2011-08-28-1030 Pastor Loran Livingston is the speaker this morning August 28th 2011 in the 10:30 service. Scripture: I John 1:8-10; 2:1-2 Topic: Sin Notes: - Sin is why Christ died; man disobeyed God, trying to draw life from something other than God and man’s spirit died- Emotions and feelings now control man; the human race is confused & twisted- On the cross God reconciled man to God; we are new creations, living by the Spirit and in the sanctifying process- Eternal salvation: He started it and He will finish it; your condemnation is removed forever but temptation remains- Example: hurricane Irene... power and dominion (of sin) gone but influence remains- Temptation is a proof that I am saved; it’s not my fault that I’m tempted but I have the power to not give in- Some think they don’t sin... thinking of sins of commission (obvious sins), but sins of omission remain, not doing the good we know to do- Not praying for our President and other authoritative leaders is a sin of omission- When you sin, don’t stare at it; it came out of your heart but don’t grieve too long over it; run to Jesus- The enemy wants to keep you from God’s forgiveness as long as possible; the longer you wait, the longer your relationship with Jesus will be disrupted and disturbed

110821-1800-Loran Livingston - Pray With Purpose

2011-08-21-1800 Pastor Loran Livingston is the speaker this evening August 21st, 2011 in the 6:00 service. Scripture:I Chronicles 16:8-10; Hebrews 10:19-23; 13:5-6; Matthew 18:18-20 Topic: Prayer Notes: - Prayer is the most powerful thing we can do on this earth, a connection to the supernatural that always makes something happen- “If you ask anything in my name I will do it”... the integrity of God is at stake- When we pray we have little expectation for a result; we pray out of Christian obligation... our faith decreases and there is no joy when we pray- We ought to rejoice because we get to seek the Lord God answers prayer- We don’t talk enough about what God has done in our lives- Sometimes we get so fascinated with the written word that we miss the relationship with the Living Word; the written word points us to the Living Word; the Living Word makes the written word come alive- You don’t deserve what God has given you but He gave it to you by grace and expects you to walk in with boldness in the authority of the shed blood of Christ- Be content with what you have- What you bind/loose on earth is bound/loosed in heaven- When two agree it will be done; when two or three gather I am in their midst

Scripture: John 8:56-59; 16:24; I Corinthians 1:30-31; Micah 7:18-20 Topic: God the Father Notes: - There is no limit to what God can do; “Before Abraham was, I AM”- God will not let you define who he is- Jehovah means “I AM”- The ever present one; eternity has nothing to do with time; God doesn’t deal in the past; God is the eternal present- Where there is sorrow, misery, heartache, suffering, confusion... there is Jesus- God longs to help us; He is waiting on the invitation- I AM that I AM... nothing breaks that eternal circle except human need; He becomes whatever you need- Because of God you are in Christ Jesus; God made Jesus to become sin so that we could be righteous- Man wants to take credit for his salvation; Glory only in God- It pleased the Lord for us to ask Him for things- God is not surprised by your sin; some have committed such sin that they don’t know where they are with God... God understands; as long as you call on the name of the Lord, there is cleansing- It’s not about feeling anything but about trusting what He said

Scripture: Philippians 2:12-14; Ephesians 2; Mark 7:15-23; I Peter 3:1-4, 7 Topic: Salvation Notes: - A sinner is a prisoner born in prison; has never known freedom; controlled by Satan- Unless the spirit of God invades, you will never be released- No human has ever been free; there is no such thing as free will; you always choose within the confines of what controls you- When Jesus sets you free you become His slave; either working for God or the devil- When first saved, you still think like a prisoner... you think God is interested in visible sins, then start comparing yourself to others which always lowers God’s standard... eventually we see it’s about the condition of the heart- Husbands and wives don’t preach to one another. Wives submit; husbands honor...- We have trouble leaving people alone and letting God work it out- Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling

Scripture:Matthew 7:1-5; I Corinthians 4:1-5 Topic: Prayer Notes: - Prayer is the most powerful and accessible thing we can do on earth- Prayer is not just a means to get something; it is a means to know God- God is concerned about changing things in you, not around you; prayer helps us see things in us that are not like God- What hinders prayer: unbelief, sin, a man disrespect his wife... how we treat people- You cannot be any closer to God than you are to your wife- God honors obedience- Judge not lest you be judged...- Story: man on subway with two children out of control... you don’t know what is going on in people’s lives- We don’t even understand our own heart- The more broken we are, the less critical we’ll be; the more filled with the spirit, the more compassion we have- The merciful will obtain mercy- I don’t have anything to defend... I have done what I’m accused of in some way- We are here by the grace of God, accepted through Jesus Christ- Christians think they are to be the enforcers... but should be the examples- The only thing that matters in this world is people- Story: a pastor in a doughnut shop buys a b-day cake for a woman...

Scripture:Philippians 1:29; II Thessalonians 1:4-5; I Peter 4:12-14; Isaiah 51:1; I Kings 6:7; Romans 8:18 Topic: Suffering Notes: - Every Christian suffers- It is denial of the scripture to say that if people are really walking by faith they will not suffer- We do not see as God sees- Suffering granted to us by God is proof that we are God’s- God is sovereign- The devil only does what God gives him permission to do; the devil has become the means by which our faith is increased- Stone quarry... where stones are hewn out of rock; the father is cutting...- Press toward the mark- Sometimes we suffer that the glory of God might be manifest- Don’t waste your sufferings by complaining, quitting, running... praise Him for it... tell Him to make you a willing vessal

2011-07-17-1030 Pastor Loran Livingston is the speaker this morning Juy 17th 2011 in the 10:30 service. Scripture: Ephesians 3:14-19; Lamentations 3:19-23 Topic: Assurance Notes: - We must be solidly planted in the love of God- God’s love is everlasting and unconditional- Isaiah said “woe is me”... as we discover we are not what we want to be... we must understand we are saved and God is working things out of us... it is painful- If you don’t have a parallel revelation of the love of God, you’ll be a hopeless person- Paul addressed himself first as least of the apostles, then least of the saints, then chief of sinners; personal evaluation of self will not improve but your love and appreciation for what He did for you will- When we get weary we are vulnerable to the attacks of the devil- We couldn’t love Him; He loved us first- He forgives and will love you, build you up, bless, protect and provide for you- We are saved by grace and kept by the power of the Holy Spirit- The prodigal son was forgiven before he even spoke his repentance- Spiritual assault like never before... every past sin brought back... remorse, guilt and fear... compulsion to repent until I almost lost my mind... this did not come from God- Satan lies about the nature of God: says you are not forgiven, that you will never be free, that you must try harder, that you’ve blasphemed the Holy Spirit, and that God has lost patience with you- God is not a punisher; He chastens us to pull us back to Him as His child- What was begun in the spirit cannot be completed in the flesh- A blasphemer does not want God

Scripture: Hebrews 2:17-18; Mark 9:36; 10:46-52; Psalm 51:1-3 Topic: Mercy Notes: - God is merciful and full of compassion; we get judgmental towards people- People don’t know better; we didn’t either and Jesus had compassion on us- God saw people being bullied by the devil; we are helpless without God- You are not in control; we are either controlled by darkness or by light- God saw the helplessness of the people, like sheep without a shepherd- Blind Bartimaeus by the roadside begging- Sometimes we feel like Jesus is passing us by; He will not pass you by... He will not ignore your plea- We begin to live with sins that easily beset us; we get comfortable with them and they begin to hinder our prayers... we must examine ourselves- Don’t maximize sins either, thinking you’ve sinned such that you are hopless- We talk too much; need to lay our tongues on the altar- Maybe I don’t have enough compassion- Love your neighbor as yourself- We need new conviction about the junk we watch on TV... it will destroy desire for spiritual things and numb our sensitivity to right and wrong- God doesn’t want your sin to always be before you; forget those thing behind

Scripture: Luke 15:6-10 Topic: Celebration Notes: - The prodigal son’s real sin was that he was living without a relationship with his father; he valued only what he could get from his father- The same spirit that rose Jesus from the dead abides in you- Lay your burdens down and enjoy the party Jesus is throwing- Prodigal son left home to party... at first this is fun but it will destroy you; his father threw a better party on his return- Weddings... dancing with daughters... what’s wrong with dancing when we celebrate?- Christians are afraid to celebrate, that someone will see or talk about...- Other cultures celebrate; they don’t have the inhibitions we have- Celebration ought to be commonplace every time we get together- As a child asked “how come they have all the fun?” Answer: “they don’t have what we have.” But what do we have?- The world does not want what they see of us... we have to show that we have something they wish they had- You may be away from God drawing nearer, or near to God drawing away

I sometimes want to give up or do something else... then I give the message and the altars fill up...- God is able to do beyond us (the power of Jesus inside of)- Some of the greatest moves of God come from people who feel like they’ve failed, didn’t communicate....

2011-05-29-1030 Pastor Loran Livingston is the speaker this morning May 29th 2011 in the 10:30 service. Scripture: Matthew 16:13-18; Romans 3:9-18; Psalm 103:10-14 Topic: Jesus the Son Notes: - The root cause of our world’s trouble is sin. One solution: Jesus- How we should view unsaved: under domination of Satan, sick, crippled, blind, dead, wicked, angry... they can only act out their condition- For the church to hate sinners is to miss the heart of Jesus- We know we are the body of Christ when we cry about the condition of sinners and long to help them come to the saving knowledge of Jesus- When saved you have been drawn by the spirit and a process begins- Now you have another enemy who is focused on your demise- None have sought after God... He chose you... “follow me”- We’re trying to get people to follow the church... instead we must create an interest in Jesus by the way we live- Go where they are... they aren’t coming where you are- Know what you believe of Him, not what someone else says they believe- We’re trying to get people to come to Jesus, not straighten them out- We’re trying to figure who is in and who is out... it’s not our business- People don’t get fixed perfectly right away- He has not dealt with us according to our sins

Scripture: II Corinthians 4:16-18; Isaiah 54:17 Topic: Victory Notes: - Do not invest in the temporary; invest in the eternal- If you want to be victorious think on God things- Don’t lose heart... our light affliction is temporary. He’s helping me carry it- What I’m going through now is producing an eternal weight of glory- Looking at temporary things keeps you stirred up, worried, mad, burdened...- You feed yourself with the news... conservative doesn’t mean Christian- I’m not interested in political party; we are supposed to be Christians- Christians will spread light, tell the truth, love enemies, have compassion for sinners, feed the hungry, build a house for the homeless... reach out beyond yourself- Look at things that are not seen; Elisha’s servant saw they were surrounded by the Syrians... Elisha prayed “God, open their eyes...they are looking at what is seen”- Those who are for you far outnumber those who are against you

Scripture: Matthew 11:28-30; Exodus 14:5, 8-15 Topic: Forgiveness Notes: - Story of mother on death bed asking for forgiveness- Our sense of unworthiness, inability to forgive ourselves, desperately wondering if we’ll ever get our lives fixed... carrying a burden not intended by God- Come to Jesus and find rest- Jesus is meek. The fight must come out of you; stop trying to prove something... or to be right all the time. Be reliant on the Father- His yoke is easy (yoke not of oxen, but a stick for carrying buckets over the shoulders); if my yoke isn’t easy, whose yoke did I put on?- When I carry someone else’s yoke, there’s no rest in my soul, no peace in my life- God put the Israelites at the Red Sea; Pharaoh meant to recapture them- They went out with boldness, then fear overtook them (as they looked back)- God to Moses “Stop crying out and move forward.” You have to start moving forward before God will open up what hinders your progress- One of the heaviest burdens to carry is unforgiveness- Satan knows he cannot recapture you so he tries to control you- You may be a child of God under Satan’s control if you are unwilling to forgive- Forgiveness is the most powerful God-like action we can do- Great marriages, friendships, families are made up of great forgivers- Forgiveness always defeats Satan, brings victory, lightens burdens and brings rest

God is sovereign- Hagar, Joseph, Moses...situations seem unfair but were ordered by God- God knew David would sin but called him anyway- Disciples, Jesus, apostles after resurrection... all tortured. - Why does God allow His children to face what we face? To show us that in each situation He is full in control- We think our sin disqualifies us or that God only moves for us when we are faithful- The more we realize how rebellious we are, the more he pours blessing on us- I’ve walked in fear that I haven’t repented and am incapable...- Repentance is to take it to Jesus; we don’t have the ability to never sin again- He knows what you feel- God led Israel to the Red Sea, an impossible place, so they could see who He is- You don’t understand now but someday you will know- You will face no temptation that is not common to man

Scripture: Matthew 28:1-8; Acts 1:3 Topic: Resurrection Notes: - The resurrection of Jesus is not just some theory- Some say the body was stolen; if by disciples the truth would have come out by torture; if by His enemies they would have put it on display- Some say He was in a coma; if so how did he move the stone to get out- Evolution: not one fact to back it up, yet people embrace evolution while calling the resurrection a foolish theory- Jesus appeared to hundreds: Mary Magdalene, disciples, men on the road to Emmaus, Thomas, seven disciples fishing, 500 men worshipping, Stephen being stoned, Saul- Some did not recognize Him; unless He opens your eyes you never will- It is not our place to write anyone off; God never gave up on me- Jesus called us and will continue to use us; let God do the growing- God never deals with two people the same way (story of church people at bar)- If He calls you He will perfect you... for the rest of your life- If the resurrection is nothing more than a beautiful historical event, it is worthless- The resurrection is a present day active reality in my life- When you become a believer you become victorious for eternity- He conquered death; you will never die- God has kept me; I am already seated in a heavenly place

God took his sword and then his sandals; first impulse, then his ability to run and hide- We run off excited or in fear while we should stand still until God finishes talking- We have been impetuous, impulsive and have relied too little on prayer- We’ve pulled out the sword and used it when it should not have been used- We’ve run away afraid of what God was doing in our lives- ... we pay for it for the rest of our lives- Abraham, Sarah, Hagar... tried to do it on their own.
