Instead of approaching life as if you're forced against your will, envision yourself embracing the opportunity to tackle these three things or however many are on your list. Recognize that you get to play this game of life today. And when you look at your to-do list, no longer see it as drudgery or an obligation but as an opportunity…a chance to participate actively and joyfully. With this shift in perspective, you approach your life with gratitude and a lighter heart. Today, I've been wrestling with this feeling that I don't work hard enough. I've always had this perception that I'm a lazy person, and I've even mentioned it in previous videos. But lazy might not be the right word…It's more about how I approach work and what feels like work to me. I can produce a crazy amount of content and dive into projects that I genuinely enjoy, and it doesn't feel like work at all. But when it comes to the tasks that others perceive as hard or challenging, I struggle to self-motivate and tackle them head-on.And that's where things get tricky…because the work I love and excel at feels light to me, I often end up feeling like I haven't done anything meaningful at the end of the day. I was hanging out in Mexico at this Mastermind event, and we got into a discussion about content creation. People are always surprised to learn how much time I spend actually creating content. Now, I could blame it on my ADHD or my inherent love for novelty, but the truth is, humans are naturally drawn to new and exciting things. Often, the answer lies in doing more of what we already know we should be doing.The second mistake I frequently make is waiting too long to start. Today, I'll be addressing some of the questions I received during our recent Ask Me Anything session on Instagram Live. One particular question caught my attention, and it's a two-parter. The first part asks how my self-image has changed as I've become more successful. Interestingly, I've always possessed a high level of self-confidence. Regardless of what I set out to do, I've always believed that I have the potential to be the best in the world at it. The second part of the question deals with how money has changed me from when I was poor to where I am now. When I was younger, I focused solely on my own needs and desires. But as I started achieving success and attaining financial stability, something shifted within me. I realized that I had the resources and capacity to contribute to others and make a meaningful impact on the world. As my cup began to fill…I started looking outward and contemplating how I could use my experiences and knowledge to help others on their journeys. Now, when it comes to how money has changed my life in a material sense…it hasn't drastically altered my lifestyle. I still lead a relatively frugal life. So, picture this…I’m sitting down to record this podcast episode, and I can't help but reminisce about my younger days. I emphasize the importance of quantity in the early stages of any creative endeavor…as it eventually leads to quality. As we progress, we can shift our focus to doing less but better, honing our craft and delivering high-quality output. The ultimate goal is to reach a point where we can combine both quantity and quality, achieving mastery in our chosen pursuit. For me, doing less but better extends beyond work and encompasses prioritizing activities that align with my goals and bring fulfillment. Recently, I made a poll asking: Would you rather have a million dollars today or the skills of a billionaire in five years? It's a loaded question, and to me, the answer is obvious…you have to go for the skills. Let me tell you why.Money is never the solution to all our problems. It can depreciate, be stolen, and even become devalued over time. On the other hand, having the skills, knowledge, resources, and ability to make money will never leave you wanting. However, I was surprised to find that 30% of my audience chose the million dollars. Many argued that it could improve the quality of their lives, help them acquire skills and invest for retirement. While these things may be true, in my experience, things that are given without having been earned tend to leave us easily.Think about the lottery. Reports suggest that 70% of people who win the lottery will go bankrupt within only a few short years. That's a massive majority of people. My question is…what makes you think you are the exception? If we don't yet have the skills or the ability to make a million dollars, chances are….we won't know how to use it properly if it's just handed to us.Now, I'm not saying that everyone who chooses the million dollars will lose it. There's a chance that some of my listeners are the 30% who can make it work. But the point is, you have to be honest with yourself and know where you stand. I recently tweeted about video games and the responses I got were intense.So in my tweet, I mentioned porn, junk food, and video games, and I said that there's no such thing as cheap dopamine…you don't realize the true cost you're paying. And while most people can agree the other two aren't great, there are a lot of folks out there who are convinced that video games are harmless. But let me tell you, I've played my fair share of video games in my life. I grew up with the Internet and I was playing video games before they were cool. I'm talking original StarCraft and Diablo.But here's the thing…for me, video games became an addiction. I would spend 15 hours a day playing and it was ruining my life. So I had to cut video games out of my life completely to get away from that addiction. Now, I know not everyone has the same experience as me, and that's totally fine. Some people can play video games for 30 minutes a day and be totally productive in other areas of their lives. But even if you're only playing a little bit, there are hidden costs that you're paying for that cheap dopamine hit.Even if you think you're being totally productive and functional in other areas of your life, these costs are still impacting you more than you realize. I'm gonna drop some serious knowledge on you about this cool psychological principle called the Zygarnic Effect. So here's the deal: the Zygarnic Effect kicks in when you get interrupted in the middle of a task and can't finish it. I'm going to talk about some seriously bad advice I came across on the internet. The advice came from a guy I follow on social media who has hundreds of thousands of followers. While I usually like his content, this piece of advice was a real bummer.Basically, the advice said that if you have to force yourself to create something, you should go create something else. At first glance, this might sound like good advice…after all, if you're struggling to create something, maybe it's just not for you, right?Wrong. Creating anything…whether it's a book, a painting, a video, or anything else…is always difficult. And if you go into it with the expectation that it should feel easy, you're setting yourself up for failure.The truth is, the best creators, artists, and designers know that creating is always going to be difficult. They don't expect it to be easy, and they don't give up when it gets hard…I used to be like this too. But the truth is, if you want to create something great, you have to be willing to put in the work. Hey folks, it's time for an exciting story about my buddy Renee Rodriguez, the public speaking extraordinaire who decided to do the unthinkable: delete his Instagram account and start over from scratch.I know, I know, you're probably thinking "What?! This helps you identify the negative aspects of your life that you need to get rid of. It could be anything from a bad relationship to unhealthy habits...like eating too many calories. And here's the kicker: progress in life is often less about doing new things and more about removing things that are holding you back. I recently received a question from a guy on YouTube asking which is better: earning a million dollars a year from a business that doesn't add value to the world, or earning a hundred thousand dollars a year from a cool job. This question only has one answer for me, but it's going to be different for everyone. For me...it's to make a ton of money doing something boring because money allows me to buy back my time, and that's the only value that money has. Today, I'm excited to share with you a conversation I had with one of my coaching clients who's been struggling with cold DMs, emails, and calls. He was having a tough time getting people to respond, let alone convert into paying customers. But fear not, because in a previous newsletter, I laid out a playbook that shows how to go from a low-paying job to a million-dollar business in just three to five years. One of the key strategies is to develop a high-value skill and find prospects to deliver that value to..and one way to do that is through cold outreach. Now, we all know that cold outreach can work, but it's not easy. Most people underestimate the number of people they need to reach out to before they start seeing results. When I started my window washing business, I had to knock on hundreds of doors to get just two yeses. But those two yeses turned into referrals…and that's how we grew the business. So, the key is to get your foot in the door and deliver excellent value, which can lead to more referrals down the road. Take the time to build relationships and understand your prospects' needs before pitching your solution. Today, we're gonna dive into the most powerful and the worst word in the world. And let me tell you, these words can make or break your journey towards greatness. But before we get into all that, we need to understand how our brain learns and encodes information. It's pretty fascinating stuff, actually. We've got billions and trillions of neurons in our brain that light up every time we have a thought or react to stimuli. These little guys create neuronal pathways that help us learn and remember things. And the more we have a particular thought…the more efficient and effective these pathways become. Think about it like this: the first time you meet someone named David, your brain creates a new pathway to remember his name. And the more you meet him or other people with the same name, the easier it becomes to recall that pathway. It's like going to a friend's house in a new neighborhood. The first time it might be a bit tricky…but the more you visit, the more efficient and automatic the route becomes. And that's why repetition is key when it comes to learning new things.
