Full tutorial: https://learn.adafruit.com/sound-reactive-sunflower-baby-crib-mobile-with-bluetooth-control Make a beautiful hanging mobile with lights for your nursery. This mobile is so cute and so much fun that older kids and adults will definitely enjoy it as well. The included sample code has around 8 different animated color modes that you can control via bluetooth using Adafruit's free BlueFruit app. It also has a sound reactive mode, where the lights will pulse in time to music or voices in the room. This is a fairly easy build that requires just a little bit of tight soldering on the LED strip. The sunflowers are made from craft foam and felt that you can cut by hand or with a vinyl cutting machine. This project uses just a half-meter of very high density NeoPixels, making for gorgeously buttery smooth animations. This Expansion board is designed for the Seeed Xiao, and since the QT Py is pin compatible we thought we'd try it out with the RP2040 QT Py we just released to see how it works with CircuitPython. The RP2040 has toooons more flash and RAM than the SAMD21 so it's a great little add-on! There's a 128x64 OLED, button, piezo beeper, battery charger and booster, SD card and RTC. Adafruiter Carter recently did a PR for adding Blinka support to the U2IF for RP2040 project. According to the developer, "u2if (USB to interfaces) is an attempt to implement some of the MicroPython "machine" module functionalities on a computer. The goal is to be able to communicate with breakout boards (sensors, lcd...) simply from a python program on x86 machine. It uses a Raspberry PICO microcontroller to make the interface between the computer (USB) and peripherals/protocols." Hey that sounds a lot like Blinka, our compatibility layer for adding CircuitPython library support to CPython. With some quick coding, Carter pulled together some code to test it out! and here we're testing ADC (potentiometer input), PWM (LED output), I2C (VL53L0X) and SPI (DotStar LEDs). Of course everyday GPIO also works so you can control relays and buttons. What a great use of a $4 microcontroller, now programmable with CPython to control all sorts of hardware thanks to Blinka and our 300 CircuitPython libraries. We had a few PR's go into CircuitPython this week to add digital camera support to platforms with parallel-capture support. We started with SAMD51 and also added RP2040 thanks to some clever PIO work. PaintYourDragon and Jepler teamed up to one-two-punch Arduino and CircuitPy support at once, starting with with classic OV7670 cameras and then moving onto the OV2640's next. This could be great for simple vision/TinyML projects. We also added "Pico-as-hardware-peripheral-for-Blinka" support thanks to u2if https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_Blinka/pull/449 which works very nicely and at a price one can't beat! Wippersnapper is our no-code IoT interface for Adafruit.IO - it lets you turn any WiFi-capable board into an IoT device without any programming - simply select what devices are connected to which pins on the hardware and it will auto-configure the firmware and even create a IO feed you can then log and/or use to control other devices by triggering events or webhooks.
