What To Do When You Don't Know What To Do Next

I was sitting in my office...on a Monday...with nothing to do. I can't say "nothing to do," but I didn't know WHAT to do. I had already finished our team meeting, I had finished my "ONE THING" and little to-dos, and only had one more 30 minute appointment scheduled for later that day. Typically my schedule is so jam-packed between my work hours (9am-3pm) that I can barely squeeze in a lunch or bathroom break. (Yes, I hate to admit that but it's true). From podcast interviews, to content creation, my days are typically pretty full and I have more than enough on my schedule. But not this day. I seriously contemplated just leaving my office to go for a walk or get my nails done, but then it hit me. I knew exactly what I needed to do to figure out what I should do next. So on today' episode I am deep diving into my strategy to help you figure out what to do when you don't know what to do next! "It's not a good thing and I'm telling you that..." At minute 0:40, we are more alike then you might think and I'm sharing what I recently realized while sitting in my office. Hear how I brainstormed what I could do to get out of a funk instead of doing nothing that would move my business forward. "This is just entrepreneurship..." At 5:24, I'm left with a huge list of AMAZING things but still filled with overwhelm. Find out how I turned that overwhelm into positives by going through my list one thing at a time. Plus, why we can't make excuses for when we get side tracked but we should instead be acknowledging it. "You have too many big opportunities to grow your business..." At minute 11:55, I'm telling you how this day started with overwhelm but turned into a very impactful and productive day. Don't know what to do next? The Financial Numbers You Actually Need To Know

What are your thoughts about money? Are you happy with the amount of hours you are working and the amount of money you are taking home? Everyday I talk with small business owners who are focusing on their gross revenue, without even acknowledging their net revenue, and the net is what I really care about! (Not sure the difference? Don't worry! I will explain both of these types of revenue in the episode). Now, we aren't actually going to take a tour inside of my bank account today, BUT I am opening up and sharing some things on money I know I've never shared with the public before! And yes, I share everything from money habits (both good and bad), things I've learned when dealing with money and an exercise for you to do today that will help you breakthrough your money mindset issues. "It does not mean I have a million dollars in the bank..." At minute 0:40, I'm sharing my thoughts on why I think a lot of business owners are under-educated about money. I've been through this so I want to make sure I can spread some light on a few things! We're discussing the difference between gross revenue and net revenue plus the money habits that result in business owners not paying themselves what they should be. "Some of this stuff is so made up, it's not even real..." At 11:41, hear what you should actually care about when it comes to money and what you should be asking your coaches and mentors. I'm talking about the importance of figuring out how to be a good judge of character of what you are looking for when we start to compare ourselves to other people. "What do I actually need to pay myself to afford my lifestyle..." At minute 22:28, I'm giving you a few questions I want you to ask yourself to make sure you feel in alignment with yourself for the rest of the year. P.S. Are you subscribed to the podcast? How To Take Small Steps To Get To An Extraordinary Place With Jordan Lee Dooley

So many times I see people look at successful entrepreneurs and just assume they were an overnight success. Not only that, we think that they ended up where they are today because they had 100% clarity on where they wanted to go and had no stumbling blocks along the way. But that's just simply not the case, and today's guest is a perfect example! I am so excited to introduce you to a good friend and SBHE Live 2019 speaker, Jordan Lee Dooley. Jordan is the host of the SHE podcast (which just hit over one million downloads) and author of Own Your Everyday, but it didn't start here. It actually started about 5 years ago in her sorority room storage closet hand-lettering products for her brand new Etsy shop. It's funny, because we think that in order to be successful there is a straight and narrow path to lead us there, but it's just the opposite! It's like a roller coaster ride with ups and downs and twists and turns that lead us step by step in our journey.... IF we don't give up! I'm so excited for you to hear Jordan's story and how she has ended up where she is today. "All because of a little shop that I started in college..." At minute 0:35 Jordan is telling us her back story, how she got where she is today, how she started her own business and how she became an influencer. Hear if gaining a following scared or excited Jordan when it first started happening. "Things can happen somewhat quickly if we take action ..." At 8:26 Jordan tells us how quickly this all happened for her and if it was a lot of trial and error or not. Hear where Jordan was putting most of her time, the places she was showing up and her content strategy. "I had no idea what I wanted to write a book on..." At minute 15:00, we dive into how Jordan's book came to life. Jordan talks about how she uses 3 things: motivate, educate and captivate people to reach an audience in an authentic way. "It serves the bigger mission at hand..." At 25:38, Jordan and I talk about how she decided to start a podcast and what made her decide it was the next place for her to go. Plus, how she launched her podcast with a launch team! If you want to connect more with Jordan, you can find her on social @jordanleedooley. Be sure to check out her book coming out in May! You can preorder it here, and check out her podcast, SHE podcast!

Ep 313Strategies To Prevent Information Overload With April Perry

Welcome back to episode #313! I admit it! I am a total nerd. Are you one too?! It's funny how when we are younger we would never want the label of nerd, but now so many of us claim it with pride! Whether it be attending a conference, completing an online course, or even a listening to podcast...we are all in! We want to learn as much as possible! But what if that isn't enough? What if there is more to just learning? What if just learning can actually be more crippling than empowering? I know we are all familiar with the quote "Knowledge is power," but it's more than knowledge that we need...You have to actually do something with the knowledge you are taking in or it cannot be powerful in your life and business...Which is why today in today's episode I am bringing in my good friend April Perry! April is going to cover two simple concepts with us that will help us solve the information overload problem and bring freedom and power to our life and business! "You need to communicate what you learned at a conference to the other people who help you succeed..." At minute 0:36, I'm introducing you to April and she dives into sharing her framework for starting to build systems after attending an event. She is giving us all the tips for what we should do before going to an event or conference and her genius way of organizing her notes! "We don't ever want to come home with piles..." At 12:37, we're talking about making connections and what to do instead of collecting a pile of business cards. April is sharing the program she uses to organize all of her notes that will be a game changer! "When you have a flood of ideas and when you have a purpose in your life..." At minute 18:34, April shares what she does every week to make sure everything is getting done and how to prioritize everything on our to-do list. Plus we talk about why it's important to acknowledge what you've learned and took away from conferences and events. "We don't often acknowledge how much we've committed to do..." At 26:12, April is telling us about 4 parts of building a command central to get you started and organized. If you want to connect more with April, check out her free class at learndobecome.com/step and learn how to stop drowning in piles of paper, clutter, emails and to-do lists!
