S1 Ep 386#386 - Leaving Your Comfort Zone
We just finished our June Volume Camp and learned a lot of lessons about facing challenges and leaving our comfort zones. Today, we talk about how pushing yourself into unfamiliar situations can be can help you be a better triathlete, grow in life and get closer to the person you want to become. Normalizing discomfort can be how we get better. Topics: The things that matter A do or die high Re charging your life Trying to control the narrative around comfort levels How action meets accountability Why work so hard with no races? Growth opportunities in Triathlon Familiarity and comfort Varying courses and challenges Being totally comfortable is active recovery Taking pain and discomfort as danger Perceived and real fear feel the exact same Growing with uncomfortable situations "If it ain't broke, don't fix it?" Are you progressing or regressing? Comfortable being fine? What challenges do for us Possibilities are unique to ourselves "We barely scratch the surface" - you're truly never done Our experiences are everything Isolation and anxiety Our responsibility to build connection right now They need some Muncie Volunteers, especially the day before the race in the Athlete Registration (Athlete Check in). S1 Ep 385#385 - How Mental Fatigue and Stress Mask Fitness
It's better to be undertrained than 1% over trained. Today, we talk about how fatigue and stress mask fitness and why it's often more important to get your mind and emotions straight. We get into the freedom of training "light" and why adding more isn't the answer. Are you chasing all the time, or trailing with poise? The baggage we carry Stress is Stress What's a Day Off to you? Fatigue Masks Fitness Stress to soak in It's hard to be objective - 9 Hours in the car shelled me - looking from the outside I have a lot of shit going on - I need to ask for help Go run with someone else Take time to connect with people Good stress is stress too Minimal effective dose When we think more is more is more Addictive personality - being "fine" with feeling "fine" - getting used to feeling Juiced . . . Burn your matches on Race Day When your mind blows before your body "I didn't have it today" - athletes say that on 1 hour runs The mental and emotional weighs you down It's better to be undertrained than 1% overtrained What are we chasing? Just because someone's doing it doesn't mean it's right More isn't always better Are you an over-achiever or over-doer Chase under control Does mood follow action or action follow mood? Mike's dog can sense she's moving . . . They need some Muncie Volunteers, especially the day before the race in the Athlete Registration (Athlete Check in). So if you're racing or have family going, they'd love your help and it's a great way to help this race get things going in the right direction for our season! https://ironman.volunteerlocal.com/volunteer/?id=47849 The C26 Online Hub is now open to the public! S1 Ep 384#384 - What's REALLY Important To You?
There are so many distractions that suck the energy out of our lives. Are you focused on what's really important? For many, this has turned into the longest "off-season" in our triathlon careers, so how do you find that race community energy more often? Changing up workouts, focusing on little things that help you escape from the grind, be a better and happier person? Today we look at some of the traps we've fallen into and how to escape them. Topics: Self-supported Ironman How do you handle not having a race? Endurance sports let you race by yourself Addicted to headlines What's REALLY important to you? Spending energy vs. being busy Trying to make money, arguing about sports or politics you'll never solve Obsessed with showing our work The extended "off season" Shifting gears to create new habits The Ironman weekend "escape" It's your chance to escape Triathlon to top off energy stores Mike's Bungee cord analogy How much tension in your life? S1 Ep 383#383 - Training Into Happiness
Most of us get into this sport to change something in our lives, and that process can make things more uncomfortable. Sometimes we lean in for upper cuts instead of managing the body blows. Today, we talk about learning what we truly want and how training should help that process vs. digging a deeper hole. We also look at how Ironman is used as a mask or shield and how to let that go by showing yourself grace. Topics: Robbie hits a new age group Mike is a beacon of hope in his 50's Camp is coming Normalizing discomfort People come to triathlon because they "want something" Craving more training to alleviate the discomfort What is so impactful that it can change the way you live Changing pain thresholds You can't train your way into being happy Taking body blows vs. upper cuts Are you jazzed to wake up to an average day? Triathlon as a band aid vs. true healing Ironman depression The quest to be happy Using Ironman as a mask or Shield Looking at the past to justify What's important to us is always changing Robbie talks about getting crushed in his trail race And how he responded to not racing his race The C26 Online Hub is now open to the public! S1 Ep 376#376 - Fitness over Speed
Do you get caught up in the numbers or look at the body of work? Athletes have to understand that fatigue masks fitness and shooting for numbers or speed on every workout is a losing proposition when it comes to racing. Today we talk about training in heat, preparing for specific courses and why understanding accumulated stress is the secret to racing. Your race isn't today, so what are you doing to get better? Topics: Podcasting future Losers on Netflix The Heat is on . . . did you just get slower? Judging fitness in a vacuum General fitness vs. Performance Fitness It's how your body handles stress Do you recover well after intervals? Can you replicate intervals? You can't always chase a speed or a number We become our own reality of who we think we are Your fastest days could be more about conditions Creating fitness for Wisconsin or Florida? You hit it in training but not the race Training for specific race courses Fitness is about ability to bounce back Time running vs. distance Stress score points Tired legs and accumulated fatigue Fatigue masks fitness What are you trying to build? What are you trying to become? When you're too tired to show off your engine Expressing current fitness vs. Durability Today is not the race, so what are you doing? S1 Ep 375#375 - The Return to Racing and "Winning"
We love you all! Thanks for listening to our podcasts. Today, we look at winning and how that means different things to different people. We talk about ways to reframe your definition of winning, and how we confuse sacrifices with making choices. Some of this is focused on "The Last Dance" documentary with Michael Jordan and how he shaped competition and winning. Most of us can learn from that, but . . . it's also important to realize we are not Michael Jordan. There's also stuff on how to make faster transitions. Topics: How racing may look different this year You need to become self-sufficient at races Being faster in transition - Walk the swim to transition path Count and landmark your bike Towels aren't just for kids Helmet on bike shoes Walk the bike-in Keep it lean Leaving transition with ice Pick up your water bottle if you drop it In-race is not the time to wing it What is winning? Michael Jordan's Last Dance Discussion Winning is relative Michael Phelps struggles The mental side of winning How much are you willing to sacrifice? Sacrifice vs. Choice Can you be the best without being an ass? Life changes in an instant Why aren't you enjoying this? Motivation for winning Prove something to yourself Do you see yourself as success or failure? Mind games athletes need to play Virtual Medals and Podiums The C26 Online Hub is now open to the public! This is different for everyone and definitely a "control the controllables" situation. It's important to take lean toward the positive because misery loves company. We all want to race and want them to be safe. Race directors are making tough decisions. It may seem naive to be optimistic, but you'll never regret hoping for the best and the gains you made along the way. Triathlon is a never-ending challenge. Find what inspires you today and let that be your motivation. Topics: Ironman used to be like getting tickets for a concert Is Muncie ready to set the tone? It's important to support the sport however you can Race management companies trying to find a way There's gonna be some changes Race Directors and tough decisions The most important thing for your life right now This is tough for EVERYONE Take care of yourself first but don't judge anyone else Different ways we handle stress Reseting your brain after a race is cancelled Misery loves company Races are now like pop quizzes Stepping out of the comfort zone How giving up gets rid of pressure Siding with your optimistic voice The "I told you so" mindset You're not going to regret the benefits This is bigger than all of us Ignorance is bliss Post a picture of your dog Do you feel like you're being robbed? Lots of talk about unsupported (i.e. bring your own hydration/nutrition) races. Thoughts? Is it even possible for a FULL IM? You work so hard, but can't seem to find that speed you want in the water. You're still dragging, gasping, and not seeing much return from your investments. It's time to use the water and not let use you. Swimming doesn't have to be so hard. Today we break it down in the simplest terms and make the swim stroke easy. We dive into the reach/entry, catch along with early vertical forearm, a solid pull, and powerful finish. Have your mind ready when you get back in the pool! Hand into the water, it needs to be preparing to work. Reach as far as you possibly can When you enter the water early and tvhink about a high elbow out of the water, it forces you to shorten stroke Why swimming is so difficult . . . we're not used to it. Early vertical forearm Swimming is simple: Swimming square and staying in your box What your arm should look like out of the water? 3 Different parts of the box - the stroke The front part, the middle, the back Body position and staying high in the water The cycle of a stroke Where the stroke breaks down and gives you nothing .. . Pressure on forearms How to build REAL swim fitness . . . Most of us swim the "easiest way" and taking the path of easiest resistance Pressure and fatigue means you're working Developing different gears in the water Building your Swim Cake How to not go anaerobic in a race Why your kick could be slowing you down The competitor in you . . . be excited to jump in … game's on Fitness in swimming is a domino effect What do do when you finally get back in the water Work your system harder with 25s and 50s . . . The dead spots in your stroke Just because your arm is in the water doesn't mean it's doing anything You can work so hard . . . and get nowhere. Sinking… gasping… swimming slow. ----------- The C26 Online Hub is now open to the public! S1 Ep 363#363 - Leaning Into Uncomfortable
Are you quick to pull the "relief plug?" Training for long course triathlon (and living in uncertain times) demands the ability to "stay with the pain" and go through it. Life, and triathlon are saddled with "uncomfortable moments" and the best way to remove the sting is to go through them with control and confidence. As David Goggins said, "Build calluses on the brain." How all this applies to life, training, and racing. Ultimate test of patience Have you ever wanted to quit a race? Dealing with the uncomfortable How quick are we gonna pull the "relief plug" Pain is relative Being "just comfortable enough" Un comfortability vs. Pain Recruiting slow twitch fibers Callusing your brain Negative split the pandemic Perceived stress How to set yourself up for the end of Shelter in Place Max uncomfortable state - It's okay to not like the way that you're feeling Anxiety is living in the future fear is living in the past Alleviate the suffering Practice being calm Just don't think about it . . . S1 Ep 362#362 - Playing Small Ball in the Long Game
We've all seen the fan get upset with the coach in the first quarter, only to see the team slowly dismantle the opponent over the long haul of the game. It's that mentality, that strategy, that patience that we all have to focus on now. Smart triathletes are managing their body and mind for the long game because no one really knows when racing will start again. What are you doing now that will pay off when that day finally comes? Jacque Wegner I love when you two get all philosophical, so...What about who we are becoming during this time? I'm trying to emerge as a better person than I went into SSAH. Better habits, better mindset, more courageous, better "human"..... When your next race has been postponed until the fall. I went straight from a 70.3 to Doing Disney's Dopey challenge and then a month later did 2 half marathons that were each a PR within 7 days...... and now, nothing until October is on the calendar... I don't want to lose my fitness. – Julia Mayhew What is the biggest challenge that you think athletes are facing right now - staying motivated? under training? overtraining? Ironman virtual races for Kona slots? What's an acceptable lake temperature with wet suit, no gloves or boots... This is a question for Mike Tarrolly...you're a big advocate for yoga and meditation...i could sure use some guidance for diverting my mental and physical energy away from my hospital right now...so is there a particular individual or app that you'd recommend for a beginner looking to incorporate more yoga or meditation to help reduce stress? S1 Ep 357#357 - The Endurance Mindset – We've Been Training for This
So much is unpredictable right now, but as triathletes, we've been training for this. We have solved thousands of little problems through training and racing and those are valuable lessons. The human survival loop goes like this: Trigger, behavior, and reward. If that goes Fear, worry, anxiety, we need to figure out how to break the pattern. S1 Ep 354#354 - The Ironman Game Plan
Today we look at the coaching philosophy from Dan Lorang who helped make Jan Frodeno and Anne Haug BOTH Ironman Champions in 2019. We don't always talk about pros, but amateurs can take a LOT away from these approaches to training and racing. The discussion was ignited by this article in from 220 Triathlon. We've been talking about a lot of this along the way, but today take a deeper dive into each of the elements both Frodeno and Haug said helped them become champions in Kona. "His biggest ability is to slow me down, something no one before has ever done. This enabled me to get consistency, and not just amazing training days but actually okay days and good weeks that make very good months and great years." – Jan Frodeno CONSISTENCY IS THE KEYWorking for long-term results … identifying their physiology and what workouts they can handle, and build up from there."The well being of his athletes is always top priority" - Anne HaugSlow, very healthy progressions… that peak and hold as long as you can… but never go overboard for a short-term goal. LISTEN TO YOUR BODY -With distance coaching there is a responsibility of the athlete to listen to their body and give good feedback.Coaches need to analyze workload.Supporting and empowering athlete decisions.Short term decisions for long term resultsHow to manage Zone 2 Workouts MANAGE YOUR STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSESBuild a complete triathlete that can react to any race scenario.Enjoy THAT PROCESSIronman is about energy management.Triathlon is ONE sport. The swim may take the most effort to manage your weakness"If you're behind in the swim, it takes more on the bike to catch up… than it affects your run." - Jan Frodeno ESTABLISH TRAINING PHASES - Technique and vo2max - increase aerobic capacity Strength and endurance Economisation and race intervals "Getting benefit from intervals and not only training long." - Frodeno MANAGE THE MOVE TO IRONMAN -It takes time to adapt to longer distancesDoing it faster risks injuries and failing"The hardest thing for me when moving up from ITU races was the bike." - Anne HaugYou have to be able to push big watts for a long period without drafting. BALANCE IN AND OUTDOOR RIDINGEasier to do intervals on the trainer - saferFrodeno almost always runs outside. BUILD RUN STRENGTH OVER SPEED -Long uphill runs at low intensity for strengthLong runs intervals of 1km race pace 1km easyYou have to build a cake before you add icingRunning for IM racing is more about strength and endurance than speed…. Speed work mostly in prep for 70.3. … This year I couldn't handle much high intensity - Haug RACE SHARPDon't use races as training sessions. When you race, race.Racing as a performance diagnostic…. prepare… then evaluateIf I'm on the start line, I want to go all-in - Haug TEMPER NUTRITIONAL EXTREMES - "…extremes never really work for me. The more I restrict myself, the worse I go." - Frodeno DEVELOP YOUR OWN TRI PSYCHOLOGY - Not letting the pressure be too high on yourself Concentrating on yourself and not others in training Think about race tactics and training situations Looking for an awesome coach this season? S1 Ep 352#352 - A Spiritual Path To Training And Racing
We've always been big on the mind/body connection and showing yourself grace in training and life. Today we look at what it takes to combine the physical and mental aspects of triathlon with a spiritual approach. This is about having faith in the process, giving right effort, paying attention, staying focused and learning through experience to gain wisdom. Faith – When most people talk about faith, it's tends to be of a blind faith in something. But in this case, he referred to it as "buy in." As in, actually "knowing." If, for example, a friend tells you something that is right several times, you have strong faith in that friend's advice. In the case of training, it means faith in your plan and your direction. Faith here is an open mind and a heart filled with trust so that we can reach levels of the unknown. FAITH ARISES OUT OF SEEING AND KNOWING FOR YOURSELF. INSPIRES AN OUTPOURING OF ENERGY. Effort – Obviously effort is the one thing we control and putting yourself into something without doubt (having faith) allows you to give more. You trust the plan, the movement, the path. And effort separates the achievers from the dreamers. Talent is one thing, but effort usually beats it. Mindfulness – This is at the core of everything we do. Are you here, right now, in the moment with what you're doing. This applies to everything we do in triathlon, including diet, fueling, and recovery. The more we are mindful of taking care of our body, the more it will be connected to what we would like it to do. PAYING ATTENTION TO WHAT'S GOING ON IN US AND AROUND US. LISTENING TO THE BODY. Focus – We believe in what we're doing, we're giving the right effort in a mindful way, now it's about focus. This really comes into play as we get close to a race. This isn't about squeezing your brain, though. It's a relaxed focus and the embrace of what many call a flow state. Just be with whatever is there. If you feel pain, fatigue, etc., don't judge yourself, just acknowledge it and move on. FOCUS ARISES NATURALLY OUT OF MINDFULNESS. ONE POINTED ATTENTION. IF YOU'RE MINDFUL OF YOUR BREATH, YOUR FOCUS MOVES WITH IT. Wisdom – We only gain wisdom through experience. By going through something, otherwise it's just a collection of your memories about something else deducing the best solution you can. Most times it's not real. We have to live something to really know what it's like. That's the importance of what going through a training plan gives and why I'm such a big proponent of writing things down. Thoughts, feelings, etc. Cement that wisdom so you can move forward with better solutions to problems you may face. Repeat. ------------------------- Looking for an awesome coach this season? S1 Ep 351#351 - 6 Reasons You May Not Be Improving
Are you pushing your body beyond its adaptive threshold? It's a fine line and often the difference between burnout/flatline and real, sustainable improvement. Today is about "simple" but often neglected daily reasons you may not be improving. So, how do we break the cycle of little habits that are holding us back? Sleep Make the time It's the littlest big thing This is where recovery happens How You Eat From wake up to bedtime Sleep sets your diet Do you think less is more? Is your fuel watered down? How you start sets the tone Breaking the cycle Going Too Hard Too Often Tapping into reserve vs. expanding it It's a gap between consistency and frequency Respect your body Going over the adaptation threshold Minimal effective dose Load management Not Listening to Your Body If not it will not listen to you "It's not that bad" Pay attention Always work on imbalance Not addressing niggles and pain Your body will do things to protect itself Inflammation Life is saying take a day off Stay ahead with prevention You are obsessed with Longer Do you HAVE to do an Ironman? Develop and be well rounded Space out Ironman to find real improvement Where does speed work fit into the toolbox? Hill work as speed work Do you work on skills you won't use? S1 Ep 350#350 - Just Show Up
We just hit the 1 Million download number and today we use our "Just Show Up" analogy and translate it to training. We dive into questions like, "Why do we constantly face the challenge of getting over the hump to train today?" We also talk about the trouble of setting hard goals and learning to have fun in the process. It's not about the end game as much as it is about doing something now that is moving you in the right direction. Topics: The power of two The hardest part of swim, bike, run Mindset as we inch closer to races How to free up your training How to enjoy the process Attaching success to performance The problem with comparison How outcome based goals can run our lives Taking conditions into account What it takes to Qualify or podium Fury Wilder analogy Why time goals can feel like drowning Does it feel like "you" Intention and effort are what matters Attraction not promotion The Quick fix tendency Addicted to perfection Pick one journey and process Why we keep starting over Suffering is craving something you don't have When we over train Compartmentalizing guilt Looking for an awesome coach this season? S1 Ep 349#349 - Listener Questions: Periodization, Nutrition, Strength Training, Time Vs. Mileage
Today, we open the podcast to listener questions from our Facebook Group (search Crushing Iron Group). They range from bike periodization, to maintaining fitness without a race scheduled, to benefits of training for time vs. mileage, handling missed time due to illness, short course vs. long course training, pilates, how each discipline helps the others, 70.3 nutrition and marathon training, strength training . . . and more. Questions are bolded below. YA Man! Can you talk about bike workout periodization and what structures build overall strength that increase the ability to translate into faster bike splits? Allergies or Sick? Base, build, race specifics, intensities, Athletes response to specific stimulus If something's working, why change it? Attention to detail vs. lazy For those not racing but want to keep in some reasonable shape/fitness to where they could build back toward racing in the future, what are some tips to navigate that time? What fits your schedule? Have fun and do variety? Be grateful you can Get off Netflix Your body could be thanking you If we MUST eat solid food on the bike during an IM, what are the best options? So varied but we're all different What you can and want might be different than what you should. Depends on intensity Whatever it is, practice for your gut You have to fuel for the run Bike calories are easier to take Experiment NOW on the trainer Can the "How to not suck at running" method work for a 11 year old girl who wants to run a half marathon? Working with youth is so much different I know y'all have discussed this before but would be great to get a good explanation of training off time versus mileage. I don't need the explanation for myself (time all the way) but I have a hard time conveying the idea to others that think mileage is the most important. Your body only knows time and perceived effort Understanding the weekly volume of stress Wind, terrain, overall stress all matter People force themselves out of their zone Awesome! How do you coach an athlete who misses 3-5 consecutive days of a high-volume block due to illness? Obviously there's a lot of individual variability here, but missing nearly 10 hours of training is mentally challenging..not to mention your body hasn't moved in days. Just wondering how you would suggest re-introducing training within a high-volume block. You can't just make things up, you should re-work things We need to figure out why and lessen the stress Wait 24 hours even after you feel good again Catch up doesn't work I feel like Mike is not being himself lately. Can we just work in a few YEA MANS?!? Mike has to continue to be the Mike we have grown to love - don't change Mike!! Be yourself! Also what will it take to get Mike Tarrolly to resume his signature yea man riff. We need a solid yea man in the pod today to resume consistency. What's the fastest tt bike in the world? The one ridden by the fastest cyclist You touched on it a little in the last podcast about the minimal differences needed between short course and long course base training, but could you further talk about any differences in training philosophy between those doing short course vs long course tris...maybe specifically in similarities and differences in workout types. Generally it's volume Z1 and Z2 volume is still incredibly valuable Sprints and Olys are still about durability Do we really have to do strength training? Should you? It depends on goals and time available When overcoming a shoulder injury and beginning to swim, should strength training be incorporated into the training in conjunction with swimming to build up the upper body from lack of use? Don't underestimate body weight work Does the time of day you do a workout matter? Is morning best? Let your day, feeling and energy dictate Best way to prepare for a 70.3 in six weeks with four hours of training time a week? Mostly kidding. Best bang for your buck for improving swim speed - swim coach or just more swimming sessions? Both? Take up duathlons instead? What's your take on Pilates? How does each discipline (swim, bike, run) impact and improve the other disciplines? Example; cycling to running. Or swimming to cycling. Any benefits of focusing on one discipline over the others? They all help each other, but it is athlete dependent and on their history IM long training day/race nutrition. Have always struggled with feeling depleted once I hit the 4-5 hour mark. Have a real hard time with all the sugar from Gels/Gatorade. Is it just a matter of training your gut? Is it normal feel like 💩 after a very long endurance race? Or is it a sign that you: didn't fuel right, pushed too hard, didn't train enough, etc. I have felt completely drained after each of my marathons, and I've always wondered if that's normal or if I should have done something different. Marathons will leave you trashed But . . . there are varying degrees of trash Advice for beginners! I am learning that there is a lot more than I thought th
S1 Ep 348#348 - Create New Habits, Not Results
Is your happiness connected to contingency events? "If I get this, then I will be that?" The key to getting the results you want is building the little habits and not looking back with the idea that you "should have" done this or that. "If I get this, then I will be that" is a dicey way to live. We are all in the process of life and training. Success doesn't equal safety, because there's never gonna be a time when we say, "Yep, I'm done." Today, the art of creating your own reality to face triathlon with a positive and fun attitude that adds purpose to your training and ultimately leads to ongoing success. Topics: Things are things until we give them meaning What's next, what's next, what's next? Let go of your mistakes We think success means safety About the Process Is today what you dreamed of 3 years ago? There's never going to be a time when you say, "yep, I'm done." It's time to create new habits, not results Look back on what you've overcome Appreciating the process What are you doing right? What are the minority of my actions that drive the majority of results 50 things half done and nothing finished Creating tangible successful opportunities What is attainable at this moment? Isolation vs. Community Believe what you believe and let it lead It's easy to be, and okay to be wrong Reacting vs. Making Life 60 Days of anxiety or doing your best? Don't be hypocritical to yourself Looking for an awesome coach this season? Former Professional triathlete, Jessica Jacobs is now coaching for C26 Triathlon. S1 Ep 347#347 - Building Aerobic Base to Get Faster
Most of us aren't in our 20's anymore, but we tend to think like that when it comes to speed work. Today, we look at the Aerobic Base Phase of training and explain how it is the key to getting faster in triathlon. We hit on the 80/20 rule, track workouts, what happens when you skip progressions. When is going hard actually worth it? Topics: Base phase conversation starts at 12:00 Is Robbie going Vegan? How we eat Aerobic base importance You can never be in base phase too long Building endurance and skills What athletes tend to bypass Reverse periodization? Training for Sprints and Olympics When going hard is actually worth it Not anti track, but build so it matters Going slow to get fast It's all relative 80/20 or 90/10? There's no such thing as "bad" aerobic work Slow cooking your fitness The margin of error base vs. fitness You can't keep pushing the boundaries Is your approach injury prone? Training availability is the key Better safe than sorry Don't sacrifice the day for the week What if you're behind as the race nears? Sacrificing your health with one bad decisions Skipping progressions The body doesn't care Looking for an awesome coach this season? It's not about who's fastest, it's about who slows down the least. You need energy to be motivated and self-imposed stress sucks the life out of you. Today we talk about trending vs. tracking your training, banking sleep, and remembering to play like a kid. Also, the anxiety from attachment, looking at data from the wrong perspective and why getting slower isn't really a thing. Topics: One Common Vision Getting out of yourself Lost in our own thoughts How do we get from THERE to HERE? Remembering what it's like to be a kid Being in the moment with so many distractions Don't forget to have fun 15:00 Thinking and energy Scratching that itch Data in the wrong perspective Trending vs. tracking Anxiety and attachment Being compelled to compare Labeling as pass or fail Give yourself credit for doing it It's hard … 99% of people don't do this…… accumulated fatigue…. S1 Ep 345#345 - Don't Take This Sh*t For Granted
It's hard to always stay motivated yet easy to slip off the rails. And one of the biggest traps is comparing ourselves to others. The guys open up about intention and struggles in an effort to find the best ways to appreciate training as a process. You can never be "the old you" so embrace where you're going. Topics: Tough time of year Mike's training struggles That's why intention was so important Don't compare yourself to others Afraid we won't be able to dig deep How quickly we can lose it The power of honesty and openness Fast and slow are relative It's enough to know we're heading in the right direction Thrive to be in a process Drowning yourself in expectations Building on yesterday When accolades lead to complacency Do you really want to be a new you?
