92: Is Attraction Marketing Killing Your Business?

Attraction Marketing Might be Hurting Your Business There's a theme that I've been noticing a lot lately inside the network marketing industry. A lot of network marketers do not understand the correct role of attraction marketing within their businesses. So many people make the mistake of thinking that attraction marketing is actually working their business, when in fact, they're not! Attraction marketing is a 'marketing activity' – hence it's name, and marketing does not qualify as actually working your business. Working your business is the actual prospecting activities that create income and build a team. It means actively doing your reachouts, follows ups, training new team members, enrolling customers, and exposing new people to your business and products. Marketing activities create opportunities for you to work your business. It is lead generation. It is the process of getting your name out there, creating your personal brand, and attracting people to you, sometimes before they even know anything about your company or products. And the crazy part is some people are spending more time on attraction marketing to avoid facing their fears and doing the actual hard work! Because they are scared of the rejection and vulnerability that can come from reaching out to people, they hide behind the guise of attraction marketing, pretending instead that they are 'working their business' while reading books and creating graphics for their next post. And then they wonder why their team isn't growing at all. Marketing + Prospecting = Results Marketing alone is not enough. Lead generation is not enough. You need to reach out, connect, and start a conversation with your leads. While you must do both marketing activities and prospecting activities s to build a successful team long term, it is absolutely necessary that 70-80% of your time is spent on prospecting activities. In the end, attraction marketing will expose new people to you and your business opportunity, but unless you're doing the prospecting activities as well – the reachouts, follow-ups, and new customer enrollments – you will not build the lifestyle of freedom that you crave! Episode Quotes "Attraction marketing for a lot of you is actually hurting your business more than it is helping your business." "Marketing does not qualify as actually working your business." "Marketing is designed to create opportunities for you to work your business." "Marketing is passive... prospecting is active." "If you are only doing marketing but you are not prospecting it's not going to work." 91: How to Conduct a Time Audit for Your Business

"The Momentum Intensive workshop referenced in this episode is a 1-day workshop designed to help network marketing leaders design and implement systems in their business that will propel their business forward with fast and exciting momentum! For more information about the Momentum Intensive workshop, please visit www.BobHeilig.com/summertour. Or email us at [email protected]." Too Much Training…Is It Possible? Absolutely, YES! Consuming too much training is an epidemic in network marketing. And honestly, it's not hard at all to see how this can happen! Every single day we are inundated with opportunities to consume more training material – the blogs, podcasts, Facebook groups, LIVES, company calls and more! The reality is that people on our teams are spending too many of their precious working hours consuming training material versus the actual productive activities that will result in building a team and generating an income. They are constantly 'getting ready' to start their business instead of actually working the business! Listening to training has become an approved way to procrastinate on the hard daily activities that are required to build a successful network marketing business! Our team members are tricking themselves into thinking they are 'working their business.' But, in fact, they're spending countless hours in trainings – and those training hours do not result in the new team members or product sales that they actually need to generate income! For a lot of people, they sit and listen to trainings so they can avoid the harder daily activities – like reach-outs and follow-ups. And so many of them don't even realize what is happening. They literally feel busy and that they have 'worked their business.' Your Responsibility to Your Team: a Time Audit So now it's time to ask yourself: Are the people on your own team overwhelmed with too much training? On average, how much time each week does it take for them to consume the training that is encouraged by you, their leader? Or by your company? Take a bit of time this week and perform a Time Audit. I go through each of the steps in this podcast, and trust me, you will be shocked after you are done! It is downright eye-opening and shocking how much time can be spent listening to 'encouraged training.' As a leader, it is your job to educate team members on the difference between 'consumption' and 'production.' You must set boundaries, decide which select trainings belong in your training system, enforce the importance of action and productivity, and constantly remind your team members of this. Remember, less is more when it comes to training. In this profession, we earn as we learn. New team members do not need to know everything before they begin building a team. And as a leader, your goal must be to create a culture of action and production….NOT of consumption.

90: Mastering Your Money Mindset

Everyone has Limiting Beliefs about Money In all honesty, every single one of us has some type of limiting belief about money. And most of them were formed during our childhood – before the age of 8 to be exact! Ever heard your parents or other people say these phrases: "Money is the root of all evil." "Money does not by happiness." "The more money you have, the more problems you have." If your childhood was anything like mine, you heard these 'limiting belief statements' as well. And once these false beliefs are part of your mindset, success will always be an uphill battle! My Own Journey… and How Important it is to Have Self Worth Growing up I barely saw my dad because of his work schedule. I formed this belief that making money is difficult and in order to be successful you have to be willing to sacrifice your personal life and family. And during school shopping days I remember my mom would say, "What?!! Do you think we're rich?" These words greatly impacted my self-worth. It made me felt wrong to want nice things and that I wasn't worthy of them. But you know what? Your self-worth will build your net worth. The moment that I established my own self-worth, I also started to master my mindset around money. 5 Steps to Overcoming Your Limiting Beliefs About Money In this podcast, I teach you the 5 steps you need to take to master your own money mindset. Identify your limiting beliefs around money Change your thoughts and be responsible for your thoughts Change that way you talk about money Change your beliefs Reprogramming your mindset, and replace those limiting beliefs Click HERE to download the 5 Steps to Master Your Money Mindset worksheet! Again, change will not happen overnight. This may take a while but I know you can do it. Episode Quotes The three keywords are… "what something means." "Having limiting beliefs around money and success are like trying to drive a car with the parking brake on all the time." "Your self-worth will build your net worth." 89: Have You Made the Shift

The Reason Why You Are Stuck in Your Business Over and over again, I see a consistent theme as to why some leaders get stuck in their business. Maybe the story sounds familiar to you – you're taking daily action, you're reading the personal development books, and no one can keep up with you! You are ON FIRE! But…unfortunately, it's just you. None of your teammates are doing the same. They just don't seem to have the same 'spark' that you do. Here's the thing - at some point you MUST learn to make the shift from your own personal development to leadership development. If you want long term growth for your business, you need to have leaders in your team. You'll only get so far on your own efforts…. That's where intentional leadership development comes in. Make That Shift to Leadership Development When you first begin in network marketing, it is all about developing and growing yourself. But at some point, you MUST make the switch, take all of that newfound knowledge and wisdom, and begin pouring it into other people on your team. Do you still remember the concept of 'Intentional Leadership?' I talked about it in Episode 65, "Are You An Accidental Leader?" if you need to listen to it. The people on your team need someone who will challenge them and develop them, somebody who will confront them when they are doing wrong. So what I want you to do is implement the strategies of Intentional Leadership and start pouring into the lives of everyone around you. Episode Quotes "You must learn to make the shift from your own personal development to leadership development if you want to create true freedom." "If you can move product, you can make money. If you can teach people to move product, you can make a good living. But if you can move people, you can change lives and make a fortune in the process." - Lisa Grossman "To sustain momentum and growth long term... you must be good at getting others to do what it takes to make the plan work." "There are a SPECIFIC set of skills in the area of leadership that you need to master if you really want to create freedom in your business." "You DO play a role in the success or failure of the people on your team." "We are only going to get so far on our own efforts." "The biggest thing that is missing for people, is they are taking a way too 'hands off' approach to the way that they lead their team." "Sometimes you must step in as the leader of your team and confront people, tell them things sometimes that they don't WANT, but NEED to hear in order to get better." 88: The Success Equation

The Success Equation Maybe you've seen one of these people in your own company… They come out of the gate fast and furious. And in a short period of time, they make rank after rank, building a large team with fast momentum along the way. They're getting all of the accolades, awards, and attention that you so desperately crave for yourself. And you think, "What's their secret?!! What do they have that I don't?!! What are they doing that I'm not?!!" The truth of the matter is that there absolutely is a success equation that determines how fast you will see success in network marketing. Your Personal Growth x Quality of Your Relationships x Your Intensity of Effort = Business Results But the great thing is that YOU have 100% control over the three parts of this 'success equation!' The More YOU Grow, the More Your Business Grows First of all, stop comparing YOUR growth with others. The truth is, your journey is YOURS, and it's going to be different for each and every single one of you. But what you also need to know is that to grow your business, all you need to do is intentionally and daily grow in each of these three areas. Your business grows when you intentionally develop your leadership skills. Your business grows when you intentionally give and develop a 'relational account' with every person in your life. Your business grows when you truly begin to show up in your business with excitement and enthusiasm. You see the most exciting part of all of this, is that no matter how bad you've been, you can turn this around TODAY and start tipping the scales in your favor. Episode Quotes "Network marketing is a personal development program with a compensation plan attached." "The quality of the relationships around you in your life have a massive impact on results." "You will either reap the rewards or pay the price of the life that you've lived prior to joining your network marketing business." "You still have to show up every day and demonstrate an INTENSITY to your effort that shows you really are committed to success." "Your network marketing business is an assignment from the universe to help you evolve and grow as a human being." "The first step to getting where you want to go in your business, is first acknowledging the reality of where you are." 87: Defeating Your Fears

Fear Disappears When You Focus on Serving Others Do you have what I like to call "success mindset?" "Success mindset" is when all you can think about is what YOU can get from the business. Oftentimes leaders have this "success mindset." And unfortunately, 'success mindset' doesn't just build ego…it also builds fear. Leaders with this mindset don't try new things because they are afraid of failure. But this is exactly how you should NOT operate! If you want to defeat fear, focus on serving others. Shift to building a legacy of leadership. Shift to impacting the world by transforming the lives of other people. Whatever Fear You Have Right Now, That is What You Are Meant to Do Join me in this episode, as I share with you a story about my own early days in network marketing. Let's just say, I was a disaster. I was scared of so many things! But everything changed and that fear disappeared when I became crystal clear about my own purpose - that I am here to help people be successful. I am here to transform lives…and you are too. Episode Quotes "When your business is focused on serving others, the power of fear over you begins to disappear." 86: Beware of the 'Good Enough' Plateau

When 'the Good' Becomes 'the Enemy of Great' What's up everybody, welcome to Episode 86. Today I've got a powerful message especially for those of you who are feeling stuck! It's called "Beware of the 'Good Enough' Plateau." Here is the thing - some of us, especially when we've already experienced a bit of success in our business, tend to stay in the same ol' place. Over and over again, we do the same things, and they produce the same ol' results. You need to know, this is a MAJOR reason why most leaders are stuck in their business. Maybe we just can't seem to get to that next level. Or our income seems to stay the same month-over-month-over month. Externally, we look successful to our family and friends, but inside we know that there's more to accomplish in your life and business. But we're so stuck… Unfortunately, we get to a certain 'success' point in building our business and then ego starts to creep in. We become unwilling to try new things. We tend to stop venturing into new ways of conducting our business that will grow ourselves personally and our team, too. This is when 'the good' becomes 'the enemy of great.' Set Aside Your Ego and Reinvent Yourself If you want your business to build a legacy and impact others, then you need to learn to stretch yourself, venture into new areas, and take the risk of not looking good from the people around you. So, join me in this episode as I share my own story. Learn how you can reinvent yourself! Scare yourself! Challenge yourself! -- and grow your business along the way. Episode Quotes "One of the traps of the good enough plateau is ego starts to creep in." "If you want to make a massive impact in the world, you must continue to stretch yourself and venture into the land of uncertainty." "We must learn to reinvent ourselves if we want to go to that next level in our life." "Your confidence cannot be tied to your competence if you want to reach your full potential." 85: Stay in Your Own Lane

Comparing yourself with others kills your authenticity Have you ever found yourself comparing what you're doing in your business to the people around you, and falling into the negative space of 'comparitis'? I know that I've been guilty of that in my own business. What I've noticed is that the more I look at what other people are doing, it starts to create negative thoughts and energy in my own mind. I always look at what others are doing, and wonder if what I'm doing is good enough. What I've found over time, is this actually begins to kill your own authenticity. It's time to create some space for you to be yourself I once heard on a podcast called 'Making Oprah', where Oprah was asked how she maintained her own authenticity, with all the competition that was popping up on daytime TV. I thought her answer was so profound. She simply said that they had this policy called "Stay in Your Own Lane". She said that she never once ever watched a single episode of her competitors. That answer literally floored me… and it empowered me to make a decision that has had a profound effect on my life. I stopped paying attention to what everyone else around me was doing, and started to create pace for me to be who I really am, and create authentic content on social media. So join me in this episode as I share to you some action plans on how to do that, how I got inspiration from other people outside my space, and finally, how to be confident and be yourself. Episode Quotes "Anytime I started taking my eye off the ball in my own court and looking what other people were doing... it created a lot of negative energy in my head" "Stay in your own lane... I never in my life watched a single episode of one of our competitors" - Oprah "The best compliment I can ever get from someone is this - 'You are not like anyone else that does this'" "Start creating some space for you to be yourself because you are good enough" Listen to Learn 00:20 Episode intro 01:20 What I've been up to in the last three weeks 03:39 The negative impact of comparing yourself with other people on social media 06:40 My podcast experience - how Oprah's answer about authenticity impacted me 09:23 Why I "unfollowed" others on Facebook 10:49 The powerful effect of being authentic and being yourself

84: How to Avoid Burnout and Overwhelm

In this episode, I'll be giving you some tips on how to avoid burnout and overwhelm, on how to build a business around your life and not the opposite. I'll go over how critical resting and renewal is to the success of your business. I'll begin by sharing with you a trend that I see with a lot of leaders around me. I've noticed that they are not self-caring when it comes to building their business and the type of business they are building. This often leads to burnout, ruining family relationships and even affecting their personal health. Yes, our goal is freedom and success, but what good is success if it ruins other aspects of our lives? If you carefully implement the tips in this podcast, then I believe that you'll achieve positive lifestyle outcomes. Tip #1: Start leveraging the power of technology - The technology is already available for us; all we need to do is use it to our advantage. I suggest that you embrace things like doing a live video and hone your skills in marketing on social media. Tip #2: Be more intentional about developing leaders on your team - As leaders, we usually have this mindset that we must be on available 24/7. The catch is, to serve your team at the highest level you must become less available to them. Start working with your team and focus more on leadership development. Tip #3: Be intentional about scheduling your business hours - You need to set a dedicated time for work hours as well as family or self-time. Yes, you must be flexible in the needs of the business, but at the same time create those boundaries. Learn to create boundaries around your work and your personal life. Have that time of rest or simply a dedicated time with yourself, your spouse or your children. In order for you to avoid burnout, understand the importance of rest and renewal, learn the importance of being intentional in your business, work smart and think about positive lifestyle outcomes.

83: The Speed of Implementation

In this 5-minute Friday episode, I will be sharing about Speed of Implementation. Speed of implementation is basically the willingness to take what you learn and implement it by taking action; and this is one thing I notice successful people doing. On the other hand, this is also the number one reason others are struggling. They are just too slow to implement what they know and learn. Most of us have a false assumption that people are decisive because they have it all figured it out. Well, here's the thing, they take action because it's the only way they're going to figure things out. Stop waiting until you feel ready because you will never feel ready. It's all about testing. Knowing what's going to work and what's not going to work. The reality is, some people are going to say YES, and some are going to say NO, but that's OK. Don't let fear hinder you, and when you start to doubt, that's the time you take action. Here is my challenge: First, write down three things that you're going to implement in the next 7 days. Second, consume less and do more in the next 7 days. It's time to take action and put into play what it is that you've learned.

82: 5 Steps to Building Your Home Business Empire

Today's episode is a special interview with John Melton. I am very thrilled to have John on the show today because I know he will be sharing a lot of valuable insights about social media marketing. Truth be told, there are a lot of social media marketers struggling in their business. There a a couple problems they have in common. One would be that they do not create enough generic value to attract people. Another would be that they're just thinking about themselves and what they can get from the business. So, in this episode, John will be sharing the 5 Steps to Building Your Home Business Empire. Prospecting and Attracting Leads Your goal is to set up your online presence, so you need to create one piece of valuable content every day. In order to create a following, you need to post something that creates curiosity. Share something inspirational, or contents that you have read in a book. You can also set your brand. What do you want people to know for? Connecting with Leads Once you have those leads, you must connect with them. Build relationships with those people who like, comment or engage with your posts. But the key thing is, don't be pushy. You want to be human first, marketer second; build that social equity with your contacts. Inviting People to Look at Your Product/Business After building rapport with your leads, you can then make an offer. But again, don't be pushy. You are there to give them information that will help them with their problems. Share your testimony on how the business or product changed your life. Face your fear of making an offer, just be bold in sharing what's going on. Follow Up and Close Following up is another essential key in building your home business empire. An effective way of doing this is creating a group chat for those people that are open and want to stay in touch. Have a group chat for those that are interested in your business/product because your prospects need to also meet other people within your circle. Teaching Them How to Master the 4 Steps The end goal is to be able to teach these steps to the new clients. Again, it's all about legacy leadership; helping people changed their lives and reaching their full potentials.

81: The Difference Between Being a Leader and a Top Performer

In this episode, I talk about the difference between a leader and a top performer. We usually have a notion that these two are synonymous, but the truth is, not all top performers are leaders and you don't necessarily have to be a top performer to be a leader. Top performers aim for results but leaders aren't judged by their results. Leaders are judged by looking at their team. So what are the qualities of a leader? 1. They lead by example - What are you doing today to lead your organization? Leaders should be models, especially on the way they lead. As a leader, you must be intentionally working with your team. 2. They help lift up the people in their team - Again, legacy leadership. It's all about developing others in your team. Take the spotlight off of you and put your people on stage. Leaders get more joy when their people win. So, are you a leader or a top performer?

80: The Biggest Mistake People Make When Prospecting on Social Media

The reason why most people struggle in network marketing is because they are taught to focus on the wrong things. Network marketers have this "Success Mindset", wherein they focus more on personal gain and what they can get from their network marketing business. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with having success goals, but if that's your final destination, then you will see yourself struggling with prospecting people. Somebody asked me, "What would you consider to be an effective Facebook prospecting post?" I thought about it, and understanding the concept of Legacy Leadership, a better question would be, "What would be the best thing for me to post on Facebook to help me make the biggest impact?" Actually, social media has shifted to quality over quantity. In other words, posting your stuff and inviting people every day to join your business doesn't work anymore. So, in this episode, I'm going to share with you a business strategy that you can apply to be successful in prospecting. I have this concept called "Learning Out Loud", and it focuses more on impact over income, quality over quantity. So anytime you hear, read or learn something that educates and empowers you, all you need to do is share that content with others on social media. Your goal is to enhance people's lives by what you share. And the moment you share something that has value to someone, you immediately become valuable to them. This then creates that connection and relationship, and we all know a successful prospecting is born of that relationship. Stop thinking like a customer, and start thinking like a marketer. Marketers think everything around us is potential content to share with others. So here is my challenge for you: Start to share that quote that inspired your life, the strategies you heard on podcasts or read in a book. Get those old notebooks that you've accumulated and find something in there that you can share with someone else. Remember, teaching is the fastest way to success.

79: Stop Selling an Opportunity and Start Prescribing Solutions

Welcome to another episode of 5-minute Friday. Today, I will be talking about how to effectively prospect people for your network marketing business. Let me start with this, "People are not looking for opportunities, they are looking for solutions." The reality is, most of our prospects already have busy lives; they have jobs, they businesses, and they have family obligations. Basically, they don't need another opportunity that will consume their time. What they need are solutions to the everyday problems that they have in their lives. So here is my suggestion: Instead of coming to them as a salesperson, act more as a consultant. Determine what their needs are. Start asking questions. Know their problems, listen to them, and determine what is missing. Think like a doctor. You are there to prescribe solutions.

78: Stop Trying to Find Leaders, and Focus on Creating Them

One of the biggest misconceptions when it comes to building a successful business is the idea of finding leaders and superstars to be part of a team. We get frustrated when our team doesn't have the same level of commitment that we do, and we often go out and try to find the best leaders. Well, the truth is, you can build your business without having a person just like you. You don't need to magically find leaders. You can help to create them. In this episode, I'm going to share with you how to shift your focus from personal development to leadership development. I will also leave you with some action plans on how to increase your leadership level and how to grow your team. I suggest that you stop spending all your time trying to find leaders, and instead keep focusing on your existing team. Your people have all the skills, excitement and character. All you need to do is to challenge them in a way that leads to their growth. Stop blaming and start leading them so they can reach their full potential. John Maxwell has this idea called "The Leadership Lid". It basically means that the level of your team depends on YOU. You attract what you are. Let's say you have a leadership level of 5. In that case, you will most attract people on that level or below that level. You are the common denominator in the development of your team. Of course, as leaders, we don't want that to happen. So here is my question for you: What do you need to start doing today? Here are some action plans that will help you increase your leadership level: 1. Make an honest assessment of where you are in your leadership The best way to do this is by looking at your team. Your team is a great reflection of who you are as a leader. Ask yourself, are you guiding them every step of the way? Are you challenging them and giving them that confidence? 2. Start seeing the greatness of each and every one in your team The reality is, people show up based on how you see them. You need to start looking at your people in terms of who can they become, not who they are. See their potential, their talents, then start to lead, inspire and empower them to reach their full potential. My challenge to you: Start the process of increasing your leadership level and ability. Focus on leadership development. Focus on impact over income, and trying to make a difference in the lives of others. I tell you, there is no greater joy than seeing your team growing and their lives being changed because of you.

77: My Personal Challenge to You

The reality is, that most of us don't believe we have something valuable to offer. We think that nobody cares about the content we share. But, let me tell you this, every single one of us has information that can change someone's life if we are just willing to share it. In this episode, I am going to challenge you to go out there, share your content, and do a Facebook Live Video. It's time to break those lies in your mind that tell you that you don't have something valuable to offer. Don't let that fear hinder you from achieving your success. It doesn't matter if you haven't earned a dollar yet. If your content helps and inspires, then that's what matters. Here is the thing; money is a reflection of two things: Value that you put into the marketplace and the amount of people you serve on a daily basis. Doing Facebook Live video is going to escalate these two things. It's going to create the best version of you, add value to others and get your message in front of more people.

76: How to Use Facebook Groups to Grow Your Business?

Most of you are probably already using Facebook groups in some way to build your network marketing business. Whether it's a 'VIP Customer Group' or some type of 'Team Training Group'. The biggest issue that I see happening for people that are running these Groups, is that there is very little to no member engagement. The poor engagement inside the Group usually also means that you're not seeing much in the way of results. In today's episode I'm going to give you a blueprint to change that… starting right now. In my opinion, Facebook Groups are one of the best tools that we have as network marketers to make more product sales, and get more recruits. IF you use them properly. I've found that very few people actually know how to run their Groups the right way… and that's why they're not seeing any results. I'm going to teach you how to run your Groups the RIGHT WAY in this training, and if you implement what you learn, you're going to 10x your results. Here are some of my top tips that you'll learn in this episode: Do not use your company name in the group name, branding or image The goal is to build a community in the Group that has value far beyond just your products or services. Create the Group concept around some bigger mission or purpose that is tied to your products. This way it will be easier to attract like-minded people, and they will actually stick around for the community. Open the Group up to your team to join and invite their prospects This may sound crazy, but here is the thing, what makes more sense: dozens of people in your team having smaller ineffective Groups, or putting together one really well run group? I'll go into more detail in the episode why I think this is a critical strategy for success. Film a "Welcome Video" inside your group Create a 'Welcome Video' that welcomes all new members, explains the overall mission and purpose of the Group, and encourages them to become active members. This is the 'first impression' of anyone that is added to the Group. It sets the tone for everything else that happens for them as a member. Make sure you're creating generic valuable content Make sure 70 - 80% of the content you create isn't making a sale or a promotion. Focus on creating content that educates, entertains, and empowers the members. This is very important if you want to increase the member engagement. Give them a reason to show up in the Group every single day. Run challenges inside of the group This is by far my number 1 tip to help you grow your group FAST, increase member engagement, and make more product sales. I'll go through step-by-step how to do this in the episode. My final word to you is this… if what you're doing is already working then there's no need to make major changes. Take some of the ideas in this episode and make what you're doing even better. But if what you're doing isn't producing consistent sales, recruits and growth then be open to the fact that there may be a better way.

75: Are You Overwhelming Your Team?

It's great to have you on our very first special episode (5-minute Friday). This is a shorter version of our regular podcasts, and this is happening every Friday. Today's episode is all about the question for leaders: "Are you overwhelming your team?" One of the biggest mistakes that I see leaders making, is overwhelming their team with too many things to do each week when it comes to training. A lot of times it happens gradually over time, and we never even recognize this problem. There's multiple Facebook Groups they're in, multiple training calls to get on every week, and we recommend to follow this person and that person online. Before we know it, our people are spending hours and hours every week 'getting ready to go to work', but never actually working! The first step as the leader of your team is you must step back and take a look at everything you're asking your team to do on a weekly basis. Understand that if you make something 'available' to them, it's likely that they'll participate. It's the path of least resistance really. So decide what is , and what isn't important. Your people should be focusing 80% of their time actually working (that means prospecting, presenting, following-up and enrolling people). As the leader you must become fanatical about protecting your people's time. Give them clear direction on what they should and shouldn't be doing. Protect them from the barrage of information and training that you know is going to be thrown at them. Constantly be reinforcing what they should and should not be doing. Keep them focused on taking ACTION. Create a culture on your team where there's a simple, clear system for training and support… and one where action is celebrated and recognized.

74: How to Eliminate Negative Self-Talk

Episode Quotes "The price of greatness is responsibility" - Winston Churchill "If you want to be great you must be responsible for each and every thought that you entertain in your mind" "Our thoughts determine our attitude" "You are not your thoughts; you are the thinker of your thoughts" "Gratitude is the gateway drug to motivation" "One of the hardest things for us to do is change, but it is the greatest gift given to us as human being" Listen to Learn 00:05 Welcome notes and brief intro of the topic 01:00 Review winner of the week. Today we're going to talk about How to Eliminate Negative Self-Talk. As we have previously shared, negative thoughts are a big reason why many don't succeed. In this episode we're going to dive deeper into the power of thinking and taking responsibility of these thoughts. As Winston Churchill said, "The price of greatness is responsibility". The same thing goes with our thoughts. We have the power to choose them. I am going to show you some steps to follow that will help you gain control over your thoughts. STEP 1: Be aware of the thoughts in your mind - Start to raise the awareness of your thinking. Know what you think most of the time. Is it negative or positive? STEP 2: Take responsibility of these thoughts - Remember the concept about the "garden" and the "weed". You must pull the weeds (negative thoughts) so that they will not overpower the garden. Discipline your mind to focus on the positive. Water your dreams and your goals with positive thinking. Here is another example. If you believe that you're unworthy of success, then your mind starts to kick in and you'll look for confirmation of that belief. So, instead of thinking that you don't deserve success, start to look for proof of your worthiness; know your talents. Overcome your fear and cross over that chicken line. Start looking for the small wins along the road of success. Another way to take responsibility of your thoughts is learning to be grateful. If you want to be more motivated in your business, gratitude is the gateway drug to motivation. Again, it all starts in your mind. What are the thoughts that you're entertaining on a daily basis? Always remember that change doesn't happen overnight. You need to have some patience. Give yourself the time to make things better. Here is what I want you to do: Spend the entire next couple of days really paying attention to your thoughts. I want you to focus on the positive on every situation. It's time for you to stand guard at the door of your mind.

73: How to Get Unstuck in Your Business

In this episode we're going to be talking about fear. Many of you already know what you should be doing to be successful in your network marketing business, but for some reason, you're either not doing it or you are not doing it consistently. You may be feeling discouraged and stuck, and I'm going to explain why you're feeling this way. I'm also going to give you a framework and process to help you start facing your fears to create the breakthrough you're looking for. If you're feeling stuck in your business, there's most likely one big reason: you have been unwilling to face the greatest fears that you have in your business. The things that we avoid and know we're supposed to do are oftentimes the things that we fear the most. I want to introduce you to something called Creative Interpretations. Whenever we face our greatest fears, we make up a STORY around that very thing that is scaring us. That does one of two things: 1 - It keeps you from taking the action, and justifies you playing small and not facing your fears, called a Red Light. Or 2 - Or you will make up a story about that particular event or situation that will empower you to feel the fear and take the action anyway, be courageous, which is called a Green Light. The difference between successful people and people that fail is not that they don't feel fear - it's that they make up different stories that empower them to be courageous. They condition themselves to always look at the positive. I want you to catch yourself the next time you create a negative story that makes you stop at a red light. I want you to force yourself to look at the positives and tell yourself why you NEED to be doing what you're doing. Every time you face a fear and play small, it kills your enthusiasm, belief, and confidence. And that's why some of you are so stuck. The moment you make the decision to do it a different way and start creating green lights, you grow - even if the results aren't there in the beginning. It's not going to be easy - it will take dedicated practice. However if you do this long enough, you'll condition yourself to do it from the positive instead of the negative. Here's what matters: the person you become in the process of overcoming your fears. That is the greatest gift that you will be offered through this business. Hopefully you get a ton of value out of the training, feel free to share the episode with anyone that you think it could help! How do you like the new format and messaging of the show? 72: Creating Your Breakthrough Year

In this episode we will be discussing how to make 2018 your breakthrough year both in your business and in your life. We will talk about goal setting from the mindset of someone that is making to look a bigger impact with their network marketing business in 2018 and beyond. When I talk about creating a breakthrough year, I'm not necessarily talking about an increase in growth or revenue. I define breakthrough as creating, accomplishing, or experiencing what you previously thought was not possible for yourself. When we begin to recognize the different variations of breakthroughs, THAT is when we start moving forward in the right direction. Your breakthrough is not limited to business and financial growth; your breakthrough can be you becoming an exponentially better person. Once you have a better idea on what a breakthrough really is, you can start thinking about mindset and how that affects our goals. One of the biggest reasons we don't achieve our goals, is we don't BELIEVE that we can. There are two different mindsets you can use to approach your goals: scarcity and abundance. Scarcity thinkers approach obstacles as roadblocks. Abundance thinkers approach obstacles from the mindset of 'finding another solution'. These four questions will help you set goals for yourself in a way that you have never done before: What did I do, create, experience, or accomplish in 2018 in order to declare this a breakthrough year? Having accomplished all of this, what did I do differently in 2018? What did I have to let go of? Who was I BEING that created this? It's not only going to help you set goals, but it's really going to help you understand the person that you need to become and the things you need to let go of in order to accomplish those goals. There are two types of goals: income and impact. Yes, income will make you happy. However that happiness is temporary. Impact goals allow you to tap into fulfillment. After 13 years, she transitioned and found success in her Network Marketing business. She now focuses on serving others through her business. Instagram has become a vital part of marketing practices around the world. Whether you already use Instagram daily or have never even heard of it, you should be using it for your business. Although Facebook has its place in marketing, Instagram offers different advantages that will allow you to be more discoverable to people. 70: Should you be using a Facebook Personal Profile or Business Page?

In this episode we will be talking about whether you should be using a Facebook Personal Profile or a Business Page for your network marketing business. This is a hot topic right now in our profession, and I know there are many differing opinions on what you should be doing. One of the reasons this is such a hot topic is because Facebook is starting to crack down on people that are overly promotional and using their profile to sell. As a result, a lot of network marketers are afraid to use their personal profile. So, does that mean you should completely shift your focus to a Business Page for your business? Here's my answer: absolutely not. However, you do need to be smarter about your approach. The number one goal for Facebook is to improve the user experience. When Network Marketers are spammy with their approach and cold pitch hundreds of people from their personal profile, they get in the way of that goal. Here's the key to successful marketing on Facebook and what will keep you out of trouble: DON'T BE AN INFOMERCIAL. What does that mean? It means you need to learn to create content on Facebook that isn't just about you selling all the time, and actually adds value to other people. The three things I always teach people to do with their content are; educate, entertain, and empower. The majority of your content that you create should have nothing to do with your specific network marketing company. Most of your "selling" and "recruiting" is going to happen behind the scenes through private conversations. This is what is often referred to today as 'curiosity marketing'. It's understanding that if you can add value to others with your content, you'll build a bigger audience and that will lead to more sales and recruits. I didn't create this episode to instill fear of getting your profile shut down - but I want you to to be educated. I want you to understand that we have a responsibility as a profession to be better about the way we use Facebook. If you are educated and smarter about your approach, you will not only be safe longterm, but you will be leveraging social media to help you create real results. 69: Purpose Driven Prospecting

In this episode we will be talking about purpose driven prospecting. Many people in network marketing initially struggle with fear and a lack of confidence, which makes it difficult to create deep and meaningful connections with prospects. Here's what makes Purpose Driven Prospecting different... it's sharing WHY you do what you do, before you share WHAT you do, or HOW it's different. Most people in network marketing do the exact opposite. When you learn how to lead with WHY, it becomes a total game changer for your results. Purpose Driven Prospecting will help you start getting the attention of people in a totally different way, help you start making much deeper and more meaningful connections with people, and create loyal life-long clients and business partners for you. It is based on you being clearly able to communicate and lead with your WHY when speaking to a prospect. When you learn to present your products and opportunity this way, people will start looking at what you do in a totally different way. Humans aren't logical beings - we're emotional beings. We don't make decisions based off of facts and figures, we make decisions emotionally. Once you learn how to put words to your WHY, you'll be speaking directly to the emotional decision making part of your prospect's brain. Everyone of you has a WHY - some sort of deep-seated purpose, a cause or belief that is the source of your passion and inspiration. You may not know it yet, or know how to put it into words, but it's there. Very few people can clearly articulate WHY they do what they do, and you need to start looking at your business as simply a vehicle that allows you to live out your purpose or WHY. 68: Should You Be Using LinkedIn for Your Network Marketing Business?

In this episode we will be talking about the role of LinkedIn in your network marketing business. Whether you have never tried using LinkedIn for network marketing or you are looking to increase your LinkedIn prospecting skills, this episode will help guide you to optimize your results. People are on LinkedIn to network and find business opportunities. If you are looking to reach higher quality recruits, LinkedIn is the perfect place to be prospecting. In order to optimize results, it's important to be strategic. One of the biggest mistakes I see with prospecting on LinkedIn is people setting up their profiles in a way that raises resistance with prospects. You need to assume that people already have a negative perception of network marketing, so you need to sell yourself and demonstrate value. People don't want to join companies, they want to join other people. LinkedIn has so many incredible features that we can utilize to help us find our target market with just a few clicks. You can do advanced searches for people based on industry, area, company, position, and more. This will help you find connections and common ground with people to start a conversation with them. In your initial message, don't "pitch them" or send a link to whatever you have. Start a conversation and reference WHY you connected with them. I cannot stress enough how important is is to lead with the opportunity and NOT the product. After you start messaging with someone, get them off of LinkedIn and on the phone. The goal when prospecting on any social media platform is to get them off of social media ASAP. It may be uncomfortable for some people, but it is necessary if you want to make real connections. 67: The 4 Mental Enemies Of Success

In this episode I'll be mixing things up a little bit. I am sharing a recording of a training that I created way back when I first started working on Your Virtual Upline called the Four Mental Enemies of Success. Understanding the philosophies of this business is critical for your success. Unless you change your mindset, there is no amount of "how to's" that are going to offer a real solution for you. Let's face it: there are SO many obstacles in this business. However, dealing with these obstacles and roadblocks becomes so much easier once you have an awareness of the Four Mental Enemies of Success. Every leader in this industry deals with these enemies every single day, and you're going to need to learn to include them as an eventual part of your success. The first enemy is rejection. More people are going to tell you no than yes. We have expectations on what we think people are going to do and say, and that's when we run into problems. The second is deception. People are going to lie INCLUDING your friends and family. People will say they're interested and ready to commit, but not everyone is ready to take the plunge and change their life. What you need to focus on is moving forward. The third is apathy. This business starts as a numbers game and evolves into a people business where you develop relationships. It's easy to sit back and come up with excuses for yourself, but you need to delve into what is difficult and push yourself to be the absolute best. The fourth is attrition. Don't expect to continuously hit grand slams, but focus on stringing together a bunch of singles. Once you push through these enemies, your business will see the results. Success will prove to be a matter of just hanging on long after others have let go. Head to LegacyLeadershipAcademy.com to enter your name and email to be placed on the waitlist. 66: Lessons on Business and Life from my Newborn Son

In this episode we're going to talk about possibilities and how to make sure your life is going in direction that you desire. Entrepreneurial people, especially in the network marketing industry, can frequently lose direction and find themselves feeling helpless and hopeless. With the recent arrival of Baby Greyson, I've been thinking and reflecting a lot more about the miracle of life. Many people spend their entire lives hoping to hit the lottery; what they don't realize is that they've already won the biggest lottery of their life by just being here. Yet, as wonderful as this is, many of us still struggle. We struggle to find our way and ourselves, and we feel totally stuck. I look at my newborn son in my arms and my greatest wish for him is that he never fall victim to this mentality. That he never trades his hopes and dreams for compromises or settles for what other people tell him he "should" be doing. You can literally accomplish anything you want in life. If you're willing to believe it's possible and work long and hard for it, you can and WILL make it happen. It's never too late to start living the life that you deserve. Most people allow their lives to simply happen to them: they float along, wait, and react. That's no way to live your life. You were born for a purpose; the potential for fulfilling your purpose is already inside you. You just have to take the time to discover your own unique purpose. I promise you it won't be easy, but I also promise you that it WILL be worth it. Head to LegacyLeadershipAcademy.com to enter your name and email to be placed on the waitlist. 65: Are You an Accidental Leader?

In this episode we're going to be talking about leadership; more specifically, accidental and intentional leadership. Whether you have a team of 1 of 1,000 you have a responsibility to lead. One of the biggest problems I see in network marketing is people falling into the role of an accidental leader. If you lack the necessary leadership skills and ability, your team will never continue to grow. If you want to see your team grow and be successful, you need to start making the shift from being an "Accidental Leader" to practicing "Intentional Leadership". Intentional leadership is a very clearly defined, structured process that facilitates your own growth as a leader, as well as help you identify and develop other leaders on your team. Itʼs a hands on process and at times can feel like a lot of work, but itʼs whatʼs necessary for you to develop other strong leaders on your team. To start providing them clear direction on what they should be doing, and helping them understand what it really means to be a leader. People need clear direction and support to thrive and grow. And if you donʼt provide that for them, theyʼll go find it somewhere else. There are three main areas of focus for intentional leadership that we are discussing today: how to lead yourself, identifying the right people to work with on your team, and how to develop these people into independent leaders. Start leading yourself better, find the right people to work with, and be INTENTIONAL about the way you lead them. Interested in learning more about the 4 Phases of Intentional Leadership? 64: The Journey from Success to Significance

In this episode we're going to talk about how to make the shift from success to significance in your network marketing business. When most people start their network marketing business, their initial goal is freedom: financial freedom, lifestyle freedom and time freedom. But if you never grow past that and evolve into something more, you will probably find that this will not be enough to fulfill you. Freedom is not enough. Everyone has a WHY: a deep-seated purpose, cause or belief that can be a tremendous source of your passion and inspiration. Even if you don't know what it is or how to express it in words, you have one. Happiness comes from WHAT we do, fulfillment comes from WHY we do it. We don't necessarily find happiness in our jobs every day, but we can still feel fulfilled by our work if it makes us feel part of something bigger than ourselves. There are two ways to prospect. One, you can aimlessly shoot for everyone, hoping that you'll find something that fits with someone to get them to say yes. Two, you can prospect with purpose and intention - being clear in your communication and going straight for people that fit your same vision. When you use the Purpose Drive Prospecting and share your WHY first in a conversation or presentation, you speak directly to your prospects limbic, decision making center of their brain. We have to stop focusing on money and material things as our end goal in the network marketing business. We need to shift our focus towards aligning our minds with our hearts, so that we may be the change that we seek in the world. 63: How to Overcome Your Fear of Self-Promotion on Social Media

In this episode we're going to talk about how to overcome your fear of self-promotion on social media. Almost anyone in network marketing can tell you that putting yourself out there is a vital aspect of the business, but most people struggle with this because they have fear of self-promotion. This fear can come from different places, but we all deal with it. You might ask yourself: "What makes me credible to teach others and share my advice?" Your degree, background, rank, or commission check have nothing to do with it. There are 3 primary things that will make you credible to teach others: The CONNECTION you have with people, the VALUE that you provide, and your CONSISTENCY. Understand that no one else can teach a topic the way that you do: how you think about it, explain it, your life stories and research. Don't water yourself down thinking that someone else wonʼt be able to take the "real you." Itʼs your willingness to be authentic and unapologetically yourself that will make you stand out. Thereʼs 2 primary motivating forces in life: love and fear. When youʼre living in fear, you pull back from life, afraid to take action and put yourself out there. When youʼre operating from love, everything is different. You are open to all the life has to offer with passion, excitement and enthusiasm. For many of you the issue isnʼt just a fear of failure or of being judged - itʼs actually a fear of success. Deep down you donʼt feel worthy of success and it scares you to death. You just have to have the courage to put yourself out there and get started. 62: The Pain of Waking Up vs. Staying Asleep

This week I'm announcing a big change-up in the podcast. A majority of the previous episodes and trainings have been applicable to all different types of entrepreneurs. Now, I'm shifting the focus towards solely the Network Marketing profession. There will be TWO brand new episodes filled with original content EVERY week. These episodes will focus specifically on how to help you with your network marketing business. In this episode we're going to talk about the pain of waking up vs. the pain of staying asleep. Many people think that avoiding pain will benefit them in their business, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. Once you commit to a path and take action, things start to change. And when the Universe knows you're serious, it starts to move right into action with you. This, however, doesn't mean that there won't be pain that will move you out of your comfort zone. Regardless of what we do in life, we will face one of two pains: The Pain of Waking Up or The Pain of Staying Asleep. When we stay ASLEEP we choose to not examine our lives. There is a quiet longing for something more for ourselves. However, if we make the decision to WAKE UP, we must face an entirely different type of pain. We must face the pain of the growth process and the truth about what we need to do to become better. It is the pain of feeling exposed. If we can accept and embrace these short term pains as good things, that pain turns into long-term joy. It's the harder and rarer path to follow because none of us consciously wants to choose pain, but we MUST feel that pain if we are to awaken. 61: Social Media Prospecting Do's and Don'ts

In this episode, we discuss prospecting on social media. Many network marketers struggle with this task and end up spending hours of time and effort with no results. The number one mistake I see network marketers make while prospecting on social media is putting a business offer into their initial message to a prospect before they even know if they are open to it. It gets even worse when a link is included in that initial message. If you are doing that, you need to stop immediately. So how do we approach prospecting? The copy and paste strategy may have worked years ago, but in today's world you HAVE to make it conversational. Think of it as having a conversation with someone. In your initial message, only say what you would feel comfortable saying to someone face to face. Whether you're a skilled network marketer or you're just starting out, this episode will benefit your approach to prospecting on social media. People are extremely wary of the internet, which means connecting with people on a personal level is more important than ever. Make those connections first and foremost BEFORE making your offer. You can find at http://bobheilig.com/SocialMediaScripts a free PDF script guide that will be used and referenced throughout the episode. 60: How to Develop the Mindset of a Top Earner

In today's episode, we are talking about mindset. In a previous episode (Episode 24) I've covered the same topic, but in this training I go even deeper into the analogy. I share with you how my own experience of training for and running my first marathon, provides such a powerful analogy for success in business. I got such a tremendous response from this training, I had to share it here on the podcast. We could literally talk hours on the topic of mindset, but here's a sample of what you'll learn in this episode: The importance of enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is the first source of "fuel" for running the marathon to success in your business. The problem though, if that's all you have, you're in trouble. If your business is driven by your emotions, you'll likely not get very far. Next up is commitment. Commitment is the second fuel source that helps you along the road to success. It's a sign of emotional maturity. The ability for you to "pull rank" over your emotions, and work your business even when you don't "feel like it" is absolutely necessary. Finally there's conviction. Conviction is the one common quality of all people with staying power in the network marketing profession. It's absolute belief and faith that your business WILL work, if you WORK your business. I think you will get a ton of value and really enjoy this episode. I share some personal stories about my training and running the marathon that you should find both funny and inspirational. Make sure you take some time to leave a review here in iTunes so you can be selected for this weeks winner!

59: Forget About Your Personal Brand - Just BE YOURSELF!

Today, my topic is about building a business around your own personal brand. One of the questions that I get the most from people is, "What should I include as a part of my personal brand?" People struggle so much trying to figure out what their personal brand should look like, and the things that they should include. If that's you, here's the message that I'd like to deliver to you in this episode... stop worrying so much about your personal brand, and just start being yourself! Your personal brand is really nothing more than you starting to share all of the things that make you, 'you' with other people so that you can begin to make connections and build relationships with your audience. If there is something that you're passionate about, and that matters to you, start sharing that with the world through your content. If something is important to you, it will be important to someone else. The more we start to share of ourselves, the more opportunities we create to have commonality with other people. The more those people begin to see themselves in us, the stronger connection we make with them. Make sure you are focusing on three areas: educate, entertain, and empower. If you do these three things, and always lead with trying to add value to others, you'll have tremendous success in this area. Even if something has nothing to do with your primary business, it's still helping you get attention and build relationships with your audience. Over time, you'll learn how to refine your content and the things that you share to a more targeted audience. That's not something that you figure out before you start however. It's taken me over a year to get a good sense of who my "target audience" was, and the things that I'd be teaching them. In the beginning, I just focused on "being myself" and trying to deliver as much value as humanly possible to the people watching my videos. Hopefully you find the information in this episode empowering, and hopefully it takes off some of the pressure that you've been putting on yourself. Take action, be yourself, and give this time to "take shape" and you'll be totally fine! Don't forget to take a minute to leave a review for the podcast so you can be entered in the drawing for next week! Each week I pick someone who left a review and give away one of my training courses to help you with your business. Thanks to all of you that have taken some time to leave your reviews, I really appreciate you!

58: The 3 Golden Rules for Prospecting on Social Media

Welcome to the 58th episode of your virtual upline podcast. I am Bob Heilig and my topic for today is prospecting on social media. Social media advertising especially facebook marketing is the best and the worst thing that has happened to social media ever. If you use it in a proper way, it is the best thing and can give many benefits to you and the product that is being marketed. Besides discussing the topic, I will also announce the winner of this week. Prospecting on social media is a big thing and most of the people fail in pulling off social media marketing. I will share three basic reasons why prospecting fails on the base of my personal likes and dislikes. There are three basic things that serve as the main reason of success or failure of a prospect. When people start prospecting on social media, they follow the attitude of give nothing and take everything. People who believe this never get successful. This might seems like a profitable extension for some time, but not more. In the long run, people mostly fail to provide the expected results and get benefits from the prospect. This is one of the most important points to improve prospecting on social media. When you are prospecting, the main thing is to make a social contact and to create a sense of friendly relationship before bombarding your group of products and services to them. Developing a social contact with people is equivalent to depositing money in your bank account. Developing a social and emotional contact with your clients connects you to them and makes a good relation with them. The second important thing to keep in mind while prospecting is the initial messages you send to your clients. In the initial messages, the biggest mistake that people do is that they attach links of the products and services they are offering. Attaching the links in the initial messages disconnects the client from the message and thus is one of the biggest causes of failure in prospecting. The third main reason of the failure is that people rely on social media more than necessary. Take people offline to real life and connect with them physically. This is the real reason behind success of prospecting. Meet people on real life and don't rely on social media too much. Connect with them online and take them offline. Improvising on these three things can be your reason behind success in prospecting people. Visit my podcast and connect with me for further info. 57: How to Create Know, LOVE, and Trust with Your Audience

This episode is about the training I did about the marketing boot camp that held in February this year. My training was about using live video and generating confidence and build powerful connection with the viewers, listeners and the audience through the live video. I refer to this connection as no love and trust. In marketing and sales, there is a common belief that people buy from marketers whom they don't know. There is no place of love, trust and friendship in a business. However, in the modern entrepreneurship and business strategies, this is no more the case. The new investors, business persons and entrepreneurs base their business on love and customer trust and gain profits on the base of popularity among the general public by making good customer relations and a bonding based on trust and friendship. The key to success in modern day is conversion. To convert your ideas and products in dollars to earn profit is the real success in the modern day branding and marketing. Being one of the newest techniques for branding your product or services, live video is the key element to add in your business strategy and branding. I started 15 years ago as a marketer, and personally faced a lot of troubled and difficulties in my service regarding my job. A couple of companies I was working with got shut and I was completely broke. It was 2015 when I decided to start live streaming in order to attract new people to the company I was working with. Despite of being scared of public speaking, I mustered up my courage and started live streaming. It wasn't easy for me to attract people by making a live video and doing live streaming but sometimes, you have to step out of your comfort zone and do something different, think out of the box. Today, I am successful and I train people all across the world because of my crazy decision. Don't settle for what you've already mastered, and aim for something new every day. I shared my story as an inspiration for you. I didn't get successful with ease. I worked hard and adopted a way that changed my perspective of marketing and made me what I am today. Marketing is not about selling goods and service you are offering, marketing is about selling yourself and making good customer relations based on their trust and love for you and your company. Live video is one of the greatest inventions in the history of marketing and branding. Live video is all about being close to people and making good relations with people. The only success in getting started with live streaming is to be real. People gets attract to what they see and when you are doing live video, make sure to be yourself and attract people through your attitude and behavior towards them. Live streaming is a very powerful tool if you can use it wisely and can create something out of box. Think differently, be yourself and connect with people.

56: Your Network Determines Your NetWORTH

In this episode we discuss the power of investing into your network, and the relationships that you have in your life, and how that over time can dramatically help your business. One of the biggest reasons why new entrepreneurs struggle early on in their business is because they don't get a ton of support from their close friends and family. The harsh reality many times when this happens, is that they are paying the price of the life that they lived prior to making the decision to start their business. You have to view every person in your life as you having a "relational account" with them. Whenever you do something nice, show them genuine care and concern, and are generous with your time and attention, you make a deposit. If you are constantly doing this in your life, you build up your account with people. When you first join your business and begin to approach people asking them to "help and support your new business" by trying your products or potentially join you, you're looking to make a withdrawal. If you haven't been diligent in making the deposits, the account is going to be empty. This is a critical insight for any entrepreneur to understand. You need to be constantly focusing on investing your time and energy into your network, building up these accounts and understanding the long-term benefit this has to your business. The good news is that no matter how bad you may have been, you can begin to tip the scales back in your favor by simply beginning to do the things that we discuss in today's episode.

55: Four Ways to Stay Committed in Your Business

Today I want to talk to you about commitment and share with you four key strategies to help you stay committed to performing the right actions in your business to create massive results. Being that last weekend was the Breakthrough Academy Live event, I want to talk about commitment because it's an appropriate topic. Many attend an event or training and you have this new motivation and enthusiasm for your business. Then you get back and Monday comes around, then Tuesday, and it's harder to get out of bed, and then Wednesday and Thursday and before you know if you have not changed at all! Commitment is very simply doing the thing you said you would do long after the mood you said it in has left you. It is easy to be committed when you're in a peak state. But when you are not in that environment anymore it is much harder. Many people are committed until it doesn't fit in their schedule or its too tough. You must be taking action every single day as these actions will really tell you who you are committed to. The four keys to commitment: Mindset – You must learn to discipline your mind to stay with the commitment. You must learn to overcome the obstacles that are going to come your way. It is a necessary part of success to deal with negativity, rejection, and failure. You must learn to recognize your own greatness and stop being someone your note! You need to remove the fearful thinking that is surrounding yourself. Self-doubt will kill your commitment. Mindset is everything! Refine Your Goals – You can't hit a target if you don't know what the target is. You must make clear and specific goals and know exactly what it is and exactly what you need to do to get there. Some of you have no idea what you need to do to get to the next level. Get very specific! Change Your Focus – What we focus on is what we feel. Be grateful for the team you have and the results you've created but focus on the future. Forget about the past and focus on where you want to go! Do not wait to feel motivated. The problem is some of you don't feel motivated and you wait to act. Motivation is very simple. Motivation comes through disciplined action. Sometimes you must force yourself to do it even when you don't feel like it. Champions commit to disciplined actions every single day and they pay very little attention to how they feel. Accountability – I highly recommend you find someone that can hold you accountable to the disciplined actions that you need to take. Every single week you need to monitor how close you are to your goals and be rooted in the reality of your business at every single moment. With all this, make sure you celebrate the small wins. I really want to challenge you to stay committed to your goals and don't fall into the trap of having that moment of inspiration to have a bigger and better life and then having that fade away! Follow these four keys principles and stay committed to your business!

54: How to Use the New Facebook Stories Feature to Build Your Business

Today I want to talk to you about Facebook Stories! This exciting new feature just launched on Facebook and I want to share how you can use this incredibly powerful tool to get more attention on social media. This tool is also an incredibly powerful feature from a prospecting and recruiting standpoint to generate more engagement from your audience. So, you may be asking what is Facebook stories? It is a series of small videos and pictures that you can take throughout your day to essentially tell the story of your day. It allows you to show a more personal side of yourself and bring people into your world and get to know you. Right now, it is not available for everyone but it is being rolled out over the next week. The main difference between Instagram stories and Facebook stories is the filters. With Facebook stories, you can add the filters before you ever take a picture or video. One of the things about stories is it allows you to show your personality and the videos can even be up to 20 seconds long as opposed to the shorter versions on Instagram and Snapchat. Like with anything new, the key to success is consistency. If you can stay consistent and give yourself time to get better and rise to the top you will win on this platform. The best way to create content is to stop thinking and start documenting! Just be yourself and start documenting your life. The beauty of the story functionality is allowing you to become the star of your own reality TV show! This allows you to begin building a personal brand. Through stories you can show anything and everything that is important and that matters to you. Familiarity breeds trust and if you are constantly in front of peoples face you become trustworthy. One example of something you can do is to start documenting your journey as an entrepreneur. Talk about the things you are learning. Share your successes and also your failures. You may be asking how does this help me sell more and recruit more people? This happens because everything you share with someone becomes a point of commonality with that person. The more you share of yourself and the more points you can create, the more conversations you can start. This is where the sales and network growth begin! Actionable method to getting started on Facebook Stories: Focus on a mix of content by both being funny and adding value to your viewers Give yourself permission to be you and stand out Use Facebook Stories to drive traffic to other channels such as Facebook Live, etc. Quick reminder: I have a live training event coming up on April 7-9 that you should strongly consider. 53: Embrace Your Inner Weirdo

In this episode, we have a little bit of fun while we discuss embracing your inner weirdo! What I mean by this is that we need to acknowledge that as entrepreneurs we are not normal. It is not normal for someone to subject themselves to what we must put up with every single day to build a successful business. It's not normal for someone to spend hours listening to a podcast or attending a training seminar but I want you to acknowledge that this is a really good thing because here's what I know about normal people. They are not happy and they are not satisfied. They work just hard enough so they don't get fired and their boss pays them just enough so they won't quit. They live just for the weekend and depression sets in on Sunday night as they must face their job or career that they hate. This is no life for you and me! We are weirdos and we need to embrace that! Steps to embracing your inner weirdo Acknowledge that entrepreneurship is a lonely place when starting out Acknowledge that you are not normal Start celebrating being different Look for other weirdos Forget all the normal people's opinions My message to you is simple and it's that being an entrepreneur makes you weird and you need to start embracing this because you are not normal and this is one of the most amazing qualities of entrepreneurs. You're a weirdo! Start celebrating it, looking for other weirdos, and forget all those normal people! Quick reminder: I have a live training event coming up on April 7-9 that you should strong consider. Be sure to check it out here: https://breakthroughacademylive.com/2017

52: Change Your Focus, Change Your Life

Today we talk about changing your focus and changing your life! At any moment of our life, we can begin to choose to think differently and empower ourselves. Unfortunately, part of the human condition is to focus on the negative and create pessimistic thoughts within our mind. It is often times these thoughts that create the condition bias that leads to our eventual results in life. Today I want to empower you with strategies to be aware of the cause of this negativity and to consciously make a decision to change your focus. Some important questions to think about: Do you generally spend your time focusing on things that you have or things that you don't have? Do you focus on what good qualities you exemplify or how you are not good enough by comparing yourself to others? Are you focused on the past or are you focused on the future? In addition to these reflection questions, I want you to start to notice your own self talk. Many people would never talk to someone else the way they talk to themselves. Now is the time to stop being so negative and focus on the positive! An important component of your focus is confirmation bias. Confirmation bias is the idea that you only see and hear what you focus on. For example, if you are focusing on how you are not good enough, then you will begin to find examples and reminders of this on a regular basis throughout your life. A powerful alternative is to shift your focus and leverage this confirmation bias in your favor. Here is an exercise to perform: Make a list of ten things that you can be grateful for and every morning read this list. This will allow you to start your day with gratitude. Gratitude in many ways is the gateway drug to motivation. In addition, you need to celebrate the small wins within your life and business. Big accomplishments are nothing more than a bunch of small wins along the way. Begin to use these strategies to change your focus and ultimately change your life today! 51: Start Using Your Fear as Your Compass

Today we talk about fear and the strategies to overcome it. Especially as a new entrepreneurs, there are so many things that we feel resistance towards. I thought that once I became successful I would become fearless. However, nothing could be further from the truth. No matter how successful you are, fear is always lurking in the shadows and doing things you have never done before will be scary. High achievers realize that it is the things in life that we fear most which create the biggest breakthroughs and opportunities. I can remember back in my early days as an entrepreneur doing everything I could to avoid fear. Many think that once they become fearless they will become successful. The only way to avoid fear is to never attempt to get out of your comfort zone. When you step out of your comfort zone, uncertainty is created which forces growth! Being an entrepreneur is a personal development program with a compensation plan attached to it. Nothing great has ever been accomplished without uncertainty. Actions towards fear: Stop avoiding fear Start using fear as your compass Embrace fear and uncertainty and move forward I want to challenge you. Sit down and take an inventory of the things you are fearing in life right now. I want you to start recognizing fear as a necessary part of being an entrepreneur and commit that over the next 7 – 10 days, you will start taking action and believe that amazing things will start to happen! 50: 3 Strategies to Help You Become a World Class Presenter

Welcome to episode 50! I definitely didn't think we would make it this far but I am super grateful to have you here. Today we talk about public speaking. I know a lot of you have a fear of speaking in public but in order to be a great entrepreneur you must learn to be able to be a great communicator. Today I give you my top three tips to help you overcome your fear, become more confident, and become the world class speaker you are destined to become. Most everyone deals with the fear of public speaking and it is certainly one of my number one fears. I was always the student who never wanted to raise their hand in class and was never confident amongst my peers. I knew that in order to become a successful entrepreneur I had to get over this fear and become more comfortable with communicating. The first time I gave a public speech was at a hotel early on in my career to about 30 individuals. I remember opening the meeting in pure panic. I actually considered just leaving right on the spot. There was even a cup of water that I was holding and I was so nervous that I was shaking and spilling the water. When that meeting was over I couldn't run out of that room fast enough. I then made a commitment to myself that I would never embarrass myself like that ever again. Three strategies to overcome fear of public speaking: Record yourself giving a presentation to see, hear, and critique your mannerisms. Read aloud and practice putting emotion and life into the words Start modeling other people. Find other speakers whose style resonates with you and study them. It took years of implementing these three strategies before I actually became pretty good. In the book, The War of Art, it talks about how the things we fear the most, we were actually put on this earth to do. I want you to face your fear and recognize that the fear is an indicator for something you are destined to do. With these three tips you too can become a world class presenter! 49: Overcoming the Fear of Leadership

In this episode we are talk about the fear of leadership. I hope this episode can give you some insight as to why you may be struggling in this area and how to overcome it! In my early days, I used to self-sabotage my business and my results. I never quite understood why I did this and now looking back, it is very clear. To be truthful, I actually didn't believe I had what it took to be a leader. This was a vicious cycle that I was in for years that was extremely frustrating. The thought of having a large organization and being in charge of its direction scared me to death. To attack this problem, you need to do two things: Recognize that this fear is real and something that you will have to deal with. Then, acknowledge the resistance. Many times in our life the things we fear the most are the things we were put on this earth to do. If you are fearing this idea of becoming a leader than you were probably meant to lead! Stop letting fear control your business and pressing the snooze button on your dreams, goals, and passions. I want to challenge every one of you to stand up and be the leader you are supposed to be! 48: Building a Massive Following on Social Media

Today we are talking about how to build a massive following on social media. Hopefully by now, many of you are using Facebook and creating videos to build your following. Perhaps you are doing this but you are still struggling. This can be extremely frustrating! Most people get discouraged and quit at this point. However, you must remember that marketing takes time and it is hard work. In this episode I share the formula for how I built my social media following to where it is today. This took me over six months of creating content every day. Consistent application of this formula will bring the results you are looking for. Social Media Growth Formula: Attention + Trust = Growth of your following Attention has three parts: Be authentic and abstain from watering down your true self Be generous with your knowledge, information, and time Be consistent each and every day When you leverage these three items you gain attention which is followed by trust and thus your following grows. For you to gain a following you have to have the long game in mind. You must have a willingness to give and stick with it! I hope this episode give you a ton of value. Remember not to get discouraged and follow the formula! Be sure to register for my next live training session here: BobHeilig.com/VideoTraining

47: The Traditional Business Owner Mindset to Customer Acquisition

In this episode we discuss customer acquisition through a traditional business owner's mindset. I want to share with you a mindset that once adopted, can help you dramatically increase your customer base. Sometimes it is easy to lose focus on customer acquisition when tapping into your own personal network. Today's episode highlights strategies to increase your effectiveness at reaching out to this network. After realizing these strategies you will be amazed at how much easier it is to acquire customers from within. Customers are the lifeblood of your company. Without customers there is no money and if you want your business to provide true freedom to you and your family, you need a lot of customers! If you have not made it a priority to acquire a lot of customers, that can start to reflect poorly on the rest of your team. If you can lead by example and grow your customer base then your team will follow your lead. Two Questions to think about: When you think about the people in your life, your family and friends, how many are using your products and services? Of the people not currently your customers, are they already using products or services that are similar to what you offer. For many of us, the people we know are already using the products and services that we are selling and often times these products are inferior. It is at this point that you must take the mentality of a traditional business owner. If friends and family are using similar products that are inferior is that okay to you? You should expect at the very least they give your products and services a try. A traditional business owner will: Draw a line in the sand. Expect their network to support their business. Share with people why they are in business and why it is important to them. Make a list of every person that has done a favor for them and ask them to return the favor and try their product or service. Ask their network to TRY their product or service, COMPARE it to the current version they use, and listen to their FEEDBACK. Now not everyone is going to like the product or service and that is okay, but in order to be successful and grow your business, it is necessary to have a strong mentality when you approach potential customers. Don't go so far as to lose friendships and relationships over your business but it is important to let people you know how important your business is to you.

46: The Lesson of the Chinese Bamboo Tree

In this episode we discuss the powerful lesson learned from the Chinese bamboo tree. Network marketers especially but in any business, we put so much pressure on days like Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and small business Saturday. Taking advantage of these days is great, but it is not going to make or break your business. It is much more the little things that you do every day that matter most. The Chinese bamboo tree is a perfect example of this principle. Once planted, this remarkable tree takes four years to break the ground. That is four years of consistent watering and fertilizing with no visual results. Only at this point does the tree begin to show growth when it shoots up to 90 feet into the sky within 6 weeks. My message today is that you have the patience and engage in consistent actions. Everyone has a bamboo tree. All you have to do is have faith to keep watering and fertilizing daily.

45: Increasing Your Productivity and Results Through Greater Focus

In this episode we discuss the 80/20 rule of sales and marketing. This principle simply states that 80 percent of the effects come from 20 percent of the causes. One of the best books you can read is the 80/20 Rule of Sales and Marketing by Perry Marshal. In this book, Marshal discusses how this principle can essentially apply to anything in life. It is critical as a leader that when you build a team you don't get pulled in too many directions. The larger the team, the more difficult it becomes to remain productive and you slip into management mode. Because of this, it is important to focus on the right activities and people that got your business to where it is in the first place 3 Takeaways from this episode: 80% of your production will come from 20% of your people 80% of your results will come from 20% of your activities 80% of your time should be spent developing the relationships with the best 20% of people This episode is a recording from a Facebook Live training that I did over on my Your Virtual Upline Fan Page earlier this week. 44: People Don't Join Companies, They Join People

In this episode we discuss the concept: "People Don't Join Companies, They Join People" One of the hardest lessons to learn is that people don't join companies they join people. If you're at a point in your business where you are struggling to attract recruits, it may be that your prospects don't feel as though you have enough value to offer. This can be HARD to hear for some people. The question everyone must ask is why would someone join me? There are so many opportunities and because of this, you must learn to demonstrate your value as a partner. Once you start demonstrating value things start to turn! Two actionable takeaways from this episode: Instead of constantly selling people on how great your company is, start selling people on you. Start to DEMONSTRATE your value to others. Start PROACTIVLEY reaching out and ENGAGING with people that are in your network and show them you care. This episode is a recording from a Facebook Live training that I did over on my Your Virtual Upline Fan Page earlier this week. 43: The Power of Vision

In this episode we discuss the power of having a positive vision for your life. A vision is a clear mental picture of what COULD be in your life, fueled by the conviction that it SHOULD be. Most people struggle as entrepreneurs because they focus all their time and attention on their current circumstances and their past. This is the reason why they get "stuck" and never have the motivation or drive to consistently take action towards their goals. When you can develop a crystal clear vision for where you want your life to be, and focus intently on it every day, it starts to act like a rubber band pulling you towards that desired outcome. You start making different decisions each day and focus only on the things that will help you advance your life. Having a vision makes you persistent. Once you know exactly what you want and can "see it", then no matter what comes against you, you never give up. In the episode today I share with you how you can start to develop that positive vision for your life and your business. For many of you, this will be a critical first step to you turning your business around and creating the life that you know that you deserve.
