Episode 392: The Action Movie of Action Movies!
Our name is Baconsale. Our world is fire and blood. Which is why we’ve decided to create a bracket to see which action/adventure movie is the greatest of them all. You submitted the adrenaline-fueled films for this tournament, and now it’s up to us to cut your heart out with a spoon as we say “Hasta la vista” to most of your favorite flicks. But Joel, Kent & Zack ain’t got time to bleed. They must go faster as they try to complete this competition in one shot. And even though we know some of our decisions will make you want to have your vengeance, in this life or the next, just know that there’s some good in this episode, listener, and it’s worth fighting for. Welcome to the party, pal! Press play, and we’ll show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. And visit Baconsale.com to print the official bracket for this action movie tournament.

Episode 391: 2023 Oscar Predictions
Well, it’s Oscar season…again. The Academy is trying really hard to get people interested this year by nominating some huge box office successes, but do popcorn flicks & comedies really have a chance of winning? We’re going to speculate on that while making predictions for each of the 23 award categories on this episode of Baconsale. And with Golden Corral on the line for the winner of these golden statue forecasts, the stakes have never been higher. Zack plays the odds again, Joel tries to keep us sad (and not mad), Kent has fun with puns, and Angela Basset does the thing. Will Elvis be king of the 95th Academy Awards? Will The Banshees of Inisherin make a lot of noise? Will it be All Quiet on the Western Front for epic war remakes? Will Everything Everywhere All At Once take it all? Press play to roll out the red carpet to your ears and find out. And visit Baconsale.com to fill out our official ballot for the 2023 Oscars for your chance to win one of two prize options.

Episode 390: This Show is Still Underrated!
We’re keeping things positive on this episode as we revisit a well from five years ago and, once again, discuss underrated things. Some of the categories mirror our last overrated episode (e.g., condiment & sitcom character), some are Baconsale staples (movie villain & video game hero), and other ones are completely random (doughnut & over-the-counter drug). Joel, Kent, and Zack have a little difficulty distinguishing underrated from dated, we’ve got some hot takes to offer, and we’ll do our best to keep things entertaining as we question and sometimes mock each other’s undervalued answers. Don’t take medical advice from Baconsale, but please press play!

Episode 389: Ranking Disneyland Rides (Classic Era)
To all who listen to this happy episode; welcome. Baconsale is your podcast. How do you do? Say it when you're meetin' Joel, Kent, and Zack. They’re going to tier 24 rides at Disneyland, going chronologically from opening day in 1955 to Indiana Jones in 1995. And it’s a small world after all, because these foolish mortals are joined by our friend Josh, a self-proclaimed Disneynerd. We’ve got a lot of magical memories comin’ down the track as we discuss our personal experiences with each ride at the park. We’ll also offer a peek at the backside of water as we share some interesting trivia about the attractions, expose Disney World snobbery, and showcase amazing Donald Duck impersonations. Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho! Then press play.

BaconBit: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Review
Now that the third installment of Ant-Man is beginning the fifth phase of the MCU, we’re going to review it during our second BaconBit of the ninth season of Baconsale. Zack isn’t here, unfortunately, but Kent & Joel are ready to share their thoughts about Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Kent has been a little bitter about Ant-Man since Edgar Wright left the project, and this series hasn’t been one of Joel’s favorites, either, but will they be the tiniest bit impressed by the Quantum Realm? Listen to find out. And don’t worry, the first part of this review is free of spoilers. Press play to discover who “he” is.

Episode 388: Bizarre Love Triangles
Will they? Won’t they? Yes, it looks like Baconsale is going to do an episode about love triangles. We’ve taken 14 of the most popular romances from film & TV to discuss whether the characters made the right decisions, if they should have chosen the one that got away, or if they should have ended up alone. There are going to be a few spoilers as we talk about older television shows and movies, but we hope you enjoy our arguments about age differences, our sentiments about stalkers, and our reactions to relationships. Prepare yourself for a lot of emotional gear shifting as we go from silly romantic comedies to dark dramas to sitcoms, but remember that the one constant in all this madness is love. Don’t be a puppy kicker. Press play!

Episode 387: Our Seven Favorite Albums
Listen, listener, it’s too difficult to decide what our top five favorite albums are, and a top 10 would just take too long. Therefore, on this episode of Baconsale, we’re each picking seven albums that we love. These aren’t songs that we put on shuffle, we enjoy these musical collections track by track, in the order they were intended to play. Kent is ready to showcase his hipster side, but he’s including some self-proclaimed bangers. Meanwhile, Zack & Joel are largely giving stage crew picks—Zack’s are in chronological order, and Joel’s are largely influenced by his sister. We hope you enjoy hearing our memories of music as much as we enjoyed sharing them. Press play to hear our sneaky honorable mentions. And go to Baconsale.com to see the Spotify playlist we created to showcase some of the songs from the albums we talked about on this episode.

BaconBit: 2023 Sundance Recap with Emily
Get those noses high in the air, listener, because we’re talking Sundance again. Our friend, Emily, is joining us to talk about the record number of movies she and Kent watched this year. And guess what? Almost 30% of them were good this season! Listen to Kent & Emily’s hive-mind thoughts as they talk to you about Talk to Me, relate the story of Flora and Son, reminisce about Past Lives, condemn Bad Behavior, and civilly discuss Polite Society. Press play to be the first people to hear this BaconBit about being the first people to see these films.

Episode 386: The Return of WWBD
It’s been a few years since we last asked, "What Would Baconsale Do?" However, we’ve decided to enter the realm of random mental insights again, this time with Zack at the helm. He’s going to ask Kent & Joel a series of questions about genies, aliens, shopping carts, and more. Zack is also going to present some serious moral quandaries, some of which were generated by artificial intelligence. We hope you enjoy this bizarre episode as we discuss Return of Jafar, the destruction of Portland, purring when we’re happy, losing fingers, knives & duct tape, and a handful of positive affirmations. Aunt Celery says press play!

Episode 385: 2023 Prediction Banquet
It’s not every day that we unleash our powers of prognostication on our listener, it’s just usually on the second show of every season. So on this episode of Baconsale, we’re looking at the upcoming year and getting a little catty. We’ll be making predictions about celebrity comebacks & break-ups, pop culture drama, sports forecasts, the rule of threes, movies releasing this year, and more. Since we’ve been doing this type of show for a while now, we occasionally will copy each other’s former answers (as well as our own). But we hope you enjoy hearing us giggle at sports names, berate those who go back to the well, and switch places in our opinions. Watch out for Ezra Miller in 2023, and press play to hear silent agreement.

Episode 384: Best & Worst Movies of 2022-ish
As our ninth season of Baconsale begins, we realize very quickly that it’s a good thing we’re pop culture podcasters and not math teachers. We’re looking back at the movies we watched this past year and ranking our five least favorite films, followed by our five favorites. Joel is going after cult classics this time, and it’s his own fault he chose the truly rotten ones. Kent keeps his choices limited to movies released in 2022, and manages to find a few golden hipster nuggets amidst the cape flicks and wasteland that was last year in cinema. And Zack is there to judge each of our picks along the way. Press play to decide which Skarsgård is the best Skarsgård.

Episode 383: The Season Eight Escape
Joel, Kent, and Zack are going to do another category show all about Baconsale because the season has come to an end. Things start off with a thousand voices & a single dream, followed by a discussion of our favorite moments, strange topics, what surprised us, our biggest accomplishments, and more. Kent cheats a little on his categories this year, while Joel forgot that he could do that. And Zack gives a not-so-subtle hint about what kind of show he’d like to do in the future. Yes, this episode involves a lot of back-patting (which makes us feel a little awkward at times), but it’s an entertaining walk down memory lane, along with slight mockery and a few guilt trips. Let’s get it started! Press play.

Episode 382: A Christmash Carol
Marley was dead: to begin with. Dead as a door-nail. This must be distinctly understood, or nothing wonderful can come of the Baconsale episode we are going to relate. Joel, Kent, and Zack have watched every film adaptation of Charles Dickens’ novella, A Christmas Carol, and we’re going to build our own version of Ebenezer Scrooge’s story using the tried-and-true method of M.A.S.H. As we do so, we’ll also share our thoughts on the acting, the storytelling, the sets, the costumes, the visual effects, and the music of each version we saw. And we’ll pick our favorite and least favorite movies. Will the Christmas spirits be kind to us? Or will we wear the chains we formed in life, link by link, and yard by yard? Don’t say “Bah! Humbug!” Come in! Press play! And know us better, man!

Episode 381: The 12 Tiers of Christmas
On the first show of December, our podcast gave to you, a random holiday-themed ranking episode. We’ve decided to take a Baconsale-style look at the presents given during The Twelve Days of Christmas and see if they’re something that anyone would actually want. After we discuss the history of the song and how much these gifts would cost, we’ll then tier each present according to what we’d cherish forever, what we might enjoy once, and what we’d regift or just throw away. Joel gets a little greedy for gold, people never stop dancing at Kent’s apartment in New York, and watch out for the Zack Attack at the end! It’s a killer! It doesn’t matter if you’re a drummer, a piper, a lord, a lady, a milkmaid, a swan, a goose, a ring, a blackbird, a hen, a dove, or a partridge, press play!

Episode 380: Vacation, All We Ever Wanted
Pack your bags, listener! We’re taking a trip down memory lane! On this episode of Baconsale, Kent, Joel, and Zack are going to be discussing our favorite (and least favorite) vacations. And since it’s always more fun to travel with friends, we’ve invited Rocky & Steph (Stephanie & Rock?) to join us as we pick answers for each of our seven categories, which include Best Scenic Drive, Most Regularly Visited Destination, and Trip You’d Like Do Again. Along the way, we’ll make some basic & boujee choices, we’ll discover who enjoys plaque reading, and we’ll teach you the benefits of Neosporin. Press play to get a stamp in your podcast passport, Baconites!

Episode 379: The Worst Song of Songs! (Tournament Finals)
Hey, Soul Sister! We’re over the (My) Humps and finishing our terrible song tournament on this episode of Baconsale. Joel, Kent, and Zack may not be Happy with the awful tunes they must move forward, because they have to Play It Again, and there are Blurred Lines with some of their reasoning, but the urge to crown a “winner” is Simply Irresistible. Will Zack’s choices make you Blue (Da Ba Dee)? Will Kent be able to remember what he said previously Before He Cheats on his logic? Is Cotton Eye Joe(l) wearing Christmas Shoes? Listen to find out (and to learn what The Fox says). Don’t be Rude! Press play to take a mental Photograph of our musical anguish. Download & print the advanced Worst Song of Songs bracket at Baconsale.com!

Episode 378: The Worst Song of Songs Tournament
Last Christmas (or rather last March), Baconsale picked the ultimate Song of Songs. And now, even though No One was really asking for it, we’re beginning our quest to find the least Perfect song. We asked our listener (including all the Single Ladies), to submit their terrible tunes, and we’ve put those disagreeable ditties in a bracket. Why? This is How We Roll. Joel, Kent, and Zack have accepted your choices With Arms Wide Open, and then they’ll make Chop Suey of 32 songs that they don’t think deserve to win. And while we may not understand The Reason some of you made the picks you did, we won’t give you the Run-Around for long, because we’ll finish this tournament on the next episode. Don’t Worry Be Happy, and press play if you Believe in life after love. Download & print the official Worst Song of Songs bracket and find our official Spotify playlist at Baconsale.com to play along at home!

BaconBit: Wakanda Forever Review
It’s been four years since the first standalone Black Panther movie. A lot of events within the Marvel Cinematic Universe have occurred since then, as well as the tragic, real-life passing of Chadwick Boseman, but is this sequel a fitting finish to Phase Four? Or is this two-hour-and-forty-one-minute movie going to be a drain on our mental resources? Joel and Kent are going to start this review on their own, since they saw the movie together, and Zack will join us as soon as we start spoiling the movie (about 18 minutes in). However, we’ll keep our thoughts spoiler-free before then. Take your mask off and press play to hear about the Na'vi suffering bloodless deaths via vibranium.

Episode 377: Silent Movie Sampler Platter
Lights! Camera! Silence! On this episode of Baconsale, Joel is showing his age. He’s brought a selection of silent films to the table in hopes that Zack and Kent have (finally) watched them and are ready to review all ten. Some of these movies are over 100 years old, yet Joel feels they still have something to offer modern audiences. While Zack is concerned about the content of these pre-Production Code motion pictures, so he’s going to let parents know what to expect. Will Charlie Chaplin make us chuckle? Does Buster Keaton have us busting a gut? Is Metropolis still mesmerizing? Listen to our fully audio podcast to find out. Press play because Guillermo del Toro says this is his favorite episode.

Episode 376: Spooky Scary Story Time
Once again, we handed the keys to the asylum over to the patients and let you, the listener, take over this Baconsale Halloween episode. We asked for more of your terrifying true stories as well as frightening fictional tales, and you certainly delivered. Joel, Kent, and Zack are going to take turns reading your spooky submissions… along with some slight mockery (Hey! It’s what we do!). We’ll do our best to keep the mood scary, though, as we share stories about hairy creatures, car creepers, gray ghosts, unwanted hitchhikers, raspy breathing, haunting acronyms, ALARMING ALL CAPS, and spine-chilling sk-el-el-letons! Press play to hear Joel do eerily accurate impressions of Kent, Zack, and Jacob.

Episode 375: Haunted Artifact & Fiction
Since we talked about haunted places last year, Baconsale has decided to round out the ghostly nouns on this episode and talk about haunted things & people. We’ll be discussing diabolic dolls, chatting about cursed canvases, and babbling about blighted bunk beds. Despite the darker subject material, Joel, Kent, and Zack are going to do their best to keep things light & fluffy, and not focus on the fact that possession is nine-tenths of the law. We’ll also be examining 35 movies related to this spooky subject and giving some of them (slight) Baconsale approval! Join us! Put down that haunted spoon and press play!

BaconBit: Black Adam Review
It’s finally here! The movie that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been promoting for the past decade or so! Black Adam has Shazam-ed into theaters, and Baconsale is ready to review it. Kent, the DC-loving cynic, has been a little down on the Extended Universe lately, but will this Warner Bros. Picture light the spark of hope in his chest once again? Or will his darker, pessimistic side be the reigning champion and influence Joel and Zack? Even if you haven’t seen the film yet, you can still listen to the spoiler-free first part of this BaconBit to find out our thoughts on Black Adam. Press play to search for eternium/vibranium in the mines Kahndaq/Wakanda.

Episode 374: Freaky Friday the 13th
In the summer of 1957, a young boy named Jason Voorhees drowned at Camp Crystal Lake in New Jersey. Since that tragic event, a string of murders has occurred in or around the campground, causing some to wonder if the area is cursed or even haunted by a masked, vengeful ghoul. This is the true story of Camp Blood… Okay, so this is actually the plot of a highly successful horror film franchise called Friday the 13th. However, we are going to talk about it as if it were a true crime story for the first part of this episode of Baconsale. After we take off that mask, we’ll chat about the background of these films and use our combined scores to rank all twelve movies. Also, please note that while Joel will try to keep Kent’s descriptions of the killings as family friendly as possible, things do tend to get a little grisly when it comes to discussing slasher flicks. Press-press-press! Play-play-play!

Episode 373: More Haunts Around the World
Paranormal investigator Beaker is back on Baconsale! Once again, he’s brought a list of 13 alarming areas & petrifying places from around the world, and it’s up to us to decide if we’d be willing to spend the night there by ourselves. Will we laugh at the ha-ha walls surrounding the Aradale Mental Hospital in Australia? Will the ghosts of Gettysburg be our confederates? Will we lose our nerve in the Bermuda Triangle of Romania? Will we be able to pronounce Lawang Sewu? All these questions and more will be answered as we test our tongues and our bravery in frightening foreign lands. Press play to see if the ghost dogs are good boys.

BaconBit: Hocus Pocus 2 Review
Oh, look. Another glorious BaconBit! Thirty years (minus one year) ago, a Disney movie about witches received mixed reviews from critics and didn’t do that well at the box office. However, since that time, it has become a beloved cult classic for many, leading to the long-delayed legasequel: Hocus Pocus 2. But do the Sanderson sisters possess the same magic they did decades ago? And will Joel, Kent, and Zack enjoy this sequel when none of them truly loved the original? We’ll start off this BaconBit with our spoiler-free reviews, but then we’ll break that spell and discuss the whole film without holding back. Itch-it-a-cop-it-a-mel-a-ka-mys-ti-ca… press play!

Episode 372: Our Halloween Party Playlist
We see a Bad Moon Rising, which must mean it’s finally October! And Heads Will Roll as Baconsale carefully crafts the perfect playlist for any Monster Mash. Joel, Kent, and Zack have done some Weird Science to select 31 spooky songs that they hope will turn a dance floor Ghost Town into a Thriller of a Dead Man’s Party. And while Kent may be a Psycho Killer of Halloween music, you can still Unleash Your Spirit and join us as we enter The Time Warp and take plenty of punch breaks. Dig through the ditches, burn through the witches, and press play. And you can find our official Halloween party playlist at Baconsale.com.

Episode 371: We Stream for Ice Cream
I scream, you scream, we all scream when Baconsale does a food challenge. Here’s the scoop: Joel, Kent, and Zack decided to take on the 31 flavors of Baskin-Robbins, only to discover that was just the beginning of our journey. We’ll first give the history of the world's largest chain of ice cream specialty stores and talk about our quest experiences. Then we’ll share our combined scores and reveal the bottom five and top five ice cream flavors. Listen as we tank each other’s ratings, offer some coffee confessions, and tell the tale of how one of us faced frozen death in the face and lived to talk about it. Find an ice cream buddy and press play!

Episode 370: The Fellowship of The Lord of the Rings
It's a dangerous business, listener, discussing The Lord of the Rings. You step into this subject and, if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to. Nevertheless, we’re visiting Middle-earth once again, but this time we’re bringing a guest. Our friend Glo is joining us for this fantastical adventure where we’ll be picking answers for categories such as Best Battle, Creepiest Creature, Coolest Set Piece, Favorite Character, and Most Emotional Moment. We’re going to get a little geeky as we journey through the films & books, and we’ll expose Zack’s love for Aragorn, Kent & Glo’s opposing views of Samwise, and Joel’s hidden desire for darkness. The beacons are lit! Baconsale calls for aid. Will you answer by pressing play?

Episode 369: Keeping It Casual (Dining)
Steak. Seafood. Salad. Tiering. On this episode of Baconsale, we’re ranking 24 casual dining restaurants, giving their backstories, and sharing our opinions on these enticing eateries. We’ll be discussing Denny’s, judging Johnny Rockets, reviewing Red Robin, observing Olive Garden, critiquing Chili’s, and more. Zack thinks each one of these restaurant chains is a version of Applebee’s. Kent enjoys eating adult chicken nuggets at Buffalo Wild Wings. And Joel is irate with IHOP for discontinuing the Rooty Tooty Fresh 'N Fruity. Press play. Because when you’re listening, you’re family.

BaconBit: Better Call Saul Review
It’s showtime, folks! Now that Zack has finished Better Call Saul—and we’ve given you some time to watch it, too—we finally can talk about this popular TV series and whether or not it raises the bar for spin-offs. We’ll start off this BaconBit spoiler-free and give our overall impressions of the show and the main characters, and then we’ll give you fair warning before we slip into spoilers. How does it compare to Breaking Bad? Are we satisfied with Jimmy’s transformation into Saul? Did we get confused with all the time jumps? Are we satisfied with how this series ended? And why do we keep making references to the 2008 movie Hancock? Press play to find out if it’s all good, man.

Episode 368: End of 2022 Movie Preview
Autumn is approaching, which means it’s time for Baconsale to look toward the near cinematic future and let you know which films are coming out before the end of the year. Our leap-year host Dan is back, since Zack is on paternity leave, and he’s going to join Joel & Kent in giving five upcoming movies we want to see flop, as well as five movies we’re looking forward to. As per usual, Kent’s invited guest tends to agree with him, but not as per usual, Joel doesn’t make a lot of mainstream picks. Listen as we agree on some choices, take some pot shots at Disney and, for some reason, make allusions to rides at Lagoon. Press play to fear Winnie the Pooh again.

Episode 367: Name that Film Score
We’ve talked about our favorite film scores before on Baconsale, but we’ve never really been tested on how well we know them. That’s why our friend Allison is joining us on this episode. She’s created a quiz featuring some of the greatest modern composers & epic movie soundtracks, and it’s up to Zack, Kent, and Joel to bring their A-game. And with a Skor bar on the line as the prize, the stakes have never been higher. Listen as Kent feigns ignorance, Joel gets some pity points, and Zack proves his Disney prowess. Press play to hear some instrumental intrigue.

Episode 366: Bad-to-School Outfits
The school year is starting again at Baconsale High, which means it’s time for Joel, Kent & Zack to go back-to-school shopping. However, the clothes we’re picking from are some of the most regrettable fashion choices in history—submitted by you. And our moms aren’t here to help us this time. We’re going to be assigned our outfits at random, using the tried & true M.A.S.H. method. Listen as we do our best to keep Zack honest, Joel confesses he has outfit blindness, and we’d remember Kent’s name if he just wore something more memorable. Press play to begin this farcical fashion show.

Episode 365: Battle of the Boy Bands
Everybody! (Yeeeaaah?) On this episode of Baconsale, we’re pitting the best vocal harmonies and choreographed dance moves against each other to see which boy band is the best of all! Step by Step, we’ll discuss the history of each group, recap their Dynamite hits and, One Way or Another, make a decision about who has come to the End of the Road. It might be easy as ABC for you, but The Hardest Thing for us is saying Bye Bye Bye to groups that had some great songs. Nevertheless, I Swear we’re going to finish this All or Nothing tournament in a single episode, No Matter What. Is This the End of this episode blurb? Yes. Now press play like Every Other Time. Download our official boy band bracket and find our official Spotify playlist at Baconsale.com so you can play along at home.

Episode 364: The Parents Guide Game 2
Since it already swept the nation once, Baconsale has decided to take a second swing at the Parents Guide Game! Kent, Joel, and Zack have each brought 10 secret movies to the table, and the only clues they are allowed to give each other come from the Parents Guide on the Internet Movie Database (IMDb). We invite you to play along and see if you can guess the answer before we can. You can even come up with ridiculous buzzers with backstories of your own. As a reminder, Baconsale is a family friendly podcast, but we will be discussing questionable parts of these films in a humorous manner on this episode, so parental discretion is somewhat advised, especially when we talk about Harry Potter. Press play to learn why Zack is happiness.

Episode 363: In Defense of Indiana Jones’ Crystal Skull
I've got a bad feeling about this. Baconsale is doing another episode where they have to defend something that is generally disliked, and this time it’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Indy’s fourth adventure isn’t looked upon as kindly as the original trilogy, but it’s up to Joel, Kent, and Zack to accentuate the positives in this movie (which came out before Mamma Mia) or else there will be whippings. We do allow ourselves a few breaks from staring into the hollow eyes of interdimensional beings in order to stay sane, otherwise we’re plowing ahead in this CG jungle of positivity. However, watch out for sharp bangs, swinging monkeys, goopy ants, Kent monologues, double-sided blow darts, cartoon prairie dogs, and selective magnetism. Press play to jump inside the lead-lined fridge with Baconsale.

Episode 362: Hangin’ with D.B. Cooper
Attention, listener, this episode about Northwest Orient Airlines Flight 305 is ready for departure. We’d like to draw your attention to one passenger in particular, in seat 18C, whose name is Dan Cooper (a.k.a. D.B. Cooper), one of the most famous plane hijackers in history. But what makes this mystery man so famous? And why has his story intrigued people across the globe for the past 50 years? Kent, Joel, and Zack are joined by Jake Swallow (a.k.a. Juice) to discuss the facts, review some suspects, make some Harry Potter references, and then give pitches for how the story could have ended. Press play to enter the Cooper Vortex with Baconsale.

Episode 361: Take a Chance on ABBA
Mamma Mia! Baconsale is finally doing an episode all about ABBA! We’re discussing this famous Swedish pop group The Way Old Friends Do. I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do believe we’ll give some history of the band, following which One of Us will share their top five and bottom five songs, along with the other two. And I Have a Dream that every Dancing Queen and Super Trouper out there will be saying Gimmie! Gimmie! Gimmie! by the end of this disco-charged discussion and not demanding your Money, Money, Money back. Press play to say Thank You for the Music, Björn, Benny, Agnetha & Frida! And take a trip to Baconsale.com to see our official ABBA Spotify playlist, which features the songs we discussed on this episode.

Episode 360: One-Hit Wonder Directors
Bands & musicians get all the glory when it comes to being one-hit wonders. But what about filmmakers? On this episode of Baconsale, we’re discussing directors that made one great movie…and then didn’t do much after that (or before that). This could be because none of their other works reached the level of success their hit movie did, or it could be because they didn’t actually make any other films. Regardless, Kent, Joel, and Zack have each created a list of five directors that fit their idea of a one-hit wonder. They’re not allowed to pick one the others have chosen, but they are allowed to justify their answers, attempt joke picks, and make Kent mad. Press play to remember the poster.

BaconBit: Thor: Love and Thunder Review
By Odin’s beard! A fourth Thor movie has been released! Zack and Kent are ready to discuss whether or not this sequel is worthy and if Marvel Phase 4 is heading in the right direction. Joel wasn’t able to see Love and Thunder yet, but he’s still ready to battle with the negativity that he’s expecting from the other two. And he’ll be taking the Bifrost Bridge before they enter the land of spoilers. Press play to hear if Christian Bale brings DC to the MCU.

Episode 359: What a Grill Wants
Light the coals or turn on the gas, it’s time for a sizzling, summer-themed episode of Baconsale! Kent, Joel, and Zack are standing at our respective grills, making sure the meat is cooked to perfection, cracking some dad jokes, and tiering foods you’d commonly find at a backyard barbecue. We’ll be ranking hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, corn on the cob, fruit salad, lemonade, watermelon, and more. And as things heat up, Joel will expose his enthusiasm for beans, Zack will express his love for mayo, and Kent will admit that he judges moms. Press play to potluck with Baconsale!

Episode 358: Lynchian Dynamics
The owls are silent. That must mean it’s time for Baconsale to take on the transcendental filmmaker, David Lynch. He may be popular among film geeks, but many people might not know the influence he’s had on movies & television. We’re joined on this episode by Andrew, a young Lynchian enthusiast, who asked us to walk with him through Lynch’s surreal cinematic world, followed by an in-depth discussion of enigmatically entertaining TV series, Twin Peaks. We hope you enjoy Kent sharing personal synopses, Zack jump-scaring us with fun facts, and Joel trying to interpret if this whole episode is a dream. You must not fear this episode. Fear is the mind-killer. Press play.

BaconBit: Obi-Wan Kenobi Review
The double suns have set on another Star Wars series, so Kent, Joel, and Zack are ready to discuss Obi-Wan Kenobi. While this Disney Plus show explores what happened in the 20 years between the prequels and the original trilogy, we’re going to explore how we felt about the storyline, the acting, the visual effects, and the lethality of lightsabers. You may sense some cynicism from certain hosts on this BaconBit, but we also make a point to say something nice before putting on any rant hats. Plus, if you’ve been wondering if you should watch Obi-Wan, the first 15 minutes of our review is spoiler free. Press play, you precocious little princess!

Episode 357: This Show is a Joke!
Listener, do you like movies about gladiators? Would you like to hear us talk about humorous films? As you wish. It’s taken us for-ev-er, but we’re finally talking about comedies! Yeah, baby! We’ve made a list of 10 categories such as Favorite Parody/Satire, Overrated, Comedy That Makes You Cry, Best Sequel, Acquired Taste, and Still Funny After All These Years. Kent isn’t a fan of most straightforward comedies, whereas Joel resorted to using a Magic 8 Ball because he couldn’t pick just one answer, and a witch turned Zack into a newt! …he got better. Episode 356: A More Civilized Star Wars Quiz
Hello there! It’s been a while since we've dedicated an entire episode to Star Wars (blame the sequel series), but our special guest Kyler has given us a new hope. He’s created a “Jar-JarPardy” quiz for Kent, Joel & Zack, and these half-witted scruffy-looking nerf herders are going to battle it out to see with whom the Force is the strongest. And since the winner of this contest will win a cool prize and become the Supreme Chancellor of Baconsale, the stakes have never been higher. Listen as we buzz in too early for the answers we know and completely drown during the deep dive questions. Press play to hear why the ability to speak does not make us intelligent.

Episode 355: Australian for Podcast
G’day, listener! On this bloomin’ episode of Baconsale, we’ve decided to take a walkabout with the pop culture influences of Australia. We’ve picked answers for 16 different categories, such as Best Contribution to Television, Scariest Animal, Toughest Bloke, Loveliest Sheila, Worst Export, Belongs on the Outback Menu, Location I'd Like to Visit, and That Totally Seems Australian. Kent actually lived Down Under for a couple years, Zack’s going to share random facts about Oz, and Joel can’t help talking in an Aussie accent. We apologize in advance, mate. Tie me kangaroo down, sport, and then press play!

Episode 354: Fruit by the Tier
Things are just peachy here in the Baconcave, even though we’re taking on a surprisingly controversial topic: fruit. We’re joined by the apple of Zack’s eye, Babs, and she is helping us from going completely bananas as we rank and tier 24 popular fruits from around the world. Joel has cherry-picked a large crop of fruity facts he’d like to share with you. Kent does a plum job of making us feel uncomfortable by constantly mentioning flesh (and suspenders?). But mostly we’re all just doing our best to make sure this topic isn’t a lemon. Orange you glad you pressed play to listen to this sweet episode of Baconsale?

BaconBit: Top Gun: Maverick Review
We’re revvin' up our engines so you can listen to our howlin' review about Top Gun: Maverick. It’s been 36 years since we’ve seen Pete Mitchell take to the skies and the big question is, will this long-anticipated sequel take our breath away? Or does the movie crash and burn into great balls of fire? Kent brought along Zack as his co-pilot for the film screening, which means Joel hasn’t seen it yet. Therefore, Joel is going to eject before we cross into spoiler territory. But we hope you enjoy this BaconBit about Tom Cruise’s latest flight into the danger zone. Press play to hear if this “legacyquel” is writing checks its box office can’t cash.

Episode 353: You Had Me at “Tom Cruise”
We feel the need, the need to talk about Tom Cruise. Tom has been a Top Gun at the box office for the past four decades, and he seems to have All the Right Moves when picking scripts. But is he a living Legend? Is he Far and Away the biggest movie star ever? Or is he just one of A Few Good Men in the Risky Business of filmmaking? Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to listen to us give a brief history of this American Made actor, and hear our answers for a Cocktail of categories such as Most Surprising Performance, Favorite Mission: Impossible Movie, Greatest Running Scene, and Best-Looking Character. Press play to hear why Zack is one of The Outsiders on this episode of Baconsale.

Episode 352: The Gilmore Guys (and a Girl)
If you're out on the road, feeling lonely and so cold, all you have to do is listen to this episode, and your spirits will be lifted, because today we’re talking about Gilmore Girls! Joel loves this popular TV series—even though he doesn’t pronounce some of the names correctly—and he’s grateful that our guest, Aleesha, finally made this topic happen on Baconsale. Meanwhile, Kent is a little more cynical (much like Luke Danes), and Zack is getting his opinions IM-ed to him from his wife. Enjoy as we talk very rapidly about the basic storyline, gossip about Lorelai’s and Rory’s relationships, and even reenact a couple scenes from the show. Press play to be introduced to the residents of Stars Hollow.
