Scripture: Colossians 3:1-4; 2:3; I John 4:15; John 17; Psalm 83:3 Topic: Assurance Notes: - Man was designed to trust God; after sin entered, man began to rely on feelings first, doubting the facts- Sin is processing your life through your senses- Our first reaction to a problem is to try something; should be to trust something- Feelings are the most sinful thing, the most unreliable factor in human existence- God does not react to feelings; He is moved by faith- Salvation is not a feeling; we’re saved by grace through faith- Regardless of feeling we must believe we are saved- Feelings have nothing to do with your relationship with God- God sent the savior, then gave you the power and faith to go to Him- Every gift from God is eternal; salvation is eternal- We are the Father’s gift to the Son; the Son is the Father’s gift to us- We can never change who our parents are; your heritage is in your blood/DNA- We are hidden in Christ and Christ in the Father

110828-1800-Loran Livingston - Our Faith Is Small

2011-08-28-1800 Pastor Loran Livingston is the speaker this evening August 28th, 2011 in the 6:00 service. Scripture:I Topic: Prayer Notes: - We ask for small things; God delights in giving to His children- If we ask in faith, we can expect God to do something- We become more enchanted with the written than the Living Word; - More intellectual than spiritual; obsessed with the future while wasting the present- I want to finish my years pastoring as I started, on my face and caring for the flock- Are we limiting God? We know with our minds, but our hearts can go beyond anything our minds can imagine; guard your heart- Israel limited God... comfortable with what God had already done, but not with what he could do, never expecting a miracle- We ought to be asking for what sounds preposterous- We pray for what we think we need; God knows what we really need and wants to bless us with His goodness- We ask God for childish things and then run on; we need to wait on God- Praying & studying is a means to a relationship with God, but can get in the way- Until we wait patiently we will never know the secrets He has in store...

2011-08-28-1030 Pastor Loran Livingston is the speaker this morning August 28th 2011 in the 10:30 service. Scripture: I John 1:8-10; 2:1-2 Topic: Sin Notes: - Sin is why Christ died; man disobeyed God, trying to draw life from something other than God and man’s spirit died- Emotions and feelings now control man; the human race is confused & twisted- On the cross God reconciled man to God; we are new creations, living by the Spirit and in the sanctifying process- Eternal salvation: He started it and He will finish it; your condemnation is removed forever but temptation remains- Example: hurricane Irene... power and dominion (of sin) gone but influence remains- Temptation is a proof that I am saved; it’s not my fault that I’m tempted but I have the power to not give in- Some think they don’t sin... thinking of sins of commission (obvious sins), but sins of omission remain, not doing the good we know to do- Not praying for our President and other authoritative leaders is a sin of omission- When you sin, don’t stare at it; it came out of your heart but don’t grieve too long over it; run to Jesus- The enemy wants to keep you from God’s forgiveness as long as possible; the longer you wait, the longer your relationship with Jesus will be disrupted and disturbed

2011-08-21-1800 Pastor Loran Livingston is the speaker this evening August 21st, 2011 in the 6:00 service. Scripture:I Chronicles 16:8-10; Hebrews 10:19-23; 13:5-6; Matthew 18:18-20 Topic: Prayer Notes: - Prayer is the most powerful thing we can do on this earth, a connection to the supernatural that always makes something happen- “If you ask anything in my name I will do it”... the integrity of God is at stake- When we pray we have little expectation for a result; we pray out of Christian obligation... our faith decreases and there is no joy when we pray- We ought to rejoice because we get to seek the Lord God answers prayer- We don’t talk enough about what God has done in our lives- Sometimes we get so fascinated with the written word that we miss the relationship with the Living Word; the written word points us to the Living Word; the Living Word makes the written word come alive- You don’t deserve what God has given you but He gave it to you by grace and expects you to walk in with boldness in the authority of the shed blood of Christ- Be content with what you have- What you bind/loose on earth is bound/loosed in heaven- When two agree it will be done; when two or three gather I am in their midst

Scripture: Philippians 2:12-14; Ephesians 2; Mark 7:15-23; I Peter 3:1-4, 7 Topic: Salvation Notes: - A sinner is a prisoner born in prison; has never known freedom; controlled by Satan- Unless the spirit of God invades, you will never be released- No human has ever been free; there is no such thing as free will; you always choose within the confines of what controls you- When Jesus sets you free you become His slave; either working for God or the devil- When first saved, you still think like a prisoner... you think God is interested in visible sins, then start comparing yourself to others which always lowers God’s standard... eventually we see it’s about the condition of the heart- Husbands and wives don’t preach to one another. Wives submit; husbands honor...- We have trouble leaving people alone and letting God work it out- Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling

Scripture:Matthew 7:1-5; I Corinthians 4:1-5 Topic: Prayer Notes: - Prayer is the most powerful and accessible thing we can do on earth- Prayer is not just a means to get something; it is a means to know God- God is concerned about changing things in you, not around you; prayer helps us see things in us that are not like God- What hinders prayer: unbelief, sin, a man disrespect his wife... how we treat people- You cannot be any closer to God than you are to your wife- God honors obedience- Judge not lest you be judged...- Story: man on subway with two children out of control... you don’t know what is going on in people’s lives- We don’t even understand our own heart- The more broken we are, the less critical we’ll be; the more filled with the spirit, the more compassion we have- The merciful will obtain mercy- I don’t have anything to defend... I have done what I’m accused of in some way- We are here by the grace of God, accepted through Jesus Christ- Christians think they are to be the enforcers... but should be the examples- The only thing that matters in this world is people- Story: a pastor in a doughnut shop buys a b-day cake for a woman...

Scripture: Ephesians 3:14-19; Lamentations 3:19-23 Topic: Assurance Notes: - We must be solidly planted in the love of God- God’s love is everlasting and unconditional- Isaiah said “woe is me”... as we discover we are not what we want to be... we must understand we are saved and God is working things out of us... it is painful- If you don’t have a parallel revelation of the love of God, you’ll be a hopeless person- Paul addressed himself first as least of the apostles, then least of the saints, then chief of sinners; personal evaluation of self will not improve but your love and appreciation for what He did for you will- When we get weary we are vulnerable to the attacks of the devil- We couldn’t love Him; He loved us first- He forgives and will love you, build you up, bless, protect and provide for you- We are saved by grace and kept by the power of the Holy Spirit- The prodigal son was forgiven before he even spoke his repentance- Spiritual assault like never before... every past sin brought back... remorse, guilt and fear... compulsion to repent until I almost lost my mind... this did not come from God- Satan lies about the nature of God: says you are not forgiven, that you will never be free, that you must try harder, that you’ve blasphemed the Holy Spirit, and that God has lost patience with you- God is not a punisher; He chastens us to pull us back to Him as His child- What was begun in the spirit cannot be completed in the flesh- A blasphemer does not want God

Scripture: I Kings 18 Topic: Prayer Notes: - Elijah on Mount Carmel faced 450 prophets of Baal... built an altar to God and they an altar to their gods.- If God is God then serve Him; if Baal is god then serve him- Elijah prayed and God answered by fire- God want to answer when we pray; why are our prayers so many and answers so few?- If we are truly where we need to be with God, doing what we are to be doing, shouldn’t we expect God to move when we pray?- If the altar needs repair then nothing else works; if it isn’t cared for it will deteriorate- Maintain the altar of the Lord on a daily basis or there will be no answer- We must remember who we are in Him, gather the people, repair the altar, make time to pray... it must be the #1 priority in my life.
