130106-1030-Loran Livingston - Know Who You Worship

2013-01-06-1030 Pastor Loran Livingston is the speaker this morning January 6th 2013 in the 10:30 service.Scripture: John 4:21-26; Acts 17:22-23; 9:31; Isaiah 46:1, 7; I Corinthians 11:27-30; Psalm 66:18; Joshua 7:10-13Topic: RelationshipNotes:- It is possible to worship but not know who you are worshipping- It’s easy to make God what you want Him to be instead of who He really is- You cannot redefine God; you must know who God is, who you worship- You must worship because you are changed and set free- Many are involved but have never had a personal experience with Jesus Christ- People worship God ignorantly, also frivolously... some are weak and some have died because they’ve taken communion unworthily, bringing judgement on themselves- If you want the fullness of God, you must sacrifice something for Jesus- Whatever you sacrifice for God He will reward you greatly for- If we judge ourselves we will not be judged- Some worship fearlessly, with no holy fear of God- You will not receive comfort from the Holy Spirit if you do not fear God- Sometimes when prayers don’t get answered it could be that sin is in our hearts... He will not hear our prayers...- As long as we allow the accursed thing in our heart, God will not help us

2012-10-14-1030 Pastor Loran Livingston is the speaker this morning October 14th 2012 in the 10:30 service.Scripture: John 14:21-25; Luke 22:31-33; Psalm 139:23-24Topic: BondageNotes:- Why do we think we’re ready to do great things for God? Peter thought so because he had been exposed to Jesus and what He did, but he did not understand Jesus’ mission- An unteachable spirit always resists what the Spirit teaches- There are only God’s ways and wicked ways; we don’t know who we are- I need a deeper walk, an unmistakable encounter- There is a resistance in all of us; we have not yet arrived- The marks of an unteachable spirit: 1) when I say “unteachable spirit” you look at somebody else 2) you always have an excuse for your failures (if it failed, God was not in it) 3) you’re always aggravated with God 4) I’ve lived right, paid my dues... where is He? When you let go and let God, things change ... if they haven’t changed then you haven’t let go 5) won’t take advice... one bad decision after another- You can love the Lord’s work and His people and still have an unteachable spirit- When you come through this, you can help somebody else- When there is conflict in a marriage, somebody is unteachable

God will abide in you- Religion is man defining God; Jesus sets us free from religion so we can enjoy Him- Be perfect as the Father is perfect... David had a perfect heart... perfect is to continue, to walk in obedience; flaws, sins, stupidity are negated and finally removed- A person who mourns may just be sad; broken is more... humility, to get up and leave it behind, repair and forget it- The heart breaks in two ways... with sorrow, then with fresh hope- If Christ is in me, then my past cannot keep me from becoming what He requires- We do a lot of moaning; that is not the heart of God; get out there and do something- Don’t do anything from the standpoint of defeat but from victory; you are not trying to get victory; He has already given victory to you

Abraham, thief on cross...- In the garden, before the fall, they were happy with who they were, but man did not take God’s word seriously... woman entertained the question of God’s authority- The heart of sin is when I don’t believe God is looking out for my best interest and so I gotta look out for me... can’t trust His word- Sin always occurs in the heart before the hands- Man’s pain comes from man’s rebellion against the Word of God- 5 blunders: lack of trust in God’s Word, lack of clarity about God’s Word, lack of practical living in light of God’s Word, lack of urgent change because of God’s Word, lack of heeding God’s Word due to feeling of entitlement

I will not conquer it- One who is poor in spirit does not try to prove himself; we are nothing. Quit pretending and trying to impress. Recognize your flaws; you’re not fooling anyone.- Story of ice cream... same as any addiction, it controls you.- The poor in spirit are the least judgmental, compassionate.- Rest in your salvation; throw yourself at the mercy of the court- You get to heaven by trusting in the Lord with all your heart- Thief on cross, woman caught in adultery... no repentance but Jesus forgave- Woman who cried at Jesus feet and dried his feet with her hair... an approach to Jesus without pretense that cries “help me,” he never rejects- When you trust, you do not fear; there is no fear in love

Quit bring it up.- Enjoy right now. You’re not living on the edge, on probation. Don’t waste a moment. Every experience will never be duplicated- Nothing can separate you; you are the object of His faithfulness.

If someone needs help, prayer, when you act like Jesus and sit down with sinners... wherever the needy are and God has put you there...- Holiness is what God imparts to you when Jesus comes into your life; practical holiness is what’s making us lose our minds.- It’s hypocritical when divorced Christians stomp on and rail at gays- We categorize sins... even the lie we told or the thought violates the holiness of God

Scripture: John 20:19-23; 13:7 Topic: The Church Notes:- The church is the people... anyone who believes in Jesus- Jesus came to the Jews and was rejected; the Holy Spirit came to continue the work- The people Jesus chose as the foundation of the church were doubting people, not brilliant or dependable; the apostles were the foundation and Jesus the cornerstone- Righteousness is a gift from God that cannot be earned- You are saved by accepting the gift, not temporarily but eternally- Being filled with the spirit is not shouting, running and screaming... but peace... not animation... everyone reacts differently. He enables you to get up and keep going.- When others are trying to figure out where the feeling is, you can know where your faith is.- Learn to forgive or there will be no power in your prayer- When Jesus wasn’t with them, the disciples didn’t know what to do... they got discouraged as we do today... haven’t been to a good service in a while...- You don’t have to go anywhere in particular to find revival or power- We get discouraged by personal failure. The closer to God you move, the more aware of your sin you become- Jesus didn’t call them to fight for Him but to be faithful to Him- They forgot His teaching and the joy... joy is coming.

After we’ve failed and denied Him, He comes after us- The disciples didn’t trust themselves to be loyal- We worry about persevering. The uncertainty is part of the persevering- Not my strength but His. Persevere when you doubt yourself- Faith not in you but in Jesus

120805-0830-Loran Livingston - Persevere

2012-08-05-0830 Pastor Loran Livingston is the speaker this morning August 5th 2012 in the 8:30 service. Scripture: Revelation 3:10; I Thessalonians 1:10; 5:9; Romans 5:9; Mark 14:18-19 Topic: Faithfulness Notes:- Jesus has taken the wrath for us; there will be a catching away of the faithful- The world economy will never recover; crime rate is rising; persecution is on the rise; Islam is taking over; attack on the traditional family; growing intolerance of Christianity; compromise in the pulpit... the anger of God is going to be poured out- I am to be living soberly, righteously, godly, looking for Jesus to return- When the church gets on tangents that insinuate Jesus it loses its momentum and joy- Our joy is in the fact that God loves us... we cannot imagine heaven’s glory or Jesus before He became a man... what He gave up and what He became to save us- God is greater, has greater love, patience and grace than we’ve been told... After we’ve failed and denied Him, He comes after us- The disciples didn’t trust themselves to be loyal- We worry about persevering. The uncertainty is part of the persevering- Not my strength but His. Persevere when you doubt yourself
