In this episode, I'm going to share with you an important daily reminder that's been on my mind lately. It's something I struggle with every day in my pursuit of doing more and more. It's so easy to fill our to-do list with meaningless tasks that make us feel good when we check them off…but don't really move us towards our goals. But being busy isn't the same as being effective…I learned that I need to pursue less but better, to be intentional about identifying key projects or levers that will pay the biggest dividends. Today, I want you to look at your to-do list and ask yourself…what is the most important thing. Is it getting the time and attention it deserves? Are you allocating enough time and resources to it? It's easy to get lost in the busy work and forget what really matters. So take a moment to identify the most important thing on your list and make sure it gets the attention it deserves. Let's talk about how to build a successful business and invest in real estate. I used to think tactics were the key to success…but boy was I wrong. The loan product I got was designed for people like me, with low credit scores, and first-time homebuyers. With an FHA loan, I only had to bring around $7,500 to closing, which is not a big hurdle for most people to hit with a year or two of dedicated effort. So don't let excuses hold you back. Let’s talk about beliefs. I believe there are two types of beliefs. You have your limiting beliefs… the ones holding you back, telling yourself that you can’t do something. For me, I’ve always told myself that I’m not a people person. We tell ourselves these things, and unfortunately we make it our reality. Now, the other type of belief is an empowering belief. In this last video on building unbreakable discipline, the rubber is going to hit the road. This final lesson is really going to help you develop discipline on an ongoing basis.Building discipline is like building a muscle, it needs to be exercised in order for it to grow. The more we practice, the better we become at it. And this requires involving ourselves in situations where we need to flex that discipline muscle. Now, because you’re building this muscle still, you don’t want to over do it, right out of the gate. It’s the same principle as the gym. If it’s been a while since you’ve hit the gym, you don’t want to try and lift a ton of weights, only because you have a new source of energy and motivation. You’ll pull that muscle. The same goes for discipline. Start small. This next step in my 6 step framework on how to build unbreakable discipline revolves around accountability and authority. When I was young, I rebelled against external authority. People telling me what to do, where to be… I didn’t like it. And a lot of that stemmed from this feeling of being trapped by my ADHD medications. It really made me feel like a prisoner in my own body. So, given the option to get off my ADHD medication, I took it. And once I was off this medication… and things didn’t change right away. I discovered that it wasn’t just external authority I was rebelling against, it was my own internal authority as well. Today I want to talk about the power of doing hard things, and how it actually ends up making everything a lot easier. There’s a quote that I like, and it says “Easy choices, hard life. Hard choices, easy life.” And I’ve found this to be incredibly true.If you make the easy choices in life, whatever is most convenient for you, and you’re not challenging yourself… it’s going to end up hurting you later in life. If you don’t feel like completing a project right now, because it’s too much work or too stressful… well you’re just kicking that can down the road to your future self. You’re going to have to deal with it at some point. You might as well deal with it now, making your life easier in the future. I want to share a guiding goal in my life. It has to do with my Dad. My dad has always been the kind of person to help me carry out a plan or goal of mine. He would say, “if this is what you want to do, let’s find a way”. And I am a firm believer in that which you seek is seeking you. If you put effort in, the universe will provide.
