The body of Margaret "Maggie" Sniegowski is found by a farmer, dumped along a central Indiana highway. Police say the teen had been dead for several days. At the time, however, no one knew who the girl was and it would be 20 years before the 17-year-old was identified, thanks to DNA technology. Boone County Coroner Justin Sparks said an autopsy ruled her cause of death as undetermined. Sheriff Mike Nielsen said there were indications Sniegowski may have been strangled. The focus now is to find who killed her. Five-year-old Ann Pham is the youngest of 10 children, but her family felt her so responsible that the parents allowed the girl to walk the few blocks to her kindergarten class alone. Ex-jailer Vicky White commits suicide as cops close in on her and fellow fugitive Casey White. Authorities tracked down the Alabama outlaws to a motel in Evansville, Indiana. The pair attempted to flee when they realized police had found them, which led to a chase. A newly released 911 call appears to contain the last words of Vicky White. As sirens screech in the background, a woman’s voice says, "Airbags are going off! Let’s get out and run! We never should have left the hotel." Dashcam video also reveals that when the vehicle rolled over, police could see that Vicky was holding a gun to her head. “She still has the gun in her hands,” one officer says in the video. “Finger’s on the trigger.” Vicky White was hospitalized and died hours later. Casey White was extradited back to Alabama, where he has been charged with MURDER. He is already facing capital murder charges in connection with the death of Connie Ridgeway in 2015. Multiple murders are linked to one man thanks to a young survivor. Sandra Sapaugh, kidnapped by William Reece, throws herself move a moving vehicle and is able to describe and identify her attacker. Reece was sentenced to prison after already serving 10 years for two previous rapes. Whiles in jail, Reece must conform to laws in his state that say his DNA must be uploaded to a database. That's when Reece is linked to another murder. In an effort to avoid the death penalty, Reece starts cooperating with police, offering to lead cops to the bodies of women missing for years. Ultimately four murders were confirmed at the hands of William Reece. The search for Oakley Carlson is still underway. The little girl has not been seen in over a year. Carlson is just 9 months old when she is placed with foster parents Jamie Jo and Erick Hiles. Over the next two years, the little girl becomes part of the family, but then November 2019, Washington's Department of Children Youth and Families (DCYF) reunites Carlson with her biological parents, Jordan Bowers and Andrew Carlson. 9 months later, Oakley is missing but no one knows. The last confirmed sighting of Oakley Carlson is in February 2021, but the little girl isn’t reported missing until December 2021... that’s when a fire damages the family’s home forcing them to temporarily relocate. A local school principal gets concerned after talking with one of Oakley’s siblings. There is a renewed push for DNA testing on the evidence in the JonBenet Ramsey murder case. Ramsey, 6, was reported missing by her mother the day after Christmas 1996. Patsy Ramsey reported finding a ransom note that demanded more than $118,000. John Ramsey discovered the girl’s body the same day in the basement of the family’s home in Boulder, Colorado. Investigators determined that JonBenet was strangled and had an 8.5-inch fracture to her skull. No one has been charged in connection with the killing. John Ramsey spoke at the CrimeCon 2022 convention in Las Vegas, where he called for an independent agency to test DNA from his daughter JonBenét Ramsey’s case. Ramsey said he wanted the independent agency to conduct the DNA analysis instead of the Boulder Police Department, whom Ramsey says botched the investigation. As Lori and Chad Daybell move closer to trial, Tammy Daybell's death is back in center stage. Tammy Daybell's death is initially ruled natural causes. The seemingly healthy 49-year-old is training to run a 4K race, but Chad Daybell reports that his wife is dead in the bed beside him one morning. The family refuses an autopsy, but as bodies seem to pile up around the newlywed family, Daybell's body is exhumed. Although authorities have not publicly released her cause of death, Tammy Daybell's children say she died of asphyxiation. Still, no suspect has been named in the death of Jared Bridegan. The 33-year-old Microsoft executive drops his twins off at the home of his ex-wife, Shanna Gardner-Fernandez. Bridegan is with his 2-year-daughter as he drives home. On their way home, Bridegan stops to remove a tire from the middle of the road. There's no room to drive around it. That's when the Microsoft executive is shot and killed by an unknown assailant. The little girl, Bexley, is reportedly in the car for several minutes as her father dies. Bridegan has been in lengthy custody and alimony disputes with his former wife and reportedly she has now hired a high-powered criminal defense attorney. The investigation continues. Bowen Turner's latest arrest for probation violation means he will now have to register as a sex offender. The South Carolina man accused of three rapes was arrested for disorderly conduct and given bail, but Turner denied bail on another charge stemming from a probation violation. Turner, 19, was arrested on Mother’s Day and after his arrest, he allegedly called a female jailer the "B-word" and tried to bite off the finger of another. This latest incident happens after a controversial sentence was handed down in April. Orangeburg County Court Judge Markley Dennis sentenced Turner to five years of probation as part of a plea for assaulting a woman in 2019. The charge was reduced from an earlier charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, even though the victim was willing to testify and it was the third sexual assault accusation against Turner in less than two years. Ankle monitoring logs show that Turner violated his previous bond dozens of times, visiting golf courses, restaurants, shopping centers and even going out of state. At his court appearance attorney Jason Turnblad o asked Judge Roger Young to take into consideration Turner's "young age [and] his lack of a prior record before pleading to these charges." Turner also admitted to having an "alcohol problem" that he would like to address through rehabilitation. The judge ruled however that Turner knew the rules of his probation. A Michigan mother with a history of driving violations is charged after her three children die when Letitica Marie Gonzales crashes her SUV into an icy pond. The Gonzales boys, all under age 5, drowned after being trapped upside down in their car seats, underwater. Gonzales was impaired at the time, under the influence of a synthetic opioid. The 30-year-old was charged this week with three counts of driving while intoxicated resulting in death. Gonzales crossed into oncoming traffic, hit a curb, and rolled her Chevrolet Tahoe onto its roof in a Holland Township pond. Gonzales was able to get out of the SUV, but her three children drowned. Gonzales has pleaded guilty at least four times over the past 12 years to driving without a license; she also has pleaded guilty to obtaining controlled substances by false representation, according to a local newspaper. A motion filed by the prosecution in the Chad and Lori Daybell cases asks that DNA testing be performed on items found the Daybell property. Those items: a shovel, pickaxe, the duct tape that was surrounding JJ's body, and also DNA testing on JJ's fingernails. What's at issue is consumptive DNA testing, meaning, that when the testing is complete there is no more DNA for future tests. So, there is only one shot at it and that's the reason why the prosecution has waited this long to do it. Delia Owens' "Where the Crawdad's Sing," a fictional story about a murder in North Carolina, has sold more than 12 million copies and has spent 166 weeks on The New York Times best-seller list. However, Owens is linked to another murder. The author is wanted for questioning in Zambia about a deadly shooting in Africa in the 90s. During that time, Owens and her then-husband Mark ran a Zambian conservation center protecting elephants from poachers. In 1996, they were the subject of an ABC documentary where one scene shows an alleged poacher being fatally shot. Neither the victim nor the shooter is identified. The mystery was never solved. While Zambia authorities don't believe Delia was directly involved in the murder or the disposal of the body, authorities still want to talk to her about it. Kristin Smart, a 19-year-old student at California Polytechnic State University, disappears after attending a campus party. She is still missing more than 20 years later, but now the man accused of her murder stands trial. Paul Flores is charged with killing the college student during an attempted rape. His father, Ruben Flores is said to have helped bury the slain student behind his home. Paul Flores maintains his innocence. Murder charges were filed against South Carolina attorney Alex Murdaugh in the deaths of his wife and son. Maggie and Paul Murdaugh were found fatally shot at their family’s 1,770-acre lodge in Colleton County. Alex Murdaugh claims that he was visiting his mother in Varnville, 20 minutes away. A bond hearing is slated for Wednesday, where Murdaugh will find out if he will be granted bond or not. Also still to be announced is whether or not the state will be seeking the death penalty in this case. As it stands now, the newly released indictment does not say if prosecutors believe that Murdaugh pulled the triggers himself, but law enforcement sources say that high-velocity splatter on Alex Murdaugh's clothing places him at the murder scene. Virginia Judge Penney Azcarate denies Amber Heard’s request have her defamation trial deemed a mistrial on the grounds that the court seated the wrong juror. Amber Heard’s legal team claims a person not called to jury duty was inadvertently seated on the jury for Johnny Depp's defamation lawsuit. At issue is juror number 15. Heard's legal team says a 52-year-old man responded to a jury summons and was seated on the jury, but the summons was for a 77-year-old man with the same last name living at the same address. Judge Azcarate wrote “there is no evidence of fraud or wrongdoing” during the six-week civil trial, according to Fox News. Azcarate said the summons listed the juror’s legal name but not a birthdate. Chrissy Powell has not been seen nor heard from since July 5th. That morning Powell is running late to work. South Carolina attorney Alex Murdaugh may soon face murder charges in the death of his wife and son. According to FITS News, South Carolina's State Law Enforcement Division will present its case to a Grand Jury on Thursday. Murdaugh is already facing dozens of charges concerning financial fraud. On June 7, 2021, Maggie and Paul were found fatally shot at their family’s 1,770-acre lodge in Colleton County. Alex Murdaugh claims that he was visiting his mother in Varnville, 20 minutes from where his wife and son were killed. Months after the double homicide, Murdaugh was arrested for allegedly stealing $4.3 million from the estate of Gloria Satterfield. The Murdaughs' former housekeeper suffered a fatal fall at their Murdaughs' home on his property in February 2018. Alex Murdaugh is accused of stealing insurance payouts that were intended for Satterfield’s family. Murdaugh has currently been charged with 74 counts, accused of stealing money from a slew of clients and his former law firm. Murdaugh has also been disbarred. A family vacation to Bali turns deadly. Sheila von Wiese-Mack is found bludgeoned to death inside a suitcase. The socialite's 25-year-old daughter Heather Mack and her 21-year-old then-boyfriend, Tommy Schaefer are charged and convicted by an Indonesian court. Police say Schaefer bludgeoned von Wiese-Mack with a bowl and then he and Mack stuffed her body into a suitcase and attempted to flee the scene. Heather Mack was pregnant at the time and gave birth to a daughter in prison. When she turned two, she was placed with a foster family in Bali. Now, Mack is back in prison this time in Illinois. Mack said she was nervous about returning to the States, and what could happen to her daughter, once she is exposed to the media attention surrounding her mother. Atlanta lawyer Claud “Tex” McIver's murder conviction has been overturned by the Georgia Supreme Court. McIver was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison for the shooting death of his wife. The court ruled unanimously that the jury should have been allowed to consider a lesser charge — involuntary manslaughter. Diane McIver died after being shot in the back. A family friend was driving Diane and Tex McIver back to Atlanta from the McIvers’ 84-acre ranch in Putnam County. Diane McIver was in the passenger seat. Tex McIver was in the backseat. As they arrived in the city, McIver reportedly asked for his .38 caliber revolver from the center console — according to one statement because they had driven up on a Black Lives Matter protest, while in another statement he said it was for protection against homeless people. McIver fell asleep in the back seat, with the gun in his lap in a plastic bag. According to testimony, as they pulled up to a traffic light on Piedmont Avenue, Diane McIver, 64, told her husband to wake up and not fall asleep. Tex McIver fired one shot, which went through the seat and struck his wife in the back. The Supreme Court ruling noted McIver’s contention that he was startled awake by his wife and inadvertently pulled the trigger because of it. The high court upheld a second conviction for influencing a witness, for which McIver, a well-connected Republican attorney known for union-busting, was sentenced to five years in prison. He has now served four years and 10 months. Kaylee Jones, 16, has been missing from her Georgia home for over two weeks. On the night of June 14th, Daniel and Brenda Jones told their daughter good night, but in the morning she was gone. Detectives believe Jones may have met up with someone she has spoken to online. Jones' mother says the parents had taken the girl's phone, but she still had access to a laptop and in looking at her online activity they found Kaylee Jones had been using an app to talk to at least four men online. Police say Jones does not currently have a cell phone or any other electronic device on her. The missing teen is described as being 5-feet-8-inches tall, weighing about 135 pounds. Police say Monday's holiday mass shooting had been planned for weeks. Seven people died and dozens were injured as Robert Crimo III fired as many as 70 rounds into the crowd from a Highland Park rooftop. The shooter accessed the roof via a fire escape ladder, then fled the scene wearing women’s clothing. An AR-15-type weapon was used n the assault, but police say Crimo bought the rifle used in the deadly shooting legally — along with four other firearms. Kaitlin Armstrong, accused of murdering elite gravel cyclist Moriah Wilson, has been captured. Armstrong was found with the help of Costa Rican authorities, who deported the yoga instructor after Armstrong entered the country on a fraudulent passport. Armstrong was reportedly in possession of her sister's passport. U.S. Marshals say Armstrong was staying at a Santa Teresa beachside hostel, an area where yoga enthusiasts and surfers frequent. Armstrong also reportedly had a receipt on her for plastic surgery. Armstrong had also cut and dyed her hair.
