Batman TAS was already awesome. A staple of early '90s cartoons. But it needed a feature to drive home that this show is serious and different. Mask of the Phantasm was not only a great story of Year 2 Batman, but it is also very different from every other movie, animated or live action.

The anime that made the biggest splash in the 2010's. The kaiju genre got turned on its head. Terrifying deaths, military drama and a secret thats brewing underneath it all.

So here we are with the sequel which does what most sequels do which is give you bigger action and even more insane characters. Yet through all of it, Bob Odenkirk sells you on a guy who, much like Jackie Chan, doesn't want any trouble and wants to just spend time with his family on vacation.

And he did while really letting the movie ooze in its New Yorkness. The movie overall is a slow burn with a good story and great acting. On its own, its a very good original movie but at the same time it manages to mix in elements from the Kurasawa original film.

Rodney Dangerfield wanted to be a cartoon character. Warner Bros. was like "BET!" and made him one. The problem was they didn't want to sell a Rated R cartoon, this was the 80s. Cartoon violence sure but God forbid they cuss. So they made it Rated G. ...Yup. But here's the puzzling part. What kid asked for this?

Crime. Crime never sleeps, it also never tips or thanks the chef. Crime is a heartless son of bitch that saps the goodwill from humanity and sells it for crack and hookers. Lucky for us Police Squad will protect us from crime. Again! And then maybe one more time then about 30 years later. We talk about our favorite jokes and why we think the newest movie will do well.

After a month and a half break, 3BG is back...with a lot of stress. We decompress about the current climate in America and get into our movie of the week. The underrated Denzel classic, Ricochet. A movie full of petty revenge, racial overtones, 90's cool and John Lithgow devouring the scenery. Also, we're letting it be known, what our role as black people should be in this country right now.

A story of a soft-spoken stuntman who moonlight as a getaway driver. And he is a damn good getaway driver. We talk about the story, modern noir, stoic protagonist, character actors, "What's truly manly" and Ryan Gosling singing on the Disney Channel.

In a period of time where society at large is very cynical all around, we have a movie that is 100% pure wholesome comic book fun. A Superman film that is basically like watching the live action version of the Bruce Timm Superman the Animated Series. This movie keeps you invested from its opening scene all the way to the end of the film. At a brisk 2 hours, you'll come away wanting to see it again and also come back to this brand new DC world that the movie establishes. This is a must see film.

You know what we need? Unity. We need that in this country...no, around the world. We need that. No better than a story about 4 adopted brothers avenging their white mama that was killed by the local drug lord. You know, the usual in Detroit. We talk about Markie Mark, 2000's Netflix movies, 3Stacks acting, and a bunch of another things not related to this movie.

Ballerina is one such spinoff that works perfectly because we were already introduced to this world in John Wick 3 due to John's affilation with the Ruska Roma. The character of Eve has a simple plight of revenge and this movie does a phenomenal job of seeing her dish out damage on her revenge tour. More than anything else, this film make you want to see more movies from this world.

The film gives you enough of a basic understanding of the sport of F1 racing while also serving you the usual Hollywood sports drama and flare. Its worth the watch alone in IMAX cause the racing cinematography is so damn good. Its a must watch.

And The Final Reckoning hits all the vibes of what you expect out of a Mission Impossible movie. It is PEAK Impossible White Man movie and its so damn good and entertaining.

The first film was good enough in its own way that it told a engaging story but you never came away thinking it would manifest into a franchise. But hey, Hollywood is always trying to franchise every movie so here we are with The Accountant 2. Overall its a fine film but its not the type of film you're rushing to the theater to see.

#Thunderbolts #MarvelStudios #Marvel #Disney #MarvelComics So post-Endgame, the concensus with folks on the MCU is that its a mixed bag. Way more often than not, the vibes from folks end up being grossly overexagerrated than need be. Thunderbolts since it was first announced at SDCC, was a big question mark for folks based on the characters that were involved especially later on when the casting for Sentry happened. The trepidation from folks was very understandable. So thankfully and shockingly, Thunderbolts ends up being a damn good movie mainly because it goes 180 from what you'd probably expect from a 3 act MCU film. By films end, you end up caring about the characters and there individual journey's. And while the movie does a good job of expanding the MCU world, it also makes sure to still keep focus on its main story with the characters. Definitely go see this movie especially in IMAX. Its worth it.

The 4th installment and the soft rebooth. But with more action shenanigans and two guys that like each other a whole lot.

While the advertising might give off big tentpole vibes, the reality is that this film fits in the mid-budget range and it works perfectly. This is a movie that isn't trying throw constant action moments in your face. This is a film that builds up to those action beats to where it feels impactful. You truly end up feeling for what happens to these characters and the decisions they make. Go see this film now! 3BG rating: 9 out of 10

#KamenRider #KamenRiderHibiki #Tokusatsu #Toku Kamen Rider Hibiki stands out amongst the other Kamen Rider shows especially during Heisei Era Rider shows. From the Kamen Rider designs down to the enemies, this show initially stood out as being very unique. But in typical business, the show ended up pivoting into a different direction that was in line with previous rider shows. What you end up with is a show that has two different pathways tonally and a movie that in a way brings the show back into its old form.

3BG are back at full power for this one. In a giant sized episode, the critics talk about a movie special to many blacks. Django Unchained may be the best slave movie of all time. And with that orange guys in the white house right now, this review is very illuminating.

The Program was the gritty 90's football movie that was breaking many rules of college sport movies. Showing drug use, corruption and high stakes college administrative business! The was also shined a light on subjects the world wasn't fully ready/educated about when it came out. Don't worry, Cj and Dee are to talk about it!

Do The Right Thing is one of the most important films ever made. It is the story of a hot day in Brooklyn that dives into race relations, community love, and just regular people having a regular day. The movie was great then and is still great now.

Many folks had trepidations about this film given the background, thankfully Brave New World is a solid watch. From solidifying Sam Wilson as Captain America with confidence to the Winter Soldier'esque Political thriller vibes, it's a very entertaining watch. It addresses story beats from MCU movies of the past in a way that doesn't deviate from the story it's telling. Definitely see this film. Black History Month deserves HIGH Black Cinema. This week it's A Soldier's Story. It's a movie every black military has seen at least once. A film that tackles Racism, Black Self-Hate, Colorism, the treatment of black soldiers in the Jim Crow South, and what it's like to see yourself in a position of power for the first time. This a Black All-Star movie and it isn't talked about enough.

Our first of many reviews of the man, the myth, the legend Jim Varney! Dee and Cj have a fun conversation about this loveable redneck. We talk about the movies, Jim's acting, the shenanigans of the film, how black kids viewed him, and of course, likable white folk.

The mind is a terrible thing to waste or to be toyed with. This movie has split up fans for years and has a bigger following. Martin Scorsese directs another amazing movie that's actually out of his wheelhouse. Psychological Thriller that is heavily metaphoric and symbolic. We begin 2025 with Metal Gear! The 4th game will go down as the one people didn't like but is probably the most protected by the fans. It was a game Kojima didn't want to make but made it because he loved us so much. A game that looks gorgeous and the gameplay is like a dream but overshadowed by nearly 9 hours of cutscenes. A game that answered all of the questions, and I mean ALL of them! A game that should be burned but also needs to be in the Smithsonian. In this gigantic episode of 3BG, we talk about it all. #Dracula #Nosferatu #Horror A remake of the 1922 film, Nosferatu is a movie that nails horror noir vibes of the original film top the bottom. Bill Skarsgård is unrecognizable as the Count and he really builds on the characters motivations as he's psychically stalks Lily Rose-Depp's character of Ellen. Great cinematography, great performance, brooding music that matches the films vibes. Definitely go see this film.

The last 3BGPodcast of the year and it's our Christmas Movie! This year we talk about the Dark Knight again! Tim Burton's second go at Batman was met with praise and controversy. The Geeks talk about it all, the toys, the acting, and even Burton's career. It's a perfect way to cap off an excellent year for 3BG!
