will Find Surprising With Alan Clegg

In this episode, we chat with Alan Clegg, who has a wealth of experience in all aspects of the Metals & Minerals Value Chain from Exploration to operations and through to Mine Closure, including financing, project management, construction & execution. As a competent person for Independent Engineers & Technical Reporting Alan presents regularly at conferences. He is here today to talk about Key Elements of an energy and environment-focused economic future. This episode is packed full of information and key challenges the industry should be thinking about as we continue to move in 2022 and beyond. KEY TAKEAWAYS Many base metals will soon be in deficit, so their values will soar. Examples are provided in the podcast. There is a lot of liquidity, but environmental concerns mean that not enough of that cash is reaching the mining industry. At the same time, the world is desperate for the metals needed for green energy infrastructure. Demand for uranium is likely to boom. Calls for nuclear energy are growing. Africa is perfectly placed for this. Renewables will continue to grow, but people are now questioning how viable and green they really are. Africa has great potential for mining. But large swathes of it have been mortgaged to the Chinese. Investors with fewer ESG concerns than Western investors are moving fast and are picking up vital assets in Africa. African brownfield exploration is uncovering large deposits. Africa still has huge thermal coal reserves. They will use it to produce power and global demand means this is a growth area. Clean coal technology makes it far greener than most people realise. Some of the world´s most important mines are in countries with resource, political unrest, and war issues. Most Western infrastructure is 100+ years old and needs replacing. So, demand for iron ore should increase. BEST MOMENTS ‘There´s a lot of questions around renewables that one has to be awake to. ´ ‘Platinum and palladium are repositioning themselves very strongly as energy metals.’ ‘There´s a huge reset coming, in my view, and the mining and energy sector values will go ballistic.’ ‘Almost every base metal commodity will be in serious deficit by next year.’ EPISODE RESOURCES LinkedIn: https://za.linkedin.com/in/alan-m-clegg-pr-eng-00227a9 VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. Ep 225Extracting Low-Cost High-Quality Heavy Rare Earths From Adsorption Clay Deposits With Tim Harrison

In this episode, we speak to Tim Harrison, MD of Ionic Rare Earths that is focused on developing its flagship Makuutu Rare Earths project in Uganda into a significant, low-cost, supplier of high-value critical and heavy rare earths. Tim has a chemical and metallurgy background with a track record across both mineral processing and hydrometallurgy. He has worked with a wide range of commodities and talks to us more about Ionic Rare Earths. Including providing a project update. KEY TAKEAWAYS The Makuutu Rare Earths project in Uganda is an ionic adsorption clay deposit. It is easier, faster, and cheaper to extract Rare Earth Elements (REEs) from clay than it is from hard rock ore. Adsorption clay deposits give you a different basket of metals. Heavy Rare Earth Elements are used across multiple sectors including zero-carbon, medical, military, and EVs. Without heavy rare earths, you cannot have the permanent magnet motors the electric vehicle and offshore wind industries need. Thirty-three percent of their production is magnetic rare earths. Ionic liquids technology is making separation far faster and easier. Ionic Rare Earths are also involved in developing technology that recycles spent magnets. Demand for rare earths will increase drastically in the next 10 years. Without magnet rare earths, net-zero goals cannot be achieved. BEST MOMENTS ‘Organic adsorption clay produces a different composition of rare earth elements. ´ ‘We've got 33% of our basket being neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium, and terbium, which are the four key magnet rare earths.’ ‘We´ve had tremendous support from the Ugandan authorities.’ EPISODE RESOURCES Website: https://ionicre.com.au/ LinkedIn: https://au.linkedin.com/company/ionic-rare-earths-limited Twitter: https://twitter.com/ionic_re?lang=en Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/124924299561369/ Email: [email protected] VALUABLE RESOURCES Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.mining-international.org/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MiningRobTyson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theminingpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/DigDeepTheMiningPodcast/videos ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry.
