Episode 414: Modern Console Warfare
The last time Baconsale did a video game category show, back in 2015, we primarily focused on the pre-PlayStation era. However, we’re picking up our controllers once again to chat about modern gaming. Our guest, Brian, is joining Joel, Kent, and Zack to finally give some love to Xbox, and to pick answers for such console-driven categories such as Best Game with the Worst Graphics, Favorite First-Person Shooter, Game that Made the Console Worth Owning, and World We Wouldn’t Want to Live In. Along the way, we’ll get a little emotional, repeatedly explain what DLC means, and reveal to Kent that we’re all figments of his imagination. Press play to relive the horror of PS1 Hagrid’s face.

Episode 413: Celebrity Name Game
Which celebrities comes to mind when we say Jennifer, Chris, Kate, John, Jessica, Ryan, and Tom? The truth is, it can be confusing when famous actors have the same names. Therefore, Baconsale is appointing one celebrity as the winner who gets to keep their notable name and giving a new one to the rest. Zack may be absent on this episode, but Jessica & Jillian have joined Joel and Kent to take on this task together. These sisters may sound sweet, but watch out, they know how dispose of a body. Listen as Joel admits his admiration for alliteration, Kent exposes his nameist tendencies, Jessica & Jillian share the same brain, and we all express some distrust in middle-namers. Press play, but try not to be too persuaded by Joel’s power.

Episode 412: The Fearamid of Bad CGI
Who says the Fearamid can only be used during the Halloween season? On this episode of Baconsale, we’re taking a look at the worst examples of computer-generated imagery in movies & film and pitting them against one another to see which one ends up on the top of the bottom. Confused yet? So are we, at times. Nevertheless, Joel, Kent, and Zack will be mocking CGI monsters, laughing at animated animals, critiquing messy action scenes, leveling sloppy superheroes, judging ugly babies, gasping at freaky faces, and questioning de-aging as we boldly enter the uncanny valley. Press play to see how our mouths just don’t move quite right.

Episode 411: Bands of Brothers
We’re expanding the age range of our musical tastes on this episode on Baconsale, courtesy of our guest, Briggs! Now, Briggs is young, but he has an old soul when it comes to music. And Joel, Kent & Zack are going to try their best to guess what Briggs is going to pick next as we all choose answers for categories such as Always Makes You Happy, Best Vocals, Go-To Artist for a Long Drive, Guilty Pleasure, and One Album Wonder. Listen as we make some broken-record picks, play some sad boy tunes, and offer a lot of apologies to each other. Press play to see which choices are B.B. and which ones are B.Z. And visit Baconsale.com to see our official playlist of songs discussed on this episode.

Episode 410: Veggie Tiers
If you like to talk 'bout tomatoes, if a beet can make you smile, have we got an Baconsale episode for you! Since Joel, Kent, and Zack had such a fun time talking about fruit with Babs last year, we invited her back to talk about the savory side of edible plant life. We’ve got a list of 24 vegetables, from artichoke to zucchini, that we’re going to discuss and rank. We’ll be sharing random veggie facts, offering our personal taste preferences, trying our best to come to a culinary consensus, and dancing around the subject of gastrointestinal discomfort. Press play for your daily serving of healthy podcasting.

BaconBit: Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One Review
Ethan Hunt and his Impossible Mission Force have taken on arms dealers, rogue agents, rabbit’s feet, nuclear bombs, terrorists, and the Syndicate, but nothing had prepared them for their most recent obstacle: a global pandemic that shut down filmmaking. However, despite all the delays, Tom Cruise managed to pull together his team for a seventh time to make the first part of a two-part story. Joel was disavowed from the movie screening of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, so Kent and Zack are going to give their reviews, but not before letting Joel guess the plot summary. And don’t worry, we’ll give you a warning before we download & decrypt all the spoilers. Press play to feel like Pierce Brosnan’s James Bond.

Episode 409: Adjusted for Inflation
Back in the day, it only cost a quarter to go to the movie theater and you could get an ice cream soda for a nickel! But times have changed, prices have risen, and things are more expensive now. So on this episode of Baconsale, we’re taking a look at the top ten highest-grossing movies of all time, adjusted for inflation. And while these popular box office blockbusters have an objective order, Joel, Kent, and Zack are going to give their personal rankings, share their reviews, offer some A.I. insights, and compare our average top ten with Wikipedia’s. Press play to learn the difference between flicks, films, movies, and cinema.

Episode 408: Listening in America
O say, can you hear? The Boogie Woogie Baconsale Boys are preparing for their Independence Day celebration by picking some of the most patriotic party tunes of all time. What qualifies a song for our official 4th of July playlist? Well, it has to say the word America, or name cities in the U.S.A., or be about freedom, or mention popular national pastimes, or allude to fireworks, or instill feelings of happiness, or have a good beat… Okay, so we’re a little loose with the theme, but what’s more American than hearing the music Joel, Kent, and Zack are planning to play during our little town’s parade, the family barbeque, and our Canada-shaming fireworks show? Mayor Bigmustache and his extended family request that you press play. And visit Baconsale.com to find our official Spotify playlist.

BaconBit: Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny Review
Believe it or not, it’s been 15 years since the last attempt at an Indiana Jones movie, but will this sequel be more well-received than Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? That’s what Joel, Kent, and Zack are going to decide as we review Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. We’ll reveal if Phoebe Waller-Bridge makes a good sidekick for Dr. Jones, if Industrial Light and Magic is able to help Indy believably ride again, and if this film may be akin to elderly abuse. The first part of this BaconBit is spoiler-free. Then we’ll let you know before we navigate through the spoiler wormhole, where we’ll discuss specific details, including the original ending that tested poorly with audiences. Press play to crack that whip one more time.

Episode 407: Movie Cars
Lights! Camera! Traction! Last time we talked about cars on Baconsale, Kent & Joel were a little out of their element. Therefore, on this episode, we’ve swerved back into the pop culture lane to discuss famous motor vehicles from movies & TV. We’ll be selecting answers for such categories as Best in a Street Race, Completely Impractical (But We Still Want to Drive It), Family Vacation Car, Non-DeLorean Time Machine, and Wouldn’t Drive It If You Paid Me. As we wildly shift gears and talk about films we’ve never mentioned on the podcast before, we hope you enjoy Joel needing to know the colors, Kent’s constant attempts to impress women, and Zack trying to not laugh at our automobile ignorance. Press play to cram your car full of NOS and Gushers.

BaconBit: Extraction II Review
If you’ve been as excited for the sequel to Extraction as we have been, listener, then… you probably haven’t been that excited for it. In fact, you may not have even known that this Netflix streaming movie or Tyler Rake even existed. Nevertheless, we’re determined to review Extraction 2, with or without subtitles, for some reason. Joel, Kent, and Zack watched this movie (at varying speeds) and they’re going to let you know if the plot is as complicated as the original, if the action sequences are as intense, and if any of it actually matters. Don’t get any arm or hand wounds while pressing play!

Episode 406: The Comedy of Comedies!
We don't know how to put this, but Baconsale is kind of a big deal. We may not have nunchuck skills or bow-hunting skills, but by Grabthar’s Hammer, we are skilled at creating contentious tournaments. On this episode, we have a plethora of infamous comedies that were submitted by you, the really, really, really, ridiculously good-looking listener. Joel, Kent, and Zack have put these humorous movies on a bracket, and you’ll see the violence inherent in the system as we vote for which one is the funniest. Some decisions are so fetch, others are gonna leave a mark, and you may believe we’ve pulled the wrong lever at times, but just when you think our decisions couldn’t possibly be any dumber, perhaps we totally redeem ourselves? Don’t call us Shirley, just press play, you hoser! And visit Baconsale.com to print out our official comedy bracket & play along!

BaconBit: The Flash Review
It’s been a very slow road getting here, but the fastest man alive has finally arrived on the big screen. But is The Flash worth the wait? On this BaconBit, Kent and Joel are ready to quickly review the speedster’s solo movie. Kent may be a little bitter about the path the DC Extended Universe has taken, and Joel is surprised that this movie wasn’t canceled before it was released. However, is this film the big reset button DC Studios was hoping for? Have Ezra Miller’s extra-curricular activities killed the buzz surrounding this Justice League follow-up? Will Batman save the day? Listen to find out. Press play to enter the Polar Express Vortex!

Episode 405: Canceled Too Soon
Have you ever started to get invested in a TV series, only to have it abruptly end without a satisfying conclusion? That’s what we’ll be venting about on this episode of Baconsale with our guest, Debbie. We’ve each picked five television shows that ended before their time. We’ll share what they were about, why they were canceled, and how we wish they could have ended. No, we won’t be talking about Firefly, because this whole episode is brought to you by that amazing space Western. However, we will be discussing flesh & blood adaptations, sharing some disappointing revelations, and giving spoiler alerts before kind of (but not really) spoiling each show. Press play before this episode is erased from existence by either FOX or Netflix!

Episode 404: Fandom Not Found
A few years ago, Baconsale confessed our pop culture blind spots to you, the listener. You accepted us, despite our shortcomings, and so we decided to do it again. First of all, Joel, Kent, and Zack follow-up on the films we talked about last time and see how much progress we've made. Then we'll take a look at the gaps in our knowledge about popular bands, books, TV series, and video games. Plus, we have a miscellaneous category where we can confess anything else we know nothing about. Along the way, we'll approve each other's answers, support each other in their endeavors, and plan some very strange sleepovers. Press play to get blind with Baconsale.

BaconBit: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Review
Our words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup, and they slither wildly as we review Spider-Man: Across the Universe. Kent & Joel are ready to share their thoughts on this highly anticipated animated sequel, while Zack is going to web sling out of the Baconcave when we enter the BaconBit spoiler-verse because he hasn’t seen this movie yet. But does this film live up to the hype? Or is animation vomit? Will Miles Morales go the distance? And does it all fit into Spider-Man canon? Everyone keeps telling us how our review is supposed to go. Nah. We’re gonna do our own thing. Press play.

Episode 403: We Ate Everything at Carl’s Jr.
Don’t bother us, we’re eating. Okay, we’re done eating now, so it’s time for Baconsale to talk about our latest menu quest: Carl’s Jr. We ate everything on the menu and are ready to give you all the hand-scooped details! As we chat about the history of this fast-food chain, Joel, Kent, and Zack will reveal the Hardee’s connection, ponder the disappearance of Green Burrito, and try to ignore most of the restaurant’s ads from the 2000s. Then we’ll share our favorite burgers, the worst breakfast menu items, our go-to orders, the biggest surprises we encountered, and more. Along the way, we’ll discover the difference between the Apple and Android apps, discuss the hierarchy of chicken nugget shapes, debate about the Famous Star, and compare almost everything to Cinnabon Maverik. Press play to hear a Western talk about bacon and cheeseburgers.

BaconBit: The Little Mermaid Live-Action Remake Review
Baconsale admits that in the past we’ve been a nasty about live-action Disney remakes. You weren't kidding when you called us, well, cynics. However, nowadays, perhaps we’ve mended all our ways, repented, seen the light, and made a switch. True? Maybe. On this BaconBit, we’re going to review the live-action film adaptation of The Little Mermaid. So is this latest cash grab a poor, unfortunate, soulless remake? Or will we accept this movie as part of our world? You’ll have to listen to find out. And even though there’s not much to spoil about the story, we’ll still keep any major changes under the sea until the end. Don't be such a guppy, press play!

Episode 402: The Late Night Show Tonight
From a desk in the basement of Kent’s mom’s house, heeeeeere’s Baconsale! On this episode, we’re chatting about late-night talk shows. We’re going to rank fifteen popular TV hosts, including Johnny Carson, David Letterman, Jay Leno, Arsenio Hall, Jon Stewart, Conan O’Brien, Stephen Colbert, and the Jimmys. We’ll talk about the history of this type of television programming and discuss why it seems to be in decline lately. We’ll also reminisce about some of our favorite sketches, characters, and jokes from the past. Joel, Kent, and Zack may match answers more than they’d like to, but we hope you’ll stick around to hear the musical act at the end of tonight’s show. Press play to join our other guests on the couch.

Episode 401: Chasing Amy Adams
Are you Enchanted by Amy Adams? Our guest Jonathan is, which is why he had no Doubt as to what he wanted to discuss on this episode of Baconsale. Not only does he think that Amy is Drop Dead Gorgeous, but Her movies are his Vice. However, do Amy’s acting chops, red hair, and Big Eyes impress Joel, Kent, and Zack? Do they think this Underdog’s career is Standing Still? Or do they see her as The Fighter Jonathan does, who is On the Road to even more acting success? Listen to the Arrival of our answers to categories such as Most Adorable Performance, She Was Miscast, and Underrated Role as we do our best to not confuse Amy Adams with Isla Fisher. Press play, Junebug!

Episode 400: The Fab 400
It only took 400 episodes, but Baconsale is finally doing an episode all about The Beatles! Joel is riding on a Beatles high (NOT the kind that involves greener grass or fungus) and would happily talk Eight Days a Week about The Fab Four. Zack is Across the Universe on the opposite side of Beatlemania and was yelling “Help!” as he had to listen to all of their albums. Kent is Something in the middle, and prefers the darker, experimental side of John, Paul, George, and Ringo. However, despite our differences, We Can Work It Out as we take The Long and Winding Road of discussing the history of the band. Then we’ll Come Together to reveal our bottom five and top five songs from the best-selling music act of all time. All you need is to press play to hear the biggest hits of Yesterday. And visit Baconsale.com to see our official Beatles playlist featuring the songs we talked about on this episode (and some songs we didn’t talk about).

BaconBit: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Review
It’s time for Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 to face the music. Joel and Kent saw this delayed conclusion to the GotG trilogy and they’re ready to review it and talk about their feelings for Peter Quill, Gamora, Drax, Groot, Rocket, Nebula, Mantis, and James Gunn. We’ll start off with our spoiler-free thoughts, and then we’ll warn you before we enter the spoiler quadrant. Since this film is darker and heavier than the previous two, will that make Kent like it more, since he, too, dwells in darkness? Will Joel be completely turned off by this MCU movie’s “accomplishment”? Can this franchise stand on its own? And how’s the soundtrack? You’ll hear all this and more by pressing play and listening to Baconsale’s review of Guardians 3.

Episode 399: 2023 Summer Movie Preview
Even though the weather might not agree, it seems that the summer season is upon us, and Baconsale is ready to guide you through the cinematic forecast. Joel and Kent have looked forward at Hollywood’s upcoming offerings and will let you know five movies they want to avoid followed by five films they would like to see. Although, to be honest, Kent is only really excited for three of his five picks. And while Joel hopes his choices will fail, Kent definitively knows his films are going to flop. Join us as we unleash our inner-dad hype and speak about sequels, rant about remakes, and babble about Barbie. Now that release dates are somewhat reliable again (with the exception of the DCEU), it’s time for you press play!

Episode 398: Baconsale-Approved Airplane Etiquette
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your podcast speaking. We’d like to thank you for joining Baconsale on this journey through the sometimes-friendly skies. Kent, Joel, and Zack are prepared to discuss proper behavior when arriving at the airport, waiting for your flight, boarding the plane, magically flying through the sky, and eventually deplaning. As we present both our proposed rules and the listener’s suggestions, we’ll decide whether they’re cleared for takeoff, experiencing some turbulence, or if they’re grounded. And as we set the ground rules for the air travel, we’ll reveal some shocking truths about ourselves, including the little-known fact that Kent is tall. Please put your tray tables up, return your and seat backs to their full upright & locked position, and press play.

BaconBit: Team Listener vs. Team JK (2023)
Now that Chad has The Listener victory trophy securely in his hands, it’s time for him, Taylor, and Briggs to see if they can go toe-to-toe with Baconsale’s Team JK, who are still undefeated (at a board game called Time’s Up). And since Joel and Kent weren’t able to answer any questions during the recent anniversary show episode, they’re itching to hit their buzzers as quickly as possible. However, for reasons only known to them, they have to hold a finger boop to give their official responses. Press play to hear us guess translated movie titles, answer A.I.-generated questions, and accuse each other of cheating.

Episode 397: Our 397th Episode!
Look, if we would have waited for the 400th episode to do our anniversary show, it would have been pushed into mid-May, and we want to keep this annual event near Baconsale’s birthday in April. So we’re celebrating our beginnings on our 397th episode with a pop culture trivia contest that pits three contestants against each other: Chad, the returning Listener; Taylor, who tinkers with tools; and our youngest voluntary listener, Briggs. Zack will host this quirky quiz show and question our guests about casual dining menu items, boy bands, sporting team names, horror film franchises, and, of course, Gilmore Girls. Kent will do his best not to give away answers to our guests, Joel just keeps gasping at everything, and we hope you have a good time listening to this ridiculous competition. Who will come out victorious? Don’t wait until Tim Burton passes away to find out, press play!

Episode 396: Happy Faux-lidays!
Have you ever watched a TV series or movie where they celebrated a fictional holiday and you wanted to join in on the fun? That’s what we’re talking about on this episode of Baconsale. Joel, Kent, and Zack are taking a look at holidays made up by screenwriters such as Festivus, Galentine’s Day, Purge Night, Life Day, Chrismukkah, Robanukah & Yak Shaving Day and deciding whether or not they should be celebrated in real life. We’ll also discuss their origins, some traditions, and how best to observe these imaginary celebrations. Press play to help Kent figure out who his best friend is!

Episode 395: Schoolyard Pick – Bad Road Trip Snacks
Okay, here’s the situation: Zack just got a fancy Aston Martin and he’s getting ready to go on a road trip to the SPAM Museum in Austin, Minnesota (obviously). However, he’s only got room for one passenger in his car, so one of the other two Baconsale hosts will have to stay behind. And Zack is going to make his decision on who he’s taking with him based solely on the snacks they’re providing for the journey. We asked you, the listener, for suggestions of the worst road trip food out there, and now it’s up to Joel and Kent to pick the best of the bad and see if they can persuade Zack to let them ride shotgun. Press play to learn the fanciest way to pronounce pistachios.

Episode 394: Channeling the 80s
Don’t touch that dial, listener, because Baconsale is ready to repeatedly hit the nostalgia button for everyone who was born before Zack was. Our friend Casey is joining us to talk about television series from the 1980s, and pick answers for such categories as Best Cartoon, Biggest Crush, Most Annoying Character, and Family You’d Want to Be In. Considering how many TV shows aired at least 50% of their episodes in the 80s, you’d think that we’d have little to no overlap, but we’re all a little surprised by how much we match each other. Press play to hear Kent make mildly inappropriate robot noises.

Episode 393: Twinner Winner – Under the Covers
We’ve debated about songs with similar titles before on Baconsale, but what about tunes with the exact same lyrics? On this episode, Joel, Kent & Zack are comparing popular cover songs to the original versions and deciding which one is better. These matchups will include such hits as “I Will Always Love You,” “Live and Let Die,” “I’m A Believer,” “Hurt,” “Always on My Mind,” and “Landslide.” There are also some triple-twin rounds where we’ll be choosing between three different artists. Yes, our decisions are very subjective, and our arguments vary from round to round, but hey, that’s Baconsale. Press play to hear Joel insult Kent and Zack in multiple languages. Go to Baconsale.com for our official Spotify playlist, where you’ll find the original & cover songs we discussed on this episode.

BaconBit: And the 2023 Oscar Winners Are…
The 95th Academy Awards did their best to avoid any drama this year, and therefore the ratings surged to make it the third-lowest viewed broadcast in the ceremony’s history! Zack watched the whole bland thing, Kent struggled to find a place to stream it, and Joel just looked up the winners on Twitter. On this BaconBit, we’ll be discussing the swanky gift bags, inconsiderate dresses, what made Zack cry, stripped down performances, suspenderography and, of course, the winners of each category. We’ll also see who did best on their ballot and announce the winner of our Oscars contest! Press play, Short Stack!

Episode 392: The Action Movie of Action Movies!
Our name is Baconsale. Our world is fire and blood. Which is why we’ve decided to create a bracket to see which action/adventure movie is the greatest of them all. You submitted the adrenaline-fueled films for this tournament, and now it’s up to us to cut your heart out with a spoon as we say “Hasta la vista” to most of your favorite flicks. But Joel, Kent & Zack ain’t got time to bleed. They must go faster as they try to complete this competition in one shot. And even though we know some of our decisions will make you want to have your vengeance, in this life or the next, just know that there’s some good in this episode, listener, and it’s worth fighting for. Welcome to the party, pal! Press play, and we’ll show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. And visit Baconsale.com to print the official bracket for this action movie tournament.

Episode 391: 2023 Oscar Predictions
Well, it’s Oscar season…again. The Academy is trying really hard to get people interested this year by nominating some huge box office successes, but do popcorn flicks & comedies really have a chance of winning? We’re going to speculate on that while making predictions for each of the 23 award categories on this episode of Baconsale. And with Golden Corral on the line for the winner of these golden statue forecasts, the stakes have never been higher. Zack plays the odds again, Joel tries to keep us sad (and not mad), Kent has fun with puns, and Angela Basset does the thing. Will Elvis be king of the 95th Academy Awards? Will The Banshees of Inisherin make a lot of noise? Will it be All Quiet on the Western Front for epic war remakes? Will Everything Everywhere All At Once take it all? Press play to roll out the red carpet to your ears and find out. And visit Baconsale.com to fill out our official ballot for the 2023 Oscars for your chance to win one of two prize options.

Episode 390: This Show is Still Underrated!
We’re keeping things positive on this episode as we revisit a well from five years ago and, once again, discuss underrated things. Some of the categories mirror our last overrated episode (e.g., condiment & sitcom character), some are Baconsale staples (movie villain & video game hero), and other ones are completely random (doughnut & over-the-counter drug). Joel, Kent, and Zack have a little difficulty distinguishing underrated from dated, we’ve got some hot takes to offer, and we’ll do our best to keep things entertaining as we question and sometimes mock each other’s undervalued answers. Don’t take medical advice from Baconsale, but please press play!

Episode 389: Ranking Disneyland Rides (Classic Era)
To all who listen to this happy episode; welcome. Baconsale is your podcast. How do you do? Say it when you're meetin' Joel, Kent, and Zack. They’re going to tier 24 rides at Disneyland, going chronologically from opening day in 1955 to Indiana Jones in 1995. And it’s a small world after all, because these foolish mortals are joined by our friend Josh, a self-proclaimed Disneynerd. We’ve got a lot of magical memories comin’ down the track as we discuss our personal experiences with each ride at the park. We’ll also offer a peek at the backside of water as we share some interesting trivia about the attractions, expose Disney World snobbery, and showcase amazing Donald Duck impersonations. Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho! Then press play.

BaconBit: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Review
Now that the third installment of Ant-Man is beginning the fifth phase of the MCU, we’re going to review it during our second BaconBit of the ninth season of Baconsale. Zack isn’t here, unfortunately, but Kent & Joel are ready to share their thoughts about Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Kent has been a little bitter about Ant-Man since Edgar Wright left the project, and this series hasn’t been one of Joel’s favorites, either, but will they be the tiniest bit impressed by the Quantum Realm? Listen to find out. And don’t worry, the first part of this review is free of spoilers. Press play to discover who “he” is.

Episode 388: Bizarre Love Triangles
Will they? Won’t they? Yes, it looks like Baconsale is going to do an episode about love triangles. We’ve taken 14 of the most popular romances from film & TV to discuss whether the characters made the right decisions, if they should have chosen the one that got away, or if they should have ended up alone. There are going to be a few spoilers as we talk about older television shows and movies, but we hope you enjoy our arguments about age differences, our sentiments about stalkers, and our reactions to relationships. Prepare yourself for a lot of emotional gear shifting as we go from silly romantic comedies to dark dramas to sitcoms, but remember that the one constant in all this madness is love. Don’t be a puppy kicker. Press play!

Episode 387: Our Seven Favorite Albums
Listen, listener, it’s too difficult to decide what our top five favorite albums are, and a top 10 would just take too long. Therefore, on this episode of Baconsale, we’re each picking seven albums that we love. These aren’t songs that we put on shuffle, we enjoy these musical collections track by track, in the order they were intended to play. Kent is ready to showcase his hipster side, but he’s including some self-proclaimed bangers. Meanwhile, Zack & Joel are largely giving stage crew picks—Zack’s are in chronological order, and Joel’s are largely influenced by his sister. We hope you enjoy hearing our memories of music as much as we enjoyed sharing them. Press play to hear our sneaky honorable mentions. And go to Baconsale.com to see the Spotify playlist we created to showcase some of the songs from the albums we talked about on this episode.

BaconBit: 2023 Sundance Recap with Emily
Get those noses high in the air, listener, because we’re talking Sundance again. Our friend, Emily, is joining us to talk about the record number of movies she and Kent watched this year. And guess what? Almost 30% of them were good this season! Listen to Kent & Emily’s hive-mind thoughts as they talk to you about Talk to Me, relate the story of Flora and Son, reminisce about Past Lives, condemn Bad Behavior, and civilly discuss Polite Society. Press play to be the first people to hear this BaconBit about being the first people to see these films.

Episode 386: The Return of WWBD
It’s been a few years since we last asked, "What Would Baconsale Do?" However, we’ve decided to enter the realm of random mental insights again, this time with Zack at the helm. He’s going to ask Kent & Joel a series of questions about genies, aliens, shopping carts, and more. Zack is also going to present some serious moral quandaries, some of which were generated by artificial intelligence. We hope you enjoy this bizarre episode as we discuss Return of Jafar, the destruction of Portland, purring when we’re happy, losing fingers, knives & duct tape, and a handful of positive affirmations. Aunt Celery says press play!

Episode 385: 2023 Prediction Banquet
It’s not every day that we unleash our powers of prognostication on our listener, it’s just usually on the second show of every season. So on this episode of Baconsale, we’re looking at the upcoming year and getting a little catty. We’ll be making predictions about celebrity comebacks & break-ups, pop culture drama, sports forecasts, the rule of threes, movies releasing this year, and more. Since we’ve been doing this type of show for a while now, we occasionally will copy each other’s former answers (as well as our own). But we hope you enjoy hearing us giggle at sports names, berate those who go back to the well, and switch places in our opinions. Watch out for Ezra Miller in 2023, and press play to hear silent agreement.

Episode 384: Best & Worst Movies of 2022-ish
As our ninth season of Baconsale begins, we realize very quickly that it’s a good thing we’re pop culture podcasters and not math teachers. We’re looking back at the movies we watched this past year and ranking our five least favorite films, followed by our five favorites. Joel is going after cult classics this time, and it’s his own fault he chose the truly rotten ones. Kent keeps his choices limited to movies released in 2022, and manages to find a few golden hipster nuggets amidst the cape flicks and wasteland that was last year in cinema. And Zack is there to judge each of our picks along the way. Press play to decide which Skarsgård is the best Skarsgård.

Episode 383: The Season Eight Escape
Joel, Kent, and Zack are going to do another category show all about Baconsale because the season has come to an end. Things start off with a thousand voices & a single dream, followed by a discussion of our favorite moments, strange topics, what surprised us, our biggest accomplishments, and more. Kent cheats a little on his categories this year, while Joel forgot that he could do that. And Zack gives a not-so-subtle hint about what kind of show he’d like to do in the future. Yes, this episode involves a lot of back-patting (which makes us feel a little awkward at times), but it’s an entertaining walk down memory lane, along with slight mockery and a few guilt trips. Let’s get it started! Press play.

Episode 382: A Christmash Carol
Marley was dead: to begin with. Dead as a door-nail. This must be distinctly understood, or nothing wonderful can come of the Baconsale episode we are going to relate. Joel, Kent, and Zack have watched every film adaptation of Charles Dickens’ novella, A Christmas Carol, and we’re going to build our own version of Ebenezer Scrooge’s story using the tried-and-true method of M.A.S.H. As we do so, we’ll also share our thoughts on the acting, the storytelling, the sets, the costumes, the visual effects, and the music of each version we saw. And we’ll pick our favorite and least favorite movies. Will the Christmas spirits be kind to us? Or will we wear the chains we formed in life, link by link, and yard by yard? Don’t say “Bah! Humbug!” Come in! Press play! And know us better, man!

Episode 381: The 12 Tiers of Christmas
On the first show of December, our podcast gave to you, a random holiday-themed ranking episode. We’ve decided to take a Baconsale-style look at the presents given during The Twelve Days of Christmas and see if they’re something that anyone would actually want. After we discuss the history of the song and how much these gifts would cost, we’ll then tier each present according to what we’d cherish forever, what we might enjoy once, and what we’d regift or just throw away. Joel gets a little greedy for gold, people never stop dancing at Kent’s apartment in New York, and watch out for the Zack Attack at the end! It’s a killer! It doesn’t matter if you’re a drummer, a piper, a lord, a lady, a milkmaid, a swan, a goose, a ring, a blackbird, a hen, a dove, or a partridge, press play!

Joel, Kent, and Zack have accepted your choices With Arms Wide Open, and then they’ll make Chop Suey of 32 songs that they don’t think deserve to win. BaconBit: Wakanda Forever Review
It’s been four years since the first standalone Black Panther movie. A lot of events within the Marvel Cinematic Universe have occurred since then, as well as the tragic, real-life passing of Chadwick Boseman, but is this sequel a fitting finish to Phase Four? Or is this two-hour-and-forty-one-minute movie going to be a drain on our mental resources? Joel and Kent are going to start this review on their own, since they saw the movie together, and Zack will join us as soon as we start spoiling the movie (about 18 minutes in). However, we’ll keep our thoughts spoiler-free before then. Take your mask off and press play to hear about the Na'vi suffering bloodless deaths via vibranium.

Episode 377: Silent Movie Sampler Platter
Lights! Camera! Silence! On this episode of Baconsale, Joel is showing his age. He’s brought a selection of silent films to the table in hopes that Zack and Kent have (finally) watched them and are ready to review all ten. Some of these movies are over 100 years old, yet Joel feels they still have something to offer modern audiences. While Zack is concerned about the content of these pre-Production Code motion pictures, so he’s going to let parents know what to expect. Will Charlie Chaplin make us chuckle? Does Buster Keaton have us busting a gut? Is Metropolis still mesmerizing? Listen to our fully audio podcast to find out. Press play because Guillermo del Toro says this is his favorite episode.
